As a saints fan I wasn't expecting much from this game. It seemed like a bad attempt at putting all those broken fragments of the saints row franchise back together into.. *this*. Something about this game is really odd but no matter how hard I try, I can't hate it. The story only gets better and better and even though all of the non-saints characters are hollow as f, it just doesnt get boring.

I enjoy the Saints Row games, but a Saints Row game this is not.
Also, this is incredibly middle-of-the-road as far as games go.

+Fun atmosphere, characters, and writing. They nail that Saturday morning vibe they're going for.
+Combat is solid, but takes getting used to. (Spam space, switch characters often, don't stop moving.)

+/-Small open world map.

-Navigating at a long distance is annoying, especially before you unlock the player cars. Think Gat Outta Hell's Comet is every NPC's car, then someone cut all the plug wires. Then your characters aren't really fast/ can't really navigate particularly fast for more than one city block. It's like they've severely watered down Saints Row 4 style movement. Frankly, I think they should have ramped up player character mobility (within the X/Y axis).

This game is way better than people say. I played much further on console and bough it again on Steam because I enjoyed it that much. It's definitely not perfect, but their approach to the game loop and progression system is refreshingly unique and I wish there were more games exploring this type of hero shooter. In summary, it's a great concept that deserves more attention, but also has a ton of unrealized potential that sadly will be left to the imagination. Highly recommend if you like hero shooters, big open city maps, need for speed, and not taking things too seriously.

Please fix the contracted thriller achievement Deepsilver/Volition. Make it possible to do these contracts in a solo game, just because you shut down the servers i can't 100% the achievements. Such a waste of a fine game! Gameplay can get a bit repetitive but its definitely a chaoticly fun game. Buy it if you're into grinding character levels and switching up playstyles a lot.

I love the Saints Row franchise to which this game was meant to be a spiritual successor, so it's rather saddening that I can't suggest Agents of Mayhem. The fundamentals of the gameplay are fine, with a variety of abilities and respectable movement and shooting mechanics. However, the writing and world that made the Saints Row games so deeply engaging are simply absent here. The jokes fall flat, the character interactions are dry and predictable, and the futuristic Seoul setting is completely devoid of character. There is supposedly a new Saints Row reboot game in the works, and I hope it is able to achieve what Agents of Mayhem could not.

Silly and fun!
It kinda reminded me of those Saturday-morning cartoons I used to watch as a child.
I’m slowly turning into a grumpy old man, but for some uncanny reason this game made me laugh a lot!

Long ago I was young and foolish, but now I’ve changed: I’m not young anymore.

It's a hero-shooter dungeon-crawler where you fight mini-bosses at the end. That's the meat of this game. It gets tame early in, but you might find some enjoyment from the difficulty aspect. Now, the bad; The side-quests are just filler origin stories, the RPG system has insignificant upgrades with nothing good to grind for, and while the city is a marvel, the activities are monotonous. Overall, I'd call it underwhelming.

Could've been better if it had Multiplayer to make it truly worth it.

Gun play just doesnt feel good. Theres only about 5 open world activities, and they involve the same hacking mini game, or just shooting things. There was no depth in how you could handle anything.

The story is bland. About a quarter the amount of custimization as SR3 or 4.

At most, look at gameplay videos. Cause clearly some people liked it enough to keep it at a mixed review

Agents of Mayhem is an alright game. Lots of people seem to be down on it, and I can see why, but I still mostly enjoyed it.
The biggest positive is the comedy, which is much tighter than Saints Row, relying less on pop culture references and toilet humour, and more on clever dialogue and absurd non-sequiturs. That being said, some of the parodies fall flat. One of the minor antagonist questlines is an extensive jab at Justin Bieber of all people, a dated and cheap target even back when this game came out. Nonetheless, most of the other jokes are witty and well-written, and major story missions often have rather charming cartoons that remind me of Archer, which so happens to be one of my all-time favourite shows.
On the other hand, gameplay is a mixed bag. While the unlockable protagonists and their abilities are all fun to use in some way, the game does not make use of them to their maximum potential. The player is encouraged to grind, unlocking more gadgets and skill points, and the map is therefor dotted with side content. However, most of these are standard fare, consisting of checkpoint races and repetitive dungeons, where the irreverent and fast-paced comedy of the story comes to a screeching halt; no amount of funny one-liners being announced over the PA system makes running through secret labs looking for crafting materials and weapon skins any less tedious.
Combat also suffers from this tedium, with way too many enemy types inflicting AOE damage (melee troops, tanks, and even snipers, which is unusual and especially annoying). These stun your characters, making them unable to use their special abilities--the only thing that normally makes the combat in Agents tolerable. The final act of the main campaign also relies heavily on platforming challenges, even though movement is often awkward.

Overall, Agents of Mayhem is very flawed on the gameplay side, but still has enough heart to make it an enjoyable experience, so long as you are the forgiving type, that is able to overlook the repetitive grind in exchange for a game with a unique identity that constantly roasts and parodies itself.

Oh, and on a final note... I've fallen in romantic love with Scheherazade. She's an assassin that talks to her swords as if they were children, constantly speaks in rhyme, and her sprint animation is just her Naruto-running...

FINAL SCORE: 6/10

Do not judge on reviews! There are so many stupid comments with no reason!

This game is awesome. It's 100% depend on what you like. I liked everything in this game. It's an open world game, but we can't interact with NPCs but this game has not designed to work with NPCs. We got nothing to do with them. And also outside side stuff of the world. The story is a short one. It's all about find things, improve agent's super powers, upgrade agent's skills and fight. Each agent has their own unique skills and style. Who is the best? There is none! You need everyone for each different type of missions. It's all depends on how you like to play and the way you play. Personally I like Jhonny Gat. Just because he's one of my favorite characters in Saints Row and he has a very powerful shotgun. And I played Level 15. It was really hard and awesome at the same time! This was a very enjoyable experience. Just buy it and enjoy.

Very repetitive in nature. The city feels dead compared to the splendid cities in Saint's row. The humor isn't very good. It tries to compensate by giving a bunch of playable characters with different abilities which is good but that's irrelavant when all missions are exactly the same.

This game is a real mess of a mess.

It has good, clean visuals. Lighting is really good too, at night especially. Graphics and character design are like a Fortnite copy-paste. Dancing moves and childish cockiness of characters are also Fortnite'ish. Basically this game is like a dumbed down version of Saints Row for young people. There are many animated cut-scenes which have nearly the same visual style as in Battleborn. Even some enemies shout the exact same things like Oscar Mike from Battleborn (the voices are similar to his too ^^)

On the positive side - playable characters are quite unique in their abilities, so every single one of them is fun to play and usable (more or less) in different situations, which is really cool. Overall pace of game is great and action is fluid and well oiled. BUT.

On the other hand...the writing is very bad. There are like 2-3 jokes that were actually funny. Mission design is terrible. Bosses are childish and immature as f*ck.

Missions usually go like this: Go to a waypoint, listen to some gibberish from characters, go to another waypoint and then 50% of the time you go into a Legion Lair, which is an underground base of your enemies. This base looks the same EVERY SINGLE TIME. There are like 60 missions in this game and possible 30+ of those missions are in Lairs... Holy sh|t how tedious and boring it is.

All side activities in a city takes like 20-40 seconds to complete, they respawn after some time too, and rewards you with some xp, cash and materials which you don't need, at all.

There are many cut-scenes, but luckily you can skip them. Loot is meaningless. There is nothing to do in this game outside of missions. Unless you like to farm some contracts for achievements or collect 300+ shards that are sometimes placed in the stupidest places you can imagine.

Could have been so much better, the foundation was very promising.

I am currently playing this game at the time of this posting. I unfortunately have to recommend getting this game on sale since it may sometimes not let you finish your objective, happened twice to me in the very beginning. I have noticed if your mission objective doesn't update the issue MAY happen. That was almost a deal breaker for me, but I have played popular games with worse problems and It really doesn't take to long to recover if you quit to desktop. I wish it was more polished as well, but despite this I am having a good time.

One of the things I LOVE about this game is the dialogue. If you listen, each character will say something unique to them, heck the enemies acknowledge each individual characters with different voice lines. Another thing? Unique loadouts and powers.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this game because it got a bad rep, but I am glad I gave it a shot.

It's OK - If it's cheap, check it out but don't feel like you're missing out on anything by skipping this one. This is NOT Saint's Row so check your expectations if you are hoping for that. This is more like Crackdown but the devs were going to cash in on some kind of competitive shooter and changed their minds. I think the devs did themselves a disservice associating it with Saint's Row in any shape and form.

Yes, it's repetitive but so is Assassin's Creed and I'm OK with that. It's not a cover shooter, more like a horde shooter so it's pretty mindless. The story is not much but the banter is amusing. If you decide to play, there's a bunch of repeatable POIs that you can skip over - strongly recommend just sticking to the main missions and maybe trying one or two of each of the repeated side missions so you know what they are.

A bland and boring third-person shooter with a shallow story. You are better off buying Grand Theft Auto 5 if you want a third-person shooter with driving gameplay or Saints Row 4 if you want previous with superhero gameplay.

I would not recommend getting this game unless it is at a major discount(75% or lower) the DLC character packs aren't worth it.

That's the second time I've finished this game.

Agents of Mayhem is a competent game: It never crashed on me, it plays well, only twice I had to reload checkpoints because of a glitch...it works alright.

But the game itself is...bland. And boring.

Compared to Saints Row, Agents of Mayhem restricts you way too much in the way you want to engage with the world and do objectives. Yes, there are many classes to choose from, but you will quickly get your favourites and then have to grind the rest of the characters to max, if you want to finish everything. The story, as well, is pretty boring and surprisingly shallow. None of the characters are getting developed deeper than surface level and hints about ulterior motives behind Persephone Brimstone's actions are brought up and quickly forgotten. The game goes out of its way to bury interesting story bits under its own shallowness.

It can be fun, if you just want to unwind. But it can also become frustrating because of difficulty spikes regarding certain enemies.
Not very memorable, dated and mediocre - perhaps that's what makes it so effective at what it does.

Wait for a discount and get all the DLCs, especially when you liked Saints Row IV and Gat Out Of Hell.

Plot is not great, but not terrible.

Wanted to like this because I'm a big fan of Saints Row. This is where the Saints Row games went. Starting off as a GTA clone to create a fun game when GTA 4 went for realistic and serious to then slowly becoming superhero alien shooter. That's all this is now. It's basically the mess that is the Saints Row 4 with all the superhero rubbish toned down slightly. Story is dumb, dialogue has no laughs and is just lazy stereotypes and old and cliched tropes. Gameplay is rinse and repeat and after several hours, I'm done. Avoid.

This game is good, but it desperately needs an overhaul. In it's last patch it went from a live service looter shooter just an average shooter experience but this came at the cost of uneven game progression. Some characters feel weaker or useless while others become dominant strategy.

This isn't a Saints Row game for better or worse, yes it has cameos but it's like thinking Smash Bros is a Super Mario Bros game.

Get this if it's on a generous discount and:
a) you are a completionist
b) or you are curious about this game despite it's reputation
c) you enjoy cheese saturday morning cartoons
d) you don't mind some annoying twitter lesbian characters like Daisy or Babadock

This game is not as bad as I was expecting given the mixed reviews. The game is not serious at all and a couple of the jokes and one-liners were actually funny. The characters are very different from each other personality wise and it's kinda refreshing. Sure it has some bad design choices but overall I would still recommend it. The underground sections that you have to constantly do are the same 10-15 rooms. They are just in random order. It gets old fast. Gameplay is average, nothing special about it but nothing really bad about it either.

This game is like a sentient being whose job it is to see how fast it can piss you off. The game may crash if you hit certain buttons on a controller, the game may crash during a save, the game may crash during a load screen. By the tiny chance you manage to get through all that and other weird crashes, the actual game-play is boring, the world feels empty, and its really not as fun as the Saints Row series. You may wish for one of those crashes to occur if trapped in the repetitive hell...But no the game senses this and may keep you from escaping this bad laboratory experiment by giving you a black screen upon exit.

Only problem I've got with it is the lack of multiplayer. It would have made for a fun coop shooter.
Recommend? Yes

The game is great; basically the closest thing to a good G.I. Joe game that we're ever going to get. The PC port is horrendous—plagued by constant crashes IF you can even get it to launch. Pick up the game for Xbox One or PS4 instead.

Story and characters are cheesy and most of the gameplay is repetitive but none of that bothered me in the slightest. Combat is incredibly fun and all the characters' abilities / weapons are a blast. The only genuine disappointment I had with this game is that there was no option for multiplayer. In short, I think the best way to play the game is to stop paying attention to the story and just f****** shoot people.

PS: IT IS NOT A SAINTS ROW GAME AND WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!!!

Definitely doesn't deserve the reviews being as bad as they are. Had a ton of fun with it, though it can get a little repetetive after a while. The characters are also really fun! A nice little game to keep you afloat until Saints Row 5 comes out. Just get it on sale and you'll have a good deal.

This game is awful. The story is generic, evil person trying to conquer the world, voice acting is weak and dialogues are bad. From the 12 characters that you can play with, some of them have an interesting story, but you will dabble into their backgrounds in 3 missions and that's it.

Speaking of missions, they are literally 3 types of missions: Go there, kill/destroy this or that, go into a lair ( which by the way is reused nearly every time) to kill enemies or drive around in a car to kill enemies.

The only good aspect of this game is the combat. The characters have different abilities and weapons. Moreover, you can customize said abilities to your liking (e.g. you can go either for raw damage or different buffs/debuffs).

In my opinion they went with a quick, rushed game just so they can cash in on the Saints Row franchise. I do not recommend this game.

Johnny Gat : As For The Negative Reviews...SCREW YOU !!! BLAM BLAM BLAM !!!

Sup All ! As a fan of the Saints Row games I feel this game is 100% on the lvl as SR3 and SR4. Yeah the missions can get repetitive but they also did that in the past SR games or carried over to the next edition. I'm enjoying this one so far and I like the 1980's Saturday-morning cartoon cut scenes and the cartoon-ish look of the game.

The games pitch by Volition was G.I.Joe vs Corbra Megafight 2020 and that's what it feels like if you grew up on 80s cartoon shows but now with the Agents of Mayhem vs the Legion. What I like is you can take 3 members or Agents with you and each has their own skills and talents and weapons and can switch between them in battle. So if one takes damage or dies you can scroll to another one wile they heal and its on the fly. The world map is huge and like the SR games their is all kinds of side missions , events and collectibles to be done or gathered. You can also lvl up your agents as well with each Agent starting a lvl 0 and will gain exp every mission.

The game runs good for me all on High @1080p 143hz and controls are fine and can be rebinded. I'v come into no issues yet so far though my hours played are low .

I think if you have the cash to blow nab this one if you can ! Or try and find it cheap on sale (like I did) and get all the DLCs to along with it to add some more Agents and missions. I give this one 7-10 Gat Shots !

I again say if you like the SR Franchise games, I'm sure you will enjoy this as well.

Wow, I hate this game.

Its nothing like the last ones.
Take all the things you liked about saints row 4, remove them all, force the game on rails, and stylize it to appeal to the fortnite crowd and you have this game.

I hate everything about it, and deeply regret the purchase.

“Sh*t. Oh Hell, let's just do what we always do - hijack some nuclear weapons and hold the world hostage, yeah?”
~Dr. Evil

* SIGH * OK, one day, guys. One day I'll find that mot****r who invented this kind of video games. I mean, the problem with Agents of Mayhem is not the fact that it isn't what most of us wanted from Volition. Sure, old farts like yours truly wanted FreeSpace 3 and Summoner 3. Some other people hoped for a proper new Red Faction, while most of us just wanted another Saints Row. Because... you know how it is. Even though some Xbox 360 owners still miss the times when Saints Row was just a GTA clone with somewhat serious tone, most of the players enjoyed the crazy new look we've got in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV. I mean, for those of us who prefer serious tone, there's always GTA, while new Saints Row? It was fun in its own unique way. The world needs that crazy GTA with cheesy laughs. Unfortunately, back in 2013, Volition was purchased by Koch Media GmbH (Deep Silver) a-a-a-nd... that's where our mot****r comes in. Some smartass there was like “No-no-no! Saints Row can wait! There's that new kind of action games and we need one of those!”.

So... yeah. Here it is. One of those painfully uninspired action games that focus on grinding and feel more like something from mobiles. AKA action brawler or whatever they call this kind of sh*t nowadays. And you know what? I never understood why such games exist in the first place. I mean, seriously, guys... nobody even likes those! Take MARVEL's Avengers for example. Creators of the legendary Soul Reaver series made a game about one of the most iconic superhero teams in history. Captain America (AKA the man who punched Hitler in the face), Iron Man (AKA the man who snapped the f*ck out of Thanos), Hulk (AKA the man who's always angry)... they were all there. And yet, nobody liked the game. And not even because it was terribly made. It was just because the core formula didn't... f*cking... work. And even though Agents of Mayhem was released long before the Avengers? It's the same bloody thing. Like... seriously. It was Avengers before the Avengers. No matter how hard I try, I just can't find enough differences.

What Volition did was taking what they already had in their latest Saints Row installments (you know, cars, superpowers, high jumps, stuff like that), adding Austin Powers-like setting (which also allowed some sort of crossover with Saints Row for whatever reason) and... flushing all that into a toilet by using the formula I've mentioned above. If you haven't played such games before and wonder why everybody hates those so much, let me explain. The entire game works like this – you do the same exact dungeon again and again and again until your eyes will start bleeding. Because grinding. From time to time you'll also do some open world stuff, but guess what? Variety isn't there either. You find stuff, you blow up stuff and you hack stuff by using a painfully annoying mini-game. Repeat forever. You can also travel to your base to craft some stuff and send your agents for the investigations (wait for some time and get some materials, you know that crappy mobile drill), but that's it. There's nothing else here in this game.

In other words, you'll do the same exact things. Again... and again... and again... like a bloody Energizer Bunny. Every single dungeon and every single mission in the game feels exactly the same and there's literally nothing else to do. Except maybe collecting some crystals in the way we did in Saints Row. You know... you jump from one roof to another, you collect sh*t, you upgrade sh*t... kill all that with fire. The biggest problem with Agents of Mayhem is that it isn't addicting. At all. After you'll finish a couple of missions, you'll feel like you had enough. More than enough, actually. Especially since there's close to no story here. The game just keeps throwing some boring Austin Powers-like villains at you and after you kill them all, it's the end of the game. No interesting story, no twists, no developments. It's just that – you fighting some random baddies. Even the writing here is painfully forced and uninspired. Say whatever you want about Saints Row 3+, but those games were fun. This? This is just boring.

Co-op would help a little. Just because... you know how it is. Boring and repetitive stuff is always more interesting with friends. Unfortunately, no. Nothing like that here either. All that repetitive mess that'll take you about forty hours to finish, you're supposed to suffer alone. And even the fact that you can get the most iconic characters from Saints Row (Johnny Gat, Kinzie Kensington, Pierce Washington, they're all here) by purchasing the DLC can't help with the fact that... Agents of Mayhem is just a bad game. Not because it's terribly made. Even though the quality here is way lower than in Saints Row IV, it still feels fine. Driving, shooting, jumping... all that stuff is OK. But playing the same exact couple of dumb and generic missions? With close to no story? It's a terrible, terrible waste of time. Dixi.

Verdict: I honestly had a lot of fun, but due to repetetivness I would recommend the game on sale

+
Steam achievements (49, requires grind, replay of 3 mission and difficuity set to 7 from the start)
Steam trading cards (5 drop, 9 to make the badge)
Around 50 hours to 100% (besides Contract Thriller which is hard rng these days)
12 very different agents (3 different specials + 3 different weapon skills + 3 passive skills per agent)
10 different agency cars (each with 5-10 skins)
Each agents can be customised quite a lot (7 to 10 skins) + around 5 civil cars to drive
Skins obtainable in game (5 weapons + 5 agent skins per character)
interesting story that is smarter than it looks from the trailer (but doesn't hesitate to drop F bombs)
Well done villains and diverse boss fights (6 main bosses in total)
57 missions that can be replayed once you finish the game
Collectibles around the map (350 shards, caches with skins etc.)
A lot of side activities (races, saving civilians, legion patrols, outposts etc.)
The cutscenes are just pretty unique and fun to watch (hand drawn animations)
The character you selected as active is the one speaking in the mission and commenting on it. This means each mission has 12 unique narratives since characters are commenting differently on their current situation.
Further upgrades with Legion Tech (9 per character with a long farm). Those change how you play a lot.
Black outline of models gives the game a comics vibe
I really loved how different the bosses were in their character

-
It is a lot of the same activities with small variations
I cannot stress how repetetive some parts are and it takes a while to make the game moving
Feels like Deep Silver was afraid to kill main characters
Balance betwen the characters feels of as some are clearly stronger
A lot of walking in between points and mission starts
The city map is a clusterfuck with how many icons are there and there is no filter
If you want to start a daily contract you have to click around 8 times just to get into the right menu
Global conflicts are the least interactive thing ever. Just activate them and wait 4-10 minutes for them to resolve
Contract Thriller achievement is basically multiplayer grind that you have to be really lucky to finish. It takes at least 5 days and people actually playing (which doesn't happen often nowadays)
No save slots - you have only a single one and you have to erase it if you want to start fresh
The game crashed on me a few times (stuck at exit or loading)
Open ending and I don't think we will get a sequel sadly

+/-
3 DLC agents, 2 of them are from Saints Row (Johny Gat and Kinzie Kensington)

I loved Saint's Row, even enjoyed Gat Out of Hell. This game is hot garbage. The gameplay is the worst part of Saints Row 4 over and over. Nearly identical missions, all of them defeat enemies in area. Like 3 missions for each character, and a further 12 or so missions to level up each character. This game has a lot of cool assets, but deep silver put zero effort into making the game fun or the gameplay varied.

I was skeptical at first since everyone I've asked said that the game doesn't live up to it's expectations but once I got to play it myself, i was quite satisfied. Graphics and animations are new and of higher quality, same with audio. Even if it isn't really a Saints Row game, the vibes it gives off really make you feel like you're playing SR.
I recommend that you buy this game, you won't be disappointed!

A futuristic city scape sets the scene for a complete blast of a game. I love the cartoony style of graphics which are very detailed, atmospheric and reminiscent of well fashioned action hero cartoons of the 1990’s. As you might expect from a Saints Row derivative, the game doesn’t take itself seriously at all, but what you do get is hours of blasting, dodging, collecting and upgrading weapons to keep you with the upper hand over the hordes of enemies that populate the city.
Many of the missions unlock additional characters. You initially start with 3 characters but can soon find yourself with a dozen or more. I tended to have 4 or 5 favourites that I stuck with most of the time but I occasionally brought one of the other characters along for a mission just to change things up a bit and to level that character up in battle.
This game isn't perfect but what it does, it does well. Interesting characters, fun gameplay, and a cool world to mess around in. I love the Saints franchise and this picks up on that in a familiar but different way. It won't win any game of the year awards but if you are looking for a fun game to play in bursts. It’s a fun let loose and don’t take things too seriously good time. The comedy and writing is perfectly in line with the saints row games and doesn’t disappoint if you’re looking for a spiritual successor.

Not a very good game. People say, don't compare it to Saints Row. However, the developers seem to want you to as the style is very saints rowish. But the comparison ends there. But I'm not comparing it to Saints Row as it is nothing like Saints Row. As an independent stand alone game, it is not very good. What did I like about the game? For one thing, it was pretty cool that they made it a throwback to the old 80's saturday morning cartoon era with cartoonish supervillains. That was nice. But they screwed up the animation with poor, jagged framerates. They could have at least done a better job with the cartoon animation. It's also nice how you have an assortment of characters to choose from - each having their own abilities , weaknesses, strengths, and playstyles. Aside from that, the game is very boring. Story is meh. But even more so, there is very little to do. You have an open world (I say this loosely) with a very, very small boring, repetitive dead map. Nothing really happens in this world. NPCs are bland with people who just wander around and don't do much. Its not like GTA or any other interesting Open world where you can explore and find great things to do. It's not a living world. Just boring space with nothing. You select a mission from your main screen or head for the mission icon (either main mission or sidequest) and once you are on your mission you go from point A to point B. The mission is almost ALWAYS the same. Go from point A to Point B. Kill everyone there, go to next checkpoint. Kill everyone there. Rinse and Repeat. Mission Complete. That's basically it. Nothing more creative. Sometimes you have to destroy equipment. So instead of shooting enemies you shoot boxes. But you're just going from Point A to Point B then shooting everybody. This is the whole game. Nothing to do anywhere else or in between most of the time. This is not a bad game because it's not like Saints Row. It's a bad game becuase on it's own it just doesn't work very well. It's ok for a quick pick up and shoot.

Also, this really did not need to be an open world game. Them forcing the open world BS on us ruined the gmae because it's a fake open world. So people are expecting an open world like skyrim, GTA, SR, etc. But it's not. They should have made it a non-open world mission based game where you just select a mission, and are deployed right into the battle. Then when complete, move on to next mission.

Its flashy and fun. I recommend playing difficulties 6-10 for the most enjoyment without too much punishment. Then increase to 12 or 13 once your agents get to super levels.
I'm a fan of the cartoon-like art style
The 2D cut-scenes are also a neat watch
(IMO) The dialogue is pretty entertaining.
Story is meh

DLC SHOULD be at least 30% cheaper
Quests get boring, repetitive and sometimes very looooooonnnnnnnnnngg.
The world is incredibly lifeless. I forget that civilians even exist

This game would be great if it had multiplayer. It would work considering all the different classes, buffs/debuffs, skills and missions. They'd only need to increase something like the enemy spawn rate.

It's not too bad a game, especially if you want to just blow some people up every so often, i wouldn't recommend playing longer than 2 hours every session.

This review is going to be long and ranty, so I'll just summarize here. Agents of Mayhem is average. My recommendation is teetering on yes/no, but I did enjoy some of it, so I'd definitely recommend it on sale.

If you've played your fair share of shooter games, you might get more out of the game by adjusting the difficulty one or two levels above the recommendation as the game is pretty easy by default. The only downside with max difficulty is that certain characters become plain unusable, because of how slow and rigid their offense can be (
Yeti, Scheherazade
).

Can't really comment on the story much since I unintentionally tuned a lot of it out so I don't remember much. I do remember the string of Uranus jokes very early into the game that struck me as surprising considering I'd heard the game was praised for its humor and writing. From what I remember of the story itself, I guess it did an okay job of emulating your average Saturday-morning cartoon.

While a lot of the weapons feel somewhat lacking in impact (and range), the combat in the game is pretty fun. The later gadgets and tech upgrades you unlock further improving it. Some of the combat flow is negatively affected by the interruptions that jumping causes, as it interrupts your weapon firing and delays your reloads, creating constant awkward pauses in highly populated enemy encounters.

The free roaming is fun for a little while, the endless loot chests are satisfying to find and it's fun to climb buildings and jump from rooftop to rooftop. Unfortunately, the playable area is incredibly small, so exploring it gets old pretty fast. The map activities are repeatable, but also very repetitive, which isn't a good thing because pretty much all of the side missions reuse those exact activities for mission padding.

The missions (operations) themselves aren't very good, save for a few in the main mission list. As already stated, the side missions all reuse the map activities with zero change, literally having you do three activities spread out a little bit and calling that a mission.

I liked the cartoon cutscenes, they had a decent look to them, but the animation was kinda stiff looking. The graphics for the rest of the game were quite good. Seoul and all the various locations therein were nice to look at.

I would have liked more options. In combat view the camera is uncomfortably close to the player and there's no option to adjust that. The camera also has this infuriating habit of automatically centering so you end up battling with the camera when you want a better view as you're running or driving. The controls seem very tailor-made for controllers, having three types of aim assist (snap-to-target, bullet magnetism and friction) but you can only disable two of them, you'll always be stuck with friction, which was always my least favorite assist type. Bonus points for having secondary keybinds though.

Over the course of the game I ran into quite a few bugs, ranging from amusing to annoying. One of the most frustrating bugs I kept getting screwed by was how your dash is completely nullified when done right after walking off an edge. You expect to fly forward and instead fall like a rock, feeling as stupid as one. Another common bug was enemies randomly getting stuck T-posing or just standing still doing nothing, even after being shot dead. Those randomly spawning loot chests also have a nasty habit of spawning inside building walls or in the air, judging by how they always appear in the same spots, they must have altered the buildings while forgetting to move the chest spawns. The only game-breaking bug I encountered was one where the game would randomly get stuck on the loading screen, forcing me to end the task, which is a real pain when borderless windowed mode is set to be always on top for some reason.

I think that's enough rambling about the game for now. Again, I did have a lot of complaints about this game, but I did also have fun with a decent amount, so it's not a bad sale pick. The base game alone takes a decent chunk of space though (around 50 GB), so keep that in mind.

Still confused why they didn't bother adding co-op.

I tried to like this game as it had a very fun and intriguing start - Saints Row mixed with Moba-esque champion selection and toilet humor as the icing on the cake.

But after each mission, the game tires you more and more - missions become chores and there are no defining moments. I cannot recall any specific mission that stands out in my mind, even though I am writing this review right after finishing the game. What does that say about the endgame?

I can see that a lot of love and care went into the characters and the little details, but the general structure and integrity of the game is riddled with visual, audio and gameplay bugs, which really ruin the immersion. I can't recommend this, as it left me sour at the end - a game with so much investment but no pay-off.

This game isn't awful, but it's way too generic and copy/paste for what it is. There aren't nearly enough Character missions, the character themselves are bland, which is very egregious, considering Volition's Saints Row series, this game's spiritual predecessor, is chock full of greatly written characters and hilarious writing. Furthermore, the sandbox, while genuinely pretty, is simultaneously too small and too big. It's too small, in that travel from one place to the next happens way too quickly, and it's too big because there's not nearly enough going on in the sandbox to justify its massive space. If you want to play a crime sandbox by Volition, any of the Saints Row games will be a better purchase, and if you want a massive sprawling sandbox, grab on of the Just Cause games. Agents Of Mayhem could have been great, but it's so painfully mediocre, I can't recommend it in good conscience.

I think this game is somewhat overlooked by people that were expecting just another Saints Row game. Sure, AoM does take some cues from there as well as some characters, but it sets up its own crafted universe and has well-fleshed out characters and an engaging story. The action is not flawless, as I did have a few times where I had to restart because of a glitch that prevented a mission from loading to the next area, but restarting and picking back up where I left off fixed that error. A lot of the earlier issues people reported when the game launched have been fixed. Overall, it was a fun nearly 80 hours that I put in with vibrant colors, fun characters and interesting villains to fight.

Agents of Mayhem is one of the most underrated games that I have ever played. The game reminds me a lot of Borderlands in the visual aspect. The loot chests and hidden shards make exploration of the open world more fun. The variety of characters, their unique skills and animations, and backstories with personal origin quests/stories are brilliantly done. The only complaint that I will have at the end of this, is that there is not more. This is a brilliantly executed game, with nearly no issues at all.

The story has a very comic book feel to it, which is enjoyable and humorous. The villain is very villainous, while the heroes are almost anti-heroes. The game also builds groundwork for many things to be expanded on, like the backstories of almost all of the heroes have cliffhangers, as if more was going to come out on it. I suppose that the bad reception canceled that, sadly. I would have liked to see the direction this would have gone.

The game has a lot to offer for an initial playthrough, but as you complete everything, it becomes redundant. If the game had been more successful, I assume the DLC and other updates would have been a mountain of content to expand the Mayhem multiverse.

The only issue that I have found so far, is that the game crashes frequently while displayed in HDR, which is my only complaint, but upon turning that off, I have had no further bugs or issues at all.

The game is definitely for the more mature audience, and is very amusing and enjoyable. The creators of this game have a great sense of humor.

In short, this game is the whole package. Agents of Mayhem is very well made in terms of gameplay, graphics, story, execution and voice acting.

I absolutely loved the game.

I loved the story and the graphics and layout were nice, I don't quite understand the bad rep it was getting at the start, I enjoyed the story and I got immersed with the characters, even the ones I didn't quite like playing as.

My only problem with it is the co-op contract's which in all honesty isn't that fun or great, you get 3 online daily contracts that random people can join or you can join you can't see the people who you do the contracts with other than their names that they joined and often the people who join the contracts don't do anything to help! Multiplayer would have been a great optional play mode but you never added it, the achievement for it was also pretty annoying some contracts weren't doable for the day.

It's refreshing to play an open-world game which doesn't involve being a criminal in a real world setting. Instead this is set in a bright comic-book sci-fi world pitting the 'Agents of Mayhem' against their nemesis aka the Legion (think Cobra in GI Joe).

This is fundamentally fun to play despite its shortcomings. The combat is enjoyably chaotic and the 'tag-team' system works pretty well with the cast of wacky characters (including a minigun wielding amazon on roller skates, a German football hooligan who literally explodes with rage, a Russian Mr Freeze and an ex Hollywood film star who can turn any fight into a blockbuster scene with his mayhem ability). It's deliberately cheesy and though the humour is sometimes cringe-inducing, the overall light-heartedness combined with the bright and colourful setting of a sci-fi Seoul makes this an uplifting game to play.

The futuristic version of Seoul is refreshingly colourful, though it can feel strangely lifeless when the Legion aren't around (there are civilians and vehicles, but interaction is basically limited to collateral damage and car collisions). Fortunately thanks recurring random events (including stopping a variety of doomsday devices, taking/retaking strongholds and clearing hidden bases) there is always something to do, even if these events can feel repetitive after a while (you're always fighting a variety of Legion enemies). In this regard it sometimes feels like a lightweight comic based mmo.

There is a story to follow which is of course quite silly and full of comic-book tropes, but I spent most of the time doing the random city events to level up my characters, unlock gear, skins etc. However once you've finished the story and are done with upgrading characters, doing the random city events starts to feel pointless without any need for the rewards. I think the main problem here is that the only enemy faction in the game is the Legion, and while fighting them is fun for a while, eventually it gets old fighting the same types of enemies all the time. It's a shame because the Seoul setting is visually great, but the free-roam experience gets old due to the repetitive nature of the random events.

While it has a wonderful setting, fun combat and interesting character/team building, in the long run the game is let down by the lack of variety in its free roam aspect. Because of the former it wouldn't be fair to give a thumbs down, but the thumbs up is qualified by the lack of longevity.

Not nearly as bad as it was made out to be upon release, but it's also not exactly good. Worth a look if you can get it for cheap.

Some particular characters are very fun to play (Oni, Scheherazade, Gat), but others are a chore. The character switching mechanic in general is just a bit too slow and awkward to actually be fun, and I would say the same for most of the gameplay in general having just slightly too much jank to be truly good.

By far the biggest flaw though is that it's filled with a ton of extremely cookie cutter missions where you're completing the same objectives in the same underground lair over and over again.

PC port is mostly OK. It looks pretty nice once you turn off the motion blur and outlines, but it does occasionally have some pretty nasty audio bugs.

This game still has massive issue with controller support over 3 years later. It's not uncommon for the game to straight up crash from simply having a controller connected. If it doesn't crash, then you'll have to keep trying controller configurations and hoping it will detect it. Once you're finally in, you're met with terrible optimization and an unintersting gameplay loop. At least the cutscenes are pretty. Don't buy it. Play Saints Row or Sunset Overdrive instead.

You don't play this game for the story or it's charachters. You play it for the dumb fun that you can have slaughtering enemies. It isn't the deepest or the most polished game, but it sure is fun and deffinetly reccomended if you have some money on the side.

Pros:
- Very colorful futuristic scenery of Seoul, South Korea
- Endless activities to participate pre and post story campaign
- Unique background stories to each playable character
- Lots of Easter eggs and references of Saint's Row in Agents of Mayhem
- Combat is fun and challenging at higher difficulties

Cons:
- 99% of Legion Lairs are pretty much cut and paste in terms of objectives and layout of the lairs. They all look the same every time.
- Vehicle A.I can get extremely annoying sometimes
- Very corny and not so funny inside jokes throughout the game. Worse than SR4 and SR:GOT.
- The game is set in an alternate reality after events of Gat Outta Hell, so you'd think Johnny Gat would automatically be a playable character as well as Kinzie, but they are DLC and you have to buy them to play as them (MAJOR disappointment)

I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand it's a fun game filled with many possibilities for stuff to do in it. But after a while after completing the campaign and obtaining every single collectible and skin in the game, it just becomes a chore to fulfill contracts to earn achievements. One of them involving the aid of other players at their own pace completing a contract via public joinable contracts. Half of the time are near impossible to achieve 2 out of 3 sometimes and there is no progress bar telling you how much further you are to getting the achievement, as well as being limited to 3 contracts per day.

Over all I would not recommend this game at full price if you intend to buy this for the experience. Best to wait for it to go on sale and make your decision then. It is fun, but if you're a completionist looking to get all the achievements I'd advise getting contracts done A.S.A.P as I learned half way into completing the campaign that you had to manually select the daily contracts yourself.

Agents of Mayem was kind of disappointing. It definitely isn’t a bad game, but I personally expected more from it, as I know and love the Saints Row series. Just know, that you can’t compare the games.

Agents of Mayhem is also humorous. The story is less interesting thought. The character and villains are well designed, and I loved how many agents there are to play. They are all unique and fun to play.

The comic art style is great, and the graphics are awesome. The soundtrack is fine.

The gameplay itself is fun, but very repetitive. You will drive (you have a variety of 10 cars that can be unlocked) to a certain address, shoot enemies, scan the environment to find a secret entrance, hack the entrance, enter the legion’s secret base and kill all enemies/explode the base. And you will have to do this again and again. The problem is, that the secret bases are almost always identical. This makes the game too repetitive and sometimes boring.

The mission that I appreciated the most was the one against Ariadne. The environment and the ambient changed and I was grateful for that change.

Nevertheless, it was fun to play this game. I would have preferred a shorter campaign though (due to the repetitiveness).

The game would be more fun if it had a multiplayer/coop.

PS: I recommend you buying Saints Row (3 and 4), if you haven’t yet. They are way better than Agents of Mayhem.

I just finished the campaign and I can honestly say that it was enjoyable despite feeling repetitive towards the end. Felt like an open world overwatch :)

The Good

+ Good variety of heroes - most have a unique gimmick which sets them apart (My favorites were Kingpin, Scheherazade and Fortune)
+ The game looks gorgeous! It was refreshing to have Korea as the setting.
+ Villains (bosses) were really memorable and funny (especially August Grant)
+ Adjustable difficulty which allows you to enjoy the story
+ Easy to get most achievements in a single playthrough

The Bad

- The missions felt repetitive towards the end. (could have had more variety).
- Gremlin Tech (consumables) felt unnecessary and mostly underwhelming.
- Higher difficulty just makes the enemies bullet sponges and not really any smarter.
- The legion bases. The interiors looked very similar and could have had more variety.
- Some heroes felt underwhelming

All in all, it's not a perfect game but still worth a playthrough especially if you can get the game on a discount.

Maybe people should play this game for what it is, a solid and astonishing vertical open world shooter with a bunch of crazy heroes and crazy stories, and not for what it's not, a new Saint Row... Maybe then they will appreciate this pretty good game.

This game is exactly what it is being advertised as:

upsides:

Yakuza! Best character with best gunplay.

A casual goofy fantasy hero-shooter with a lot of SR references, perfect comic story sequences, nice characters with at least some depth.

Graphics are very good for this kind of game. Cams a bit off at times, but nothing too serious.

Soundtrack and voice acting are marvellous. If you think you´ll find The Last Of Us 2 character depth - look a bit longer into that toilet of yours.

Part of the AI is not as dumb as the Division 2 AI.

neutral:

A lot of heroes, a lot of weapons and a lot of kills...maybe too many. I only play with the initial three characters.

downsides:

This game will be valued differently over time...more positive.

The difficulties: yeah: I won´t play on harder difficulties because that means you just have to work on an enemy for a way longer time....not because the AI gets more intelligent...but because the enemy gets more bullet-spongy.

Dungeoncrap.

An amazing idea turned sour by having a world too small with little variety for the kind of gameplay it has. The game plays great, and I love the different agents. I never felt like an agent was useless, though I definitely had my personal preferences. The difficulty gets real easy real fast, even in the maximum difficulty you'll often feel like you'd only lose if you'd really got bored and stopped paying attention.

I wish Steam had a mixed score for games like this, but as it stands I can only recommend this game to fans of Saints Row and definitely not at its regular price tag. This game is worth 15 bucks tops, and there are too many DLCs for the amount of content there is.

Honestly? It's... fine. It's a bit like a cross between Saints Row 4 and Overwatch, in that its basically a class based shooter set in an open world. After the tutorial, the first few missions were very repetitive and quite boring, making you do basically the same mission multiple times, and I lost interest at about two hours in. I also managed to get MASSIVE frame drops in certain parts of the overworld, despite the rather simplistic style that should be easily managed by a 1060 (which is the card in the recommended specs).

If you can get it super cheap like I did (I paid less than $4AUD! in total for the game and all DLC), then sure, give it a try, but if it's full price (nearly $90AUD if you get all the DLC), I'd say to give it a miss. If you liked Saints Row 4 and were expecting something similar, be prepared to be disappointed. The best way I can describe it is soulless.

A game with an identity crisis, it just doesn't seem to know what to do with itself.

Everything is overly gamified and the overall structuring of missions/gameplay just adds to the lifeless atmosphere this game has. Which is a real shame because it's clear the framework they used has a lot of potential.

You start a mission by selecting it from the menu, you are then spawned right in front of a marker to start a very generic cartoon cut scene, and are then tasked with performing some uninspired linear task.
The missions are clearly padded with arbitrary nonsense. You continuously have to do every task in folds of three, which add nothing to the overall story other than increasing the amount of time you spend.

The characters all shout out random catch phrases to each other which are supposedly meant to represent conversations.

While there are a lot of different characters, they all seem to do somewhat the same thing. The extra skills you unlock don't seem to do anything noticeably different for the most part. The fact that you can just switch to another character on the fly just removes any emotional attachment you might have to one particular character.

It seems this game was designed purely on paper and no thought was given to the actual experience while playing it. It's like an even worse version of Crackdown 3.

Keep in mind that even though I'm adding it as positive. I genuinely enjoyed bits of this game, but you're gonna have to research a lot and roll the dice on this one if you want to try it out.

In Saints row Gat out of Hell, one of the endings to it was the reshaping of the universe. In this ending Gat picks the choice to where God himself recreates Earth but everyone begins to live different lives in this universe. The ending shown in gat out of hell seems different to what it's supposed to be shown in Agents of Mayhem even though it still shows that Gat is now a cop while some from the franchise like Kinzie and Pierce are living different lives. Knowing that there is possibly different universes and speculations within Saints Row or other games, this is the most possible speculation in the Saints row universe, but that's not the case.

This game is not a Saints Row game, not even a sequel, and it's possibly not even canon. This game is entirely a spinoff. This is one of Volition's newest open world third person shooters, where it adds a lot of reference to the Saints Row franchise but it tries to act as an entirely different game among all other Saints Row games, making it more futuristic than all the others. In the previous games you were a gang leader, you were a celebrity, and you ended up being a president. In this game you're none of that, as you play as different agents, with a variety of weapons, looks and personalities in a goofy, saturday morning cartoon-like world.

What is the game exactly about?
Pretty much in terms of story, Agents of Mayhem takes place in Seoul South Korea where a large secret group of villains known as LEGION try to take over the city. Pretty much with a cliche, there's a group of agents from around the world trying to stop them. These agents who had different pasts and goals are recruited by Persephone, and they all want to stop Babylon.

To make it short:
The gameplay overall isn't particularly bad, but at some point you feel like the game becomes a grind for cosmetics, blueprints, levels, upgrades and etc. You basically do almost the same things over and over. While in the Saints Row games you complete certain activities and they're pretty much done and you complete the map; this game has you doing an infinite amount activities, and contracts to do with other players, making it a really long grind. There is always activities to do in the open world, as it always pops out anytime in the map. The gameplay is basically you run around, switch characters with different weapons and traits, and if you're playing on a really high dificulty you just dodge or jump all over the place to not die, keep repeating that and you'll be pretty much set. This game plays more like Crackdown than GTA in the end, so if you like that style of gameplay with a switching of characters then it's really fun to get into.

In terms of open world you'll be doing the same things such as:
-Running around certain checkpoints before the time is over.
-Driving and racing against time
-Hostage rescues
-Defending certain points
-Stopping certain points
-Stealing vehicles and destroying vehicles
-Going through different dungeons with almost the same tilesets and rinse and repeat.

The game gets pretty boring really quickly if you continue to do these same tasks, but if you don't mind trying to level the characters on a really high dificulty, while repeating the same thing in an empty open world environment you'll have a blast.

Not to mention this game is incredibly buggy. While the gun play and shooting turns out to be really fun and addictive, the driving and the questing tends to bug out a lot. You'll end up with game breaking bugs and glitches everywhere to the point you'll have to restart your game a few times. You're going to experience problems such as:
- Artifacts and texture glitches
- Missions failing without any reasoning
- Some vehicles getting destroyed and not rewarding you
- Missions not being accepted
- The menu that lets you pick missions, ARK or map being stuck on screen and not letting you move or attack and many more, leaving you frustrated after a while

In terms of story, It's not that great. You don't really expect anything anything special, and seeing each villain's reasoning on why they are evil, and why do x thing in the baddest way possible it ends up being dumb and really generic. Persephone turns out to be useless in the very end, pretty much using her agents all the time to do a number of dangerous tasks while criticizing them and treating them like trash, and meanwhile some of the agents have the dumbest reasons to actually be part of the agency. Ex. Hollywood. After hours of playing through the game, the ending felt unsatisfying (Not a spoiler), as it feels like you gain basically nothing after finishing through the game. The soundtrack is god awful, while the stock OST is actually not that bad the driving OST tends to be trash. While the Saints Row games have had a really good radio stations and choices to have, this game has nothing of that. All you're going to hear is really trashy licensed EDM music that you'd find at a YouTube tutorial.

Overall, it's mediocre at best. If you're going to try it out and you don't mind how unpolished and unfinished the game turned out to be, you'll have a decent experience. The major problem with this game was how rush it felt, and how heavily advertised the game was about how it was supposed to be a Saints Row game when it didn't turn out to be one. In reality, it's not worth the full price, and it's not worth more than 5 neither. With the lack of multiplayer, lack of polishing and the amount of game breaking bugs and glitches plus an uninteresting and somehow empty open world it's sad to see how much potential was wasted.

Give it a try and play it at your own risk, because this game is a hit or miss. In my opinion it's not worth going back to or replaying after finishing unlike the Saints Row franchise.

Overall - A disappointment

Average and uninspired are two words that describe AoM the best. There is nothing *bad* here, but everything is so damn average with some flashes of originality (like playing with 3 heroes at once), but those soon fade away and mediocrity arises.

Just like Saints Row before, story is completely irrelevant here. It should be goofy open world game where you blow stuff up, while your characters speak some funny lines. Problem is, nothing is funny here. Bunch of stereotype characters that spew line after line of jokes that almost never land. Voice acting is decent to be honest if that matters to you.

Visually - also average. Framerate will be rock solid most of the time, with occasional drops during heavy combat. Since it happens rarely I would rather put that on bad optimization of certain areas. Also, I had several freezes during load times. So in the end, there is nothing absolutely wrong here, but nothing memorable as well.

And now the reason why I stopped playing just before the end - missions are BLOODY REPETITIVE. Almost all missions play out the same. Rooms and objectives all start to feel a bit too familiar after certain point. Unfortunately for me, I put 19 hours into it, because after 2-3 hours game actually starts being fun (dumb but fun), and it holds for a few hours... after that is all downhill. After 15 hours I was forcing myself to finish just for the sake of it... but I couldn't.

So in the end, if you can get it for free or maybe few bucks and you want some mindless fun - think about it. Just don't expect anything remotely memorable.

I been playing this game for a while and I think It doesnt deserve all the negativity.
Is it boring to shooting enemies over and over? Just as boring as it is in any other openworld TPS.
NO its not. Your not limited to 1 character you have 17 which you can personalise to your liking with different gadgets altering the characters behaviour.
You take 3 characters and you can switch between them any time you want altering your gameplay every second if you want to.
If you dont see the appeal in that than I feel sorry for you.
I played 10+ hours so far and never even for a second felt boring.
The world is fantastic its so vibrant so beautiful so futuristic and visually looks amazing.
The characters are so good to play with. you start having the 3 basic characters the typical tank shotgun guy the assault rifle grenade guy and the dual smg wielding hacker. After that every new character gets a unique introduction to its background story and you have to play a mission with it to really get a proper feel of the character.
The open world is packed with stuff to do. Explore and you will find chests everywhere rewarding you or just walk around let the world sink in and you will find many other things like cars to deliver hostages to rescue machines to destroy races to complete the list goes on and on.
The only real negative side is the fact that you cant play it with your friends.
I wanted to write a more detailed Review but It would be way too long.
Its a great game that clearly deserves better.

At 3 hours in, I feel like this game is enjoyable. I know people are complaining its not like saints row and I find it weird that they say that. It is like Saint's Row. The combat feels very similar in the perspective and the feel in the enemies response to your shots. The main difference I experienced is that you swap characters rather than weapons and you have cool special powers with cooldowns depending on the hero you are playing as. You run around getting collectibles and doing various things around the world.
I really liked the cutscenes and the cheesy lines while visiting the ark. I think the game knows what it is going for and does it well. I haven't played it enough to see how many missions there are but it has been a satisfying game thus far. I will add more as I play.
At 6 hours, I got a good base and was able to crank up the difficulty a bit. This game does the thing where it rewards you with bonus xp and cash on the harder difficulty you play. I like this method as it basically encourages you to push yourself as much as possible to where the game is still playable. As I level up and get more tech and more competent agents, I gain a lot more flexibility and the mayhem abilities become super fun and satisfying. I conquered the passive money generation points and was able to purchase nearly every upgrade as they become available for my agent level. There are still countless things I haven't done. It feels very much worth it so far.
At 16 hours, still fighting new villians and doing quest. I have to admit the lairs are little repetitive but its still fun if you are rotating characters and changing the difficulty to the recommended each time.
Overall opinion: I bought the game for $5 on sale for the complete pack. To me it is a steal at that price. Given my exposure to the game I would say it is worth $30 for the complete pack. I only say that because despite the humor, it does feel too repetitive at times. Saints row was more fun as it had multiplayer and a ton of fun weapons and more upgrades and the activities didn't feel the same at all. They were varied and more interesting. It was also funnier. That said, I still find the game fun and worth it.

???? AGENTS OF... *BARFS* M-MAYHEMM ????

Its really not half bad, kinda reminds me of Fortnite, which I never played and never will... as well as Overwatch, which I hated every second of, so I suppose the best analogy I can think of is when 2 degenerate cousins conceive an offspring and against all odds that child comes out fine. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed and he might love to eat his boogers but he's an upstanding citizen who pays his taxes and wouldn't dare touch his cousin even if she comes on to him.

Don't do the side activities and don't expect a Saints Row and you'll have fun

I'd read the reviews that said this gets repetitive, but I had a good time.

Probably a lot of people did the side activities without realising they're infinite and just ways to get more 'loot' faster, so were worn out. Especially by the identical copy / paste dungeon-esque 'lairs'.

While it's unique in that it's set in Seoul in Korea, it's more just a nameless futuristic sterile city. But while it's cartoony, the graphics go hard on reflections, lighting and neon, so the game still looks great at times.

This is not another Saints Row. The only thing it has in common is all the purple. You won't be driving much in a car, nor customising them, nor messing around with gangs. This is just a fun little shooter with a small undetailed map, no real radio, a light plot... but still a good 7/10.

As a fan of the Saint's Row series, it is difficult to overstate the immense disappointment that the same people who created that could create this garbage. It's not just because it's tacky, PG, has poorly written dialogue, no character is remotely interesting, the game play is bad, the combat has never even heard of fun, feels like you're abducted into every cut scene due to the delay after the line to prompt the cut scene, the humor is made for very young kids, or the very stiff driving, it's mostly those things, but also this game feels bad to play.

I'm not sure where this game went wrong exactly. I don't know why this game released at $60. I don't know why its current base price is $30 either.

It's a shame because it starts out pretty interesting. Funny quips, a cast that looks like it can be really fleshed out given some time, a medium sized overworld with items to collect and places to explore. The problem for me started with the repetition and I mean re-used levels. *The same LEGION infiltration areas are re-used for so many missions* that exploring them for your 10th time only serves to remind you that there was a lack of level design for these missions. There seemed like there was a lot of love put into the overworld, but not nearly as much for these other areas.

I feel like this game could have been better with fewer heroes with more fleshed out backstories and more intra-ARK storylines. It felt like they spent a LOT of money on voice acting and it shows. The voice acting is great, but it seemed like they could have been utilized more effectively by having less with more meaningful conversations. I don't fault this game for having corny lines; it's going for that vibe and I think it works in this world very well.

Some of the achievements are also kind of annoying. Having to finish all operations at a certain difficulty, but it doesn't seem to track which you did at that difficulty in the UI. Also, the world contracts seem like they were made to be done with 5-10 people actively participating in them, but they haven't been balanced for when no one is playing the game (like, currently and probably a month or two after it released)

I'm hoping when this Saints Row 3 remake/remaster comes out they can land on their feet again. I'm grateful this was in a Humble Bundle, but avoid this otherwise unless you're paying $10-15 or so and have nothing else to play.

THIS IS N O T A SAINTS ROW GAME

If you go into this game expecting it to be a saints row game you will be heavily disappointed, If you go into this game not expecting that but instead thinking of it as its own thing or even a spin off I think you will enjoy it a lot, the game play is fun, the story, while a little cliché is still full of fun characters and an interesting world to explore, is it worth $30? certainly no, but if you can pick it up for $10 on a sale you will definitely get your moneys worth.

For those who came from Saints Row series and are willing to play this game: this is neither a SR new title, nor a SR spin-off, it’s a completely different game of a completely different genre, which though utilizes a lot of SR assets for fan and marketing purposes.

Initially, I also started the game because I considered it a SR successor and wanted to finish whole series. However, with such idea after about 5 hours I really wanted to abandon the game, write a negative review and forget about it, because it had totally nothing what made SR series good. Still, I watched some videos and decided to give a game another chance. And after another 5 hours of pain and ordeal I finally found out the true nature of the game and gameplay style to enjoy it.

So, the main problem of the game, apart from totally screwed marketing, which created nearly a SR series reboot in the heads of some fans, is that the game itself prevents you from enjoying it at the start. You don’t have any extra agents, skins or vehicles to use, so you are left with mediocre shooter, which gets boring pretty quickly. However, when you finally start to unlock new agents ( and also tech, vehicles and skins) by going through sometimes weakly made personal missions, start to test different builds and set the appropriate difficulty which gives you feeling of “barely made it” you truly start to enjoy game. So my recommendation will be to imminently start unlocking new agents once you are given a chance(you will see personal mission tab in the mission list) and also set high difficulty and keep it so the game is not easy (but also not too hard) for you.

However, there is one more drawback, which I really dunno how to explain. Finally, Volution made a game with different characters, so it should be fun to play it together. And it would be, if the game had co-op. I really don’t understand why they didn’t include it, because going by 3 agents separately would make the game ever more tactic than switching to needed heroes. But okay, maybe I don’t understand a thing about the game and switching characters is a core mechanic, but why couldn’t we have a usual multiplayer than? Regular modes like deathmatch, flag capture, survival and etc. It would add even more to the game than just co-op and would expand it’s lifespan greatly. But no, now you can master your skills with heroes and find perfect builds but you simply don’t have any way to show them and compete with other players.

So, what the verdict will be? If you like hardcore semi-class-based shooters, and fan of experimenting and testing various builds, you are likely to enjoy this game. Just keep in mind that you have to progress through it to some extent to really start having fun and that there is not much left to do once you master your skills and builds.

P.S. And forget about claims that this is just a lame overwatch clone, the only thing similar to overwatch here is characters with detailed lore and motivations, the core gameplay and mechanics are completely different.I’m actually fed up with these accusations of some games being a parody on some else game, which has similar ideas but managed to come out earlier and gain more popularity.

Broken gameplay and the final quest is a janky janky mess. It's sad because this game had some serious potential with its fun characters but that got dragged to hell and below by the incoherent mess that are the missions and the god-awful driving. Just do yourself a favour and spend your 28 hours watching paint dry because that would be a heck of a lot more rewarding then this game that rewarded me finally finishing it with a bloody infinite loading screen.

Movement all runs as if it's running around 20 fps when the game itself runs at 60, not to mention the 30gb game stalls at random intervals.

As a Saints Row fan, it's sad to see the movement being the deal breaker.

This is a fun game. As a 3rd person shooter, players get to destroy stuff, drive in the city, and generally shoot the whole place up. It is quite repetitive, as you will shoot the same enemies and capture the same locations again and again, but it is all fun. Recruiting new heroes and leveling them up is great. I played on PS4 when I had a console and it is a decent game.

The movement and shooting mechanics work well. Special powers are also neat as each agent gets a minor and a major power to use. There are a bunch of agents and players have to unlock these agents as they play. There are many collectibles to find. Just exploring the city is fun.

I know it is not for everyone but Agents of Mayhem is a fun - and funny - game to play. I bought it dirt cheap on sale and sometimes it is a neat game to play.

Nice graphics, hit or miss comedy, really uninspired mission design, and bugged achievements. Saints Row 3 or 4 are a long way ahead of this.

A fun a vibrant game.
Lots of depth to the characters. Everyone has it's own story. Sad to see they are short tho. Would have loved to see them open up a bit more. Maybe next game.
Traversing the city is also fun and rewarding too.
The main story is as advertised. Saturday morning hero squad cartoons. All the whack and silliness. Marvelous.
Would recommend. 10/10. Game is stable and ran quite smooth on a 7-8yo machine.
The music in VR missions(training/challenge) is good to the point I lowered every other sound but music for those.
Nice to see such a lovechild of a game.

There are elements of the game that make it feel unfinished. Like other cities on the world map that should have been playable but the creators not got around to making them so we got stuck playing ONLY in Korea which isn't a bad thing, its a cool city.

Where the game fails is the repetitive mission types in the game that feel very well... repetitive. So while you will have fun exploring the various characters fighting styles against the same old bad guys, you will inevitably become bored.

So why am I giving this a thumbs up? Well the game does some things right. The characters are interesting and unique in their own ways. The parody of G.I. Joe is laced into the plot but it makes the game fun. Hearing the characters chat with one another while you play brings some great dialogue banter. You will replay certain mission not because you want to do some achievement but because you want to hear the dialogue and that says something about the writers.

The LAST reason why I like this game is because I think there should be a part 2. A more completed version of the game with more levels, better plot, and ALOT more mission variety. The GI Joe Parody, Characters, and Dialogue are gold stars and Agents of Mayhem (while not a massive success) deserves an expansion of their world.

This game is a totally great if half-baked departure from the Saints Row franchise. Don't expect to spend 100 hours in the game, but the plot is a wonderfully corny 80s cartoon ripoff and the characters are immense fun to unlock and play.
