About ARK Park
ARK Park is a virtual reality multiplayer adventure game designed from the ground up to immerse players in a realistic dinosaur theme park. This interactive experience will fulfill your dreams of entering a world where living, breathing dinosaurs still roam the Earth. Freely explore this grand, virtual world where there's no set plot line or schedule. Join your friends in multiplayer park tours to share the thrill of witnessing over a hundred prehistoric creatures up-close and personal.

Features:
  • Explore the Expansive Scenery of ARK Park: Visit over 10 unique scenes alone or with a group of friends.
  • Collect Dinosaur DNA, Gather Materials, and Craft Items: Collect DNA and materials from the dinosaurs you encounter on your excursions, trade them for Engrams at your base camp, then use those Engrams to craft helpful items.
  • Raise Your Very Own Dinosaurs: During your excursions throughout the park, you may be lucky enough to collect a rare dino egg. Take good care of it until it hatches, and you’ll be able to raise your own dinosaurs from hatchlings to adulthood. Some dinos may even grow to be large enough to ride!
  • Defend Vital Technology: Dinosaurs aren’t the most docile creatures - band together with other ARK Park visitors to defend important research outposts and valuable technology from rampaging dinos!

Kleines ÜBERTEUERTES Dinoabenteuer in VR.

Love Ark: Survival Evolved, and this game uses the same charm, but it doesn't keep you enthralled in it. It was a wonder at first, then it grew same-y and didn't have much going for it. A good buy on a 70% sale, but otherwise I would avoid this.

while remembering,it is a game. With that said tons of potential once VR progresses more, this game, straight out is gorgeous. If you're new to the VR experience this is a good start. Purchased at reg price and so far haven't regretted it(only played about 30 mins so far) but excited to progress more. I definitely would like to see the full Ark:survival evolved done in this manner it would be phenomenal.

Ok, a few things. Since 99% of these reviews say basically the same thing, I'll mention something that hasn't been mentioned yet.

1: The game supposedly has DLC but said DLC doesn't exist or is ever even mentioned in an update patch. The trailers that 'hint' this DLC are nothing more than click bait.

2: Hatching eggs. So, I normally don't mind games that use real time to do stuff such as hatching a dino egg, but.....I got a Mech Rex egg which takes 14 hours(real time) to hatch. So ok, I put it in the incubator and play for a while. Before I left the game for the night, it had about 10 or 11 hours left so I figured I'd get it the next day. Went back the next day only to find that the timer had reset back to 14 hours. Conclusion for this: You have to leave your PC and VR headset running for the entirety of the egg hatch time, or you'll forever have an egg in the incubator. Since you can't remove eggs after placing them, I literally can't hatch any new dinos.

3: I don't think I need to mention anything about graphics and gameplay....Like I said, 99% of the reviews already cover that.
Don't waste your $$ it's not worth it.

Will it VR?: Not nearly as well as you'd like.

I love ARK. It's a great game. You hunt dinosaurs. You tame dinosaurs. You ride dinosaurs. You get impaled by dinosaurs. What's not to love?

ARK Park is not ARK, and there is not so much to love. It feels more like an expensive tech demo that a game, trading on the cool dinos and fanbase of ARK but delivering very little in terms of exploration, adventure, or fun. Yes, the dinosaurs still look cool, and yes, you can still ride them (sort of, on-rails). But nothing about it made me want to come back and explore more. ARK in VR seems like it would be very cool (I do not have an Oculus device, so can't verify). But ARK Park is, unfortunately, just disappointing.

Summary:
Graphics: 4/5
Immersion: 2/5
Fun: 2/5
Comfort: 4/5
Fitness: 1/5

Trust the reviews on this one: It's absolutely terrible

There was so many bad things about it, it only took the trainride at the start to make me refund it.

No Rotation via controller - All HMD based

Parts of the world were poorly made - Could see through terrain and could see the map edge on the water, not to mention if you turn around during the train ride, you can see the map despawning behind you.

Graphics were atrocious - Super blurry and unrendered

Little to no support for controllers outside of the Vive

Clearly this game was made by an inept group of people - Gamejam contenders have better polish than this, and they only have on average a week

DO NOT BUY THIS POOR EXCUSE OF A VR GAME

Ok first up this game will load for more than 10 mins only to crash, i am running a 3.3ghz cpu with 32gig 3000mhz ssd and a 2080 super, it says its for htc vive but it will just crash over and over and over, i have asked for a refund and been rejected as from their point a view it should load, a quick online search shows that this is not the case, this game does not work on vive without stuffing around and coding and re-vive, this is not the nightmare i thought i was buying. i thought it would be like every other VR game and actually load and i thought if not i could get a refund on this POS. Steer clear of this very broken game, if it can't load whats the point?

It is incredibly content lacking. It's more of a tech demo than an actual game. What little content there is actually isn't bad and if you've played regular ARK then seeing the dinos in VR at actual scale is pretty incredible. If there was more content and this felt like a full game I'd give it a positive rating but for the price and the very very little content there is in this game I just cant recommend it in its current state.

I love ARK, ploughed a great many hours into it, but this .... it's nothing like ARK, it's a walk through experience and I'm not a fan of those. I had only heard bad things about it, I get why they attempted to make this a VR thing, and there's no denying they put in some work to build this, I applaud that, for a visual VR experience it's alright, the sound design leaves a lot to be desired though, that really doesn't help the immersion. I only bought this because it appeared to be 'trending' at the time, so I thought 'Oh! perhaps they've updated it, made it a proper ARK style game', but sadly not. Sorry guys, I don't recommend it.

I feel as though this game does not get the respect it deserves, it as a beautiful mix of Jurassic World and Ark Survival Evolved in a futuristic style, the Crafting system is very much in this game and its thouroughly enjoyable to walk around in specific envionrments, collect DNA fragments, see the local wildlife and collect resources to make equipment which can help u get MORE Recourses or make new weapons to help in your fight against rogue creatures, and on top of this there is a Multiplayer mode which i plan on trying. I do recommend this game, however there are a few bugs.

I have 8 hours left to decide if I want to refund this. I mean.....the potential is there, but at this point I simply don't think the devs give a damn about this title, and there is 0% chance of any improvements or bug fixes in the future. Which is unfortunate because they've done such a great job of improving Ark I would think they'd want to hold up that reputation, but this is a dirty little smudge that I think the Ark franchise would rather shove in the back and forget.

As others have mentioned the game looks NOTHING like the screenshots/trailers. I'm like genuinely offended that they would try to pass that off as what to expect from the game, even on max settings it's not even close. If the trailer above is 4k textures, the actual game is 2k...at best. And unless you have a 2070 or higher, if you want it to run smoothly you'll have to turn those settings down and that 2k turns into 720p. Even though I'm basically right at the recommended requirements, I have to put it on medium and still get a choppy 30-45fps, I can run pretty much every other VR game on max or almost max with 0 fps drops.

But yeah this game is so, so, SO close to being amazing. It has a great foundation with a handful of wrinkles to iron out, but I don't think they ever will be (at least not officially), and unfortunately those few wrinkles are completely immersion breaking. The gameplay is extremely limited (a forgivable offense in current VR if the rest of the experience makes up for it....it doesn't), the textures are meh at best, the screens/trailers are extremely misleading (both visually and gameplay wise), less than consistent frames, and just a general sense of disappointment. I wouldn't even recommend this as a tech demo, there's much better options. It is absolutely NOT worth $40 I dunno wtf they're thinking with that, I don't even think it was worth the $20 I spent. I guess it might be worth $10 if you love Ark and/or dinos, but definitely keep your expectations low.

4/10 If you're new to VR and are looking for a cool dino experience, there are two free Jurassic World demo's that are simply fantastic to watch

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers

You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/VTuqihGIU6U

I don't think this is a bad game. However, I do think it's over-priced for what it is. This could have been worth the full retail price if the developer had focused on what makes this game good at all: the exploration & discovery of several different dinosaurs in their natural habitats (along with other flora & fauna). Unfortunately, as is, this game is not worth the full retail price nor the current sale price of $19.99 USD during the Steam Winter Sale 2019.

So there are three main parts to this game: the exploration, the wave shooter, and the egg hatching / raising a dinosaur. The exploration for me was the absolute best part of this game. Unfortunately, even in the exploration, the focus is not always on the exploration. Instead, you're attention is also on scanning dinosaurs (needed to unlock new exploration areas & for DNA to upgrade your weapons) or on resource collecting (needed for raising dinosaurs). Scanning dinosaurs and resource collecting are immersion breaking from just enjoying the scenes & the sense of exploration. They have blue lines for scanning and obnoxious green lines for the resource gathering.

That's a shame because the scenes look good for the most part. I know some negative reviews mention the bad graphics, but I disagree. These aren't the best graphics I've ever seen in VR or even the best dinosaurs, however, they still look pretty good and the game runs smoothly on my 1060 GTX. You have full locomotion and snap turning available (or teleportation).

Unfortunately, the exploration areas are quite small. They look big at first, but once you start to venture out you realize there's invisible barriers everywhere preventing you from venturing out further. I really think this game could have been worth the full retail price if they had just made these areas larger and really focused on making the interactions better. As is, a lot of the interactions are of the point, highlight, & click variety. The menu UI system is also bad.

It was a close call on whether to recommend this game or not. However, the wave shooter part is really bad. It's a stand still wave shooter with 3 lanes where dinosaurs come straight for the base. You just have to upgrade your weapons by collecting DNA to kill them fast enough. The egg hatching & dinosaur raising is also very tedious and boring. I decided to give up on both of these aspects of the game early on. It is just not worth your time investment. Worst of all though, the screenshots & game play video are seriously misleading. A lot of that shown stuff is not really in the game or even if it is in the game, it's misleading on just how it's part of the game. It gives a false impression of the game.

Rate 4.5/10. I hate that I paid almost $25 USD for this during the Steam Lunar New Year Sale 2019. I definitely would never have purchased it if I had known about the quality of the game content beforehand.

What a surprise! From the video, I expected the visuals to be amazing. Nope. This looks like a turd. So much so that I lost interest in playing it.

Get Robinson: The Journey instead.

After reading the reviews i felt this game would be utter rubbish. My 7 year old daughter and I have played it for the past 3 days (2-3 hours a day) and enjoying searching for the missing items and dino scans we needed and the whole experience is polished and fun. We are still hatching eggs and growing them which takes effort to keep them fed and time. both given gladly to see them get full size.

The dinosaurs are realistic tbh a bit too much sometimes for my daughter and we play it together while the other watches on the monitor. seeing and hearing the wonder in theirs and your voice as seeing these things is amazing. There are things you can do like get in the water and put your head under and catch fish, feeding dinos to help them grow, the wave shooter in the later levels is far too difficult for a child but I stepped up and beat the dinos back . My daughter and i love this game so much and I am so glad i bought it for us to play.

there are also day and night modes which means some things can only be found at night.

i really cannot praise this game enough and anyone who says they completed it in a few hours and it was boring missed the point. they missed the attention detail in the small exploration areas. the way the dinos react to your presence the movement of the leaves as you brush your hand through. this is the next level of VR experience and totally worth the wait and money.

After months of delays, the time has finally to come to get our grubby little hands on the virtual dinosaur park of our dreams. What initially started a Ark, a wonderful massive online first person survival game, has since been spun off into their own little virtual reality playground. You can feed, raise, discover, and shoot a wide variety of dinosaurs and other pre-historic creatures, and of top it all off most of these modes are also accessible to play multiplayer.

Now that sounds pretty cool right, and like your initial ride into the theme park, you might be both overwhelmed and enamored by the possibilities that lie on this island of your dreams, sadly a lackluster movement system and general lack of cohesion kind of crash the party.

The main problem is Ark Park just tries to do too many things at once, I’m still not sure if it’s a crafting game, first person shooter, or educational experience. A menu or a loading screen separates each area, and once inside, most are relatively small. The arrival area is for hopping on a train, and I must say the train ride really is pretty spectacular, but sadly what starts as fireworks turns into sparklers.

You’re dropped off and immediately greeted with another load screen, whatever this is a big game I said, it’ll be fine, it’s gotta load, sadly the area you load into, albeit cool, is very small, and upon leaving, another load screen. This general disconnect echoes throughout the entire title, the menu system feels very outdated compared to the glossy futuristic environments around you, and although it does offer a number of areas to visit, they all feel like just a taste of what truly could have been.

The movement is another nail in the tire, not only is there no settings menu, but your only option for locomotion is teleportation with 30 degree click turning. It works, but in my personal opinion, it’s not in any way optimal. Like most VR developers have come to realize, the players want options, what works for one us is completely immersion breaking for the next, and without any way to customize the game to your liking, it can easily ruin what could have been an amazing title. Now I don’t think a movement system is what could save Ark Park, but I do believe options would make it a much better game.

Now it’s not all a bad trip, I really did enjoy exploring the environments, which do look stunning on PC, but sadly just fall apart into a blurry mess on psvr and with no pro upgrades, the game certainly isn’t the shining star it could be. I also liked using my scanning gun to catalogue new critters and interact with them in the environment, but sadly none of this really offers any replayability. Sure it might be a cool experience to show off your VR to friends, but if you were expecting some next level dinosaur fantasy zoo where you get to be Richard Attenborough, you’re not gonna be too happy.

Finally there is a wave shooter and crafting weapons aspect to the game, but it just doesn’t feel fully fleshed out. The gunplay is extremely low quality for a VR game, and it really just feels kind of tacked on. I can’t comment too much on the multiplayer considering there really weren’t too many people online while I was playing, but it’s really just the same half-hearted gameplay from single player with some more people, not really my cup of tea.

So if I had to throw a rating on this one, it’s looking like a solid C-, which worked for me in high school, but just doesn’t cut it these days. Now like all games, I’m sure some players will enjoy trying to raise dinosaurs, have fun upgrading their weapons, and love defending the various posts. They may not even have a problem with the movement, visuals on psvr, or cohesion. So like any VR game, it’s really more what you personally are looking for in the experience, and I personally think your fifty bucks could be much more happily spent elsewhere. Finally there are a few coming soon areas to the multiplayer section, so make sure you subscribe to stay updated if anything great comes along.
