Den für OFP erstellten Mortar mit der Bezeichnung L16A2 Mortar 81mm kommt nun nach einer Konvertierung von Sander auch in Armed Assault zum Einsatz.

Zu OFP Zeiten wurde ein Mortar für die oder von den Lowland Warriors erstellt. Sander machte sich jetzt daran, diesen für ArmA zu konvertieren und kann uns nun eine erste Version anbieten. Der Mortar hat die Bezeichnung L16A2 Mortar 81mm kann auch Explosiv Geschosse laden und abfeuern. Er hilft dem Infanteristen im Gefecht, auch überlegende Truppen unter Feuer zu nehmen, ausserdem ist er schnell einsatzbereit und wieder abgebaut. Für den ArmA Soldaten ein absolutes Muss!

The archive contains the addon pbo in the folder named Addons and the demomission in the folder named Missions.

The llw_l16.pbo adds a static L16A2 81mm mortar which can be found on side "Independent", category "LLW - Static".

NOTES

The L16A2 addon is capable of firing 5 different high explosive rounds out to a maximum of about 3000 meters. Although the
AI is limited to use of the primary charge, players can take advantage of the longer ranged charge 1 to 4 to bombard
targets at greater distances. For maximum effect in multiplayer sessions another player can act as forward observer to
view the fall of shot and give instructions for adjustment to the gunner.

These values are based on those for the L15A3 HE round.

INFORMATION

The L16A2 81mm mortar is a support weapon currently in service with the airmobile infantry battalions and the marine
infantry battalions of the Dutch armed forces. Every infantry company has an organic mortar section with 3 tubes, each
serviced by a three man crew of commander, gunner and loader. Although in service with the light forces since the 1990's,
the L16A2 is also due to replace the 120mm mortars which are being withdrawn from service with the armoured infantry
battalions of the heavy brigades. The weapon can be broken down into three manpack loads, but is more usually transported
with light vehicles such as the MB290 (airmobile units), the Landrover (marines) or the Fennek AD (armoured infantry). The marine corps also employs a self propelled version mounted on the back of a BV-206 tracked vehicle.

The L16 and its variants are in service with over 39 armies, including the armed forces of Austria, Australia, Bahrain,
Belize, Brazil, Canada, Guyana, India, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway,
Oman, Portugal, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States (as the M252) and Yemen.

Armed Assault - extract the .PBO file, and put them in your \Addons folder or
a modfolder of your choice.

NOTE TO MISSION MAKERS

If you are making a mission for Armed Assault, you will find in the editor on side 'Independent',
category 'LLW - Static' a unit called "L16A2 Mortar".

Be aware that if your make a mission that uses a custom addon, the addon will need to be distributed with your mission.
