You buy this game, congrats. You just bought an incredibly short, incredibly repetitive yet thrilling experience.
The french-revolution-inspired storyline is decent and voice acting is pretty alright, though I personally find Bookers voice to be distractingly deep. (Also, side note: Unlike the rest of the game, Bookers character model is ugly as hell, in my opinion).
I personally love the underlying themes of horror and the unique environments combined with some pretty impressive effects for a PS3 game really make you stay on your toes during your playthrough, there is always something beautiful, terrifying, valuable or interesting to see around the corner.
You should really, really keep in mind though that this is a shooter through and through, there is not as much variety in gameplay as you might expect. Especially with the super linear level design, it feels like Vigors do not add enough variety and depth to combat to really make it outstanding.
Even on a harder Difficulty, this game can also be incredibly easy. That is unless you completely ignore Elizabeth. I finished it with the first pistol you get in the game still sitting there in my inventory. Is that a bad thing? No, not really. Depends on what you want out of a game. If you want a challenge, buy something else.
Overall, can I recommend it? Yes.
But its certainly not a game for everyone to enjoy.

:D Vor allem was die Munition anging, meh.
Geile Grafik, geile Charaktere, geile Musik.

I've now played BIOSHOCK INFINITE three times. When it first came out in 2013, a couple years later and once again in 2022. It still blows me away. It's a gorgeous game with an amazing soundtrack. And the plot / twists continue to amaze me. This just might be my favorite game. Yes, even more than the Elder Scroll games and numerous Zombie shooters. If you haven't played it yet, you really should give it a shot. Doesn't look dated at all even though it's now 9 years old. Also, you can skip Bioshock 1 & 2 and go directly to Infinite if you like. There are a couple things that you'll appreciate much more if you play the others first, but it's not a necessity.

Just played the trilogy for the first time. Loved the remasters of 1 and 2, but god do I hate Infinite. If you want a pretentious story and a linear slog from one shooting gallery to another with poor gunplay, useless plasmids (vigors/magic), scarce ammo with bullet sponge enemies, have all core gameplay elements clash with one another and a story that makes less and less sense the more you look at it, this game nails every one of those points.

As much as I hate the game, I must admit that Columbia is a beautiful place, which makes the wasted potential for fleshing out and exploring this world all the more dissatisfying. On a side note, I do think Songbird is excellently designed and I also loved the Luteces, but other than that everything else sucks. Don't buy this, just watch a review on YouTube or something.

Going to try the DLC and see if it's any good, will update this review if it is.

I was always a little skeptical back in the day thanks to the trailers focussing on the sky battles. I'm so happy to say that this game is incredible. Sure there are some flaws with the story but the characters and setting more than make up for it.

Also Elizabeth makes this quite possibly the best escort game ever. She is never a problem, she doesn't get in the way and helps you constantly by throwing you salt and chocolate.

Combat is a lot of fun, especially quick switching between the Sniper and Hand Cannon. And of course the plasmids/tonics are just as brutal and fun to use as ever.

Bioshock Infinite is definitely worth your time if you haven't played it already. Even better it tends to be on sale pretty often too.

The first two are amazing; however, the third seems underwhelming and rushed both its main campaign and the DLCs. More choices were available in the first two while Infinite only contains one convoluted ending.

Avoid Infinite... Unless Bioshock 4 fixes it then perhaps Infinite may be worth a play through.

After playing it for second time (previously on PS3 back then) the story still caught me off guard, the characters are great with me so easily being attached to both of them, the voice actors/actress are phenomenal, it's rare for me getting excited to find sound recorder collectables just to listen to the characters talking because i was so intrigued with their story telling.
Columbia city is beautiful and even after 8 years the graphic still holds up really nice and some of scenes are breathtaking and made me literally glazing upon the views/scenery for few minutes to enjoy them.

Btw this is maybe controversial for some people but i will say it:
Bioshock Infinite is my favorite between the trilogy and you can't change my mind..
It holds special place in my heart.

How do you improve upon the world of Rapture with its remarkable storytelling and unforgettable characters? You create a whole new universe of infinite possibilities brought to life only by the magic of video games. Having underwent development hell before its release, BioShock Infinite ultimately succeeds in delivering what it set out to be as a fresh new installment that's enjoyable with an ambitious narrative that is contemplated upon long after its conclusion.

BioShock Infinite focuses on the relationship between the main protagonists, Jack and Elizabeth, as well as the political war between the Vox and the government. Although the story is extremely complex at times, its ethical and moral implications are rewarding if dug a little deeper. Personally, I found the opening of BioShock Infinite on par with the original BioShock. Exploring Columbia felt authentic and gave me a weird nostalgic feeling that was constantly felt throughout the whole journey. In terms of gameplay, the new Sky-Hook mechanic is awesome plus the gunplay is faster and more satisfying. Vigors were cool but didn't feel the need to use them as much as with Plasmids from BS1/BS2. Additionally, I found the AI weaker on Normal difficulty, and the Soldiers not as cool as the Splicers. However, the Handymen, Patriots, Firemen and the Boys of Silence were all quite memorable.

BioShock Infinite is more than just a game, it's a representation of what video games can accomplish in terms of storytelling. The beauty of Columbia is not only skin deep but also best described as a living breathing world filled with emotions, captivating stories, intertwined by thought provoking subplots, mixed in with philosophy and quantum physics. And just when you think it can't get any better, Burial at Sea Episode 1 & 2 elevate the experience even further. It wraps up the story perfectly and leaves me with a strong recommendation of the entire BioShock series.

After playing the first two Bioshocks and hearing so much about Infinite, I just have to say it's a great game. Visuals improved a lot, and music is still really good. Gameplay changed quite a bit with new mechanics such as skylines and other stuff.

The story was really enjoyable until the last bit, where I was somewhat confused about it. Not sure if I understood the ending, but I didn't like it as much I guess. There were some things I also didn't quite like, like autosaving checkpoints. Sucked having to quit the game and then re-doing 30 minutes of gameplay and exploration.

There's also the thing with having only 2 weapons. Now I'm not sure if that's because I played on hard, or just the way it is. It's good because it makes you use more weapons, scavenging them as you go, but it's a bit annoying when you just want to use X weapon for a fight and you don't have it.

Overall I had a good time with the game, just wish it was less linear since it would've been nice to be able to explore more of the game.

Spent the last month re-playing through the franchise. Man, I forgot how good these games are. Seriously needed a break from multiplayer FPS games. Haven't completed a campaign for any game in well over 2 years. Finished all 3 of these plus the DLC for Infinite. Start with Bioshock: Remastered, play through it all, the whole story wraps up in a way I really enjoyed!

The gameplay was really fun. The selection of vigors were interesting. I found the Bucking Bronco and Undertow vigors to be the most entertaining to use against enemies. Especially when fighting in the open, where enemies could fall.

The main game's atmosphere is totally different from the previous Bioshock games. The connection between this game and it's predecessors doesn't seem to be clear at first, but the DLCs did a good job at explaining it.

Overall, I would highly recommend playing this game even if you haven't played the first two. It's a great game where you could play differently each time because of it's replayability (for me, atleast).

Flew too close to the sun.

Too Long; Didn't Read: Bioshock Infinite is a mediocre shooter, and an abysmal Bioshock game. Mind-numbing gameplay, infuriating level design and a pretentious story makes it standout as the black sheep of the series. The biggest praise I can give is that everything looks very pretty thanks to good art direction.
I’d recommend Bioshock Infinite to lobotomy patients, the mentally handicapped, and those looking to farm steam points by endlessly screenshotting the campaign.

????️The Gameplay????

While no means perfect, it’s hard to deny that the original Bioshock has far better gameplay than what’s on offer here. Infinite plays like a generic “bro-shooter game” that has been stitched together with the rotting corpse of the Bioshock franchise in order to make the game seem much deeper than it truly is.

Bioshock Infinite is a linear story told in open-ended levels, similar to the previous games, but with some noticeable changes. You can’t make impactful decisions, you can’t effect the ending, fetch quests are now main missions as opposed to exploring and finding key items on their own. You can no longer carry multiple health kits, no manual saving, respawn is always on, and you can only carry two guns now. While I’m all for change to keep a series interesting, these aren’t changes, this is dumbing down gameplay to be more approachable and less challenging.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2678551251
Two guns means you will always be on the hunt for ammunition or a different weapon to swap with. As opposed to the previous games design that each weapon serves a different purpose, Infinite’s guns are either automatics with poor damage, or single fires rifles. Melee is now a spammable button and trying to use it beyond the beginning of the game is just a waste of time.

Upgrading a weapon is now just a purchase from a vending machine, but with scarce ammo and the two-weapon limit, it’s a waste of cash to upgrade a favourite or common weapon, because it’s almost guaranteed the next level will have different guns lying around. And near the end of the game when you’re in desperate need of supplies, the game introduces copies of the weapons, all of which dilute the weapon pool further, and all require their own upgrades as well.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2678554725
Plasmids return, now being called Vigors. They require their own version of Eve, now called Salts. Vigors are all either stuns or damage dealers, and the more you use them, the more you realise just how similar they all are. The only standout one is possession, which can turn enemies into brief-companions. It also allows you to briefly hack turrets, which removes all the challenge that came with hacking in the previous titles. They also can be upgraded with money, and all of these Vigors can be used to lay traps, but the cost associated doesn’t make it worth it.

Placed throughout each level are “sky-lines”, essentially suspended rails you and your enemies can attach yourselves to, allowing rapid movement around an arena. They’re a handy escape from tough fights but trying to shoot someone while riding them is quite the challenge and shooting an enemy riding them feels impossible. You also have your companion Elizabeth, who can summon extra weapons or turrets to support you, as well as occasionally throw you money, health kits and salt bottles.

The difficulty of the game feels very strange. Easy and Normal are indistinguishable, both being too easy. Hard feels like what Normal should be, and 1999 mode is the real challenge. When you die in Infinite you instantly respawn but with less money. However, in 1999 mode, if you run out of money, death means restarting a level, which feels like a light punishment compared to other games in the same genre.

Finally enemy variation is pretty weak. You have enemies with guns, enemies with guns and fire, enemies with guns and crows, and Big Daddy rip-offs in the form of “Handymen”, who are big Frankenstein monsters that unlike their aquatic counterparts, do not feel like fair challenges but instead irritating roadblocks. As opposed to a wide variety of attacks, Infinite's enemies raise the challenge by just overwhelming you with an abundance of enemies. Taking on an army does not feel fun.

Exploration is still somewhat encouraged. Audio logs return in the form of “Voxophones”, as well as telescopes and kinetoscopes to help watch important events in Columbia. You can also find “Infusions” which allow you to permanently upgrade your health, salts, or shield. Given that the shield breaks so easily, I expect most players will usually go for the other two options, but it’s nice to have some reward for curious explorers.

????The Story & Presentation????

You play as Booker DeWitt, half detective, half mercenary, in the year 1912. You’re sent to a steampunk city that flies called “Columbia”, in order to find a girl called Elizabeth. However, you quickly become public enemy #1 due to an evil marking on your hand, and the situation only worsens when it turns out Elizabeth is the founder of the city’s daughter. The story is competently told with good voice acting and stellar presentation, but the plot itself makes no sense at all and becomes a mess by the end.

Columbia is so nationalistic that racism of black and Irish immigrants is normal, and yet the story doesn’t have anything to say about racism or nationalism. The racism depicted is also too tame, making Columbia seem more attractive than was intended. This unjust treatment is ultimately the cities downfall as the oppressed rise up, but the riots and merciless killings that come with the civil war doesn’t look too different to the trail of destruction the player has left in their wake, and thus makes the event way less dramatic and impactful than it should be.

The story also introduces infinite timelines, but this only creates loopholes. If a story states you can keep hopping from reality to reality at your leisure, it isn’t unreasonable to ask why we don’t just find a reality with all our problems solved. Major twists and events are also tied to this infinite timeline theory, but the rules don’t make sense. The plot demands infinite timelines to be created, but also wants some decisions to be permanent across all realties. It doesn’t take a genius to tell you that makes no sense whatsoever.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2678553761
Characterisation is poor. Booker is far too edgy and doesn’t behave like a normal human being. Elizabeth has lived in isolation her whole life but is essentially a Disney princess, with better social skills then Booker. Unlike previous games, Infinite doesn’t explain or show how the gameplay effects the world. Plasmids were what ruined Rapture, and Vigors are even more powerful and more commonplace in Columbia, and yet no one uses them?

????Graphics & Soundtrack????

The best thing about this game is how it looks. Columbia is stunning and immersive, people look normal in a Bioshock game for once, and the weapons are gorgeous. The soundtrack is a little less memorable than the previous games, more serving to amp up the action than to set the mood.

????Performance & Bugs????

Game runs absolutely fine with no FPS drops or crashes. I hardly had any bugs and none of them impacted my gameplay.

✔️Final Score & Comments????

I’d give Bioshock Infinite a 4/10. If seen as just another shooter game then it would be serviceable, but as a Bioshock game it fails. The story is too convoluted and poorly written, the more you think about it, the less it makes sense. The gunplay is poorly designed, boring at low difficulties, unfair at high. Good graphics and pretty women can’t distract from the many glaring issues this game has.

A fantastic game that still manages to be stunted by a rushed development cycle. Gripping art, good humor, interesting concepts, punchy fighting mechanics, and an overall plot that will keep you awake if not enthralled. Just makes you wonder what would have happened had it been given an extra 6 months to a year in the oven.

this is a very mediocre game. it ditches all of what made bioshock unique and instead follows the basic fps tropes. the gameplay is horrendously repetitive and boring. the story is decent, but the ending is absolute garbage and elizabeth, while likable, is a poorly written character. also, burial at sea part i and ii are both very mediocre as well. id recommend getting infinite with the bioshock bundle when the bundle is at a discount, only $12 for all three games with the remasters and dlc.

bioshock infinite = 5/10
burial at sea part i = 4/10
burial at sea part ii = 4.5/10

Really good game. Surpasses the previous 2 BioShock games in all ways.

Graphics are really good compared to the 2 past games.
Sounds are good.
Music is good and quite appropriate for the era the game is set in.

Story is really good. Ending was not entirely surprising to me, as a few key moments in the story hinted at what was to come.

Gameplay is great and allows for numerous tactics and styles to fit in with how someone would play.

For anyone playing on a modern system, make sure you cap your frames per second to 60 or even 59, set vsync on and compatibility mode for Windows 7. This game glitches out badly with the UI in the game if frames exceed 60. You can't pick up objects, search containers or even quit the game once the bug hits and need to alt-tab out the game and restart the PC. It sometimes happens even with the above mentioned preventative measures, but much more rarely, but that is a minor nuisance to play this great game!

A game almost any FPS enthusiast would enjoy!

This game is an absolute masterpiece, certainly my favourite game of all time. The story is just what you expect from a Bioshock series, brilliant, unique, with a mind-blowing ending. Columbia is a beautiful setting, bright, colourful, a far cry from Bioshock 1 & 2 Rapture, but behind all of that, it is a city filled with ugliness, gory and dark secrets. The characters are great and the voice acting is the best that you can ask for.

The most standout feature of this game is definitely Elizabeth. She is such a sweet and charming girl. To say that she is the best AI partner in video games is definitely an understatement. Elizabeth resembles an actual girl that can convey emotions throughout the game, react differently according to the situations, assist you in combat, and every interaction with her is meaningful.

There is no other games that hooked me up emotionally like this game did. It is one of the game that is so good you can’t stop thinking about it.

Story was incredible, but gameplay was a little too repetative.
Graphics, for the time it was released, are beautiful!
8.5/10
- Only because of gameplay. At some points you need to go to one place, shoot a lot of enemies, then go to the another place, shoot alot of enemies and so on.
But when you finish all of that, storyline starts going and it's freaking awesome!

BioShock Infinite

Welcome to Columbia!

BioShock 1 & 2 were a huge hit, so they had to release a part 3! Bioshock is very unique just because of the ability to wield different magical powers (known as Vigors) as well as firearms. You can literally change what Vigor you have equipped while on the run! This is a very unique and well-implemented concept that actually kept me indulged in the game. I really hope they release a part four!

Too….much….INFORMATION!

Storyline

Please do not attack me since I haven’t played BioShock 1 & 2. Well, mostly because their graphics were a bit too outdated for my taste!
I swear I will play & finish both of them one day! ☹
. So, the story was a bit too sudden & confusing for me. It felt like I was immediately thrown into war after waking up from a good night's sleep. Hence, do not do the same mistake as I did & please play the previous parts before playing BioShock Infinite. Here’s a short introduction to the story (of course, it is certainly
spoiler-free
):

You play as Booker DeWitt who is tasked with retrieving a certain “Girl” (who goes by the name “Elizabeth) from the alternate reality floating city of Colombia. It all seems like a walk-in-the-park until a security guard identifies him as a “False Shepherd” from the letters “AD” which were branded on his hand & now each & every cop & mechanical security bots are after his ass. Will he rescue the maiden and escape with his life or will he fail & fall into the hands of the antagonist?

In my opinion, the story was beautifully woven & it isn’t a very forgettable plot. Each & every character leaves an emotional impact on the player. I really love games where the storylines are unforgettable!

Vigors

Vigors are the main charm of the game. You may ask, what in the world are Vigors? So, Vigors are basically bottled superpowers. You can find Vigor bottles literally lying around (I mean, bruh, those are superpowers that have the ability to kill people, why the hell would you leave them lying around just like that?) or you can buy them from vending machines & upon drinking them, you get the respective power. These powers can be used in battles and also for support like burning something, giving an electric jolt to a piece of machinery, etc.

Although these may sound a bit too overpowered, they obviously have limitations. They require “fuel” to be used. In this case, the fuel required to use Vigors is nothing but Salt. Again, you can find salt at random places or buy it from vending machines. You can upgrade each Vigor twice using the Silver Eagle coins you collect.

The game has a total of 8 Vigors as follows:

Vigor Description
Bucking Bronco Ground/Earth related Vigor.
Murder of Crows You can control crows and use them to attack enemies.
Shock Jockey Electricity.
Devil's Kiss Manipulate & Generate Fire.
Possession Possess machinery allowing you to turn foes into allies.
Charge Allows you to literally Ram into enemies at high speed & dealing a lot of damage.
Return to Sender As the name suggests, cast a shield that absorbs incoming gunfire & fires it back.
Undertow Allows you to either push away or pull in entities.

Weapons & Gunplay

One of the first weapons you get is a Skyhook, which is actually a transportation tool that allows you to zoom through the Zip-lines. You can also use it to brutally kill enemies. This weapon is passively equipped and is the only melee weapon you can wield.

There are a total of 13 firearms you can use. Each of them is unique & has completely different properties. But the one thing they have in common is that the bullets literally have no bullet drop. Well, you can’t obviously snipe with the pistol as the bullets disappear after travelling a particular distance, but it means the weapons are a bit too accurate in close & mid-ranged combat. Each weapon has its own ammo type & the weapon itself can be upgraded up to 4 times using Silver Eagles.

Pros

 • Very interesting storyline of a decent length.
 • A unique concept of using Vigors & Tears.
 • Combat is very fun & intense.
 • Pleasant visuals & audio.
 • Characters that leave an emotional impact.
 • A very beautiful & mind-blowing ending that’s hard to forget.
 • A lot of content in the game.
 • Other Game modes are included in the form of DLCs, hence adding to the hours you can extract from this game.

Cons

 • The game lacks in save points.
 • The story kinda goes haphazardly towards the end which might confuse you. It actually diverts from the initial main plot & kinda becomes a huge mess.
 • No re-playability value in the main game unless you want to collect all the collectibles or try it in another difficulty mode.

Final Verdict

I regret not playing the previous parts. I thought this game was very overrated at first, but playing it made me understand why it gained such a reputation. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I invested in the game although it became a bit of a mess in the end, plot-wise. It’s best to grab this game through the Bioshock Collection bundle as you get all three games & DLCs at a very good price. But please do not buy the game & DLCs separately. Have some pity on your wallet!

Really fun bioshock game. If you have played the previous bioshock games, you would like this one. All the bioshock games are a masterpiece and its story is already top-tier. The graphics and audio are also on another level. This game really holds its own as one of the strongest story games ever. This game also ties in to the bioshock timeline and it was just really fun to experience and enjoy. I really recommend this game if you are looking for an eye opening experience. On a side note, this game is pretty hard to grind all the achievements.

It nicely closes and ties together the story. I loved the ending.

It's different than the previous 2 instalments. You're no longer in a closed dark space, the world is brighter and more open. You don't carry around medkits anymore, there's no manual saving (auto save mechanics), you can only carry 2 weapons at the same time (you can easily find a new one pretty much anywhere). Most of all it did not crash at all for me, unlike bioshock 1 and 2.

Very different from the previous two Bioshock games and yet, it's really all the same.

To be real though, this was a lot of fun to play through. It easily has the best gunplay of the series, with most weapons feeling very unique and powerful. One aspect I think they stepped backwards in was the limited gun selection, as now you can only hold two at a time. The plasmid choice isn't anything revolutionary and is mostly reskins from the original but I enjoyed playing around with the octopus one. The way upgrading works is less enjoyable, as instead of being given the opportunity to max out all your guns through exploration you will have to focus your efforts on a select few.

The enemies in the game are generally more interesting, I liked the soldier's uniforms and the replacement for the Big Daddy was not at all disappointing visually, although from a gameplay perspective it wasn't quite as fun to fight. The songbird was a very interesting enemy that I felt didn't steal the spotlight for longer than it should've, and was removed from the narrative in a satisfying way.

I think Bioshock Infinite had a much heavier focus on science fiction than the previous two, which may sound odd knowing that the first one was underwater, but much of the story and setting of the game relies on complex scientific concepts. While I'm not sure the story is better than that of Bioshock the original's, they did a great job of making the storyline feel like there was real weight attached. Near the beginning of the game, some of the decisions presented actually made me want to go back and see what the difference would've been, which is some high praise at least from me personally.

I enjoyed the company of the twins and Elizabeth throughout the entire game without fail, and the shockingly racist and stunning colonial culture and world design of Infinite kept me engaged throughout the entire playthrough. In my eyes, it's equal to or better than the first, and obviously better than Bioshock 2.

Who Needs Russian Hackers when you Got the Privacy Policy of 2K games? They collect your information in other countries. Is this really necessary? Why do you punish loyal customers who buy the game legally? (Please see below)
This is a great game one of the best FPS of all time and it is now cheap.
Amazing graphics. The graphics on Ultra are so good that they beat fall out 4 which came out a few years later
The story at the end blows your mind. There is something called parallel Universe where everything exists and this will blow your mind
All the DLCs are amazing overall and Elizabeth is probably the best helpful companion who gets supplies and things for you.

Bioshock Infinite builds on a strong story, fun action and the unique dynamics of both main characters - Brooker and Elizabeth.
I don't want to write spoilers, so I'll try to put it this way.. Booker wants to pay off a mysterious debt and the whole adventure of the game is based on that (not counting the DLC now). The main character's task is to free Elizabeth from the flying city of Columbia and transport her to New York. The title usually takes place in 1912 and mixes fictional technique with magic.

Infinite offers a spectacular trip to a world torn by racism, fanatical faith and traditional power struggles. The story usually takes place in front of the player's eyes, in calmer passages it is developed by various characters and some shards can also be heard from magnetic tapes, which lie on the levels.
The levels are extensive and certainly do not give the impression of a tunnel, the environment often offers an amazing spectacle, but thanks to the possibility to invoke a navigation arrow, the player hardly gets lost in the game.
It is necessary to browse certain passages there and back and it can be annoying to spread through the location for the third time. Fights, however, revive melee attacks and magical skills.
In addition, the artificial intelligence of the enemies fluctuates significantly. At times, opponents are as dull as a razor last year.

As a result, Infinite is an excellently tuned and above-standard quality game that should not be missed by any fan of shooting games. 80%

Undoubtedly a truly great game.

A few highlights:
1) The worldbuilding/voice acting together is superb. The voxophone recordings you can listen to are amazing, if you're into that sort of thing.
2) This is probably one of the few video games with both weapons and magic (in this case vigors) where one doesn't feel stronger than the other. They complement each other well.
3) The graphics are beautiful, and the game has a very special aesthetic to it that has helped it age especially well.

Overall, my only complaint is that personally, I found the end... unsatisfyingly confusing. I just feel sad about how it ends, and you probably will too.

I loved the first Bioshock, liked the second one, could not stand Infinite. Gameplay was never Bioshock’s selling point, but this one really boils it down to moving from one area to the next and killing lackluster enemies with low AI. Gameplay is repetitive, weapons are uninteresting. Vigors feel out of place and you don’t really need to bother with them given the game’s ridiculously easy difficulty. There is almost zero punishment for death. And the looting… Instead of enjoying the beautiful graphics, the game expects you to walk to every corner in every area in order to loot cash from garbage bins and drawers. I did not have patience to finish the game, so maybe it was the story that made many critics regard this as GOTY for 2013. I cannot comment on the story, but in terms of gameplay, BioShock Inifinite is a tedious game.

Guess what? Probably one of the best action-adventure 1st person shooter ever. The combat system is superb, even great action 1st person game like Dishonored is not as superb as Bioshock: Infinite.

This game allows you to combat against enemy with fire-arms and magic simultaneously and it is full of action orientated moments.
Story is great, not to mention the level designed is based on 1910s in America.

If you are a 1st person gamer, you should play this game.

I was 16 when I played infinite for the first time, I didn't understand one bit of it back then. I remember binging through youtube videos to understand what this game means.

Move forward 6 years, I'm 22 now and decided to play it again and it stood firm through the test of time. The gameplay is very responsive and maybe not very tough on the normal difficulty but Elizabeth is the heart and soul of the gameplay. You truly end up caring about both Booker and Elizabeth. The game is mindgasmic and leaves u questioning by the end of it. But it's worth playing every bit of it!

Coming to the DLC's, there were three DLC's. One is endless horde mode and other challenge modes to climb on the leaderboards where the main focus is map design and gameplay!

The other two DLC's are story-based gameplay that loops around the first Bioshock game as events take place before the game! The story choices are debatable, some may like it and some may not! I didn't like it, due to many loopholes. I like the new stealthy gameplay choices in 2nd episode playing as Elizabeth without powers, while the 1st episode plays similar to the base game but with limited ammo, so that's a plus too.

Overall, I'll like to conclude that this game is a must-play for its strong mindgasmic story and enjoyable gameplay!

It's a very well written and absorbing game. Downright mesmerising at some moments. Gameplay-wise, Infinite seems noticeably more dynamic compared to its predecessors, in exchange however for a more linear progression and combat system trivialisation.

I wanted to write a small joke review for Infinite, but… There’s something to be said here.

When I played it back in 2013, I finished it in two days and for the next week was walking around with my jaw dangling around my ankles. Oh, what a visual style! Oh, how they twisted the plot! Oh, what an impactful story!

That is all true, but now after all these years and having replayed the game 3 times, I understand something very important for the understanding of Infinite and Bioshock in general. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. In both senses. On the one hand, it masterfully takes you from super-highs to super-lows and back, but on the other it pretty much sells you pre-made, pre-packed, pre-cooked emotions and squeezes them out of you with simplistic narrative contrasts, awe explosions and shock injections. And that’s impressive but… Cheap.

There’s no subtlety, no nuance. The only nuanced thing in this game is probably the never-mentioned incestuous subtext, and even that might be something that wasn’t actualized simply because it was considered too obscene to shove in the player’s face.

Let me illustrate my point. The very first hour. Walking across the marvelous city. Celebration. Colorful fair. Bliss. Foreboding, but at the moment – glorious. People relax, eat, drink, chat, enjoy themselves. Then – the raffle, the culmination of the celebration, the singing, the merrymaking. And then – after a small ominous interlude – an atomic explosion of violence: right in the middle of the staring whooping crowd you peel the off a man’s face with an industrial appliance. In the next two minutes you will kill two dozen arguably innocent people. I think it’s the most terrifyingly beautiful scene of contrastive violence I have ever seen not just in a game, but in any medium. This first hour and this scene carry the rest of the game on their shoulders. They set the tone in bronze, and this contrast will be repeated time after time. Without this massive Alpha impression it would play as a compelling TV-series rather than a compelling interactive experience.

Infinite will always remain a landmark of my aesthetic scenery, but I also feel like I’ve been had. It’s beautiful, but it’s also a simple blockbuster. It made me feel for the characters in fantastical circumstances that are hard to relate to without cheap emotion-squeezing.

And it also intruded upon the old BioShock in the DLCs. And that fact completely exposes it as an entertainment-first franchise.

Such a complicated story, you'll have to watch YouTube videos to understand it all, but such a gem of a series to play!!!

First thing I have to say about Infinite is that it gave me motion sickness as soon as I started playing it. Pretty bad, to the extent that I almost puked the first time. Bioshock 1 and 2 didn't do this. I went to the files to fix the following:

C:Usersyourname*OneDriveDocumentsMy GamesBioShock InfiniteXGameConfig

go in there and find the following:
Code DefaultbReduceMotionSickness=1

Code bReduceMotionSickness=True
(I have to say that this setting kept changing automatically to False so I was never really able to change this)
Code MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent=90.000000

with all this done, I think the only TRUE thing that helped was the last line of code that changed the FOV to 90 and I was able to adjust the FOV slider in the options menu a lot better. Now, the BEST thing that helped the motion sickness was to stop running in the game. When you run it has a head bobbin movement that is truly horrible and there is no way of turning that off, thanks developers, so I just stopped running altogether. I literally walked everywhere in this game like a nerd. Elizabeth wanted me to hurry up,... nope, you're going to have to wait for my slow ass to get there.

Now let's get into the actual game.

I am a fan of the first two games. I absolutely love them. This was the perfect continuation to the series. It's a story rich game that it's so fast paced that you know you're missing things as you play along. important plots are being missed cause of the euphoria you feel at the moment because you just got jumped by like 10 guys and are out of ammo and have to get that while at the same time listening to the story. I'm used to that from playing the first two games so I was expecting it. Regardless of the quick pace, the game is marvelous. I absolutely loved this game. It can also be played as a “stand alone” FPS if you haven't played the first two, just don't play the DLC's Burial at Sea until you play 1 and 2.

As a continuation of the story, it really doesn't tie well UNTIL you play the DLC's Burial at Sea. My god, what a story that is. I have no idea why those are DLC's, they should've been a mandatory continuation after playing Infinite. Those DLC's hold the key to tying the stories from Bioshock 1 and Infinite and they made that in such a superb way that is just a masterpiece. It's an incredibly story rich game with many ways of interpreting it. I truly recommend playing 1,2, Infinite and then the DLC's to fully tie all the loose ends. Watch YouTube videos if you need a better explanation of the events.

Getting the whole franchise during a summer/winter sale just gives you the best deal for a timeless franchise that will give you bang for your buck. Just get it. You might end up like me and having a Big Daddy figure inside your PC case.

I absolutely love Bioshock Infinite! It's such a good game, and the plot has many twists and turns, and I personally think the ending is satisfying for a first-person shooter. The characters are exquisite and all have a part in the game; not only as characters, but as major roles. The protagonist, Booker Dewitt is my favorite character; he's a man that has a gambling addiction and is an alcoholic, and is buried in debt and gets his daughter taken away from him. The story is amazing.
Oh and the ending will break your heart. Be prepared.

So much to say about this game but ill try to make it short. This is my favourite game of all time no matter how many great games released and going to release. I have like 200+ hours on this from 2013 untill now (back when i played it no-steam and including the DLC's) that playing on Hard Mode without a single death i consider it Easy Mode, knowing every corner, combat tacs, weapon/vigor proper usages, and so on.
Also understanding the whole plot after researches and explanations what got me to actually love the game and the main character of it. I Absolutely recommend it 10/10.

This one was such a fun game to play! Graphics were pretty, not as great as they could've been, but I didnt really focus on it.
I played the game while streaming so having people interact while I played was sometimes a blessing and sometimes a huge distraction, because dying was mostly imminent for me, as it always is in FPS shooters.

The story was just perfect. Like, for someone who hasnt played the other bioshock games, this game is perfect as a standalone game. Ofc I recommend everyone to play the other Bioshock games, which I will at some point, but if you just want a pretty not-so-scary bioshock game for you then this is fun.

BUT FOR REAL, Handymans are heeeecking scary. I dont like em, nuh uh. Thanks for the game Materia-listic and thanks for Tofu of GGPlayers for making the community so I had a chance of playing this game uwu

(Most likely I will play through the game again (already started) to get some more achievements and I would also like to try the 1992 Edition difficulty at some point.)

Bioshock: Infinite took a different approach on world design, and I think it's amazing. Forget derelict claustrophobic broken underwater tunnels, infested with deranged psychopaths - what you'll find here is a game world that is much brighter, sunnier, cozier with large open areas. There's still a million enemies hunting you, but at least not every NPC you meet wants your head, which is refreshing. Plus, you get a companion who loots for various items and throws them at you when you need them the most - ammo, medkits, even cash. No longer are you all on your own, and that immediately makes the atmosphere better and friendlier.

Bioshock: Infinite also brings some other good bits, such as very cool new mechanics, while the old ones have undergone an overhaul which simply makes the game easy to enjoy. The whole shooting flows so much better than it ever did in the previous installments, making this a very smooth and polished FPS. Another thing that pleasantly surprised me was that the player (you) can talk! I hate when they make the player mute, as it usually makes no sense, so I'm glad they voiced him. As for the story, it's deep, messed up and sometimes hard to follow, but it's not bad and in my opinion has some very cool twists. I liked it the most from the whole series.

All in all, when I played Bioshock 1 and 2 I thought they were too much, too all over the place, and I didn't really like them. Infinite, on the other hand, was a very pleasant FPS experience that delivered on all fronts. It's way more modern and easier to grasp, so I recommend to give this a shot.

Bioshock Infinite stuck with me for the wrong reasons. I can’t talk about why without getting into mild spoiler territory. I’m not going to lay out the whole story, but I’ll be talking about a mid-game event of some importance. If that’s not your bag, I suggest dropping out now.

Critically acclaimed and almost universally adored, Infinite’s story, world and themes are lauded as high watermarks of the medium. Having just finished Infinite for the first time, I wonder how that can be right. Well, sprinkle a few mature themes in a game and have a character pontificate on life and stuff and some games journalists will think they’ve finally found the interactive equivalent of Shakespeare.

Maybe that sounds unfair, but it’s something I see a lot. I love games and believe they’re a powerful art form, but far too often they fail basic litmus tests for an effective narrative. It means that when an Infinite is released, with all its pointed symbolism and portentous dialogue, a critical consensus as to its artistic merits quickly builds around it, certain that this is it. The Real Deal.

But sometimes I think that happens because games like this telegraph their purported depth so transparently. Much like its predecessor, Infinite wants you to know what’s on its mind the moment you’re out of the gate. “This shit right here,” it seems to say, “is important.”

There’s a medley of themes: free will, determinism, parallel worlds, quantum physics (yeah, sure), labour rights…but is this pick n’ mix of subjects worth all the praise? Are they being praised for what they express or simply for having the virtue of existing within a video game? Infinite is about the choices we make and the paths those choices take us down. Choices which echo through time and space, of paths taken and paths untaken. All in service of crafting a unified expression for the entire Bioshock series. It’s ambitious, but the game can’t bring them together in service of its lofty aims.

In place of Bioshock’s satire of Objectivism we now have American Exceptionalism, similarly embodied by a spectacular, knowingly absurd setting – instead of a vast underwater city called Rapture we now have a vast floating city called Columbia – and espoused by an ideological zealot whose name is not Andrew Ryan but Zachary Hale Comstock. American Exceptionalism actually lends itself well to creative director Ken Levine’s writing style in that it’s an inherently absurd doctrine, so the satirical lampooning it’s treated to, be that its religious self-righteousness or its social hypocrisies, feels appropriately realised, for the most part. There’s a sequence halfway through where you’re investigating a working district called Finkton that's impressively made. Here labourers bid for work in a cut-throat, every-man-for-himself dystopia. Finkton also has the dubious distinction of being the final part of the game I truly enjoyed.

First, though, let’s run through what the game’s about real quick. It’s a first person shooter in which you play as private dick Booker DeWitt, tasked with escorting a young woman called Elizabeth out of Columbia.

The game's combat is visceral and satisfying, and you’re given a range of weapons – all of which can be upgraded – to perform it. There’s also vigors, which are Infinite's version of the plasmid. Vigors are fun and easy to use, but they feel part of some other world. Unlike the plasmids they aren’t really built into Columbia in any meaningful way, and you’re about the only person who ever uses them. In Bioshock, the plasmid reshaped the makeup of Rapture, from political divisions down to the genetic level. Here, they’re just...well, here.

At roughly the halfway mark Infinite tries to have its cake and eat it. So, that Comstock guy I mentioned? He’s a raging white supremacist, and his beloved city is a sham. It’s despotic, cruel, and charged with racial prejudice. Consequently there’s a resistance movement brewing behind the stars and stripes called the Vox Populi. Their leader is an African American woman called Daisy Fitzroy. And Daisy? Daisy is the only black person in the game with a perspective. So what comes next matters.

Soon enough the fire of revolution spreads and civil war comes to Columbia. The Vox Populi’s uprising is violent and bloody, and as soon as it starts both Booker and Elizabeth waste no time remarking that, when it comes down to it, there’s no difference between Comstock and Fitzroy. Except of course there is. One is a racist white demagogue; the other the sole black voice of the oppressed classes.

The assertion that violence is always bad and that any faction exercising it is equally bad is so thoughtlessly conveyed that the game’s thematic pretensions break apart. Drawing a moral equivalence between oppressor and oppressed in a setting this surreal is laughable. It thinks that by blurring the lines between good and evil it's reaching for some greater truth, but it's not. That it uses racism as a pretext to do so is offensive.

By Levine’s own admission, Infinite would like us to treat its politics as historical set dressing. Columbia’s racism is a reflection of time and place but not a comment on it. How this can be so given the game’s treatment of American Exceptionalism, which it clearly understands to be an inward looking, conceited folly, is a mystery to me.

Perhaps you’re now rushing to the comments to denounce me as a hand-wringing liberal, proof that games have become too “political” (they always were: what some don’t like is what the recent political shift signifies), but hold up. Levine’s an east coast liberal with the political world view that geography suggests. His politics are front and centre in his games regardless of intent. He evidently despises the libertarian doctrine. It’s what makes this particular failure so galling, and a clear sign of privilege at work.

Further, any claim to historical authenticity collapses when the game’s events take place in a fictional floating city spread across parallel worlds. The intellectual dishonesty – and abject cowardice – of this position weighed heavily on my experience from the moment it was introduced. It broke the game for me, in part because it makes you turn your gun on those denied any other means of expression but violence.

It reminds me of an experience I had when I was just starting out as a comic book writer. I’d written a line of dialogue in which a male character described a female character’s action in sexist terms. It was meant to convey who this character was: a misogynist. But when it came time to do the lettering, the letterist, a woman, reacted negatively. She said to me, “I know it’s part of who he is, but it’s an everyday experience for me. It’s just tiring.” I’ve thought about that a lot over the years. All I’d done in writing that line was mimic a real world prejudice without saying anything about it. It was a failure of empathy and a decision made from a position of privilege.

Must science fiction and fantasy always imbibe the ugliness of our present reality? If they must, what are they trying to accomplish with it? What does Infinite want to say about racism and classism? Sadly, nothing at all. It knows they’re bad, but that’s as far as it goes. It doesn’t want to connect any of the dots insofar as where they come from, how they co-exist, and what we must do to eradicate them. It doesn’t want to have anything more to say beyond “they’re bad”. If anything, Infinite's the sort of game that would smugly reply to that with, “what more does one have to say other than it’s bad?”

The DLC tries to retcon Daisy’s arc, but it only manages to make the problem worse, suggesting that ultimately, black perspectives aren’t worthy of a place in the main game. I wanted to love Infinite, but no amount of quantum levitation could keep it afloat.

Initially conceived as a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power, Columbia is sent to distant shores with great fanfare by a captivated public. What begins as a fresh new endeavor of hope turns drastically wrong as the city soon disappears into the clouds to whereabouts unknown. The player takes on the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young lady imprisoned there since her childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, enhancing his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt has to learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of a myriad of new weapons and abilities.

Beware this publisher! 2K recently removed all of their games from GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. By doing that basically they claim they have the right to decide where you can play game that you OWN. They created dangerous precedence - today they tell you that you cannot play YOUR game on remote machine. Maybe tomorrow they will order that you cannot play your legal copy of the game on your own machine after hardware upgrade or on your own second computer. Control obsessed freaks. Avoid at all cost.

I kept this game in my wishlist for a very long time. After a friend gifted it to me, I had a chance to play it. I was told and knew it's a good game but hell it's an amazing game with everything. The way the story is driven, dialogues were way beyond what I expected. The combat system is various, more than a dozen weapons to choose from and to style your gameplay and as much as 8 vigors, skills, to combine them. Sadly I collected only just above half of the collectibles which are audio records that are designed very well. They're making you see the whole picture as you listened to them, and have opinions on how people felt in that universe. While speaking of Elizabeth, our companion throughout the most of the game, she's one of the best companions I've ever seen in a video game. She's useful and her lines are not just random stuff and repetitive like many others in games. In the game, your whole objective is to rescue her but the journey to it is amazingly well-conceived. She even tosses coins to your witcher. Sorry I meant to you, wrong game. It took me 10 hours to beat the main story on medium difficulty, looking forward to playing the DLCs as soon as possible.

Man's always been half a fool, half a hero. Never could tell which side was more dangerous.

This is an absolutely fantastic game. As FPS, the gameplay is very solid and has many weapons/ways to attack (maybe could has more variety of enemies). The story is great, the kind of storytelling you will remember, with good pace, engaging and with highly charimastic characters.

On top of that, the remarkable music and sound effects, and the wonderful graphics, create a perfect atmosphere. In general, it has an outstanding artistic section.

In my opinion, is a good choice even for those who are not big fans of shooters, due to the quality of its story and its artwork.

Very recommended.
