Fantastic passenger simulation. Transport fleet is easy to manage. Enough analysis tools to improve your network. Multiplayer (LAN) mode works flawlessly.

Cities in Motion 2
Aber;

Cities in Motion 2
CM2 is from 2013 and another title of the Cities series.
A mass transit simulation game: Build, manage and manage your traffic network. Keep in mind that as time progresses, the ever-changing requirements have to be met to be successful. You should keep in mind that your range of transport, directly on the growth of the city and the type of residents or the establishment of companies impact.
At the time the graphics were ok, but you should not expect that this is still the case. The demands on the 3D graphics has increased very much, but it is still good enough.
There is a whole lot of different means of transport and vehicles available which also do what they should do in the game. Therefore, a good route planning is necessary, but even more important is the linking of the lines with each other.
There are several cities to choose from from different countries.
So far so good, I can recommend it because it is well done and not boring quickly.
But;
It is far too expensive in my opinion, since you not only have to buy the game but also a variety of extensions to use it fully ....
But you get, not only, an extensive Singelplayer game but also the possibility of multiplayer and even a CoOp mode.
Thus, I can only say, if you have enough money and such kind of games like buying CM2, you are doing nothing wrong .... with greetings

Teils bleiben sollen! Leider ein richtiges, liebloses FAIL-Spiel!

Gosh this game is bad. I stopped playing after realizing that, in order to add bus lanes to a 6 lane bridge, I was going to have to completely demolish the bridge and rebuild with a new road type. Modifying an existing road to include bus lanes, in a transportation game, shouldn't even be considered a feature.

Not quite what I thought it was, but that's on me for not doing more research. If you enjoy working out transit systems for cities, then this is for you. I should state that this game is NOT like Cities Skylines. The cities are prebuilt, and your job is to set up busses, underground metros, taxi services and train lines for the city.

Disappointing. Seems great in theory, but it's oddly difficult to make lines profitable at all, let alone profitable enough to make a meaningful amount of money. I've spent hours trying different strategies and made very little progress. It's too frustrating for it to be worth spending any more time on.

The graphics are so bad I couldn't even make it through the tutorial - clicking on the Bus Depot to add it to the route kept going around in circles. Never a good start, and also the navigation was just painful.

Unsure why there's a lot of love for this game - it's highly muddled and a lesson in how not to do UX.
Sure it's old - maybe that's the excuse...

Recommended, but not the best. Sadly it is abandoned. And they are not going to ever make a sequel because Cities Skylines got so big and popular this game was left in the dirt.
These type of games are bascially dead genre already.

The UI makes this game impossible to play. Building a lot of the tracks is annoyingly difficult, with no way to highlight the tracks you have already built. A lot of the basic stats and graphs (e.g. to see which lines are profitable/unprofitable, which lines have long wait times) that you would expect from a game that supposedly gives you a lot of fine control are missing.

Im addicted to this game, as you can tell, so my opinion might be swayed. People keep comparing it to C:S, and that is unfair. 1. They are different genres, CIM2 is a transport tycoon thingy, but C:S is a city builder. 2. More importantly, CIM2 is quite older than C:S. As time goes on, games evolve, and if CIM2 was released after C:S, it would be on the same level. I hate reading through reviews, and seeing half of them not recommended, just because C:S has a better feel. It is stupid. You can't compare the original Super Mario Bros to Mario Oddesy, or even Mario 64, games evolve, and such has C:s to CIM2. Yes, this game is buggy and a not as good as it could have been, but stop comparing it to C:S.

The 'odd' thing is that the later build Cities Skylines has a much better toolset to analyse traffic density and flow. It could be me, but after 11 hours playing I am still just struggling to determine what lines to build to get a good flow. In the end, I felt there were no highlights to be enjoyed, even though the premise does interest me.

This is a truly amazing game, one of my all-time favourites and I really hope I will never again have an 800+ hour game on Steam (getting a little old to start a competition). My favourite part of city builders has always been rebuilding existing infrastructure to make my people flow more efficiently from point A to point B, not slapping down cookie-cutter city blocks or fine-tuning the overlap of fire stations or making sure I have enough sewage treatment plants.

CiM2 takes that fun of rebuilding and optimization and runs with it. You start with a map-sized city with no public transit, and it's your job to build a functioning system in that context. It trades breadth for depth of simulation, so you manage scheduling and fares and transit zones, while the city just happens around you. Build a road into an open space or demolish a row of buildings for a new bus lane and the city just grows around it, no rezoning needed.

Plus there's something meditative about watching your creations wend their way through your city. I would estimate that a solid 100 hours of gameplay have been spent doing just that. Which brings me to my one complaint with the gameplay: oddly enough, that it doesn't have enough graphs. The only way to tell if a schedule at a particular time of day is too high or low is to watch the vehicles and stops at that time. (Scheduling is considerably improved by changing the game speed to 15% and population to 800%, but that's configurable in-game.)

Wait, did my hand slip and rate this negative? No, because Paradox has completely abandoned this gem in favour of milking the Cities Skylines cow for every possible DLC. Steam Workshop support has been broken for years, and who knows what will break next? There are workarounds for the Workshop issue, but as long as this game is abandonware, I can't in good conscience recommend it to anyone.

CiM2 was a relatively impressive game... in 2013, when it was released. It's 2020 now, and it's not worth it - if the lack of variety in buildings doesn't make you dislike it, it's extremely convoluted and lacks a tutorial feature, lacks a lot of the finesse of CiM1, forgoes any modding support beyond basic maps and rulesets... it's also much less consistent than it's direct predecessor - citizens teleport to your subway stations, maps have no connections to the outside world simulated, and the graphics are oversaturated and cheery to the point where it's pretty unbearable. :

If you're thinking of buying this, consider Cities: Skylines - a game with very similar mechanics and a very similar engine, or CiM1 - which very much still holds up in terms of graphics and mechanics.

There's a lot to enjoy in this game, if you enjoy really digging into the detail of transport routes, but there are two deal breakers for me:
1) It's difficult or impossible to edit many things (routes, stops, roads, etc). You have to delete and remake
2) The game is REALLY slow. It takes hours at triple speed to build up the funds to open a short metro line, and even a new bus route takes significant saving up for, or taking out a loan which takes tens of real life hours to repay.
For those reasons, I would recommend looking for an alternative, such as CO's later game Cities: Skylines
