Düster, beklemmend, faszinierend: Das neue Werk spielt sich wie der geistige Nachfolger von Limbo - ein Albtraum mit Sogwirkung.

Story:
Das Setting von Inside ist dagegen neu. Waren wir in Limbo noch in der Hölle unterwegs, entführt uns Inside in eine verstörende, trostlose Dystopie. Der kleine Junge, den wir hier spielen, ist zu Beginn auf der Flucht: Er schleicht durch einen finsteren Wald, versteckt sich vor Männern, die ihn mit Taschenlampen und Spürhunden suchen. Im Dunkel der Nacht erspähen wir Lastwagen, die Menschen wie Vieh abtransportieren - erst später erkennen wir, dass diese Leute keinen freien Willen mehr haben. In Reih und Glied marschieren sie ihrem Schicksal entgegen, nehmen an abstoßenden Auswahlverfahren teil, begafft von gesichtslosen Männern, Frauen und Kindern, bis sie schließlich in einer Art Fabrik landen. Was dort passiert soll nicht verraten werden: Inside wirft unbequeme Fragen auf, liefert aber nur wenige Antworten - es bleibt dem Spieler überlassen, was er mit den verstörenden Bildern anzufangen vermag.

Rätsel:
Wichtiger als hüpfen und klettern sind aber ohnehin die vielen Puzzles, die wir im Spielverlauf lösen. Anfangs verschieben wir nur ein paar Kisten, doch schon bald wird die Sache komplizierter: Da müssen wir den Jungen etwa geschickt in Schatten verbergen, während Suchscheinwerfer bedrohlich über die Szenerie wandern. Oder wir bugsieren eine Lore über eine bewegliche Schiene, befördern sie dank der ordentlichen Physik-Engine im richtigen Moment in die Lüfte.
Für einige der kreativsten Puzzles muss der Junge einen speziellen Helm tragen, durch den er Menschen in der Nähe zu seinen willenlosen Dienern macht - sie folgen ihm dann auf Schritt und Tritt und ahmen seine Bewegungen nach, so kann der Junge beispielsweise schwere Objekte verschieben oder Türen aufhebeln lassen. All diese Ideen kommen nie zu lange zum Einsatz, die meisten Spielinhalte von Inside sind wohl dosiert.

Steuerung:
Das Xbox-360-Pad wurde einwandfrei erkannt, alternativ können wir aber auch bedenkenlos mit Tastatur spielen - die Maus findet in Inside keine Verwendung. Dafür können wir die Tastenbelegung (sechs Tasten werden benötigt) problemlos ändern.

Grafik:
Anstatt kräftiger Schwarz-Weiß-Kontraste setzt Inside auf das Zwischenspiel aus Grautönen, das zusammen mit behutsam durchschimmernden Farben, kunstvollen Licht- und Schatteneffekten und Unschärfefiltern für einen unverwechselbaren Look sorgt. Die 3D-Optik, angetrieben von der Unity Engine, ermöglicht den Entwicklern spannende Schwenks, räumliche Kulissen und interessante Perspektivwechsel.
In Sachen Grafikeinstellungen gibt's lediglich die Möglichkeit, die Helligkeit und den Vollbildmodus ein- und auszuschalten, außerdem lassen sich verschiedene Auflösungen wählen.

Synchronisierung/Sound:
Auch Inside verzichtet auf eine Musikuntermalung. Nur eine bedrohliche Klangkulisse, die aber perfekt zum Spielgeschehen passt.

Fazit:
Nachdem ich mehrere Male durchgespielt habe, hatte ich Zweifel, ob mich Playdead mit dem Quasi-Nachfolger nochmal so begeistern kann. Doch Inside hat meine Erwartungen voll erfüllt und teilweise sogar übertroffen: Zwar ist der Reiz des Neuen verflogen (spielerisch sind sich die Titel eben sehr ähnlich), doch dafür entschädigen die spannende Inszenierung, die beklemmende Kulisse und die zum Schneiden dichte Atmosphäre. Ich habe Inside direkt in einem Rutsch durchgespielt, denn ich war einfach zu neugierig, was hinter der nächsten Ecke auf mich wartet. Mit seinen grauen Bildern und seiner beunruhigenden Stimmung schert sich Inside schlichtweg nicht um Massentauglichkeit. Das gilt auch für den kontroversen Schlussakt: Das Ende hat mich zwar erstaunt und (vor allem aus technischer Sicht) mitgerissen, ich wäre aber nicht überrascht, wenn es bei manchen Spielern auf wenig Gegenliebe stößt. Sei's drum - wer schon Limbo mochte, muss bei Inside einfach zugreifen. Es ist ein Erlebnis, das man so schnell nicht mehr vergisst.

Ich habe gelesen, man kann den Weg im Spiel metaphorisch für das Erwachsen werden und den Eintritt in das Berufsleben sehen kann. Ich finde diese Allegorie irgendwo treffend.
Die Rätsel sind clever aber nur selten herausfordernd. Für mich war es tatsächlich mehr die Atmosphäre und das Unbekannte was mich an dem Spiel begestern haben.

sehr gutes spiel mit sehr schöner grafik und einer tollen atmosphäre auch wenn ich 20 Euro etwas viel finde ist es denoch ein must buy.

1: Wenn euch die Trailer auf der Steam Seite gefallen hat, ist das euer Spiel. Macht Spaß und die Aufgaben sind Stimmig.

2: Das Spiel ist nach 2-3 Stunden durch kein Problem aber für 20 Euro ist mir Persönlich zu wenig. Absolute Kauf Empfehlung im Sale.

Tipp auf Wunschliste Setzten und warten bis es reduziert ist.

Tolles Spiel von Anfang bis Ende, ich spiele es fast jedes Jahr einmal durch (bei einer Spielzeit von ca. 3-5h schnell gemacht) um mich jedesmal aufs neue von der tollen Optik, der Story, dem Sound und dem überraschenden Ende faszinieren zu lassen. Hier wurde ein Spiel für die Ewigkeit geschaffen.

After spending 13 hours 'Inside,' I am not quite sure what to think. On the surface, this is a side-scrolling platform game with some complex puzzles and some very interesting mechanics. The artwork is desolate and dark and you are constantly evading death (which comes in multiple forms... dogs, siren/mermaids, people, guns, falling, etc.).

You guide a small boy through a multi-layered maze-like environment that includes outdoors, indoors, rural, urban, underwater, below ground, etc. Along the way you use boxes, carts, and 'mindless' entities to help clear your path.

The game saves regularly so progress is not usually lost when you die or decide to take a break. Achievements are awarded for finding and unplugging 'dome' structures which are generally reached by detouring off the main path. If you miss one, you can easily return to a previous scene without disrupting your primary game. 100% is achieved well before the actual end of the story. Once you have earned 100%, you have the option of completing the main story, looping back for an alternate ending, or just quitting. The last section of the game involves controlling a rolling ball of flesh and a box of fire which becomes quite tricky. After many tries, I have yet to be successful in completing these final moments.

For those who have played LIMBO, INSIDE is physically easier (i.e., less precision/timing required) but more challenging in terms of some pretty complicated puzzle solutions. I am not sure what to say about the story. Towards the end, the boy transitions to breathe underwater and to control the 'mindless' entities without technology. And, then there is the huge ball of flesh with multiple arms and legs (Yikes!). While I suspect that the developers are telling a story with meaning, I admit that it escaped me entirely. There are a couple of interpretations posted on the Steam forum which are interesting to read.

Overall, I recommend this to those with patience and who do not mind platforming and watching a child die in multiple ways. It is an interesting game that is worth your time. If you discover the hidden meaning, please be sure to share it with those of us who are less intuitive!

Jumped into this one right after I finished LIMBO

I might actually enjoy INSIDE a bit more.

Once again, Playdead has nailed a unique aesthetic and atmosphere that no other game has achieved.

I highly recommend both games.

A wordless story that leaves you wordless

INSIDE is one of those gems every one should put on their radar (and this comes from a person who disliked Little Nightmares). I’m not a fan of puzzle-platform games with trial and error gameplay but this one is quite forgiving and easy, making room for lesser frustration. Briefly, INSIDE’s strongest points are its linearity, simple controls and delightfully spooky atmosphere as well as the creativeness of the puzzles.

The gameplay is more focused on puzzle-solving than survival so instead of introducing ”shit your pants” type of scares, you’ll be immersed into a creepy, atmospheric world with artistic graphics and ideas that will chill you to the bone. That is to say, there is still a bit of sneaking and escaping, and you must have an understanding of the perfect timing to make a successful getaway, otherwise you’ll end up like mushed potatoes.

Also, the way the game’s narrative conveys itself without words is mind-blowing. Despite the main character’s silence, I sympathized with him very much – there’s no need for words when you see the world around him. So I recommend INSIDE for basically everyone out there. It’s short and while it gets a bit repetitive towards the end, it’s worth every cent.

A very atmospheric, cinematic production value side scrolling puzzler, with progressively stronger sci-fi theme and very memorable conclusion. Perfect for 3 or 4 hour long casual play sessions. Perfectly crafted, except that I had to whip out my controller rotate a couple of hand wheels - seemed impossible with WASD.

Play it sober, play it smashed, play it at least twice whatever you do. Definitely one of the more remarkable works in gaming, full stop. Apocalyptic yet beautiful. Brilliant 2.5D usage bordering on optical illusions. Top notch minimalist composition in general. Dope ass physics engine. Don't get it wrong, gaming doesn't get much better than a game that knows where itself is at, that puts itself into perspective (pun): and that's this game.

No idea what I just played but it was amazing

Allow me to attempt to quantify my thoughts:
It’s a platformer puzzle game, The puzzles are relatively simple but the game moves fluidly to where you don’t mind moving on quickly as there’s loads of different locations to travel through
You mostly go to the right
The graphics and atmosphere are second to none Just like LIMBO, if you have played that game you'll feel right at home here.
It's a MUST play for any LIMBO fan.

SPOILERS AHEAD

I honestly loved this game; the design, the audio, the puzzles, everything.

Audio:
I love how the game only has background music for major sections; allowing it to use said music to maximum effect.
Sections that clearly have great importance; such as the submarine sections; shock wave machine; huddle escape, etc.

Aesthetics:
The aesthetics are simple but used perfectly; a distinct lack of colour for background objects; objects that are more important having more colour to them, examples being: the protagonist, enemies, objects used for puzzles, etc.

Game Play:
The game play has simple controls; but that's all it needs; if you have issues with it you can re-bind the keys.

Story:
The story is my favourite part about this game; there is no dialogue needed, only environmental sounds or sounds made by the other characters like the boy: dogs, huddle, etc.

The game lets you pick up the clues and decide for yourself; rather than trying to directly tell you why things are going on; the clues are laid out in front of you visually; all you need to do is put them together.

Puzzles:
I initially struggled with the puzzled to a degree; but quickly figured them out by experimenting with different solutions, eventually gaining a grasp of how the games physics worked and figuring out the puzzles more easily.

Despite this; the puzzles are well designed and very satisfying to solve; do note that timing based puzzles are common; so if you have slow reactions consider this a fair warning.

Play time:
I finished the main game, found all secrets and the secret ending in around 4 hours; I wish this game had more replay value.

Price:
Personally; this is my only complaint; around £14.99 ($20.52) feels a bit much for a game I completed in around 4 hours; I would advise you get this game as a bundle with LIMBO while said bundle is on sale.

Things I would change about INSIDE:
Nothing major; probably add just a bit of replay value; maybe a level editor you unlock post secret ending to better justify the price?
I'm not sure really.

Overall:
Would I advise you get this game? certainly yes; but on sale and as part of a bundle.

The art style for INSIDE is very good, while the puzzles are relatively easy. The gameplay is sometimes flat and boring and the idea of having to interpret a bunch of random events together to create your own story does not really appeal to me. It's like playing through an artsy indie movie. Don't play it if you aren't interested in playing a depressing game, but otherwise, it is definitely worth it. The graphics are gorgeous, and it has the same feel as Little Nightmares, as in you are essentially playing through what feels like a weird, adult, animated film. The gameplay is definitely a step up from Limbo, with a lot less annoying trial and error puzzles. They are still there, but in general, I had a better idea of what I could do to solve a puzzle. The only big downside of the game is the length, it's only about 4ish hours long, but it's 4 hand crafted hours with no padding. Easily worth picking up. (Also, the game is extremely well optimized and it maintained 144 fps my entire playthrough without a single frame drop)

Wow From the same people behind LIMBO INSIDE was such a nice surprise and one of the best games I've ever played the art style is nothing like I've ever seen and the amount of effort and detail they put into the art is so beautiful. The Game had some good puzzles and some disturbing imagery but that shows how good the art style can be. The Professionals who made this game chilling and scary know how a game should be made. The Difficulty was perfect as well as the art and the story. Everything about this game is outstanding. INSIDE is truly a masterpiece.
You must play it.

Played INSIDE right after LIMBO and it's far better game for me - you should really try it out.

Graphics and audio are good, puzzles are ok -not to hard, not to easy.

Story is well driven and ending is just nice topping for player who can interpret it in many ways.

Solid 8/10

I'm quite late to the party on this one and for a while i thought my ultimate bad take was that this game sucks ass. I was both amazed and disappointed in this game. From the amount of praise i heard this game receiving over the years, it had really set the bar high for what i was going to be getting, and because of that it fell flat on it's face during the most of the midgame where levels mostly start to look very similar and puzzled become more tedious. With that being said, those are my only complaints about the game, the rest of the experience is polished to near perfection with some of the best visual storytelling i have ever seen, and to bring it all together it has one of the most thick atmospheres that iv'e ever had the joy of experiencing. Is the game fun? No... not really, although i would argue that that's not really what the game is striving for however what it DOES strive for is nailing it's narrative without dialogue and the feeling of being stuck in this nightmare of an industrial maze where the only way out is out is to keep going forward. Iv'e never played anything so distinct and it's a work of art that i think everyone should experience at least once.

Instantly immersive, terrifying, shocking, horrifying. Potentially even a little too real especially in the beginning. I would warn those who suffer from PTSD, in particular there are scenes of very intense bomb blasts, gunfire, dog attacks. You will see a little boy killed and murdered in a variety of ways including strangulation.
However, this game is an absolute masterpiece. If you enjoyed LIMBO, this game takes that experience to a whole other level. I'd say, LIMBO, ICO, Half-Life, Nazi Germany, and AKIRA. MAXIMUM RECOMMEND.
Would also say it's a fairly straight forward interactive story slash puzzle game. Play it for the immersion and story. Casual Horror, Deeply Rich.

___*NO SPOILERS*___ When I played Inside i was ready for another ordinary puzzle game but I had heard good things about this one and decide to go in blind and I am glad i did, it is a short game and I completed the game in about 3 hours (minus the secret ending) It was absolutely INCREDIBLE the sounds you hear and the feeling of being killed and escaping to see more at every puzzle was absolutely thrilling and if you like any sort of puzzle games I highly recommend this game as the puzzles it shows you are very clever and require some big brain moves to pull off. The lore of the game is absolutely incredible. ___*SPOILER WARNING*___ while your playing as the player get to see this incredibly dark almost crumbled society seeing people who are basically being abused and hurt and being made into mindless slaves for the smarter and richer society who live on top of them, it makes the game seem very ominous as you don't know why they're doing this and what your role is until the end of the game where you finally learn the truth. *FIRST ENDING* The first ending to say the least is the moment when I finally said wtf am I playing currently? as it completely and utterly confuses you but you realise after escaping that the beach scene the character earns freedom as the sea is basically glowing compared to the place you came from and is a way of saying the boy you play as is free even in death and allows you to realise that He has gone to a better place compared to the life he had lived before. *SECOND ENDING* The second ending is less clear and vague and you will have to look up the eggs/orbs/collectables as I guarantee unless you want to spend 12 hours playing its best for you to search them up. When i first played I didn't even know there was a secret second ending until i had picked up all the collectables and it told me to go back to the second collectable in the cornfield after looking at the wall behind the final collectable which only the second light will be glowing up. after when I finally reached the cornfield I then realised I still hadn't opened the secret door as of which afterwards I searched up the sequence for it . I learned you had to have collected all the collectables for you to even access it which you only get to see once however I'll leave that for you guys to see. *CONCLUSION* if you want absolutely beautiful stunning puzzle game to play that truly makes you feel emotion and a connection to the character your playing eventhough you never hear them speak this is without a doubt a absolute must play for anyone.

After years and years of putting it aside, I finally decided to play this game.

There are a lot of similarities between Inside and Limbo, mainly the way both tell their stories (Limbo feels a lot more cryptic), puzzles, ambience, I can see why some people compare them quite often.

I still don't get the story, I mean, I have a guess, but once I finished the game I think I ended up with more questions than at the beginning of it, which is not bad, it leaves most of its lore to your imagination I guess.

The puzzles are great, it's cute and creepy at the same time, it has it's gross moment. It's a short game, but I think for what the game offers it's just great.

There is not much I can say other than, if you like puzzles, platforms, especially if you liked Limbo, give this one a chance, I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Beautiful aesthetic, forgiving gameplay, dark dystopian atmosphere, only thing I didn't enjoy too much is that the ending meanings (both the main and secret) were too open to interpretation, especially after how hard it is to achieve the alternative one. I would have loved to see a more elaborated cinematic.
Gorgeous game nonetheless.

This is a beautifully made puzzler-styled game full of intrigue and mystery; and a well thought-out story. It was very enjoyable.
Played in three sittings to completion.

Inside the darkest depths

Inside is a dark and thrilling platformer from Playdead studios who made Limbo.

Not gonna speak about the story, the game is pretty short and I think you need to experience everything by yourself. The story is pretty dark so for those who prefer darker games with a message and meaning this is a perfect choice.

You play as a boy similarly to Limbo and traverse through levels in side scrolling manner. I personally prefer this game to Limbo just because Inside feels more of a narrative game rather than puzzle/platforming game. Puzzles are much easier and levels have more variety so for those like me who prefer to put story in the first place it's definitely a better game.

There are puzzles of course and some of them may be quite challenging but nothing like Limbo where at some points game became frustrating.
Platforming sections are easier too so both puzzles and platforming do not distract you from the story and doesn't break the flow of the gameplay. I hate when that happens.

Graphically it looks stunning. The graphics are pretty simple but everything is presented and a beautiful artistic style which makes the whole game including every single section look very pretty with its overall aesthetics.

There's not much music in this, music is kind of ambient and combined with other ambient sounds it creates an awesome atmosphere which is tense, horrifying and thrilling.

A must have game for...i guess most people who see games as art.

INSIDE is a short puzzle platformer that takes place in Orwell's vision of dystopian world. It's not exactly Orwell's vision but it bears heavy similarities with it. At first, it gives you an impression of that you're a kid who's trying to escape from this dystopia, but it turns out the actual goal of the kid is a bitter one. Just like LIMBO, it's heavily cryptic and atmospheric. The story is being told without any dialogue and it's open to interpretation, especially the ending. However, unlike LIMBO, it's 2.5D and the animation quality is way better. It takes about roughly 3 hours to complete and it's worth playing for the puzzles alone. Its atmosphere is something else too, so I'd suggest grabbing it whenever you get the chance!

You HAVE to play this game.

As a lover of games such as Limbo and Little Nightmares, the side scrolling platformer trend has never looked better. Inside brings forward an unapologetically mysterious storyline - the whole game is dystopian, atmospheric and interactive. The boy himself is a blank slate that you cannot help but feel responsible for. Despite never saying a word and a featureless face, the developers manage to put fear and intrigue - he turns to look at enemies, braces himself against walls and interacts realistically with the world.

- A solid environment, sound design and interactive elements
- Very engaging puzzles
- A really, really thought provoking storyline
- Hidden secrets

It's some weird game that doesn't have any plot, you just go right and see all the beautiful scenarios and puzzles.
Even at full price still worth it, but it's way better if you wait for a discount.

an amazing, sweet and creepy atmosphere, that i loved every moment of.
the world is sad and dark, but yet so alive.

i'm sure there is a deeper meaning behind this game, but if you play like me it's 4 hours of child murder with some light puzzles. 10/10 would murder child again.

Limbo set the bar high yet Inside pole vaults over it.

The setting is ominous and you get the gist of it and can fully uncover by unearthing the trail of collectables (probably needs multiple play throughs). This game, much like Limbo plays off a childs survival in an unforgiving world, no punches are pulled and the puzzles smart enough to leave you with a smug grin (Then wipe it away with the learning curve for the next one).

With no dialogue or narration it is just one continuous big vibe of bleak mystery with a pearl of hope, and the feelings from completing it 2 months ago are still very much with me.

Whilst this is a great game and playtime does not represent value of the game I'd personally pick this up for under £10.

First of all, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of inside! It has something dark and sinister, and it makes you wanna discover the secrets of this world. The gameplay is also very good, as the controls are simple, and the puzzles are as complex as they should. The last part, where you [spoiler] become a part of this pretty grotesque mash of human beings that have one concioussness [/spoiler], is really well made and it sent shivers down my spine, for sure! If you'd like some eerie and clever platformer, I definitely suggest it.

The atmosphere is beautiful. And even though it's quite ambiguous it makes you feel something - it's genuinely eerie and intriguing. Coming from LIMBO it definitely met my expectations and was hell of a good experience, a must to play!

One of the best games I've played. It's fun, it's challenging, it's different, the graphics and the atmosphere are beautiful. It tells a powerful story without a single word.
Unlike Limbo, the focus is not on the platformer aspect, which for me makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Put simply, narrative is easy to follow. Gameplay is great, has a lot of variety(nothing over stays its welcome). Puzzle are fun and aren't too challenging. Superb level design, also no loading screens. No bugs that I experienced. Easily a 10/10 for the price and experience this game gives you. I am really looking forward to PlayDead's next game! :)

INSIDE short review:

- Props to devs for making this game to be such an unexpected way
- The mechanics and puzzles in this game is kinda big brain for an indie game, but it's the style of their game so i don't mind
- I didn't expect the ending to be like... that
- Gameplay? Smooth, props to the devs for making this game without adding patch etc

Overall, i recommend to all of you who need to play some indie games, this one is a must on a list!

Inside is beautifully put together. Crafted like a clockwork watch made by a master craftsman. Every area you pass through is a pitch perfect tapestry of sombre, unsettling mood. The quiet where quiet shouldn't be. The palpable sense of menace. The weird elements seen throughout that are given next to no explanation (until almost the very end and even then....not really).

You are a boy. You are alone. You have to keep moving and if seen you WILL be pursued.

That's the game in a nutshell. Each new area contains a puzzle, sometimes requiring a spot of dexterity, other times piecing together a solution.

I played this basically in a oner, like that novel you can't put down. It's compelling, building the mystery until you're just desperate to find some answers....

And it all leads to one of the most novel closing chapters I've ever seen in a game. It's so well done I was half-laughing the whole time, wide-eyed and just drinking in the experience. Something new.

Overwhelmingly Positive is right. Don't even think about not buying this. Fabulous.

Inside is a puzzle platformer game with a dark atmosphere and ambient soundtrack from the creators of Limbo.
You take control of an unnamed boy who explores a surreal and mostly monochromatic environment.
The player explores a linear route through different environments, solving challenging puzzles along the his way. The duration of the game is something between 3-5 hours.
There are no instructions, no explanations, no story telling, no dialogues during the whole game. It is very story rich but every piece of story Inside leaves you you have to put together by yourself.
Inside is fantastic game with a great visual style which I really enjoyed. I can recommend this game to everyone, especially those who liked Limbo. You should check out.

Sounds 9/10

Atmosphere 10/10

What did I just witness? This game is an artistic masterpiece that successfully combines beautiful and majestic artwork with a unique and compelling storyline, and engaging gameplay. And all this without a word of text or dialogue. Truly excellent work.

It really is just a 2D, puzzle, side scrolling, platform game. But the way it's done is like nothing I have ever played. This game tells a story with out any words. And It really sucked me in. This game is worth more than they are asking. And well worth a play through.

Monochromatic puzzle platformer game with a dark atmosphere and ambient soundtrack. Challenging puzzles, and story leaded by the player imagination is what makes INSIDE a masterpiece.

Really awesome game and story is really good too. Really liked the feel and atmosphere of the game. It's not that hard game but the puzzles are really good in it. If you have played Limbo then this is the game for you. However even if you habe not played Limbo, this game deserves to be played at east once.

This is hands down the greatest game I've ever played and one of my all time favourites. It is, in my opinion, a masterpiece of wordless story-telling delivered in a compelling, immersive world. I love everything about it.

Stunning visual and sound art direction. Each scene and level makes you stop, appreciate details and the atmosphere: like the water or dust clouds kicked up as the main character runs. The shock-waves level is spectacular.
The game play is simple like LIMBO. The puzzles are short and clever.
The narrative is ambiguous and environmental: everything is implicit.
Lovely game that can be completed in less than 4hrs.

if you like platformer and puzzle games this game will be an incredible experience for you. it has an amazing dystopian, dark, sci-fi atmosphere to it, like I'm speechless how amazing it is... the puzzles require minor brain usage compared to those of Portal or The Talos Principle. just buy and play this. I cannot recommend it enough

This isn't a game, this a once in a life experience. The superb camera work together with one of the most impressive and well made sound effects I've ever heard in a video game really makes Inside stand out. Crazy to think that this game was made by actual people. Inside really makes you get invested in the puzzles instead of just brute-forcing every option, you have stop and think until the solution clicks into your mind. When you complete a puzzle you feel clever and you think that the puzzle was clever too rather than thinking it had an unfair solution. It's impossible to finish the game without coming up with one or two theories of your own and different approaches to what you just experienced.

This game has an amazing atmosphere, a beautiful soundtrack, and astonishing visuals, that will make you wonder why the cinema industry hasn't done anything similar to this yet.
The story telling is powerful and very critical, without ever indulging you with an explanation, or even words for that matter.
A real masterpiece, one of the best thing I've seen in a long long time.
It is rather short, and the puzzles are good and fairly simple, but it matters little, to be honest.
The ending is both disturbing and magnificent.

Just go for it!

I'm definitely in the minority on this, but I genuinely didn't like this game. Typically I'm the exact core audience for this type of game as I adore most indie platformers. However, this was just very underwhelming as a whole experience. From an aesthetics standpoint it's reasonably well made, the audio/visuals serve their purpose, but it's nothing that I haven't seen before. Even their previous effort in Limbo was better at selling the atmosphere to me. Once you get past the artsy label, the actual gameplay is rather tedious. It starts off strong with a good direction but loses itself halfway through and the puzzles end up feeling more like an annoyance instead of a worthwhile challenge to be overcome. As for the narrative, it is vague and open to interpretation, which is fine in and of itself, but it feels like too many indie games are relying on this form of story telling as a crutch. Overall, I just can't figure out what part of the game was meant to be satisfying. The aesthetics are a dime a dozen, the gameplay is copy/paste from many other puzzle/platformers with less creativity, and the narrative is yet another vague story that alludes to themes but never actually pays them off. Of course as I said in the beginning, I'm clearly in the minority as this game apparently received overwhelmingly positive reviews from most of the Steam user base.

I do not know why I haven't written a review for the game of my life. I have replayed it many times and had many of my friends to replay this to watch their reactions. This game shook me, opened my chest, ripped away my heart, broke it, put a headset on it and controlled it, then inserted it back with much confusion.

The storytelling is... well... non-linguistically amazing. There is not a single word uttered in this game. Nevertheless it tells a story that is so emotionally deep, so bleak, so dystopic... It haunted me for a while.

The level design is awesome, I remember every single one of them. It is intense, clever, well designed. Another thing I can praise is that how everything sounds amazing in this game. Since the game lacks any kind of linguistic content the sounds will get in your head like never before. Horrifying dog barks, children panting, squeaks, glass cracks, water splashes... All is in my head, all is well done.

One thing I can sort of critisize is that the ending was a little underwhelming, even for this type of a chaotic game. It asks a thousand questions answers a dozen. I found myself staring to the credits and going like, wh.. what!? why?!!

Maybe I exaggerated it in mind. But it was a peerless experience that I have never seen before. Maybe a reviewer go out and give this one a 7 or 8 out of 10 because it's lacking storytelling elements, however I will give it a full 10/10 because all of its uniqueness in artfulness, storytelling and athmosphere.

Was legit addicted to this game, it's worth all the hype. It's simple, yet so well done. So much depth in the story and beautiful visuals. Hours of my life well spent.

aren't many games like this and i really wish there were, really like the ambience and dawning mystery, and it really sucks that this is one of the only games (other than The Forest) that has that gritty fear that you know you're in some sinister project that only gets deeper.

This game is a blissful delight :). I am a big fan of minimalist puzzle games and this game stands very tall in that category. I and my wife played this game on our television with surround sound speaker setup. I used Steam Link (LAN) to cast the game on my TV and played using a Steam Controller.
Even though the game is short, i had a deep immersive experience while solving the puzzles and navigating our protagonist(s). The game certainly starts and ends with a tease.

Inside is a fantastic game. The animation and lighting is extremely well done. And from a technical perspective, INSIDE is very well optimized. The story is vague enough to allow for subjective interpretation, but not too vague to the point where it feels like it's meaningless. The puzzles of Inside are a big step up from Limbo. There was never a moment where I felt like a puzzle was being unfair to me. Seriously good game; I recommend Inside to anyone.

If you:

-are into unusual art,
-are OK with weird stuff,
-enjoy problem solving,
-do not have any problem with a bit of violence,

I've never played a game where the balance of minimalism versus a rich sense of atmosphere have been so expertly crafted. The story itself is incredibly well developed where you have no idea what will come next yet it all flows, spurring the player forth.

INSIDE can be finished in approx. 2-3 hours so a nice pace between story telling and puzzle solving.

As a side note. I must admit the 'violence' the main character can suffer when some attempts are failed left a slight discomfort given that the protagonist is a child, but I understood the impact it made to story. A necessary evil I suppose to make the game more intense for the player and not a criticism per se, just a personal observation.

That aside, it is truly a game worth playing (which are few and far between these days). Highly recommended.
