King’s Bounty: Crossworlds bietet:

CAMERA VIEW

You can set the mini-map to rotate or set it fixed North. The world view, however, continuously rotates if you hold down the left mouse button to move. The only way it doesn't rotate is if you single click from place to place. This killed the experience for me before anything else.

You're walking through a forest with similar looking structures, trails, and trees, the camera is rotating, the mini-map is doing whatever it's doing, and at a certain point, you realize that you have no idea where you came from, where you're going or which general direction you're facing.

It would be much better if the camera could be set to fixed, if you could use the right mouse button to look around, and if the world view slowly rotated back to fixed North when you let the button go.

Even if you could fix the world view, you can't zoom out far enough, no matter how you rotate the camera. You always see more terrain North of the character and barely any terrain South of your character. So it's easy to walk into battles you don't mean to walk into.

VERY LIMITED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME

You can only hold a certain amount of any troops. It's based on how high your Leadership is. It's very time consuming raising your leadership, especially considering that BECAUSE you have so few troops, you have to replenish them after every one or two battles. It doesn't matter if you have the resources to have 10 times as big of an army. You simply aren't allowed to use the resources that at your disposal.

This aspect of the game made me feel like I was playing a free game on a phone. As in, I started getting the feeling of anticipation that it was about to ask me to pay actual money to increase my leadership more quickly. It didn't, it just felt that way. It's just constant crawling through the game.

RAGE

You have Rage and Mana. Your Rage is for your dragon's skills, and it fills up when units in battle attack each other. The dragon skills seem to be some of the most useful and powerful skills at the very beginning.

If you fill up you're Rage, and win a battle, your Rage meter slowly depletes as you move across the open world. It was yet another thing making it seem like I was crawling through the game instead of progressing through the game.

ONE OF THE FEW GAMES THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU SICK

The only other games I experienced this with so far, are the Doom games. I've played FPS games before, but there's something about the Doom games specifically that makes me severely nauseous. For whatever reason, this game gives me the same feeling, although it's definitely not as bad as when I Play Doom.

FONT

Something games continue insisting on is making the Fonts up to 3 times smaller than they need to be. I couldn't find an option to change this, and this is something I know that many people agree on. Most people don't want to lean in, every time a huge block of text comes up.

On a related note, when you're talking to people in the open world, you might accidentally click on a building or a NPC. Doing this brings up a dialogue box with options. Instinctually, from playing other games, you'd think you can just click anywhere else on the world and move to that spot while the dialogue box is still up, but you can't. You have to click the option in the dialogue box that closes the dialogue box first.

CONCLUSION

The Heroes of Might and Magic games are some of my favorites. King's Bounty seems to draw inspiration them, if that's what you're looking for, but again, being so limited after being a few hours into the game, along with the other issues I listed above, it just kind of killed the experience for me.

I hope they update it with more options and settings that can enhance the gameplay experience for people different preferences.

Bought it on sale for 3.74 USD, but it's certainly worth full price. 54 hours to get through the original campaign, then another 55 hours to get through the Orcs on the March expanded campaign. If that's not good value for the money, I don't know what is.

I played this one back in the mid-2010s, it was the first one of this type of game I played. Had a lot of fun with it then, and again this time around.

Highly recommended!

While staying true to the old King's Bounty formula, Crossworlds brings just enough refreshment to justify another 30+ hour playthrough.

They don't make games like this anymore. A strict upgrade from Kings Bounty Legends, cutting some of the more annoying stuff while adding QOL improvements. The world is bigger, there is more of everything, but the game rests on a proven and well balanced foundation. Difficulty ramps up fast, buth things smooth out again once you mastered Verona and Monero.

Crossworld = Armored Princess + Orcs on the March Expansion, so buy this instead of Armored Princess.

I recommend this game because I enjoy playing it. If you liked King's Bounty: The Legend (KBTL) then you will probably like this game. Although, I am having a little difficulty adjusting to some of the changes. There are some changes that I really like, some that I don't like that much, and some that I am starting to appreciate as the game progresses.

There are a lot of new units to pick from and that can be hard to because you have a lot of choices, but it is nice that you start with 2 reserve slots automatically. Some tweaks have been made to some of the units and I still haven't experimented with the Adrenaline system that the orc units now use.

I also noticed that you can get higher level units very early and doing a zero loss game seems more difficult than in KBTL, but it might just be because I haven't experimented with the right units or skill increases.

I would guess that about 60% or so of the game is the same, meaning items, spells, units, mechanics, etc. But there are a lot of new items, spells, units, etc. too.

And you can't get to a lot of areas without managing to get Navigation scrolls, which are protected by tougher enemy units. The game is set up as a series of islands and you have to have a Navigation scroll to unlock each new island on the map, whereas in KBTL you could get to at least 4 different areas and run around enemies right from the start.

I do like that many of the quests that I have finished so far don't require me to go all the way back to the person who gave me the quest. They seem to just complete and give the reward when you take the last action.

In my first play through, with multiple restarts and experimentation, and about 34 hours of game time, I managed to reach Level 13 with only 3 combats and partially explore about 6 islands before I just couldn't get any more Navigation scrolls. Now I need to start fighting everything to get more experience before I can unlock other islands. You can get to a much higher level in this game too. And the runes that you get seem to be more consistent.

I haven't found any real bugs or had any game crashes yet. Just like KBTL, the game seems very stable. However, I have found a few inconsistencies between descriptions and game play. For instance, the description for Ghost Pirates seem to indicate that the unit will only discover a chest during battle if there isn't already a chest on the battle grid. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Every single combat I use the Ghost Pirates a new chest pops up, even if there was already a chest or chests on the battle grid. That might be a bug or it might just be a mistake in the description of the unit. Most examples of that I have seen is just poorly worded or unclear description text.

Again, I base my recommendation on whether I am enjoying the game, which I am. I like old school games the best so I am somewhat easy to please and I usually play with the sound turned very low so I don't care about musical score or sound effects.

Overall, I think if you liked KBTL, then you will probably like this game, but it might take a bit of adjusting to the changes. Just give it a chance and keep an open mind.

A solid addition to the King's Bounty series. Definitely buy this instead of Armored Princess for all the extra features.

My favorite part was actually the Defender of the Crown minigame. Basically, you start on an island with randomized units and equipment to buy. Defeat the first enemy and new units and equipment become available to purchase. So on and so forth for a total of 6 battles. Each battle has its own theme that adds an extra challenge, such as enemy buffs and invisible traps.

Unfortunately, those 6 battles go by rather quickly, and it'll always be those same 6 arenas on every playthrough. I would love to see an updated version of this mode in a future game with randomized missions and a longer campaign (at least 10+ battles). I've always been a one and done for the main King's Bounty campaigns, but this would give the game a huge amount of replayability. (much like conquests in the game Northgard, for those who have played it)

I was never a huge fan of bosses, so the gladiator arena and its 8 extra boss fights didn't really appeal to me.

This version has armored princess, champion of the arena, defender of the crown and the improved version of armored princess with more items and what not. I played the armored princess for a bit but the story is kinda boring and uninteresting compared to the original. From what i saw online this is long for no reason. The other extra campaigns are short and meh. I liked the original more

I've put 560+ hours into the king's bounty games, and i feel that I've played them quite casually, not seen everything or fought every battle.
They are a joy to play, and this is probably the best one, the one that is a pleasure for longest.
You can get it extremely cheaply if you wait for a sale, you can play it on a very low end machine.
It has a lot to recommend it, the unit variety, the writing, the feeling of riding a horse or piloting a ship.
Lovely game :)

I think I have the most hours in this game of any Steam person outside of Russia. It's my go-to when I just want to relax after a long day of work. A great Hex game reminicent of the good old Heroes of Might and Magic before they started to suck. At the time of my review, this game is ancient, but still worth playing IMO.

Can be hard AF and even impossible if you don't plan your army/strategy correct. Often times I've found myself running ahead to other areas to grab the goodies earlier than I'm supposed to, only leaving out things i can't reach through the high level mobs, so that when I return to my normal level place, I have an edge.

The most accomplished game of the series, lore, combat, some exploration, humour, progression, it has them all.

However, the constant need to replenish troops after almost each battle is exhausting and makes the game extremely repetitive. Even resuscitating spells doesn't help much. You'll find yourself going to find fresh troop all the time. Which means a second playthrough is not an option. This is a glaring and heavy fault. The game is still worth being played once.

Essentially- a well-balanced Armored Princess with some extra sauce.

Additional content:
1)Two relatively short campaigns that really don't provide anything interesting or challenging. One of them is a sandbox arena, and the other one- is a scuffed version of said arena featuring Princess Amelie and better fights.

2)Orcs on the March:
-A new boring quest with an incredibly challenging fight at the end.
-Literally- tons of new items and the artifact mechanic, when you combine certain items together to form an overpowered relic that takes up only one slot of equipment.
-Relatively sizeable amount of changes to the talent trees, so other classes won't be so much worse than the Mage.
-Massive overhaul of orcs and introduction of Adrenaline, that makes most of their units relatively overpowered in most of the scenarios.
-Large amount of changes to the original units and introduction of a few extras.
-Changes to the spellbook that balance some of the more mediocre spells and bring back the abilities of the Spirits of Rage from the first game in form of usable spells.

*)Side note- Moro Dark is even more overpowered compared to the Armored Princess.-

OOM: 9/10. Rest: time consuming bullshit.

First of all: Crossworlds = enhanced Armored Princess for PC gamers. The stand-alone Armored Princess is intended for Mac users, since there's no Crossworlds for Mac.

Secondly: this is probably the best King's Bounty there is. It has all the good stuff - pleasurable grind, silly-but-fun storyline, plenty of different units and spells etc. without the negatives of the later games (i.e. game-breaking bugs, excessive back-and-forth-running, so-so balance).

+ nice atmosphere
+ constant feeling of progress
+ plenty to do (50+ hours per playthrough easily)
+ holds its grip until the very end

+/- lots and lots of text, but it's skimmable and light-heartedly funny

Highly recommended!

Absolutely awesome game. The Kings Bounty series remains one of my favorites of all time, and one of the only series I'll actually replay through several times. It's an exploration game where you lead armies around the world, picking up relics and leveling up your character. It plays similarly to games like Heroes of Might and Magic, but the major difference (and the reason I like this series better), is you are encouraged and rewarded for exploring. There is no turn counter while you explore the map, putting you in a race against other towns or enemies. Explore as much as you want and roam everywhere without fear that your enemy is building up their army while you have fun. If you run into an area where the enemy is too strong for you, just explore somewhere else and come back once you gain some levels and spells.

Like Heroes of Might and Magic? Want to just control a hero and not worry about that pesky city building, or enemies taking them from you? Want to go on an epic adventure with an army and combat like in the HoMM games? This game is what you should buy, then! It's the HoMM experience without city building, but more features in other areas, where you go around hiring allies for your army, to engage in combat in that exciting HoMM way!

King's bounty plays a lot like Heroes of Might and Magic, whenever you have an encounter on the overworld you have stacked units on a hex board with turn based combat. You get a dragon that can cast a spell per turn (increased turn cooldown depending which spell you choose) and your hero character (the armored princess) can cast a spell per turn. Your hero character equips armor and weapons that change your hero's stats. The hero isn't involved in combat other than spells but your stats are attributed to your units in combat. Overall King's bounty is one of my favorite games and it is oddly addicting.
