Man muss sich auf das Micromanagement einlassen und das viele lernen dann ist es Genial!
Ärger mich es so lange nicht ausprobiert zu haben obwohl ich es hatte..
verstehe jetzt warum viele so drauf schwören!

Ziemlich gutes Game! Lässt sich vielfältig Moden (Star Wars / Warhammer etc.) und hat das beste Panzerschlacht Feeling überhaupt (nichts schöneres als einen Querrschläger, der am Turm des Panzer IV abgeprallt ist pfeifen zu hören ^.^)

Intensive Gefechte mit Infanterie und Panzern jeder art. Das schöne ist, dass das spiel so gebaut ist, dass eine gut genutzte Umgebung oder sogar ein einziger herangeschlichener Infanterist den Ausgang eines Gefechts entscheiden können.

So hat es schon ein popliger Volkssturmsoldat bei mir geschafft, einen feindlichen Molotov und eine Panzerfaust zu ergaunern und hat damit zunächst einen Graben Infanteristen auszuräuchern um dann dem feindlichen T34 mit der Panzerfaust den Turm bewegungsunfähig zu schießen. Freude pur ^.^

Das nicht vorhandene Schere Stein-Papier-Prinzip gibt dem Spiel eine ganz neue strategische Tiefe.

Das beste Strategie Game, welches ich bisher gespielt habe.
Jedoch nur mit Mods, da ich das Base Game (ohne Mods) nicht allzu spannend finde, es ist der Editor der dem Spiel den Reiz verleit und es einem ermöglicht seine Fantasien mithilfe von Hunderten von Mods und Maps auszuleben.

I play this games since 6 years in multiplayer and still is lots of fun and doesnt get boring.
it is better than company of heros
good physics , buildings and vehicle damage is very well simulated.

if you compare it to other games it is one of the few very good games!

Die MOAB aller WWII Echtzeit - Strategie - Spiele. ;)
Ein bespielbares Diorama als PC Game. Einfach Toll.
Auf jeden Fall den MP-Part probieren, mit Freunden gegen KI oder andere Spieler ist der HIT.
Ich hoffe auf einen neuen Teil.

Men of War Assault Squad 2,
ist ein super Spiel was ich jetze schon echt Empfehlen kann !

Steuerung versteht man schnell und die Grafik kann sich heute noch echt sehen lassen.
Wie man schon im Trailer gesehen hat, hat man mehrere Nationen und darunter eine hohe Auswahl an Fahrzeugen, Infanterie usw.

Das Spiel habe ich schon lange, aber jetze spiele ich es nur mal zur abwechslung, und kann immer noch sagen, dass es spaß macht.

Wer auf Taktisches vorgehen steht und das 2 Weltkrieg Setting interessant findet, dann findet ihr bestimmt auch gefallen an Men of War Assault Squad 2.

Ich mag das Spiel sehr. Man kann realistische ww2 schlachten spielen oder mit Mods auch aktuelle auf schlacht feldern spielen. ich kann es nur weiter empfehlen

I definitely recommend this game. After the past few years of messing around in the editor and using modded missions with friends. This game really makes the RTS fun and makes you feel like its a Battlefield and you have various of objectives

its fun for the whole family, let your 4 year old scream 'ADVANCE' as he pushes his nazi army to destroy everything in its path. or watch as your older sibling rages over losing a tank :)

Solid ww2 game , but come for the mods . Getting Cadians fucking murdered because I'm a terrible commander never immersed me more in 40k .

Also a star wars mod but you have to use the editor , I don't work for NASA so using it isn't very plausible . Not a knock on the mod more just an admission that I'm a moron

4/5 could use with having a cosmetic shop and in-game currency

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is an amazing RTS/Management game. The style is unique, and never done before. The squad concept is a nice interesting twist. Assault Squad 2 has been in my life since the beginning. High quality and amazing game! 9.5/10

Great World War 2 Real Time Squad/Section Level Game

I started playing this game originally because of the Warhammer 40k modding scene, but boy, the base game is awesome by itself. My friend and I completed the online campaign for all the forces, and it was usually a good time. The game takes a lot of historical battles from World War 2, and pits you as either Axis or Allies. All the major factions are there to play, although I would have liked to have seen others like the Canadians/French played out more.

Battles usually revolve around capturing objectives if you are the attacking force, with tanks/infantry. You will occasionally have artillery and aircraft support, but its not often. Some of the battles were downright beautiful/ albeit chaotic. Infantry scrambling for cover while tanks advance and fire their guns, artillery raining down on enemy positions, and sometimes aircraft dropping their payloads. Its get just as fun in multiplayer! Playing COOP is also really enjoyable if you can get a friend to play. Some of the battles are so large in scale that they really affect the performance even on high-end machines (probably due to poor optimization). There are no resources to speak of, no resource gathering. Its all from captured points or just generated if any.

The modding scene for this game is amazing. There are many different types of mods which are just awesome. Activating mods from the work shop is very simple, as you just subscribe to them and activate in game. There are a few which require a little more tinkering in the main root folder of the game but otherwise it was straightforward. Starwars / valour / robzrealism are a few good ones that I know. There are also many maps for the vanilla game, which can really add a lot of replayability for the game. As of writing this, I have 439 hours. A lot of that was also spent in the game editor. The editor itself is a bit complicated at first. If you have any design and programming backround, its not to difficult to figure out. You can create your own custom maps and scenarios with various timed events via scripting. The scripting engine was not too bad, I was able to create a few different scenarios where the AI would fight each other, and it was really cool watching them try to flank. Of course, you can also program set tasks / waypoints for the units to take, and its really cool to watch the same battle end differently.

The game itself does not require a high-end expensive computer, as it is a bit dated. But once you start including mods such as high resolution textures / extra effects and additional placeholders for the game , your system will start stuttering if its not at least 2 GB of VRAM. Its rather poorly optimized when all the effects start hitting the screen, and I don't blame the game, but you should limit these in the settings prior to playing (especially in multi-player, where they will affect your ping and performance.) You should aim for a bit higher than the recommended settings, but as it is, I ran it fine on my old PC with a gtx 770 and AMD fx8370.

Realistic? Probably not. But I had a lot of fun with this.
Game play is a bit dated, but still fun. You start the mission controlling a few units . Some missions are stealth/commando style where reinforcements are almost none. AI can be very difficult to play against. But I would get this on sale. Def a fun game if you are into WW2 . There are also players and modders in the online community that are keeping the game alive. If you can wait, get it on sale.

you have to buy the DLC to play multiplayer against the AI. you know skirmish mode that is free in every RTS

This game is dated but it is 200% better than the newer Call to Arms and The Gates of Hell: Osterfront. Don't waste your money on these games. Get Men of War: Assault Squad 2. Great graphics and sound, great games mechanics with an actual manual and tutorials for new players. And Steam is practically giving it away at its current discounted price. Pretty much frustration free and fun to play with tons of downloads from the community workshop. 4.5 out of 5 on my rating system.

Hitting an enemy vehicle's ammo-rack while it's facing your Infantry / Tank is a feeling like no-other, It's so satisfying to completely detonate a tank and destroy it's crew (which probably have kids or families).

Also I get to burn the Japs with a M4 Croc, so that's nice!

Men of war is my childhood and i will always enjoy playing it for the mods and epic battles. With that being said I don't like the fact that they put bots behind a paywall in the form of DLC. It is a core feature of the game especially for those without internet. After you already spent money on a full priced game you should not have to go back and pay even more just for something as simple as bots. Highly dissapointed and don't think i will be buying another MOW title in the future until they stop with the excessive DLC's and bare minimum base game.
The game itself is essentially a copy and paste of the original Assault squad. Slightly more maps, slightly better units, and slightly better graphics. why would anyone fork up for a 10 dollar DLC for a game that is essentially DLC itself. massively dissapointed especially considering i bought the delux edition assuming i would be getting more features not having content stripped from the game.

An Incorrect Summary of Men of War: Assault Squad II.

So what can you expect?

You're interested in WWII.
You click buy.
This is where the fun stops and the war crimes begin.

There are two factions, Axis and Allies, just like the real World War II.
Every individual country has a campaign you can play and they vary in number of war crimes depending on which one you play.
You think that's it? Too bad you're wrong and there's more.
Hans gets a flammenwerfer, Johnny gets his shotgun, Sir Nathaniel gets his crumpets and tea, and Japan idk, I don't play weeb faction.

There is also multiplayer, which is another word for cancer and long matchmaking times but that's fine.
The singleplayer is extremely polished and has tons of content.
I've played this game for several years now and it never really gets old it's quote fun, especially co-op game modes.

Unlike other trash games, there are no micro-transactions and it doesn't need the other DLC's to actually be playable.
There aren't actually shotguns in the game that I know of.
That's about it. Congratulations, you have finished playing a session for the day and committing various war crimes across Europe and Asia, it has been a good day.
This game CANNOT take the place of a girlfriend in your life, it is not an FPS.
When you put money into this game (aka buying it,) It does not try to do good, IT IS good.
If you play Axis you will be put on a watch list.

I originally only got this game for the Star Wars Galaxy At War Mod, but I've enjoyed the base game so much I haven't even got round to downloading it yet.

Overall a great game and would recommend the game to anyone wanting to play a WW2 game with large scale battles or just people who like a blend between action and strategy.

The main reason i got this game was for the mod support. I have the other MoW games and liked certain things about it but i felt it was a little unrefined. After playing several hours with various mods i decided to give the vanilla game a go and i am truly impressed. The fluidity of the battles, improved ui and handling along with an overall better experience than the first MoW. Now i find myself comfortably playing this game over steel division 2 and company of heroes due to the discovery of cool abilities and special units MoW have that freshened up the franchise as a whole.

Love this game. The sounds, the visuals, the missions. The moment when an enemy anti-tank round ricochets of your vehicle and you have seconds to react before the next one comes. Spent 80+ hrs in single player before I even started multiplayer, which is still active.

100% better with the Robz Realism Mod, which adjusts gun ranges, fire rate, armour, damage and more.

Once you buy it, go to it's workshop and download Robz Realism Mod. I like to think Robz is whats making this game alive among many other great mods. Robz Realism Mod is the kind of love and effort of what the game should've been given.

I have had this game since 2014, I have good and bad memories with this game. The base game served its purpose and is fun but gets really boring after a while. However over the years I've noticed the mods have only gotten better and more better each year. Personal favorite of mine is the Ultimate Warhammer 40k mod. If you want a chill game to play with the homies then why the hell are you still reading my review? Get this game to have a good time with friends my dudes trust me you'll thank me later.

If you want a classic RTS with a twist, this is the game for you. You can control your troops to get additional control of the battlefield. The biggest issues I have faced is some poor pathfinding on occasion and the voice acting can be very bad at points. Outside of those two things I have been having a good time playing this game.

One of the best WW2 RTS i've ever seen. A huge variations of vehicles, units, and a bunch of gamemodes. You can play the campaign with your friends. The game engine is good, but in some cases there may be issues with people getting stuck in textures.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is a great WW2 RTS with realistic combat (every bullet is simulated individually, there are no hitscans) and the option to control each unit directly.

The battles are a lot of fun, with destructible buildings and a dynamic cover system for infantry. Your men can take cover behind walls, but the walls can be destroyed by high explosive shells... or a heavy tank driving through them. Destroyed tanks can be used as cover, too... but a damaged tank that hasn't burned out completely can be repaired and captured, then turned on the enemy. Infantry can take over any piece of equipment on the field. You can take out the crew of enemy artillery, then man the guns yourself and turn them around. The game has many options for detailed tactics like these.

Tank armor has different thickness ratings on each side of the tank, and instead of having hitpoints, tanks receive damage based on where they are hit. Even the most heavily armored tank is not invulnerable: you can take out its tracks and make it immobile. You can aim for its main gun to damage it and make it incapable of shooting back at you. It's a great system that makes tank battles exciting, you always want to outflank the enemy tank to get a shot at its weaker side and rear armor, and to get a chance at taking out its tracks.

The game comes with several single player missions that usually follow the same pattern. Every faction has a couple of skirmishes where you need to push against the enemy lines and take their flags. Every faction has one massive defense mission where you need to hold the line against huge enemy waves for 15 minutes, a tank defense mission where neither you nor the enemy get to use much infantry, it's all about tanks and AT guns, and a stealth mission where you only get light infantry and have to carefully maneuver to defeat a numerically superior enemy.

The AI is pretty braindead in most of these scenarios, but it still offers a challenge through the sheer mass of units it will throw at you. Especially the skirmish missions are fun, where you slowly move forward inch by inch against the enemy defenses while also building up defensive lines of your own to push back their counterattacks. The AI is coded to basically just defend its initial lines (they won't move their initial defensive squads away from their positions, ever) and send any reinforcements against the flags you have conquered. Essentially it's a neverending spam of units being thrown against you until you finally capture the enemy's last flag.

It's a pretty accurate simulation of the experience Germans had against the Soviets in the later stages of the war.

My recommendation for enjoying the single player missions: use Cheat Engine to give yourself infinite reinforcement points. Play on the highest difficulty. The enemy will spam countless hordes of infantry and more high quality tanks than you could ever afford, but thanks to Cheat Engine you can spam just as well. Enjoy MASSIVE battles that turn every single building on the map into a heap of rubble.

There's also multiplayer, which is fun. Play with your friends and rage when they destroy your best tank with a sneaky AT infantry flanking maneuver. Or play co-op defense against an AI that keeps spamming you with units. I've had a couple multiplayer games with friends, and they were thoroughly enjoyable.

There's also plenty of mods that enhance the experience or change it entirely. Robz Realism is a favorite of mine, I played that one in multiplayer with some friends. Adds plenty of new tanks, new factions (Waffen-SS, oh yeah baby), and makes all the explosions bigger. It also adds completely OP flamethrower tanks we agreed to never use in multiplayer because of how OP they are.
There are also mods that change the timeframe from WW2 to various other settings: WW1, Cold War, and even the 18th to 19th centuries. Yeah, there's a mod that changes Men of War to a musket era game with scenarios set in the American Revolution, the US Civil War, and Custer's Last Stand.

So yeah. Great game, fun in singleplayer despite a crappy AI, fun in multiplayer with friends, and it's got plenty of mods too. I got the complete edition with all DLCs during a sale and it was absolutely worth the money.

Good tactical control. Easy direction and movement. Just bad character control and AI, characters are often loose and disobeying of controls. You have to specifically order squads or characters to take specific movements or they will not take them even if the whole squad has them. Also, units break stance and stand while running from one position to another and stand while firing upon move and have to be ordered to move in position or to post again.Recon and enemy visibility are not good either, sometimes you may be within 10 feet of a target and still cannot spot them. Barring that, the gameplay is overall good and tactical support and availability of weapons units is major. I will give a 7 out of 10 for that.

very fun game with very minor things not ice about it
pros:
dynamic battles
forces you to be flexable with your planning
able to take control of tanks and men, which is really nice
very nice and replayable missions if you aint a multi kind of person
mods (hint the 40k mod is amazing :D)
cons:
if you are used to games like this such as Company of Heros, the squad system is kinda weird and annoying
pathfinding is a bit wonky sometimes but manageable

If i'm gonna be honest, Some of my favourite games of all time include Rome Total War, AoE 2, Just Cause 2, Rimworld, Mount and Blade And MEN OF WAR ASSAULT SQUAD 2.
It is a masterpiece in real time strategy, the detail of cover, the unique aspects of the units.
Now i don't play the singleplayer... really ever, All my hours are in MP or Co op. And it's fantastic, a game i can always come back to and have a blast.

The fundamentals for a great game is there. It looks and plays great and the added realism of needing supplies is a breath of fresh air.

There is only one problem. The single player campaigns are awful.
Why?
The AI never runs out of supplies or units. They can rush you indefinitely and they do. Even if you just started the level, they will give you a few minutes and then rush your starting position relentlessly and they will NEVER run out of soldiers.

This is meant to be a strategy game, but how do you formulate a strategy against an enemy that never runs out of supplies or reinforcements and never does anything besides rush your position with their infinite resources?

You can't.
And for that reason I cannot recommend this game to any single player strategy fan.

If you want this, get it with multiplayer in mind.
The single player experience is not worth it on its own.

This game is fun to play with friends and fun to take nice and relaxing. I would also reccomend this game if you like WW2 games this provides a nice atmosphere that is similar to Hearts of Iron IV. For a real-time-strategy game it does most things correct, but there is no doubt you will have a fun genuine experience playing this game :D

Yep that's right, if you want to play anything except campaign you have to pay extra. On top of a game that already costs $39.99.

I refuse to pay for something that should be in the base game. DLC is supposed to add and expand upon the game, not complete it and make it playable.

This is the best WW2 RTS game so far, If you finish all mission's. There always workshop that can give you unlimited mission's or mods. Including editor mode to create sandbox game's.

This game, its fanbase, and the developers are pure, crystallized AIDs. The only reason people still play this, is nobody has a better alternative and thus the stagnation continues. I recommend this to nobody unless you have a fundamental disregard for your free time, and any vestige of a social life.

As it is, I'll continue to play this because The hate for myself outweighs my hate for this game, but I urge you to avoid this unless, as I do you find fault with modern games, and want to repeatedly bang your head against this buggy, 32 bit dinosaur of a Russian monstrosity.

In short, go play literally anything else, and you'll probably thank yourself later.

Thankfully, if I remember correctly some doofus actually bought me this game all those years back, so the only money I've actually spent on it was buying the DLC that readded goddamn _bots_ into the game.

Run away, far, far away and you'll live a more satisfying life. Cheers, I hope you fall off a cliff.

This is a great game, very enjoyable when you get in to it. It reminds me a lot of World in Conflict which was superb, the latter being set in a fictional future whereas this one is based (loosely) around real battles in WWII.

My only gripe is that the interface takes a bit of getting used to and it's not always obvious what you can do - there are lots of hotkeys that can help but it's hard to know what they are - mostly I've picked things up by trial and error - the onscreen HUDs are confusing to say the least.
I have found the mouse actions to be a bit confusing too, sometimes you have to left-click other times right, it just gets a bit confusing and ends up in errors usually at a critical time. A better tutorial would have been good to pick out some of the key points - for instance it took me ages to realise that my men were running out of ammo and I had to get them back to a supply truck to refill or scavenge from dead soldiers. There are hints that appear during loading but there is so much depth to the game that they don't really cover enough.

The graphics are pretty good but sometimes it is hard to distinguish things and sometimes the unit selection can be a bit hit and miss. It's also difficult to determine which vehicles are truly disabled or not on both sides.

Overall this is a good game though, and I really like the fact that you can save at any point and it will resume exactly where you left off, which is really handy for just squeezing in a quick session.

If you are a fan of the WW2 strategy game genre then I would highly recommend this game as the multiplayer holds many hours of entertainment. The biggest let down for the game is the single player. However, I found myself glued to the seat with such a strong multiplayer, and I can see many people enjoying it.

Read a lot of good reviews on this game, went in trying to like it & got instantly turned off by the controls & stuff, as well as the lack of explanation/ good tutorial for such a complex game; simply not my cup of tea having to figure the mechanics out for myself so much.

Disappointing campaign, I expected an improvement over the first game. I checked out all the campaign maps and half of the campaign maps starts with the lame 'defend against the attack', no freedom in building up your army, no freedom on your strategy and added scripted events.

They have improved the UI and added some other minor improvements and added Steam workshop, but degraded the gameplay on a lot of the maps and removed the free skirmish feel in single player campaign mode.

I bought the gold edition and it turns out that a lot of the maps are from the first game with some redone textures.

I will keep playing on the campaign maps that are okay, but half of it is wasted content to me and I could just as well have kept playing the first game.

It is most definitely one of the best RTS games around. But it is not without its flaws. I found it difficult to get through a full campaign for any faction as I simply got bored with the predictable enemy AI, over-complicated micromanagement of units and frustration of constantly having to micromanage my units in a way that was too complicated.

See how I said the same thing, twice, in a long-winded fashion? That's what it feels like to have to select a squad, choose an individual squad member, have them look in a disabled vehicle, open their inventory, move the jerry can over, select the jerry can, walk them to the friendly tank out of gas and fill it up to 3%, return to the disabled vehicle and fill the jerry can, return to the friendly tank to get it up to 6%, and so on... Meanwhile, the enemy sniper has killed the other half of that poor guys squad and I can hear the distinct sound of a Panzer coming from my left flank which I have't had time to reinforce because I was getting gas for my Sherman.

Really fun mechanics for squad-level gameplay, far too much for anything platoon sized and above.
