The only problem with this game is that it advertises itself as a puzzle game. It has puzzle elements, but this is more of a reaction time weird physics game. So it explains where the negative reviews come from. But as somebody who has 100%ed I Am Bread, I love stupid physics games, so I actually really enjoy this game.

This is one of my favorite old indie games that i loved to replay everyone once in a while. It plays similarly to Portal, and has very fun puzzles, cool gadgets, and funny dialogue. If you are looking for a fun, laid back puzzle games that reminds you of Portal, get this game now.

This game never knew what it was trying to be. It has some puzzles that are more complex than Portal but also has Nick Jr levels of narration. I think this proved that Valve's razor is able to instill a kind of magic into a game that this game is sadly lacking.

Quick thoughts: Unique puzzle game, Some cool puzzles to many dexterity puzzles for my liking the story is pretty lack luster and many times I felt frustrated because I knew the solution but was having to attempt the real life dex check. If you have played EVERY other first person puzzle game then this one is by no means terrible but its not where you should look first, second or even third in my opinion.

This is honestly the best game I have ever played in my entire life. A couple buddies and I used to have LAN parties back in my college days with this game. Ooooh the memories. I remember my friend Dave spitting out Dr. Pepper onto his screen during one of the segments. I won't tell you which one, that would ruin the surprise ;). Dave and I lost touch after graduation, I hope he's doing well. What I'd do to turn back the hands of time back to those days. Grab a couple pops from the corner store down on Hickory Drive. Sit back and play some good ol' Quantum Conundrum with the buddies.

10/10. Metroid-vania, FPS type game. Worth full price.

Good game, good story. Puzzles are amazing. And the narrator is great.
This cartoon-ish style is just my type.

TL;DR: Decent puzzles don't stop it from being a boring Portal clone.

Kim Swift is rightly lauded for her work on Portal; but with Quantum Conundrum, it feels like she and the rest of the development team just phoned it in. AAA, this ain't.

On the plus side:
- Decent cartoon visuals (if you don't look too closely) that include a few clever gags.
- Clever physics puzzles that are reminiscent of those in Portal but feature different mechanics.

On the minus side:
- Those cartoon visuals start repeating veeeeery quickly.
- The overall idea is pretty much cookie cutter Portal: a zany and insane authority figure/disembodied voice directs a hapless protagonist through a range of physics puzzles separated into different chambers. Story is delivered through the Voice's monologues as you go through the puzzles, and possibly through environmental cues later on--I got tired of playing long before that ever happened.
- The puzzle chambers are separated by loooong stretches of meandering corridors and stairs that serve no game purpose other than transport. A golden opportunity for further story development was wasted here. You don't want your players wandering through emptiness long enough to realize that they've stopped playing the game. And if your visuals keep repeating during that time, well, boooooring.
- The Voice isn't half as funny as the game creators seem to think he is. The zany, entertainingly callous humor was pitch-perfect with Cave Johnson; with the Inventor, it seems clear that someone thought they could duplicate that success by, well, duplicating it. Except they used a ditto machine rather than a high-quality modern photo printer.

The closest comparison I could draw to Quantum Conundrum would be to the Portal series, but to leave it at that wouldn’t do Quantum Conundrum justice. It is from a lead designer of the original Portal, but it’s not really trying to be a spiritual successor, it doesn’t even have Portal’s titular portals. Quantum Conundrum’s mechanic is switching between ‘dimensions’, those being heavy metal dimension, light fluffy dimension, reversed gravity dimension, and slow-motion dimension. There is a similarity in the formula Quantum Conundrum and Portal both follow, being the lone individual in an unoccupied environment, with your only companionship being a narrative voice giving you advice and saying occasionally funny things, while using an experimental scientific invention to clear puzzle room after puzzle room most of which involve box-shaped objects. However, Quantum Conundrum definitely has the feel of not having had the significant backing Portal had, it distinctly lacks a level of polish. The environments feel a little too big and baren, some environment assets are noticeably overused, and sometimes it’s just a little janky at times. But while it’s not polished to a shine, it does have a lot of heart, and if Portal 1, Portal 2, and Portal Reloaded have left you wanting something similar enough that you can feel the connection while having an entirely different core mechanic, then Quantum Conundrum can scratch that itch.

I went into this expecting a game similar to Portal. Although it keeps a similar structure, with individual chambers filled with common items and devices, it managed to be its own thing, having a different feel to it.

In particular, it wasn't as difficult as Portal. This had a much larger focus on platforming. For me, the hardest parts of the game were attempting to make challenging jumps, rather than thinking of the solutions to the puzzles. After my first hour, I was surprised that I had yet to be thrown any difficult chambers. Not that I felt I needed them, but the professor is quick to provide hints too. There were some puzzles that entirely focused on physics as well, so it was a lot of trial and error until you managed them.

A big problem was that it seemed like there are only a few core puzzle elements. Chambers often rehashed these core ones, only really changing the overall layout, the amount of times you needed to do them, or to do them in a set timeframe.

Despite that, I was interested in following along with the game's story and John de Lancie provides a fantastic voice for the Professor. It wasn't as interesting as Portal's story, but it was enough to keep me going. However, the game's ending was quite abrupt and lacklustre. It was a disappointment.

The game’s set within an impossibly large manor. Although unique, it quickly becomes stale. Levels comprise of very noticeable prefabricated set pieces that gradually become dull to see. The book titles were well done though, being science puns of real books. The paintings could be funny when changing dimensions but like everything else, you see eventually them repeated so many times.

Overall, it was enjoyable, but easy mostly, with the really tough parts being the game's platforming. For a casual experience, it was fine but for anyone looking for more of a brainteaser, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Summed up: A good alternative to the Portal games, but do not go in expecting Portal-like quality.
Rating: 7/10 stars!

Base game:

Pros - Innovative gameplay mechanics never done before. Unique even to Portal
- Unique charm that makes the game enjoyable
- Cleverly designed levels and puzzles that utilize all the different dimensions available
- Challenging enough without be too difficult
- Satisfying puzzle completion
- Decent characters

Cons:
- (conflicting with previous point) more needs to be put into character for it to more iconic
- Rather forgettable game/characters in general. Nothing sticks out.
- DLC is absolutely terrible. It's only level packs with 0 interaction with existing characters.
- THE ENDING IS RATHER meh.

In conclusion.
Go get it if you're a fan of Portal and puzzle games in general. It's definitely worth a play and will keep you hooked until you're done. But don't go in expecting a Portal-clone.

Quantum Conundrum is an unusual game, with laborious puzzles and with a steady dose of humour, remaining an aesthetic experience for those who desire something relaxed.

The puzzles proposed in the mansion will require your logical abilities to decipher them. It effectively managed its growing pace of complexity, despite some technical flaws. The learning curve is so well outlined that the players feel rewarded at all times.

I was having a good time, until i started to reach levels that required a ridiculous timing. I don't mind difficulty, but requiring super meat boy skills in a puzzle game is not the reason why i play a puzzle game. The uncle talks alone, which is fun in the beginning, but dries out very quickly. And knowing how old this game is, and how good my computer is supposed to be, i do not understand why the frame rate drops to 10 in the loading corridors.
I was hoping a lot from Quantum Conundrum, but i was only served in the first few levels. I do not see myself coming back to it.

Fun portal2-like game with interesting physics puzzles. Instead of having a portal gun, your character is equipped with a glove that allows you to change the weight of an object, slow time, or change gravity. Puzzles are pretty straightforward and I had encountered 3 or 4 that were challenging. Fun, short, physics-puzzle game. 7/10; wish more of the puzzles would incorporate all 4 of the glove powers.

A puzzle game that leans heavily on the Portal series for inspiration and design, but clearly seeks to cater to a younger audience with its aesthetics, interdimensional fuzzballs and narration.
The game introduces its own set of mechanics, which revolve around matter and time manipulation.
Despite some frustratingly difficult platforming/timing levels towards the end the difficulty is overall rather low, with most puzzles solved in a matter of minutes at most.

I eventually decided to quit trying the same 'couch surfing' level over and over again after dying 30 times to it. Nevertheless I've enjoyed the few hours I got out of the game up until that point.

I have played this game for nearly 23 hours and I have 100% the achievements. On that merit alone, I feel qualified to give a review. As an avid fan of puzzle games and platform games, Quantum Conundrum was perfect for me. Furthermore, the puzzles were pleasant. Some people complained that it was too simple and railroady, but the mechanics were novel enough to be intriguing. However, if you are going for the time or shift challenges, the game can get some what frustrating as the physics of the objects sometimes screw you over. This is especially true for the DLC, which aren't even DLC, just level packs. Oh and also John de Lancie's sultry voice over as the uncle pushes this game into the recommended territory.

This game was fun for about a few hours but got extremely tedious due to horrible platforming mechanics and wonky physics getting in the way of solving actual puzzles. Most puzzles can be solved on the first attempt, but are ruined by not knowing where you're landing after a large jump or just simply because a chair flopped the wrong way and didn't shield you from a laserbeam... randomly. Then when you recreate the entire puzzle solution it works just fine.

Honestly, this game makes me just want to play Portal again because it's so much better. This is the cheaper, more tedious and boring knockoff.

This game is trash compared to other puzzle/physics games. Gets boring quickly and feels more like a chore then having fun and feeling accomplished for solving something. If you want good puzzle/physics games get these instead... Portal, Portal 2, Braid, Osmos, World of Goo. Then for adventure puzzle games, Puzzle Agent 1 and 2 are recommended.

This game isn't bad, but it isn't particularly good in any way either. The platforming was a bit too difficult, and the puzzles were a bit too easy. (you might enjoy this game if you, unlike me, enjoy platform games in general) The story was pretty simple and boring. The world was not fun to explore, even though I found all the collectible things. The only parts that I sort of enjoyed were the narration and death messages.

Cheap disregard of its own physics whenever it suits the puzzles. E.g. you can stand on / jump off from some solid objects but not others. Crates from the Robofaces pass through some objects if the level could be solved this way. It's just not fun to come up with several working solutions and then having to find out which the developers deemed the only acceptable one.

When there are a 1000 unique death messages you know you will have to replay many levels again and again. Painstaking and pixel perfect plays. Many useless corridors with useless information. Many 'jokes' and you will hear them again and again, because if you die, he will tell it again and again.

Could have been a great game, but too much around it that makes it super annoying :(

You should definitely try this game out if you like the Portal series! Obviously, it's not on the same level of polish but the game is enjoyable enough, especially the humor. It's around 6 hours long without DLCs.

The gameplay consists of physics based puzzles and platforming. Most puzzles aren't difficult and they're satisfying to solve. The gameplay does have quite a bit of platforming so be prepared for that. I started playing on a controller but I quickly changed to mouse and keyboard because platforming requires a decent amount of precision.

There are a couple of hair pulling sections where you will die a lot altough they're not that common. Good thing is the checkpoint system is lenient and you will get right back where you started. A little hint if you decide to play: in-game portraits change in every dimension so check them out.

As other reviews have mentioned, the game comes down to timing moreso than brain power (which I'd say Portal does). If you are able to have the patience to do timing type puzzles, it's quite fun. Love the wit of the narrator

I really liked the time and shift challenges. I know DLC challeges are considered the hardest. But by the time I reached there, I had become so used to the gameplay mechanics that it took me less than 5 tries to get the goals in dlc levels. Infact, it took me more tries in the base levels which are considered easier. My only gripe with this game is that they botched the ending in order to justify a sequel. So this is an incomplete story but with great gameplay and puzzles.

A great puzzle game by one of the great minds behind the Portal franchise. The levels can be challenging but are not frustrating. The humor is enjoyable and not cringy. The Professor is an enjoyable companion to the player as well. Polished gameplay, graphics, and soundtrack is spot on.

The main downside are the DLCs. Both DLCs have levels that are way too long and that rely way too much on luck instead of actual puzzle solving skills.

Base game: 9/10
DLCs: 2/10

It definitely has the Portal feel, but the game lost me when it turned into a pseudo platformer, where i had to time jumps and aim landings. In some games, that would be OK, but here, the controls and camera are so primitive (for that type of game) that it just doesn't work. I've spent way more time trying to time jumps more than actually solving puzzles.

It's a shame I can't recommend it because it's not a bad game, but it is not very compelling to play. The idea is neat, but the game just doesn't really feel right. It reeks overwhelmingly of Portal, but with half of the charm. Something about this game just doesn't hit exactly right and makes the game just feel a bit empty, which is a real shame.

Pretty puzzle game. Maybe not the hardest challenge, but for sure entertaining.

The puzzles are fairly decent, though quite easy, with the vast majority of them are about fiddling with jumping or getting objects to go to where they need to go rather than actually making you think.

The story was forgettable, with a narrator that quickly got annoying and served only to annoy me and make me cringe during my playthrough.

I didn't have any trouble with any of the puzzles (aside from occasional physics nonsense), but I just really wanted to stop playing after reaching a certain point. Guess I'll go play some other 3D puzzle game. You know which one.

From start to finish I had a lot of fun with this game. It's a well-polished first person puzzle game that you might enjoy if you're a fan of Portal. There were a few sections that required some good platforming and timing skills, so this may not be a very accessible game for some people.

It's a lot of fun, game style reminds me of portal. The narrator, if he sounds familiar, is the voice of Q from Star Trek TNG.

Overall, great games. Takes som 6 hours to finish, with the collectibles and such excluded. ALthough the ending is kinda bad, and the story just above meh, the mechanics definatily make up for it. Would recommend.

An interesting concept, but poor execution. Wonderful choice of voice actor, poor utilization of said choice. Interesting art style in a terribly bland location. A game that requires precise movements and accurate jumps with loose, floaty controls. All in all, a solid 6/10. For every positive, there's an equal and opposite negative.
