Resident Evil 2 führte Charaktere ein, die mittlerweile zu Capcoms beliebtesten und ikonischsten Helden gehören: den jungen Polizisten Leon S. Kennedy und die Studentin Claire Redfield, die beide während eines desaströsen Ausbruchs in Raccoon City zueinanderfinden. Die Bevölkerung der Stadt verwandelt sich in blutrünstige Zombies. Leon und Claire müssen zusammenarbeiten, um ihr Überleben zu sichern und die Hintergründe hinter den Angst einflößenden Vorkommnissen aufzudecken. Leon und Claire haben ihre eigenen, separat spielbaren Kampagnen, so dass Spieler das Geschehen aus der Perspektive beider Charaktere verfolgen.

Zwanzig Jahre später kehrt der Horror aus Resident Evil 2 zurück – Spieler tauchen so tief wie noch nie ins Geschehen ein, vergleichbar mit der Immersion des im letzten Jahr umjubelten Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Capcoms proprietäre RE Engine bringt einen fotorealistischen Grafikstil ins Spiel, die Charaktere erscheinen schärfer denn je, und die Zombiehorden werden mit einem beängstigend realistischen Wet-Gore-Effekt zum Leben erweckt. Zombies agieren nun in Echtzeit und nehmen sichtbaren Schaden. Jede Patrone des Spielers zählt. Beeindruckende Effekte lassen auch bekannte Räume und Korridore des Raccoon City Police Departments in einem ganz neuen Licht erscheinen. Spieler fühlen sich, als steckten sie in Leons und Claires Schuhen – jeder Schritt heraus aus dem Licht bringt tödliche, Fleisch fressende Gefahren mit sich.

Resident Evil 2, erstmals veröffentlicht im Jahre 1998 und eines der kultigsten Spiele aller Zeiten, kehrt in komplett neuer Kleidung auf die Bildschirme zurück.

Erlebe individuelle Kampagnen für Spieler 1 und Spieler 2 aus der neuen „3rd Person“-Kameraansicht, während du die von Zombies verseuchten Gebiete in Raccoon City erkundest. Das Spiel wurde mit Capcoms interner RE Engine in voller Pracht wiederaufgebaut. Ein sehr gutes Resident Evil. Das Spiel ist sehr atmosphärisch und der Horror wird durch die knappe Munition noch verstärkt, da man dadurch nicht jeden Gegner besiegen kann und sich deswegen gut überlegen muss, wofür man seine Munition verwendet. Die Rätsel besitzen ebenfalls eine gute Schwierigkeit und manchmal dauert es etwas bis man auf die Lösung kommt. Nur zu empfehlen.

Resident Evil 2 ist für mich pers. eines der besten Resi Games ever.
Das Beste ist halt, man kann gleich zwei Charaktere zocken und somit die Story von Leon und Claire spielen.
Die Story Abläufe sind fast die selben, allerdings ändert sich das Spiel ein wenig, wenn man es zum zweiten mal durchspielt.
Nicht nur die Rätsel ändern sich ein wenig, sondern auch wann und wo der Tyrant auftaucht.
Resi 2 ist ebenfalls auch noch sehr auf Horror spezialisiert, was ein gutes Resi Spiel auch ausmacht.
Die Kulisse ist auch sehr gut umgesetzt worden in dem Remake, besser hätte man es nicht machen können.

Jedenfalls ist dieses Resi Game, auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung Wert. Denn das Spiel bietet jeden Resi Horror Fan das, was man haben möchte.
Schaut euch allerdings um euch wirklich zu 100% abzusichern, am besten 1-2 Videos dazu an, aber ich kann euch jetzt schon sagen, dass dieses Spiel jeden Cent Wert ist.

Alter, ich hab 53 Stunden also ja. Ich war sonst kein wirklicher Resident Evil Fan und dieses Spiel hat mein Interesse geweckt. Also Grafik ist verdammt gut, sowie Atmosphäre, Musik, man ist angespannt vor allem wenn man das erste Mal spielt. Du musst nachdenken, solltest nicht zu viel Inventarplatz verschwenden, du musst auch öfter Mal in Zonen zurück wo du schon warst. Es macht echt Spaß, die Bosskämpfe können richtig anstrengend sein. Definitiv empfohlen.

Resident Evil 2 Remake ist ein Paradebeispiel, für wie man ein Spiel richtig remaked.
Es verbessert nicht nur jeden einzelnen Aspekt des Originalen RE 2, sondern fügt auch noch eine Menge tollen Content hinzu.
RE 2 Remake gehört für mich ganz klar zu den Top 3 Resident Evil Spiele überhaupt und ist ganz klassischer Survival Horror, so wie er am besten ist.

Positiv:

- Perfektes Remake des originalen Klassikers
- Tolle Horror Atmosphäre
- Malerische Grafik
- Butterweiche Animationen
- Interessante Story
- Man kann Monster verstümmeln, z.b. die Beine abschießen, weswegen die Monster dann am Boden verzweifelt rum krabbeln
- Gunplay macht eine menge Spaß
- Erstaunliche Detailverliebtheit der Entwickler
- Viele Waffen mit oftmals eigenen Aufsätzen, wodurch die Waffen nochmal stark verändert werden
- Die unterschiedlichen Schauplätze sehen alle toll aus und sind teilweise riesig, und es gibt überall eine Menge zu entdecken
- Perfekte Controller und Tastatur/Maus Steuerung
- Perfekte Kamera
- Rätsel und Puzzles sind Old School und passen perfekt in die allgemeine Atmosphäre des Spieles
- Super Optimierung
- Exzellente Map
- Wundervolles Audiodesign
- Atmosphärische Musik
- Viele Gegnertypen
- Alle Items sind im Inventar genauer anguckbar, wodurch man kleinere, als auch größere Details aufdeckt

- Sehr gerechter Preis
- Mehrere unterschiedliche Schwierigkeitsgrade, unter anderem auch der Veteran Modus, bei dem man nur mit Farbbändern speichern kann
- Es gibt zwei verschiedene Protagonisten, mit jeweils unterschiedlichen Storylines
- Die mit Abstand besten Zombies in einem Videospiel, vom Aussehen und vom Gruselfaktor
- Mehrere separate Zusatzmodis
- Überzeugende deutsche Vertonung
- Sehr schnelle Ladezeiten
- Es gibt sehr viele Dokumente zum Lesen, die überall im Spiel verteilt sind
- Ein paar gute Jumpscares
- Gute HDR-Implementation
- Viele Errungenschaften

Negativ:

- Mr. X war die ersten 20 Minuten gruselig und verstörend, nach jedoch länger als 20 Minuten, wurde er unglaublich nervig und ich konnte mich wegen ihm nicht mehr aufs Puzzle lösen und erkunden konzentrieren
- Die Bossfights sind unkreativ und langweilig
- Dialoge sind manchmal ein wenig stumpf und unprofessionell
- Die Grafikeinstellung Screen Space Reflections funktioniert nicht richtig und lässt viele Bereiche rauschend und verpixelt aussehen, man kann die Einstellung jedoch einfach ausstellen
- Saveslots sind nicht löschbar

Fazit

Wundervolles Spiel und eines der besten Remakes überhaupt.
Capcom hat die letzten Jahre wirklich konstant geniale Resident Evils abgeliefert und beweist immer wieder aufs neue, dass die Reihe noch lange nicht tot ist.
Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung, besonders für jeden Fan von richtigem Horror

Hello... im writting this on the typewriter in the Lobby... I got little time, i can hear them again...
The Game itself looks beautifull and it got an amazing atmosphere. I personally recommend playing this game on Hardcore, since it makes you suffer allot more and gives you way more pressure. Nearly the entire time of the game i was stressed and in fear... The riddles in the game are just about right, not to hard tho i really lost my mind in one of them. The replay value of the game is like in resident evil 1 extremely high, since you can play another character that walks a diffrent way through the game! Also if you wanna play the same char again, the second run will be diffrent too!
This is a little rule for every residentevil game i played so far, you dont need to look at it:
[spoiler] If anything in this game goes down and is not missing its head, burned to ash, dissolved in acid, beeing entirely smashed into monster mash or exploded, you are most likely to see it again... [/spoiler]

Müsste man als Entwicklerteam, einen Liebesbrief an ein gute Spiel der 90er Jahre verfassen, damit es wieder auf lange Zeit den Modernen Standards entspricht und selbst neue setzt, Resident Evil 2 Remake währe dieser Brief.
Grafisch und vor allem Sound Technisch muss sich das Spiel nicht vor aktuellen Titeln verstecken, alles sieht wundervoll aus und sollte man über Entsprechende Kopfhörer oder Lautsprecher mit Raumklang verfügen, dann wird das Aufspüren von Feinden zu einem echten Erlebnis.

Besonders ab dem Zeitpunkt, an dem einem Mr X in all seiner Pracht hinterher stampft fällt der extrem gute Sound besonders auf. Da seine KI im Vergleich zu anderen Monstern in Spielen wie etwa Alien Isolation weit weniger auf Gummiband getrimmt wurde, sind die Entfernungen und Routen die er in deiner nähe ab läuft exakt bestimmbar und man kann mit genug ruhe einen weiten Bogen um ihn herum machen.

Es sind lediglich einige wenige feste Triggerpunkte vorhanden, an denen er einem immer über den Weg läuft, selbst wenn man sich extrem leise bewegt und jegliches Gefecht vermeidet, abseits dessen dreht er extrem weite Runden und es kommt mehr als einmal vor, das man ihn in der Ferne durch eine Tür verschwinden sieht, oder ihm eine Etage unter dir beim suchen beobachten kann, er besitzt zwar wie gesagt eine extrem milde Form von Gummiband KI doch diese fällt einem nahezu nie bis auf 2-4 Gelegenheit als Aufgesetzt oder Erzwungen auf.
Neben Mr X sind auch die anderen Monster eine Erwähnung wert, hier gibt es zwar im Vergleich zum Original eine kleinere Auswahl, aber zumindest was die Krähen betrifft kann man froh sein das etwas weg gespart wurde. Die Zombies sind in ihrem wankenden Gang wunderbar schwer zu treffen und trotz ihrer im vergleich zum Original geringen Anzahl ist ihr unberechenbares Verhalten auf kurze Distanz herrlich unvorhersehbar und man sollte sie nach Möglichkeit auf Distanz halten. Mit Distanz sollte man auch bei den Lickern arbeiten, den diese Schlitzen einem bereits auf der normalen Schwierigkeit mit nur einem Sprungangriff die hälfte des Lebens weg, mit etwas ruhe kann man diese aber wunderbar umgehen und einiges an Munition sparen, lediglich wenn einem Mister X auf den Versen ist könnte sich ein Lebender Licker als Problem heraus stellen.

Kommen wir nun jedoch zu Birkin, dieser wurde wundervoll in die Neuauflage ein gebaut und erinnerte mich beim ersten Spielen einmal mehr daran, wieso er seit dem Original meine unangefochtene Nummer 1 unter den BOW's ist. Er ist Bedrohlich, abwechslungsreich und besonders auf der höchsten Stufe der Inbegriff von Folter, sollte man versuchen ihm mit weniger als den dicksten Geschützen und einer menge Heilung entgegen zu treten. Lediglich zum Ende hin ist es Enttäuschend wie schnell er zwischen den letzten Formen wieder auf taucht und Bekämpft werden muss da besonders im Original die längeren Pausen zwischen seinem Erscheinen eine glaubhafte Gefahr mit ständiger Angst aufrecht erhalten haben, da man ihn besonders gegen ende bei der Wahl der Bewaffnung mit ein planen musste.

In diesem Remake zeigte Birkin das er zu recht der König der Monster ist, egal wie groß und übertrieben oft die Mutationen späterer BOW's auch ausgefallen sind, keines von ihnen kann G. Birkin in seiner Bedrohlichkeit das Wasser reichen.
Zum Spiel selbst kann man wirklich kaum ein schlechtes Wort verlieren, man hat viele Laufwege und auch einige größere Areale weg gespart um ein Moderneres Setting zu erschaffen, das nicht durch endlos langes Backtracking dominiert wird. Hier beisst sich leider auch meine Rationale Seite die es für gut Empfinden, mit der Nostalgischen Seite, da wiederum viele Ikonische Momente, wie Sherrys Spielbarer Abschnitt in der Kläranlage oder Mister X Verfolgungen im Stahlwerk vollkommen weg fallen. Leider zählt das neu hinzu gekommene Weisenhaus ebenfalls zu den wenigen, aber existierenden Minuspunkten da man sich weit mehr erhofft hatte als letzten Endes im Spiel gelandet ist, besonders wenn man die Artworks zu dem sieht was man eigentlich geplant hatte fällt die enttäuscht doch größer aus.
Das Remasterd von Resident Evil 1 zeigte eindrucksvoll wie viel man aus neu Hinzu gefügten Arealen wirklich machen konnte, vor allem dann wenn damit auch neue Gegnertypen wie Lisa Trevor oder die Crimsonheads eingefügt wurden. im Remake zu Teil 2 gibt es vergleichsweise weniger Staunen da abseits des Weisenhauses nicht viel zusätzlich neues an Erkundbarem hinzu gefügt wurde und lediglich die Neuinterpretation der Ivy's eine echte Überraschung darstellte. Das alles ist nun zwar Meckern auf hohem Level doch es ist nur Fair es zu erwähnen anstatt das Spiel als rundum Perfekt zu betiteln.
Weitaus Enttäuschender fiel für mich als Kenner des Originals folgendes auf, was man wirklich nicht entschuldigen darf, die Szenarien, so wohl auch Leon und Claires Story an sich sind viel zu gleich. Während man im Vorbild noch über dinge stolperte die man mit der anderen Figur ausgelöst oder gemeistert hatte, gab es auch noch einzigartige Ereignisse und Probleme mit denen man sich abseits von Mister X herum schlagen musste.
Man läuft sich innerhalb des Remakes gerade einmal bei einer einzigen Gelegenheit über den weg und hat ansonsten nur in zwei Cutscenes miteinander zu tun, während man im Original mehrfach auf den jeweils anderen gestoßen ist, was den gemeinsamen Überlebenskampf glaubwürdiger rüber brachte, als das konsequente aneinander vorbei rennen ohne jeglichen Impact auf den Weg des jeweils anderen.
Man merkt an beinahe jeder Ecke, das man die fähigeren Leute innerhalb der Resident Evil Entwicklungsabteilung auf dieses Remake los gelassen hatte, besonders bei den Bewegungen, die Inventar Verwaltung und der vereinfachten Steuerung fällt positiv auf, das man die Macher von Revelation 2 ran gelassen hat. Besonders wenn man zuvor Revelation 2 zu vor einmal gespielt hatte wird man sich Blind mit der Steuerung zu recht finden und hat ein Vertrautes Gefühl das ohne alberne Extras wie Action Moves und QTE's aus kommt.

Hier wurden die gute Spielbarkeit von Revelation 2, das freie Kombinieren und Erstellen von Munition aus dem Originalen Resi 3 und die Selbstverteidigungsitems von RE Remastered perfekt vermischt und sinnvoll umgesetzt.
In diesem Remake hätte man sich wirklich gerne mehr an Umgebung und Inhalt des Originals gewünscht, weil es Freude bereitet in dieser Modernisierten Version eines Meilensteines um sein Überleben zu kämpfen. Bei dem Direkten Nachfolger der ebenfalls als Remake erschien fragt man sich jedoch im Gegenzug, mit welcher faulen Entschuldigung man 70 Prozent des Spiels weg gelassen hatte, nach dem man sich bereits ins gemachte Nest setzte und nur auf dem auf bauen musste, was die fähigen Leute aus dem RE2 Remake bereits erschaffen hatten.

Bei RE 2 glaube ich ohne Diskussionen, das den Machern lediglich die Zeit und das Geld gefehlt hatte, um ein Remake zu erschaffen, das sogar noch das RE Remastered vom zusätzlichen Inhalt, neben der guten Modernisierung überflügelt hätte.Bei RE 3 hingegen kam man mit keiner Ausrede darüber hinweg täuschen wie egal es Capcom gewesen ist was am Ende heraus kommt so lange man es nur als Vollpreistitel raus hauen konnte obwohl es sich im Kern um kaum mehr gehandelt hat als ein Add-on zum RE2 Remake.
Unterm Strich lässt sich wirklich nur eines sagen, dieses Remake schafft es Neueinsteiger und Veteranen zu überzeugen und gehört in die Sammlung von jedem der sich für Survival Horror interessieren kann. In diesem Spiel steckt so viel Liebe und ernsthaftes Interesse es gut zu machen das es einem schon Körperliche Schmerzen bereitet wenn man sieht auf welchen faulen Pfaden Capcom inzwischen wieder wandelt nur weil man sich auf den Lorbeeren aus ruht die dieses Remake zu recht verdient hat.

Super Spiel! Tolle Grafik, Story, Atmosphäre, einfache Controllersteuerung. Hat Spaß gemacht es komplett durch zu spielen und habe nicht einmal die Motivation dabei verloren. Genauso muss das sein ;-)

das spiel ist zwar nicht mehr so gut wie damals aber trozdem noch immer meine legende eines resident evil spiels der kauf des alten sound track swaps hat sich auch sowas von gelohnt auch wen ich jetzt die meiste zeit in den save rooms rumstehe und mir die musik gebe xD

Sehr sehr cooles Spiel. Grafik, Gameplay und Story ist mega cool und der Horroreffekt zeigt sich mehr in abgefuckten Kreaturen, statt in Jumpscares und Musik. Wer also schon Evil Within mochte, wird hier auch ein absolut geiles Spiel finden. Bin gespannt auf den 3. Teil

Eines der besten Teile der Resident Evil Reihe und des Horror-Franchises regulär. Die Story in dem Teil ist einfach, die Charaktere wenig interessant dargestellt, die Grafik eine Augenweide, die Atmosphäre unglaublich gut und das Waffenarsenal simpel gehalten, was auch gut so ist. Die Gegner sind in wie in jedem Teil einzigartig und wunderschön.

Dieses Remake fängt den Geist des Originals zwar ein, aber fühlt sich dennoch wie ein komplett neues Spiel an.

Auf jeden Fall eines meiner Lieblingsspiele und extrem empfehlenswert!

Einfach klasse gemacht, richtig gruselige Stimmung, Action im richtigen Maß und ein Paar Rätseleien die zugegebener maßen etwas kniffliger hätten sein können.
Nach den beiden Durchläufen der zwei Protagonisten (sollte man unbedingt machen!) um das richtige Ende zu sehen, fühlt es sich jedoch immer noch zu kurz an ^^ Hab einfach mega Lust auf mehr davon.
Seit RE:7 hat mich kein Spiel mehr so gefesselt und ist sein Geld alle mal Wert.

Das Remake zu einen Klassiker des Survival-Horror ist ein wirklich gutes und spaßiges Spiel, dass nur leider als Remake in bestimmten Punkten verzagt.

Jedem dem das alte RE2 wegen der Panzersteuerung und der festen Kamera zu schwer bzw. unzugänglich war, kann hier aber sorglos zugreifen.
Für Kenner des Originals ist anzumerken dass die Durchlaufe (Scenarios) leider recht stümperhaft umgesetzt und Inhalte geschnitten würden.

Das Remake von Resident Evil 2 ist ein sehr atmosphärisches, ruhiges und abwechslungsreiches Horror Adventure. Jedoch mit angemessener USK 18 freigabe. Die beeindruckende Grafikqualität trägt stark zur Atmosphäre und zum Gewaltgrad des Spieles bei. Wer mit der Kombination aus Horror, Splatter, Rätseleinlagen und Inventar Management was anfangen kann bekommt von mir eine uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung. Viel Spaß!

The game is really great, I love it and I enjoyed it. You can bye it and enjoy it too. The game is a bit too short, but you can play it more and more times, and it have little minigames.
A really worthy remake.

Das Spiel ist wirklich toll, ich liebe es und ich genoss es. Kauft es ruhig und geniesst es. Das Spiel ist ein wenig zu kurz, aber es hat ein sehr hohes wiederspielwert. Beinhaltet miniszenarien.
Ein wirklich würdeger Remake.

Das Resident Evil 2 Remake war mein erstes Spiel dieser Reihe und ist nun auch der Auslöser dafür, dass ich weitere Teile spielen möchte. Die kostenlose Demo zu dem Spiel konnte mich anfangs nicht überzeugen, da man einfach ins Spielgeschehen geworfen wird und selbst zusehen muss, wie man zurechtkommt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren meine Gedanken zum Spiel sehr negativ, da man sich in einer Third-Person-Ansicht völlig belanglos durch unzählige Zombiehorden ballert und nebenbei Rätsel lösen muss.
Dennoch wollte ich das hochgelobte Spiel nicht fallen lassen, also habe ich es mir letztendlich gekauft und bis heute keine einzige Minute bereut.

Unsere Aufgaben
Es ist wahr, dass wir uns mit einem, der zwei wählbaren Charakteren, durch infizierte Lebewesen kämpfen und Rätsel lösen müssen. Das sind kurz gesagt, die essenziellen Aufgaben die wir in diesem Spiel zu bewältigen haben. Die Spannung die einen durch das Spiel begleitet, ist aber so packend und angsterregend, dass man mit dem Charakter mitfiebert und dadurch mehr den Charme des Spiels erlebt.

Die Immersion wird durch die dauerhaft knappe Munition erhöht, weshalb man sich zweimal überlegen sollte, ob man den Zombie der vor einem steht tötet oder vielleicht einfach an ihm vorbeilaufen kann. Der Survival Horror entfaltet hier seine volle Stärke. Nicht gerade selten werden wir von Gegnern getroffen, wodurch sich unsere Laufgeschwindigkeit verändert und wir dem Tode näherstehen. Besitzen wir aber eine Granate, können wir diese zur Verteidigung einsetzen. Im Spiel kann man auch Heilmittel finden oder selbst welche herstellen, sammelbare Bücher erklären einem die unterschiedlichen Heilkräuter. Sowohl unsere Munition als auch Upgrades für die Waffen müssen in der Spielwelt gefunden werden. Da das aber noch zu einfach wäre, sind unsere Inventarplätze ebenfalls stark begrenzt, weshalb man sich immer entscheiden muss, welche Ressourcen man mit sich tragen möchte. Neben den normalen Gegnern erwarten uns auch einige epische Bosskämpfe, die uns einiges an Können abverlangen. Die Charaktere haben alle eine eigene Story und andere Absichten, was das Spiel noch deutlich umfangreicher und interessanter gestaltet.

Die Rätsel sind dem originalen Resident Evil 2 vermutlich sehr treu geblieben, da sie meist ein sehr einfaches Prinzip aufweisen. Knacke die Tresorschlösser, klicke die Lichter in der richtigen Reihenfolge an oder wähle drei Symbole aus, um die Belohnung zu erhalten. Trotz der vermeintlich simplen Rätsel, müssen wir lange Wege im Spiel gehen, bis wir die Lösungen finden. Die Rätsel passen aber super ins Spiel, da sie den Spieler neben dem Kämpfen immer wieder vor kleine Herausforderungen stellen. Auch die Objekte an denen wir die Aufgaben durchführen, sind nicht willkürlich platziert worden, so löst man beispielsweise mehrere Aufgaben an Statuen oder Tresoren, die es in einem alten Museum durchaus gibt. Es ist außerdem ein schönes Gefühl, wenn man bei seiner langen Suche einen Schlüssel gefunden hat, womit man endlich die letzte Tür öffnen kann und sich dahinter sogar ein Shortcut befindet.

Horror
Das Spiel setzt besonders in den ersten Stunden auf einen hohen Anteil an Gore. Im späteren Spielverlauf ist es eine intensive und bedrückte Stimmung, da man ständig die dumpfen Schritte eines mächtigen Antagonisten durch das Anwesen hört. Rennt man durch die Gegend, hört er einen ebenfalls und lauert schon bald vor der nächsten Tür.
In der Zwickmühle befinden wir uns aber, wenn wir in einem Raum voller Zombies sind und keine Munition mehr haben. Rennen wir nun weg oder versuchen wir uns leise und unauffällig zu entfernen und riskieren damit unser Leben?
Es gibt aber auch äußerst starke Gegner, die zudem sehr geräuschempfindlich sind.
Was machen wir, wenn wir uns mit diesen Gegnern und drei infizierten Menschen in einem Raum befinden?

Da wir nur an festgelegten Punkten selbst speichern können, sind die Fragen nicht gerade leicht zu beantworten. Die bedrückende Melodie im Hintergrund trägt zur beängstigenden Stimmung bei und auch das Brüllen unserer Gegner lässt uns in der Not noch schneller davonrennen.

In Resident Evil 2 laufen wir durch verschiedene Gebiete. Je nachdem welchen Charakter wir ausgewählt haben, ändern sich auch einige Orte. Ein Grund mehr, um das Spiel mindestens zweimal zu spielen.

Erstaunlich schön
Ich muss die Entwickler auch für ihre Grafik loben, da sie wirklich schön und realistisch aussieht. Man erkennt sehr viele Details an den Figuren. Es ist wirklich schön zu sehen, dass man sich bei diesem Remake so viel Mühe gegeben hat. Viele Spiele haben das Problem, dass sie die Mimik der Charaktere nicht einwandfrei darstellen können, in diesem Spiel hatte ich nie das Gefühl, dass mir eine Reaktion unrealistisch erschien. Es macht wirklich sehr viel Spaß, sich in einer ruhigen Minute die wunderschöne Stadt namens Raccoon City anzusehen. Dazu gehören auch die Gebäude und die darin befindlichen Gegenstände, die sehr glaubwürdig und hochauflösend aussehen.

Einen kleinen Kritikpunkt habe ich zur Grafik aber trotzdem, und zwar sehen manche Schatten im Gesicht der Charaktere trotz den höchsten Schatteneinstellungen sehr körnig aus.

Fazit
Das Remake von Resident Evil 2 verkörpert alte Eigenschaften mit neuen Grafik- und Gameplayelementen. Ich bin wirklich begeistert von diesem Spiel und auch nach dem zweiten Durchgang habe ich mich noch nicht satt gesehen. Wer gegen Horrorelemente in einem Videospiel nichts hat, sollte sich dieses Spiel unbedingt einmal ansehen. Auch für mich war es das erste Resident Evil Spiel und wird mit Sicherheit auch nicht das letzte gewesen sein. Ich hätte niemals gedacht, dass mich dieses Spiel so mitreißt.

Ich habe in den letzten Tagen in der Reihenfolge die Resi-Reihe durchgespielt:
Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 7 und eben den zweiten Durchlauf Resident Evil 2 abgeschlossen.

Mir persönlich hat der zweite Teil am besten Gefallen. Die Rätsel und Atmosphäre im Police Department finde ich überwältigend gut. Der siebte Teil braucht sich hierbei nicht zu verstecken, aber ich finde den siebten deutlich gruseliger, für meinen Geschmack fast schon zu gruselig.
Der dritte Teil kann zu den beiden anderen Spielen leider in keinem Punkt mithalten.
Für mich eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Super Spiel!

Ich habe mich sehr auf das Game gefreut. Und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Als alter RE Hase war ich sehr gespannt, wie das Remake gemacht worden ist. Und, sie haben es gut gemacht. Also jeder, der den alten bzw. ersten .2 Teil kennt, wird hier seine Freunde haben. Langer Spielspaß, gute Kämpfe, eben das, was RE ausmacht. Für jeden Fan ein MUSS!

Played it on PS4 and on PC now. This game is just awesome. It has some usability flaws, especially the fact you cannot replace items in a full inventory, by the one currently trying to pick up, but the immersion is just so superb. Scared the shit out of me in some moments. The last games, that could do this to me were Dead Space 1 and 2.

Ich mag die Atmosphäre des Spiels sowie das leicht entschleunigte Gameplay. In engeren Passagen werden die klassischen Zombies in Gruppen zu einem Problem, 2 bis 3 kann man mit genügend Munition noch gut davon kommen, wobei ich auch hier oftmals lieber ausgewichen bin, da die Zombies hier echt einiges aushalten. später bin ich dazu übergegangen ihnen die Kniescheiben wegzuböllern, dann waren sie noch langsamer als ohnehin schon. Neben den Normalo Zombies, gesellen sich auch Mutierte Viecher wie Licker welche Blind sind aber dafür ein sehr gutes Gehör haben (Gönnt euch A Quiet Place). Sowie Mutiertes Unkraut, Riesenkrokodile etc.

Die Story mit Leon als auch mit Claire hat laune gemacht, die englische Vertonung in Verbindung mit deutschen Untertiteln hat mir gut gefallen.

Die Survivor Missionen bocken auch bisher ziemlich rein. - Revidiere, die erste Survivor Mission mit der Dame hat mir spaß gemacht. Die restlichen sind nicht mein fall, zu viele Gegner zu wenig raum.

Mit Resident Evil 2 hat Capcom es wie niemand anderes zuvor verstanden, einen alten Klassiker nahezu perfekt in die Neuzeit zu versetzen. Mehr als bei einem bloßen Remake, überzeugt der Titel dabei mit allerlei Gameplay-Änderungen und sonstigen Anpassungen, ohne das zu zerstören, was das Original so außergewöhnlich als auch liebenswert gemacht hat. Selten habe ich mich in einem Remake so wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt wie hier. Survival Horror at it's finest.

The creators remained true to the original in its point, in the general impression. In the basics of game design, in other words. For example, the characters deliberately move relatively slowly again - so that you never feel safe that you can eventually take the rabbits. The atmosphere is as dense and heavy as storm clouds. The last ingredient that helps is the listening side of things. The creators did not hesitate and drew a complete arsenal of horror sounds. Various knocking, creaking, crackling of shutters, dripping, rustling and squeaking, all in one half-threshold concert composed with enough emotion to never allow you to completely relax.

This is a proper remake of a well remembered game. Resident Evil 2 is a remake of its original Playstation era game that modernizes the controls and shooting yet keeps itself rooted in survival horror. This isn't RE4 or 5, you will not have enough ammo and firepower to drop everything on its ass so its crucial to use sparingly. Even the knife is no longer infinite, and is apparently made of really sharp, slightly durable tin foil because after a few uses its busted beyond use or you could even lose it in a monster as an escape item with only one way to get it back by killing it. The writing and direction of the game follows very closely to the original, bringing back separate runs A and B with Leon and Claire. Overall, this is a solid modernized version of classic RE.

A very solid remake and a pleasant surprise from the AAA video game industry. Although the characters are slightly less recognisable compared to the original, the game is still a very high quality remake, that respects it's source material and mods.

It is sadly a very rare one off from the aforementioned AAA industry.

Easily my favorite RE game, its an amazing remake of the original game that pictured details of the original while reimagining lots of great new stuff, unlike RE3 remake. i finished the game a few times and every time i did i fell more in love with the game. i highly recommend this game, everything is great about it, from gameplay,boss fights to the atmosphere of Raccoon City, those dark cold streets filed with infected dogs and Zombies with the heavy rain and overruned Police Station with Lickers growling in the hallways and a Tyrant wondering around the station looking for you, and a lot more!

Well made story, good gameplay, what more could you ask for a typical Resident Evil game?
The bosses weren't as good as the other games in the franchise, but the game is overall good.
This is one of the few Resident Evil games I genuinely enjoyed!

I've got so addicted to playing this game over and over so I've done 6 runs(in full English, and 2 in full Japanese), all extra survivors, and even managed to finish Tofu, Konjac and Flan, was fun. I am not very good at resident evil games, since I don't actually remember all the item's locations and routes, though one particular run I've most proud of I've got 4 achievements for hardcore, hardcore s rank, frugalist(no healing items were used), and small carbon footprint (less than 14k steps).

I've got to say previous resident evil games I've played I wasn't enjoying as much as this, I've played resident evil 1 (remastered or remake, whatever), 7 and village.

This was my second Resident Evil game. After playing RE7, I decided I wanted to experience RE games taking place early in the timeline. After seeing this remake's incredible reviews, I decided to play it. I went in blind, and finished both Leon and Claire's scenarios, and now this is without doubt one of my favorite games ever. There is something about this game that makes the replayability very high. The gameplay is incredibly fun, the design is stunning, the soundtrack is also great. Like RE7, I don't think new players need to have any previous RE experience to fully enjoy it, considering how much me myself enjoyed it. 10/10, I'll play it again.

Capcom did a really good job in this Remake. The graphics are tremendous. The atmosphere draws you in very well. I can say that the tension in the game does not stop even for 1 second, Mr. X on your neck. Although the game takes place almost in one place, it doesn't get boring for a second. The story of 2 different characters is very good. I didn't like that it made me do the same things in the second part.

Resident Evil 2 will be the last game I play in a row, I think, until the RE4 remake of course :d

It says 6 hours but ive played RE 2 on PS4 on release and put loads of hours onto this game. Currently on a mission to own every Resident Evil game on my steam acc since i permanently switched over to PC. I highly recommend it besides RE 1 (RE 1 sits in 1st), this game sit on my top 2 favorite video game of all time. I love the remake and it basically has everything from the OG RE 2 and then more.

P.s
Dont even get me started with the mods on this game. At first it gets overwhelming cause you want to start installing every mod possible and before you know it you'll have play the game various times with different mods on each run. Its amazing and adds onto the life of the game.

RE2R is an incredible game. it's really awesome in graphics and gameplay but in terms of story is a bit shallow compared to original and sadly there are some details that have been missed or changed...

All in all RE2R is a great game by itself as an experience and it captures the scare like the original. I would have preferred a more faithful remake like RE1R though.

i never thought i would see myself playing a resident evil game i always thought they were shitty i don't know from where i got that but i can say it's the best zombie series ever made especially re 7 and re 2 remake they are amazing.
i just fell in love with this game the story the graghics the details everything is beyond amazing.

I have never liked horror games and puzzle games, so I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy RE2.
I was completely wrong, Resident Evil 2 Remake is absolutely amazing.
The graphics are great (especially the lighting), the gameplay feels smooth and enjoyable, the story is interesting.
As someones who never played a Resident Evil game before, I can tell you that this is a great way to experience it for the first time. I'm not gonna go into details, but trust me when I say RE2 is now one of my favorite games.

This is probably one of the best Resident Evil games ever made. Wether you're a fan of the saga or not this is perfect way to enter this set of games, the environment, the story and horror this game creates is something that wasn't seen for a long time.

Being this one of my favorite games and the first were I truly needed to complete everything that it has to offer, even after you complete the two stories you have a lot of content to do and the replayability is amazing! totally recommended.

dude, this is the scariest game iv played, not the Zombies not the Lickers and definitely not the Cerberus, u get the point, its the ((MF)) Mr. X him just following me, the sound (footsteps), and just him popping out of a door makes me poop myself. (100% worth it)

Now that i finished the game i will say that i F...... loved it, even if it is scary as in pooping urself.

I played both of the story's, i LOVED Leon's and claire's side of the story it's wonderfully made, no kidding.
u should play Leon's first then claire's story, basically because u don't get the different version of the game (if u play Clarie's story first u will basically play Leon's version of the game)

but other than that this is the best game of 2019 even do it's 2021.

I sadly had played the Resident Evil 3 Remake before playing this game and was slightly disappointed with the minor quality of life changes they added to RE3 in which this game simply didn't have (i.e. dodging). Don't let those differences take away from the awesome game the RE2 Remake is.
The game has a ton of replay-ability, offering things like:
-Three different difficulties.
-Four main storylines.
-A dozen stages of extra content.
-A bunch of achievements to offer goals to aim for.
I experienced no crashes and can't recall any bugs throughout my 58 hours of play time, which seems to be a rarity for games nowadays. It was also pretty fun aiming for 100% of the achievements in this game.

8.5/10- If you're looking for that survival-horror vibe that Resident Evil is known for, you won't be disappointed by this game in the slightest.

Same zombie gets up for the 4th time after I've already put 15 rounds of 9mm through his head.

There wouldn't be a head left after that many dome shots. What is the point of a gun if it does almost nothing?

While limited ammo is inherent to RE2, making every enemy into possibly a massive RNG-based bullet sponge on top of that is unforgivable. The point of rare ammo is to create a feeling of contrast. When you're flush with ammo you're supposed to be powerful and dominant... when you're low on ammo you are vulnerable and weak. This creates periods of tension interspersed with periods of revenge. Without the release of the revenge period the tension period loses any meaning and becomes mundane. Tension dissipates because every encounter becomes a quasi-puzzle game about exploiting the pathing and AI of the zombies to bypass them with minimal shooting... completely destroying the suspension of disbelief. There is no release of tension revenge period because most ammo types are so ineffectual and random you feel like an idiot for even bothering to try to kill anything.

If they wanted to make this game right:

1. Enemies would actually stagger reliably when you headshot/leg shot, like they did in RE4.
2. Regular zombies would actually die in one or two headshots instead of a random amount between 1 and 30. Again like RE4.
3. Regular zombies would move faster within lunge range, making headshot misses more likely and regular zombies more dangerous rather than simply annoyances.
4. Rather than relying on regular zombies to drain your ammo, let the player actually merc the regular zombies reliably and simply place large hordes or dedicated bullet sponge enemies at points where the designers want the player to be drained of ammo and have to run for their life.
5. Not remove all the text descriptions from the game. Why not leave the old school flavor in? It costs almost nothing in dev time.

I'm going to replay RE4 instead.

An incredible remake of an old classic I grew up watching my dad play. it stays true to the original but yet feels like a new and fresh game. I have only played it for a few hours but I love this game, very enjoyable. Very tense and nerve wrecking and just when regular zombies start to feel boring, Mr X arrives. I think this is my favourite game. 10/10

Resident Evil 2 is great. The remake looks beautiful ,plays well, has a decent story and progression. I am not sure If I will do a second play through but the 1st one was fun. It took me 12h and I pretty much loved all of it. If I had to complain at something, then perhaps the fact I missed the horror elements in the in the later parts of the game.

Not sure what else to say, it plays exactly like a modern remake of the classic game. Its very true in spirit and has tighter/modern feel to it. One of the best remakes I have played ever.

I must say this is the best remake game i have already played.Leon's face looks better than before thanks to the re-modeling and upgraded graphics.What's more, I gotta say Ada is a dime!Capcom must spend much time trying their best to reshape their most attractive femme fatale, which did blow me away.About the story, Capcom respects the old RE2--the story is still juicy and appealing.
And there are a bunch of puzzles that need us to solve, which makes the game kinda perplexing.Anyway, this is the game that change my thoughts towards remastered games--There could be much surprise coupled with improved graphics!You could find hell lot of fun when you are brainstorming and shooting monsters simultaneously!

TfuckingLDR : This is a MUST play - if you're a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, or if you're into the Horror genre. This game is exceptional, loaded with extra content, with high replay value & worth every cent at full price. ????????

Gameplay Features

Combat: The controls are refined and polished, the shooting feels good - but more importantly it matches the survival-horror game design. You are either rewarded or punished for how you engage in combat. If you're frantic, and moving your reticle will expand causing a decrease in accuracy & overall damage output - but if you are concentrated, focused, and still your reticle will tighten increasing your accuracy & your overall damage output. This is a brilliant but subtle touch to incentivize players to control their fear, maximize their damage output, preserve ammunition, and increase their chances of survival. However, each scenario is different - knowing when to engage in combat & when to escape is just as significant. Finally, the combat sees the return of Defense Items for a Counter-Attack. If you find yourself constantly being grabbed by enemies, these Defense Items will trigger a quick counter to temporarily stun or possibly kill the enemy - giving you a brief moment to escape or continue the fight. These are clutch for preventing you from taking any additional damage.

Combining: You will be able to create unique items such as Healing Items, Ammunition Types, Weapon Upgrades, Key Items, and Puzzle Pieces. Make sure to examine any items you pickup in your inventory for a closer look.

Inventory & Item Management: Learning to manage your Inventory and deciding which items to carry on you is essential. Do you prioritize additional weapons and ammo? Do you favor carrying multiple healing items for an emergency? And how many slots do you keep open in your Inventory as you explore to pick up new items? Just make sure to pickup all the Extra Hip Pouches you can find! Another key component to the game is Item Management - especially considering there is a limited number of resources available to you including Healing Items & Ammo. Knowing which enemies to kill and when you truly need to heal is key to your survival.

Exploration & Puzzles: You will want to move through the environment quickly, scanning & searching for Key Items to pickup as you explore. Also, your Map is color coded to let you know of any potential missed items in specific locations - Blue means you've cleared the room, Red means you've missed something. Additionally, if your character visibly sees an item but does not pick it up - your Map will mark a drawing of the specific Item and the room location for you. The puzzles in the game are incredibly rewarding to solve the more difficult they are - there are many that vary in terms of length, difficulty, and type. They will test your reading comprehension, your memory, your problem-solving skills, and some of them your overall patience (*cough* Drug Testing Lab *cough*) but they are a welcome addition and a refreshing challenge.

A Return to Evil

If Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017) was a return to form for Capcom with the survival-horror roots for the Resident Evil franchise - then RESIDENT EVIL 2 / BIOHAZARD RE:2 is the formula perfected.

This game was clearly a labor of love for Capcom who managed to faitfhully recreate the 1998 classic but simultaneously managing to reimagine it for a modern audience - with new areas, creatures, puzzles, and weapons - keeping it feeling fresh and new. Capcom manages to expertly blend all the classic ingredients of a Resident Evil game with unnerving heart-pounding gameplay, terrifying monsters, challenging puzzles, visually-stunning set-pieces, and all with a AAA production - creating an experience that feels of incredible quality & polish. Also, worth noting - Capcom utilizing their latest proprietary RE Engine (originally created for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard) the devs use a gorgeous photorealistic style for character models, and a brutal disgusting 'wet gore' effect for the zombies and monsters to display the physical damage you deal on them. This technology creates a visually stunning showcase here - with exquisite detail. (If only there was a photo mode, it would be perfect to display how incredible the RE Engine is).

Just to comment quickly, Capcom managed to do some incredible worldbuilding in this offering - from the level of details in the surroundings, environmental storytelling, and the characters that help really build the world. One of my favorite aspects of the remake is the brilliant writing & performances in the game - giving the characters an extra added layer of detail, nuance, and humanity that was missing in the original. Notable mentions include Annette Birkin, Marvin Branagh, and Kendo - who get a surprising amount of depth here and feel far more fleshed out and grounded - especially for tertiary characters. Personally, I found Leon's arc throughout the game to be the most interesting - as you witness his growth & change...with that tragic revelation at the end.

And now the final point I'll touch on is replayability. There is something inherent about the structure and design of a Resident Evil title that gives them an incredible amount of replay value. Whether you're replaying the campaign for another run to collect hidden items, files, or secrets - or - you're replaying the campaign for another run to improve your performance, rank, or time after learning Key Item Locations or managing your Inventory better. Plus you're encouraged to make a Second Run playthrough to complete the full story of both characters Claire & Leon with the return of the A & B classic story mode. This feature gives each separate character unique storylines, characters, key items, rooms, set locations, weapons, and even enemies. Additionally, there is a ton of extra content here - including five Bonus Game Modes (my personal favorite being 'Flan' from the hilarious The Tofu Survivor Mode). There are also half a dozen new costumes (some for free, some unlockable, & some for purchase), there are harder difficulties, and plenty of Achievement Hunting for Completionists out there. All of these features make a new playthrough feel fun, fresh, engaging, and unique.

Rating: 10/10 Masterpiece

This game is truly a masterpiece. There's a reason it was in contention for Game of the Year (2019). An absolute masterclass in game design, narrative, gameplay, character, voice-acting, writing, sound design, AI, animation, graphical presentation - and just the way all the elements seamlessly blend together so cohesively to create a uniquely terrifying & harrowing experience.

For the longest time I considered the remake of the original title Resident Evil (Gamecube 2001), now known as Resident Evil HD Remaster (2015), the definitive Resident Evil survival-horror experience. However, after finally playing this game I can say this is the new gold standard - not just for the Resident Evil franchise - for the survival horror genre as a whole.

Marvin Branagh: Don't make my mistake. If you see one of those things - uniform or not - you do not hesitate. You take it out...or you RUN.

This game is what other developers should aspire to when creating a remake. It is hands down the best remake I have ever played.

I remember getting this game for my birthday in third grade and my little brother watched me play for what felt like an eternity. That sparked my brothers' obsession with the resident evil franchise. I, however, did not play much of the following titles in the series. I would watch him here and there and watched the movies. I ended up getting an Xbox and Halo was my obsession. With the remake of the third one and RE: Village on the way I figured it was finally time for me to really wet my whistle with what Capcom has to offer.

This game is by far more terrifying than anything I remember playing in third grade. Parts in the original that have been implanted into my cerebral cortex out of sheer terror back then have now manifested themselves into brand new nightmares thanks to the modern revamp of the games engine with the graphics being some of the most realistic horrors I've seen even in Hollywood movies. I'm on my third or fourth playthrough and I still scream like a little girl at parts. The game is fucking terrifying. Between lickers popping out of vents, the 15-foot terminator known as Mr. X chasing you all over the goddamn place, zombies behind doors, in lockers to WHATEVER THE HELL those things in the sewers are... it's enough to give you a glimpse into quite possibly, what Hell is.

Iconic cutscenes, boss introductions, and other favoritable parts have been altered or changed in a way that keeps the game fresh but still so grounded to its core roots. Giving new players a great and new experience while giving the veteran players something to smile at in nostalgia.

Perhaps one of my favorite things in this game is the dismemberment. Really gives you that dead space sense of cutting your enemies down to a meat sack of nothing before pumping a few more rounds into their heads to make sure they're not getting back up.

The only thing I wish this game had was more content. Yes, I know there are bonus missions but that still is not enough. I just want more. Sadly, the RE3 remake ain't it. I'll review that later :/

This game is amazing. There's nothing for me to necessarily complain about other than the fact that the two stories are somewhat short. However, that's made up for by the fact that the graphics are awesome, the horror is there, and the controls aren't clunky like the first game. I actually found myself getting emotional at some points. Just plain awesome.

I found it to be a pretty scary title, it kept the tension going most of the time. The plot is pretty interesting, it made me interested in the entire franchise as a whole. The characters are likeable as well.

RE2 was my favorite in the series until 4 came out. Then I thought no Resident Evil game would ever take up that top spot again. But then this remake is just pure perfection. It brought everything we all loved from the original PS1 title into the new era of crazy good graphics and action packed, fast paced gaming we've come to know and love. I hardly noticed any glitches at all in well over 100 hours of game play. Hardcore mode is truly a challenge--Especially if you want the S+ rank to unlock the infinite rocket launcher and minigun. And the extra modes are challenging as well. A++ 100% Two Thumbs Way Up.

One of the only two survival horror games in the series made in several years. Not the best, but good enough for its price at launch. I recommend buying the game at a discount now that it is nearly two years old.

The main challenge in the game comes from resource management and blind corners. Bad resource management is very capable of making a run unwinnable, so play wisely.

The game has very good variety of weapons to figure out the best ways to clear threats. Gameplay is mostly good. Boss battles are almost all unfun because of slow character movement and tight spaces. The game is not built for the kind of combat the boss battles are trying to create.

Game has a good amount of content packed into a short experience that gets shorter with each subsequent playthrough.

Its a great re-imagining of the original RE2 (though I wish the B scenarios were a bit more fleshed out and unique) still Capcom did an amazing job of recreating the experience for old and new players of the RE series.

This game was very fun to play however it gave me a very high level of stress when i was trying to figure out how to escape from the police station when i was getting chased by not only the zombies but the bald ugly fucker who was on my ass the whole time and even after i was done he still followed i hate him for ever and ever amen.

Unlike *cough*[strike]Resident Evil 3 Remake[/strike]*cough* RE2 Remake is a VERY faithful re-imagining of the 1998's original. Sure, they indeed went lazy by copypasting B scenarios for both characters and the game has very little replayability value comparing to the original but it's still a great game nonetheless. Atmosphere, balanced action-to-horror (to be honest gameplay wise RE2R is closer to RE4 than RE2), bonus game modes (both new and old ones), Mr.X. cheesy dialogue. Highly recommended.

GPD Win Max Review of RE2 Remake

The game, itself, is a great remake of RE2. Has all of the classic feel of what made classic RE great with the over-the-shoulder more modern feel. You trek and backtrack, solving puzzles and have a lot of tricky and tough fights to give you that feel of a struggle through a horrific situation.

Granted, I do not agree with all the changes they made. I feel they made Ada a significantly less-likeable character with her holier-than-thou attitude and her little arc with Leon transitioned much too fast and didn't feel realistic at all, whereas the dynamic between Claire and Sherry was done really well.

Plus, they made Mr X all kinds of awesome with the random spawn and stalking mechanics. I really enjoyed that aspect of the game, despite how tense and difficult it was to lose him without downing him with the special Infinite Weapons.

As far as handheld playing goes, the GPD Win Max runs this game acceptably. Performance Preset gets it to around 25-40 fps throughout the entire game which is great. I am so happy I can play both this and the remake of RE3 on a handheld.

- The Bad

Intel Graphics Optimization. The flashing assets with running this on the Win Max's Intel Iris Plus Graphics really looks rough. Having stairs, floors, and ladders constantly flashing really makes me glad I don't suffer from seizures. But I can put up with it for portable RE2Make. I just wish they would patch it as the RE3 Demo doesn't have those problems and I absolutely adore RE2 above the other games, both the original and this version.

Easily one of the greatest remakes and games of all time! Easily one of my favorite games of all time! Ada Wong and the other characters look way way better and more realistic and more expressive. The game is much more atmospheric and scary than the original. The controls are way better and thank God this game does not use the terrible laser dot aiming mechanic but uses cross hairs yes! Please everyone go buy this game you will never regret it! The best Resident Evil and one of the best horror games of all time!

Honestly one of the best horror games I've played so far. Not as good as RE4 but still in top 5 I guess.

Perfect scarry atmosphere, great sound and amazing graphics, satisfying combat system. Literally anything U want from RE game but done almost perfectly.

In short, Resident Evil 2 Remake is my Game of the Year 2019. It hits all the right spots.

Resident Evil franchise actually took a few sharp turns over the years. The classic Resident Evil (0, 1, 2, 3, etc.) are survival horror featuring intense gameplay due to limited supplies and slots. Inventory management, map and level design (Metroidvania-like) and puzzle solving are the core gameplay. Whereas the more recent Resident Evil (4, 5, 6 and Revelations series) are more action and shooter oriented. They are no longer survival horror but more of a third-person shooter. The latest of the franchise (in terms of story) Resident Evil 7, is completely different than its predecessors as a first-person shooter for the first time of the franchise. While having similar code gameplay like classic Resident Evil, it features the horror atmosphere and sophisticated story that unravels itself as the game progresses, and even a much stronger character-building making the plots no longer generic.

Back to Resident Evil 2 Remake, the game is completely overhauled with a new engine. New technologies enable the game to create grim atmosphere and surroundings making it far more immersive than the original while keeping what makes a good and intense survival horror: limited resources, relentless enemies, jump scare, the urge of moving fast etc. The fight is relatively slow-paced, but the game is still pretty intense. With a modern shooter system, players can surely go gun blazing, but you might need to think about your strategy on saving ammo and stuff, especially with enemies that don’t stay dead easily (use your knife wisely).

Map design is very interesting and is one of the best map designs I have ever seen. The game is a horror game that makes you want to runaway, however the map design makes you feel like exploring and gathering all the loots and secrets. Basically, when you get a new item, there are hints what you need to do next, unlike Resident Evil 1 which I feel completely lost and unable to process due to lack of guidance. The layout is complicated (not as complicated and unfriendly as Resident Evil 1) and you might get lost but the map can always give tons of help. Also, the map design gives this game a lot of replayability. It is still fun to dive in more than once. As you get familiar with the map and enemy layouts, you will feel like a badass for the second or more times playthrough.

The story is a bit generic, and there are a few nitpicking I want to point out. You need to play the game twice with different characters in order to reach the true ending. While it is not a problem, but this design causes inconsistency in the story. Like, you experience the same scenario twice though there are a few differences. It just doesn’t make sense in the story because you have experienced the scenario with your first character. I know it is mostly due to how the original was designed, but the stories of two characters are supposed to happen in time order, instead of being like in parallel universes. The other thing is performance. The actress of Claire, though she is very cute, her performance is not that great as her expression is kind of stiff and the same most of the time. The voice actress of Ada Wong, correct me if I am wrong but it seems her accent slipped several times.

Anyway, this game is 10 out of 10 and I recommend it as a must-play.

A fantastic remake that cuts no corners:
-Atmospheric horror that doesn't constantly rely on jumpscares (though they're not entirely absent)
-Good balance of resource management, exploration, combat
-Engaging story and characters
-Reliable and responsive controls on Controller and Keyboard
-Runs great (4k 60fps on my 5700xt), looks great with decent HDR support
-Clever replayability and fun 'arcadey' challenge modes
-Fantastic PC settings and moddable :)

What a masterpiece!!
Gorgeous, scary, challenging, and fun.
This game is a mix between classic and modern video games.
I tried a couple of RE games before, but this was the 1st one for me to complete.
Definitely one of the best games I have ever played.<3

I've played the game for about 175 hours as of writing, got 100% of the achievements, made around 60 mods for this game in about a year... I guess you could say I like the game.

Amazing game. Optimization, control settings for keyboard and mouse, physics, atmosphere of horror are on highest level. Didn't meet any game bugs. Creators, you have done really huge and hard work for this project. Very huge thank you from me. I really felt only good emotions when was playing it.
