Zwei Jahre sind seit dem Ende des zweiten Gemini-Kriegs vergangen und an Frieden ist in diesem vom Krieg zerrütteten System noch lange nicht zu denken. Nur noch wenige Mitglieder der ursprünglichen Freiheitskämpfer - der Gemini-Liga - sind übrig. Sie stehen nicht nur ohne Anführer da, sondern haben auch an Macht und Einfluss verloren. Das Imperium hat jedoch die Zeit genutzt und seine Basis in der Nähe der wiedereröffneten Starpoint-Station errichtet. Von dort aus will es den Gemini-Sektor zurückzuerobern – und den Raum der jenseits davon liegt.

Zahlreiche imperiale Kriegsschiffflotten und riesige Mutterschiffe haben jede Spur der Opposition ausgelöscht. Bis zu dem Zeitpunkt, als das Imperium plötzlich und unverständlicherweise begann, seine Armada umzulenken und mehr und mehr Schiffe zur Verstärkung von Starpoint abzukommandieren, sah es schlecht für das ganze System aus. Schon bald kamen Gerüchte auf, dass sie Angst vor etwas haben, das durch das T-Gate kommen könnte - aus der Richtung, in der das Zentrum des Imperiums liegt. Doch vor was laufen sie davon? Das ist genau die art von Weltraumspiel die ich gesucht hatte.
Man fängt mit einem kleinen Schiff an und durch Kämpfen , Handel, Bergbau, oder Piraterie kauft man sich bessere Schiffe und rüstet sie Hoch.
Dabei hat man sehr viel Freiheiten, man kann auch wahlweise Schiffe kapern und diese dann für sich selbst ausrüsten.
Gut zu händeln , leichte Bedienung und viel Freiheit im Gaming ist genau das was ich brauche und schätze.
Mir macht es sehr viel Spaß.
Bugs und sonstige Fehler konnte ich bisher noch nicht entdecken.
Das Spiel bekommt von mir volle Punkte.
Mich hat es erstmal süchtig gemacht.

Vor diesem Hintergrund fängt dein Leben als junger Mann nun an. Es wird ein gefährliches leben, so viel sei verraten.

Wie ihr auf diesem Foto sehen könnt ist es ein sehr großes Raumgebiet das ihr erkunden könnt, jedoch ist es überwiegend Feindlich. Also mache dich mit deinem Kanonenboot auf um es zu erkunden.
Im Spiel findest du fünfzig unterschiedliche Fraktionen, von Staaten über Firmen bis hin zu Gesetzlosen, die um die Macht kämpfen, sowie mehr als 100 Waren zum Handeln oder zum Plündern.
Ich habe mit dem Startschiff bis LvL 20 gespielt das ist kurz vor Ende der Hauptkampangene.
Nun aber müsste ich eines der mehr als 70 einzigartige Schiffe kaufen, deren Systeme erweitert werden können, was gut umgesetzt wurde. Mir gefällt dieses Aufwertungssystem sehr gut, so bietet dir jeder Kampf mit anderen Schiffen immer eine Überraschung, da du nie weißt wie stark der Gegner wirklich ist.
Und kämpfen kannst du wirklich reichlich.
Dieses Spiel ist für jeden geeignet der gerne auf Erkundung geht und es nicht stört das sehr viel Zeit mit Geldverdienen zugebracht werden muss. Zudem solltest du gerne Raumkämpfe ausfechten wollen.
Viele dieser kämpfe kannst du nur gewinnen wenn du alle Möglichkeiten ausschöpfst oder halt ein deutlich überlegenes Schiff nutzt. Das Gameplay ist richtig gut gemacht und es macht viel Spass.
Fazit:
Wer ein gutes Spiel sucht ist hier richtig, jedoch solltest du Zeit haben es auch wirklich zu Spielen da es viel Komplexer ist als es auf den ersten Blick scheinen mag. Viel Spass dabei.....

As you can see in this photo it is a very large area that you can explore, but it is mostly hostile. So get on your gunboat to explore.
In the game you will find fifty different factions, from states to companies to outlaws fighting for power, and more than 100 goods to trade or loot.
I played with the starting ship up to LvL 20, which is just before the end of the main campaign.
But now I would have to buy one of the more than 70 unique ships whose systems can be expanded, which has been implemented well. I like this upgrade system very much, so every fight with other ships always gives you a surprise, because you never know how strong the opponent really is.
And you can fight really well.
This game is suitable for everyone who likes to explore and does not mind that a lot of time has to be spent making money. You should also want to fight space fights.
You can only win many of these battles if you exhaust all possibilities or just use a clearly superior ship. The gameplay is really well done and it's a lot of fun.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a good game, this is the place for you, but you should really have time to play it as it is much more complex than it might seem at first glance. Have lots of fun with it.....

Starpoint Gemini 2 ist ein 3D Space Adventure Single Player RPG mit Open World Elementen, in welchem man sich entspannt durchs Weltall meucheln kann.

Starpoint Gemini 2 wirkt wie traditioneller 3D Space Shooter, ist aber keiner, der Fokus liegt hier klar auf den RPG und Open World Elementen, wie Charakter hochleveln, neue Schiffe kaufen und upgraden, Schiffsbesatzung anheuern, Handel treiben, Missionen erfüllen wie z.b. Meuchel und Transportfahrten u.s.w.. Und all das macht man in Echtzeit im Weltraum als quasi Weltraum Entrepreneur auf seinem Raumschiff. Gesteuert wird am besten mit Tastatur und Maus (mehr dazu später) durchs Weltall, da man besonders in Kämpfen mehrere Befehle gleichzeitig geben muss während man versucht das Schiff so zum Gegner auszurichten, damit die eigenen Geschütze diesen besser aufs Korn nehmen können.

Wenn nicht gerade gekämpft oder Nebenmissionen erfüllt werden, folgt man einer gut erzählten Rache Story durchs All, welche (meiner Meinung nach) rel. Lange braucht bis diese an Fahrt gewonnen hat.

Meine Empfehlung hier, ladet euch das kostenlose DLC Starpoint Gemini Origins herunter, dieser enthält nämlich das komplette erste Spiel der Starpoint Gemini Serie welches einen besser in die Starpoint Gemini Welt einführt.

Negatives kann ich hier nur im Detail anbringen, leider ist die Steuerung mit Gamepad und Joystick mehr als hackelig und sollte möglichst vermieden werden. Ersteres kann man aber versuchen wenn man wirklich Zeit in das Tweaken der Steuerung investieren will.

Ich fands nicht wirklich schlimm, aber die Nebenmissionen nehmen zu vorhersehbar an Komplexität zu, ich hätte mir hier ein wenig mehr Varianz gewünscht. Die Lokalisierung auf englisch ist stellenweise fragwürdig und ich habe das Gefühl dass das Voiceacting mit Absicht zwischen Russischen Amateur und professionellen englischsprachigen Syncronsprechern aufgeteilt wurde. Für mich kein Dealbreaker, da das Spiel für mich dadurch einen speziellen Charakter bekommt. Aber ich kann mir vorstellen, das dies den ein oder anderen stören könnte.

Alles in Allem ist für mich Starpoint Gemini 2 ein schönes Single Player Spiel für zwischendurch, mit extrem viel Spiel zu Spiel, dank dem Origins DLC und gratis MODs.

Fazit: Starpoint Gemini 2 ist ein sehr solider Titel, in welchen man sich schön lange verbeißen kann, da man quasi für den Preis von einem gleich zwei Spiele bekommt. Wer also nach einem schönen Weltraumspiel für zwischendurch sucht, kann hier an einem Sale Tag nichts falsch machen.
Wer aber keine RPG/Open World ähnlichen Spiele mag, wird leider auch nicht mit mit diesem Spiel bekehrt werden.

Starpoint Gemini 2 macht Spaß, hat aber auch seine Macken.
Hier die wichtigsten Punkte:

Kampange:
Zur Story selber möchte ich nichts sagen, da ich sie noch nicht ganz durchgespielt habe. Außerdem denke ich, dass das Geschmacksache ist. Allerdings fügt sich die Kampange nicht so richtig ins Spiel ein.
Z.B. wenn während der Story eine Raumstation von Gegnern übernommen wird, so ist sie nach Abschluss der Mission immernoch freundlich gesinnt.
Ein anderes Bsp: Wird man in der Kampange aufgefordert in einem bestimmten Bereich nicht zu kämpfen, weil es gegen die Gesetze sei, so interessiert das nach Abschluss der Mission plötzlich niemanden mehr, ob dort gekämpft wird oder nicht.

Rufsystem:
Das Rufsystem ist für mich einer der größten Schwachpunkte im Spiel.
Es gibt sehr viele Fraktionen. Aber man kann nur Ruf gewinnen oder verlieren, was sich dann auf alle Fraktionen gleichzeitig auswirkt. Somit werden keine Beziehungen zwischen den Fraktionen dargestellt und man hat sehr schnell bei allen gleichgesinnten Fraktionen den maximalen Ruf erreicht.

Kämpfe:
Man darf hier keine Dogfights wie in Freelancer oder Darkstar One erwarten. Das ist aufgrund der recht langsamen Geschwindigkeit nicht möglich. Hier ist es wichtiger den Abstand zu den Gegnern im Auge zu behalten und vor allem dessen und auch die eigene Ausrichtung, da die Schilde in vier Segmente unterteilt sind und einzeln runtergschossen werden können. Je nach Gegnerstärke ist auch der richtige Einsatz der Skills wichtig.
Per Initialscan bekommt man eine erste Einschätzung der Gegnerstärke (von Trivial bis Unmöglich). Triviale und Schwache Gegner sind in der Regel in Sekunden zerstört. Interessant wird es erst bei Gegnern die darüber liegen. Wobei man unmöglich nicht wörtlich nehmen sollte - auch nicht im Kampf gegen die Helden, von denen ca. 20 durchs Universum fliegen und hohe Belohungen versprechen.

Nebenquests:
Die Nebenquests wiederholen sich leider sehr häufig. Es gibt Mordaufträge, Rettungsmissionen, Wissenschaftsmissionen, Reparaturaufträge und Frachtmissionen für Personen und Gegenstände. Diese laufen alle immer gleich ab. Mit höherem Level werden allerdings noch ein paar weitere Arten von Aufträgen freigeschaltet.

Lokalisierung:
Die deutsche Übersetzung weist einige Fehler auf. Sowohl sinngemäße Fehler, als auch Rechtschreibfehler. Ganz selten fehlt die Übersetzung auch ganz und man hat ein paar Sätze auf englisch.
Die Synchronsprecher geben sich Mühe, aber wirken trotzdem sehr laienhaft.

Performance:
Meistens läuft das Spiel absolut flüssig. Lediglich wenn neue Nebenquests geladen werden habe ich einen kurzen Ruckler drin. Und ganz selten kommt es zu richtig heftigen Rucklern, aber nur wenn wirklich große Schlachten mit vielen Schiffen stattfinden. (i5-4570, GTX670, 16GB RAM, Win7 64bit)

Jetzt habe ich viele negative Dinge genannt und empfehle euch das Spiel aber trotzdem. Warum?
Starpoint Gemini 2 ist ein Spiel, das den Sammeltrieb weckt. Der Ehrgeiz immer größere und stärkere Schiffe zu kaufen ist ziemlich stark und es gibt in dem riesigen Universum viel zu entdecken.
Außerdem gibt es eine Vielzahl an Waffen, die sich alle noch modifizieren lassen - genau das Richtige für die Spieler, die gern ihre Ausrüstung optimieren. Neben den Standartsystemen kann man noch Blaupausen finden mit denen sich wohl ganz besondere Systeme bauen lassen. Und der Drang alle Helden zu töten ist ebenfalls ziemlich groß.

Fazit:
Man muss sich in diesem Spiel oft seine eigenen Ziele setzen, um sich nicht zu langweilen. Wer damit klarkommt wird eine Menge Spaß mit dem Spiel haben.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is an RPG game set in space.

Starpoint Gemini 2 (SPG2) has two primary campaigns: The Origins campaign which is a remake of their first games storyline and the newer SPG2 main campaign storyline. Origins is more difficult than the SPG2 storyline and also in general a bit rougher and buggier. I'll be generous and say that the voice acting for that particular campaign is B-Grade. I had fun with that campaign but there are times when there are broken scripts and can stop progression in the story, requiring annoying workarounds to get it progressing. With that said I definitely appreciate the existence of that campaign and it does effectively increase the available content for SPG2.

The main campaign for SPG2 is better overall than Origins. It introduces concepts better and also includes some game-play features that weren't suitable for the Origins campaign. Better voice actors and slightly improved writing.

The progression of SPG2 is mostly about gaining reputation and credits so you can get a bigger badder and better equipped ship. It is not about fleet building or building stations etc. You can have 2 hired mercenaries to accompany you though. When you start a game you choose 4 different captain types, each of those having their own set of 4 active skills/abilities which when used will boost the ability of your ship in certain ways. There is a skill tree of sorts which is the same for each class, leveling the skills increases various passive bonuses.

There is a basic trading/commodity system which I did not delve into much. I'm fairly sure prices are static so I didn't have a lot of interest doing trade runs and stuck purely with combat and missions for progression.

Battles in SPG2 can be rather tactical. You have the ability to change power distribution between engines/weapons and shields. Shields have 4 areas of protection, so as one side gets weaker you can rotate your ship to another stronger side while the weak side recovers.

There is a reasonable enough amount of variety of weapon types, from various types of pulse lasers to railguns, missiles and fighters. As expected specific weapons are better or worse in different circumstances.

Asides from story-line missions there are also lots of side missions that will crop up throughout gameplay. Such as escort, repair station, defend station from attack, rescue, capture etc. The available pool of side-missions early on is more limited but over time becomes expanded with newer and possibly more difficult types.

Visually I think the game holds up nicely. It still looks good to my eyes. I mostly like the sound design except for the engine sound that really obviously loops when going into boosted engine mode. They really needed to tone that one down or make it less obvious that it loops.

The game is mostly bug-free but there are at least a couple of them. One issue I had was the game would stutter/freeze when generating new side missions and would sometimes intermittently freeze when travelling around which really takes you out of the game a bit. Another one that I can recall was that sometimes when trying to accept a mission the button wouldn't register a click at all. I eventually learned to fix that one when it happens by dragging the mission accept window around slightly and then suddenly the game knows where the accept button is.

All in all I would recommend this game, definitely not for the non-sale price though which is priced a bit high for what's on offer. Certainly worth while on a sale though.

I've tried starting this 9 blasted times, and i keep not finding the right words. Maybe these will do. Buy it. I've had plenty of whiskey tango foxtrot moments, and why the hell moments, but overall more fun than screaming at my screen. Buy it, i almost guarantee you'll love it.

its just another Capital spaceship game nothing new, i thought since it had a YOUR Fleet Option we would be able to add multiple ships flying with us, but thats a big no, im still gonna play because im bored but whats the point of even having the your fleet button if your fleet is just your ship >_>

auto firing guns saves you from the target reticle bouncing around and you get to explore stuff oh its big did i say that already, you can find me on twitch sometime say name extra o enjoy this the voice acting during the campaign is pretty cool

I will mention that I got this for free on sale a few years back, and subsequently I have no real investment into the game being 'worth the money'. It's a pretty damn good space simulator, with a range of features and fun opportunities to enjoy yourself. I have read a review which labelled it as 'EVE Offline', and such a labelling could not be more accurate. Some pretty decent modding support and availability as well, which is a nice bonus.

In all honesty, it's not a game worth its full sale price, but if you ever find that it's on a steep sale, or being given away for free, like older games sometimes are, it's definitely worth playing.

There is a bunch about this game I like. But ultimately, the controls, interface, and combat behavior, were too diabolically frustrating for me to enjoy.

Maybe it was just me, but all the resolution options looked like absolute butt. I simply could not get it to look anything but fuzzy as hell. Sorry but refund :(

The game is a pleasant enough distraction, but the level progression is horribly broken. While there are a great variety of tasks you can do in this game, only one of them (capturing vessels and selling them for scrap) is going to make you enough money to keep up with the rest of the universe. Maybe if ship prices were lower, or if stats were balanced so that smaller ships had a fighting chance as the game progresses, or even if you didn't have to trade in your ship every five levels to keep up, I would give this game a solid recommendation, but the rat-race you have to do to stay competitive I feel would spoil the game for most people.

The game has some nice points. Capturing ships is the fastest way to build wealth. The game has no strategy. Its just get a better ship, then get an even better ship and get more wealth so you can get the best ship.

The HUD is too big, intrusive and bright for me. It is a total distraction to immersion. You can hit F11 to remove the HUD, but it removes everything, the mouse pointer, ship targeting. Even the destination markers are gone, so you are blind in space this way.

I have tried using a HUD mods, and there is one that is better than vanilla. Its finicky to get it to load the 1st time. It wouldn't work with my DLC's until I used it without DLC's first. Don't ask me why. It makes the borders of the HUD see through, so you can see more action below your ship. However, the icons are still super sized and too big. Still, makes the game more functional.

Extremely slow and mediocre space not-simulator.

Everything about this game is bad-to-average. The combat is average, the story is dull, traveling takes a large amount of time in which you do nothing, audiovisuals are fine and planets are hilariously small - they appear only to be few dozen times larger than your ship. Moreover, everything is static - no economy, dynamic factions or events - hence I call it space not-simulator. Oh, and the game is level scaled so everything always feels the same. If you're better then so are your enemies, and there are no more dangerous areas for you when you are low level.

Don't bother. If you want to play space simulators better get X series, if into space shooters then Freelancer series. Perhaps something else, but definitely not Starpoint Gemini series, which is just poor.

Not overly complicated. Fun space battles. You don't have to build an empire in order to play the game. Reminds you of Privateer and Freelancer.

i like the game, i just can't stand sitting around for hours waiting to fly to destinations. especially worse since it requires some grinding. too bad since i'll be missing out on a potentially great game.

Super fun game. Easy to get into and progressing through the ships is a good time. I like the auto fire and ability mechanics. Boarding is the best way to go for making money and its challenging. Its an indie game and that shows, but I like whats here.

I've only played the Freeroam mode so far, but I have been loving it.

Combat feels a little limited, but it is well polished. You have light and heavy weapons, shields you can boost with consumables and even repair items to help you last longer. It feels incredibly satisfying to out-maneuver a more powerful ship, nail a few good hits to disable its heavy weaponry and then proceed to tear it apart.

Exploration is soothing. You get to fly across an expansive map, finding all sorts of resources and random encounters. Travelling across space is a sight for the eyes and when you're travelling w some valuable cargo, or a VIP guest, you'll often find yourself scouting everything around you for any surprise attacks.

The merc system is pretty interesting, and the fact that you level up fairly quickly makes progression feel rewarding.

That being said, it's a pity that some fights feel like they're just a numbers' battle, but it makes sense that a smaller, beginner ship cannot take a large warship.

Overall, it's a very pleasant experience, with great sights, satisfying combat, but a little too simplistic. Nevertheless I strongly recommend giving it a go if you enjoy sci-fi series like Star Wars, Cowboy bebop and Lost Universe.

This game got me hooked!
I'm not usually the one to get too much into exploring the ever-growing vastness of space (dark, overly lenghty, boring), but Starpoint Gemini 2 managed to make it extraordinarily eventful!
The game is really on point and I love it. I've tried the prequel and am yet to play the sequel, but I firmly believe the standards go up with each new release.
I cannot get over the fact how well the audiovisuals are made, and how much they enhance the overall atmosphere. I've lost a handful of missions purely out of my negligent immersion in the 'feel' of the moment :D

Anyway, very cool, I'm still catching up with the combinations and strategies for the best experience possible. 3D models are amazing, music even more so, the backgrounds and everything - so cool!
Dialogue, however, needs more fluidity as I've caught myself being more drawn to small freelance missions rather than Main and Side, but that may only be me. It just means I play the game longer ;)

All in all, I'm very entertained by Starpoint Gemini 2, and I'd definitely recommend it for aspiring space explorers and everyone who feels like it!

My favorite thing about this game is how easy it makes it to fun up on bigass space ships with a bigass space ship. Lots of space combat with not near as much thinking required as other games, for when you don't feel like putting time into X.

This game can be fun to play, but at the same time very frustrating to complete. This is due to a bug that occur several times while doing the main quests that prevent any further dialogue to open up and tell you where to go next. You are going to have to revert to either the autosave or prior saves. This will likely lose you the time you grind on the side quests and their rewards. I did a few new games and never get to finish the main story because the game is bugged and could not continue forward every time.

A fun little space game. Graphics look pretty good even with only a modest GPU. If you're into 3D space shooter/exploration games, this should be right up your alley.

Space...and no boarders or loading screens. Its a good game if you just want to play something for 20 minutes or so. DON'T play the story for this game, it is complete garbage. i'd say don't buy this game look for it as a freebie or maybe a really cheap deal. like 5 dollars or less type a deal.

Don't mind the play timer, I played it a lot w/o Steam. I simply love this one. It's not too complicated, not too simplified, perfect mix of action and in-depth mechanics. Gorgeous-looking space, pretty planet artworks, great activity variation - this is a game that allows you to relax and lose yourself in living out your power fantasy of exploring far reaches of space, trading, conquering, etc. I feel like if Warlords was a big DLC to this game instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, we could've had a 10/10 space sim on our hands. Still, even if you can't rule the galaxy here, you sure as he|| can have fun with it.

I enjoy starship games so i decided to give this one a go. The graphics are very nice and I like the way the ships look. The sounds are nice for a space game. The story (what i saw of it) was standard sci-fi fare of a man looking for revenge and such. The controls are serviceable, and rebindable (thankfully).

But the gameplay is horrid and grindy. In between missions, you have to do countless side jobs in order to afford ship upgrades and pay your crew. And these side jobs (mainly the assassination and rescue mssions, can also apply to story missions) can vary WILDLY in difficulty, ranging from small easy to handle fighters to huge battleships and dreads. And even though there is a leveling system, it ONLY applies to your rank, meaning while you're still in a frigate, you could be going against battleships well out of your league!

You COULD try mining for materials, but the pay is SUPER lousy. The ONLY way to make decent money is to capture enemy ships, but again, this can be problamatic. If you do it near friendly bases, you'll end up having the security blowing the enemy up before you can cap it (assuming you even have enough troops for it)! And if you do it in deep space, you risk being outnumbered very quickly and killed.

This randomness of enemies and their power can very frustrating when you load your save and leave dock, only to be jumped by enemy ships and blown up before you even know what is happening! THIS is the single reason why I CANNOT recommend this game. This would be a great space sim if it weren't for this. If YOU enjoy this level of challenge, so by all means. But if you're just looking for a fun space sim that won't make you rip your hair out, may I recommend Rebel Galaxy?

Starpoint Gemini 2, in its core, is a space exploration sandbox, featuring a huge galaxy with lots of things to do. It has a relaxed pace, quite a bit of depth, not too high of a difficulty and a nice game flow.

Main downsides are horrible balancing and a very boring main story line. Personally I was annoyed as well that you can either pick story mode or sandbox mode, but not really do both at the same time, which felt limiting ore missing out content at times, but in the long run turned out to be ok.

There's better games out there, but for fans of the genre this can truly be a bargain on sale due to the massive amount of hours one can sink into this. It's fun enough to play it for quite a while at the least

I am enjoying this game. People have complained about the voice acting. I find it unusual and unique and therefore a refreshing change from the norm. This game is some what like universal combat only easier. Many of the same actions are available but without such a steep learning curve. Story is holding my interest. The main thing is the game is entertaining and that is the point.

Very arcadey and action-based, the background story is shallow, the voice acting way below par. Redeeming qualities would be the pleasant graphics and the variety of things you could do, but that's not enough to make the cut. Wasted opportunity.

Quite a fun if simplistic game kill or capture enemies get loot / cash buy bigger ships to kill more enemies
Not sure I would pay full price for it as its now quite old but I bought it on sale and feel It was worth the purchase.

5.5/10 not bad, but barely worth the price.
It's a space sim RPG with some shooter element so it's more on upgrading your ship and exploring a faction filled system, and less on intense dogfighting or tactical slugfest.

good
- Pretty graphic.
Somewhat arcadey/simplistic though the environment, ships and etc. blend together perfectly.

- Many things to do besides combat.
ship collecting, doing achievement, or just plain exploring which is actually quite enjoyable for a while.

bad
- Lackluster campaign.
with bad writing and terrible voice acting. It's a disaster.

- Shallow ship combat.
Different ships and loadouts don't make meaningful change on how to handle a ship, so getting a bigger ship and gun is the only sound combat tactics.

A very nice Space-combat and exploration game.

Pros:

- Good graphics - no Hollywood Blockbuster but still very pretty.
- Nice music that fits well with the whole space and exploration theme.
- Various ship types and many individual ships to choose from.
- Lots of stuff to do beside the main mission.
- Tactical space fights are well executed and fun.
- Roaming around in space and doing side tasks that are not fighting is also quite enjoyable.
- Faction system is well implemented, you always have some allies, neutrals and enemies which also influences the star chart to a certain degree.
- Achivements are reasonable to get, actually my first game to reach 100%.

Cons:

- Story is a bit weak, mainly due to the aprupt ending.
- Camera controls are a bit wonky, took me some time to find the right settings and get used to them. Definetly needs improvement imo.
- Crashes from time to time, so make sure to save frequently.
- AI (enemy as well as autopilot, etc) is flawed every now and then.
- German syncronisation is ok, but there is room for improvement.

I got this on pretty deep discount, if I'd paid full price I may not be recommending the game. It is not well programmed and there are some bizarre design choices like only being able to save when docked. alt-tab (inconsistently) makes the game play in a window with a limited range of motion with the mouse, which makes it impossible to go back to full screen or save. Better hope you were docked recently or can limp to the nearest planet/starbase without being attacked. Additionally the tutorial is horribly designed, giving way too much information on pretty intuitive things while doing almost nothing to explain how to interact with the game. Follow cam is absolutely necessary for combat yet is unassigned (and never even made apparent that it's possible) even though much less important functions have hot keys.

Yet once you get into the game a bit it all kind of starts to work. Combat is a little frustrating but also challenging enough to be engaging, and weapon placement becomes relatively important. So far progression isn't terrible though a little slow. It's a solid though limited space rpg, I absolutely wouldn't buy it for more than 10 bucks, but if you can get it on sale it's worth playing.

Gets a very tepid recommendation.
