Information

The Last Tinker ist ein heiteres, liebevoll gestaltetes Action Adventure, inspiriert von zeitlosen Klassikern wie Zelda, Jak & Daxter und Banjo Kazooie.

Gameplay

Fazit

The Last Tinker entführt dich auf ein farbenfrohes Abenteuer nach Farbstadt, in eine Welt, die ganz auf Kreativität, Gefühlen und Zusammenarbeit aufgebaut ist.

The Last Tinker ist eine liebevolle Mischung aus BanjoKazooie und den Batman Teilen ( Und das aus einem deutschen Entwicklerstudio! )

+ gute Grafik

The Last Tinker macht bereits einen charmanten Eindruck.

Got this in a bundle years ago. I assumed it would be just another one of those sh!t bundle games that would sit in my library for all of eternity. Thankfully I was moved to try it out and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had with this game.

If you played the OG 3D platformers on the N64, Dreamcast, or even some of the early PS2 titles, you’ll feel right at home with The Last Tinker. It certainly wears its influences on its sleeve. I can see if you weren’t a gamer from the aforementioned eras, you would likely find some hard faults within the general game design. For instance…

The camera is kind of wonky, much like it was in early 3D platformers. If you”ve played similar games before… you’re used to it and can adjust. Players unfamiliar, however, probably wouldn’t be so tolerant. Same with the auto-jump (like Ocarina of Time). This wasn’t an issue for me for the majority of the game but did become a bit of a thorn in some of the later levels. But I can see how not being able to jump at will would be a strange design choice to some people.

Beyond that though, I found The Last Tinker to be a sweet little love letter to a beloved era of gaming. Graphics and sound were solid, controls were sufficient, good variety to the levels, and the game length was decent. Story is kinda dumb, but there are a few chuckles to be had here and there.

If you can grab this cheap (or in a bundle like I did) and are a fan of old school 3D platformers, this will most likely satisfy with some warm feelings of nostalgia.

And to anyone that may be concerned, don’t worry. The Last Tinker will not tinker with your stinker. ????

7/10 - Fun enjoyable adventure.

I haven't finished this purely because I got sidetracked by a variety of other games (shocking) BUT from my experience of playing it, it was really enjoyable. Cute adventure platforming. Colourful and delightful animations/artstyle. - A very vibrant, adorable adventure and the rest of the game seems to be promising for what I played of it.

Also, GREAT price for the value of the game's content.

the game is not fun and its really boring and while its aimed towards kids i cant really recommend it for them either since if my brothers and i got this when we were kids we would have touched it once for maybe an hour though even that's a stretch and then never pick it up again and just start playing other games or just do something else

also i don't think this game should be described as a 3D Platformer i mean there is a parkour system but its just amounts to hold the run button and go in a direction

Theres a lot of love and fun put into this game and the world building looks awesome, but it doesn't seem to be optimized for PC. Theres only a few buttons needed to platform and attack, however its extremely frustrating when your attack, jump, and special attack is all one button. When I try to jump for platforms or jump on the cargo line, the game doesn't understand what it wants me to do so I end up rolling/attacking off the side of a cliff instead of on top of the cargo line (try doing this 20 times in a row and dying non-stop). As much as I like this game and want to give it a chance, I can't finish it due to stupid glitches and occasional broken levels. You can't complete a broken game.

I got this game for $1 so its not bad for the price considering I hit 6hrs of gameplay on it before I decided to quit. So if you get it for a deal like that, I say go for it. Just don't get it full price.

Pretty good game, not too long, around 4 hours if you rush it, 6 hours if you take your time to look for everything.

Straight forward, point A to point B with only going off the path for a collectable. Not too difficult though an enemy or two can be confusing on how to beat due to game not telling you how and you need to guess work.

The art-style is nice though only thing really keeping each area look different is really just the colours, otherwise most of it will blend in.

The collectables are fun to take your time to go and get, they are rarely in hard places, just most times in a path abit to the right or behind something but collecting them does unlock concept art and some fun little modes you can choose to play with.

The achievements are not as hard as the % count makes you think, most are just from doing each boss/chapter area while the others are easy to find and don't take much out of your objective to do. Just sucks not many who have opened this game have given it a chance past the first hour of the game.

My only gripe with the game is if you missed a collectable at end of an area, you need to rewatch the cutscenes and do everything again just to get back to that point. Cutscenes cannot be skipped and clicking off the game while you wait pauses it. Just a small issue which may ruin it for those going back in to 100%.

2 minutes in and you instantly realize the game plays itself. Hold right trigger and walk, that's it.

Looked like a fun little 3D platformer, but you don't even have a jump.

It's a nice short game to quickly playthrough and definitely worth it when it's on a sale. Some of the controls are a bit weird and the mouse sensitivity is also a bit off. If you have a controller, then rather use that. You also can't change any of the controls unfortunately.

I'm glad I paid 99 cents for this because this game is BORING.
Shitty Arkham style combat that's mind-numbing.
You practically never use the other color powers in combat.
Useless color powers that never get used outside of main objectives.
Autoplatforming in a platformer.
None of the worlds are fun to traverse.
A very basic story.

Honestly, the only things I can maybe like about it are the visuals and music, but that's a BIG maybe.

What a nice game!
I love to paint so I really enjoyed the idea of the city of colors and that each color represents different feelings and temperaments.
Nice little platform game with a cute and unique graphic and voice design (the voice of the scared green spirit is absolutely amazing).
My one complaint would be the feeling that this game is...quite short. Also it would be a nice thing to be able to run around freely in the color districts after completing the game.
And one more thing to not forget...the mushrooms (Biggs and Bomber) are dangerously funny and cute!
I am giving this game a solid 8.9 out of 10 and a big thumbs up! :)

Tries to be in Spyro's or Ratchett and Clank's footsteps but falls short.
Main critic is the annoying combat system where you can die instantly and have to do difficult sections again.
Everything else, graphics, exploration, sound, story and mechanics are acceptable. Leaving out the jump button is a nice innovation.

What is The Last Tinker: City of Colors ?

I discovered this game during a sale and I was kinda surprised due to how cheap it was and the previews in the store page showed that it didnt look bad at all, in fact it looked great and well-polished, I didnt know what this game was exactly about other than it was a cheap indie that looked beautiful but the tags said it had platform and adventure elements and as someone who loves those types of games and wish for more of them from time to time I gave a go, it was cheap why not ? sadly this game was pretty disappointing and despite being cheap, its not just because of the price but also the fact that you have invest your time on the game, it doesnt matter if its cheap if its not good enough, a game that isnt good enough will not make the time you spent on it worth it, unless youre just looking for a game to increase your library size this review is for people who discovered this game and are deciding if ITS WORTH PLAYING at least and Ill explain that below.

Again, I didnt know what I was getting into but the tags and the game's description on the store page compares it to a modern take on Banjo-Kazooie and as someone who loves that game I expected a similar vibe, a similar type of gameplay, I expected us to go into separate stages with different settings each through a hub world, getting collectibles, learning new moves and such, you know the same formula we saw on those classic platform games, the game description said and compared itself to that, Im not lying here so based on that info I went in expecting a platforming of sorts but it isnt really, the platform we actually have here is just holding space and seeing the character doing everything himself, why a platforming game has no dedicated jump button to let us freely jump, why the platforming is automated ? why take the control away from the player ? let me do my own shit, theres no dedicated jump button here, also no cool stuff/puzzles to solve either by using your new characters abilities or tools, maybe a few times in the game interacting with objects or like using powers such as stop the time or creating a shield to protect yourself against instakilling stuff but those are rare and their usage is barely noticeable, theres no actual puzzle or stuff to solve here that would award me me with something, for a platform game we only get 2 collectibles, a crystal currency to improve my damage and health points and the other is just a bunch of concept art photos.

It was a lie from the developers to compare or say this is a modern take on Banjo-Kazooie because despite the mumbo-jumbo language and the light-hearted vibe, this is more comparable to a lego game than anything else, you just walk around and fight enemies in a pretty linear way, theres no specific hub world or different stages, youre always going to a objective marker, the game is very linear and the gameplay is so simplistic it gets repetitive, I have no complaints about the art design, its colorful, detailed and beautiful, soundtrack is nice and the story is fine for a game like this, its a beautiful-looking and cute indie title, the shame part about it is that they choose the wrong gameplay to insert into the nice world they've built here, if the devs had an actual inspiration from the classics they said they were comparing this game to, maybe we coud have gotten an engaging and fun gameplay, instead of this extremely basic and simplistic repetitive boredom, theres personality and potential here but sadly once I finished the game I was already forgetting about what happened on it and I cant recommend it because of that, it was a very mediocre experience.

Good:
Story - So far, interesting.

Bad:
Bullsheet Lvl design - Everything is a 1 hit kill on the environment. Bushes kill you if you accidentally touch one and there are EVERYWHERE. There are other hazards too besides bushes but what is the point if everything kills you in 1 hit.

Bullsheet Jumps - You dont actually jump, You run towards a ledge and hope for the best. It should jump on its own but sometimes it doesnt, most of the time you are little bit off and many times you wonder where the f you should be going. When it does jump you have 0 control over it so more often than not you might be falling to your doom.

How angry can you get from bullsheet jumps and bullsheet cheap deaths? A LOT. I cant believe how bullsheet the mechanics and design for this game are. I am so angry and only played it for a bit more than 1 hr and a half. Most of that was replaying bullsheet sections with cheap deaths.

This game is S H I T.

PS: For real, the story was decent and wanted to know more. If you can get past the BS migh be worth it. Get it on sale if you must.

    Morlan's shorts:

A teen (or even jounger) audience, is more likely to enjoy this colourful adventure game. This doesn't necessarily mean though that other..generations won't appreciate it. Basically it is a feel-good game as the challenges are hardly taxing and you'd play it mostly for the story and the warm messages (and the silly over-colourfulness). The world looks nice, although it could do with a bit more colour, and the music suits the game nicely and is kind of transparent; it doesn't become tiring to listen to. Bar a few camera angle annoyances, knowing the simplicity of the gameplay you're walking into.. it could be fun (while on sale..)
Don't waste more time reading lengthy reviews.. time is of the essence!

Fun 3D platformish collectathonish game. I add the ish because it has some elements of what you would expect from those kinds of games.

A game a bought for my 4 year old's birthday, that has been absolutely perfect for him. At first I had to help him quite a lot, but now he plays the game flawlessly.

Nice story line, beautiful colourful scenery, charming mechanics, nice soundtrack: the game very much reminds me of an old PS1 game like Spyro or Croc.

One of those games you expect to be silly/too easy/for kids but no!! There is challenge throughout the game and it surprised me a lot! Nice intuitive mechanics and LOTS of humorous reference, from Monty Python to Bob Ross.
Congrats to the develop team. Reminded me of the days of Jak & Dexter or Ratchet and Clank.
