Prince of Persia:Warrior Within or how i like to call it the awakening of a rock fan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2F2KJi6sx0E&list=PL3avZ2d4JCYkmdafIil_n2AxD7bZjYDjx&index=7
Story:Following the first Prince of Persia, the Sands of time detroy the life of the prince again, this time in the form of Dahaka, the guardian of time which hunts the prince relentless,to survive you go to the island of time where you face the empress of time itself which btw she`s smoking hot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRoHeG2tpRs&t=97s
Gameplay:I love the Prince aesthetic and fighting style acrobatic but deadly showing what the prince had to go through being hunted,he`s also dark one could say edgier but the music oh my god the music well rocks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KY5_Qkf1AM&list=PL3avZ2d4JCYkmdafIil_n2AxD7bZjYDjx&index=96

It takes a bit of time getting Warrior Within to run on modern systems, but when you do its… a perfectly sufficient Prince of Persia game. For the positives, it does improve on the gameplay compared to Sands of Time, mainly through a more involved combat system, such as secondary weapons, combos, and more useful sand powers.

As for the story, it’s darker and edgier than Sands of Time, which is either a positive or negative depending on who you're talking to. There are a few twists to the story, and it feels coherent and interesting enough aside from some potential plot holes, even if the game ends on a cliffhanger to promote the next game in the series.

The two big problems with Warrior Within are that, despite its improvement to the combat, it just keeps throwing enemies at you to the point of tediousness, even with the added variety when fighting. Additionally, there are some major bugs and glitches that could make it impossible to finish the game, making multiple save files practically necessary.

Warrior Within is a fine enough Prince of Persia game, though not as good as the first entry. I do recommend it, but that recommendation for Warrior Within is more tempered than its predecessors.

The last time portal bug where you push the empress to fight her in the present. You cannot follow her through the portal. Tried restarting and reloading a different save but to no avail. I remembered playing and finishing this in a non-steam version over a decade ago and I had no problems like this.

It's the pinnacle of the classic trilogy... It's really stupid not to make a remake of this game. I don't want to give the wrong impression. The game is absolutely fantastic as it is. It takes you away with its story, graphics and various mechanics it offers. But I can't help but think how big of an impact a modernized version would have on today's gaming world. Ubisoft would have done a really smart job if they stopped the madness of constantly producing duplicate Assassins Creed games and made a Remake of this game.

The second entry in one of my favorite Ubisoft franchises. By many considered the best Prince of Persia game ever, and deservedly so. This was the second time I finished the game, and I can say that I didn't enjoy it like first time, but not because the game is bad, it's because this version of the game had bugs and glitches.

The story takes place after the events of The Sands of Time but its atmosphere and approach is quite different. In contrary to the first game, where everything was in light mood and atmosphere, this part gets really darker and more sinister. And it's reasonable - because The Prince is running for his own life, being chased by one of the most memorable entities in PoP franchise, The Dahaka, the guardian of the timeline.

The improvements from its predecessor are evident, both in terms of graphics and gameplay. The cutscenes are now much more better-looking than the ones from TSOP and gameplay is more fluid. Of course, as every combat system in original PoP trilogy, this one too gets repetitive over time, but I can tell you, it's a better job than the one from The Sands of Time. Mainly because there are new things such as better combo attacks, new sand powers and enemies that don't take ages to kill. The biggest improvement in gameplay are the boss fights, but this time with health bars. TSOP had only 1 boss and 1 mini-boss but they weren't so memorable as the ones in Warrior Within.

On the downside, this version of the game suffers from some really bad bugs that kind of ruined the overall experience and atmosphere for me. It's not that is unplayable, but it is quite annoying. For example, rewinding time gets bugged and you can get stuck to one spot or you can't rewind time at all (even though your sand tank isn't empty). Also, sound can get bugged too. The subtitles and voice acting are often out of sync and the OST can get glitched. I had Dahaka chasing me, with the music on and then I would use the rewind and the music would stop out of nowhere.

All in all, Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within is a true Ubisoft classic and is a great game. I would recommend getting it on some other platform rather than on Steam, for the highest experience that you can get. The only reason my review is negative is because I didn't enjoy the Steam version.

This sequel reassembled formula of Prince of Persia series making it's tone much more darker and modern. As a result it lost that iconic fairy tale atmosphere of the original games. But this game is just a product of its time and most of us who were teens in 2000s really admired it. Also its overall dark tone is much closer to the actual Persian mythology. And with all this modern take on the series, the prince himself also changed his appearance here to kinda bad boy style. As a result, his portrayal also became more sexualized. The same can be said also about female characters (even that it was already kinda a thing in the previous game). And that's actually very cool. I am not sure if such game would even be released today LOL. So, this is just a perfect sequel and a true classics.

Classic Game with great Storyline

Prince of Persia (POP) franchise is a must have for anyone who loves Platformer/Adventure games. I played POP originally as a MS DOS game on a Windows 95 black and white PC. :)

Pros:
-Great storyline, a hollywood movie is based on this franchise.
-Loved the new characters
especially Dahaka.
-Artwork is excellent.
-
Alternate endings are great.
-Works on old GPUs and even APU/IGP
-Assassin's Creed series originated during during sequel planning for POP Sands of time.

Cons:
-May require few tweaks on modern hardware to render properly.
-As it is a very old release, updates/fixes will not come.
-Mouse left button died due to too much sword fights :)

Before even thinking of playing: You have to change the compatibility service pack to Windows XP Service Pack 2 in the .exe file. Also, out the cine files folder, cut out the 0102.BIK. That movie sequence will 100% crash the game. Could be great if Steam sold games that were not corrupt.

After playing the entire collection that's available on Steam I'm giving a short review on all of these.

A lot more of a darker tone than Sands of Time, and a lack of the adventure feeling. There's a lot of room backtracking as it basically takes place in one island with ruins. Not something I'm much of a fan of.
The music is absolutely killer, however. Absolutely awesome metal soundtrack that fits the tone, more dynamic and interesting combat with the ability to pick up enemy's weapons and chain together some great combos.

You'll again need a widescreen patch for this game.

This game is my childhood's game, and I very love this one, even I have a ridicilous memory with this one lol; When this game was newly relased it, (I was around 5-6 years old) my dad opened this game for me and left me with it, And when it comes to boss fight with the ship in girl, I couldn't beat her and I was so got annoyed, I stabbed the screen with a screwdriver. Yes in the end my father very pissed of. XD But the thing is after the so many god's fucking sake years, I wanted to remind myself this nostalgia again. And guess what, THIS FCKIN GAME IS LIKE BUG FULLED OCEAN. I can't reach my last saved game, freezes even I turned off my headphone, crashes like several times and sadly I couldn't able to play it and I am so sad about it. But my heart wouldn't let me press the ''No'' button and yes I would anyway recommend it and wishing u guys nice gameplay experience. :) <3

Prince of Persia is what I'd say is probably one of the most fun platforming games to come out in the last 20 years. I played it as a kid on my PS2, so there's the nostalgia factor. Warrior Within in particular is probably my favorite, as it improved a lot of mechanics and features from Sands of Time. The dark and gritty (edgy, really) tone of the game is a far-cry from the much lighter tone of the SoTfor but personally I enjoy the setting and the game's metal soundtrack.

The combat, is this game's metaphorical butter if the parkour is the bread. I don't know where the music fits into it, let's just say it's also the butter. I'll compare this to Assassin's Creed (the old ones), because that's about the closing thing to it. Instead of the simplistic yet cool one button to win combat, Warrior Within gives you a solid variety of combos, throws, and other abilities around bending time to your will (in and out of combat). You can run up to a guy, do a sick vault over him and then cut him in half on the way down. Better yet, vault over him and disarm him, then cut him in half with his own weapon and use it to fight more sand dudes. Combat is significantly more difficult compared to AC, and you'll be wanting to mix up your swings and throws to say, stun some enemies so you can focus on this one guy. In hard mode, where guys take at least 10 swings to kill, this is preferable. (Or just utilize the game's hidden easy button called Eye of The Storm, which just slows down everything around you. It trivializes a lot of fights and you unlock it pretty early in the game.

The story itself I'd say is pretty solid. You've probably played Sands of Time already, and if not, you should because it provides context that WW doesn't really take the time to explain (SoT is a great game and is also worth playing). After the events of Sands of Time, the Prince finds himself chased by an unstoppable timekeeper called the Dahaka, who wishes to kill him to restore the timeline to its original state. So the Prince goes to the creatively named Island of Time to find a way to stop it.

You get to encounter the Dahaka throughout the game in short, but fun chases where either the game's own theme will play, or you get treated to the instrumental of Godsmack's I Stand Alone. Edgy, but cool.

Graphically, it looks great, especially for a game that came out in 2004.

The game shouldn't have any issues being run on modern PCs, at least I haven't encountered any. I recommend playing with a controller, and that was a rather annoying 10 minute process to set up. You'll also want to get a wide-screen patch for the game, which is thrown around in a few guides and isn't hard to find.

All in all I give this game a 9/10. Lord knows when Ubisoft will stop trying to make Assassin's Creed but and comes back to PoP (this is unlikely). Easily worth the $10.

You cannot change your fate. No man can.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is the second entry in the rebooted cinematic platformer trilogy, bringing significant enhancements to the combat system, a large, continuous map, and one of the most hilarious tonal shifts in gaming history.

I am… the architect of my own destruction…

There’s a modest improvement of the visuals on most fronts. Textures overall are sharper and more varied, especially on the characters, and there are a couple of rather impressive vistas to be enjoyed at several points in the Fortress of Time. A subtle desaturated filter washes out colors apart from greys and blues in Present segments, while the Past is dominated by gold and red. Enemies employ improved particle effects and even gore and dismemberment, which provide a satisfying combat report. The pre-rendered cutscenes are significantly improved in choreography and general quality; the same can’t exactly be said of the in-engine sequences, where it’s all too obvious the Prince’s teeth are entirely blacked out, and some other facial animation such as closing eyelids are bugged or otherwise clip in uncanny manners. Other graphical bugs are present in the form of hostile crows sometimes only having visible shadows, while rewinding may leave spike traps poking upwards.

As with The Sands of Time, this port is far from ideal. You still all but require a widescreen patch to enjoy higher resolutions, cutscenes tend to have audio desync or have only background noise during certain segments, and without extensive workarounds you can’t make use of overlays such as Steam’s. If anything, the built-in hardware detection tool makes even running the game a hassle: my system with a Ryzen 9 3900X, 64GB RAM, 1070 Ti and Windows 10 Pro is deemed below specifications due to the processor. A workaround I’ve found is to leave the detection window open, and run the game from its executable directly – upon which it’s a smooth affair, with a locked 60fps on 1440p max settings.

For Babylon!

Gone is the Arabian Nights - inspired musical style of the previous game, now replaced by a set of hard rock and metal tracks with much subtler Middle-Eastern influence. In their own right, the soundtrack is actually excellent, and also varies across the locales and time periods the Prince traverses through. Meanwhile, voice acting has seen a small drop in delivery quality: our protagonist has a different voice actor, and speaks in a more mundane and direct fashion than his previous iteration, to the detriment of his character to some extent. Thankfully, audio levelling is drastically improved, and the inclusion of subtitles make accessibility and clarity a non-issue. Lastly, the sound effects library remains of good quality, with the weapon-hit sounds being satisfying throughout.

When a man is faced with his own death, he finds the impossible less of a barrier.

Following the events of The Sands of Time, the nameless Prince is hunted continuously by the unstoppable guardian of the timeline, the Dahaka, for cheating his fate when he was meant to die. He embarks on an expedition to the Island of Time, with the goal of travelling back through time and preventing the creation of the cursed Sands. While the Prince’s determination to avert his untimely demise is admirable, it comes at the cost of poor player-to-character connection; he seldom expresses regrets over his actions or over the collateral damage that his haunting brought upon his people.

Oh, and lest we forget: seven-second-long butt-first introduction. Because the best way to set the tone is with an unskippable introduction of a minor villain’s scantly armored posterior during the prologue’s ship boarding. When the themes of decay, darkness and death aren’t enough, we also have borderline sexual material, whether by the aforementioned introduction, or by seemingly sadomasochistic assassins featured as common enemies… not to mention how most foes wear leather predominantly.

You should be honored to die by my sword!

Yet at last, that tricky presentation stuff is out of the way. The combat system has seen a massive, and absolutely welcome, expansion. Beyond the quality-of-life improvements in starting and ending combat, the Prince’s already dazzling acrobatics become a mainstay of his offensive and defensive capabilities. The player can choose to perform powerful immobilization and crowd control maneuvers on single opponents, or brandish a secondary weapon to unleash devastating combination attacks. General combat becomes a dance of spinning blades and somersaults, when one grapple leads into a spectacular leap, execution and weapon steal, as just one example. Weakened foes become resistant to basic sword slashes, which is where the expanded abilities turn most useful. Just be careful of ripostes: they’ve been changed to require blocking and attacking right after an enemy strike, instead of just before.

Actual level traversal has been minimally changed, insofar as the Prince’s general acrobatics are roughly similar to those displayed in the previous title; ropes to extend wallruns are a decidedly modest addition. Meanwhile, the setting displays tropes befitting the Metroidvania genre. The map is continuous and sprawling, requiring equipment upgrades and, most notably, making use of Time Portals to change between two time periods. Pathways open or close, and mechanisms crumble or return to life, which allow our Prince to experience deadly traps and arenas multiple times over.

Defying spike pits and sliding saw blades is just as fun the first time as it is several hundred times later – just be mindful of the camera. It likes to change angle at very inopportune times to show a more “cinematic” angle of the action, at the cost of your actual heading. Thank goodness your time shifting abilities remain intact. Also, the map screen is regrettably poor, since it only ever shows a basic objective and your location in a vague part of the Fortress, so getting lost is a possibility.

But now, an unstoppable beast chases you…

At several points, the Dahaka manifests and chases the Prince, hell bent on erasing him from existence. What follows are the game’s other highlights, beside combat. Dahaka sequences are usually short, yet extraordinarily intense gauntlets with a terrifying incentive to not slow down. Just be mindful of a singular prompt to save the game after a later boss fight; you don’t want to be left with no Sands of Time to recover from mistakes.

You are quick, mortal. Quick to die!

Replayability has seen a big improvement over the predecessor. On top of a ten-hour runtime for a first playthrough, concept artwork for environments and characters can be unlocked by smashing treasure chests. A huge arsenal of secondary weapons, encompassing swords, daggers, maces, axes and even silly implements, can be viewed as extra content in addition to their use in murdering the opposition. Most importantly, there are two endings to unlock; the alternative ending requires all life upgrades to be collected. This can easily add up from an hour to over double the regular play time, and it is a genuinely great experience throughout.

All who have come before you have fallen.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within’s significant change in tone and presentation don’t detract from the brilliance of its gameplay. Exercise caution with the port quality.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is another great sequel to the Prince of Persia series. I think what I liked most is the emphasis on the two different time periods you play through but a very close secondary enjoyment is the improved combat and weapon system with way more abilities and ways to execute enemies. If you know the Prince of Persia series, Warrior Within provides a fun experience with a heavier combat focus than previous entries to the series but also provides a darker and more arrogant story and main character that is unlike many of the previous entries. I would definitely recommend this game but lets be honest, if you are looking at this review you are probably playing through the whole series and would play this title anyways!

Always only Nr. 3 of the Trilogy & only played once before (Spoiler Warning)

But now i like it more than before.

++ Story is good (you can get Good or Bad Ending or Sand Wraith)

++ Sound is Good

+ Graphic is satisfying (Past & Presents Level Design)

+ Gameplay is okay too, sometimes Control & Camera could be a little bit better but u have Close, Far, Deep Angle & Ego View

+ Boss Fights, some are okay but some feel very similiar likeShahdee 1 & 2 & Time Impress 1 & 2 or normal Gigant & Unique Giant. I like the fight of the Gryphon & Dahaka is even on Easy a real Challenge

+ many well hidden Chests for Game Illustrations

+ 5 unique secret Weapons (Glove (Rayman?), Hockey, Teddy Light Saber) but sadly even if you SAVE with it, if you reload the Save, its gone)

+ 9 well hidden Life Upgrades

+ a lot of Main Sword Upgrades that make Fights vs lower Enemys faster (if you dont run & avoid them completly)

+ endless Saving Spots

- no F12 Screenshots

- a little bit feeling repetitive with Enemys, Past/ Future, Sand Wraith Run

- only 6 Sand Container, i think Sand of Time i had 11?

- Level Design isnt that rememberable like in Sand of Time Places

-sometimes you feel lost where to go next, what to do exactly, how to fulfill some Puzzles (a little more Hint Help like Sand of TIme Future View would be good)

-could have sometimes a few more Water healing Points

Its nice to finish it a second Time, now with both Endings. Its really surprise me that this Run i enjoyed more that the Original One 2004. Buy it with a Discount & hopefully enjoy it like me.

Prince of Persia Warrior Within is a masterpiece of a sequel and for that I love it. They give a solid reason as to why the Prince is depressed as fuck, and enough for him to call Shadee a bitch because she is one.
Combat is improved by A LOT, and so is the platforming. It has the most unique way of handling the open world environment and the backtracking isn't that bad because you're running around doing cool shit anyways. Please give this CLASSIC a chance, and you will love it.

The game is really awesome. If you meet the system requirements, the game won't crash. The graphics and fight scenes are breathtaking. The boss fights are good too athough a bit repetitive. The storyline is really good and the missions do have meaning corresponding to the story. You will experience real fear in Dahaka chases:) There are 2 endings possible and you have a choice which one you want. Exploring the map is fun. The details are really good too. Overall, this was definitely worth the money!!!!

Played this game after like 10 years and the combat system is still one the best out there. So many combos and the fluidity of the prince in combat feels so good, I had forgotten how addicting that was (Back in 8th grade i used to try parkour coz of this game haha). The soundtrack just adds to the gameplay and make the fights so much more fun. There are a few issues with the control here n there, but nothing that would be a big issue.

Overall i enjoyed this game a lot and would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys action/ adventure games to try this.
Also i hope this game gets a remake like SOT is getting.

A relic of games from an old age, where they weren't afraid of being games and having some kick ass sound track, PoP: WW is most likely the darkest of the series, with difficult enemies that require you to use all of your arsenal to combat, this game isn't going to let you play casually.

A captivating story that takes place straight after the first game with the prince trying to save his fate, time is simply a concept as you jump back from the past and to the present in hopes to preventing your own demise.

I must say that the game's controls were difficult at first and that I even considered dropping the game, I played it back then when I was younger and I thought the game didn't age well compared to many others, but it isn't the game but the players nowdays that have, and I actually felt it with this game, tutorials aren't as prominent, you're forced to learn things through trial and error, I myself had to spend 2 whole hours playing and getting used to the game so that I could actually enjoy it, and it was worth it.

If you've played the PoP series before and feel like getting a nostalgia trip, this game is really fun, if you haven't played it before and want to feel like what REAL games were like, pick it up, but don't give up on the first obstacle like I did at first, this game is very well worth the time!

This game is really great. In my memory it was perfect since i played it many many times as a kid. However, I can now see some of its flaws, such as a sometimes imprecise control scheme, specially during the platform sections; and the plot does not stand out at all unlike in the first game. Despite this, the gore, the incredible combat system, the awesome soundtrack, the replayability (tons of collectibles to find and each one of them grants you an illustration from the game, plus it has 2 endings) and the atmosphere of the game make it one of the best action/adventure experiences from the ps2 era

I have to play the game via the .exe and not Steam because the game crashes for me on loading screens when I run it through Steam. Also it doesn't seem to like XBOne controllers; I had to tick off the controller in Steam and manually bind controls in-game. Was a bit of a hassle getting the game to run the way I wanted it to, but maybe this review will help out folks in the future.

A more darker tone compared to Sands of Time but it is a great game with better combat mechanics, new parkour mechanics, a good story and awesome soundtrack.

The only bad things for me are the overuse of grey and the confusing progression with a poorly implemented map.

The port is not that great, search the PCGamingWiki of this game and get the Widescreen Fix. Still you can get some audio issues as missing songs or the audio not being synched with the cutscenes.

Also you will need to do the mapping of the controller in the game settings if you want to use a controller.

Recommended.

BUT SERIOUSLY, There is a corrupt cutscene that makes the game crash ! Yes, fixing it is pretty easy, SO FIX IT YOURSELF BEFORE SELLING A BUGGED GAME. JESUS ! IS IT THAT COMPLICATED TO DO ?
FIXING ONE TINY CORRUPTED CUTSCENE ? AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS ?

It's freaking ridiculous. You should be ashamed to sell a bugged old game for 10€.

Warrior Within was hated back on release, solely because of its dark aesthetic. The Sands of Time was a cute Arabian Nights like fairy tale with an Aladdin like prince and his female companion exploring a pretty palace under the moonlight, but here you have a rugged prince with a permanent scowl on his face (and a very foul mouth), half-naked babes, a nu metal soundtrack (courtesy of Godsmack) and a very gloomy Dark Souls like setting. However, once people stopped raging over the tonal whiplash many quickly realized that Warrior Within was a massive improvement on the formula in almost all of its aspects. It's probably still overall the best game in the trilogy, and definitely the hardest.

The first and most apparent improvement is the combat. You can no longer just spam 3 moves and get by. The dagger of time is gone, you use a sword + various breakable weapons that you pick up from fallen foes, this results in a dual wielding system where you chain attacks from both weapons. The prince's moveset is much larger, both acrobatics and especially combo wise. There's a large list of combos (fighting game fans will be very happy) and of course different enemies are weak to different tactics. The amount of things you can do is truly impressive, e.g. you can grab enemies by the neck and strangle them for an easy one shot kill, provided you don't get interrupted. The time powers are still there, even with the dagger gone. The rewind is the same, the slow-mo became much more useful in combat, and the mega freeze got replaced by a knockout AoE that only consumes one sand tank.

Another improvement lies in the level design. The first game was largely one single corridor from start to finish with no deviations whatsoever. Warrior Within on the other hand takes place in a large fortress on an island and it's semi-open world, metroidvania style. There's a map, you get an objective or two and then try to reach them on your own, the game doesn't hold your hand anywhere as much. The game also takes place in two timelines, so you get to explore both past and present versions of most areas. Yes, this also means backtracking and it can be annoying, especially when you have to redo the same platforming challenges, but overall it's definitely more interesting and challenging than the first game. And speaking of the platforming, just like the combat, the difficulty was increased. Many sections require split second reaction to dodge traps, and more importantly there are now survival horror like chases where you have to escape an unkillable monster, these are definitely a highlight of the game.

The only major downside is still the very horrible camera. Yes, it still keeps changing angles every 5-10 steps and gets stuck on walls all the time. Another thing and a bit of a spoiler, you need to collect all 9 life upgrades to access the final boss and the true ending, and some of those upgrades are hidden rather well. It's just 9 spots though, look up a guide and save yourself the headache.

The PC port aged well enough. The texture resolution is twice larger than the console versions, so it's still the definitive version. There's a small number of technical issues you might run into on a modern machine and I've compiled an easy to follow guide on how to deal with them. With a fan patch applied the game supports proper HOR+ 16:9 (without any glitches or stretched HUD) and can run even at 4K. Modern Xbox/Playstation controllers work out of the box but you need to set the mappings yourself, which is no big deal.

It WAS my one of the favourite games of all time. So I bought it on steam and played again using keyboard and mouse.
Camera is perhaps the most terrible thing I have EVER witnessed. The camera switches 180 degree in middle of a wall run. And suddenly your sense of direction is messed up and Mr Dahaka makes you his snack.
The soft camera lock on Bosses is just the most painful thing I have ever witnessed. Dialogues do feel odd many times.
Still finished the game in 17 hours on Hard difficulty.
Nostalgia is a bad thing. I am angry at this game but despite it's huge flaws, it's still one of my favourite games of all time.

Hope Sands of Time Remastered will be well received and sells because Warrior Within fully deserves one next. It just needs graphical enhancement, camera control fixes and some tweaks here and there but rest needs to remain untouched so it does not lose the magic... Perhaps add more gore to it and finishing animations but its good with what we got .

Now regarding this one I truly believe its the best from the series. It tried something bold and from the story perspective it makes sense they went that way. But sadly people were afraid of new back then and this game had a huge undeserved bad reception. It took the best things from Sands of Time, and improved the worst aspect of it like combat and made it the highlight of the series with huge combo list , finishers , moves and so on , you could never get bored . Also they added horror element to it in the best way possible. I replayed it and as soon first Dahaka scene came in, my heart still raced like crazy like it did back in 2004. They also improved the secrets and the content outside the main story so this time around exploration is encouraged if you want to find artwork, new weapons and stuff plus Life upgrades are really exciting and so rewarding once you get past the traps.

Overall Ill list the pros and cons if you skipped the wall of text above:

PROS:

-Combat :huge improvement over the Sands of time, with tons of moves and satisfying combinations
-Story: its straight forward but it makes sense
-Dahaka: he is truly the highlight of the series ,a nightmare immortal and nightmare inducing creature
-Music: the score during the combat and especially when you explore the vast castle, gardens and mechanical towers
really boost the experience
-Exploration: there is plenty of varied areas , you never really feel like you stay too much in one place, and having tons of
secrets and hidden places it encourages you to explore
-Life Upgrades: I always loved how rewarding finding them is, especially after you get past the deadly traps toward the end
and you feel like you truly earn that upgrade.

CONS:

-Graphics (sadly it has not aged well, and playing it in 2020 requires some tweaking resulting in poor cutscene quality since they are stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 )
-Camera ( its still huge pain like i remember back then, making you die so often when you explore or during the chases)
-Map: The way it was made its really confusing when you have to backtrack and you will never bother with it
-Backtracking: now I got used with the areas and I know where to go, but for new players it can get really confusing at times of where are you supposed to go and you will get lost easily wondering where to go next. I know it because it happened to me too , and it can feel like spending time too much going back to areas you visited before just because you did not have the right sword to get past a door .

Overall in my opinion I think the series peaked there because Two Thrones beside adding new things, it also took out what made Warrior Within great and that is combat and he horror element , plus if you look closer and compare 1st one with 3rd its really just Sands of time 2.0. I totally recommend playing it even in 2020 for the Dahaka chases alone.

P.S. I got all 5 Prince of Persia games and I recommend you only to get the trilogy . Prince of Persia 2008 is really bad and Forgotten Sands its not worth getting because of DRM issues that makes it impossible to play today . Thanks for reading and enjoy .

My love for this game will never die,
Played it when I was kid, played it when I was in highschool, now I'm 23 and still playing it, this was my first every PC game and honestly, this game and md has an emotional contact ???? I finished it more than 5 times and now playing it again, this was the time when Ubisoft actually knew how to create games, the music, the environment, the characters and specially dahaka mofo, man if you're looking at my review, go for it without any hesitation, Graphics were revolutionary in that time and still doesn't feel out dated, so, if you are looking for a great story game, go for it, I would recommend you guys to play the trilogy once, you'll fall in love with the story ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Self-quarantine brought me back here....

Remember the old times when Ubisoft made great games? PoP:WW is one of them. For me, Warrior Within is the best PoP from the sands of time trilogy. Many people hate Warrior Within because of the dark and edgy theme, they think the game is a little bit plain. But for me, that's what I want. Fighting dark monsters with metal music on the background, running away from Dahaka while godsmack instrumental blasting in my ears. Now that's what you called a good game, good job Ubisoft.

Eventho this game is old, the quality isn't that bad. There are few bugs (classic Ubisoft) but it doesn't ruin the gameplay, just few glitches here and there. Now the controls, for me it's decent? I guess? I've finished this game (on steam) twice, the first one using keyboard and mouse, then the second time I use my joystick controller. The keyboard and mouse controls are fine to me, but since it's partial controller support it's kinda annoys me a little bit when I use my joystick (still ok tho).

Since there's no achievement and trading card (not even save cloud), I don't recommend you to buy on full price. But meh, it's up to you...

I want a remake, pls make it happen Ubi. 8.8/10

In my ongoing and likely futile effort to write a Steam review for every game in my library (#468 out of 612)... it's time for Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within.

The Warrior Within is the second game in the Prince of Persia reboot series, none of which—infuriatingly—bother numbers. They just didn't need them. Well, you know what? Screw you: you DO need numbers. So go tell your marketing department to stuff itself, Ubisoft.

To clarify for anyone who doesn't want to waste their time double-checking Wikipedia, the appropriate order for the four games is as follows:
1. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
2. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
3. Prince of Persia: Two Thrones
4. Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands

So, the review proper:

Don't bother playing Warrior Within if you haven't first played Sands of Time. And even then, maybe consider giving this one a skip. Most of the elements of Sands of Time that were good there remain good here, but the story... it takes a bit of a nosedive. Warrior Within is from that awkward period in the mid-2000s when game publishers decided game characters needed to be all dark and edgy: so here we get the exceedingly cringey Emo Prince.

I dunno. The game is solid, but the story is goofy as hell and most of it would be extremely embarrassing to sit through with anyone else in the room. Hell, even if you're playing it alone, it's hard not to be embarrassed on the part of all the developers whos names are attached to the project.

I had a bit of trouble deciding whether or not to recommend this title or not, as I've generally been pretty forgiving of the Prince of Persia games in spite of their faults. Warrior Within is silly, but not a bad game exactly. But, as I've mentioned in my reviews of its siblings, this PS2 port is somewhat shoddy. The game only supports 4:3 aspect ratios and has great difficulty recognizing modern gamepads. It barely warrants mentioning for a somewhat-floaty third person platformer, but controlling the game with a keyboard and mouse is an unmitigated nightmare. If you want to get any mileage out of the PC port at all, expect lots of fiddling with settings and external workarounds and even then know that you're going to have to deal with not-infrequent bugs and crashing.

Getting the game to play well is possible, but requires a considerable amount of effort and no small amount of frustration. Unfortunately the PS3 remasters are in an even sorrier state, so ultimately I'm forced to inform you that the definitive version of the classic Prince of Persia games remains the original Playstation 2 originals.

Note: also played on Sony Playstation 3.

[First things first] This is a 2004 game, so you'll need:

> Universal Widescreen Patcher
> Set a custom controller option from the ones found in Big Picture.
> Do a bit of K+M in certain parts (e.g. saving game).
> Pay no attention to the Ubisoft launcher.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By far the best chapter of the Sands of Time trilogy.
No repetitive minimalistic combat,
no pseudo-stealth quick time events,
awesome Stuart Chatwood-Inon Zur soundtrack,
and the most useless map in a game to date.

No Templars-versus-Assassins stupidity,
no hand-holding bollocks,
no cultural diversity bullshit,
Everything to love from a now long-lost era of gaming and above all,
one HELL of a challenge not suited for the politically correct vultures.

One Prince to rule them all.

One of my favourite games, a total revolution of the adventure game genre that still stands strong today, i would love to have a remaster of JUST THIS ONE of the pop trilogy.

Story - 9/10
Characters - 10/10
Gameplay - 10/10
World - 6/10
Atmosphere - 5/10

You will need a widescreen fix, a fps limiter (30fps otherwise the cutscene audio will be delayed)
and a guide for all life upgrades, which not only make the game easier, but also unlock the canon ending.

- Again, as in the Sands of Time, the story is quite simple. Prince is being hunted by a demon for playing with time so he travels back in time to kill the sand's creator, to prevent everything from happening, thus making him never touch the dagger in the firs place. There is a lot of timetravel this time and as much as I hate this element in stories, Warrior Within does a good job at making it believable, not stupid and more or less easy to follow the time interventions. Prince is more mature this time around. He had some years of waging wars behind him. He is still cocky but simultaneously serious as he is on a quest to save his own life. He won't have a companion this time, the new girl is just waiting for him to do everything on his own. But not every women in games needs to be Lara Croft.

- Gameplay hasn't changed much since the first game with only few more mechanics, which however make it more engaging. Combat especially. Also new, more interesting time powers have been added Camera still acts weird from time to time.
- Environment is a little bit dull. It changes often, yes, but all areas are grey and depressive, plus it is not always clear where you should go. This somewhat slows the game down.
