Jonathan Moon erhält einen Brief von seiner seit einem Jahr vermissten Ehefrau. Mithilfe der Informationen aus der Nachricht begibt er sich zum Anwesen in der Einöde. Zur gleichen Zeit findet im Haus eine Zeremonie des geheimnisvollen Kultes statt.
Im Anwesen öffnen sich die Tore zu einer anderen Welt - der entarten und lästerlichen Welt von Lusst’ghaa.

Die Spielwelt besteht sowohl aus einem Anwesen aus dem Viktorianischen Zeitalter als auch der Welt von Lusst’ghaa - einer fremden Dimension voller außerirdischer Geschöpfe. Das Spiel ist ziemlich langweilig und kurz (< 3 h Spielzeit). Die Wege sind fest vorgegeben, die meiste Zeit weiß man nicht was man tun soll (bis man merkt wo der Weg weiter geht) und die Hauptrolle kann kaum (sinnvoll) interagieren. Die Story ist auch nicht interessant.
Die Grafik ist ok. Es gibt ein paar Rätsel, aber die sind nicht schwer. An manchen Stellen muss man wegrennen.
Unüblich ist, dass ein Spiel so viele Sexszenen/Andeutungen hat. Aber das macht es jetzt auch nicht besser oder schlechter.

Man kann es mal spielen, aber ich würde es keinen weiterempfehlen. Ich hatte es jetzt während einer Aktion für < 2 Euro gekauft, da war der Preis angemessen.

Eine nette Idee muss man schon sagen , jedoch etwas kurz 2-3 Stunden und man ist durch .
Der Horror anteil fehlt auch sehr gering aus gab schon paar kleine Momente wo man sich erschreckt und einen Verfolgungsjagd hat wo man druck und Angst bekommt aber fällt in Gegensatz zu anderen Horror Games nicht so auf!
Die Inszenierung mit der Verbunden Lust und Sex hat einen guten Ansatz wird aber nicht so ausgearbeitet bis auf Spielzeug was man findet und die 2 -3 Orgien die nur Statische Szenen sind der Fokus liegt auf das unnormale (Göttliche) Szenario was sich in einer Art Dämonenwelt abspielt
Kann man aber jedenfalls Spielen für das Geld und die 15 Errungenschaften sind auch leicht zum Freischalten für Trophäen Jäger!

Interessanter Ansatz, Potential aber leider verschwendet. Für Lau war es okay, hätte ich dafür Geld ausgegeben wäre ich hart enttäuscht gewesen.

Tja, gar nicht so einfach dieses Spiel zu rezensieren. Ich hatte das Video gesehen und als das Spiel reduziert war zugegriffen. Die Einführungssequenz und die Zwischensequenzen sind wirklich gut gemacht, die restliche Grafik tendiert zwischen stimmungsvoll bis na ja. Und damit haben wir schon das Hauptproblem: Auch wenn einige Ideen nett sind, wirkt das Spiel an vielen Stellen eher unfertig. Angefangen wird mit ein paar minimalen Schleichsequenzen. Wer vom gewünschten Pfad abweicht wird entdeckt - selbst wenn ein Auto zwischen ihm und der Wache ist, ist man auf dem richtigen Pfad, darf man aber auch ruhig vor einer Laterne stehen und wird dennoch nicht gefunden. Die Wachen laufen strickte Pfade. Das wirkt ein wenig wie aus den allerersten Alone in the Darkness. Einmal den richtigen Pfad entdeckt, finden wir Verkleidung und Einladung und können uns weiter bewegen.
Die andere Welt in die wir bald abtauchen ist klein, ein wenig langweilig, auch wenn die Anfangsstimmung gut passt. Es gibt immer nur einen Lösungsweg und die Sequenzen sind jeweils kurz. Weicht man ab, geht es nicht weiter. Geht man z.B. zurück in die Villa ohne die Aufgaben in der anderen Welt gelöst zu haben, kommt man weder zurück noch kann man weiter spielen. Man benötigt also einen alten Spielstand.
Erschreckend ist wenig, das meiste eigentlich eher bekannt. Hier wurde viel Potenzial verschenkt und man merkt, dass es ein Indie-Produkt ist und kein Geld für die Entwicklung zur Verfügung stand.
Ob ich es empfehlen kann? Na, ja. Kaufen würde ich es nicht noch einmal. Bei dem Vollpreis hätte ich mich richtig geärgert. Wer nur 25% zahlen muss, kann es sich ruhig anschauen. Ansonsten würde ich sagen: Finger weg!

Für 1.49€ sind die Grafiken allein es für einen unterhaltsamen Abend Wert, für mehr Geld auf jeden Fall nicht.
Kein Gameplay, fragwürdige Story, schlechte Steuerung.

War ein wenig verunsichert, da die Reviews nur Ausgeglichen sind, aber ich fand es nicht schlecht. Es ist recht kurz, habe es in erster Linie gekauft, weil es die Vorgeschichte von Lust from Beyond / der (gratis) Prolog ist und mir dieser sehr gut gefallen hat. Es war Informativ und im Sale auf jeden Fall kaufenswert.

Man... I didn't wanna jack it or scream. I just wanted to quit every second I continued going in hopes that something enjoyable would arrive.

PROS:

THE ONLY ENJOYABLE thing about this game was the environment and layout, some of which was ripped from Layers of Fear, an actual spooky game. It was super crisp and clean, lighting was nice and realistic.
It's kind of funny how bad it is, but not funny enough to warrant buying. (Even on sale)

CONS:

Man, this list is super long.
There were like two unsettling scenes. None that were really scary minus another two jumpscares.
Finished the game in two hours.
A bunch of annoyingly irrelevant and overdramatic lore that just stops the flow of the game to make it seem far more deep and longer of a game than it is. DONT BE FOOLED.
Story is dumb.
Dialogue doesn't make sense 70% of the time.
Sex scenes are boring and stagnant.
The end game fight is nothing but being chased in a circle.
The end isn't even close to a satisfying cliffhanger or resolution.

I just can't get over how much time I feel like I wasted. Nothing about this game stood out or made me enjoy even a second of it. Kinda pissed for playing. There are way better and cheaper alternatives for something hot OR something horror.

One of the worst games I have ever played. Waste of money no matter how cheap it is. Game tries nothing more than simple jumpscare and no there is nothing sexual almost so dont buy it for such expectation. Witcher 3 has more than this game has. They tried to make Outlast but they just screwed it. It is full of pervertism and sick minded story. When I see the producers in the end, at the credits, well I am no more surprised.

It's not good, but not really bad either. About a 2 hour play through. It's a walking simulator with the occasional stealth part with poor mechanics. I guess there's a puzzle or two. The voice acting is pretty terrible, and I remember the odd typo here and there.

The atmosphere is pretty good. Half Lovecraftian, half Eyes Wide Shut. Graphics are decent. I didn't feel like it was necessarily as erotic or whatever as it's made out to be.

It has some parts that drag, and that's not good for a two hour game, but it has a strong opening. Kind of boring overall, but it's over quick.

Didn't finish because I couldn't.

Might not have bothered to leave a (negative) review if it was actually playable.

Ok, where to begin...

This game is horrible.

The plot is insulting to the player, it makes little sense and is so banal like it would be written by a teenager with writing aspirations but no skill what so ever.

For what it tries to present itself as, there is no good wank here. None at all. If you're hoping for some perverted action or scenes, you're not going to get it. The ONLY one that presents some value - you CANNOT GET CLOSE TO because that's a stealth part and you will get caught. Opening video is the best part of the game. After that its an amateurish... mess.

Gameplay is nonexistent. Puzzles (if you can call them that) are ridiculously easy. There are segments of the game where you load a new chapter, walk down a corridor and then you load another chapter with NOTHING happening in between.

Stealth scenes are infuriating. You get caught instantly if you enter the detection range and that's it, game over. Load the scene from the start. Not that it is hard, not at all, it just has zero interaction with the player. No indicator for detection. Pathetic.

Imagine that the most time consuming activity in this game would be opening drawers and cupboards (as there are tons of them together with tons of useless items you can look at and examine) but not in HUNDREDS of them there is something interesting, so your walking-simulator exploration obsession is just wasted. In the game there are total THREE drawers that contain some random dildo you can look at. Three. Out of hundreds. Nothing else.

The atmosphere is quite well set and that's the ONLY good thing in this game. The mansion does feel positively creepy in an Eyes Wide Shut sense, but that's about that.

Absolutely wasted effort. It is essentially Lust From Beyond game but unthinkably inferior in every possible way.

After unlocking all the side stories at the end that's when everything made sense. It's an interesting short game tho it kinda reminds me of the movie Eyes Wide Shut a little. But after playing this & understand it, Lust From Beyond here I come !

I’m so delighted to say that Lust For Darkness is the real deal. The fact that I can compare it to one of the greatest erotic thrillers of all time in Eyes Wide Shut, and not break down laughing, is in itself is a great credit to the developers. The game lacks the sheer mastery and refinement that Stanley Kubrick had over his canvas, but this is still leagues ahead of the clumsy, overly-simple idea of “horror” that most game developers aspire to.

I completed Lust for Darkness in the time that it took me to collect all the cards from it, so it's not a long experience. Its brevity makes maintaining consistent, tight quality that much more important, of course, but it fails to deliver.

LfD is, in spirit, if not in literal mechanics, a walking sim. You roam around classic spooky environments experiencing classic spooky plot points, and the initial idea - the only really GOOD thing behind it - of thematically fusing Lovecraftian horror with sex is an excellent one. However, where it falters in storytelling is that it doesn't seem to have anything to actually SAY about sex or hedonism. While you infiltrate a cult to learn more about your long-lost wife, you don't get a sense of the backgrounds of the members, what drew them to the religion, or what its god entails exactly. There's no real dark appeal to the lure of alien sex - I was left staring, confused, at why people found a spiritual calling to be murdered by giant penises or encased in flesh machines for no apparent benefit. There is potential in this story, but it lacks depth, its exploration is as superficial as the countless sex toys scattered about as stand-ins for dark eroticism.

The gameplay side of things isn't any stronger. Rather than embracing its walking sim nature to emphasize atmosphere and environmental detail, it seems to want to distract the player from the superficiality of its writing and environmental storytelling with equally limited and shallow mechanics. Some of them also have potential, such as a pair of masks that can drive you insane with prolonged usage - but you have no reason to wear them for extended periods of time. Others are pure time wasters, such as the variety of sliding picture-matching puzzles that ruin any cultivated atmosphere of otherworldly horror. But everything is half-baked, nothing is fleshed out.

Finally, the low budget also hurts the game's presentation to the point of destroying immersion. It doesn't handle the outdoor or otherworldly environments very well, and the indoors areas, while well-presented, all feel somewhat generic, populated with Unreal Engine-esque standard props instead of specific details that inform us about the characters and plot. Ordinarily I wouldn't care much about budget-related jank, since many creative devs can work around it to good effect, but here the seams are showing all over the place, and what's stretched on the framework is threadbare enough as it is.

Hate to say it, but I can't recommend Lust for Darkness, even if you're a fan of the genre and catch it on sale. It just doesn't have anything to offer that's worth experiencing. However, there are good ideas buried beneath the flawed execution, and one can hope that the developers will take this as a learning experience and do better next time around.

I found this game to be very disappointing. You would think that a Lovecraft/ erotic horror would be a good basis for a game, but after playing this I am starting to question wither it could be done well. I was just so board through the entire game. As a Horror game it is below average at best. The game is a series of set-pieces where you wander around aimlessly until you find the door that opens. You have no weapons against the extremely limited enemy's in the game which you would think would be interesting but nope. The few enemies that exist are very stupid and you can sprint past them easily to the next portal. The puzzles are far too easy when they exist (there are like 3). The setting could use some refinement, the sexual themes feel more crass and on the nose then anything else. I would spend your money elsewhere if you were looking for a decent game experience. Otherwise Pornhub is cheaper...

Well.. Did 100% and im still not fully sure how to feel. I liked Lust From Beyond Prologue the most from the 3 games that were aviable before the full Lust From Beyond came out (haven't played full LFB so can't rate for now).
This game is quite okay, it was fun at times but it was short, too short for it's price imo. Even without speedruning you can quickly finish this game.

Graphicly it's quite nice.
Music is beautiful.
Levels are made quite nicely but could be done a liiiiittle bit better.
Lenght of the game is too short as i stated above.
Voice acting could be a bit better but it wasn't that bad.
Enemies were eh meh kinda annoying but desing was interesting.

Overall i recommend it but not for the full price, take it while it's on sale or wait for another sale.

Anyone who can get involved in a game without screwing their own expectations to the max will experience one hell of a descent with Lovecraft hints here.
I had my fun finding and solving the background information.
But what is decisive here is the atmosphere! And this is created even with a short playing time, as is the case here.

I am very much looking forward to further releases from this developer!

Nice game that falls in to the walking simulator mold but does enough to avoid being classified as such by the skin of it's teeth. With environmental interactivity through puzzles, enemies to avoid & the player being an active participant in the story than some random Johnny learning what happened. It is too short though. I finished it under 2 hours after realising I accidentally skipped most of the side content.

It's weird how someone could come up with an idea of turning sweet delicious sex into something so macabre and gross. I mean I really dig the concept of another dimension where the only things that remain are perversion and lust - must be pretty fun if it's all in human form. But this? This was just hands down repulsive, I dunno what you gotta smoke to come up with deformed alien porn like that. I'm not complaining because I actually liked some parts of the story to an extent, but it's just bizarrely made, and the monster chases felt quite out of place. In any case, it's a trip alright but a pretty short one - the game is over before you know it. As for the bang for your buck, it doesn't really bang (pun intended) at 15 bucks. Grab it on sale or in a bundle or something, then it could be worth it.

Well that was incredibly dumb. What a disappointment. This 'game' is extremely linear, almost entirely devoid of choice and agency. I can forgive that in service of a good story, but it's lacking in that department as well. The writing, especially the dialog, is atrocious. No one talks like that. It's like a middle schooler's pretentious idea of what clever Victorian speech might sound like, even when the setting is in the modern day. And then there's the 'puzzles'. They're absolutely mindless: locks with the combination written on them, keys next to locks in the same or adjacent room. It is such a shame too because this could have been a much better game overall. For example, it takes place in the real world, and a separate realm, and if you move north in one realm before entering the other, you'll have entered in a more norhtern portion of the other ream. This concept has been done before, many times, it's nothing new, but it's done so poorly here. It's quite obvious how this could be used to make semi-thoughtful puzzles, but in this game, it is only used in very linear sections. So you go into the other realm to move beyond a lock in the normal realm, but never is it up to the player to figure that out, instead, it's just the only possible way to progress. The only positive I can mention is there is some decent lore and worldbuilding here. But the story you get to interact with in the game is much worse, and very predictable. Even the after credits scene was obvious. Lastly, there is the 'sexuality' of this game that might draw some people in. It's boring, restrained, and uninteresting. Lots of dildos and dicks, but the dev team is either too prudish to model a vagina, or too inept. Not that you'd want to see one, the lack of a decent skin shader or hair, makes this game visually about as sexy as jamming GI-Joes and Barbies together. I point it out just to show how banal and false this game's theme is. There is no depth to the characters in this game either, with the possible exception of the ones you read about but have no interaction with. Really there is nothing worthwhile here at all.

To begin with, this is not a sex game; this is a great horror game which focuses on the lore and story. I believe developers really love movies because not only you can see that on their name, but also this game opens up with a scene that looks like American Beauty, and if Stanley Kubrick wanted Eyes Wide Shut (not to mention the name of an achievement which proves this) to be a horror movie, It would exactly be something like the story of this game. Gameplay wise this is a walking simulator that sometimes requires you to solve some easy puzzles within it. There are some great jump scares and chase scenes and the story is good so you won't get bored.
Again I recommend you to play this game as a HORROR game.

Despite a spot of jank, lack of graphical polish, and some very minor performance issues - Lust for Darkness was a reasonably compelling game.

Though incredibly linear, venturing through the Mansion and Lusst'ghaa offers a surreal and more often than not, disturbingly erotic experience like few others. With an forthcoming sequel and two spinoff releases, the Lust series might just be the niche Erotic Eldritch Horror some like myself have been searching ages for.

I’m a massive fan of Adult games, always have been, and the day a developer with AAA+ production values can get their hands on an adult title, is the day I might be a very happy man, because erotic and erotic horror imagery can be repulsive, sickening and compelling all in one package. The potential is amazing, but with some societies still getting uppity over nudity, I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, and thus we have to put up with low-tier indie efforts like this;

Lust for Darkness examines the occult, a cult and otherworldly dimensions linked around lust and carnal pleasures. The Cult of Ecstasy is all about having a good time with some orgies etc, hoping to get into the demon dimension of lust for more extra-dimensional sexual exploits. It goes about as well as anything involving demons does, with gigantic phallic instruments being used to mortally impale them rather than pleasure them.

The concept is good, the execution is just crap. Voice acting is awful, the way the protagonist drawls out his swear words is comedically childish, like a child who just learned it is a rude word in my opinion, but the plot is too thin to do the game any service. It is like a plot outline that hasn’t been filled in, the game opens in the middle of goodness knows where and you’re not fully informed of the background of the protagonist or his kidnapped wife, so you never really relate to them at all. You’re thrown in to investigating this cult with no real motivation or interest. Indeed, most of the historical-story is hidden in collectibles, of which there aren’t that many anyway, but seeking them out doesn’t really have any payoff.

As for the ‘adult’ part of this game, it is so tame I’d put it as 16+ in Europe to be honest with you, yes, there is nudity – you get to see some flaccid penises and some tits, but you won’t be seeing any vulva's or erect penises unless they’re art pieces on pottery or are part of the furniture. You have to strain to see one or two on the actual models of ‘humans’ within the game, and the issue is, the graphical quality is so poor it is like watching badly drawn mannequins doing the deed. What doesn’t help is that these cultists have sex, oral, anal, vaginal, whatever, and they do it in slow-motion. It’s like, nothing akin to what sex is in reality, it is just so surreal it doesn’t really do anything for the player full-stop. And the big highlight of the game is one or two orgies (there's an achievement for spending 10 minutes watching one, which was akin to watching paint dry), which just happen to be a few scattered models of slow motion ‘sex’, it’s boring, it’s not even erotic, nor is it ‘horror’.

The demon world of lust is likewise let down hugely by the graphical design. Sure, there’s the odd giant penis and lots of imagery around the female genitalia, but most of the demon world is just metallic industrial design combined with what looks to be alien leaves. The resident demons are naked women in masks with swords for arms. Boring.

If you want erotic stuff look elsewhere. Visceral Games’ Dante’s Inferno’s lust level of hell for example is exactly what they should be aiming at; Hot sexy women, and suddenly this giant eff off spike-penis comes out of their vagina? Yikes, it’s erotic and frightening and unexpected. A vanilla demon with sword arms is as generic as it comes.

The game is also beset with technical issues, I had to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 8 to bypass a technical issue that dropped the framerate to 1fps! In the end… This lust for darkness is a damp squib, lacking any serious erotic or horror imagery, which leaves it as a fairly bland walking simulator with some poor porn added in, definitely not one to add to your Christmas wish-list.

I finished the game in about 3 hours and I didn't rush. But I don't think the shortness is a bad thing. Actually I think it has the right length. I'd feel 6 hours would be too long for it.(although 15€ may be too much, it goes for 1,50€ on discounts)

The game starts with some cliché light flickers and stuff, this almost made me stop playing but thankfully it doesn't reflect the whole game.

There are not a lot of jumpscares, but since I don't like the technique it could have been even less for my tasting. Also the game could have been a bit heavier on the erotic part.

Other than that I enjoyed the athmosphere, dialog, voice acting, story and even the quotes for the loading screens.

Well lets just say that you may not want to play this while the kids are up. Its not a dirty porno game but it does feature an eyes wide shut back drop. I am a big lovecraft fan and try to play all of the stuff that looks like it. I actually enjoyed this little game. Its not ground breaking but it had some moments. Still very worth a play if you want to take a dark alley shortcut off main street.

Even though biggus diggus and incontinentia buttocks can be pretty fun keening on context, Lust for Darkness for sure isn't. What you have here is much what you can expect from UE4 and Indie Dev + walking sim. Fps is dwindling all over the place, annoying chase phases, ugly visuals and predictable story. Guess mask features were at least something innovative.

Agony in comparison had actual gameplay, good amount of content and would say could be best to experience by rushing it through with martyr while taking your time as succubus. Here you walk through mansion and some lust dimension with demons and bit wacky looking lady/gent parts. Oh and there's orgy with achi to spent time there long enough, it was quite boring so did go have a piss in toilet and brewed some coffee.

Long story short yeah actually that's the best thing about this title. It's short.

This game is a steal for it's price! I got it at a 90% discount but would gladly have paid full price.

Firstly, it is mostly a walking simulator BUT it really is more than that, it's cleverly interactive at times, involves a few pretty cool puzzles and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It's very cinematic, the visuals and atmosphere are stunning and it's simple (mechanics and gameplay wise). In my opinion they did what Agony couldn't. I feel that they really captured the Lovecraftian look and feel and gave it what it deserves.

Story/plot - 7/10 (Basic but good and fairly original).
Graphics - 8/10 (Beautifully done).
Sound - 8.5 (Very immersive and at times quite scary).
Gameplay - 7/10 (Very basic but it works, no annoying glitches or gamebreakers).

VERY IMPORTANT - Play it alone with the lights off and with headphones, they also advise you to as the game launches. I'm sure it's what makes the game and whole experience shine :)

Looking forward to more from these guys!

TL;DR - I highly recommend this for it's price, especially if you enjoy the setting and the themes involved.

This game writes a lot of checks it can't cash. It's only about 2 hours long, unless you want to go achievement hunting. The plot is pretty standard: Your wife got kidnapped by cultists and it is up to you to save her from their cult mansion. They got portals to a neat, hostile alien biosphere there.

Really, it's the spOOoOOky dimension that sells this game. The mood is childish, there's no way to get around that. There's toys all over the damn mansion. Diesel engine f-machines. It's just too silly to be taken seriously or be scary. But it's got a spooky dimension.

Get it on 90% sale, like me. Otherwise, eh? If you really like opening drawers, it's the game for you. No... I can't recommend it. It looks like the sequel will be a whole lot better though and have an even spookier dimension.

It tries so hard and yet does only the bare minimum.
It tries to be Lovecraft with sex,but there is no lore, no plot, no realstory, no characters,no nothing but essentially the one scene from eyes wide shut and some tentacles and a little bit of gore. NOthing more, nothign less. It tries to be edgy, but it isn't even that, just shallow, blant and ultimately boring.

Pretty good horror game back from the days when walking simulators where popular - at least from the perspective of someone who usually avoid horrors. Although the beginning was much more spooky than ending. Maybe in the end I was too accustomed to theme.

Short, with easy but interesting puzzles.
A little cenzored but I guess this is allright - I was looking for sexualized horror, not for pornography.

I liked a lot the collectible background stories that explained a lot.

Dull Horror Walking Simulator.

The game is a walking simulator in its barebones with options for you to interact with objects during the course of the story. Its billed as an adventure game with your character travelling across some dimension of some weird cultist sex fantasy. Puzzle segments are there which are not hard. The story is decent. Th horror elements are minimal. Overall, its a decent game but not recommended because most of the gameplay is spent on walking or running from monsters in some segments.

Plot: Uriel Septim IV kidnaps your girlfriend into his Cyrodil Prison / Eyes Wide Shut mansion, you must infiltrate it and enter a series of kinky Oblivion Gates to set her free.

Gameplay: As far as walking simulators go, it's alright. Writing isn't spectacular or anything. I like the idea and execution though. It's not a porn game. It's risque, but the sexual content isn't the point of the game, it's just some spice on the top. Which honestly is good. There's something to be said for leaving stuff to the imagination and this game does walk that line. Yeah, it's not safe for work, but it's not Porn Simulator 2018 either. As far as horror goes, It's not super scary. Like, there's some body horror and a few jump scares.

Audio: It's not great. It's not awful.

Graphics: Go into the settings and remove the 30 FPS limit. Then you're golden.

Puzzles: Weakest aspect of the game. Go play the old Frogwares Sherlock games if puzzles are your thing. The games are janky as fuck and Watson is creepy, but they far superior puzzles.

I would give this game a negative review if i had bought it at full price but at like 1$ this game was definitely worth my time.. The graphics of the game wasn't bad.. The story was good too it wasn't completely guessable unlike some other games! The adult contents of the game might turn u on but you will get scared at the same time lol and i actually like the fact that its obvious where to go next that way people wont get lost.. Amazing cult horror game in general! But bcz of its short 3 hrs story time and other flaws i wouldn't get this at full price, that said i enjoyed this game a lot!

Erotic Horror short Story like in those cheap Horror Movies in the 90's.

It's not a bad thing at all, as it is mixing up H.R. Giger Design with Lovecraftian Story with a pinch on sex. It's an interesting, unique adventure.
Only catch, it isn't sexy at all. Which supposed to be what catches the players. As mature it tries to be, it fails to seduce. Silly animations, the masks, the lack of being explicit despite not censored. The bizarre scenes are more bloody gore, rather than actually bizarre kinky twisted fantasies as I had hoped for.
It is entertaining, and fun to look at the devs creation nevertheless.
And as sex is still so rare and in video games, without modding at least, it is nice to see a developer venture this field and tries something new. There is plenty potential in this theme.

It is a short game, but with good story and enviroment. Dark, deep, and with some Lovecraftian inspiration of the Elder Gods, but this time is all related to pleasure, sex and ecstasy. It is not hard, and you won't be able to shoot or kill anything, you will just walk, interact with items, read notes for a better understanding of the world Lust for Darkness is setted in, and enjoy the art, figures and world this game has to offer. If you complete the sidestories by collecting notes you will be able to see 3 extra cinematics that tell you more about the story and the Gods. If you want to see how all the set up is you can download the Prologue of the sequel for free and give it a try to see if you like it.

If you are sensitive to the first person sickness I won't recommend you to play this, you could have a bad time with the camera. The first time I played it felt really weird to me, but after a little while I got used to it and I could enjoy the game.

Recommend you to wishlist and wait for a sale as this game goes stupidly cheap (got it with Agony in a bundle for nothing), and you will not regret it if you like the enviroment of the game.

Finally a game that is erotic but not lewd. The way the game intertwine intimacy and horror is amazing, and it paints a glorious amount of atmosphere with every step. The thriller aspect is strong and really draws you into the game, while the sex elements are used to accentuate the atmosphere, not as a primary focus. The influences of H.P. Lovecraft and H.R. Giger are easily identifiable and really lend to the other worldly nature of those sections of the game.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the game, the real downside for me was how short it was, but as a kickstarter funded game the story was well thought out and gripping and the atmosphere drew in the gamer, maintaining a level of prickling fear whilst also being intriguing for what is coming next.

promises more than it actually delivers. in the beginning it had some nice scares and stealth elements but after the fourth time in the paralell dimension it became boring and everytime you died just annoying. especially the boss fight just felt like you couldn't really controll anything and the boss just repeats the same 3 lines and does what he wants and in the end you dont even kill him yourself.
The final cut scene was kinda predictable.
But I really enjoyed that you could actually look at almost every single item you can find and some statues are actually very well made. the overall design of the mansion is awesome. the paralell dimension however is pretty basic and kinda just gross.
Tho it was very sexualized I wished it would have been less heteronormative. A cult thats all about pleasure? But not a single hint of gay? kinda disappointing.
I really liked the lovacraftian elements tho! It really felt like staight out of a lovecraft short novel. Also the few Chuthulu artworks you can find are nice. At least they looked like Chuthulu to me. As well as the side storys that expand the world are nice. I recommend: IF you want to play it, then read everything you can find. The story behind the game is better than the game itself in my opinion.

Overall i would have regretted bying it, if i didn't get it for a super low price. If you have the chance to get it for a low price too, then get it. Its a weird experience but not worth the full price in my opinion.

Getting this out of the way, this is a middle market game. The studio had clear limitations and worked within them.

~

The engine is not silky smooth, but works for the gameplay enshrined within. Texture pop-in is minimal. Definitely keep bloom off, and the game looks fine without anti-aliasing.

~

As far as sound goes, it's hit-or-miss. The quality is varied, probably on account of the talent working from home and sending their work to the developer.

+ The MC's voicing was excellent, honestly: campy at times, but with an even production and minimal mumbling. Mrs Moon and the living Yelverton were distinctive, but couched squarely in camp.
~ SFX were minimal. They served their purpose with decent timing.
+ Scoring was memorable without being aesthetically grating.

+

Gameplay is very much in the vein of the Amnesia series or VtM:B's infamous ghost quest.

+ You're a moth drawn to a flame. Your involvement with actual goings-on is minimal, and your main course of action is investigation and avoidance. You'll only start to matter if the master of the mansion catches you snooping- then he throws you into a wall slatch.
+ Mouthbreathers would call this a walking simulator, even though you're constantly searching for clues and solving puzzles at regular intervals. They're half right- If you're too dense to solve the stair puzzle, it'll turn into one.
~ A certain visual element was a nice touch, especially for finding clues and surmounting adversity. The one addition to that in the very late game seemed almost tacked-on. I hope that has more significance in the sequel- for my nerdism, if nothing else.
+ Bugs are minimal. I fell through the vapors of omniscience once...

~

The plot exists. It does its job. Even subverts one's expectations at times. The whole affair is B-list, but enjoyable

+ If you approach it with an RP mindset, you will have fun.
~ This game is set up expecting you to snoop, and so disperses the story and important plot elements in various dark corners. Ppl who play this like Stanley Parable are going to miss about half of the lore and just a bit of the plot elements, too.
- This is not high art or heavily drafted writing. If you approach the story with a critical eye, you'll see the whole thing as one big rough edge.

+

Overall, it's a passable game for those without expectations.

- If you're jaded from playing scads of Letsplayer bait, or expect AAA quality from middle market studios, you will be staggeringly disappointed.
+ If you can actually have fun, you shan't have a problem. It might be a little jarring shifting from the intro to the house to the spooky grounds. You won't care once you hit the first real spot of weirdness.
+ This is very replayable, oddly enough. For private streams or personal enjoyment, this is a game that doesn't bog you down or get boring...unless you're still stuck on the stairs after 3 hours.

I played this to understand the story for Lust from Beyond, which comes out September 24th.

Story: it was far better than average for this type of game, but lacking in exposition -- I would have liked to have known a bit more about Amanda.

Music: nothing stood out to me other than Ave Maria playing during the orgy.

Gameplay: Some of the puzzles were nice, but the stealth mechanics are terrible -- it would have been nice to distract guards -- and I did not like Johnathan's inability to defend himself or even absorb damage -- one swipe and it's game over. Thankfully, these parts are short.

Visuals: visually, this game is a work of art. The lighting, color, and composition are masterfully done.

Sexuality: remember Eyes Wide Shut? The developers took that and built a whole game around it. There are two orgies; the first orgy is mildly censored (most of the women are wearing panties while the men are completely naked -- a bizarre design decision) but the second orgy shows everything. Both orgies are contained in safe areas where you can watch, and there is even an achievement for watching the first one.

Theme: without spoiling anything, this game takes jabs at postmodernism, a philosophy that rejects rationality and logic and is used to justify tyranny, including censorship.

Good golly. There aren't many games that have me leaving with a shopping list or quietly whimpering the words, 'Yes please'... Or regularly having to wipe steam off my glasses since they fog up when I get excited. XD

BDSM meets Lovecraft. Initially I thought this was just going to be some kind of sex game. It's not. While there is sex in the actual game, the story had some depth to it and I loved every minute.

The atmosphere is both eerie and erotic. I enjoyed my time falling down this rabbit hole and exploring the mansion. The game feels a little bit short, but I liked the story so much that I'm chomping at the bit for the sequel! Yeehaw!

I won't lie, I kinda really wanted to join in to most of the partying happening at the mansion. Alas, the main character is more timid and voyeuristic than I am. I'm the kinda girl who likes to get my hands dirty(giggity).

While this is far from the kinkiest thing I have ever experienced, it's ok. A lot of this stuff just can't be redone in a video game anyway and is kinda better living first hand. But I digress. The life I live when the sun goes down is not for review haha.

Would I recommend this game? Yes! In fact, it is currently 90% so I would snatch it up faster than a dwarven locksmith!!

Honestly, this game was way better than I expected it would be. Unlike most games that have sexual content, this game had a plot, one that was actually quite well put together. Loved opening cabinets and looking a dildongs in secret drawers. Loved the freaking prongles of progression that you had collect.

The plot and gameplay are average, and the length is very short (3~5 hours)... but the visual design alone is worth its price. It feels like the game didn't have the budget or the manpower or the time necessary, but the concept is amazing! Lots of scenes were breathtakingly shocking and beautiful at the same time.

I'd like to congratulate the devs for having the balls of including so much sexual and shocking content in the times we're living, where everybody gets offended about everything... Looking forwards to the sequel!

I don't know why so many bad reviews.

Honestly the art and the mapping of this game is amazing.
Super creative. The voices was good too.
It was pretty short but I felt like there could of been a bit more.

Super worth my 2$ tho. I like the story.

I have Lust From Beyond on my wishlist and I have super high expectations for it! I really liked the Prologue.

Craving more! :D

It's an interesting game and it's basically a mix of sex and horror. I did enjoy it because of its story, but however if everything in my opinion was to be considered, I will not recommend buying the game at full price for the following reasons:

1) It's too short and expensive - I was able to finish the game within three hours and its full price is around roughly $10; which is kinda expensive for a short game. Also for $10 you could buy other decent shooting/sandbox game for that amount.

2) Underwhelming sexual theme - Yes, there is nudity and sex, but in the protagonist's experience there is none. You just get to see nude people having sex and a bunch of sex toys. Basically the sexual theme is just on the surroundings and it doesn't really affect your character emotionally (plotwise), and that is kind of a big deal. Since Sex and Lust are the key themes of this game, the protagonist should have at least have an idea of lust in him (like a sex scene or a flashback with his wife - I'm not a creepo, I'm just judging the story by its plot), but actually what he's doing is just running around and escaping sex fiends, so in other words he was unaffected by the sex that was going on and that kinda ruins the immersion, basically the game was just better off being a horror game than a sexual game in the first place.

Overall, I did enjoyed it, I mean the game's story and lore were rich and awesome, but yeah with all that is said and done, it's just not that worth it at full price.

Well, just finished the game. It was pretty unique experience. I can't say for sure that the game is realy good. It's okay. The story is short and simple. Riddles are easy as well. Monsters and the main villain is pretty unusual. If you want to try something really outrageous , you should go for this game but only if it has a great discount. I finished it in less than 3 hours. But somehow I #'d recommend it if you don't have any problems with body horror or a lot of nudity and d*** figures.

I typically talk about the game with my intro blurb but instead I'll tell you I wish I played this through when I got it. It took me 116 minutes to finish it. I could have returned this game. I legit dropped it and waited several months before picking it up again.

+THE GOOD
+The art direction in the Lust world is A+. I love the Cthulhu meets HR Giger with a heavier sprinkling of sex.

THE MIXED
Nothings mixed.

-THE BAD
-It's so short. The main character rescues a woman who he should have left. And the story just.... ends on a weird cliffhanger thing? Iunno it's shit.
-The 'sex' appeal of this game is awful. There's no real lusting because when you stare at most of the sex the main character has a freak out. Yeah, I know this sounds petty but the whole game sells itself on a sex cult.
-This game SHOULD have been an open world adventure game. The art style, the mansion, the walking simulator---it all mixes. Instead it's a boring linear experience.

CONCLUSION:
It's hard to say a lot about this one. I hope Lust from Beyond is better,

Lust for Darkness has a great atmosphere and some great lore but it doesn’t seem to know what to do with it. It created this wonderful backstory with an interesting alternate universe and a cult trying to access it but it fails to explore either in much detail. You don’t get to figure out what the origins of the cult are; why they want to find Lusst’ghaa; or just what the beings on the other side are or their motivations. Maybe I’m trying to dig too deep into this but I feel there was a lot of uncovered potential. What I was left with was a game about a man whose wife went missing; no idea the circumstances of that; and he is just blindly trying to get his wife back without asking any questions. The puzzles in the game are not overly difficult but border on annoying at times. They also feel a bit out of place and kind of just there to add some actual gameplay to an otherwise story driven game. There is a stealth section that was a tad annoying as I hate stealth. There was also enemies that you have to run from that can one hit kill you and you can’t fight back against which is another pet peeve of mine. The opening of doors was also annoying as you have to pull or push with the mouse kind of like in the Amnesia games. I didn’t like it then any more than I do now. The graphics were above average for the most part. The world detail such as shelves; doors; furniture; buildings; objects; etc were great. The detail on bodies was also great. Faces and clothing were a little sub par. The voice acting was pretty weak. The main character almost seemed like he was going for a Bruce Campbell vibe except he isn’t Bruce Campbell and this isn’t Evil Dead. His wife was a little better but still wasn’t anything more than decent. There wasn’t much music in the game but the end credits music was a good choice.

I played Lust for Darkness on Linux using Proton. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any bugs. The game auto saves at various points and has only the one save slot. Alt-Tab works. There is 1 AA setting; 1 AF setting; 3 SSAO settings; and 3 other graphic options. The game generally ran from 74-144 FPS but could dip down to 29-56 FPS at times almost randomly. It isn’t a fast paced game so the lag wasn’t very noticeable when it did.

It may seem like I really didn’t enjoy Lust for darkness but I just feel like it had more to give than it did. If you enjoy HP Lovecraft media; movies like Event Horizon or Hellraiser than you may like this game. If they expanded the lore more I would have loved it. I finished the game in 2 hours and 48 minutes. It feels a bit short given how many questions I had unanswered and it even ended on a bit of a cliffhanger leaving one more before it was all over. There are worse games than Lust for Darkness but there are better as well. Conarium is what this game could have been in my eyes. Hopefully the sequel addresses my issues. I paid $6.79 CAD for the game and it isn’t bad value for the content or length. The full price, which is $16.99 CAD right now, is a bit steep.

I would really love to heartily recommend this, but no, I can't. The gameplay is just too mediocre, the animation is just too stiff. The voice acting isn't quite there.

Nice idea, nice visuals, nice consistency of theme, but the actual execution of everything else just isn't quite good enough. I wanted to finish it and there was enough there for me to do so, but if it's a choice between this game and ANY OTHER game you want to play, definitely chose the other one.

Although the game looks promising with its intriguing atmosphere and bold themes, take this game with a grain of salt. The art direction and visual design are inspired by too many ideas from Eyes Wide Shut, Cthulhu Mythos, Giger Art, Hellraiser e.t.c . All these visual and thematic elements are scattered all over the game without any coherent storytelling. Graphic violence and sexual scenes are implemented just to shock and terrify you, not to build a well-balanced story. Game fails to associate violence with lust or sexual desire. There are too many plot holes and absurdity that the actions of the cult which are supposed to be scary, begin to look like a parady of BDSM culture.

However, I would like to give a thumbs up. Despite the failure in both storytelling and reflecting kink, the game still has a valiant effort to produce entertainment with heavy subjects and adult material. That is not something common in gaming industry.

The one thing going for it is the atmosphere. No real horror or gore, just the implication of such. Nudity is there just to contribute to the atmosphere. At a sale price of $2.99, I regret buying this.

I have to say I very much liked Lust for Darkness. The story was pretty good in my opinion. I didn't take much time to read the negative reviews, but I can't help but suspect there's a lot of people who came here looking for a sex game and this isn't it. The story is so good, it really ought to be a book.

The graphics ran the line between good and merely 'ok.' Some areas, particularly the lighting was fantastically done though.

A neat addition was that, if you unlock side stories, you can watch animated videos with hand drawn artwork while the narrator fills you in on the story. The voice over is very well done.

The audio fell just short of fantastic. The music/soundtrack was superb. The ambiance was usually pretty good, but there were some spots (only a couple) where the ambient sounds cut out abruptly.

The negative things about this game are hardly worth mentioning overall. I very much liked it. Expect a fairly short game of 4-5 hours. Some will be able to finish it much faster no doubt.

Not great, not terrible. The story is pretty basic. Atmosphere is quite good at times, but the sections where you're supposed to run away really drew me out of it. While there is nudity, it's mostly just to add to the atmosphere; it's not particularly titillating and the body horror isn't particularly horrific. There are no choices (I would have loved to abandon the love interest, but no luck there), and the story is fairly dull. It's only about 2 hours long, and it's got one of those stereotypical horror stinger endings as well. If all that sounds great, maybe pick it up on sale. Otherwise, give this one a pass.

Pros: Creative, v. good graphics, v. good voice acting, decent use of horror tropes.
Cons: Railroad story, a lot of times your protagonist will die just because there's nothing clear about what you are supposed to do, and you have to try until you figure it out, some of the horror trope usage was so blatant that it was ineffective. Due to the railroad-y nature of the game, I started to lose interest halfway through, but wanted to finish the game anyways due to my completionist tendencies.

Not bad at all, but it's either your kind of thing or it isn't, I wouldn't recommend against it, but I wouldn't actively recommend it, either.

I thought this would be a great Lovecraftian meets HR Giger lust cult game that would unravel through the game! I was so excited for something so off the wall and interesting.

There was some story building and some fun to be had but this game was just very linear and didn't grow like I hoped it would have. The walk cycles seemed stiff and some of the objectives were too clear. Like the Willard part (not giving spoilers).

It was a great idea but maybe the execution was just not right?

It was a quite enjoyable 4 hr experience overall but I didn't like the censorship or the fact that most areas were inaccessible and the Lusst’ghaa parts became quite repetitive after a while. I purchased and played this after playing the demo of 'Lust from Beyond'. In all honesty, I enjoyed LfB's 1 hr of gameplay much more than I did LfD's 4 hrs of gameplay - a simple case of 'quality over quantity', I think. The best part of the game for me was the part where Mozart's 'Lacrimosa' plays and the part in Lusst’ghaa where you see what fate awaits the cultists. In my opinion, there wasn't enough twisted and/or perverted content. There should've been more to see in Lusst’ghaa, especially. Thankfully, 'Lust from Beyond' seems to be improving this aspect of the game. Nonetheless, LfD is worth your time if you're looking for something short, mysterious and for some, perhaps, thought provoking and something which also has a bit of nudity and other 18+ content.

Well, I'm probably in the minority, but I liked it.
The story was mostly enjoyable in my opinion.
Although, the ending was horrible and stupid.
But I get it, the message of this game is clear.
It might seem like a weird story, but it's deep.
Especially for people that enjoy the Lovecraft.
The entire game smells like a Lovecraft fanfic.
It's not necessary on a Cthulhu level of story.
In fact: Agony was just a much better game.
And Agony had some similar themes as well.
The atmosphere is honestly really well made.
Even the overall visuals are very nice looking.
It's a short game, I finished it in four hours.
And the base price seems to be overpriced.
If you want some weird horror fetish story:
This game will probably be alright for you.
I like some good fetish from time to time.
And I also like some horror and Lovecraft.
Therefore: I do give this a positive review.

A poor man's Agony. Pun intended.

Actually it's not that bad, but it is awfully short, features very little interaction with characters and the world and the entire game feels like a railroaded tube without even the attempt to appear as if there was freedom or any impact of the player whatsoever.

In a way, this is a playable Lovecraftian movie with eeeh mechanics, okay visuals, some great parts with creepy and eerie atmosphere but apart from that nothing you haven't seen way too often already.

I really tried to like this, but I truly cannot recommend it.

Lust for Darkness looks great on paper,, decent graphics, promises of nudity and sexual content.... Lovecraft... what could go wrong.. Well!!! about that.... This game is alot like talking with a girl from Plenty of Fish for three weeks and then finally meeting her and discovering the profile picture she had posted was from five years ago.. She's still somewhat the same, albeit 5 years older and 40 pounds heavier.. You still go through with the date,, even though she's got a great personality, it's hard to get past the fact she felt the need to post misleading information about herself to get you to meet her.. Knowing full well if you do decide to date her, she'll eventually lie repeatedly about being Pregnant and have other really glaring personality issues... and.... Wait a second we're not talking about my dating life, but Lust for darkness... Need a second to gather myself...

Ok so back on track..

GAMEPLAY - Walking simulator with a few *cough* stealth sections *cough* and a few that require you to run away from unbeatable enemies.. You get a mask which you can put on and remove to reveal hidden (but not really) bridges and doorways.. A few pretty easy puzzles sprinkled here and there.. Nothing genre shattering, or awe inspiring.. if you've played walking simulators in the past, you'll know just what you get from this one..

STORY - You play as Jonathon a man who's wife disappeared a year ago under suspicious circumstances a year prior.. While chilling in your house, you get strange phone calls and then a letter purported to be from your missing wife.. She says to find her you need to visit a mansion to discover it's secrets, and find her.. (no woman is worth that much trouble... time to move on and use my new widower status to pull down mad chickas.) Off you to like a love sick puppy into a strange and mysterious place, to find your wife..

Recommendation -

I would recommend this game but with a bit of a warning attached.. Firstly, the full price of 14 dollars might be a bit much for the content delivered.. Slightly over 2 hours of gameplay will see you just reaching the point where trading cards and start to drop and you'll be finished with the game.. So keep that in mind when you are deciding on when to pull the trigger on buying..

If you do buy it, keep in mind you'll be rewarded with a somewhat engaging story (for the most part), nudity and sexual situations, albeit quite robotic, and if you stay around to watch (as one achievement requires you to do for 10 minutes) you'll really see how odd and robotic the NPC's are.. it's like.. watching someone on downers have sex with their sibling.. Cold, robotic, unfeeling, uncaring,..

So I guess buy the game at some point, and play it for the easy achievements and chance to be caught up to date on story when the game Lust for Darkness drops in the near future (which from early information looks to be great).. Just don't go into it thinking you'll be improving your fap hand, as this game sadly scores 1 out of 10 on the fap o meter.. It scores below the weather channel, and Judge Judy..

The theme and backstory of the game is quite good. As is the art direction. However, as executed, it's just not a very good game. To be brief, the entire experience just feels clunky and unpolished. It would be great to see the same creative elements used in a better game. The ending is terrible as well.

Not great, not terrible. A short walking simulator with some creepy and strange horror elements, but that's pretty much it. Lusst'ghaa is the strong aspects of the game and I suggest to fully explore everything there is in order to the get good grasp of the story behind Lust for Darkness. In the end I enjoyed the experience.
