Looks and sounds cool but the actual pinball design is really bad.

This is one of those pinball games that requires tilting, which imo is a cop out of bad design, you shouldnt have to rely on tilting, but you have features and walls that send your ball straight down the middle of the table, you can go through two entire sets of paddles and lose your ball in one go if you dont tilt.

The game doesnt have a proper physics system, its obviously applying some very specific direction to the ball, you can see it when you get the ball stuck under the upper most paddles, when you release the ball it moves quite fast opposite to the movement of the paddles and the direction of gravity.

The game looks really great but then they use a neutral colour for the ball so it gets so easily lost on the chaos on screen, which isnt helped by the absolutely horrible camera that in general tracks the balls very poorly, and is absolutely horrendous when tracking the ball in the top most zone of the table.

Multiball is especially painful because of the camera, where instead of giving you an overview of the table it just focuses even tighter in on your first ball, even though the settings look to suggest it should be doing the opposite, but changing those settings seems to do nothing in general, which isnt surprising as the game gives you incorrect control prompts also, so gives the impression of being poorly made.

It goes without saying, I tried looking for the typical option to change the view and it didnt seem to exist, and like I said, the controls that are there to tweak the camera dont even seem to work.

Apart from the outright BAD design aspects of the table, the rest make it so ridiculously difficult, with next to no features to counteract the difficulty, such as the several features that move your ball to the lowest zone, which is the hardest strangely enough, as it should be the easiest.

The table desperately needed to be fine tuned, like moving the lowest ball save lower so it doesnt trigger while the ball is still on a paddle, adjusting the shape at the bottom of the two lowest bumpers as they can send the ball right between your paddles, some of the walls mentioned, and a few other things here and there.

One of the biggest issues is theres no feature to earn a free ball, you get one as a grace when you launch in case you get unlucky and instantly lose your ball, but theres no way to earn one, which is sorely missing with such difficult aspects like the bullets that push your ball back if it hits them, even right above a paddle.

The features themselves are unclear.

The paddles are too slow, I thought at first there was some sort of delay, but I realised because the game is animated, they obviously thought to animate the triggered paddles, but they end up moving much slower than IRL and give you that sense of a delay that you cant really afford.

Its also worth mentioning that there seems to be only the one table.

So again, it looks cool with all the flashing chaos and all the points and other things lighting up, the killing of the bosses aspect is really neat, and the game sounds great, with some nice, I guess they are like 16 bit themed or something, its cool, with a very fun announcer, whos unfortunately a little hard to understand, they definitely should have either tweaked those lines or re recorded them to make the vowels a lot clearer, because as it is it sounds like someone mumbling or someone with a heavy accent.

Unfortunately, so many bad design aspects as listed above simply ruin the fun, so after about an hour, the games simply frustrating and you recognise doing well is very luck dependant.

If the issues where cleaned up, this would be a must buy for people who enjoy pinball, even if only the single table was available, but the games been around for quite a while at this point, I wouldnt expect these things to change.

So much fun. Played for hours and still haven't seen everything it has to offer.
If anyone has any methods on PinballX frontend integration for cab mode I'd love to hear them. I have followed a few methods online but can't launch from command line.

This game never tries to hide the fact that it's a video-pinball experience, in a way that I feel is entirely for its benefit. Demon's Tilt has constant tilting action, charming vocal soundbytes, and a killer soundtrack in the style of a Genesis/Mega Drive. I even bought the OST after playing for a few hours.

While the table is highly animated, the various moving pieces and characters aren't too overstimulating or distracting. This makes for quite an enjoyable time playing for someone like myself who can't particularly handle when there's too much happening onscreen within a game I'm trying to relax while playing.

Overall, I'd recommend the game to anyone who enjoys games like Alien's Crush or Full Tilt Pinball. The amount of content I still have yet to see within the game as of this review is pretty exciting!

Are you carving for a fantasy pinball video game in the vein of Pokémon pinball? I certainly didn’t. Until I started playing Demon’s tilt, that is.

For a game where you only have control of about 8 flippers, it certainly gets intense in the late game. So much stakes (will you beat your high score?), and the only way to get the score up is to lean more into risk: You get your Ultra Jackpot, but now you have to deal with 2 balls at the same time for a while. The game gets harder anyway the longer your run is.

The game is made so much more fun by the excellent art: The visuals, sound effects and music are great, they complement the gameplay perfectly. The special tracks for multiball mods makes everything more intense. My favorite sfx: the slot machine (fairly certain the exact same sound can be heard in the Bayonetta 1 arcade cabinet)

In terms of gameplay, I’m sold. It works very much like Spelunky. At the beginning you have no idea what is going on and basically no control over your ball. But the more you play, the more savvy you get. The easier it is to replicate similar shots. You also get more aware of the state of the game and start to understand where to shoot the ball.

Overall it’s an excellent game, and the only negative thing is that there is too little of it (only one board). I want MORE!!!.

A visual stimulation overload of bullet hell arcade pinball wrapped in neon. Don't expect realism here, there's plenty of arcadey magic movement and explosions and moving enemy obstacles. Very cool!

Crazy cult concept,fast pace and a whole lot going on all at once! I advise to keep visibility trail on lol Gives me that SEGA MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS retro feel. Play with the settings to find your comfort view. MY settings- Full screen, tate vertical display, Quality the best,screen flasher,screen shake,visibility trail and filter A.

Genuinely epic digital pinball game with a banging 16-Bit soundtrack. Shame there is only one table, but the table is big has a lot of elements to interact with. Worth a buy when it's on sale.

Demon's Tilt is a very interesting take on pinball, where it's only pinball by form and action with what happens on the table. This is not a game for traditional pinball players who're used to the average expectancy of a typical pinball game. Because everything in Demon's Tilt, is pretty hectic and hard to follow. I keep losing track of where the ball is going because of the numerous explosions and all of the fancy effects and having to pay attention to something else because that's happening. It's just a myriad of things and stuff that's happening in this game that can make you feel lost, confused and probably frustrated.

This game is a work of art for what it is, though. Very gorgeously detailed visuals. The music has a nice prog-rock feel to it. I recommend playing this game with a controller because it'll save you the patience. I'd like to recommend it but only if you can deal with the novelty factor of this game and it's chaotic nature. Don't go into playing this thinking that all normal pinball physics or rules will apply, because Demon's Tilt is a hybrid of many game mechanics in a pinball environment.

Not good for traditionalists. Good for everything else.

This is as close as I can get to a modern Devil's Crush game and I love it .
Good music ,visuals and bosses .
I love how the game is engaging (reward you with every action you make )

Ridiculously fun. I don't have a deep personal commitment to the genre of pinball like a lot of reviewers apparently do, so having come into this experience relatively clean I can recommend this wholeheartedly based only on its merits, which are:
-challenging for a casual like me, but not so hard it is frustrating. Right in my personal sweet spot, in fact.
-Deceptively simple... I don't have the capacity to remember a lot of key commands and attacks and spells and whatever. This may be the peak gaming experience from that perspective- allegedly I could use WASD for something, but 5 hours in I haven't really felt the need to venture beyond left and right shift. Within the bounds of these two keys, there's already a ton of strategy and variety of playstyle possible.
-As I improve and keep the ball in play longer, there are more and new things to discover. What happens when I kill the purple tentacle thing? Can't wait to find out!

DEMON'S TILT is a super sick 2D pinball game. If you know your old virtual pinball games, you can probably tell it's inspired by the Crush series, but it's not just a 1:1 recreation. While it has all of what you'd expect with a multilevel table, secret subtables, a dark occult mishmash theme, and banging music, it also brings a modern sensibility by adding in tons of graphical improvements such as particle effects and higher resolution pixel art, as well as faster gameplay that makes the games it's inspired by look like snails in comparison. I did have a glitch where the game would not proceed to the ending screen after the last ball drained, which I think started after purchasing the Collector's Pack, but reinstalling the game seems to have fixed it. Overall it's a really awesome and fun game that I'd recommend if you aren't a prude who's put off by the theme or whatever.

Yes its great , it has nostalgic value to those that love Old school Sound blaster like Midi music, it has challenge for those that really looks for that. And it is amazing overall highly recommended to all pinball players out there looking for a bit of extra in there pinball game. the added enemies and bosses makes the progression of playing smoothly transitional, but also overall more challenging.

DEMON'S TILT - I can say it lives up to is name, granted at the time of this review I have only played about 2 or so hours of the game, but I can honestly this is very much like Epic Pinball's wicked step-child (twice removed). In DEMON'S TILT you have a very unique playfield which overs a ton of challenge and depth, honestly I still have not figured it all out just yet, but it is very fun to play. The bosses offer a ton of challenges and the baddies themselves add another demented dimension to the table(s). Look forward to each challenge in this game. Good ballin all! - Dark

Simply the best virtual pinball game on steam. It doesn't try to emulate a real machine like pinball fx or arcade it takes advantage of the fact it is a videogame like alien crush. Amazing table the only downside is the fact tha there isnt a ruleset anywhere so youll need to figure out how to play on your own mostly.

Demon's Tilt has very impressive pixel art used for the game. You can also mess with filters to make the game as old school as you wish. You are a paladin that hunts the evil of this world. That's the total of it. Now, imagine the parades of demons that you have seen in your nightmares. Imagine the most secretive and cryptic rituals you know to summon them. You fight them off in a 3 story high pinball table. This is where the adventure begins.

This game is very reminiscent of the occult pinball games on the Dreamcast, that still possess a cult following to this day. Occult pinball done well is rather rare and Demon's Tilt fills the slot well.

One of the many reasons why I would actually recommend this game is that the game comes with multiple settings to customize your experience. Does it shake too much or would you like a trail to help find the ball? You can fix that. You can have a stable screen with a trail following the pinball to help locate it.

Demon's tilt is an action-filled pinball game that is rarely achieved today. You are encouraged to play to reach the Billionaire's Club by reaching for the top scores. Tilt the machine as the pro tip says. Have fun!

Absolutely love the idea of this game.
Sound is fabulous ( I turn the music off just a pref ).

Graphics: And here lies a problem.
The actual visuals are top notch but there is just too much going on and the overly flashing graphics distract from me where the ball actually is.
Also it feels like too much effort was put into the exploding graphical screen that it overwhelms the fun and the concentration.

I have no regrets buying this game and that is why I voted it up.

If by chance the devs read this please believe me you are good, but maybe putting in too much graphical candy.

An idea might be for an option to tone down the graphics in fact you could market that by those of us who are a little older with our reflexes and concentration.

I am going to go all out and support this because I believe you are very skilled and I wish for more future tables.

Perhaps implement turning the ' special effects' off as an option that would truly be great.

Solid 7.5 and if the graphics toned down 9.5.

Great graphics, great theme, great soundtrack, leaderboards, good options menu, good physics,...

It isn't an Arcade table as in that it benefits from the advantages from being a virtual table without sacrificing on physics.

It might be slightly expensive for just one single table, but even if you pay it on full price, I definitely have the feeling you wouldn't regret the purchase.

I will definitely return to this table :)

I will be concise.
The more you play this game the more you will realise just how fine tuned it is. It's a pure labour of love.

I saw someone in a review saying you couldn't aim the ball with the flippers. You need to put your hours in young apprentice!

This game is close to 10/10 for me.

The music gets you pumped and the demon creatures you run into make this the most unique and killer digital pinball machine i've seen yet. It's for fans of the Elvira, Monster Mash, and Addams Family tables. It's for people who get kicks from the Goetia and Necronomicon. Demon's Tilt is everything i've wanted that hasn't been fulfilled since Sonic Spinball on the Sega Genesis. It's aesthetically pleasing and the evolution of the board is worth a few runs. It's addicting! One map is truly all you need. The rest is up to your endurance and perseverance.

An excellent fast-paced game. It's hard, and sometimes leaves me feeling a little cheated, but it's so satisfying when you pull off the more complex sequences in the game. I recommend playing in EX mode as soon as you're comfortable with the mechanics - the bonus tables are super fun.

Also, don't be deterred by the fact that you're only getting a single table for 20 bucks - there is a ton of content here and a lot of mechanics that I've never seen before in pinball. It's definitely worth it.

I played this on Gamepass and liked it so much I immediately bought it outright. It's not just for pinball heads. If you like shmups, run and gun games, or anything else 'arcadey', there's a good chance you'll get a kick out of Demon's Tilt. I don't usually like Pinball games because I rarely feel like i'm in control of what the ball is doing. The physics in Demon's Tilt are spot on though. Probably not realistic, but very satisfying and easy to get to grips with. My only gripe is the price. €16.80 feels a little bit steep for just one table.

A really really fun Pinball game.

Has cool goals to complete and different difficulties as well.
I have nominated this for the best soundtrack in a game for 2020!
Sound effects and music are absolutely amazing!

A must play of everyone that loves pinball!
If you don`t have pinball it does not matter this is a FUN game!

Fun game and very fast paced. The menu system is probably the weakest thing in the game. See their is the options where you set the graphics and controls. I am using an Xbox controller. Once you enter the game hit start and you will see another menu. I would activate ball trails so you can see the ball as it moves very fast. You can also set the music to play random tunes in that same menu. The sound is solid and the graphics are very sharp looking.

It only has one table but its a good one and their plenty to do on the table. Be aware its a really fast table so the ball is gonna move fast. I like it.

A great, fun little pinball game that's great for passing time. I don't have much time to pass, but this is one of the better ways of doing it and the visual style is stunning.

Fun casual game to play when bored with good visuals and soundtrack. However traditional pinball fans may not like this game since it doesn't work like normal pinball games and is mixed with elements like bosses and bullet hell. Would be nice if there's more than 1 level, imo its not worth the full price. Get it during a sale or something would be okay.

A fresh, frenetic, high-def, homage to the TurboGrafx-16 classic Devil's Crush. With as well as this one turned out I'd gladly buy a spiritual successor to Alien Crush as DLC.

This review is half-hearted for the Autumn achievment

Anyways: probably the best pinball available right now. I mean, Zaccaria Collection is pretty good for historical accuracy except for its janky physics some times, but that's really about it (Pinball FX is kinda lame).

So, we got this... and it's very solid. It even simulates some pinball things it doesn't have to since it's 2d such as how the ball hugs the rails. Plus the main song is really good and fun. And I have a thing for shitty lofi voice clips, makes it sound pretty real.

A fun non arcade pinball with a very enjoyable soundtrack. The game is similar to Crue Ball and other games licensed on gaming systems like the Sega Genesis. It is a bit hard to keep the ball on the playfireld, but there are gamers playing a game (3 balls) over an hour play session.

If you like multi screen pinball this is a good game to buy.

Demon's tilt is an amazing tribute to the pinball crush series! (Alien Crush, Devil's Crush, etc.) Highly recommended for pinball fans or anyone who liked the pinball crush games.

I'm sure that I'm not the first to compare this game to Alien Crush and Devil's Crush. Demon's Tilt is the spiritual successor to those two video pinball games and Jaki Crush (which I've never played). This game takes me back to the 16-bit days on both the TurboGrafx-16 and the Sega Genesis & I consider it a great bonus that I just happened to catch it here on Steam for $9.99. I couldn't pass it up. With this game, I'll no longer pine for Devil's Crush or Crue Ball because this game ticks those boxes, as well. I'd love to see a sci-/fi take on this theme, with a Contra/Metal Slug/MUSHA/Raiden vibe mixed in as either a sequel or a game in its own right. Long story short: I love this game!

COMING FROM A NON-PINBALL PLAYER I haven't played a pinball game since FULL TILT on Windows XP .... I was only a young kid then. I really enjoy this game. The sound track is a huge bonus. I keep coming back for more, each time I launch the game. Very well made. A++

I know a lot of people compare this to Megadrive/Genesis gaming, but for us PC gamers Demon's Tilt is an arcade pinball game one would have expected to find on the Amigas back in the day!
Three tier pinball table, with sideboards for each tier and bullet hell action?!?? I said this on XBOX, but this brings me back to my youth playing Epic Pinball, Pinball Fantasies and Balls of Steel... But even those don't quite hold a candle to how insane this one table is!
Simulation, arcade original - you know when you're playing a good pinball game when your focus, reflexes and wits put to the test. Demon's Tilt is one such game that excels at keeping you on your toes!
Definitely Required Play if you're a pinball wizard... I personally enjoyed enough after playing on Game Pass, I bought a copy each for my XBOX, Switch and here on Steam!

Hands down the best pinball game I've ever played. Games like Zen's focus more on the simulation angle, but Demon's Tilt embraces its digital nature, and runs wild with outright impossible feats and mechanics on a physical table.

That, and everything about the game shows this was designed by people who are themselves, fans of pinball games. There's options for every single thing one could want to adjust, here, and so many small quality of life details littered throughout. But the most noteworthy being that you can see the cooldown on nudging. Where tables like the ones Zen make, have you just guess, Demon's Tilt puts it front and center. The devs know this, and expect you to nudge regularly, as even the nudge physics are far more powerful than on a physical/simulated table. The cooldown of the nudge is also incredibly fast, you can use one practically every shot.

The bullet spreads and the Devil May Cry styled chain counter, also encourage fast and furious play, instead of the usual routine one falls into of catching your ball and simply aiming for the same shots over and over. Speaking of catching, it goes without saying that live catches, post passes, all the little things, are in here.

It's not perfect, some of the graphics use rixels and mixels, the bloom on the default settings is a bit overkill, and the UI looks really rough and like it's made of stock PNGs. But the biggest thing holding Demon's Tilt back is that there's no suspend game function, meaning if you want to beat your highscore, you need to set aside enough time to do so in one run! Seriously guys, with how incredibly detailed the rest of the QoL stuff is, this is a huge oversight! Even at my amateur level of scoring in the mid 100 mil ranges, games can take me half an hour, but the highest scoring videos on youtube run for multiple hours! And for something as pickup and play as pinball, not being able to take a break can really kill one's enthusiasm to just play it for fun, knowing that if they start doing well, if they've got something coming up then they have to abandon a potentially chart topping run.

But seriously, lack of suspending the game, aside, this is an absolutely incredible pinball game. The genre may be small, but that's the nature of the occult. If it looks interesting to you, I promise it's absolutely worth plunking down the cash to support the devs and try it yourself. Four hours on one table and I'm still barely scratching the surface of this one's depth.

I found this game almost unplayable until I turned the ball trail's visibility on. Knowing where the ball was made it much easier and infinitely more enjoyable to play! What I would do to improve this game is to add captions to what the woman is saying. I can't fully understand what she is saying but I do not think I am missing much or that it is terribly important. I've played several pinball games and this one is my favorite, most likely to the occult theme.

Demon's Tilt is NOT a pinball table. It is a pinball game like the old NES Pinball or the Windows Space Cadet, which resembles three small pinball tables stacked on top of each other and using pinball-like physics.

Visually, it's a mess. There is so much happening at one time on the screen it is hard to keep track of the ball, not helped by how the ball can teleport and bounce of spawned enemies all over the place. The tiny flippers and unpredictable speed of the ball don't help here either. Once the ball is in the lower playfield, it might as well be lost. It is very unlikely to get the ball back up and a drain is quick.
The same problem exists with the top field, with the addition of a huge gap between the flippers: the ball is likely to be lost immediately. As a result, most of the time is spent on the middle playfield.

With a pinball-like game it is impossible to see the entire table at once so the tables scroll with the ball, unfortunately this seems to sometimes lag behind, costing valuable time figuring out where the heck the ball is.

The sound is good. The female voice sounds nice and fits the theme, and there is good music.

If you want a pinball toy resembling the NES Pinball or Pinball Crush, you may like this. But if you want actual pinball, stay away.

Fight Cthulhu monsters with a metal ball! Fun pinball theme with modes that scale in difficulty including a hardcore mode where you have only one ball. There are leaderboards for every mode. All controls are configurable.

One table with a pretty deep ruleset. Absolutely gorgeous pixel graphics and good sounds. Theme is pretty interesting too. Physics aren't exactly realistic or anything, but they are plenty good enough for an arcadey pinball game like this. Would recommend to anyone who likes pinball.

An absolutely beautiful and dark gothic pinball table, reminiscent of HR Giger artwork and HP Lovecraft themes. On top of normal pinball features, you get boss monster fights too. Unique and exciting!

Pros

+ Inspired by Devil's Crush (fighting enemies)
+ Great atmosphere and theme
+ Pixel graphics and animations
+ Music
+ 3 minor tables stacked on top of eachother

Cons

- The flippers are short making it difficult to aim. (major con to me)
- Playing field is cramped
- Visually a mess, too much effects going on obscuring the trail of your ball.
- Transitions from the bottom table to the one above are hard to hit especially when you combine it with the small flippers and monsters present. The bottom table is annoying.
- It doesn't feel like there is any weight to the ball
- Expensive for only 1 table
- No manual

It's an okay pinball game but the cons are outweighing the pros. I'd rather play psycho pinball (DOS) or Devil's Crush (TG16 emu) for my virtual pinball fix to be honest.

An absolutely fantastic love letter to the Crush series of pinball games popular on the TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Mega Drive. It retains what made those games so great, while carving its own unique identity.

You play across three tiers, each with their own playfield and unique goals. These goals range from making accurate shots to certain features to smashing bosses in the face and dodging bullets. It's remarkably varied and an absolute joy to play.

Pros:
+ Great artstyle and music
+ Solid physics
+ Varied goals with extra mini playfields
+ Addictive gameplay!
+ Multiple game modes (original, 1-ball survival, ex-mode)

Cons:
- It's very hard to learn exactly what to do
- Excess jargon and no in-game manual makes learning harder
- Once you get good, games last a VERY long time.

Overall, it's amazing. There's nothing quite like it on Steam at the moment, and I believe it's the best non-simulator style pinball game on the platform. An absolute must-play.

Hands down one of my favorite pinball video games I've ever played. I generally prefer more realistic style simulations like The Pinball arcade and the Pinball FX3 Williams tables, however this one was too interesting for me to not try out and I'm glad I did. Everything is over the top, with tons of explosions, bullets, boss fights, and etc. The music and sound effects are outstanding, and if you grew up with a Sega Genesis it will take you back to your childhood. I know 20 bucks seems a bit steep for a pinball game with just one table, but the gameplay is worth it in my opinion. I'd pay full price again for more tables if they were to be released. An instant classic for me. If you're a fan of pinball video games or just arcade style games in general, this one is a no-brainer.

Fun little pinball game, but it's not without its frustrations. There are a LOT of visual effects that blow up all over the screen that can make you lose track of the ball, it's not always clear which flashing glowy things will deflect the ball and which won't (and it can be maddening to lose a ball when it bounces off something you didn't realize it'd bounce off of), multiball makes the screen bounce around like crazy unless you zoom way out to the point where you can't see anything...and yet I kept playing it and kept enjoying it. It's fun, it's just fun and head-to-desk frustrating at the same time.

I really, really want to enjoy this game. The thing that breaks this for me is the the physics reaction to the pink pieces. When the ball hits them, I find it causes me to have to stop and pause to avoid them or try to fight against them. I want to enjoy this table. I generally wish it was something I could overlook, but it's not. It messes with the table flow way too much. Everything else is great (except maybe the poor audio quality on the voice which becomes grating after awhile)

It's fun, it's different. It does try to be a real pinball table when it shouldn't be.

Big cons. Too much physics issues. Too much going on causing me to lose track of where the ball is (this is a cardinal sin of pinball)

I cannot in good faith recommend this game to anyone except the most hardcore of pinball fiends.

The last time I was this enthused by a pinball game was on the Amiga (Pinball dreams)
I'm not a pinball enthousiast by any means, but the artstyle drew me in, and there's so much of that. Great niche theme, the music never gets old, the animations on the table are great.
I'm a bit of a hardcore gamer, as in I try very hard to get good results, and the table has enough to do and stratregy to actually give you a great shot at that.

The table (and sub tables) mostly feel fair, though kickback gutters are the bane of my existance, and the projectiles or other oddities kan sometimes make your ball jump a bit weirdly.
Other than that the table is littered with objectives and triggers for you to hit and play with.

If you've ever been curious about trying a pinball game, I greatly reccomend this. I just keep coming back to it and get sucked in for a few hours in the weekend. Don't play it for a few weeks, and then fall back into the pattern of trying to kick the table's ass.

Honestly, i'd rate this game 8.5> / 10

Great classic style pinball game calling back to the all time greats. A little light on content at the moment but great replayability for what's there. 4/5 Recommended.
