Ich weiß noch wie ätzend ich damals die Steuerung von diesem Spiel fand. In Anbetracht der Tatsache das heutzutage diese Steuerungen nicht unüblich sind, hat es mich diesmal nicht so gestört. Dennoch bevorzuge ich eine klassische Point+Klick-Steuerung.
Wirklich nervig fand ich die Tatsache das es dieses Spiel nicht in Deutsch gibt bei Steam. Wo ich doch Nicos Stimme so mag. Hat ein wenig gedauert aber irgendwann hab ich dann eine Plattform gefunden welche die deutsche Sprache anbot.

Zum Spiel selbst gibt es nicht viel zu sagen: Die Story reiht sich gut in die Reihe ein und macht Spaß. Die Rätsel sind auch hier nicht zu schwer und logisch.

Daumen hoch für den dritten Teil meiner liebsten Adventure-Reihe.

Das Spiel ist gut.

Es ist der dritte Teil der Adventure-Serie, die im Englischen als Broken Sword und im Deutschen unter Baphomets Fluch bekannt ist.

Im Unterschied zu den Vorgängern (Teil 1 und Teil 2) kommt hier eine 3D-Engine zum Einsatz und es spielt sich merklich anders. Es ist insbesondere kein Point&Click mehr.

Die Geschichte ist allerdings typisch für die Serie. Das detektivische Paar George Stobbart und Nicole Collard bekommen es wieder mit den Templern zu tun und es verschlägt sie wieder an unterschiedliche Orte rund um den Globus. Es ist halt eine typische (alte) Tomb-Raider-artige Geschichte mit einigem Witz, der auch aus den gegenseitigen Neckereien der Protagonisten entsteht. Nett sind auch die meisten NPC's gemacht.

Das Gameplay verteilt sich recht ausgewogen auf Dialoge, Objektnutzung, Rätseln und diesmal auch Stealth-Abschnitte und Kistenschieben. Da mir das Spiel noch gut in Erinnerung ist, erschien mir alles relativ einfach. Ich schätze, beim ersten Mal kann es durchaus Momente geben, wo man auf Anhieb nicht weiterkommt, generell läuft aber alles recht fair ab.

Die Grafik ist für 2003 ziemlich gut. Die Leute von Revolution Software haben auf 3D gesetzt, das Ergebnis ist sogar recht hochwertig. Zumal man (mittlerweile?) auch hohe Auflösungen zur Verfügung hat. Natürlich sieht man dem Spiel das Alter an, aber ist dennoch OK. Nicole sieht in ihrem Tropen-Outfit Lara übrigens recht ähnlich. Die Level sind schön designed und es gibt viele, gut in das Spiel integrierte Cutscenes. Sie sind natürlich aus heutiger Sicht nicht mehr der Knaller, aber waren damals schon gut gemacht.

Der Sound ist gut. Die Steam-Version ist auf Englisch (ggf. mit deutschen Untertiteln). Die ist schön, weil sie französischen und russischen Akzente enthält. Die deutsche Sprachausgabe könnte man sich (wie für die meisten Spiele) hier holen. Bei mir kam die Datei allerdings (nach 4 Stunden Downloadzeit) beschädigt an, weswegen ich darauf verzichtet habe.

Leider kann man die Dialoge scheinbar aber nicht abkürzen.

Die Steuerung ist das, worüber die meisten Leute sich beschweren. Wenn man mit Tastatur spielt (Maus spielt keine Rolle), dann ist es sehr mühsam und hakelig. Es ist eine sogenannte Panzersteuerung, die in Spielen dieser Zeit einfach üblich war. Ich weiß nicht, ob es von Anfang an möglich war, aber man kann das Spiel (nun?) auch mit Controller spielen und da funktioniert die Sache recht gut. Lediglich, dass wohl fast keine Deadzone existiert und somit die Figur fast immer etwas in Bewegung ist, stört dabei (mein Controller ist aber auch etwas älter). Bei einem Rätsel habe ich daher auf Tastatur umgestellt. Ansonsten funktionierte es recht gut, auch mit Bedienung der Menüs.

Pro & Contra:

+ Ein nettes Adventure
+ Gute englische (eigentlich auch deutsche) Vertonung
+ Viele witzige Dialoge

o Die Steuerung mit Controller ist recht gut
o Überwiegend relativ unkomplizierte Aufgaben und Rätsel
o Übliche Tomb-Raider-artige Geschichte

- Dialoge kann man wohl nicht abkürzen
- Zu geringe Deadzone für Controller

Wertung: 7/10

Das Spiel ist, wenn man nicht etwa den klassischen Vorgängern nachtrauert oder mit Tastatur spielen will, ein nettes Adventure. Zugegeben, es ist nüchtern betrachtet zumindest heute nichts besonderes mehr, aber das Pärchen und ihre Abenteuer und Dialoge sind schon sehens- und hörenswert, besonders wenn man sie schon kennt.

Habe eine etwas andere Meinung über dieses Spiel als viele andere hier. Dieser dritte Teil der legendären Reihe war mein aller erstes Adventure und auch das aller erste Spiel, was ich allein durchgespielt habe. Daraufhin habe ich es derart oft mit Familie und Freunden gespielt, dass die Story um den schlafenden Drachen einen großen Platz in meinem Herzen erhalten hat. Die Dialoge haben Charme, die Rätsel sind gut eingebettet, die Story geht rasant und spannend voran, die Chemie zwischen Nico und George ist aller erste Sahne, die Kapitel sind abwechslungsreich, die deutschen Sprecher sind grandios... und die Steuerung? An die hab ich mich recht schnell gewöhnt und war als 12/13jähriger gar nicht mal abgeneigt oder genervt. Wird mal wieder Zeit dieses tolle Spiel durch zu zocken! ♥

Lange Zeit habe ich es nicht gespielt da ich immerwieder lesen musste grottige Steuerung, schlechte Kameraführung, Zwischensequenzen nicht wegdrückbar und nur Kisten verschieben usw. Ich kann nach 4 stunden sagen das gerade die Steuerung mir richtig gut gefällt.(xbox Controller) Die Kameraführung bisher geht in Ordnung, ja Zwischensequenzen nicht wegdrückbar will ich das bei Baphomets Fluch überhaupt das spiel baut auf der story auf??? Die Rätsel waren bisher nicht so schwer wie im 1 oder 2 teil aber den charme hat es beibehalten. Im großen und ganzem gibts ein pa kleinigkeiten die stören zb das die Steamversion wie immer bei älteren spielen nur in englisch sind und man etwas Zeit investieren muss um es auf deutsch umzustellen, oder das man die Steuerung nach jedem start neu einstellen muss. Die negativen reviews kann ich mir nur so erklären das es Kinder aus der heutigen zeit sein müssen die kp vom zocken haben. Ich persönlich finde es gut und kann es weiterempfehlen freu mich auf den 4 und 5 teil

Zu empfehlen. Ja. Aber nicht so gut wie die Vorgänger, da es kein klassisches Point & Klick ist und das neue System... gewöhnungsbedürftig ist. Ansonsten ist es sowohl von der Story, den Charakteren, dem Humor... eine feine Sache. Insgesamt gut, ob es ein Replay wird ist... das wrd die Zeit zeigen. Wenn es mal wieder bei einem Sale für 1 € zu haben ist, zuschlagen!

I just couldn't play this game. I got it in a set with the other four in the series and this is the only one I had to skip. There is no mouse support and I couldn't get my controller working with it. The keyboard controls are terrible. I gave up after a few minutes and likely won't return to the game unless they release an updated version with mouse support. Its too bad, the series was pretty good up until that point

This game is a disaster. The graphics are awful and painfully slow, even though I'm running it on a modern computer. And the controls just plain suck. They don't let you use a mouse, which defeats the whole purpose of a point and click adventure game. Only play this game if you don't like fun and really want to be frustrated.

Boring game in the Broken Sword series

There are games which I may like to return to it frequently, There are also boring games which takes me 2-3 months to return to it. This game is one of them.

Story
This game returns to the Templar storyline which happened in the first game. Once again, our heroes George Stobbart and Nico Collard return but the voice cast is changed a lot. This is also the first in the series to use 3D animation instead of the 2D cartoon style and cutscenes. The story isn't very engaging.

Gameplay
The first 2 games of the Broken sword series had point and click controls. However, this series ditched the point and click system completely that its hard to tell whether this is an adventure game related to the broken sword universe. In this title you have two sets of controls - One is the movement controls and another is the Action controls. The Action controls sometimes confused me a lot in several segments including mini-events in cutscenes. The action controls come especially when you want to pick up an object, climb across ledges, jump between platforms, push crates to solve puzzles etc. In mini-events you have to press the right action button when the prompt appears, sometimes you have to act fast by moving to that location and pressing the action prompt when it pops up. While the control scheme tried to make the game better, the awkward animations of the 3d models and environment spoiled the engagement to the game.

Voice acting
A lot of the voice cast has changed including Nico's voice. Her voice has lost the French accent compared to the previous game. Only George Stobbart voice is the same.

Verdict
A lot of the game is boring due to the control scheme, level design, bad voice acting and uninteresting story. You are better off watching a gameplay walkthrough from Youtube. I am never returning back to play this.

I really enjoyed this game!

Story is great, with vastly different locations to explore. George being heroic but goofy and Nico being pragmatic as usual. You'll meet other characters from the previous adventures that reveal more of their own stories which gives them much more depth and you'll meet new ones that will keep your interest and hoping to see in the later games.

I loved the physical puzzles where you try to find a route through certain obstacles. It also has those box puzzles that most of the negative reviews seem to hate, but I actually liked them. There's also stealth and quick time events that again some people didn't like, but again, I liked as well.

It's not your normal adventure game definitely, and I can understand why some people who love pure point-n-click adventure games not love this one. But if you like action adventure and/or 3D arcade games, as well as point-n-click games, then you might find this game enjoyable as I do.

Play this if you finished 1,2 and 5, and want more. It's a decent game at it's core; Beautiful backgrounds and funny dialogue, but it's let down by the awful camera, wonky controls, and repetitive box moving puzzles.

Controller recommended, there's a setup guide in the community hub.

Around 10 hours total playtime, don't be afraid to go to a walkthrough if you get stuck, some of the solutions are stupid, or you'll find you've just done something in slightly the wrong order.

I am an enormous fan of the Broken Sword series and have replayed part 1, 2 and 5 countless times. Now, time came for the 3rd part. Storyline wise - interesting but I haven't understood it fully due to certain complications and plot twists. Graphics are pretty awful and controls need lots of time to get used to (compared to point and click). However, I have to admit that I truly enjoyed playing this game. Witty, humouristic dialogues, many ties with the past games and the return of characters all make it nice to play. It's not the best part of the series but it definitely kept me in suspense. Broken Sword 3 - the Sleeping Dragon is a great game to play if you like mystery mixed with fantastic elements, lovable characters and enjoyable dialogues. I recommend it!

I decided to play this game again after many yrs. the first time I played it was on the xbox. I highly suggest that you play this game with a game pad, bc that is what it was designed for, and it is very easy to set up.

Wow this game is really good, I forgot how good it was. I love the characters and the fact that it is a direct sequel to broken sword's 1 story. The regular puzzles are good to great and the more actioney puzzles are not horrible. There are too many box puzzles though. The graphics hold up far better than expected for a 2005 game and the voice acting is outstanding as always.

I know this game gets crapped on some in the series but I really enjoyed playing it again in 2020. The ending does come a little out of nowhere however. Still this is a 9/10 game for me. My broken sword list changes constantly but as of right now it goes from worst to best...

The keyboard only controlled 3d adventure game. At first it seemed like a hardware issue on my side, but later on I got used to it. A lot of 'push this crate here and there' puzzles. Overall a pleasant experience.

This will get me lynched but I liked this one the most out of the series. Just got to get used to that wacky control scheme, but it felt like the only one that actually gave you a good solid chunk of time playing as Nico. It actually felt like her and George were partners and she wasn't merely his sidekick.

I didn't have any technical problems, just remember to turn AA on in your graphics card control panel to cut down on those ol' jaggy polygons.

worst of the first 3 game. 3d makes the gameplay awful. camera and character movement is horrible. and the stupid crate puzzles are time wasting and meaningless. lousy. not even worth trying.

It's not even a point and click game. No mouse suppose. What's the point of a point and click game when you can't point, and then click. I understand why I never played more than 3 minutes when it came out.

It really hurts me to NOT recommend a Broken Sword game. It's one of my all time favourite game series and one of the best adventure game series ever made.

But BS3 is easily the worst of the 5 games and I'd recommend skipping it.

This game is probably the most frustrating in the series cos of a few things:

- STEALTH!!! I do not want stealth in my adventure games, thank you. The stealth parts of BS3 are incredibly annoying and one particular part where you have to sneak around a church had me wanting to throw my laptop out the window!

- The controls. The controls are awful, you control the character directly instead of clicking where you want to go or interact with in BS1 and BS2. It's a major downgrade, and makes everything clunky.

- Box puzzles! Everyone has complained about these, but they are really annoying. They're not fun and they're overused in this game.

- Quicktime events. I'm also not a fan of these, you need quick reflexes and sometimes I don't have that. Plus, when they boot you back to try it again, you have to sit through the cutscene before it all over again!

- The graphics. I think the graphics in this game are super ugly. BS1 and BS2, which came out in the mid 90's look WAY better than this.

There were a few things I did like though - I liked that Nico got a bigger role in this game and you got to play as her more, rather than just George. You only got to play as Nico for a short time in BS2, so it was cool to get more playtime with her. On a similar note, George & Nico are as delightful as ever in this game character wise. Plus a few characters and locations from the previous games make appearances, which is quite cool. Plus, the story is kinda cool too. Plus it's awesome that Rolf Saxon came back to voice George again (he voies him for the entire series).

So overall, I definitely don't recommend BS3. If you want to have the whole collection, then pick it up but otherwise you can safely skip this game. It's not a worthy addition to the Broken Sword series and when I play the series through, I usually skip it.
