Genau so gehts mir hier.

GREAT FUN !

Fazit: Kaufen, spielen, lieben

I hate this game because it reminds me of math.

You don't understand shit until you figure one thing out after hours of crying and then it's suddenly the best orgasm ever... until you get stuck on the next problem.. and repeat.

In some way the game resembles my love life, with the only difference that rufus gets the girl and I don't.

Mixed. Slightly funnier than the first and the story is a bit more interesting. Otherwise, you should expect much of the same as the first one.

This series will make you think outside the box. That is a box of sanity, reason and 4th walls. I wish they would have said computer requirements were hand cushions as i found me hand slammed into my face multiple times as well as uncontrollable laughter. If your used to the adventure games where the entire world is stupid and your the only sane one trying to make sense of it ... this is the opposite. The world is trying to just get by and many would prefer you not in it

A point and click game with a nice style, BUT.
The main character of the game is not a good, nor a cool person. That's fine to play as an asshole, however, his conclusions, actions and words just don't add up. Sometimes you see him actually doing something appropriate to the situation, but with a completely garbage and different voice acting. I get that the budget can't draw all the facial expressions for people, but in so many places it just broke my enjoyment of the story, or a character. As to his personal logic - it's hard to guess when he suddenly will turn into a human-like creature and when he will do just random out of context shit.
Now, of course, the main argument in point and click games - logic. Some decisions are extremely not logical to come up yourself with. You gotta look at a guide and see how stupid was the original intention.
Finally, the amount of bugs that break the game is just too much.
At least it's cheap.. I guess.. It's a shame such cool designs of environments had to be wasted on dumb gameplay and characters.

Backlog review, amazing music but as the game is years old I review the reviews first... First thing people are leaving negatives about is a critical game breaking bug that has been around for years and still isn't fixed.

Next up, will not start or can't be configured to run in 4K, windowed = negative, full screen = negative and such is this recommendation.

Chaos on Deponia is the second instalment of the Deponia point-and-click series by Daedalic Entertainment.

The story and the world are interesting.
The art style, music and voice acting are great and fitting.
The characters are charming (and odd) and the dialogues are full of humor.
The puzzles are often not very logical. You have to think outside the box a lot!

Information / Review English

Chaos on Deponia is a point-and-click adventure from the German developer and publisher Daedalic Entertainment.

Gameplay / Story

The game is directly linked to the events of the first part. You slip again into the role of the antihero Rufus, who tries everything to get to the Elysium space station, to save the junk planet Deponia, but above all to improve his own living conditions. At his side are the Elysian woman Goal, with whom he has already fallen in love with Deponia, the doctor and hobbyist Doc, and the garbage ship captain Bozo.
The game begins with an introductory sequence in which Rufus tells the story of the last part - somewhat heroically transfigured. When he's finished, we learn of another attempt on his part to get to Elysium, while Goal and Cletus are also on their way there in a high boat. However, this attempt fails, Goal is thrown outside and after an attempted rescue by Rufus, the two fall again down on Deponia.
During his mission, Rufus meets many bizarre and crazy characters, especially disorganized crime, a gangster connection and others.

Pro

+ Storylines are successfully passed on
+ Reunion with old friends
+ witty / humorous ideas
+ funny puzzles
+ Mini-games can be skipped
+ Achievements and trading cards

Contra

- Fast travel function not optimally solved
- no dialogue puzzles
- not all mini-games are explained
- History is not always comprehensible

Conclusion

Chaos on Deponia doesn't quite come close to the first part, but it doesn't matter because the humor compensates for this and ironed out the weaknesses. Buy recommendation for fans of the series or for those who like this genre.

Information / Review Deutsch

Huzzah! Another Depon-ya!

The game takes off where it ended previously. Deponia, Chaos on Deponia & Goodbye Deponia were written as one game, but it was too long, so it was molded into three games. I was slightly afraid the same scenes would be reused, but thankfully that doesn't happen. But it's very clear they used the same format: a small intro, then a big area with multiple quests for the player to do in any order, followed by two linear areas/quests. This time Rufus goes through 'Floating Black Market', which weirdly enough has no name. It is also not made of garbage, but normally constructed with bricks, some parts quite beautifully.
With the same development crew this game is also very high quality. There are very memorable characters, like for instance Janosh. He pronounces every 's' like 'sh', and oh boy, Rufus takes him to the moon and back with mocking him. Or a shopowner who is a robot, with his creator trapped inside him, frantically pounding the glass for attention, but noone notices him.
This game is more extreme than the first. Partly more difficult, sometimes more annoying, and some parts better. If you liked the first one, this is a no-brainer. But you must have played the first.
The achievements in these games are great fun. They take you all over the game, but some are way too hard to figure out yourself.

90/100
note: I played this on 'Deponia: the complete journey'

Chaos on Deponia is the second game in the Deponia series. In this game, Rufus and friends are on the run from the Organon. After an ill-advised attempt to catch up with Goal, she's in trouble again. Rufus has to wander around the Floating Black Market, trying to get Goal back in one piece and figure out how to defeat the Organon and get Goal to Elysium.

The gameplay for this one is pretty similar to the gameplay in the first game: it's mostly puzzles. I felt like these puzzles were a little more difficult than the puzzles in the first game. There were more places where I got stuck and more places where the logic was confusing. There was one puzzle in particular that was just terrible; it really took me out of the game it was so stupid. That being said, most of the puzzles were still pretty reasonable.

The story in Chaos on Deponia does a pretty good job of building on the story in the first game. The settings are new and different, the stakes are higher, and the complexity of the task at hand evolves in a way that makes sense and feels natural for the story being told. Getting to spend more time with our main characters and learning more about their personalities and backstories is also great, and many of the side characters are fun and interesting as well. It has a similar style of humor to the first game as well, although there are even more dark/mean-spirited elements to this one. It didn't bother me that much, but there were a couple of moments in particular that didn't sit well with me.

The problem with this one, though, is that Rufus is a lot more irritating than he was in the first game. In the first game, Rufus was mostly a jerk to people who weren't especially nice to him either, whereas in this game, he's a jerk even/especially to the people who are nice to him and help him the most. While he was still selfish and irresponsible in the first game, it was tempered by the fact that he also came off as a misfit among the people of his hometown. Taking him out of that setting makes him lose a lot of that element, and with it a little bit of sympathy, especially since he's more of a jerk by comparison.

Overall, Chaos on Deponia is a pretty good sequel to Deponia. I did have some issues with the protagonist and some of the puzzles, but overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience. If you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one too. 7/10

Chaos on Deponia is the second installment in the Deponia series. If you haven't played the first one (known simply as Deponia), it'd be a good idea to start there since these games run in sequence.

This game is a point&click adventure and puzzle game where you play as the hateably loveable Rufus on a quest to both get the girl and save the area through countless misdeeds and questionable ethics. Took me about 13 hours to beat on first playthrough (Got royally stuck on a certain door puzzle) using the mouse and some light keyboardery. Difficulty is Moderate. Recommended for 13+ due to suggestive themes and violence.

Good points

- This is pretty tight in terms of a Point&Click game. The story holds the fort and the characters are all amusing.

- The dialogue is entertaining and comically witty. There's a lot to listen to, but it's entertaining throughout.

- The scenery is just as good as the first Deponia, both detailed and atmospheric. Each area is unique.

- The music is catchy.

- There are two options to open the inventory, either clicking the upper corner or scrolling with the mouse. I really appreciated this since my mouse lacks a functional wheel.

- There's an option to skip puzzles if they're too hard.

- There is Platypus Bataka.

Bad points:

- More than once I experienced an annoying glitch where the inventory disappeared, another where I couldn't access the menu and had to force quit, and a third where the pointer was jittery. Needless to say, Save Often. Turning the game off and on again fixed the inventory glitch, and saving while it was going on didn't cause any issues. The menu glitch only happened once, and the jittery one fixed itself.

- The gondolier dude is near impossible to understand. I mean, I get that it's part of his character. But half his songs were garblegook. Had no freaking clue was he was saying.

- Some of the captions don't match the words being said. The captions for the transition songs didn't line up completely with what gondolier dude was gargling.

- Some of the puzzles lack a key element that'd make them far less of a headache to understand, never mind solve. No one will fault you if you have to look up a certain door puzzle's solution.

If you played the first Deponia and liked it, definitely pick up where you left off with Chaos on Deponia. The rampant glitches and confusing puzzles wont stop you from blazing your way through enjoyably and causing more havoc and misery for the citizens on both Deponia and Elysium.

well, i liked the first game, so try to play the second one.
music is still good, not amazing, just good. the game looks just like the first one.
the things i don't like – are the jokes and the ending of this part. jokes are stupid and vulgar, and the ending is... not bad, but in meaning of the plot and scenario kinda cheap.
but i want to play the next part to see what happend with this universe, and by the way i liked the gameplay and it's just a good pastime.

The game is in a way fun and challenging with the puzzles, as well as its story line. However, the one thing I cannot stand are the CHARACTERS. The main character is such a misogynist, so much so that it makes him overbearing and extremely unlikable. Throughout this game, as well as the first that I played through, all I wanted to do was to punch him square in the jaw.
Other aspects of the game that I slightly disliked are the fact that you actually kill some animals because the storyline forces it upon you. One more fucked up aspect of the game is that after taking everything the Poet owns, you still had the AUDACITY to take his mother's ashes (once again, to advance storyline) against his will.
Overall, it is a great point-and-click puzzle game that really requires you to think outside the box at times. I do not know if the main character's personality is made with the comedy aspect in mind, or it really is just how he is supposed to be, but I hate him with all my guts and feel that his personality did not age well.

Chaos on Deponia (2012)

The second game of the series, you continue the madness that is Rufus on his journey to help Goal. Still the same great comedy from the previous game with a few puzzles. The world is still a junk heap to explore.

pros

+ gorgeous looking and colorful hand drawn background artwork
+ well made long cartoony cut scenes
+ many different, funny and colorful cast of characters
+ good character animations
+ decent voice acting
+ nice musics
+ some enjoyable puzzles. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items
+ when you press to space, hotspots highlighted so no need to pixel hunting.
+ easy to use interface
+ there are steam achievements and cards
+ a few fun mini games

cons

- story and characters don't make any sense so neither do puzzle solutions
- there is no hint system for obscure puzzles with nonsensical solutions therefore generally you don't know what supposed to do
- forced and offensive humor. animals cruelty used as an comedic purpose and the game teases ruthlessly with homeless people
- characters can't run
- there are a lot of unnecessary long dialogues. i generally skipped them
- unlikable main character
- clicking items on inventory sometimes doesn't work

i admit Deponia series has some charm but i ll never understand all hype about these games.

Good sequel to Deponia and a bit longer (and harder) than the first one. Brings back the old characters and builds up on the plot. Puzzles can be a bit more Discworldish than in Deponia, but are not way too hard. I enjoyed the game very much.

In my ongoing and likely futile effort to write a Steam review for every game in my library (#287 out of 558)... it's time for Chaos on Deponia.

Chaos Deponia is for fans of point-and-click adventure game fans who adore the genre, don't think there are any major flaws with the usual formula, and have spent several decades wondering why, exactly, the genre lost its popularity in the mid-1990s.

I'm being snarky. I apologize. What I mean to say is simply this: Chaos on Deponia is an old-school point-and-click adventure games that embraces both the best and worst aspects of the genre. The story takes you from one imaginative locale to another, and drenches every NPC interaction with so much attempted humor that the narrative lacks any semblance of emotional depth or compelling stakes. It's like a saturday morning cartoon where every time you think you might be absorbed in the action, everything grinds to a halt as the mascot character turns to the camera, cracks a smile, and delivers a profoundly lame joke with incredible confidence. That's Deponia, in a nutshell.

So if you're a fan of the genre know what to expect: lots and lots of puzzles, backtracking, and snarky hit-or-miss humor. Personally I found much of the writing to be embarrassing to listen to--but it is fully voice acted, and the voice acting is pretty solid, which I suppose has to count in Deponia's favor. Many of the puzzles also seemed (surprisingly) intuitive, and while I can't exactly say I never had to consult a guide to progress, I didn't have to keep one constantly handy, which is a pleasant departure from the usual method of play for these games.

All-in-all this is a very tepid endorsement. The Deponia games are serviceable adventure games with very solid production values and puzzle design, but with very spotty writing. They're not for everyone, but if you managed to even find this review, I suppose there's a very good chance that they might be for you.

From Deponia to being a Di-/Duology.

On the most part it does not differ greatly from Deponia.

Still great soundtracks and intro songs, like in previous game.
Gorgeous Visuals and interesting characters, also like in the prequel.
It adds more variety tho, instead only p&c and puzzle, you get reaction minigames and at some point you even have to turn off the music.

Good and funny recap at the beginning. Gameplay is less exhausting and boring, although the p&c part is still meh for my part.
The ending was quietly more satisfying, rather then the one from the previous one.
Beside i'm still confused how fast Rufus managed to build the circular saw catapult to catch up with Goal and Cletus.

Very good game, a little bit older, but perfect to relax. Especially for later in the night to relax.

It's Daedelic, need I say more, Edna and Harvey, night of the rabbit, if you are fans of these, then you will not be disappointed.

A really fitting sequel to the previous game, Deponia, it continues the story really well and definitely brings back nostalgia from the first one, but also has its own defining characteristics, if you enjoyed the first one, you would enjoy this one.

Steampunk+Comic style=Deponia

In the end I have left quiz games like this one behind because I am not good at getting behind how to solve them,
but this is still a masterpiece of a game. The scenes feel very different to each other.
Everyone of them sounds and looks different and keeps the game always fresh.
a
The characters and story feel unique in their own way and seem to be complex and deep.
At least it skyrocketed my expectations.

If you like games that require patience and (depending on your skills) a lot of time,
then this is the game for you.

I actually liked the game. It feels like the first part, so if you liked the first part, then you will also like this sequel.

Unfortunately there is a bug (at least for me) which prevents me to continue playing the game. I already googled it but the tips didnt help with me (I am not the only one with the bug). I contacted the support of the developer, but they do not answer me. So this is it, I will not buy the other games anymore. You will not get support. Its sad, because the game itself is really good.
