Paradox hat sich entschieden Basis Elemente ihrer Spiele nachträglich rauszulöschen, daher eine Warnung an alle Käufer, ihr könnt nachträglich auf einmal nur noch ein halbes oder anders Spiel haben.

Zum Glück umfasst dieses Paket mehrere Versionen dieses Spiels. Majesty HD ist einfach nur Mist.
Die im Paket enthaltene Nicht-HD-Version ist aber hervorragend und dank der verschnarchten Spielindustrie ein Klassiker, an den kein neueres Spiel heranreicht.

Unfortunately this game hard locks my PC after about an hour of playing. I have no clue what causes it. Great little trip down nostalgia lane just wish it worked on my hardware.

Used to play it as a kid. Still fun after 21 years from release. I had 2 problems with it and here is quick solution to them:

1. Crosshair spamming black squares on screen

- copy & paste this to launch options: -useddblit -blitmovietobackground

2. Game freezing after a few mins

- go to SteamsteamappscommonMajesty Gold EditionMajestyData
- open MusicTracks with a notepad
- delete everything here (game will have no music but it'll fix the freezes)

I've made it through all quests with no problems but game may crash if you go too crazy with building after completing the quest or in freestyle mode.

Next step will be trying Majesty Gold HD! Which should be the overall better version of the game for modern systems and with a few extra quests!

Ah... It's OK. This is a fantasy RTS with indirect combat. The graphics are dated but still kinda nice. Decent music. A bunch of little stories rather than a big tale.

Bugs, yup. But the truly annoying thing is that the game freezes randomly and crashes. Runs fine on Win 7.

Overall, is entertaining. There´re plenty of missions and a lot more with the Northern Expansion included. There're funny voices and attitudes. The combat is indirect. You need to offer rewards to lure the heroes to do what you want, but these units might do whatever they want. So is not your usual RTS and requires a different approach that might take you a while to figure out. The difficulty spikes from very easy to insanely hard. Rage-quit is a possibility here. Don't forget to save often cause you don't know when the game is going to freeze and some missions are very long to solve. This is one of those games that is rated way too high by the nostalgic army. The crashes, the unbalanced scenarios (too easy or too hard) are both arguments to demote this game to the niche realm. Original to play but might end up being a frustrating experience for those more focused on casual and well-defined progressiveness. I will give it a thumb up but I'm not enthusiastic about it.

I played this game so much as a kid, It's unique in the sense that you don't actually control your units, you are a king not a god, you can only set rewards and bounties not force your units to do anything. The developers of this game really put time and care into creating this and it shows, For an old game this still has a lot of replay value even in 2021.

I spend so much time in this game I think it's only fair I give it a positive review. You just cant beat a good old game. Until recently I was still playing on the old disc with the world in your hands.

Very nice medieval strategy with a note of humor, which makes gameplay more fun and entertaining.
The peculiar voice acting spice it all up and adds a bit of a hilarious atmosphere.

In this strategy, you do not control your units directly. Getting them to do what you want can be tricky enough. But that's part of the game's charm. The heroes go about their business, and you, as best you can, bribe them to make them go your way. Also, you must take care that they have all the conditions to provide themselves with the necessary equipment.

The campaign is interesting since here you can't choose one approach, and apply it to all subsequent levels, each must be solved by its own.
The story is simple but it doesn't feel plain, because it does not take itself too seriously.
Gameplay starts very simply, but as you move along the map it becomes more and more difficult.
Some of the missions can be pretty challenging and require a very precise order of actions and a good knowledge of the basic elements of the game.
Don't be confused by the wrong difficulty tags, though.
The difficulty of levels may vary not that way as stated in the descriptions.

Probably no point to reviewing this game, since the only people looking it up will be people who played it as a kid. And if that's the case, you already know what a gem it is. If you think it's just fond nostalgia, then buy it and see you were wrong. It still holds up and I wish they would make a new Majesty that has the charm this game has.

Tryly amazing Lord of fantasy simulator, the voice acting is just amazing, the world is nicely build, the missions go from easy to nightmare, but hey, protect your tax collector, or beat the crap out of your town and extort money.

Very endearing lightweight kingdom management sim with a really cool magic system.

There's really not a lot out there like this, which is a shame. It's really good.

This one of my favorite classic RTS/RPG/SIM games.

I've been playing this game since this was released on CD and I've got the steam version too! There been times that this game draws me back to play and I am glad that this game has mod support and steam multiplayer support within the beta patch.

A forgotten masterpiece .
Overall in 17 hours I have finished the game twice (not including the expansion)
Because there is no video to show game play in the steam page I will try to explain it with words.

In majesty you will control the following aspects of your kingdom:
1) construction of buildings (markets , blacksmith , guilds etc)
2) you will pay for the training of different heroes .(wizards , necromancers, healers , barbarians etc.)
3) you will upgrade buildings so they will provide you and your heroes with services and spells
4)you will be able to cast spells to help your heroes in their fights and even to resurrect them from the dead
5)put bounties on enemies or for exploration tasks.
6)create trade routes by building trading posts and markets.
7)control which buildings to tax .(and try to make sure your tax collector isn't getting attacked)

what you can't do:
1) you can't control your heroes - they all have their own personalities and will act accordingly.
they will earn money by completing bounties or by finding treasures and killing monsters.
they will use this money to upgrade their gear , learn new spells and buy potions.
the money they spend in your buildings will create tax revenue that you can collect
2)some buildings like houses and graveyards , will be created automatically as you play (some can spawn monsters like zombies and giant rats)

so over all you spend your time building and looking up for your heroes with spells .
You will watch your heroes leveling up , walking in groups or alone , running away from powerful enemies if they are not brave enough , and after finding many treasures you will see them upgrading their gear and buy potions or even just going to the library to learn new powerful spells.
All heroes are very unique so choosing the right ones for the mission is important.

If you love strategy games I think you will like this unique classic even with its old graphics.

If you choose to play this game I will recommend to raise the game speed while playing.
and (I will mention the opening cinematic didn't play for some reason for me but you can find it on youtube

I highly recommend this game. It's actually really detailed and challenging to play even in 2020. What really sells this game is the fact that you cannot directly control the heroes that you recruit - and this means you have to play around them and anticipate what they are going to do.

I really wish we could get a modern game that incorporates this in some capacity because it really is a super unique and compelling mechanic to have in a game, and it really makes playing the same levels completely different.

Why isn't there a proper successor to this masterpiece? I grieve! I mourn for these little islands of ingenious game design that get left behind in the endless forward march of popular video game culture. There's nothing like it. If you're into esoteric game design, or a bit of PC historian, you would be remiss to not experience this.

One of my favorite RTS games from my teenage years. I still play it from time to time, and still have the original disc although it stopped working on Windows 10. A must-have for any steam collection.
What makes the game unique is that you don't actually control the units, you recruit heroes of different strengths and weaknesses, and build your kingdom to assist them with items like potions and better armor and weapons. They choose how to spend the money they make by defeating monsters and objectives.
If you like RTS games with RPG elements give this a shot because it does both well.
