Über das Spiel

Plan the perfect heist using creative problem solving, brute force, and everything around you. Teardown features a fully destructible and truly interactive environment where player freedom and emergent gameplay are the driving mechanics.

Tear down walls with explosives or vehicles to create shortcuts no one thought was possible. Stack objects, build structures, or use floating objects to your advantage. Take your time to create the most efficient path through the level and get ready to run.

The moment you pick up your first target, an alarm goes off, and the heat is on. Run, jump, drive, slingshot, do whatever you need to collect all of the targets, and escape before security arrives.

Campaign
With your company pressured by increasing debt, you start accepting work from some more or less shady individuals. Soon you are knee-deep in a murky soup of revenge, betrayal, and insurance fraud. Beginning with some more or less legitimate assignments, you soon find yourself stealing cars, demolishing buildings, blowing up safes, and more. Upgrade your expanding arsenal of tools by searching for hidden valuables scattered around the environments.

Sandbox
Play around in the various environments with the tools you have unlocked. In this mode you have unlimited resources and an abundance of vehicles. No pressure, just pleasure.

Challenges
Test your skills in experimental game modes. New challenges unlock as you progress through the campaign.

Modding
Build your own environment or modify one of our examples using the free voxel modeling software MagicaVoxel. There is also a Lua API to change the behavior of the game.

Features:
  • Fully destructible voxel environments
  • Realistic physical simulation of objects, debris, vehicles, water, fire, and smoke
  • Ten different tools ranging from sledgehammer, blow torch and fire extinguisher to guns and explosives
  • A campaign with an escalating storyline and a gallery of interesting characters
  • Sandbox mode for you to roam around in the various environments

It's a really great game for destroying (obviosly). If you're mentally unstable it's great too! But the campain isn't for everyone, because there are some VERY frustrating missions that turn your mental instabillity into insaneness. At least you have the sandbox where nothing is limited. You can download mods and new maps from the steam workshop for FREE which is another really good thing about the game.

Overall I think it's really worth playing if you like explosions.

Sehr guter open-world-heist-Spass!

The game looks pretty good and runs well on my 1080TI most of the time. I think the destruction is really great and it's really satisfying too, but it's a pity that gravity doesn't really play a role. Because as long as a wall still has a connection to its surroundings at one point, it will stand firm and doesn't collapse. Pretty unfortunate, but I understand the problems to make this work well, but maybe it will be implemented in the future.

Overall a solid E.A. game with high potential.

Teardown also. Was ist Teardown eigentlich?

Positiv:
Grafik (zumindest für mich)
Fahrgefühl
Zerstörbare Level
Physikengine
Mod Support

Negativ:
Viel Potenzial bleibt bisher ungenutzt
Kleine und wenig Maps
Level Grinding

I was very hyped for this game. Sadly it isn't a game but a unoptimized tech-demo running on a single core.
It's lacking content and as soon as u start destroying big buildings the performance drops heavy and the level remains unplayable. Plus bigger buildings don't even collapse until u divide them in multiple smaller parts. This surely isn't worth the 20€ I paid. It feels like a free demo for the real game.

I really like the technological approach and style of it, but it is, in this state, unplayable.

The lower you tear your FPS down, the closer you get to the perfect gameplay.

Serously enjoyed playing through the story missions and trying to do all objectives. Endless ways to do those missions or just having fun destroying the nicely built worlds the dev gave to us.

I bought Teardown back in 2020, and I got into the modding community pretty soon after. I've made Mors Longa, Forgotten (along with some other amazing people) and I've been working on another big mod recently as well. However, the recent update has really doused the spirits of the modders that I know, some quitting the game "until the changes are reverted".

After the game's aquisition by Saber interactive, Saber thought it would be a good idea to break or change every single feature that was in the game just so some little console kids could give them more money, along with their base-game price increase (nice one, you broke the game and increased the price). I woke up on the morning of the update to 100 messages in discord about how the mod we're working on is broken, how other mods (like Mors Longa and some others) have been affected, etc.

Honestly, it was a great platform for modding, but the campaign was pretty mid and the new DLCs aren't much better for their value. So if modding goes, there's not a whole lot left. This all just seems like a cash grab by a greedy company, not how the developers at Tuxedo used be.
Buy it if you want, but just know that it will only be downhill from here. It's sad to say that I may even be fed up enough with this new update that I won't finish my next mod, but it was a good run.

Nobody bothered to mention that the entire story / 'campaign' is timed puzzles. Timed puzzles during which you need to be extremely careful how much damage you do - the complete opposite of the destruction mayhem that is promised.

Stressing over timed puzzles and having to meticulously AVOID doing damage was not what was advertised.

It's insane that hardly anyone has mentioned this, so buyer beware.

Let’s be honest, there are few things more satisfying in games than blowing stuff up and wreaking havoc. In Teardown, you get all this, plus an interesting and challenging story, campaign, or whatever you want to call it. Use your wits and skills to carefully plan every single step, or destroy everything with brute force, it’s up to you. Personally, we prefer the latter. Also, yes, we will be referring to ourselves in the third person to sound more credible. Teardown offers you the choice to decide how to conquer your mission. The heist theme fits well, and the music feels superb while you steal cars, blow up buildings, and use various means never thought physically possible before (Yes, lasers) to complete the objective. Even if everything is just blocks, the world feels surprisingly developed and genuine. The audio quality is excellent, it sounds really dramatic and polished. Seriously. You’ll be hearing the engine of your car groan in agony as you send it to its untimely death at the hands of that unrealistically large propane tank. Well, maybe not, but you’ll definitely hear that glass breaking into a trillion little pieces after you send your brand new Jeep careening off the edge of your cliff cabin.

Gameplay

The campaign is exceptional and extremely challenging at times. Especially in the beginning, you will be timed, and the game can be very unforgiving in this aspect. Many levels require an advanced stage of planning that we didn’t have the mental capability to do, and we found ourselves in sticky situations too many times to count. You will also find yourself having only an intimidating few seconds left once completing the level, even after meticulously planning everything out for 2 minutes in your basement using Microsoft Paint. You will be attempting many levels multiple times, and you will find yourself frustrated, but there’s always the sandbox mode where you have free rein over literally everything. With the new spawn feature, you can spawn any vehicle/prop in the game, including mods (We get excited even thinking about it).

The destruction and physics in Teardown are phenomenal. From buildings collapsing in clouds of rubble and dust, realistic fires and explosions, to wishing it had official multiplayer, Tuxedo games has absolutely mastered it and raised the bar for other games. The truth is that no other game offers what Teardown does when it comes to this department. You’re going to want to try every single tool and weapon at your disposal and see what effects it has on the environment. That’s a better way of saying wrecking and blowing up everything on the map to satisfy your need for destruction and weird looking robots (Yes, there are some). With an incredibly huge workshop and exceptional mod support, you won’t be running out of things to do anytime soon. You can trust us on this.

Graphics

And when it comes to graphics, you’ve surely seen the trailer already, and you know that with Ray Tracing built in, you’re going to get some of the most realistic lighting, shadows, and particles available with current technology. This is also a fancy way of saying you’re gonna need a nuclear reactor to run this. Teardown has some of the best graphics in any game we have reviewed so far, and that’s even considering that it’s voxelated. You’ll be staring in awe at the extremely detailed yet simple visuals Teardown has to offer, while at the same time thinking about how much you want to blow it up. Yes, the beauty of this world is only emphasized when the C4 and blowtorch come out. Watching a cabin burn on the hill as smoke and fire pour out of the windows with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset has a special feeling to it. We are not a psychopath. You can trust us on this.

Performance

We wish you much luck if you’re going to be trying to run this with anything worse than a GTX 1060. Sure it’s possible. But enjoyable? Think again. You want to get as many frames as possible while watching your wonderful getaway car being ripped to shreds by law enforcement (We are not making this up). Seriously, though, you’re going to want a good system to render those juicy frames of destruction while your CPU rivals the sun in heat calculating the mess of blocks you made. Also, yes, you will be seeing FPS drops while you perform an incredibly unrealistic attack on that new building of yours by spawning multiple hundred nukes. Just take it easy and you’ll be fine. Really though, you can see FPS drops while doing intense destruction, and that’s probably expected considering what we know you are going to be doing to that perfectly nice mansion.

Verdict

In all honesty, we think you’ll enjoy this game. I mean, come on, who doesn’t enjoy destruction? Even if it’s just to release your anger, or even to build something beautiful to post on the workshop just to have it be utterly mutilated and dismembered by other players, we believe most people will enjoy what Teardown has to offer. From picturesque vistas and rolling hills and rivers flowing through them with wonderful mountaintop houses to what used to be a pleasant little working town now turned into radioactive grit by thousands of missiles you totally didn’t fire at civilian targets, there’s something for everyone.

I think the game is already very technically impressive, but I still cannot help but wish it was slightly more impressive. What I mean is that the physics simulation kind of breaks down at a large scale. If you were to break down half of the supports of a building, the building will not collapse under its weight. You need to break EVERY wall around a building to make it collapse. You could have a large house being held up by a small pillar that is only one pixel wide. To me, this sort of takes away from the fun of playing with a realistic physics engine, because it is not realistic when dealing with large objects.

Overall though, each of the missions are still fun to work out and complete. I think the missions are the saving grace of the game, because it is still satisfying to play.

So I got notified that this game is on sale right now from my wish list. I forgot about it for a long ass time but looked up some videos and remembered it slightly. Thought I’d give it a shot since I had the money and it looked like my kinda game and I was not disappointed.

Disclaimer it’s pretty intensive so you’ll want at least a decent PC but the game itself auto turns on Vsync since they say it’s best for performance and I mean yeah.

TL;DR: it’s a fun as all hell destruction sandbox where about 70% of the terrain (e.g cars, boats, buildings, trains and cranes) can be destroyed and ripped apart with the multitude of weapons you can get from the base game to simple modding with the steam workshop.

Now for the non lazy cunts:

Onto why you should sell your kidney

It is the funnest game I’ve played in a good while. The entire game is a physics sim where you own a demolition business. All of the cars boats and shit are able to be destroyed and so is a lot of the terrain. Every building can also be destroyed.

You get loads of tools from rocket launchers to a blowtorch to a sledgehammer plus it also has a steam workshop with anything from a portal gun to a lightsaber to a mini gun to a nuke launcher to an air strike and even a jet pack.

There’s a campaign where you can follow the amusing ass story from deadly robots where you escape a secret robotics testing bunker to racing to destroying buildings to theft all with loads of interesting challenges for you to find your way around like the aforementioned guard robots to alarms on items you need to steal to fire alarms which require you to not let fires out of control or you’ll be caught.

If all that for the price of 14£ right now on sale can’t convince you then I don’t know what will.

I was finally able to live the dream a drive a truck through some rich trust fundee's mansion while they were away, my only regret is I wasn't able to be there when they got home see the look on their face.

Oh, I also picked up Teardown on steam while it was on sale, very fun mix of demolition type environmental destruction and heisting. However as some have mentioned if you have a low end PC this game will hurt it, at best your frame rate will tank and at worst game will crash and maybe take your PC with it.
Still a lot of potential here and the workshop only has been proving as much. I'd say get it on sale if you want to get it before full release otherwise just follow it and wait.

This game is wonderful.

From the satisfying explosions & realistic lighting and weather, to satisfyingly destructive fire and physics, Teardown is by far the most amazing game I have played in 2021. I may be a bit late to the party, but Teardown has the potential to hold up for the future. If this ever gets ported to next-gen hardware, it would be magnificent. Everything in the game is so amazingly satisfying. Teardown, I must say, is the ultimate stress reliever. There is something so magical about seeing semi-realistic destruction, with no real consequences. Don't even get me started on the infinite stream of modded weaponry, maps, and random features I didn't know I needed.

The game is presented in the trailers as a sandbox physics game about tearing down buildings when in reality the game is a race-against-the-clock heist puzzle game where you have to create a path to your objectives by destroying buildings, setting up vehicles, creating platforms etc, which is WAY less fun than it sounds. Misleading advertising and way less fun than I hoped it would be.

How to teardown:
Step 1: set fire to a building and watch in awe how cool the smoke particles are in this game;
Step 2: the particles are so realistic that you start to smell smoke irl!;
Step 3: you feel the warmth of a real fire!;
step 4: you realize that your pc is on fire aswell, with realistic particles just like the videogame!
Profit.
11/10 would buy a new pc to play this again and again.

After 2-3 missions game gets boring and repetitive. Go to x place, come up with an efficient strategy, destroy 1-4 items/buildings within a minute, escape, repeat. Missions become more and more difficult, making this game less enjoyable with every single one - ~20 minutes of trying to finish a mission, finally managing to finish one with barely any time left and there's no reward for it, except for new weapons (cool..).
I know this is an early access game, but a core concept of it is flawed, so it's unlikely it'll be changed to make Teardown an enjoyable game.

Satisfying fun game that you can download mods through steam workshop to! the game is extremely fun with mods and i recommend it very much, note that the game is very demanding though so if you want a smooth experience you might want to upgrade if you don't already have a high-end setup. the gmae has ray tracing that you can't disable, i guess you somehow can if you mess with the files but i wouldn't do that.

its super important if you plan on buying this game you understand that it very quickly becomes a speedrunning/time trial type game, if you enjoy that type of gameplay, then this game could be a lot of fun. but if youve come looking for a super varied heist game, or want to play levels that focus on the fun destruction aspects of the game, You may want to skip it.

For me, the game was very enjoyable at first but quickly became frustrating, especially if you want to complete all the objectives a level has to offer. Completing objectives within a time limit can heavily rely on driving, especially on certain levels. that would be okay if the driving was good, but youll often get stuck on small pieces of broken walls or objects, and the cars are very floaty and difficult to handle. the destruction is super fun and satisfying, but it esentially is only used for creating a path towards whatever items you have to grab within a level so you can beat a timer. I have not completed the game, and plan on coming back to it in the future, but for now I am going to give it some time.

Breakdown of what this game (currently) has to offer:
+ Fully destructible objects. Doing so feels like breaking Lego sculptures. It's awesome.
+ Fully operational vehicles. Some go fast, all crumble upon heavy impact.
+ Missions with progression. Beat Campaign missions to level up and unlock more tools/weapons.
+ Steam Workshop support. This is a must. These mods only include: Weapons, tools, and maps, but it really makes this game worth putting hours into.

Things this game does not have:
- NPCs :(
- Offline or Online Multiplayer (this is understandable)
- Special game modes, not even on Workshop. The base game has Sandbox and Campaign, but nothing like what you can get in Garry's Mod

Absolutely everything in every map can be destroyed in various ways and it's extremely satisfying to do so with the perfectly crumbly physics breaking anything you want into pieces. This game is like Garry's Mod in the sense that you need Steam Workshop mods to get as much as you can from it, otherwise you're really missing out on what feels like the full game. There might not be as much to do here as some other sandbox games, but what this game focuses on is the destruction physics and they did that extremely well!

I really wished steam used a rating 1 - 10 system instead of this binary yes/no recommendation.
I really liked this game but I can see why people would rate it as a no.
First off, I wanna say it's a great physics game, no arguing that. But it does have some questionable design choices regarding it's campaign mode and sandbox mode and how they relate to each other.

I understand a campaign mode, games like this need campaign mode or it will be boring quickly. Kudos for the developer for implementing that. What I do not like is how campaign mode Influences the sandbox mode.

It is extremely stupid for the game to not give you all the tools in sandbox because you have to unlock it in campaign mode first. Which defeats the purpose of a Sandbox mode. It's a sandbox mode because I can do what the hell ever I want, if you restrict the tools, then what's the point. Some people just wants to wreck shit for 5 minutes and be done for the day.

As for the campaign, there is surprising lack of levels where your main objective is just to wreck shit in general. I have not finished the game, so I can't really say there's not that many wrecking levels. just that so far I have not countered them as much as I expected.

There is a couple to a few levels I can remember where you need to topple down a tower/building, most of the levels are heist levels. Where you need to steal some stuff, i.e. cars, paintings, id cards etc, under a minute, and the timer won't start until you pick up one item. So there's room for you to wreck stuff and find the best possible way.

Personally I don't mind this type of mode. It's really fun if you love being creative to find what's the best possible route. But I can understand people who bought this game expecting a good relaxing session of break stuff and explode shit. It's a bit of a letdown. Timed levels tend to give people anxiety and some people just don't want to get stressed out while playing.

The most stupid part of this is : These Heist levels are Mandatory. What do I mean about this? You need to finished these stupid levels to progress and unlock all of the maps and weapons on campaign AND sandbox mode.

Would've been fine if the developer made the sandbox an actual sandbox for people who just want to spend half an hour to just simply wreck stuff.

Now that's off my chest, let me say good things about this game. Most, if not all of them has been said. It's an amazing physics simulator. Metal feels like metal, bricks feel like brick. Vehicles are destructible and drivable. I can't put into words how amazing the whole physics simulation aspect. As matter of fact, I'll let other positive recommendation tell you what's good about this game. They can explain it better.

Tl:dr

great physics game, a bit of a letdown as a sandbox game. Need to unlock stuff in campaign to be used in sandbox mode.

Buy if you love physics simulator and doesn't mind timed levels.

Don't if you just want to get in, wreck, get out and have no time to finish campaign modes.

9/10

-1 for not giving 100% on sandbox mode

If the timing wasn't so stiff I'd like it, idk maybe I'm just not as good at games as I was 20 years ago. Breaking stuff is fun though. Get it if you like strict time attack missions and voxel based destruction. Just not for me though.

This game is really fun. 2x as fun since they added workshop support, lots of variety.
You don't need a super computer to run it. My PC is mid-range and I get 60FPS on high graphics, 75% render scale 1080p and vsync on.

I just wish the devs wouldn't try to make you do campaign mode before you play sandbox. I paid for the game, I should be able to play sandbox if I want.

Regardless, once you unlock the sandbox mode it's a blast.

This game has amazing potential for fun and great demolition gameplay...

...which it wastes completely by making 90% of the campaign missions stupid speedrun challenges.

If you enjoy speedrun challenges then, by all means, knock yourself out.

If you're anything like me and don't want to be forced to do the worst type of gameplay imaginable to progress to the amazing missions that make up the other 10% of the game... then you ought to stay away.

I wish i could tell you that the sandbox mode could save the game by just giving you some toys and some playgrounds to mess around in but unlocking more sandbox maps is done by progressing the horrific campaign so i can't even give it that.

Sad to see a game kneecap itself this hard.

Teardown is a weird game. Never before have I felt compelled to write a full on review about a game but this feels different. Teardown is too good for that. The graphics are stunning and often I find myself watching nothing happen. The world feels so developed and like a real place even though everything is blocks. The audio is so good and sounds really meaty, impactful and realistic. The core gameplay is fun but I think some people might get confused about what this game really is. It is a voxel based destruction game where you can do a couple types of missions. Missions where you steal stuff in 60 seconds and Missions where you destroy stuff with no time limit. This game is NOT like payday 2. If you go in thinking like that you will be disapointed. It is a game like no ever, so difficult to put into a section but I can tell you what type of person would like this game.
Do you like portal or a game like that where you have to think outside of the box to get the goal? You will love this game
Do you like destroying stuff and nothing else? You might like this game but might get stumped at some of the puzzles.
Do you like doing heists with the law on your back? You will hate this game. This is not payday 2
Do you like having a good time with friends and like destroying stuff, having a beer, and having some laughs and awes with your friends? You will really like this game. No multi player but it is fun nonetheless.
Overall I give this game a 4/5 because there are a tiny bit of glitches but this is written in early access so honestly I think this game will be a 5/5 game in the near future.

10 hrs of gameplay.
fun, kinda annoying with the timed missions...90% of them....
and no tall buildings to watch fall down on other ones except a singular lighthouse that doesn't rly do much dmg.
so. kinda dissapointed, but, still enjoyed it for what it is

An incredibly entertaining game that combines speed-running, heists, simple physics and puzzle mechanics.

Pros:

1) Almost everything within each sandbox is destructible, meaning that you can get as creative as you'd like with the way you plan on going about each mission.

2) The story is simple but hilarious and filled with ridiculous amounts of domestic destruction.

3) There's a great amount of replayability value here for those interested since there isn't just one way to succeed in each mission.

4) The aesthetic is both functional toward the nature of the game and visually pleasing.

Cons:

1) The game is quite resource heavy. I would not recommend picking it up if you do not have at least an above-average computer.

2) The physics in the game can bug out at times leading to frustrating re-loads being necessary every once in a while.

3) The ground clearance on vehicles doesn't make too much sense and vehicles get stuck on top of rubble a little too easily.

Purchased the game expecting to dawdle around in a sandbox for a bit now and then. Ended up tearing through much of the campaign after playing it for 7 straight hours in one sitting.

The physics are really brilliant. One thing I did was take a blowtorch to a refrigerator to tear the door off of it, which I then glued it to the top of a water-sensitive safe so that I could carry it through the rain without setting off its alarm. The game doesn't necessarily intend for you to do this, but the physics engine just happens to allow for it to work.

Planning routes is incredibly invigorating once you've started feeling it out. I don't know if this is the case for everyone or just me, but I made very good use of my spray paint tool to draw out my path as I went along. Other times it can be fun to forgo the bonus objectives, grab the shotgun, and just blast through walls as you frantically run through the level without scouting anything out (which is often much more of a challenge).

Oh, and the sandboxy elements still work. Nothing is stopping you from just blowing everything up just to watch the world burn (except for your limited ammo, but custom maps via mod support can and do fix that).

It's not often I recommend a game so quickly after playing it for the first time. This game is pretty good.

Just spent the first 2 hours of this game in tears of laughter. If you think you can do something in this game, you probably can. Drove a boat through a harbour. THROUGH. Not into. Through. 10/10 would recommend.

Do you like blowing things up? Do you like speedrunning? Do you like being sneaky? Well then Teardown is a good game for you. Do keep in mind however that you need a good pc. I have a GTX 1070 and with 75% scaling and the highest settings i get a consistent 60 FPS at almost all times. If you want a smooth but still good looking experience then you may want a 1070 or higher. Overall the game is very fun and i would recommend that if you have a good enough pc then you should get it.

Positive: Teardown is an awesome game with an awesome premise and an awesome engine. Every physical part of this game is satisfying and fun.
Negative: That being said, I feel like a lot of this potential is wasted on variations of the same time trial mission type that has so far dominated the game’s campaign.
With most games I end up liking this much I usually have a hard time putting the game down and tearing myself from the screen. However, Teardown very often leaves me feeling fatigued and discouraged after barely scraping by one time trial mission, then realizing the next mission is really the same mission just with cars instead of paintings or safes or computers. So far (I want to say I’m around 12-15 missions in?) I can only recall two, maybe three missions that just let you demolish something, (or do anything other than a timed heist). As this game is further developed, I would like to see a larger variety of mission types, but man it still kicks ass and looks good while doing it, even this early on.
