Features:
  • Taktisches Team-basiertes Action-RPG
  • abwechslungsreiches Spielerlebnis dank 8 verschiedener Charakterklassen

Was soll da?

8 Player Coop-Survival Top Down Shooter.
Grab your Rifle and explosives and get ready Marine!
Its not easy to explain why it is awesome.. it simply is. You either get into it or you don't
And you won't really know until you tried it yourself!

The Red Solstice, similar story as with DotA 2, will definitly wake some old memories from the old Warcraft 3 days.
As it is Based upon Night Of The Dead AM and Night Of The Dead SO.

Game is definitely fun and challenging. I won't pretend I'm the best at these types of games but I definitely had a few levels that I struggled with even on recruit. I have yet to beat anything in the actual single player mode after the story line missions. As a game though, it's great fun. A few notes that may be on my end or may just be in the game.

There were a few audio glitches throughout the entire game. At least once or twice per level and once on single player. Something I only noticed once during the Outpost defense single player mode was that there were a few supply crates that were stuck in walls. Visible on both sides but the heroes couldn't actually pick them up. I believe the actual item was Sentry Turrets that you can place anywhere.

Overall though, a great game. I'll definitely be trying to beat it again at higher difficulties as I get better at these types of games.

Fairly sweet strategy game. Combat seemed pretty simple and at times a bit boring but overall a fun experience. Had a few minor bugs and it crashed a couple times but mostly ran fine.

Some stages were interesting others just felt kind of bleh. There's a good variety of missions and you can play in large group co-op if you can assemble enough buddies. Not a bad game for $10!

Note that this review is based entirely on time spent playing the multiplayer mode of the game. If your primary interest lies elsewhere, I defer to other reviewers.

The Red Solstice is top to bottom one of the most impenetrable games I have ever played. The action is slow and unresponsive, the controls are strange and unintuitive, the objectives are unclear and can leave the player wandering aimlessly for over five minutes at a time. Add to that the the game's effects render it every bit the budget title it was, even upon its release, and I can't imagine why anyone would play it.

The gameplay is kind of like if you took a version of Alien Swarm with greater class differentiation, and then you slowed the game down to 50%, randomized the controls, and made the player drink a fifth of whiskey first.

Oh, and then you actually made them pay for it.

Meh. I am already not a big fan of such games. But in addition, this one is extremely boring. Walk from A to B and let your marines auto-shoot. Wow. So much fun. You simply watch them have fun, instead of enjoying a good game yourself.

There are 10 missions in total. And only 16% of all players have finished the first mission. That tells a lot about this game.

There are much better games of this genre, as for example Gorky 17 or the Alien Shooter series.

The game has too many instances of random deaths that it becomes more of a game of chance rather than character progression. You and your team, even though military-trained (not sure if it makes a difference but it shows the level of team cohesiveness), can have all the upgrades, power-ups and be at full level, and many units can still randomly spawn on your character and one-hit kill you. The medic's life-drone also takes too long to cooldown. Highly unbalanced game in the AI's favor even at Recruit level. Don't waste your money, time and health playing this trash game.

I regret buying this game by looking back many years ago.

This community itself is already beyond toxic.

Their group their rules, their Host and their rules.

Also this community isn't friendly for Deaf, Hard of hearing and Non-headphone user.

Since they demand you to join TeamSpeak or kicked.

This is why number of players decline.

This dev need to hired an actually D/deaf tester/player to try out and see if they can defeated nightmare or top difficult to realize how HARD it is.

Unlike Starcraft 2 where you can spam ping locate of monster or spot to move before typing.

I don't plan to buy their future new games anymore. once you go toxic and you always remain as toxic.

No comment because of troll dev and veteran players who diehard by defending this game without knowing the whole story

The game is boring.

I have made it to the second marine team, third mission, on the hardest difficulty spending close to an hour watching my dudes shoot waves of zombies over and over. The waves aren't very big either, maybe 5 to 6 naked gremlins stumbling towards the space men. Sometimes I shuffled my astartes around to avoid getting carpetbombed by a drone. But I stopped once I realized I can keep my marines clumped and use the medic's healing skills to heal all that damage away. I've no idea when the 'area is clear' so that my squad can progress and move the checkpoint up to the next zone where they will stand around shooting things. I am not interested in playing a game with such a stale gameplay loop. While other missions are not as tedious, the gameplay is largely the same.

So, yeah. Pretty boring. :/

So fuck this game. It promises tactical command taking it's cues from spec ops units, but the execution is sub par at best.

Cons
You can't control how your squad moves. You click where you wanna go and the squad makes a train behind the squad commander. 1. this leaves you open to ambushes and 2. it means the lead guy uses all their ammo. 3. when positioning units for effective fire you have to actively push units around instead of a squad position system. Basicly what I want is that the units need to show unit cohesion. I'm not seeing it.

Mission 6 is a siege and needs to give the player more opportunity to create better defensive responses.
1. if you focus only on the squad you lose npc characters, but if you care about soldiers you don't want them to die. If you try and save them you risk losing control of the gates which are the objective.
2. Why were the strol allowed to create burrow holes outside the base on the front door step???????
I would want to put someone on house keeping clearing that shit. The one responsible would eating and sleeping in the toilet if this happened under my command if that situation were allowed to occur.

Mission 7 is a fucking joke.
1. Where are the strol coming from? Why does it feel like they're just spawning in?
2. 10 seconds was not nearly enough to fix a satchel to the reaper gun cause I fixed it in 3 seconds and the gun was firing on me pretty soon after (Didn't feel like 10 seconds at all).

Games premise is top tier, but that's my only positive for this game.
1. I like the idea. 2. Anything that is kin to warhammer makes my motor go VROOOOOM.

The general idea of the game is great, but the execution really lacks quality on many levels. To begin with, your team is difficult to control, controls are clunky, camera sometimes is not responsive. Action is way too fast and not very involving. Team management is rather superficial and it is not much to master there. Just move away from enemies and find more ammo. The story is interesting, though. And well told. The level design is the worst executed part. It is nothing interesting to do there. Just killing. But the game is still addictive! Hence, I like the game, but struggled to play it – a classic love and hate relationship. I was happy I finished it and feel no need to replay the experience. I am not sure if I ever obtain the sequel. I got the game on sale, hugely discounted, and it is the only way to be for this stuff.
Great potential, partially wasted.

I got Red Solstice on sale for 5AUD and do not regret a bit. It's worth at least 20.
This game has a rather steep learning curve, however, once you get used to the controls and the style of play the game requires of you, it rewards you with nice fast-paced action and a good progression from hard to harder.
I haven't beaten it yet but it feels good discovering more of the game; it's definitely not shallow. Also it does not feel grindy; it's fast, it's brutal, and can kill you if you are careless.
Overall, its level of difficulty is just right (for me), not too easy and not too hard as to give it up in frustration. One cannot just cruise through it without paying attention to what they are doing and you have to learn to use the abilities of each character in order to progress.
It's also a ton of fun! Pick it up on sale, it is a very very good game for your buck.

The game seemed like it had a great concept, with an excellent setup during the tutorial and the first few missions. A mars colony under attack by insurgents with a deadly virus thrown into the mix.

However once you get to the second mission, all of a sudden the game tells you to do things on your own.

OK, fair enough, I'll just move my soldiers on the map to explore and see what I can find.

Wow boy was I wrong, as soon as you try to exercise some amount of freedom in the game, the spawn rate dials way up and you find yourself being overrun by enemies, sorta like being overrun by zerglings in starcraft.

The attribute point system seems suspect as well, since you can also contribute points into RPM, Armor Resistance, Evade etc. But the really strange thing is that evasion goes up a full point while others only go up a fraction, which begs the question why bother with armor upgrades at all when you can max out evasion.

Units that you control move extremely slow, you have to invest points into the movement attribute to move faster, but this is stupid because it would be wiser to invest in DPS or Defense it isn't going to do much good when the game bang gangs you with infinite zerglings.

This game feels like a broken Starcraft-like game with mechanics that don't really work well together.

I died in the tutorial and the game didn`t even recognise it happened, it just sits there. A sure sign of quality.
Other than that, it`s squad based and I can`t twist my head around being able to move them anywhere wiithout being horribly murdered. Clearing the nests doesn`t help stop the tidal wave of monsters for more than a few seconds and only the active aiming perk helps with enough firepower for me to move 1 soldier at a time which means I move so slowly I run out of ammo. You`d think the tutorial might teach some tactics but apparently not and I don`t really have the patience. Maybe I`ll come back to it but probably not.

While a somewhat neat game, the death of its community and completely empty servers means this shouldn't be on sale. Don't buy it for multiplayer unless you and friends are intent on playing it together - its a dead game. Keep eyes on a sequel and if they can foster a better player experience and community.

TRS is a very average real-time tactical game. Single player campaign provides decent challenge, but otherwise it gets repetitive quickly to just position guys and shoot endless enemies, then move until you position team and shoot hundreds of enemies again. The story is not absorbing either. I abandoned this campaign half-way through as I lost interest. Multiplayer, on the other hand, is practically dead. I saw only one person in the multiplayer lobby and could not find any matches. Overall I do not recommend this even if you enjoy the genre.

Generic action heroes against generic aliens. It's not bad, but I am kind of done with that concept and with this camera format. I have played several games of that nature. This one is more tactical squad based and I do like squad based games usually. It is ok I suppose, but nothing new or refreshing. Take it or leave for sure middle thumb.

Fantastic top down squad based sci-fi game with RTWP ( bullet time mode ) to position your squad members. After a few seconds your people are in place and entrenched doing twice the normal damage. I see a lot of people own this game but few have beaten it. It's tougher than a manky whelk but great fun. Solid story line helps too. Highly recommended but not for the feint of heart.

Probably the most toxic 'coop' community I have ever encountered, we are talking DOTA 2 level hostility towards new players. All the reviews about the 'elites' of the community are absolutely true. As a result you have a pretty small player base. I'd recommend pretty much any other coop game over this one. The community slaughtered it.

From the screenshots I thought this would be a twin-stick shooter with an amorphous murder aliens for...reasons... type story.

It's not a twin stick shooter and the story has some fun (if predictable) twists. It plays a lot more like a real-time tactical RPG and the combat reminds me of Dragon Age.

The single-player campaign has you fighting through a series of missions with a slowly growing roster of Marines of various classes. It starts you out with the more generic classes and introduces you to the more specialized ones later on.

The world has both Alien and Warhammer 40k vibes so if you are into that sort of thing as I am you will get a lot of joy.

I must stress, before getting into the gameplay, that the single-player is not the main focus, it just happens to be fun. I liked it, but it's not for everyone. The story is mostly told in-mission, which is great. You can read stuff if you want but the vast majority of it is environmental storytelling, like you can tell it's the spacefuture from the marine suits and building design. The interactions between characters during the mission quickly establish who everyone is. I found that the story grew on me over time with the tropey characters and the over-the-top dialogue.

The only part I didn't like was the ending cutscene which was too long in my opinion. I suggest skipping it.

Ok so the gameplay, which is pretty fun:

In the beginning your Marines seem ridiculously overpowered but this feeling quickly disappears as the game reveals its true face. There are two main types of enemies, melee aliens and humans with guns. The aliens start to come upon you in hordes and you need to manage your crowd control and damage mitigation abilities successfully to avoid getting swamped. Then they mix in the humans and you need to swap over to focus firing particularly dangerous enemies and dodging enemy abilities.

The escalation of enemies is particularly enjoyable as I wasn't expecting a lot of what they started throwing at me later on and it was a lot more fun than I expected.

There's a lot of depth and customization available if you want to dig in to the mechanics but it also lets you just breeze through on Easy with defaults if you want. It's also quite a challenging game even on Normal (and there are two difficulty levels above that!).

TLDR I recommend this game for it's fun tactical RPG gameplay set in a future setting. Come for the over-the-top fights and spamming rocket launchers, stay for the surprisingly compelling story in a rich, lore-filled world.

If you enjoyed Alien Swarm or Helldivers, this is a no brainer.

The controls are a little confusing, but the fact that you can slow time to issue orders is a huge help in this kind of game. The story, from what I have done so far, is decent. The game itself openly rewards you for exploring the environment, discovering new weapons and armour mods you can equip once the mission is complete.

Fun for a solo squad tactical game, but also fun with friends.

Just be smart, bring a medic.

My friends and I got this game to play at a LAN because it supports more than 4 players.
It is a huge disappointment through and through after 25+ hours of playing.
Controls are bizarre and unintuitive and the actual multi-player missions are even more opaque and frustrating. Should have had a more star-craft like control system.
I've read what I can find for guides and most are woefully incomplete - and I've watched videos for hours trying to figure out how to complete a map.
Basically the winning strategies are not very intuitive or fun and the missions don't really make sense due to a lot of garbled information and competing mission clocks and wave timers.
In before: lol you just need to get good (or variation) <- certainly true, but the game is just not worth the time as far as effort in to fun out ratio.
So many frustrating games ending with a burrowing boss monster that corners you and does above ground AOE damage and destroys your seizmic resonator, getting nuked 2 minutes into a 4 minute evac mission - evac missions starting for seeming no reason - other missions ending or failing before timer or before parameters are even clear or regardless of the parameters stated in the mission briefing... It is all confusion and frustration and opacity.
Skip this. I won't buy red solstice 2 or anything from this dev.

If you're playing with the right people its okay. Most games are a mess though. People run around solo and get killed newbies and vets alike. There's no real division of labor involved. There are 8 different classes which can all be built to do more or less the same thing: run and gun. There's no team coordination, no bound and cover teamwork because people just try to outrun everything, and everyone thinks they are a recon. I really used to enjoy the old Night of the Dead games but this is more like the Aftermath spin off which didn't really require any squad cohesion. It's is a great game concept but it's just executed in a way that doesn't require squad mates to rely on certain squad members for specific purposes and in specific scenarios, even in organized games, making the game play very monotonous. Mostly it suffers from very dull and homogenized class design and tedious wave flow mechanics which players try to remedy by seeing how well they can do by basically playing solo for an adrenaline rush.

Warcraft 3 did it much better.

bad concepts
squad composition means nothing as the game is designed for you to finish a match with random explosives you picked up the whole round.
Missions are time locked, forcing you to use up the full 1 hour to complete the missions.
Hope you got a full team to because the bots are useless. You can let them auto follow you and they will never upgrade abilities, or you can tab to them upgrade their abilities and then have to constantly switch between them to make sure they are moving...

Decent game if your willing to put in the time to learn some mechanics. However, the online community is super elitist so unless you read a bunch of youtube guides or are just a seasoned veteran player of this game, people will just straight up kick you out of their lobby. Also, with the upcoming sequel to this game, its plagued by ads for the new game.

If you ever played and enjoyed NOTD or SWAT back in the Warcraft 3 days, or the mods made since then based on it, then you'd probably love this game.

Ok - played it back in the Beta.
Returned a few months ago.

The game is hard, manual aim and movement is the Key.
The community is small and experienced, therefore new players have a rough start.

The are several different classes which are really important in the mid-late game. (Tanks / DPS / Healer / etc.)
Choose your class for your role ingame - and play it that way. Stick together to survive. You are playing against the time. Choose your routes wisely!

By the way I've never played more than 2 campaign missions - this game should be played in multiplayer only (even if you are solo - you can still add bots and stuff).

Pro's:
+ Hard Game
+ Interesting RTS/Survival/Rouglike/Progression Game
+ Solo and Multiplayer are both fun.

Con's:
- learning curve = not new player friendly
- community is really small at the moment
- still some bugs (restart the game after every match)

Some small advices:
- Movement speed should be at least 4.5
- Always move unless the mission doesn't let you right now.
- Only shoot at things that are moving fast than you! (The big high HP Enemies are killed with explosives!)
- Use Manual-Aim (shift key) as much as possible - you are doing more dmg this way and can't miss like auto-fire does!
- only move into rooms which leads you into another / outside - don't trap yourself.
- You don't have to loot anymore after level/wave ~9 - you should have everything by now.
- Restart the game after every match.
- If you don't know anything - please ask the ppl ingame to explain stuff.

This game is terrible, it really is. 'Epic Campaign' is just a bunch of poorly-designed, boring levels with a story that feels like it was written by a kid who watched too much cheap sci-fi and zombie movies (was it? I'm not trolling, it's a legitimate question, the quality is THAT bad). Your teammates AI is some of the worst AI I have ever seen in RTS games. Yes - C&C tanks burning each other with napalm were smarter, and that was still bad in 1995. The core mechanics are ATROCIOUSLY unbalanced, they feel like they were slapped together in one evening without any playtesting. It can be mind-numbingly easy, and then throw an unexpected mob at the very end of the mission at you that would basically steamroll all of your squad, and the checkpoint system is idiotic, so you will probably loose about 10-20 minutes of progress, and will have to retread the level that was boring and unimaginative the first time you went through it. I would imagine most positive reviews are from the kickstarter backers with some kind of buyer's remorse, that's the only explanation for their existence. Oh, and if you are interested in the technical side - it uses only one core.. And it has no manual saving. And the viewing angle is so bad that it makes you skip stuff sometimes. Oh boy. People keep telling me that this game is 'all about online', but I have endured too much of the single player trash to waste any more time on this,
