Schon Man of Medan und Little Hope haben mir sehr gut gefallen. Little Hope ein wenig besser als Man of Medan.

Passt.

I liked it but it pissed me off that the friends pass doesn't work. Like it says we both need the full version but if that's the case then what is the point of the friends pass? And it isn't even being talked about, it's just ignored so i can't figure out how to make it work.

The Decent (2005) is one of my favourite horror films where a group of young women go on a cave expedition and come face to face with Wendigo kind of underground creatures. Well, House of Ashes, just let me play that movie. It is an amazing story for a game, very well told with a great cast of characters. If you are a fan of Under Dawn, or the horror adventure games, House of Ashes is a must-play.

Its a good game but very gorey and graphic. There is even times where it makes you jump out of your seat, everything relies on your choices. Better to use controller but using mouse and keyboard is fine. The game is a horror thriller, survival game its also a movie experience type of game, very cinematic but you got to stay on your tippy toes as some may require you to click buttons.

One part of the game there is shuttering when your in water so to avoid that make sure you have a good gaming rig but the game is still playable just might be annoying during that one scene.

This game definitely reminds me of the great horror movie Priest. If you seen the movie you can see the similarities.

When theres that time where you mess up just exit to main menu then select play alone then select scene selection then scroll down to the chapter you were on then click overwrite so then you don't have to restart the whole game for a mistake.

Don't skip the credits.

Sooo damn cool! The best game among the 3, hands down! (Until Dawn still top indeed, if you count it) Did not feel the 7 hours pass while playing, it was so good!
Lots of spooky moments, interesting characters - ships, lot of action, beautiful environments, and this time I really felt like choices mattered, more than in the 2 first games. Would definitely play it again in a few times to make new ones, see new paths/ endings or catch on things I missed!

A game that plays like a horror movie/action movie, the game does a good job of keeping you engaged as you go through the story as if it was a Netflix movie. The production is top notch, models look good and environments feel great, sound is good although it lacked the feeling of echo in some areas. I had a issue with water reflections on my AMD card flickering that jars you out of the movie. The gun tracers were a bit cheesy and unrealistic but meh what can you do. Trophies take many plays to get them all, but if you don't mind that it isn't hard to platinum. I liked the game and look forward to future games in the series.

If you are into movie where your choices matters (beware there are a lot of Quick Time Events), then you could like all 3 games of The Dark Pictures Anthology. The developers have made an awesome work technically.
House of Ashes is more classical from story perspective but I really love it. To bad, the game is not an action game. It could be great if it plays like an Horror Third Person Shooter.

I didn't know until now the game was made by the same studio that made Until Dawn. And I can't wait to play their next episodes.

My first entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology, and what a tale to start on! Without spoiling anything, the story is interesting, engaging and had me hooked right up until the ending! There is some genuinely terrifying scenes, especially if you're player 2! The multiplayer storytelling was a fantastic gameplay mechanic, and certainly adds the replay value to go back to see what the other player experienced on your combined journey.

Unlike a lot of horror genre games and films, EVERY character was likeable, every one of them feels like an actual human being, and they can form proper bonds and friendships, or bitter rivalries with one another depending on your choices. Special mention goes to Salim, without a doubt the most loveable and interesting character of the group. Never get in the way of a father and his son's birthday!

All-in-all, if you're a fan of the Dark Pictures series, or a fan of horror in general, pick this game up. Just be careful of what lurks in the darkness.

Another awesome entry love this series, think this might be my new second favourite after Until Dawn. Reminds me of a bunch of great films, clearly influenced by some genre classics, and while some of the characters arn't as flushed out as others, they won me over in the end. Story wise it's right up my alley hard not to get a kick out of this, lots of fun. Such a visually stunning game and not just the motion capture but the set pieces and creature design are all stellar. Unfortunately I was kinda underwhelmed by the Curator's Cut, hoped to see more alternate scenes, also It might be just me but I feel like there is even less gameplay in this one than previous entries, so much lost potential in that regard overall. But I know what I signed up for and wasn't disappointed. Played through it twice back to back, it's a thrilling ride and I'm looking forward to the The Devil in Me. 8.9/10

The best game in the series so far. No lengthy boring sections, good pacing, and very few bugs.
Previous entries in this series have frustrated me with bugs that took a long time for the devs to address (waited months to finish Little Hope after release because QTEs were broken for me), but this one worked out of the box with no issues.
The characters in this game are also much more interesting and believable than previous entries... not that the previous games had terrible characters, but House of Ashes has the best ones so far.
Played in co-op all the way through in one sitting without any issues.

The only negative I have for this game, and others in the series, is that I feel the price tag is just a little bit too high for a ~5 hour game that doesn't really feel worth many full playthroughs.

Edit: Forgot the second negative; no friend pass on release qualifies as a bummer.

This third entry into the Dark Pictures Anthology is without a doubt, the best entry in the anthology thus far. To the point that if you're new to the Dark Pictures Anthology series, this is the one I would recommend first; having played the other two chapters myself, I have to say, Man of Medan was 'okay' while Little Hope is a game I seem to dislike in further increments every time I think about the plot. I very much enjoyed a lot more fully in this one, and there were very few 'Oh, come ON' moments in this one, as compared to the previous two games, with Man of Medan being the most guilty on that front. One of the pluses of this being an anthology series, is that you can start on any of the three available games without needing to play the others, and if you want to spend money on the series, start on this one.

It's a bit difficult to go into WHY this game is better than the other two in my opinion, without going into heavy spoilers for the other two, and it also depends on your taste in horror, and the different genres in horror. The other two entries in the series lean more into the psychological horror, and mystery, with Man of Medan being more realistic, and Little Hope (poorly attempting) to be more 'deep' about it (Little Hope's plot is like a back alley off brand attempt to do Silent Hill, and it fails hard). This game, however, plays more into the action-horror genre, and I frequently found myself thinking of it as sort like a hybrid mix of Pitch Black, the Descent, and a light pinch of The Thing, and Ghosts of Mars.

Whereas in the previous games in the series, you are playing as civilians, in this story, every character is a member of the military, quite tough, and very much armed. While you feel 'safer' in a sense because of this, the threat you face is more than enough to avoid making you feel overpowered. You will feel a lot more tense in this entry, at least in my opinion, compared to the previous two games. I found the characters in this one to be a step up from the others as well, with one in particular standing out as having a really nice character arc, where he starts the story as a standoffish, borderline douchebag, and can become one of the most heroic characters, who will do things for others that you wouldn't have imagined him doing at the start of the story, and you genuinely feel as if he's grown as a person.

Plot-wise, I very much liked this one better than the other two; it's very much more straightforward with both, it's threat, and the situation they're stuck in, while still making it creepy and the tension fairly high. The story starts out far in the past, showing glimpses of an event that occurs, and then jumps far ahead to 2003, where that same threat is now encountered, buried far beneath the sands of Iraq, by a group of more modern soldiers. They are confused, disoriented, and have to try to escape said threat, while also dealing with an enemy general who doesn't seem to grasp the threat in the buried caves of the old civilization, and attempts to kill them several times. You also play as a reluctant soldier in the enemy army, who holds no ill will towards the other characters, and only wants to get out of the situation.

There IS an underlying mystery, of what exactly the threat is, and a sub plot of an older archaeology team who found the ruins in the WW2 era, that's also decently handled, a fitting backdrop to paint the situation further, without feeling like it takes too much out of the tension.

I will say, there ARE still a few of the almost trademarked 'Why can't I just do this' or 'Really?' sort of moments, where your characters, have the means to stop a threat in that moment, and just decide to NOT use it, for the sake of plot; without trying to give too much away, there is a part where two of your characters, both armed, are fleeing from a threat, and hide. It's the perfect opportunity to ambush this threat, as there are two of you, and only one of them, but it forces you to hide, and if you fail the 'heartbeat QTE' you will highly likely get one of the two characters you play as killed. It was one of the very few parts that actually had me irritated, but the game HAD warned me that there was a threat here, and I merely misinterpreted that warning.

The QTEs are for the most part, fair, though I hate the 'heartbeat QTE' which is the one that you must play whenever your characters need to be quiet and stealthy. I feel like the game doesn't exactly explain the way it works very well, in ALL three of these games, and seeing as if you fail THESE particular QTEs, more often than not it will result in death or injury, I feel like they should be more clear on it. You have to time your button presses to a series of prompts that slide along a bar, and I assumed you had to hit the button RIGHT as the prompt touches your cursor, like a rhythm game, but that is incorrect, and got me hurt or killed or put into a worse situation each time. It wasn't until my partner I was playing with informed me you had to hit the button when your cursor is right in the MIDDLE of the prompt, that I started to be able to pass those QTEs. If not for that, I would have failed EVERY heartbeat QTE that I encountered, and lost more characters, which, I feel would have made the death unfair, as I misunderstood how that mechanic worked. Perhaps a safe 'practice' mode for the QTEs outside the story would help?

Another thing regarding the QTEs; in this developer's early game, Until Dawn, the mechanic where you can decide to shoot/strike/throw an object or harm another person, it lets you know right away that sometimes NOT going through with the action, is a better choice. I don't know if I missed it here because I was already used to that mechanic and skimmed by the instructions, but I don't recall the game telling the player that they don't HAVE to shoot/stab/throw something when the prompt comes up in this one, so I could see someone accidentally killing or harming a character because they felt the game was forcing them to, when that isn't the case. Also, I feel as if they should change the icon they use for the 'button mash' QTE, where you must mash one button as fast as you can to fill up a meter to succeed a strength check. It looks a little similar to the regular one-tap button prompts, so sometimes it'll come up and you tap the button, and waste a second or two before you realize it's a mash prompt instead, and then have to scramble to start mashing. Even a game like RE4 handled it's mash prompts obviously, compared to it's one-taps, so I feel they could easily handle that in this game.

Beyond the minor elements of plot railroad with the 'why didn't we just shoot that guy when we could' mentioned above, and honestly, that was one of the only points that happened, there are a lot less of the flaws of the previous two games here, and it feels a lot more polished and smooth compared to them.

I played through (one time thus far) playing co-op online with a friend of mine all in one sitting, and I will say, I feel as though that's the premiere way to play the game, not to say the single player isn't good, it is, but going through with a buddy, who you can speak to and hear what's happening on their end (or not telling, if you want lol) can be a boon. I will also say that out of all the ending sequences in Supermassive Games series, this one has the best one, similar-ish to Until Dawn, which goes through all the surviving characters being interviewed by the police, this one runs through what happens after whoever is left (which could be NONE of them depending on how you play) manages to escape, and it's really cool.

All in all, this is the best game in the Anthology so far, and I can only hope that they keep this up for the next chapter, which is previewed in the ending to this game, as looking like a serial killer story, sort of like SAW? I'll be replaying this one to see the variations of endings, and really enjoyed it!

Man of Medan was incredibly boring and uninspired. Little Hope had an insultingly bad plot with the exact same jump scares copy-pasting 20 times. Given this, I went into House of Ashes with absolutely zero expectations, and I have to be honest. They were completely blown away.

Let your guard down if the past games have scared you off; its more than army dude bros fighting monsters, and the plot will NOT turn out to invalidate everything and be all a dream or a hallucination. There are some decent characters, very exciting moments, SUPER heavy atmosphere towards the end, and a fantastic finale that comes full circle. There's a twist, but it doesn't over-complicate itself, and the story reels itself in nicely.

I should note that I'm hesitant to describe this as a horror game at all. I struggle to remember if there was a single jump scare, and the only tension comes from trying to nail the QTE's correctly (surprisingly difficult in this one) However, given that the past two game's attempt at horror was filling them with the cheapest, lamest jump scares you've ever seen, I'll say this is truly a positive.

I'm shocked to say this, but I'm excited to see what Supermassive does next. Bravo!
