Gelungenes Remake von Master of Orion II.

In diesem Sinne , viel Spaß beim selber daddeln und Conquer the Stars ;)

1 Bezirke
2 Einheiten aus Stadtstaten ausheben
3 Religion
4 Natur Wunder
5 Weltwunder
6 einen Kulturbaum
7 Spezialeinheiten
8 Große Persönlichkeiten
9 Quests
10 Regierungsformen + Karten

und hier mal futers von Masters of Orion
Nachrichtenerstattung in video format

NULL Punkte

Solides rundenbasiertes Strategiespiel.

The game lacks the feel of the original MOO2. There are weird quality of life things like unskippable cut scenes, the fact that you have to redo your game settings each time you play, the wormhole travel instead of the fly anywhere aspect of the original game. Space combat , ship design, and ground combat are all uninspired and boring. I'll go back to playing the old game.

Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars is a faithful successor to the MoO series, reviving 90% of the fun of the first 2 games in the series while incorporating advances from subsequent modern 4x games. As someone who purchased and played the original two games last century, I was pleased with this version, and happy to revisit the old aliens from 3 decades ago. I recommend this game for players who would be turned off by the dated graphics and interfaces of the originals. It is a highly accessible place to start in 4x gaming.

The biggest improvement over the old titles I found was that the aliens are better balanced - not perfectly, but better. There are far fewer dud games, though the same few aliens still usually rise to the top.

The disappointment was in the missing 10% of fun they took away from the previous games (1 and 2. 3 must not be spoken of).

- The scaling behavior of the Antarans encourages strategic weakness, which is boring.
- System roundabout traffic slows everything down, which is boring.
- Only 1 doom star? Oh ... God ... no! I want my end game doom star swarms back! Boring.

An extremely conservative re-imagine of a classic, for good and ill. MoO 3 killed the series for 13 years, and it shows here just how spooked the new devs were in repeating that history.

Still, if you've never played MoO 2, you'll probably love this one. There's far worse things to be, than a new coat of paint and a re-issue on an all-time classic of the genera. Just don't expect much innovation beyond the eye-candy if you're a returning player.

Recommended for X4 lovers, with the caveat of waiting for a sale. 30€ is just WAY~ too much, but 4,49€ as I paid to get this game, AND the original trilogy digitally? That was worth it to me, at least, even if I'm unsure if I'll ever finish a full campaign in this game in particular. It was simply neat to see that modern re-take on all those classic races and such.

Good graphics and sound. I wanted to love it and in 2 minds as to whether to action a refund but am about to do so. Reason being is that I am unsure I will play it in the future.

But I strongly prefer to play the original MOO from 1993. It had a simple interface and was fun. Games were short enough to fit into an evening. In the original you could run away before battle was enjoined and seemed to have a lot more control of your fleet. The races were very flavourful and this modern game does give a taste of that. But overall....I wish they had simply reskinned the old game.

I also noticed that there are known bugs in the game so you will need to download and install community patches and mods to get this game to work as it should have. A shame they are not integrated into the basic game in some way as this may have coloured my experience as well.

I was nervous about this one after the disaster that was MOO 3. But instead they returned to the roots, and put together a fun little game. It's classic 4X with all the features you expect, but it keeps the resource management light and easy. I like it for short little playthoughs, maybe a few hours over the course of a weekend.

I bought the game long ago because I loved MOO 1 and especially 2 back in the day, so as far as gameplay goes I had expected something evolved from MOO2 but what I found was actually less than that. There are only tiny improvements like for the spies, Changes to science that force you to decided which technology from a research you want, which leads to wewitd situations like you got deep core mining but not deep core waste deposition - so your planets worsen because of polution and get terraformed over and over again. Setting of the galaxy - boring. Build limits on the biggest ships? Why? Interaction with the Antarans - well, let us just say I am not impressed.

as a fan of the original games, I would say this is very good refresh of a tried and tested formula. MOO is a more straightforward 4x compared with its rivals. I lose control of the camera during battles which isnt so great, but the fact they play out in real time is a big improvement over MOO2, where endgame battles would take hours. The game is missing some flash here or there but overall pretty fun.

I'm not sure why this game seemed to have a poor reputation when it came out. It's a modern update of the first game, that carefully adds only the best additions of the second. Although there are important decisions to make, colony building is simplified and streamlined, as is diplomacy. The ebb and flow of galactic power happens on the map - exactly where it should.

If you sleeping on this game, you missing out. The founders of 4X games but in a simplistic understandable manner and appealing to look at? I'll take it, this game is super fun especially with friends, but the games are about 5 hours MINIMUM unless your a god or impatient, I find it hard to get enough time to do a full play though with my friends with work and life, they most of the time take 3-5 days to complete one campaign, and there aren't alot of mods but the overhaul mod(?) adds so much to the game to make them last even longer, I feel like it should of been part of the main game.

It's baby's first space 4x game, a good starting place for the genre. Good production value (Mark Hamill voices one of the aliens). If you come from Stellaris, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc. This game won't wow you! it's quite easy, not a lot of complexity. Like I said this game is the first step to the 4x genre, you won't regret it if you're new to this type of game. Otherwise, skip it or buy it when it's like 80%

It's an utter disappointment. It's got the burdensome planet micromanagement from the second game. And the disappointing real time combat and the star lanes from the third. I suspect the user hostile menu design is homage to the first game but it may just be a ripoff of galciv. Either way, this is a model for bad 4X games.

It's worth noting the artwork and space opera were nicely done. Unfortunately, I won't be looking at, or listening to, it anymore.

This game came out in 2016.

There was a lot of negative feedback form the Steam Hate Police, so I didn't get it, even though I was a huge fan of the franchise, particularly MOO2 .

It took until 2021 for me to bite the bullet.

You know what? The haters were dead wrong.

MOO-CTS is a more-than-competent update of what made MOO2 great. This does NOT mean that it is a 'Stellaris' update. If your taste runs to endless spreadsheets, text adventures and micro, then Stellaris is the game for you.

OTherwise, you'd probably find MOO-CTS pretty good.

I wish I could say I liked it better than Master of Orion II, but I just can't. It's good and is obviously prettier and has some very nice options and allows you to drill down or not in some areas so it's less overwhelming to the beginning player. But it's also easy not to go into the more complex features later.

I played the original back in the day and was glad to see the franchise continued beyond that. I think they could have done a bit more with the series, but ultimately, this is satisfying in a similar way. I can sit and play for 600+ turns without moving, even if the feel of the game has changed a lot.

I see a lot of bad reviews for Master of Orion, and I observe that they've completely missed the point of this iteration of Master of Orion. This game is supposed to be played on a lighter level.

Comparing rounds in this game to deep 4x games like MoO2 and Stellaris is like comparing a round of Starcraft 2 to Civilization 6. This is a better choice when you can only sit down once a week, or you're trying to get a 4x novice into the genre. There's only really this and Endless Space in that pocket.

They designed the rounds to average eight to twelve hours, rather than twenty to thirty. They designed it to be shallow rather than deep, so you can dive into the action rather than grind an entire session on building out a fleet or managing your empire's economic future (that you'll have to adjust solar system by solar system after 20 minutes because of research).

The game was actually very well fleshed out. Diplomacy and espionage are well done, to the point where it is entirely possible to win a game without firing a shot, or you can have minimal interactions with them and just attempt to wreck their day. Research actually manages to matter, but not be impossible to win without, battles can be as simple or complex as you want by controlling the fight. You can micromanage your economy for maximum profit or work it in broad strokes.

But... with all those options, unlike other 4x games, you can ignore or involve yourself as you choose, and not be punished for it. Mostly. Battles, unless you play a total war game well, I recommend leaving alone. Point is, you don't have to remember what your last twenty-five and next twenty-five moves were when you start up your save.

So get in there and have some fun actually getting through a game without playing it like it's a second job.

MOO came first and it is honored for that. It paved the way for the genre. However, Stellaris is a much better game.

I wanted to like this game as MOO2 was so good. The problem is that MOO2 is much better. I would have preferred the game if they had just taken MOO2 as-is and updated the graphics. With mods, the gameplay here is pretty good. Problem is that the GUI is really tiresome. No mini-map and you need to get an individual planet view to control planet output and resource usage properly. So there is lots and I means lots of scrolling and zooming in this game. It started to drive me crazy after a while. There is a colonies list but you can't control the colony fully from that list. Also food can't be shipped around the empire with freighters as with the original so you have to micro that aspect too much. Also the tactical battles are pretty lame - you end up auto-resolving or just selecting all the ships and targeting each enemy individually. Nothing much to do there. This could have been a great game but some of the design decisions just made it worse than the original (which is still great to play BTW). Thumbs down on this one.

In my opinion, this reboot is pretty faithful - it seems like the team put a lot of love into it. It's not perfect and I have had some issues on Linux (Gentoo and Mint), but have been able to work around them all.

Really fun with or without friends. Although I do wish there was a custom battle menu where you could just load up a battle that you wanted and practice the combat. Also wish there was a way to directly control ships in multiplayer games instead of just auto resolve.

I've played every MoO that's been made, bc I'm older than Antares (literally in this case, since Antarans weren't introduced until MoO 2), and this is the best one ever. I miss the turn-based tactical combat of the first two games, but they made good changes to the abysmal systems in MoO 3 so I guess I'll allow a more action-oriented approach to combat. For the kids, ya know. The voice cast is absolutely top notch and does a fabulous job bringing the narration and various species to life. Many of the character designs of the OG species really hearken back to the first game's designs, and it's great to see that they drew inspiration from the best the series had to offer. Anyways, yeah it's been out for a few years, and yeah, you should still be playing it because it's fantastic. 9.6/10.

I've played 1 and 2 before. It's still fun, the latest release has brought in current day visuals and audio . But be warned, expect a fair bit of micro management. Leaving it to auto-build may not be as effective as you would anticipate but the builder queues are most welcome to manage and prioritize which structures to build.

Better than most of the other Master of Orion games. Moo2 was the best prior to this. This solves many micro-management problems, and has smoother faster UI flows through various parts of the game. Overall its a faster, smoother, more consistent game. Difficulty levels seem very very difficult after Average setting. Multiplayer works as expected. Really wish i could buy the extra human DLC race. Overall, if you like MOO series, get this one. It's one of the best.

MOO: CTS is an excellent game if you can accept it for what it does. It is a fun, well done, 4X with a modicum of complexity and depth. You can get in, straight away, and start exploring, building, researching and conquering the stars. It is fun and enjoyable.

It is not a complex, deep galactic empire builder. It is not a deep, complex space ship combat sim. It does not have a deep, complex diplomatic system.

I have a lot of respect for games like Stellaris. That game IS deep and complex, but I think that complexity and depth comes at a price: fun. I find MOO to be much more fun than Stellaris, and you may as well,

I can't recommend this without extensive modding.

So, the raids are not random and are done based on a hard multiplier of the player's fleet strength. However, how the game assesses fleet strength seems to be bugged. So, certain custom ship designs can result in the game spawning raids over 2x as strong as what you actually have.

Other things:
- The pollution mechanic varies wildly and results in wasting hours with pointless micromanagement. The buildings to manage it don't do much. Balanced, well outfitted planets still become polluted.
- Many of the buildings have been changed to the point of being useless cash sinks so you have to micromanage buildings across dozens of planets individually, wasting more time.
- You Citizens are more unhappy an will frequently kill themselves by striking out of the blue. Meaning, yes, more micromanagement. And, the mood boost buildings cost more to maintain, naturally, and do less.
- Volcanic worlds are the new toxic worlds.
- Constructed planets are high gravity.
- The leaders appear to be randomly generated and are mediocre mish-mashes of 1 to 3 skills, occasionally with some empire wide skills that are OP when leveled. So, no more epic leaders, including Loknar and Zanatus.

Oh, yeah, and space lanes. Every friggin turn based space game has space rails for space trains to travel on nowadays.

I highly recommend Master of Orion. Ups of this game: great graphics, lots of factions to choose from and you can change the difficulty of the game as well as play with friends. Downs of this game: if you have a slow computer you are going to have to down the graphics which makes the game a lot less fun; also when playing with friends you will have to be fast otherwise it will take forever and will be kind of boring.

This game is such a beautiful passion project to a game series I wish I was around to experience at the start. To anyone that is looking for a good space empire game, this is it. You never feel that alone when you have the advisor for each of the races being well voiced and generally keeping a friendly attitude towards you. Each race ship is a beautiful representation of each race and the leaders are also voiced so freaking well.

A loving passion project to a game series that made the Sci-Fi empire genre, hope more of you find this game like I did and enjoy it as well.

Pros:

>Generous and accommodating difficulty curve for a strategy game, can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels
>Top-tier voice acting from genre veterans such as Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn, and John de Lancie
> Emma and Viktoriya (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)
>A bunch of Empires to play as, including:

-The monkeys who ruined their home planet but also love everyone now
-The monkeys who were kicked off their home planet for being too edgy (and now have to wear masks all the time)
-Aggressively paternalistic, Russian-sounding bear people
-The Formics from Ender's Game
-The Geth from Mass Effect
-Lizard family
-The Asari from Mass Effect
-Chill bird people
-Brain Bois
-A bunch of sentient rocks who are really easy to piss off for some reason
-Shapeshifting purple bois who will make you start a war every 5 turns if you have them as allies
-Rule 34 cat people who want to check your vibe
-Creepy Deepy Bois
-The pig people with a bunch of eyes who really like money
-And all of the above, but with custom traits

Cons:

>Gameplay is pretty slow
>Enemy spies will frick you up if you don't have ten of your own spies to catch them first
>Battle UI can be a little weird
>I'm not sure if you can skip the intro cutscene

Final Verdict:

Very chill strategy/empire simulation game based on a timeless classic. Would recommend to anyone with an attention span of more than 5 seconds.

I played MOO 2 a lot in the past few years and i'm sure this would have been fun. But the text in the user interface is so small that my 46 year old eyes have trouble seeing it. And since there is no way to increase the size or expect a fix (this problem has been reported for years without any fix) , i can't recommend this to anyone who is in my age group (45+).

An unworthy succession to a great older 4X franchise, with some nice animated graphics.

The 'ascension' or victory by research feature addition means the AI always wins on a clock cycle and the game ends with the winner being the first race to reach the end of the tech tree. Usually this occurs right in the middle of the most sophisticated endgame conquest and diplomacy portions of the game. It ruins the entire concept here. The Galactic council never votes, politics is near meaningless, conquest victory is impossible, the game ends before a deathstar can be constructed or used... Just a big banner every match:

500 turns: AI WINS

Or you do, if you win the tech race.

The entire game reduces to this one algorithm. Fun maybe twice, zero replay.

Sadly the tactical combat is also completely bugged, the camera auto centers snapping back from the focus you scroll to, ships do not obey orders, ships do not fire on targets ordered to, ships forget the targets assigned, and at scale, the battles crash and lock. Individual ships can't even be selected and commands just cannot be issued. It becomes impossible to fight protracted battles, use any kind of tactics or special ship equipment, and all the space battles are reduced to production pawn trades.

This relegates the player to use of auto admiral and auto resolve simulation for the best parts of the hi tech fleet battles, completely trimming off what is teased as one of the best parts of this game.

Fails at the concept, trite and disappointing.

For the most part, the game runs pretty good.

However, when I go into a Huge map and I own close to 120 planets, that is were the game gets buggy. Everytime, I hit turn, it takes over 5 minutes for the calculation to finish. I have an i9 9900k and wow, after too many turns, it crashed my computer. I even have 128 gb on my computer to run other things in the background. However, it crashed.

Now anything less then what 60 planets, its not a problem. If you can please fix.

The game itself is great, however it freezes up constantly in combat and sometimes in between turns. There is no way to unfreeze it so the game ends for me. Once i waited almost 2 hours to unfreeze it but with no effect. I tryed to reinstall it, ran it without mods and with just a few mods, and it was the same every time. The game just frozes between truns around the 250th turn. If you get to fight larger battles later in the game or with the Antarans, it freezes during combat and then your only option is to let the AI decide the battle.... and it is mostly a loss.

Fun Masters of Orion game, a nice step up from MOO 3. MOO3 was a little to much in depth without being that in depth as the A.I. could take care of a lot of the planning for planets. This game you are pretty much making all the decisions for each planet, that being said i wish it was a little more in depth (haha).
The ship battles are a little tricky to control to be good at it, but they look amazing and have good A.I. control.

Loved the old MOO series? Then this is for you. Love this, yes interface and interactions are not as complex anymore but this makes space for new blood and new mechanics. My friends and I play this regularly with anything from 3 to 6 human players vs hard bots. Busy experimenting with new mods now, but I've got to say if you join Teamspeak or Discord and have a chat with friends while playing this game is really nice. Not alot of bugs, and I hope to see more community content and content from the Developers as well. I bought all DLCS for all the races and I'm not disapointed. I really hope the developers takes this game even further.

The aesthetic is great, the voices are great, GNN remains hilarious, and it is MOO.

MOO was one of my favorite games in college and probably lowered my grades a bit, given how much I played it!

No game has captured my attention quite as much since that one in 1993, until now. For me it's a great reboot with all the feel of the original, but with a new interface.

There are still a few bugs, especially on the Mac where there were a few game stoppers. Luckily could copy the save game to my windoze machine to get past it, then copy back to continue.

Can't stop playing it though.... got half the achievements and am playing games intentionally for achievements, which makes it more challenging. Last game was Burathi, win tech, then doom star to destroy homeworld and 20 planets. Got in a 3 way war with the #1 Klackons and #2 Meklar and barely survived to go on for the win! FUN FUN!

This is a wonferful fresh take on a magical classic. It seems they used the Civ V game engine to build this on, and we see many of the mechanics and interface elements being inherited from civ. What we have then is basically a remake of MOO2 on top of Civ, and that's a fun mix.

The game unfortunately feels unfinished, with many bugs and unpolished features in the basr package. Fortunately, two wonderful mods were published that address this and transform the game into what it really should be (5X mod, UCP mod). With these two, the game is a great piece of work, with tremendous depth and replayability.

This is the best game I've played in years, I'm psyched to have discovered it at this stage where mods make it as complete as it deserves to be.

After some time it just reminded me of how much more fun playing MoO2 is. Mostly, because the remake has considerably slowed down the pace bringing the endgame to a crawl. In the time I finished one game of MoO (the remake) I could easily play through three games of MoO2.

I would have given this game a positive review if they had said up front that it was made for kids, but they didn't; and it clearly is.

This game is the most bare-bones version of a 4X you could possibly ask for. Everything is so simple, and the aesthetic is so brightly colored and cheesy, it was obviously made to appeal to gamers aged fifteen and under. Now, there's nothing wrong with that if you have a kid who's into space games, and you think they'd dig something a little more sophisticated than Fortnite, but it wasn't what I wanted and they should've been clear about what they were selling.

A very well made update of an older classic. Feels quite close to Master of Orion 2 meets Vanilla Civ 5.

Pros:
Nice visuals. Good music. Good atmosphere. Intuitive playstyle. Great voice acting. High replayability. High variety of playable races. Humor.

Cons:
1) Population growth mechanic slows the game down considerably, compared to previous iterations. Silicoid Race severly hampered due to this. This game lacks the Housing build of MoO2 or corressponding techs.
2) Slight imbalance with custon races, as the standard races have higher budgets for traits, which kind of makes custom races a mute point.

It's like the makers never played Master of Orion 1 or 2, they just read about them and tried to make a copy but couldn't figure out the soul of the series.

Just not good enough.

I got this game because of a youtuber by the name of Mal a few years ago. I had my fun but man the game in vanilla just eats at you after the first time you manage to complete a run, bout 7-10 hours on a medium galaxy with the default turn limit for score victory and without the Antaran raiders attacking you. The Antarans generally attack the race who is leading in one of the win conditions, empire management (score). They attack the race's world with the highest defense rating (if your fleet is there that's where they go). If you plan to aim for a conquest victory they will make the game quite hellish until around turn 250 up which is past the 5 hour mark where your ships assume enough mass, armor, and weaponry to do something. Often you'd need orbital defenses to be the meat shields they are in vanilla else your fleet would still be overwhelmed as the Antarans do indeed scale by turn rather than the leading race's military or score. They can and will swamp your ass with over 70 ships many of which may be destroyers and above. Without mods to make orbital defenses worth a damn, they will kick your ass allllll the way to end game when you finally get battleships upwards or manage to cheese the Orion world's guardian (essentially a battleship) for advanced weapons and armor and an uber planet.

More on ships, there is absolutely nothing in the vanilla game that can compete with just spamming an overwhelming amount of missiles. Just get bigger ships with big payloads of absurd numbers of missiles and there's any naval battle instantly ruined by cheese as the AI hybridizes their weapons and will RARELY build a ship rated above cruiser and just build up a bunch of low weight frigates, destroyers, and cruisers showing that their navy is braindead. This actually counters your spam as missiles do not inherently find new targets if their target has been destroyed meaning they fly and go boom in the void of nothing. However by end game your tonnage is so high that they cant possibly hurt your battleships upwards and your ships that are cruisers will always take 4 or more enemies down before they die due to the enemies' bad AI and game's horrible blueprint auto designer. Also there is a guidance system that completely removes one of the 2 weaknesses of missiles. The enemy will never use ECM so that might as well not even be a damn weakness. I mentioned this before but the only orbital defense worth a damn is the star base and its upgrades, not because it actually serves as a defense platform, but because it wields the health of a battleship and acts as aggro to the retarded enemy ai. Mod the ai and orbital defense to make both actually intimidating.

From my 30 or so vanilla hours i haven not observed any distinction between racial ai. They all act the same and is displayed in the worst possible light when the silicoid, a race who does not eat, asks for food related research. No empire takes advantages of its traits nor acts in character, i.e. humans being diplomatic traders. Often no one does trade deals, research exchange until you go to them and they often request retarded demands like colony cessions for something like a trade deal a simple non aggression pact. A MUST MOD for any real enjoyment.

Management is fine for the most part. Taxing is the issue here as you lose out on a lot of money because taxes are empire wide rather than planet specific. This means some breeding world will mint a pretty penny while a production world will always get ungrateful striking cunts because production builds pollution (elaborated in a bit). Pollution in vanilla spirals UNBELIEVABLY out of control. If you find a godsend of a system with a ultra rich planet with sister planets that are abundant or even poor and manage to make it an industrial powerhouse of a system, you will ALWAYS reach near max pollution.

If you do reach max pollution, you degrade the planet's biome, and the side effects of pollution is increased need of food and decreased happiness of civilians (them getting miffed about your already low 3 currency per pop rate), which leads to striking, reassigning people to food, and having to stop building that flagship you wanted to clean up the pollution, You will do this twice or more for any ship above cruiser on the tech tree and also for terraforming a damned planet. This snowballs ridiculously and you waste enormous amounts of money per planet for pollution processing buildings that dont even solve the problem; it only applies a miniaturized stop gap bandaid. My advice there is to just get a mod that reduces the gain or just get the core waste dump mod which makes that building (it is an end game building so no worries about busting scaling there) just negate all pollution altogether. I dont even remember which mod does this but it makes it so terraforming a planet counts toward pollution cleanup instead of pollution creation. Modding alleviates most of the grievances aside of how long a game takes to play out which is something i'd rather never experience again thanks to Bethesda. This game takes quite a bit of modding to make the game replayable after the 1st playthrough.

I'm just gonna stop here as there is just too much more to say and i've been here for a half hour typing this already and tell you unless you're willing to visit the steam workshop for mods to make any run past the first enjoyable, Don't buy this. Also the multiplayer is very much dead, and it'll be a crazy day in hell before a friend on your friend's list decides to play this with you due to it being a less popular 4x game. Despite me enjoying the game a considerable amount, Bethesda has taught that you should most certainly should not require a modding community to make a game worth playing and this game certainly would not be worth touching if it didnt have mods.

Buy on sale if you must.

It's not a bad game. I wish that it had incorporated more from Master of Orion 2. There was a broader feel to that game and not relying on star lanes so much. Perhaps star lanes could have been used as a faster natural way to specific locations and jump gates could remain the technological version. I also wouldn't have mind seeing land battles in the game developed as much as the space battles. The one down side of the game is its overall performance compared to other 4X strategy games. It seems to be more of a system resource hog.

Surprisingly good and much better than I expected all thanks to the awesome modding community who did an excellent job at finishing the development of this game. Highly recommended mods: 5X - The Ultimate Balance mod, UCP (Unofficial Code Patch), Diverse Specials and Massive Planets, and their associated compatibility mods and assets.
