Kurz gesagt: Wer sich unsicher ist, ob Dwarfs!? das Richtige für ihn ist, der kann erstmal die F2P Variante ausprobieren, oder die Demo herunterladen.

Neben einer Kampagne mit einem halben Duzend Herausforderungen bietet Dwarfs!? noch einige Minispiele und Abwandlungen des Arcade-Modus, die einen gerne ein paar Stunden bei Laune halten. An einigen von ihnen werden auch Profis eine Weile zu knabbern haben. Wer jedoch erwartet, hier wie bei Dungeon Keeper 20-30 Stunden beschäftigt zu sein, der Irrt. Denn das an sich sehr spaßige und simple Spielprinzip, dass man sowohl Kindern wie auch Älteren empfehlen kann, verliert mit der Zeit doch sehr an Reiz.
Dennoch geht man wahrscheinlich mit einem guten Gefühl aus dem Spiel heraus: Es war nicht teuer, man hatte seinen Spaß und ohne große Mühe hat man die Archievements auch noch eingesackt. Deshalb kann die Hasenmafia das Spiel bedenkenlos als Snack für zwischendurch empfehlen!

This is a really good game with a fun gameplay. A lot of the modes are fun and provide new challenges
A lot of fun in fact. Since the challenge is being able to preempt lava and water coming at you from all sides, because your stupid dwarves are going to be doing their best to mine that stuff out so they can kill themselves.Great game. Plus voiced by Simon from Yogscast.

hm also mit dem Spiel kann ich gar nichts anfangen. Einfach nur extrem langweilig.
Grafik super und Steuerung auch. Nur das Gameplay kann bei mir einfach nicht funken.

Ein sehr lustiges Spiel für zwischendurch, woei es nach einigen Stunden auch etwas eintönig wird. Das liegt daran, dass es nach einer gewissen Zeit recht wenig zu bieten, was neue Spielelemente angeht. Aber ansonsten hat Dwarfs eine sehr schöne Optik, mit einem guten Gameplay. Ich denke für die paar Euro kann man nichts falsch machen.

If you buy the game on sale I'd recommend but for $10, heck no.

One of the biggest things wrong with the game is the game play loop is tedious and not satisfying. Wait around until a dwarf strikes lava or water than hold down CTRL and Click on the tiles surrounding it. Thats the loop of the game. Eventually you'll get impatient and hold the S button to speed up the game but the problem with that is when you do that the lava or water will get released and instantly gets too big. So you are forced to sit and wait on a slow speed for your dwarves to mine.

Dwarfs always dig too greedily and too deeply

It is a nice little game in which feeling of this phrase is represented quite well. Your dwarfs are always digging, always trying to find treasure. They are always reckless and dangers are plenty. Game is about crisis management and your ever expanding hub makes it feel like you are trying to save dwarfs from themselves.

Gameplay

Game is quite simplistic and quick to understand. You have your pause and speed up options. Game is about being able to quickly find danger areas and to respond them in time. Pause is essential in this. However, speed up button does not accelerate in game time meaning that if you want to achieve high score, you have to use it all the time. Game is balanced around paying attention and speeding game through. The more you speed it through, the bigger your score is. This results in a reckless gameplay, taking risks and not completely taking care of problems. In order to achieve high scores, it is mostly about luck. This is the only lasting value this game has, otherwise base gameplay is quite shallow even if it is fun.

How tough does dwarves have it?

Difficulty primarily comes from not being able to respond to crisis in time and it becomes too big to manage. More difficult game modes merely restrict the amount of resources you have to manage crisis. It prevents you simply walling off problematic areas due to sheer costs of it. Difficulty comes primarily from watching dwarfs and not allowing them to kill themselves. It is an exercise in attention and other part is just luck. It is a good formula for casual gameplay, but trying to play higher difficulties at longer period at times leads to frustration and tediousness.

What tools does a dwarf has?

Besides its trusty pickaxe, sharp sword, this game is quite minimalistic and it doesn't have many options. You can respond quickly with a pause and an instant wall. You can blow up a hole and wall of dangerous areas. You can build outposts which become increasingly expensive. However, this game does lack options. For one, your soldiers will be completely useless in your base. You have clumsy and expensive arrow keys to navigate them together with workers. There are no tools to protect your dungeon actively like asking your guards to patrol your dungeon, setting routes, etc.

Game seriously lacks more turrets, more defensive dig outs, more dangerous enemies.

Furthermore, there are plenty of dead icons in this game which does not do anything. Entire sub-menu is useless in arcade mode.

Conclusion

It is a fun little game. Everything in it just works, but don't expect it too much like some people. Game lacks variety, it tedious to play when trying to achieve high scores or on a long map. It is shines the best at 15 or 30 minutes quick breaks.

Dig Dig Dig. Let me warn you but don't fall for this marketing catchy phrase for this game. I am not here to over criticize the game , But it just doesn't allude to me. The dwarfs dig the blocks of square to excavate gold coins and minerals worth some value but nah, turns out that even if you enjoy the game for some moment, it quickly gets boring, not to mention the game is pretty slow including but not limited to only map in arcade mode and slow pace of digging dwarfs (even when there is a speed up feature). Achievements have a glitch, it shows that it pops up at some instant but you will get it at totally different instant. Others may find it interesting, but it is not at all of my appeal.

Dwarfs?! is a little game about managing an increasing amount of mining dwarves. You have direct control over every dwarf, but while not commanded they move and mine on their own in random directions. This can lead to dwarves mining into water reservoirs, pools of lava and uncovering monsters, which will require manual control to… get the situation under control.

The idea of the game is to distill the RTS genre into its component parts. The game starts slow, as you only start with one miner dwarf and one warrior dwarf, but as the game goes on it gets more chaotic, until you are managing 4 monster battles at once while plugging up lava leaking into open areas. That’s the idea anyways.

However, the game doesn’t manage to accomplish the snappy feeling of playing an RTS. Managing water and lava reservoirs, and preventing them from leaking out isn’t “fun” because the best outcome is nothing happening, especially in higher difficulties where it is impossible to afford sealing up reservoirs. Battles between warriors and monsters similarly lack that snappy feeling, but for fights it’s due to a lack of mechanical depth. The only mechanic available to “micro” your warriors is to step them back and rotate them when they get low on HP, but the situations where this is relevant (bosses) are also the least fun to do so because boss attacks are highly telegraphed and bosses incapable of moving.

It’s not all bad though. Some of the most fun I had in Dwarfs?! was figuring out the most cost effective way to seal off water/lava reservoirs (even if you can’t do so for most of them at higher difficulties). But once you find the best way to seal off caves, the game really has nothing else to offer.

All in all, Dwarfs?! requires constant attentiveness, but the gameplay loop isn’t rewarding or “fun” enough to justify the amount of focus required.

P. S. The voice acting is nice.

I wasn't expecting this to be as fun as it is tbh lol it's definitely worth buying even out of a bundle, I can see this being fun for hours

update: just realized there's no endless mode. im disappointed, still fun though

A cute little title, very relaxing yet stressful at the same time. Multiple gamemodes to keep you busy even if you get tired of the main mode. Gets a little laggy on large map modes. It is a little bit of a one-trick pony of a game, but it's certainly worth the price, as you'll come back to it from time to time after a long spree of playing it.

Good game until EVERYTHING SUDDENLY GOES TO SHIT. And then you're on damage control, and then you just watch your little guys struggle it out until their inevitable end. 10/10 would murder dwarves again.

Dwarfs!? has a strangely addictive game play loop. You order dwarves around to dig blocks on a 2D area that can be randomly generated via the arcade mode, there's cave that hold one of the following: water, lava, treasure or minions - or nothing. The premise is simple but the loop is enjoyable, and it kills time.

You cannot control the diggers, which was a major letdown in my book. It's shepherding a bunch of randomly moving dwarves underground, so a no-no for me. If you want a dwarf-sims-build game, get Craft the World.

Painfully addictive and frustratingly chaotic, that is what springs to mind with this game.

The game is not an overly complex thing, the miners mine through the stone, and the warriors protect them.
They do need to be directed more often than not, as this is where the pain and chaos comes in.

You are a Dwarven overseer, and you control your 'clan', the miners move at random and when you have a hundred plus of them in all directions and across a large map... Get the picture.

This is a very cute Overseer/Turret Defence game, and the several game modes helps keep its spark, that is until you tear yourself away before you break something or headbutt the table too many times.

Recommended : Yes - It is a different set of skills to play this game.
Replayability : Most definitely!
Drawbacks : Nothing Detrimental

This game is... nice? I guess... Frankly though, it annoys the everloving cack out of me!The gameplay boils down to 'Spend money on square-by-square directional control or sit back and wait for the aimless drones to stumble into something fatal'. I had hopes of something very different.Having little to no control over the Dwarfs is annoying, moreso when they will wander off in an aimless line, find something that kills them (because you were looking somewhere else when they stumbled into it) and now you need to micro-manage ANOTHER Dwarf down the same drunk-dug-tunnel to sacrifice his daft self.The aimless gameplay pretty much means that you've seen 90% of what you can expect by the time you have completed the tutorial and unless there's some whole other game hidden here, I can't say I'm going to be a fan.As much as I want to give congratulations to the devs for using a member of Yogscast (Diggy Diggy hole!) for the voice acting, the quality is quite poor and peaks out a great deal while he's talking. If I had any other kind of control over the dwarfs (like aiming them!) I would be far more invested in the game. As it stands, I feel like a supervisor in a day-care. Sit back and wait for someone to hurt themselves and deal with it accordingly.

(Note: Dwarfs!? F2P and the full retail version of Dwarfs!? are separate titles that share stats and achievements but not all achievements will transfer from the retail version to the F2P version and the Not-A-War-Hammer can only be unlocked in F2P then subsequently transferred here).

A simple yet polished and addictive action game that's like whack-a-mole had a baby with a RTS. There's a slight learning curve but the game gets more enjoyable and rewarding the more you play. Basically, you have an ever-spawning army of derpy digger dwarfs who randomly tunnel their way to fortune and/or doom while you try to keep them from unleashing hell upon your colony. You do this by blocking/sealing away lava/water they unleash, steering them from catastrophe, and launching your army through outpost cannons to deal with threats they may unleash when they bumble into a cave. It gets pretty hectic at higher difficulties, with increasing costs forcing you to basically Epstein any dwarf that looks like it's getting to close to a threat in order to safely manage your ever-expanding territory. There's also a short campaign mode which, in addition to the tutorial, features some limited but fairly charming writing & voice acting with a dash of comedy and several mini-games, including tower defense and axe throwing. The soundtrack is limited, but fitting and enjoyable.

Despite all it has going for it, it's not perfect. The achievements, though not hard to get, are a bit buggy in that Not-A-War-Hammer can't be unlocked here and has to be transferred from the F2P version. If in doubt, 100% the game in the retail version then, optionally, transfer your achievements here.

Gimli that fucking AXE. Extremely easy fix - If you can buy the axe in shop or combine it with Take My Axe unlock.

This isn't casual, there's too much micromanagement, and time-sensitive/gold sensitive events where you don't have enough time to react even when you use slow-time on higher difficulties. You can use water to contain lava, but honestly, who's going to be lucky enough to open them at the same time and only have 1 tunnel leading to each other? Even then what miner will be the lucky one to open it back up again before you have time to seal an entire tunnel system. I don't know what happened, but a water cave just appeared next to my base, I had like 10-30seconds to seal a directional expansion of water about 20-50[not that far] squares away from my base from cleared land.

Dwarves(the miners) are idiots who keep betraying you by refusing to follow your order, that said, disappearing arrows[how you control them]!? Really!? Keep in mind there can be extremely costly[5k+ to seal] Lava/Water caves in the beginning and there's multiple caves like this throughout the map, so it's actually just LUCK-based spawns. They can also be extremely lazy just wandering around your base when there's squares to clear next to them that will expand your city.

Dwarfs!? Yes you heard correctly. Anyways, the game is a strategic tower defense game where you direct and control dwarves to collect minerals and explore caves.

Gameplay:
The main goal of the game is to defend your outpost, which is the center of the diggers, and explore as much as possible. Diggers will slowly come out and start digging in random areas. You can let them go loose, or direct them on where to dig. Each time they dig, you earn gold. Gold can be used to make more outposts, hire more warriors, or convert an outpost to have more digger dwarves come out. Warriors and Diggers can be directed to go a certain direction. However, the arrows will stay, which can direct wandering Diggers and Warriors to the same path.

Each map has three main things to pay attention to: minerals, caves, and of course your outpost. Minerals are what rake the money in. Caves could contain treasure, but can also be full of danger, which is lava, water, minions, and even boss battles. It is important to defend your outpost from these obstacles, otherwise, it's game over.

There are a couple of gamemodes: skirmish, base defense, campaign, and the basic arcade mode. There's a bit of variety in this game, but with a common goal.

Controls:
Controls are a slight hit-and-miss. The reason being is sometimes the clicks do not register when trying to set up dynamite and outposts. Another problem is that sometimes dwarves will ignore your commands on where to go. Just be sure to pay attention and make sure things are going through.

Music:
If you're used to medieval tones, then this is the type of music it has. It's a bit upbeat and relaxing...well...contrast to the higher difficulties you end up playing.

Graphics:
The graphics compare to a typical flash game that caters to a cartoony look. The game is overhead, but the art is still detailed with medieval tones.

Story:
Not much of a story, lad. But I think yer gonna enjoy the witty dwarf who guides ye through the nooks n crannies. What every dwarf loves is killin monsters, ale, and of course gold...the thing that ties the whole thing togetha. Keep everythin in order, kid, and ye'll have the thickest beard known to every dwarf!

Overall:
Dwarfs!? is a casual or challenging(depends on how you want it to look or play) tower defense game that could mean hours of fun to earn your medals and get the highest possible score. While the controls are a bit off, the gameplay is still fun and simple. Collect money and explore with many different gamemodes. With a classic medieval tone and dwarves that stay true to their heritage, this game can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Pros:
-Relaxing Music
-Simple game, but with many possible obstacles.
-Variety of difficulties.
-Variety of gamemodes.

Cons:
-Controls are a bit stiff sometimes.
