One of my favorite Nancy games so far - lots of puzzles, not a lot of boring work (like walking or driving, entering phone numbers, etc).

This game has a fun atmosphere and plot, the puzzles aren't too hard, and it has interesting mini games. It's my favorite Nancy Drew game and a great one to start off on.

fun! puzzles weren't overtly hard, in a good way. Interesting scenery but sometimes confusing to get around in certain areas, which is probably on purpose though

My first ever foray into the world of Nancy Drew! I was hooked from the start and immediately loved the spooky setting and the story. My only gripes: navigating the forest and the German stereotypes/attempts at German dialects, those gave me some real cringe moments and were quite unnecessary in my opinion. Also they made some mistakes when translating words, which just felt like a lazy mistake they could have easily been fixed.
But that's just me nitpicking, this game instantly made me fall in love with this series, the puzzles are challenging but manageable and you end up feeling pretty good about yourself when you do figure everything out! Overall super great fun and definitely recommended.

A bit easier than some of the other Nancy Drew games in my opinion, but that's not always a bad thing. Fun, relaxing game

As someone who grew up with Nancy Drew, and is now re-playing the games as an adult...I have mixed feelings about The Captive Curse. This is the first game I decided to re-play in the series, because it is one of the least memorable. I was hoping I might appreciate it more since it was basically like playing a new game. Much to my disappointment, it is the same dull, slightly annoying game I played 8 years ago. While there are some thrilling aspects, and I enjoy the setting of an old German castle, the rest of the story is lackluster. The puzzles are boring, and the monster/ending sequence was not done to its full potential. Definitely meant for the younger generation of fans and not the older ones. Not my favorite.

+ One of the most terrifying setting in franchise. I could expected this from any indie-horror, but not from nice old Nancy Drew.
+ Awesome beautiful locations of medieval Bavarian castle. Well, there are too overdone, but all of them looks amazing. It was a pleasure to wander around.
+ Well-written and memorable characters. All of them evokes sympathy, and this is rare case, when I was really disappointed that the monster was
crazy-charismatic Anya.
+ Diverting board games, but it seemed to me that it might be more coins for one Raid round ;)

- Too easy puzzles, as for me (this is not Malloy castle, one month for the first tiles slider walkthrough)
- Few tasks with Deutsch translates. Seems to me, previous non-American games had more of them. As always, I expected them for some relative language practice.

I love this game. I have played most of the games in the Nancy Drew series, and this is one of my favorites. It has pretty much everything I could ask for in a ND game. The mystery was interesting, well-developed, and spooky in a fun, campy sort of way. The puzzles fit in seamlessly with the storyline and none of them were too frusterating that I felt like I needed to turn to a walkthrough. The setting was gorgeous - especially the castle which was 100% eye candy - although I wish there had been a little bit more to explore. My favorite part of the game was the characters. Each one had a unique personality and their respective storylines really developed over the course of the game.

This game was on the easier side as far as Nancy Drew games go. Also, it is much less puzzle driven than other games. You progress the storyline mostly by talking to suspects, which didn't bother me because I loved talking to the suspects. However, some people don't like to spend much time talking and would rather do puzzles, in which case this game might not be for them.

I would definitely recommend this game. It was a breeze to play and I had a blast the entire time.

♥ Spooky spooky.

The first time I played Captive Curse, I was absolutely terrified.

Though the game firmly keeps with being family friendly, it does an excellent job of conveying the castle and its array of characters fear. From the dark atomsphere to the animal skull in the dungeon to the monster lurking outside the castle walls, replaying it gave me the shivers!

If you'd like to play a spookier Nancy Drew game, this one makes for a great choice.

♥ Love the mini games.

Usually I tend to skip the mini games unless they're directly related to clearing a task or two. Playing Raid? Killing cows in search of the hidden monster? Loved them! The two mini games added a great amount of replay value to the game. Admittedly I wouldn't mind if they made more of the mini games as fun as those two!

♥ Her Interactive stays true.

No matter how updated the graphics become or how much the budget expands, I always admire how Her Interactive keeps the Nancy Drew games with the spirit of the books. Only once have I ever felt that the game was without heart, without spirit, thankfully not with this title.

The Captive Curse is for sure fitting with Nancy Drew!

✘ Danger music while ... shopping?

I rarely play games with the audio enabled however Nancy Drew is an exception. The one trait of all Nancy Drew games I wish Her Interactive would change is music playing in the most unfitting scenes. Music can do a wonderful job of influencing a player's mood however danger music while in the gift shop? A heightened heart beat while making a phone call to Ned?

It always makes me laugh yet I do wish they would adjust it to play in sync with the proper scenes.

✘ Ned.

Is it only me or are others tired of the drawn out drama between Ned and Nancy? If Her Interactive wants to add a bit of emotional spice in Nancy's life, couldn't they involve Hannah, her father, Bes, George, or even the Hardy boys?

Ned feeling neglected is getting a bit stale. Toss the bread out!

✘ The layout is confusing.

It's a bit of a puzzle in itself to find your way around the castle & woods. Not only was it difficult to remember the way through ever twisting hallways, it turned into a major annoyance, especially since it took my time away from focusing on tasks and the actual story.

Overall Nancy Drew: The Captive Curse is a wonderful addition to the series and would settle in well in your Steam library! ~

This was my first ever Nancy Drew game and now I'm hooked! I thought this game was going to be really corny and the characters looked silly, but i was intrugued by the German castle setting and i love point and click puzzle games which are so hard to find! I wasn't expecting much from the game and i was very pleased. Some of the puzzles i ended up looking up clues for online, but found if i would of just tried a little more i would of gotten them. But overall i found them challenging and fun. I liked many aspects of the game, which i think really sold it to me.

A little spoiler here* When i first entered the game my boyfriend(Nancy's) called me on my cell phone and it really put me in Nancy's shoes! I ended up really growing found of the characters some of the dialoge made me LOL, which is rare for me to laugh :). I loved the setting I really hope I get to see all the characters again especially Lucas! Also many aspects such as using and reusing tools where just really well done. Thank you for creating this wonderful game! I hope I never run out of Nancy Drew games!!

As a long-time player of Nancy Drew games, I can say that this game was interesting and fun to play through. There were a few puzzles that I had to spend some time on and I like that - I don't want it to be too easy! It's always fun to try to earn all the awards at the end of the game. :-)

Loved this game!! Probably played Raid and Monster way too much for my own good, but honestly this game had a lot of stuff to do which was usually entertaining. Sometimes I did have trouble figuring out what to do without outsourcing.

I am a big fan of the Nancy Drew games, I have played almost half of them. The Captive Curse was good, the only problem I had with it was it had a little too many puzzles. I like puzzles, but not if you have to do one every 2 minutes. Also, it was very long and tiring, with a lot of hopelessly wandering around. Overall I would say a 7/10. Good game!

being a nancy drew fan I enjoy and appreciate every single one in the series. some of the games are better than others though, this being one of them. the puzzles were fun, challenging and I never really got frustrated with them like I do in other games in the series. It feels a little bit cliched being like the fourth setting in large castle or mansion like thing (treasure in the royal tower, black moore manor, and castle maloy), but still keeps an origonal tone when outside of the castle. you feel as if the monster could be near you at any moment outside of the castle. Although the German accents were a little cheasy, at most times they were very humerous so it didnt really bother me. the one thing I wish I could change about this game was the story and plot. When compared to many other games to the series, the plot just didn't live up to the great mystery plot twists and creative stories in the other games. I would suggest this game to anyone who enjoys casual games, mysteries or has played previous nancy drew games. I give it a 7/10 but only as a nancy drew fan. coming from the veiw of a more serious gamer or someone who isn't much of a casual game player, 6/10
