Ich kenn es noch von früher und es macht immer noch viel spass. Allerdings ist es nach 7 stunden durchgespielt aber zwischendurch paar runden macht trozdem bock und wenn mal mehr leute online spielen macht das sicher auch noch viel mehr spass.

Swords and Soldiers HD von Ronimo Games.

Ein kleines aber feines Strategiespiel für zwischendurch.

Story & Gameplay

Es gibt 3 (mit DLC 4) verschiedene 10 Missionen starke Kampagnen mit netten und relativ lustigen Geschichten. Auf einen tieferen Sinn sollte man sich allerdings nicht einstellen.

Um genau zu sein stehen einem die Wikinger, Azteken und Chinesen zur Verfügung, wovon jede Nation auch ihre ganz eigenen Einheiten und Zauber mitbringt.

Das Ziel des Spieles ist es, die gegnerische Basis platt zu machen. Dazu werden Einheiten ausgebildet die dann auf die gegnerische Basis zulaufen. Dabei muss natürlich für stetig Gold gesorgt werden, was bei einem maximum von 10 Goldgräbern gar nicht so einfach ist. Deshalb ist es sinnvoll abzuwegen wann man welche Einheit ausbildet, einen Turm baut, neue Truppen oder Zauber erforscht oder einfach mal spart.

Um den eigenen Einheiten das vorankommen zu erleichtern und es dem Gegner zu erschweren greift man mit Zaubern in das Geschehen ein, sofern genug Mana zur Verfügung steht. Diese Zauber reichen von Heilung über Klonzauber bis hin zu einem alles zerquetschendem Felsen.

Alles in allem ist das Spiel sehr simpel und schnell gelernt, macht dafür aber einen heiden Spaß. Schade nur, dass der Multiplayer tot ist. Ohne Steam Forum oder Freunde findet man definitiv niemanden zum gemeinsamen zocken.

Hinzu kommen noch 4 Minispiele die etwas mehr Abwechslung in das Spiel bringen.

Grafik & Sound

Die cartoonige Grafik weiß zu gefallen, insbesondere die Bilder. Zudem unterstreicht die Optik den Humor des Spieles ganz wunderbar. Die Animationen sind gelungen und es gibt dutzende Einheiten mit originellem Design.

Die Vertonung ist angenehm aber sticht nicht wirklich hervor. Gespräche sind zudem nicht vertont, sodass man mitlesen muss.

Fazit

Insgesamt ein nettes Spiel für Zwischendurch, welches ich jedem empfehlen würde der kurzweiligen Spaß sucht. 10€ würde ich dafür zwar nicht ausgeben, aber das Spiel ist oft im Sale und dann auch für 2€ zu bekommen. Da macht man dann nichts mehr verkehrt. Am besten gleich mit DLC holen!

Irgendwo ist es simple, aber doch steckt in Swords and Soldiers HD mehr drin als man bei einem Gelegenheitsspiel denkt. Zwar ist es vom Sinn her das selbe, aber doch unterschiedlich, da es mehrere Rassen gibt. Jede hat seine eigenen Zaubersprüche und Armee. Auch eine kleine Story ist dabei, die niedlich gemacht wurde, auch durch die stimmige Grafik. Nicht in jedem Level muss man das selbe machen, es ist abwechslungsreich gestaltet, mal muss die gegnerische Basis zerstört werden, die eigene Armee muss das Ende der Karte erreichen oder mal muss man Gold sammeln uvm. Teilweise ist der Schwierigkeitsgrad etwas schwer und man muss eine Strategie entwickeln, wie nur bestimmte Armeetypen zu bauen, um das Ziel des Levels zu erreichen. Wer keine Lust auf die Kampagne hat, kann im Mehrspieler mit Freunden oder online nach jemanden suchen und gegeneinander zocken. Aber auch mehrere Herausforderungen sind vorhanden und bringen noch mehr Inhalt.

Das Spiel frisst keinen Hardware-Mouse-Input und das macht das Spiel für mich absolut unspielbar. Die Maus wird enorm unpräzise was bei einem Spiel, in dem viel geklickt richtiger Mist ist.
Touchscreen/Tablet-Eingabe wird dadurch auch unmöglich gemacht (getestet mit Touchscreen und einem WACOM Cintiq).

Allerdings hat der Entwickler das Spiel verschenkt, also kann man sich wohl nicht beschweren, oder...?

Ist ein Sehr nettes 2D Spiel leider gibt es fast keinen mehr der das online spielt.
Der singeplayer wird recht schnell langweilig da die gegner sogar auf schwer recht leicht sind.
Kauft euch das spiel am besten nur wenn ihr ein freund habt der das auch hat!
Dan macht das Sehr viel spass :D

Ein lustiges Spiel, welches aber nach einiger Zeit sehr langwelig wird...

Not a bad little side scrolling strategy game. The art and game mechanics are both fairly simple but the corny humor helps a good bit. Controlling a small army is the best part, having to somewhat carefully pick which units to bring and then watching them dominate. Not a bad score for a cheap game! :-)

An impressive 2D RTS game with colorful visuals and even more colorful characters. You get to play as the Vikings, Aztecs, and the Chinese. Music is good and character audio is funny and bizarre.. but in a good way! Lot's of little touches here and there make the game standout. It offers multiplayer and is very easy to operate making it ideal for children and adults. Each civilization is given certain powers that make it unique and offers strategic abilities in conquering your enemy. You also can cast spells in realtime such as possession or snow flurries but it will drain your mana. All in all a very good game and highly recommended.

Using a cartoonish look helps mask the generally simple gameplay offerings but even with that strength the single lane structure doesn't provide a great amount of depth.

A fun little game that carries a lot of nostalgia for me.
It's not very long and the game mechanics are simple but it's a lot of fun and comes with a lot of cheesy humor.
The only 'annoying' thing about it is having to solely rely on your mouse since there's no keyboard controls but that's a very minor flaw.

Conclusion: Go pick this game up on any sale!

It used to be one of my favorite games back in 2010!
Brings me so many good childhood memories :)
Love the voice acting, jokes, art-style and game-play in general.
Highly recommended to buy if you want to chill.

Completely Unplayable.

- A quarter of the screen appears duplicated on my secondary monitor.
- Mouse sensitivity is way to high
- Icons are half out the bottom of the monitor
- After starting the first level, I can't find anything in the game that does anything when I click on it.

One of those games where you spawn troops and watch them walk left to right towards the enemy base, fighting enemy soldiers until they run out of health and fall over or reach the enemy base and blow it up. You win by clicking the buttons to spawn troops faster than the enemy can keep up with and occasionally firing spells to do damage to or debuff the enemy, or heal and buff your troops. You have next to no control over our troops (sometimes there are multiple lanes and you can choose which lane to send them down.) It's just not a style of game that I find very fun and feels too simplistic.

The cartoonish representation of various cultures does NOT offend me, what does offend me is that this trash mobile game is pure garbage even for mobile game standards.

It is nothing but brainless RTS style gameplay where you mine for minerals, or gold in this case in order to produce units or research upgrades. Think of it like Warcraft or Starcraft but with the added stench of lackluster, repetitive and tedious gameplay.

The gameplay itself is absolutely unbalanced.
Most of the time you will win by just mass producing units until you overwhelm your opponent.
However on some of the later levels, the opponent already has a sizeable group already halfway across the map while you are still upgrading and generating gold.

The worst thing about it is that you are not even allowed to group your units together, they will just aimlessly move towards your opponent's base one-by-one like lemmings to the slaughter, while somehow your opponent is able to stack their units together.

Trash mobile game.

I expected very little of Swords and Soldiers (S&S), as it was an extra, unknown game in a Humble Bundle that started its life as a console game. I was pleasantly surprised!

S&S is a curious blend of two genres I don't usually enjoy: 2D side scroller and RTS. However, five minutes into the game, I could see through the cutesy graphics and I found a game of surprising challenge and deep gameplay. S&S is now available for tablet play, but it's far more challenging than the average casual tablet game.

Without going into the game mechanics, I'll briefly say that the challenge of S&S is about recruiting the right balance of each unit type into your army to make your forces competitive in groups. Also, staying focused on the big picture while also assisting your units at the strategic level. The game plays at a very brisk pace, which makes it difficult to manage all aspects of your forces at once.

The levels are bite-sized; about 5-15 minutes each, perfect for a game that was born as a mobile app. But the levels become increasingly more complex. A couple of hours into S&S, and you'll find a staggering number of things that you have to manage simultaneously. You have to juggle more and more types of units and one-off attacks to reach victory in each new level.

S&S also includes an online mode for playing competitively against friends.

If you like RTS games, give this a go. It's a pretty good game at a budget price.

As for me? Lesson learned: Play every game. I expected little, but Swords and Soldiers impressed me.
