In Sanctum wurde Shooter und Tower-Defense Spiel miteinander Kombiniert.
Zu beginn jeder Runde wählt man die Türme, die man benutzen möchte sowie die Waffen.
Man muss ein Labyrinth aus Türmen bauen, welche die Gegner beschießen.
Außerdem muss man die Waffen und Türme Upgraden, damit sie im späteren Verlauf des Spieles noch genügend schaden machen.
Das Ziel des Spieles ist es den Kern zu beschützen, dieser wird von jedem Gegner beschädigt, der ihn erreicht.
Mit der Entertaste kann man immer die nächste Welle starten, nach jeder Welle werden die Gegner stärker.
Es gibt circa 20 verschiedenen Türme und 6 Waffen die man auswählen kann.
Es gibt einen normalen Spielmodus in der man eine bestimmte Welle erreichen muss um zu Gewinnen und unbegrenzt
Zeit vor jeder Welle hat und einen Survival Modus, für den es verschiedene EInstellungen gibt, außerdem gibt es 3 verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade.
In diesem Spiel machen aber nicht nur die Türme die Arbeit, sondern der Spieler muss auch mithelfen und die Gegner angreifen, allerdings ist es hier leider so, dass man selbst recht wenig zu tun hat, die meiste Arbeit machen immer noch die Türme.
Die Grafik ist etwas alt, aber immer noch akzeptabel, die Performance ist allerdings noch Verbesserungswürdig.
Wenn zu viele Türme aufeinmal schießen, geht die FPS Zahl oft auf 30 herunter, was etwas stört, am meinem PC liegt das allerdings nicht, denn das gleiche Problem tritt bei allen Grafikeinstellungen auf und bei Sanctum 2 habe ich das Problem nicht.
Nun noch eine Kurze Zusammenfassung was Positiv und was Negativ ist.

Positiv:

+Ein noch ziemlich ungenutztes Spiel-Genre (EIn Mix aus Tower Defense und Shooter)
+Viele Türme
+Einfach zu verstehen
+Im Spiel erhält man alle wichtigen Infos zu Türmen und Gegnern
+Hohe Schwierigkeitsgrade - wenn man eine Herausfordrung brauch
+Multiplayer (habe ich nicht gespielt, ist aber vorhanden)
+Verschiedene Spielmodi

Neutral:

~Mäßige Grafik

Negativ:

-Schlechte Performance bei vielen Türmen
-Der Spieler wird oft nicht so stark ins Spiel einbezogen

Insgesamt ein Spiel, das man zwar nicht sehr oft hintereinander spielt, wenn man ein kurzes Spiel zwischendurch machen möchte ist Sanctum aber Perfekt und für 3-5€ (Im Angebot) kann man auch nicht viel falsch machen.

Ein Tower-Defense Spiel das sich aber dichter an Ego-Shooter anlehnt als die klassischen Tower-Defense Spiele die sich dem Thema von dem Strategie-Genre her nähern. Mir gefällt das Spiel wie auch sein Nachfolger Sanctum 2 recht gut vom Leveldesign und der eingängigen Steuerung.

Schöner Mix aus First Person Shooter und Tower Defense.
Das Spiel benutzt die Unreal Engine und läuft auch auf alten Rechnern wie meinem ohne Probleme.

Man kämpft selber mit und muss sich um die Gegner zu kümmern, welche den Türmen Probleme bereiten.
Schießt man auf die empfindlichen Stellen der Gegner gibt es einen erheblichen Schadensbonus.
Zwischen den Wellen gibt es immer eine Pause in der man seine verdienten Ressourcen für sich oder den Ausbau der Türme ausgeben kann.
Der Weg der Gegner kann man durch Türme beeinflussen.
Es gibt 4 verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade, aber auch schon einzelne Wellen können etwas härter sein.
Man kann im Multiplayer Modus gemeinsam mit bis zu 3 Mitstreitern in die Schlacht ziehen.
Das Verhältnis von FPS zu TD sehe ich bei 60:40.

Probiert einfach mal die Demo aus.
Das Spiel gibt es als Complete Edition oft im günstigem Angebot.

Fazit
Es macht richtig Spaß mal zusammen mit den eigenen Türmen zu kämpfen.
*Seufz* Wenn doch auch das Super Sanctum TD mit dieser Grafik Engine gemacht wäre.

FPS excellent mit Tower Defense kombiniert !
Wenn dir Sanctum 2 gefällt, wird dir der Vorgänger mit ziemlicher Sicherheit auch gefallen.^^
Und umgekehrt auch. Sanctum, ist aber weniger umfangreich als der Nachfolger.
Kennst du keins der Spiele...? Schäm dich ! Änder dein leben....

+ Unterschiede zu Sanctum 2 :

- Man kann sich auf der Map teleportieren
- Feuerwaffen sind im Rahmen einer Map upgradebar
- Gegner verursachen keinen Schaden am Spieler
- Keine Fähigkeiten-Perks
- Keine Kraftakte dafür verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade
- Barrieren sind realistischer da höher, man kann ohne Lift nicht auf oder über die Barrieren
- Keine Charakterauswahl
- Kein Levelsystem, nichts freischaltbar

Tower Defense UND Shooter, neeh das geht nicht, oder? Doch das geht!
Wer diese beiden Genres gern hat, wird dieses Spiel lieben. Man kann etwas seine grauen Zellen anstrengen und zwischendurch abschalten und Ballern. Es gibt sogar noch einen 2. Teil. Der ist durch die Hexadonalen Basis-Tower auch noch interessanter geworden. Man sollte jedoch die DLC bei Teil 1 und Teil 2 dazu kaufen, sonst verpasst man ein bisschen vom Spiel.

Sanctum versucht etwas komplett neues auf den Markt zu bringen, was ja keineswegs etwas negatives ist. Ein Tower-Defence-Game in Kombination mit einem Ego-Shooter wie Cod klingt doch gar nicht mal so schlecht. Santum ist das größtenteils auch gelungen. Am Anfang platziert man wie in Defence Grid seine Türme und dann kann man zusätzlich mit seinen Waffen auf die Gegner einschießen um sie in den Tartarus zu befördern. Das aktive Schießen ist aber optional, denn es wird nicht immer benötigt, besonders bei leichten Levels. Im Gesamten ein gelungenes Spiel.

Honestly, no one cares what I write. So, this is a great game. That's it. But honestly, I wanna write more in here but look, there are tons of reviews for the same game and Come on, you think I would write something else. Everything is literally covered in all the other positive reviews . So, why is another review even needed .....To increase the count of overall game reviews I have made in lifetime and make my steam profile appears cool. If you did manage to figure out before those 4 dots as to what I am about to write after 4 dots. OMG, You are wonderful ! Here's 0$ from me as a reward .

Sanctum was way ahead of it's time. 4 player co-op, hybrid tower defense + FPS, exploration meta-game secrets hidden out of bounds. Here we are ten years after the game came out and I still play it!

Sanctum runs flawless on modern computers (even at 4K resolution) and co-op still works!

Iconic tower defence combined with rollicking FPS blastery. Nicely modulated advancement, and higher difficulties are truly challenging, and provide excellent replayability. Feels dated these days, graphics-wise, but that adds to the nostalgia factor and doesn't detract from the play at all. Quite simply, a must-have.

A solid first-person tower-defense game.
Place down a path of walls and traps to hinder waves of enemies, and blast any stragglers left alive with your guns.
Played this with my partner and we sunk a good amount of time into it.

For those wondering, this game and its sequel play rather differently.

Tower defense with a twist, it's a first person shooter too! Great fun as coop with lots of tactical options. All the time you need to set up your defense then intense frenetic action as the enemy attacks!

This Game is perfect if you love games where you need to plan your moves, and love to mow down aliens. I'd recommend using the shotgun, Rex, and Tesla to get a good feel for how to play the game.

TL;DR: Game is great, Best starting class

Played through single player on normal and found it to be a good, fun challenge. The blend of FPS and tower defense is nicely balanced where you need to manage both your weapon upgrades and your towers and can't neglect either one. It's a blast playing multiplayer as well!

A really brilliant Tower Defence game. Not perfect, but it's great for casual and hardened players of the genre.
Playing this game online with friends was some of the best times of college for me. Thank you Sanctum!

I...really don't understand why I don't enjoy this game.

I love Dungeon Defenders but disliked Orcs must die and this game. I'm quite confused why that is. I just feel so uncomfortable with the levels and the way you have to design things as well as the enemies.

I feel bad for not enjoying this.

Sanctum is a sci-fi themed tower defense / fps hybrid. Having really enjoyed Orcs Must Die, we decided to give Sanctum a go for a co-op playthrough. I do not know how things have improved in Sanctum 2, but the first game is rather dull. Firstly, there is a perspective problem as to how the towers scale in comparison to the monsters. Most of the time, you feel like you are visually not in control of what is going on. The missions are quite repetitive and the towers are mostly boring. DLC levels are also often uninspired. I did like the setting and it’s a pity that the developers did not do a better job with Sanctum. Your time would be better spent playing Orcs Must Die.

this game is a blast,
id say its better than its sequel!
the creativity in resource management and tower placement makes this game really interesting,
i always come back to this game every so often to complete all the levels again.
there are lots of secrets and playing with friends just improves the already great experience twofold or what have you.
i dont know why im talking like a corny old man in this review. get the game its great do it :)

Orcs must die, but for people who'd rather min-max their stats, instead of finding unique trap combinations to beat the waves.
