Not sure if they're ever going to update or patch this game. It's a lot of fun, but I really wish they'd incorporated a target lock system. No ability to lock onto a target, target nearest enemy, cycle targets, or target subsystems. This is a crucial feature which almost every space combat game has, not sure why it isn't here. Other than that, the game is a load of fun and if you like Everspace, you'll like this.

gameplay is solid but lacks content. 2 rocket launchers. about 10 guns but there is no need to change them since they don't grow in dps. only 2 guns per ship. and ships has little to no difference. the all have the same slots (2 gun, 1 secondary(missile)).
Enemy shot frequently pass through solid objects.

TLDR Extremely underdevelopped

I was given this game to give a preview to my audience and I enjoyed it a lot. If I didn't like the game I would say it. This game does get a bit challenging if you don't upgrade ships and weapons as you get farther in the game. I found the exploration levels, where you go and explore a level is where I had the most fun. The controls feel just right and it wasn't to hard for me to jump in and play. Now I know this is a port of a phone game as well but I think $15 is just right, you get to use a controller and the music and graphics are stunning.

A cover shooter where you never stop moving. The mobile port elements are showing, but the colorful space dust is nice. The game loop is basically: fly around to get hit less, while lining up and destroying enemies with a few quick shots; when your shields get low, run away and hide behind a rock or space station to regenerate. It's rather enjoyable.

The upgrade system is kind of lame though, I had it completely figured out about a third of the way through the game.

I had this whole review thought out and rehearsed a day or two ago, but my mind's a mess and I lost it, so I'll keep this (relatively) brief.

A third-person space shooter with nice graphics and pretty swell tunes, not a bad story but perhaps a little light on editing in terms of missing words, overall a decent experience although somewhat short and a bit more challenging as things move on. It's nothing ground-breaking, but it's a good way to pass some time. Controls are smooth (at least in my experience, I only used a controller) and aside from some stubborn obstacles and two escort missions the game was relatively simple and not at all a major bother to get through.
In particular enemies that semi-frequently hit you with an EMP that disables automatic tracking are a serious nuisance, and in the later game there're enemies with missile launchers that can track you across the entire map even if they can't hit you, which is itself not as bad as it could be but every time a missile is tracking you--whether or not it can hit you, for instance if you're inside of something--it causes your HUD to beep an alarm at you until there's not a single missile still tracking you, which is more of a headache-inducer than a credible threat.
In its favor, although there is a degree of grinding to get the good stuff, that grind is not exceptionally hard to overcome, especially thanks to the exploration maps, which allow you to gather resources that you can sell or, in certain cases, use to craft new ships. And you can feasibly get by using nothing but the starting ship and weapons if you're good enough, I'd wager (which I'm not lol), so upgrading just makes things even easier, relatively speaking.

Altogether, a fairly solid game imo. Definitely recommended if you're big on space-themed shooters.
(As an aside, I would totally buy the soundtrack if it were available, hint-hint-nudge-nudge)

TLDR: it's a 3rd'person First person spaceship shooter. iN Space. With lots of guns and spaceships. Tons of fun @VSYNC 60FPS- nvidia control panel for fast vsync, SMOOTH AS ICE: Willing to sacrifice.
You can play a brave space elite ranger- and it might even be easy for you.

Recommended_ Great game, very straight into the action of space hunting, with your upgradeable weapons, new ships,
Resources are gold, blueprints, ship stuff, after destroying enemies, you basically space-salvage, to help your journey forward.
The graphics are top notch- 1080p- immersive, beyond. You move your mouse and it responds. I played the default settings vsync on and it looks gorgeous every quick rotation.

It's leaps and bounds simple. But after the campaign missions it further gives you explorer areas to run around in.

Your dialogue is with a robot on this mining station you rescued, but he's beyond incapable. He's your R2D2 giving you readings on this sector you have secured, but all the work in progress is completed by captain You,

Lots of fun. New weapons, lots of stuff in the shop to buy from in-game stuff, Recycle old weapons - see statistics on current , and compare the values between this and ships.

The ships are not modular though. It's a stock-ship - you can only modify weapons. You get like radar boost items, and what not, but it will all be dependent on the current ship-type , and eventually you're going to get to the big ships. Probably one frigate per sector of campaign. I had to beat Boss of Chapter 1 before i could upgrade the ship tier.

You also have energy levels for the shields, and boosters, Shift to speed.
Very controller-friendly game. I couldn't turn in off. But you move QWE ASD ship can rotate on whichever axis you face with QE and AD is for strafing .:)

Steam-Controller Supported -Xbox- And PS4- if you play it as xbox;

Only missing point of this game: AChievements which can still give it a straight up 95/100 XL score, due to no real bugs. Simple, straight forward, rocket dodging, RPG of space. Freelancer of the Light-Wave represents . It's bug-free up till now. Upgrade, re-sell weapons, new ships, go into mission. Loads within 5 seconds and you're already looking at where the enemies are coming from.

This game seems really fun, but I cannot play it for more than 5 minutes without it crashing.

I tried to contact support via the Steam provided link, but it just takes you to a sketchy looking website with nothing but questionable looking links to other games. Was unable to find a google fix for this issue, but did update my gpu driver and ensure that my pc met (and exceeded) all of the recommended specs to play this game.

I am refunding this purchase, although I would prefer just being able to play the game without having to jump through hoops.

Pretty short and sweet indie space shooter game. I would recommend getting it on sale though.
It is definitely trying to emulate elements from other space games, notably Everspace. Ultimately it took me a total of 10 hours to get everything out of the game. The missions are bland and the story is really not that exciting at all.
However, the combat feels very fluid and the space environments look quite impressive for an indie game. It might have been short, but I did enjoy this space shooter. So if you are out for some casual shooter fun, you can buy this game on sale. Otherwise there are plenty of other space shooters out there.

It's like Everspace... but not rogue-like. Sense of accomplishment is more gratifying in Subdivision Infinity. Controls are pretty much the same, replayability is probably likely the same. Something I can come back to easily and enjoy some time to kill while having fun. Being able to replay previous missions is nice to farm credits or mine for resources to expand your ship collection. Definitely a fun game and worth the money spent... even for 4hrs played.

I just gave a chance to this game and I'm happy I didn't skip it. I was looking for some space battles game with descent graphics, without too much deep gameplay, but with many spaceships and simple crafting system. Subdivision Infinity provided me all of this. The graphics are more than just good. Hangar has 10 spaceships and I must admit - each of them look cool! In the shop I've found variations of guns to purchase. 10/10 weapons design, by the way! And the most important part - space battle gameplay - it's not annoying, it's competitive and it has the BOSSES! Simply well made game, which I'm gonna recommend to all space battles genre players.

I was so excited to Play this brand new space game(i LOVE space games) but then as I took a gander at the hangar to see all the ships that would be mine in the future, I realized that it all seems so familiar. That is when I realized that this is a $15 port of a FREE mobile game that I had played about 6 months ago on my android phone. I don't think it took me more than a few hours to finish the campaign (which is like the same 4 or 5 mission types with different sky boxes for each section of the galaxy map)

It was an entertaining few hours, but I cant recommend buying this game. If you really want to play it then go get it for free on your phone. I think I remember liking the controls better on the phone anyway.

Overview

Subdivision Infinity is an arcade space shooter that proposes a straightforward gameplay style, without any overly-complex frills to it, which may be a good or bad thing depending on taste. Impersonating ace pilot Jon Riddle, players will find themselves fighting and exploring throughout various sectors of a distant quadrant, in pursuit of a mysterious threat that already taken many lives, while also upgrading their arsenal with new ships, weapons.

The title features only Campaign as game mode, which is divided into chapters, composed each of five Story missions and two optional Exploration missions. Missions have to be unlocked and completed in order, as customary. During each level, players will find themselves fighting a decent variety of enemies, ranging from fighters, stationary emplacements, to capital ships and gunships - these enemies, when destroyed, drop resources used in crafting new ships or upgrading existing ones, weapons as well. The objective variety proposed is rather limited, and mainly will be about destroying every enemy in an area, finding several items, or escorting an allied ship for a set time.

Between missions, the Hangar allows ship customization and upgrading, albeit not in a very articulate manner. New ships can be bought with credits or crafted if the player acquired Blueprints and Resources for them, which are the whole point of doing Exploration missions. Crafted ships are usually better, especially when Evolved (upgraded), so it's worth putting extra time in finding the schematics. The weapon variety proposed is decent enough though a few weapons outclass pretty much every other one, making the usage of any other than these two a worse choice. Only two difficulty levels, Easy and Normal, are available, which may be a disappointment for more skilled players. On Normal, the game's challenge level is modest, and rarely it presents obstacles or enemies really hard to beat.

Overall, Subdivision is a quite nice space shooter, even if a rather simplistic one, that does not feature character progression, skill systems or many RPG mechanics at all. It's a game that proposes a straightforward gameplay style and does it quite well, but also, players seeking a deeper, more faceted experience may find it lackluster. For this budget price range, the game features around 6-8 hours of content depending on skill level and time taken to explore, grind resources if needed: it's a decent price and if you do like this genre, buying it for this tag is a good choice.

Decent

Pros & Cons

???? Pros
+ Good graphics quality in general, with lighting, effects and environmental art direction being more prominent.
+ Simple but functional gameplay formula, proposing a straightforward number of mechanics that ultimately work well.
+ Very few and minor bugs or technical issues, making it a well-polished experience.
+ Good enough overall variety and progression to keep players interested from start to end.

???? Cons
- No graphics options of any kind in Video settings, apart from Resolution, Fullscreen and Vsync.
- Challenge is generally on the easy side, as there is no difficulty higher than Normal.
- Two specific weapons are simply better than any other ones if used correctly, creating balance problems.
- Story, characters and setting are generic and uninteresting for the most part.

In-Depth Breakdown

???? Gameplay Analysis
The gameplay of Subdivision Infinity is divided into Story MIssions, Exploration Missions, Hangar Management, and Combat.

Story Missions feature plot-relevant events and objectives allowing players to progress the story, of course. Each one has different objectives, some of which are rarely unique, but most of the time they will be classics of the genre such as eliminate all enemies, destroy something, recover / scan this particular object, or kill the boss. There is some degree of repetition but not that much to become annoying. Missions are divided into phases, triggering the next objective when one is completed. Generally Story missions are not very long, 15 minutes as average duration is a good estimate. Getting killed will result in restarting the mission from the beginning. These missions reward substantial amounts of cash to spend in upgrades or ships and will be the main income source, they can be replayed, but rewards will be much smaller.

Exploration Missions put players into a free roam environment, where enemies periodically spawn to hunt them. In this mission type, the main goal is to get as many blueprints, resources and materials as possible before escaping back through the Portal. Asteroids can be mined with the proper tools, and depending on sector and asteroid type, they will release different resources, some for crafting, others just to sell for an extra buck. Blueprints are the real deal: very hard to find without a Radar Probe, which is expensive and single use, they allow players to craft unique ships when all fragments are collected. In case of death, everything collected in that run is lost and has to be acquired again.

Hangar Management is the only way to upgrade weapons, ships or buy new ones. A handy shop menu features a list of weapons, unlocked progressively through leveling, and also gadgets such as Probes. The ship vendor features two types of them: standard, obtainable with hard cash, or Special ones crafted with blueprints, rare resources, and also some cash. Every ship can be Evolved with enough Evolution Kits, which enemies drop, and doing so will boost armor rating and cargo space. Weapons can be upgraded as well with Gear Crates, boosting damage, rate of fire and ammo capacity. Materials acquired during exploration can be also sold for extra cash, if needed.

Combat, as expected from this genre, is very fast-paced and based on dodging enemy volleys, engaging high speed dog-fighting against multiple enemies, while also keeping an eye on Shield and Health meters. Individually, small enemies will be quite fragile, but almost always their numbers will be plenty. Medium and Heavy enemies, such as gunships, guard drones or even capital ships on the other hand are tough and equipped with multiple weapons. Player weapons can be bullet based, having to reload them, or energy based, overheating over time but with unlimited magazine. In both choices ammo reserve is unlimited, so no running out of it. While certainly fun, sometimes spectacular, and engaging, combat lacks more beefy challenges for those players requiring so, and also those few weapons standing above all others for raw DPS are a balance problem. For the rest, do not expect additional mechanics, combat formula is as straightforward as it gets, which is not a bad thing.

???? Performance Analysis
The game does have some rare slowdowns in more crowded situations or complex environments, even on an high end config, but generally optimization and stability are good and it runs well in 1440p. No major issues to report. [i7 4820K, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM].

Final Thoughts

Subdivision Infinity is definitely a decent budget-indie space shooter that does not try to overdo it and keeps it simple, clean, functional, and does it well. The lack of harder difficulties and imperfect balance are dents, for sure, but overall it's definitely a nice game.

Sure, it's a bit like Freespace, Galaxy on Fire and Everspace. But, it's got its own thing going on.

Subdivision Infinity DX is an arcade space dogfighting game. Numerous ships are to be obtained. Either through exploration and the finding of specific crafting materials and blueprints. Or through sheer tenacity of the accrual of wealth. Each ship can then be “evolved” to be a slightly improved version of itself.

I mentioned Everspace up top but this is no rogue-lite. This is a story and instance based game where progression is consistent and raw materials are kept through death (unless you can't stay alive upon first retrieving them.) During exploration missions, which can be selected at each location. You'll be able to mine asteroids and use radar probes to search for the crates hidden within the sector. These crates typically have much more valuable items then mining random asteroids. Of course, pesky miscreants will persistently try to murder you as you do this. Often, you'll need to obtain keycards to open doors to bases that are more or less unoccupied stay for any turrets protecting would-be assets.

Typically, as opposed to the ships that need to be crafted, the ships that need to be bought (with in-game currency) are generally equal in power. Shields, armor, amount of hardpoints and cargo capacity.

You'll also be able repeat story missions to sort of “farm” if exploration and mining isn't in your itinerary.

You have a pilot level that gains XP throughout the game. Unlocking new ships and weapons. Granted, it only unlocks the ability to obtain them. You'll still raw materials and/or capital investment to purchase them and subsequently upgrade them.

The story is alright, it's nothing to write home about. But, it's certainly interesting enough to not feel completely banal.

The the actual gameplay and dogfights are very fun, there is a nice reticle that aids in telling you where to aim to properly lead the target. The weapon variety is nice. You'll have skirmishes with huge hulking dreadnoughts, replete their own fleet of smaller fighters to contend with. As well as missions where you'll search and destroy signal jammers. The objective variety is decent. Full gameapd support is present if that's your thing. (The auto-aim is rather generous. Though, I feel the gamepad default controls are less intuitive than your keyboard and mouse.)

THE GIST:
Subdivision Infinity DX is a very enjoyable arcade space fighter. Should you complete the game without unlocking all the ships, especially the ones that need to be crafted. There really isn't any reason to go back aside from assuaging your completionist mentality.
