Dear Traveller,
One of the most prominent issues we hear about from our community is the compatibility issue on Apple machines with M1 chips. In the hardware requirements for Book of Travels, the recommended processor designated is Intel Core i7 processor (with Intel Core i3 being the minimum) and it's also noted that M based processors aren't compatible. We understand, however, that it's easy to accidentally buy a game on Steam when it says it's playable on Mac without further looking into the detailed hardware requirements, and that's why we so often hear about this problem impacting our players.
The good news is that there's a work around which is detailed in a great Youtube video embedded into this post. This method has been successful in making some of our Discord community members being able to play it on their M1 machines.
In summary:

[*] Right-click Book of Travels in your Steam library and go to "Properties"
[*] Click "Local Files" on the left and then "Browse"
[*] Right-click on "BookOfTravels" in the directory and then "Get info"
[*] In this window, tick the box "Open using Rosetta". You can now close all windows
[*] Launch the game

You can read more about Rosetta here. Note that this isn't the same as running an application natively on an M1 machine and is, again, to be strictly considered a work around for the compatibility issue.
