Sync up big patch with Quest/Oculus
Eleven: Table Tennis VR
05.01.24 13:42 Community Announcements
This has been a long time coming. This syncs up the game with the version that has been on the quest (and has been iterated and polished for a very long time)

I unfortunately can't test it on every single headset there is, so if you encounter any new issues, please post here or better yet, reach out to me via chat:

EDIT: the notes below are all of the ones from discord. Mixed reality is not currently supported on steam. We'll try to add it. Meanwhile, if you play the game on any quest headset and play it on steam, please reach out to me on the discord.

As far as the changes. This is a pretty big revamp of both UI and internal code. I know in the past I have mentioned that all of the release notes are on discord, but some people didn't want to join or didn't feel like they should ever need to join another app, so i'm pasting them here as well:

I'll post the patch notes as they came out:

0.265.1
1. complete UI overhaul
2. oculus avatars now available in the game, but also there is an avatar configuration menu which lets you control how and if you see your avatar, and how and if you see remote avatars.
3. the oversized paddle has been removed. It has been in the game from very very early but it was originally brought it without much consideration for matching actual measurements of real life paddles, and then left in to offset tracking issues. However, tracking has improved significantly for many platforms, and a keeping larger paddle without the disadvantages of a larger paddle found in real life, is a deviation from reality that we are choosing to remove.
4. default paddle parameters for the advanced rubbers have throw above 1.0 as many of you have suggested.
5. Max spin settings has been reduced from 96 to 93. I still have plans to run physics experiments, but i don't want users to wait. My own experience, and the feedback of a lot of users with real life experience has shown that 96 spin is too high compared to real life - letting users produce shots that they would not be able to produce in real life with the available paddles in real life.

270.12
nui-live channel on preview app,
and about to be NUI channel on live app as well
fixed ball reset limitter missing
fixed own mic volume setting not persisting
, then relative to preview live nui build (and live build in general)
extensive improvements in performance re avatars (especially when they are not being shown)
improvements in performance related to paddle-table interaction
extra logging to help figure out relay-p2p issue
quadrants app fixed

v0.270.20

Big overhaul on music and sfx in the game. A lot of sounds have been added and there is significantly greater diversity of audio effects.
-new music (9 songs replacing the old 4)
-Paddle against table sounds have been updated.
-various UI related sounds
-state change sounds effects - such as leaving and entering a match, winning and losing points, winning and losing a match, getting an invite, etc.

Bug Fixes:
-fixed opponent skill relax toggle
-fixed menu getting into a stuck state during warmup
-fixed user restrictions not functioning (banned users were able to play or use their mic when they weren't supposed to be able to)
-fixed issue where mic meter wasn't representative of the audio being sent across. You could have set your mic setting to 0 but still see the meter react to your voice.
-fixed the left panel showing the wrong page when you were in a warmup during ranked play. Now you can adjust your ping compensation/pingball settings as you warmup with your opponent.
-fixed a bunch of voip related issues concerning muting opponents and a few cross version issues.
-fixed default ping filter limiting lobby users to only those closest to you
-fixed asian language bolding issue (they should never be bold)
-performance improvements

Known Issues being worked on:
-relay connections: some users are still stuck connecting only through relays. If you are having this issue, please reach out to us so we can troubleshoot with you. Generally, since the last hotfix, the ratio of p2p to relay connections has returned to pre new UI update.
-AI free hit: users are reporting that their free hit AI is not playing at the level set in the free practice UI. We are not able to replicate this ourselves, but we have some leads. If you are experiencing this consistantly, please reach out to us.
-the game occasionally gets into a bad state where the frame rate drops significantly during a match. We are looking into this with high priority. This also includes when this sort of situation results in the whole game hanging for a few seconds.
-the UI Clock: coming soon

0.270.23

-fixed an issue that was causing ping compensation to persist when not in a multiplayer setting (such as free hit against the AI).
This also made the AI completely break, so likely fixed the issue that users were complaining about regarding the AI

0.274.10

available on quest default store app (but only on preview channel..some minor testing left to do)
available on quest preview app (nui-live channel)

-network interplayer ping tester
-some logging fixes
-fixed multi hit protection not working
-added some server connectivity fixes
-new panel (when news is available)

274.11

-updated splash screen to be a bit less crisp (too many jaggies)
-some logging fixes
-added a mod tool for Sulik :)
-updated arena preview image to the old image for now

305.0

spin/throw and ping compensation limit functionality. (server driven). I don't actually plan to disable ping compensation..but I put it in there in case I change my mind.
performance improvements : last tests show that even normal arena can run at 120 fps. Would love to hear users' experience regarding this
some sound changes, but shouldn't be much. More coming....
a lot of internal process improvements - so there may be a bug here or there. @lefla mentioned a few the other day, some resolved, some I have yet to verify.
some collider fixes

305.1:
fixed ball spawn issues that were preventing people from event getting past the tutorial. Fixed some other menu relateded issues. Next up is the issue where the names on tables/notification/challenges are wrong

310.6

quest 3 and pro controllers

mixed reality (for quest 2,3,pro) SURPRISSSSE ???? (thanks to the effort of @ansatz who is kicking ass in PickleBall Pro developement. I was too scared to even touch the effort to make MR work - to him, it was just a typical weekday and he got it done ???? )

a lot performance improvements
new splash screen
audio improvements

voip freeze fix
q3 and qpro controller images added to the game
reset chalet window visibility to clear

0.311.12
- more voip freeze logging/error handling
- arena invisible collider fix
- fix for rubber being set to 0 value at defaults
- fix for table moving when you move your head (especially visible in mixed reality)
- slightly improved tracking (this is related to the table movement fix..which involves moving the time at which the head and controller poses are polled to the end of the frame. This reduced render latency relative to the controller pose, and thus means less prediction required...which means less error)
-removed glass windows from chalet

0.312.0
very quick patch because the last thing introduced a tracking issue and that's very important. After some users test this, it will be pushed live

-fixed issue where paddle collisions were 1 frame behind when using the new "get pose on render" toggle (which is on by default in the advanced tracking menu for oculus users)
-added a check box to toggle on a different spatializer we were experimenting with. It's not it's final state, but the sounds are a bit different. No gaurantees that it will stick around..but play around with it if you'd like (in advanced gfx/audio panel)

0.313.12
- some UI polish

- fixed send-all logs functionality
- fixed rubber scroll when having exactly 5 rubbers

0.317.2
- overhaul of left and right panels, including paddle/table/ball flow.
- backend syncing of paddle presets and rubbers (more to come in the future)
- fixed bug with ball machine allowing you to save same named presets
- (as mentioned before) fixed unstable multiplayer pose tracking (your opponent should appear smoother)
- (as mentioned before) added 11A and "Ultimate PPP Pro" quest 3 adapters
- removed log all outbound/inbound as some users have toggled this and left it on - it logs a lot.
- fixed a bug that left the paddle in a weird state sometimes after collision with the table. Where to fix it in the past, you went into the position preset menu and re-applied a position.

0.317.3

0.318.(4,5,6):

-fixed issue where a new rubber could be made with 0'd out values
-updated paddle and rubber syncing code. We know there is some issue that has been duplicating the paddles/rubbers for folks. We'll be cleaning it up soon and this release is needed to make sure everyone is on a version that would accept our backend cleanup change when it happens.
-for monitor mode, defaulted controllers to not be shown. Press 'H' to toggle showing the controllers.
-fixed some issue where having a third player in the room broke some inter-player communications on start of match
-improved performance of paddle screen load
-fixed issue where paddle size wasn't being sent to the server.
-some logging added.

..and unrelated to the app version itself, some users had issues logging in. So we fixed something server side.

0.322.1 :
-network stability
-some prep work for Dusseldorf

0.323.1
-disconnect performance fix (pretty sure i found the reason the frame rate tanks when a user disconnects from you mid match)
-found a bug that caused some game logic desync. Specifically, if mid point, after you hit the ball, it hits a surface that isn't the table top, and then within the period of time allowed for multi hit, it hits your racket, then both players would disagree on the state of the match. This can happen if you hit the edge of your table and the ball rattles.
-fixed the issue where for new users, the laser pointer wasn't being rendered at fresh start.
-fixed the issue where post user report, the message wasn't shown (just a layering issue)

0.323.2
- just for pcvr: quick fix to fix the app id used for entitlement
