Defy Gravity is an action platformer that is a mix between classic platforming and gravity based puzzle solving. Kara, our heroine, has access to a unique gameplay mechanic that she uses to manipulate the world around her. She has a gun that is able to alter the laws of physics through the creation of pockets of gravity and anti-gravity. By mastering the use of these abilities Kara is able to augment her jump in order to almost fly past obstacles. These powers can also be utilized to move objects that block her path and platforms that Kara stands on in order to traverse the levels.

Hüpferei zwischen den Sternen

Ursprünglich habe ich mir das Spiel tatsächlich nur geholt, weil man es für 19 Cent oder mal im Angebot bekommen konnte und mich Freunde darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben, dass die Sammelkarten somit mehr Wert als das Spiel an sich haben.

Gameplay
“Defy Gravity Extended” spielt sich simpel und zugleich sehr clever. Denn in diesem Sidescroller haben wir nur zwei Portale, um Hindernisse zu überbrücken. Beide können wir auf Distanz abfeuern und während uns das Eine heranzieht, stößt uns das andere Portal ab. Das Spiel ist zwar trotzdem relativ kurz, aber dafür recht abwechslungsreich. Obendrein kann man es ein zweites Mal versuchen, hat jedoch dann nur noch ein Portal zur Verfügung, was definitv eine Herausforderung wird.

Story
Wir schlüpfen in Rolle von Kara, einer jungen Astronautin, die in eine bestimmte Region des Weltalls reist, um sich wie schon ihre Vorgänger zu beweisen. Also so eine Art galaktische Mutprobe. Viel mehr Geschichte gibt es dann allerdings auch nicht.

Grafik/Sound
Die Grafik hat zwar nur wenige Pixel, aber das passt sehr gut zum Spiel. Außerdem gleicht sich der Soundtrack an und der Grafikstil passt hervorragend zu der einfachen Kulisse. Nicht vergessen: Das Spiel ist sehr günstig!

Fazit
„Defy Gravity Extended“ ist zwar kurz und simpel, macht dafür aber tatsächlich als Geschicklichkeitsspiel durchaus Spaß. Trotz des geringen Preises merkt man, dass der Entwickler sich durchaus Gedanken gemacht hat. Für den derzeitigen Preis von einem Euro oder sogar noch günstiger kann man hier definitv zuschlagen!

Dieses Review sollte am Besten wie eines der Portale im Spiel wirken. Es sollte dich in meine Steamgruppe hineinziehen. Na, klappt es?

Ich habe Defy Gravity im Winter Sale für 9 Cent gekauft, bei dem Preis kann man ja nichts falsch machen. Dementsprechend hatte ich keine hohen Erwartungen. Allerdings ist es wirklich ein nettes Spiel für zwischendurch. Jump and Run, aber trotzdem mit etwas Taktik verbunden, da man sich selbst und Gegner durch Gravitations- und Anti-Gravitationsfelder lenken muss. Wer auf Retro Spiele steht wird sicher Gefallen daran finden, und auch zum Vollpreis sind die ca 5 Spielstunden die das Spiel umfasst in Ordnung. An einigen Abschnitten wird man sicher zu knabbern haben und es wird nicht zu schnell langweilig ;)

Übrigens ein super Soundtrack!

Dieses Spiel beweist einmal wieder, warum es sich so lohnt hin und wieder einige Indie-Spiele auszuprobieren.

Mittlerweile hätte ich ja fast schon gern den Vollpreis von zwei Euro (!) für dieses Spiel bezahlt. Bekommen habe ich es gerade mal für schlappe neun Cent + Sammelkarten, wodurch ich im Endeffekt sogar noch Geld zurückbekommen habe. Und trotzdem kann sich dieses Spiel mehr als sehen lassen.

Die Level sind zuerst leicht zu meistern, doch werden im Verlauf des Spiels immer knackiger bis bockschwer. Dabei wird es aber nie langweilig. Dafür sorgt unter anderem auch der fantastisch gelungene Soundtrack, der diesem Spiel eine etwas mystische Athmosphäre verleiht und sich schon jetzt bei mir als Ohrwurm eingenistet hat :) Grafik und Story sind bei Defy Gravity eher nebensächlich, aber diese Dinge erwarte ich bei einem Puzzlespiel sowieso nicht.

Im Endeffekt kann man mit dem Kauf dieses Spiels keinerlei Fehler machen. Da es ziemlich oft im Angebot ist oder man es sich mit einem Gutschein für ein paar Cent holen kann, kriegt man durch die Sammelkarten fast immer sein Geld zurück.
Außerdem sorgt es für einige Stunden Spielspaß und lässt sich meinerseits wärmstens empfehlen.

Hab mir das Spiel im Angebot gekauft und war positiv überrascht. Es macht Spaß, ist nicht immer leicht und die Musik ist auch stimmig.

hab mir das Spiel für 0,09 € gekauft... Damit ist es das günstigste Game in meiner Sammlung... Und was hab ich dafür bekommen? Sammelkarten in Wert von 0,30 €, Erfolge und ne halbe Nacht nerfenzerfetzende Zocker-Glücksehlichkeit...

Ernsthaft, das game hat mich gefesselt und zum durchzocken gezwungen! und das für 9 cent!

Defy Gravity is a 2D puzzle-platformer revolving around the usage of gravity fields to get from A to B. It's very simplistic, graphics-wise, but conceptually it works just fine. I'm personally not a great fan of a couple things, and this is why I won't generally recommend it: The controls are a bit finicky, at least when playing with keyboard and mouse (haven't tried a gamepad), and the resolution is quite fixed, resulting in a small viewport with a huge black frame on my 4K monitors.

I would place the puzzle difficulty towards the tougher end of the spectrum, but even I was eventually able to solve at least the first half of the game with manageable frustration levels. Overall, however, especially due to the controls, I found continuing too tedious. Nevertheless, if you have more skill (or tolerance for frustration) than me, you might get more out of this game. And either way, for its asking price it's not a lot of money wasted in the worst case if you'd like to give it a try.

An interesting concept, a nice platforming challenge, good music. Worth the miniscule cost when on sale. however, it isn't very polished. In particular, the hitboxes are terrible, making difficult sections ridiculous.

This was actually dope. Improving was satisfying and it's fairly short, doesn't overstay its welcome at all. Solid checkpointing too, only two or three bits that I felt were too long.

Defy Gravity is a simple to play puzzle platformer. You shoot out small gravity wells that either attract or repulse. Any objects/platforms colored yellow will be affected by these but anything else (aside from your character) won't be. You also have a jet pack to help with small jumps.

There's not too much to say about the game. It's decent but there's nothing special about it to warrant your time. You quite often have to use the gravity wells to fling yourself about and they can be finicky to use. It's not that long of a game even with the hard mode version that unlocks upon completing it. Fine if you want a cheap simple time waster but otherwise there's no real reason to get this.

This game pleasantly surprised me. At first I was quite sceptical since I didn't like the graphics too much, but the gameplay was great. Definitely worth the price.

A good game that you can finish in 1-2 hours, unless you are doing the true gauntlet of course which will most likely take you an extra hour and a half because of its grindiness. But apart from that would reccomend

It may look, and kind of feel, like a browser game, but it's a really good browser game. It's a platformer where the main gimmick is that you can use gravity wells to pull yourself and golden objects, and the anti-well to do the opposite. The fact that you have access to both at all times and can have both out at once means you generally have a lot of freedom in navigating the levels.

while i would not say this is a bad game per say it just isn't worth the time spend it in in my opinion, it's a puzzle platformer in which you use your gravity gun to make your way through the game. it has a generic story, which doesn't help in making the game appealing and it fails to mix up the experience which makes it feel like you are doing the same thing over and over again.

Graphics are exactly how they are in the screenshots and the video. Nevertheless, the game is surprisingly fun and challenging; worth even the normal price.

Achievements are just as challenging as the game since you get them all just by playing and completing first the normal mode and then the hard mode. I 100%'d the game in about 8 hours.

Overall a cheap, real nice game with challenging, puzzle-ish maps which the hardmode makes even more challenging. 5/5

This game is just a wonderful 2D Indie platformer. It's completely worth it at full price and even more worth it on sale. It has excellent music as well as I even bothered to buy the soundtrack. Highly recommended. I love all things dealing with space.

Really fun and challenging parkour game with simple mechanics.
Not too hard to be frustrating and not to easy to be boring, perfectly balanced as all things should be
???? I really loved the soundtrack, it made me enjoy the game even more!

The game is short ~2h but you can replay the game in Hard Mode if you want

It's a great game with an interesting design, it's rather short and you could probably finish it in one sitting, but during that one sitting you won't complain that you're bored. Highly recommend, 8/10
