Leider scheint das Spiel nicht auf den ARM Prozessoren der Surface X zu laufen. Eine 64-bit Version gibt es nicht. Schade, dass Steam darauf nicht hinweist. So war der Kauf sinnlos..

Ein Klassiker. Anno 1404 ist mit eines der besten Spiele der Anno Reihe. Der Aufbauspaß im eigenen Inselreich gepaart mit der einen oder anderen Außeinandersetzung mit NPCs macht Spaß und ist Zeitlos. Man hat die Wahl zwischen einem Endlosspiel, in dem man seine Stadt/Inseln stets weiter auf- und ausbaut und einigen Szenarios in denen es bestimmte Missionen zu erledigen gibt. Startet man das Hauptspiel kann man auch die Kampagne spielen, in der einem auch das Spiel erklärt wird.

Sollte man jedoch bereits Anno 1404 + Venedig DLC besitzen und problemlos am laufen haben, lohnt sich der Kauf nicht sonderlich. Im Vergleich zu den alten Versionen wurde nur die Grafik verbessert.

Ein wahrlich grandioses Spiel mit hohem Wiederspielwert. Es macht immer wieder Spaß zu spielen und ist für ein Anno leicht zu erlernen. Die Einstellungen lassen wirklich viele optionale Anpassungsmöglichkeiten und zu dem kann man auch viele Dinge erspielen und sammeln. Durch den Multiplayer macht es auch zwei bis vier mal so viel Vergnügen. Die Kampagne geht sehr lang und die verschiedenen Situation sind schwer zu meistern, sowie das generelle Spiel. Waren, Dienstleistungen, Militärkonflikte und Friedensabkommen sorgen für einen realistischen Ansatz, so mal in einem Anno selbstverständlich auch die Steuern eine riesige Rolle spielen. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen der seine eigene Metropole aufbauen will und sich gerne im Mittelalter verliert.

Wow man kauft es, installiert es, nur um dann eine Ubisoft Connect out of service meldung zu bekommen???

Anno ist eben ein Aufbau Spiel,mit niedlichen Ambiente!Wenn eine kleine Stadt entsteht ,ist es ein fröhliches Gewusel,!ich bin eine leidenschaftliche Black and White Süpielerin gewesen,leider gibt es so ein Spiel nicht mehr!Frage mich was die Schwierigkeit dabei ist ,wenn Charakteren Leben eingehaucht wird!Aber zurück zu Anno 1404,ist ein nettes Aufbau und Strategie Spiel!

Zuerst werde ich gezwungen 15 euro auszugeben fuer ein game was ich bereits hatte weil ich das Venedig DLC
nicht mehr erwerben konnte da ubisoft einfach geizig ist.
Dann moechte ich Multiplayer spielen was aufgrund der schrecklich Synchronisation nicht moeglich ist.
Die HD Texturen merkt man absolut garnicht und es sieht eins zu eins gleich aus wie das original.

Mir gefällt das spiel sehr trotz der teilweise veralteten Grafik. Aber Anno 1404 ist nun mal das einig ware Aufbauspiel im Mittelalter setting.
Ich kann das spiel nur Empfelen. allerdings muss ich Lernen Schneller aufzubauen und in der Lage sein krieg zu führen.

Ja kann ich von abraten, nicht weil das Spiel an sich schlecht ist, sondern weil man es schlicht neu kaufen muss, wenn man mit Freunden spielen will die keine Gold Edition haben. Übernimmt zwar auch alle Einstellungen und Spielstände, aber der Multiplayer läuft nicht zusammen, danke dafür.
Gibt ja auch nicht die Gold Edition mehr, weil sich Ubisoft das so ausgesucht hat.

Die History Edition verbindet endlich alle Vorteile des wunderschönen Anno 1404 und einem 64-bit System, ohne das händisches Patchen notwendig wäre!

Das bedeutet, dass man endlich ungestört Anno auch mit großen und alten Spielständen genießen kann, ohne dass einen die Speicherstandsmeldung nervt und erinnert, dass der RAM bereits wieder voll wäre! Endlich lassen sich MP-Spiele und lange Endlosspiele in aller Ruhe und ohne nervtötendes Neu-Laden genießen.

Das war das Geld auf jeden Fall wert! Insbesondere Freunden, die das Spiel gemeinsam spielen wollen, aber auch jedem, der von den Querelen eines 32-bit Systems genervt war, kann ich diese Erweiterung nur wärmstens ans Herz legen!

Anno 1404 ist ein wirklich interessantes Spiel, da man viele unterschiedliche Strategien ausprobieren kann. Ich zum Beispiel konzentriere mich sehr gerne auf das Wirtschaften, ohne gezwungen zu sein, Kriege zu führen. Das geht hier sehr gut. Auch grafisch ist das Spiel sehr ansprechend.

Anno 1404 ist und bleibt einfach ein Phänomen. Noch nie war es so schön, „Anno“ zu spielen, noch nie war es so fesselnd, noch nie so erwachsen aber gleichzeitig so einfach zu lernen. Hier beweist ein Team, dass Kontinuität beim Entwickeln ein echter Vorteil sein kann. Fast alle Kritikpunkte des Vorgängers wurden beherzigt und bearbeitet: „Anno 1404“ überflügelt seine Vorgänger auf ganzer Linie. Es macht einfach Spaß und gerade der Endlos Modus ist super angenehm zu spielen, es ist einfach schön abseits der Realen hektischen Welt seine eigene kleine Welt zu Planen und bauen, vom kleinen Dorf bis zur großen Stadt mit prachtvollen Gebäuden und Burgen in Anno ist alles möglich. Meine Wertung, von mir gibts 8/10 Punkten, wer auf Aufbau Strategie steht kann bei 1404 bedenkenlos zugreifen.

Hallo,
ich bin seit der ersten Stunde ein ANNO-Fan schreibe selten einen Kommentar bzw. Bewertung, aber diesmal wurde ich genötigt, obgleich ich wirklich gern diese History Edition ausprobiert hätte.
Hier die Kurzform:
Gekauft voller Vorfreude, installiert und dann ..........mischt sich UPLAY ein, ich werde verhaftet und festgenommen ...... searching for Addons...... 5min .......10min.......15min ....deinstalliert und Rückerstattung angefordert.. Ich kann garnicht beschreiben wie genervt , enttäuscht und regelrecht verärgert ich war. Ich hätte mir wirklich gewünscht das man diese Version genauso unkompliziert wie ANNO 1404 spielen kann, ohne dabei seine Zeit und Seele an diesem ver...... UPLAY verkaufen zu müssen. WARUM STEAM?

Die Spielzeit dieser Edition gibt nicht korrekt wieder, was dieses Spiel trotz seines Alters, seiner zahlreichen niemals behobenen Bugs und der absoluten Vernachlässigung, die Ubisoft diesem Spiel hat angedeihen lassen, für mich bedeutet.

Als Anno-Fan der ersten Stunde habe ich bisher alle Teile gespielt - und bereits auf 1602 aus der Perspektive eines geistig normalen Menschen viel zu viel Lebenszeit verwendet. Habe 1602 geliebt, hatte viel Spaß mit 1503 und 1701 - und dann kam 1404.

Im Achievement-System von 1404 erhält man eine Zeitmedaille in Gold, wenn man 500 Stunden Spielzeit ansammelt. Ich habe diese Zeitmedaille über die Jahre dreimal (!) auf verschiedenen Profilen erspielt. Nicht etwa, weil ich gerne sinnlos mehrere Profile gleichzeitig unterhalte, SONDERN WEIL DIESES VERFLUCHTE SPIEL EINEM REGELMÄßIG DIE ONLINE-PROFILE IRREPARABEL ZERSCHOSS UND MAN WIEDER VON VORN ANFANGEN MUSSTE UND DER SUPPORT BEREITS ZU HOCHZEITEN DES SPIELS EIN WITZ WAR!

So, jetzt geht's wieder.

Ja, das Spiel kann einem mehr technische Probleme bereiten als einst Einträge im Telefonbuch standen. Aber es ist trotzdem wunderbar. Die KI sind halbwegs vernünftig ausbalanciert, ihre Persönlichkeiten sind zum Schreien, die Inselwelten haben eine einigermaßen anständige Größe, sind auch heute noch sehr schön anzusehen, die Kampagne macht Spaß und es ist bis heute, auch angesichts des Release von 1800 das beste jemals erstellte Anno.

Habe den Werdegang von 1800 recht aufmerksam verfolgt, damals den 2. Platz des Anno-Geschichtenwettbewerbs in der Anno-Zone gewonnen und natürlich das Spiel als Pre-Order erworben.
Und war für den Aufwand und das Getue im Vorfeld wahnsinnig enttäuscht. Habe nach 20 Stunden kompletter Entnervung über die völlig entstellte KI und das ewige, zeitintensive Wechseln zwischen den zahllosen Karten wieder zu 1404 gewechselt. Über die entsetzlichen futuristischen Teile darf man kein Wort zu viel verlieren.

Diese History-Edition läuft auf meinem Gaming-Notebook besser als alle Versionen, die ich vorher gespielt hatte, heißt sowohl Nicht-Steamversion als auch Steamversion. Anno 1404 ist zeitlos und wird entsprechend auch in Zukunft noch Spaß machen. Diese knappen 10 EUR waren ordentlich investiert.

Ich widme mich nun also meiner vierten goldenen Zeitmedaille. Fragen Sie mich bitte nur nicht, warum genau. Nicht, weil ich das nicht beantworten könnte. Im Imperator-Szenario redet es sich einfach nicht allzu gut.

Es könnte alles so schön sein, das Spiel an sich macht echt Spaß. Leider läuft es auf Windows 10 überhaupt nicht rund, manchmal ist es ein Herumprobieren von 15 Minuten. Entweder startet es gar nicht, hängt sich auf oder diese völlig unnötige App von Ubisoft, die man übrigens installieren muss, friert erstmal ein. Bekommt man das Spiel zum laufen, beseitigt der Fenstermodus zumindest einige weitere Probleme.
Daumen runter, Spielspaß ist was anderes.

Ich kaufe Anno1404 in STEAM und es wird mit UPLAY verknüpft? Was soll das? Warum kann ich ein GEKAUFTES Spiel nicht spielen und warum erhalte ich stattdessen einen Auth-Fehler angezeigt? Habt Ihr einen Azubi an die Updates gelassen????

Allgemein braucht man über die Anno-Serien der Vor-2000er Serie nicht viel zu sagen.
Sehr angenehme Systemstrukturen und Gameplay-Storys. Bei diesen Anno-Spielen
hat man noch immer das Nostalgische Gefühl, welches wiederkommt und genießt die
Stunden Spielzeit wie zu Kindestagen.

Eine durchwegs positive Spiel-Erfahrung.

Wenn Ihr es euch noch überlegt, kann ich nur sagen, holt es euch!
Die paar Euro sind definitiv nicht falsche verwendet. :)

Hallo
Habe das Spiel frisch gekauft und installiert (06.09.2020)

Deutsche Sprache, respektive andere Sprachen, sind problemlos einstellbar. Gehe davon aus, das dass gepatcht wurde, da andere Reviews hier immer beklagen, man könne nur auf Englisch spielen, was aber nicht der Fall ist.

Kurz und Bündig:
- Sehr gut, wie man es von Anno kennt
- Ich persönlich habe keine Abstürze respektive Ruckler, habe aber noch kein Endlos Spiel gespielt mit über 20'000 Bewohnern
- Viele Spielstunden die Spass machen

It's so easy to lose track of time playing this. Setting your own goals and working towards them feels rewarding,is a great way to unwind and never gets old. The last Anno I throughoutly enjoyed was Anno 1601 as a child and this feels just like I remember it, but looks a lot better!

Der SpeicherBUG ist draussen (keine 32-Bit-RAM-Limitierung mehr),
einige Dinge wurden simplifiziert (merkwürdig konform gehaltene Felder),
und im Mehrspielermodus gab' es bisher keine ernsteren Probleme (ein einzelner Spielabsturz, Autosaves funktionieren wie gewollt).
Chic. ;)

Einzig schade das es bis Dato (Stand 27.07.2020) ?noch? keine I.A.A.M. 1404 -MOD für die Anno 1404 History Edition gibt.

Love the game, hate Ubisoft. I bought the game on steam, yet it forces me to use the Ubi launcher with all kinds of problem. Have been in contact with Ubi support for 3 days now and the issue still isn't resolved. Just let me play through the medium i bought it through.

This game scratches so many itches! It's a city builder, an RTS, Logistics management.

If you like Cities Skylines/Sim City AND Dyson Sphere Project/The Settlers (Original through to number 3) AND RTS games in general, then this is the best game to give you all three.

Easily one of the best strategy games one can play these days (don't look at my hours, I've played this game before steam was a thing). If you are interested in city-builders, this is a must play!

Gameplay is exciting, challenging, and you can set your games up according to your wish, alllowing you to play the way you want. For example you can choose if you want other AI players, and what diffculty they should be, as well as choose your own goals (like building monuments, defeating enemies).
The only issue i can think of is land combat, which is quite slow and IMO boring, but that's only a minor part of the game, which can be almost entirely ignored, with the correct settings at game start.

The campaign is decent too, serving as a long tutorial, and giving some background on most of the characters you meet, but you don't have to play it.

It also looks and sounds great, even by 2022 standards.
Bonus points for being afaik bug-free and having a good german translation.

A really good buy if you feel like saving some money over Anno 1800. Despite the original version releasing in 2009 the graphics impressed me on my 1080p monitor on maximum settings.

Bought the game and played for 20 minutes. Then all of a sudden my Ubisoft account was breached/hacked. Had to delete the account and make a new one, only to find out that now my Anno 1404 cannot be played due to it being linked to the previous account. I've played this game for years, having played 1404 for a couple of thousand hours, my favorite thing about it is the multiplayer option. The graphics still stand up very well. This is a complicated game, but very fun. The crafting is complicated, but not onerous. The same can be said for the way you level your empire. There is as much fun in co-op play as there is in competitive for me, this game is great for both.

Its a great game, made by awesome developer but leaded by a greedy publisher aka Ubisoft. If you look for the Experience you got from Anno 1602 and 1503 you get exactly that with plenty of additions.

However, thumbs down because of the necessity of the Ubisoft-Connect Launcher and what comes with it. That simple.

Love the game but hate how you have to be signed into UbiSoft Connect, download their software as well as open up more ports besides steams to play this game.
Because of that I don't play it anymore and deleted all UbiSoft content. I will also make a point of not buying anymore UbiSoft games due to this.

What * !! just happened to that 17 hours? This is a warning. This game is perhaps too good. It's almost a cross between simcity and civilization but realtime. Do not start a game unless you have hours to burn.

Downloads and installs Uplay without asking, Uplay updates itself, then only shows an empty window and the game never starts. If you bundle your crap and try to shove it down my throat against my will, at least make sure your crap actually works, Ubisoft!

Obviously asked for a refund.

Game is great.

Ubisoft sucks balls. Want to play with friend, but UPlay will simply not let him log in. Services down message constantly. Go and pirate the game if you're just playing singleplayer >;)

EDIT: I will concede that Ubisoft's support has been very good in helping out two of my friends get their accounts up n running, and logged in. This doesn't change the fact that shoddy always-online DRM is a cancer to our games. Imagine trying to play the game in the future and Ubisoft's service is just completely down, rendering your game unplayable.

The game requires you to have Uplay and a Ubisoft account which is annoying.

Other than that, really, really excellent game. One of the best and most unique RTS's I've ever played. If you can get over the above point then I highly recommend.

Looks good, plays well. I couldn't find a decent tutorial after starting three different game modes so I feel a little lost at sea (pun intended), but it's been fun to learn. Lack of hand-holding in video games in 2021 is kind of a non-issue because you can just perform a cursory internet search which suffices as a tutorial if a game doesn't have one or if the tutorial is bad. You can easily lose hours playing this game. I recommend buying it. It's half-off right now and definitely worth it but it's only a $15 game to begin with, which I'd say is a steal for such a fun game.

This piece of garbage comes with Ubisoft's Uplay software. Uplay asks me to login to play the game THAT I BOUGHT THROUGH STEAM! and has the audacity to tell me there was a problem with my account and to f*** off. So now I'm out $15 and still can't play the game. F you Ubisoft you piece of crap company.

Well -it's Anno 1404 made suitable for current software. One of the greatest titles in the series.
But alas, it comes with YET ANOTHER launcher, ye olde Uplay. And the map editor also comes with a sneaky watering down. You cant place the Venice island when you build a map. The custom maps were probably the biggest reason for me to keep coming back to this game. So why they had to do this, is beyond me.
If you have the original 1404 or dawn of discovery, stick to it. You gain nothing by buying this version - in fact it comes with the two irritations as mentioned above. Owning the old version and this version - the old version is more practical to play.
Looks like remakes / touch ups these days are getting it up the rear end (looking at you too Warcraft 3).

This game was the first Anno game I ever played. Its very addictive city building game. This game have simple mechanics but hard to master gameplay. I recommend playing vanilla Anno 1404 campaign first before free playing. Also another tip if you want to play this game without thinking of money, search for how to do money cheat with programs like Cheat Engine or ArtMoney.(Dont try to cheat in multiplayer!) Also there are very good layout and production chain recommendations in anno1404 wiki check it out.

The game itself is fine. A tip for new players. To play the campaign play the game without add ons, by launching it from the steam app and clicking play, otherwise you will just be thrown in the deep end.

If you want to play the game with friends, this version of Anno 1404 makes it a lot easier to set up and get it working. However if you want the game for singleplayer only, it´s not worth upgrading from the original version as the changes are pretty minimal at best. I would give it a neutral recommendation if possible as it really depends on what you want out of the game.

Very nice Ubisoft/Steam: Patching a game giving it a different name on steam and pulling the old one off. Well how greedy can you be? They even took the original German language off the game to make a few more bucks...but the game is really good :)

Its an awesome game, i really liked it.

all the more sad that Ubisoft support will completely screw you over if you purchased the game through steam and refuse to help you once their Ubisoft Connect feature starts to fail and give you a message that the authentication of the game couldent be validated, they claim its because I logged into a wrong Ubisoft account that differs from the one linked with my Steam... strange since the game ran fine for 2 weeks and Ive changed nothing and I do not have any other accounts to either Steam or Ubisoft Connect, they vere created for that game alone.

To this day, still no sollution has been given, and frankly I find Ubisoft support rude, unhelpfull and a tad arrogant, once you acctually manage to get a responce from them.

Does what it says on the tin, its Anno 1404 but runs gloriously on modern systems. Still the same addictive, charming and surprisingly challenging game it was in years gone by. In 2021 Guy Forcas is still a snivelling coward and Richard Northburgh is still low-key negging you all the time. Worth it.

Where was this game all my life? I have been playing city building and empire games since I first sat down to Civilization on the Super Nintendo. I was never exposed to Anno until now. I can't put this game down. It scratches an itch that I didn't know I had. The incredible music, graphics, and mechanics are amazing. The city building and trade management and production lines are amazing. The battles are unique and the ships are beautiful. Yes, I dear say, I will probably have 500 hours dumped into this game before I put it down for a little bit. Don't buy it unless you are ready to share a piece of your life with it.

A wonderful classic that delivers exactly the same gameplay as the original using a new, more robust technical hull. No more, no less. Now as of patch 1.3, the game finally works well and the lategame crashes seem to have been fully eliminated. Supports 64-bit and runs better under DirectX 10 than the original.

I have found this revised version of Anno 1404 a lot of fun and a really good way to relax.
The soundtrack is beautiful and the graphics are so much better than the original games, which i both own.
The added Multiplayer does work well, but after a few hours of gameplay, there is a current bug that causes your game to become unsynced. i really hope the devs find a fix for it.
Singleplayer scenarios will keep you busy many hours as you can either play a continuous scenario or a campaign scenario. Campaign scenarios have certain targets you need to complete. Continuous scenarios are a little different, as you can edit the scenario by changing settings that either raise or lower the difficulty of the scenario.
Lots of strategy to learn where building is concerned and managing tax rates so you can support your colony. The map is made of islands which have pre allocated resources and a ? means you can allocate a seed to plant on that island by buying it from the relevant NPC.
I have 50 hours of gameplay so far, mostly multiplayer and look forward to many more.

The Classic City/Nation Building Game with lots and lots of fun. A bit steep learning curve, but for what its worth, really good investment.
Problem is, game so buggy after 3-4 hours, you can not even experience the full content of the game due to crashing and continuous memory run out.
Even with the unofficial patch, the engine.ini tinkering, etc, the game is still buggy.
Just buy Anno 1800 if your budget allows, else, this is the second best anno game.

First of all, you should know that you can skip meals such as breakfast, dinner, etc. You had started the game at 6 pm and when you remember to break, the watch could show 3 am. The music, graphics are the one of the best Anno series. About the gameplay; i think it is very good to make fast or slow gameplaying. There could publish some patches for adding more ships or decorations in game.

The game is very enjoyable. When you reach the high settlements, degree of difficulty could be getting harder for the control of your city. This makes the game more enjoyable.
Anno 2070, 2205 etc is not good after 1404. I love to play historical era. I think, the best anno is 1404 then my first game 1602 for my heart (include game music and gameplay). I have not been playing 1800. Gameplay, story and graphics of 1404 are better than 2070 and 2205 :D

I've only played this game and Anno 1800 from the Anno series and I loved both of them. Some features from Anno 1800 are missed but the land combat is a nice bit of strategy to consider. Its a really nice game that will make you spend endless hours in it.

...First had to make an Ubisoft acct, it kept telling me I had one (maybe I did 30 yrs ago??) had to create a second account. tried to launch game, opening vid was extremely jerky and finally froze up....I had spinning hourglass of death on screen. The game never opened...just the opening video. Disappointed since I have played this game in past.

Very mixed experience overall but ultimately a negative one for Anno 1404. There are some nice elements in the gameplay and design, but I spent too much time replaying the same steps in Continuous Game mode, and generally annoyed with the interfaces (or lack there of) and / or having to game around things outside my span of control. In the end it's not as much fun as Caesar III or Banished.
