Summer is finally here! The sun is blazing bright over the Sea of Thieves, which means it’s time to bid a fond farewell to the darling buds of May – but not before we’ve gotten you up to speed on everything you might have missed. So settle down on your favourite pirate beach and lose yourself for a while in this latest round-up…
Content Update
The seas were teeming with activity throughout May, from the very first day when we kicked things off with [url="https://www.seaofthieves.com/release-notes/3.3.2.1"]a hotfix[/url] for some of the additions in late April. From there it was straight into the latest [url="https://x.com/SeaOfThieves/status/1918244130225885532"]Festival of Fishing[/url] Event, celebrating the recent expansion of The Hunter’s Call and setting up some tasty rewards to be reeled in along the way!
All of which left us in a great position to unleash [url="https://www.seaofthieves.com/news/season-16-launch"]Season 16[/url] a few days later, revolving around the Reapers and all that they and their master Flameheart have [url="https://www.seaofthieves.com/release-notes/3.4.0"]been working towards[/url] since his resurrection. The Reaper’s Bones revealed their very first Voyage, while the devastating portable [url="https://www.tiktok.com/@seaofthieves_game/video/7507676913863822614"]Cannon of Rage[/url] started appearing on island shores. At the same time, the seas welcomed in a [url="https://x.com/SeaOfThieves/status/1925555267711717832"]new wave of players[/url] from [url="https://Battle.net®"]Battle.net®[/url] with a [url="https://x.com/SeaOfThieves/status/1925555272975634833"]unique set of sails[/url] offered for free to anyone who sets sail this Season!

It was a big month for book lovers too: in celebration of a new Reaper-themed Season, [i]Sea of Thieves[/i] novel [i][url="https://x.com/SeaOfThieves/status/1927399672471019787"]Heart of Fire[/url][/i] was temporarily available for free from all of the places you can expect to find ebooks, while artistic souls were well served by the arrival of [i][url="https://www.seaofthieves.com/news/presenting-the-art-of-piracy"]Sea of Thieves: The Art of Piracy[/url][/i]! The second art book we’ve released, this tome [url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEyRd1o_FZc"]highlights more work[/url] from the phenomenal artists who’ve helped to craft the visual style of our shared pirate paradise.

With The Reaper’s Bones preparing to make their move in Season 16, we wanted to ensure everyone had a chance to get up to speed on the story so far. To that end, some of the Rare crew gathered in the Tavern for a special [url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbMmIzJZB6k"]lore-centric podcast[/url], while [i]Sea of Thieves[/i] Partner Captain Falcore relayed the [url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH0BT7uma9M"]history of Captain Flameheart[/url]. And, while we were all in the Reaper spirit, we just couldn’t wait to release the ominous music behind the [url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcWVE6Eu2q0"]Season 16 title screen[/url], [url="https://seaofthieves.ffm.to/reapersrequiem-originalgamesoundtrack"]‘Reaper’s Requiem’[/url].

May was no slouch in the community competition department, with not only a new [url="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJUEXZuMMHX/?img_index=1"]Community Hub[/url] update and a #SoTShot round on [url="https://x.com/SeaOfThieves/status/1923485323113173017"]Wild Things[/url], but the Season 15 [url="https://www.seaofthieves.com/news/style-of-thieves-season15"]Style of Thieves[/url] contest that sashayed in just before the Season ended. Fashion-focused pirates could strut their stuff in the categories of [url="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ7DAzxoZj0/?img_index=1"]Hunter[/url], [url="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ7DKG1IW5d/?img_index=1"]Duvet Day[/url], [url="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ7DY44Ivjt/?img_index=1"]Regal[/url] and [url="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ7Di_hIews/?img_index=1"]Monstrous[/url], with the winning ensembles well deserving of a hearty round of applause.
