Community Servers Are Here: Host Your Own Shatterline PvP
You’ve been asking us one thing again and again: [b]“Can we have PvP back in some form?”[/b] Today we finally have something for you:
???? Shatterline Dedicated Server is now available on Steam
You can now host your own [b]community servers[/b] for Shatterline. This means:
Any player can download the [b]Shatterline Dedicated Server[/b] app on Steam
Set it up on their own hardware (home PC, rented server, etc.)
Run custom PvP servers for friends, communities, or the public
There are [b]no official, centrally hosted PvP servers[/b] anymore – but now [i]you[/i] can bring parts of that experience back on your own terms.
How to Get the Dedicated Server
Open [b]Steam[/b] Search for: [b]"Shatterline Dedicated Server" [/b] Install it like a regular app (it appears under [i]Tools[/i] in your library)
Follow the configuration steps from this [url="https://www.shatterline.gg/documents/2/DedicatedServer_Manual.pdf"]guide[/url].
What Community Servers Can (and Can’t) Do
[b]Community servers CAN:[/b]
Host PvP matches on existing Shatterline maps and modes
Be configured by the host (rotation, player limits, etc. – depending on your config)
Be private (friends/clan only) or public, if you choose
[b]Community servers CANNOT:[/b]
Replace the old official matchmaking / progression systems
Guarantee performance or uptime – it fully depends on the host
Offer official ranked/competitive play
This is a more “old school” style of multiplayer: [b]You own the server, you make the rules, you are responsible for stability and moderation[/b].
Manual Setup & Who This Is For
We want to be transparent: [b]this is a manual / advanced feature[/b]. Running a dedicated server may require:
Python installed
Basic understanding of port forwarding and firewalls
Editing config files
If this sounds scary – don’t worry. The idea is that [b]community leaders, clans, and tech-savvy players[/b] will set up servers, and everyone else can just [b]join and play[/b]. We’ll keep improving documentation and examples based on your feedback.
