Bei Majesty 2 handelt es sich einfach gesagt um einen Fantasy Simulator. Als König bekommen wir nicht nur einen Berater mit schrecklicher Stimme an die Seite, nein, auch einen Haufen Gilden, bei denen sich jeder RPG-Spieler wie zu Hause fühlt. Steuern darf man die Mitglieder aber nicht. Einmal angeheuert, strohmern die Helden in der Stadt umher, erschlagen Monster in der Stadt und sind nur dann zu etwas nutze, wenn man ihnen Kohle rüberschiebt. Diese verdient man entweder durch die Einnahme von Steuern oder durch Läden wie Schmieden usw.. Soweit klingt das System simpel und einfach. Doch die Programmierer dachten sich wohl, dass es doch langweilig wäre wenn es so bleiben würde. So haben sie den Schwierigkeitsgrad so verworren angesetzt, dass einige Level geradezu lächerlich einfach, andere praktisch unschaffbar sind. Ich persönlich versuche seit ich das Spiel habe König Ratte, einen der Bosse, niederzustrecken. Das Problem, kaum 10-15 Sekunden nach Levelstart greift König Ratte an. Er ist gar nicht so das Problem, aber bringt eine Unzahl an Ratten mit sich. Die Stadtwache, so eine Art Grundverteidiger, kommen nicht mal mit einer Ratte klar. Verteidigunstürme brauchen, wie fast alle Gebäude, unmengen an Zeit um gebaut zu werden und zu allem überfluss greifen die Ratten die Arbeiter unentwegt an. Selbst bei den Let´s Plays auf Youtube, gilt dieses Level als nur mit Glück zu gewinnen und die gezeigten Strategien sind auch keine Garantie auf den Sieg. Daher gibt es von mir keine Kaufempfehlung. Eine gute Idee so umzusetzen, dass es einem die Motivation so verhagelt, ist einfach nicht zu ertragen.

Geniales Strategiespiel mit eigenwilligen Charakteren / Helden, welche sich nur indirekt steuern lassen und sich ihren eigenen Interessen widmen. Jede Situation läuft anders ab (z.B. auch nach dem Laden eines gespeicherten Spielstandes).
Leider nimmt der Schwierigkeitsgrad sehr starkt zu, wodurch manche Level kaum zu schaffen sind. Wegen der hohen Schwierigkeit ziehe ich 2 Punkte ab und gebe hier 8 von 10 Punkten

Ein gewisses Problem ist das die Gegner üblicherweise von Anfang an hohe Stärke haben und keine großartige Steigerung mehr erfahren (dafür ist der Anfang halt üblicherweise am kritischten) und die Tempelplatzierung recht abenteuerlich ist.

Aber das gleicht das sehr innovative Spielprinzip absolut aus (gibt es noch mehr mit einem ähnlichen System hab bisher keine gesehen -.-), Helden erst einmal mit Gold bestechen zu müssen auch außerhalb des direkten Umfeldes ihrer Gilde etwas zu tun ist stellenweise echt lustig und man sollte die Spielgeschwindigkeit ab und zu mal runterstellen um die verteidigungsflaggen stellen zu können^^

Schon für das einmalige Spielsystem mal einen Blick wert.

Zuerst mal die Zusammenfassung: Der 1. Teil war ein wunderschönes Spiel, aber das hier ist das Worst Case Szenario was sie daraus machen konnten, der BER der Softwaretechnik... Also mal los:

Grafik/Sound: Fange ich mit dem guten an. Auch wenn das Spiel schon etwas auf dem Buckel hat, die Schicken Texturen und guten Modelle sehen sogar gut aus. Vorausgesetzt man hat Zeit sich das anzusehen...

Steuerung: Ist ganz Okay. Die wenigen Keybindings die es gibt (oder die fehlende Ausschilderung) führen dazu dass man ohne ende rumklickt, es bleibt aber von dieser Seite recht spielbar, allerdings bräuchte man hier Keybindings um das Gesammtpacket gut spielen zu können.

Strategy Design: Totales Fiasko! Dieses Spiel ist so schlecht gebaut, dass es einfach nicht geht. Theoretisch ein schönes Spiel aber man kommt nicht zum spielen, aufgrund dessen dass du eh Pausenlos von ner anderen Seite angegriffen wirst und eventuelle Bossgegner dir ohne Punkt und Komma bei jedem Auftauchen die halbe Basis zerlegen und wieder abdampfen (Beginnend meist ca 30 Sek nach Levelbeginn). Dieses Spiel ist durch die Art und weise des Level und Gegnerdesigns absolut unspielbar und nur was für Leute die auf Hardcore Strategie stehen oder sich Pausenlos ärgern wollen.

Fazit: Bloß nicht kaufen, total unspielbar. Wen es interessiert empfehle ich den alten 1. Teil, aber dieses Spiel ist das schlimmste vom schlimmsten.

Overall it's a fun game, but not as enjoyable as the first. Heroes seem to lack the autonomy they did in the original, and won't take any action without a reward flag. Mission objectives in the base game are a bit lacking and generally boil down to do a bit of prep work then fight a creature with a load of health.
Additionally, there are seemingly a number of technical issues, particularly with the Monster Kingdom DLC (several missions would cause the game to crash, which I was able to force through either by restarting or saving every few minutes. This worked until the penultimate mission where it would crash before my heroes could engage the final objective, forcing me to leave the game unfinished.) If it weren't for the crashes this would be an acceptable sequel, it is fun enough for what it is, but I would steer clear in the meantime.

Recommend the game: 59%

While the game is fun and have nice graphics, nice music, the negative reviews are right about the difficulty.
In later missions enemies attack very soon in packs and you don't have time to build defenses.
Despite the fact that you could win the missions after many trials, the game turns from very fun to extremely annoying.

To have the intended build speed ( and not slower ) you must cap fps from graphic driver to 60 fps or enable vSync.

You put down some buildings and let the heroes do the real work. What's not to like! These little death magnets need a lot of work to function so good luck with keeping them out of trouble long enough to become useful.

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!

This was a great game a few years ago BUT NOW it does not work how it was suposed too and by that I mean IF you have new PC the game's pacing is based on frames and the better your PC the more frames you have so the monsters spawn faster and faster and are stronger quicker than the game intended.

THIS GAME will work great on older PCs but on new PCs the game will spawn 20+ monsters to wipe you out before you even finish building first 4 building and hiring first 4 heroes. Also the game crashed 3 times during 12 hours I did play.

The game was fun when it came out, and played on systems it was designed for. And really, all the fun parts are because the core ideas designed in majesty 1 were fun, I'm not sure the sequel makers deserve much praise.

Now it's an unsupported game that takes a lot of extra downloads and patching on your part. The difficulty everyone is talking about is from the fact the game's pacing is based on frames. So newer systems alter the game in unintended ways, i.e more enemies, too fast. It can be duct taped and jerry-rigged to a point it's playable - but do you really want to pay money to do a bunch of maintenance on an old game? I mean of course you do, look at the garbage that people buy on steam.

If there were any kind of quality control on digital game platforms, this wouldn't be up because it's only marginally functional thanks to one dude writing a bunch of unofficial patches.

This is not Majesty 2, this is some generic Fantasy RTS that's gets more broken the farther into it you get.

Get Majesty: Gold HD instead. It's balanced, it's well made, it's narrator is voiced by the MFing guy from Braveheart, and has so much charm you'd blush asking it out on a date. Majesty 2 is it's ugly step cousin that people tell you has personality, but we all know her personality is just that she's needy and ugly.

Ah Majesty 2.
This will forever be a memorable game to me.
Don't let the cute art style and the smooth Sean Connery adviser fool you.
THIS GAME IS &*%^& hard.
Like seriously, I replayed so many missions with this game just to get to the next jaw gnashing one.

and here I am hoping for a third installment of the franchise. Well Evil Genius 2 is happening right ?
So if your looking for a nice survival RTS then consider this.
Just beware the difficulty spikes and bugs(I only encountered a few when I played it.)

Game is fun however, due to some rebalancing done for the DLC the original campaign now has several unwinnable levels cutting the original campaign in half. The main one is Royal Feat in which it is nearly impossible to have a single building complete before you have 13 enemies caving in your face. Even if you manage to get a single guild up you have at most three lvl 1 heros against a horde of lvl 5 serpents and minotaurs which they will run away from instantly and die shortly after.

I've been playing this game for years. It's fun and had amazing potential. Only it's too hard in the higher levels. The opponents become overwhelming too quickly and the heroes are too weak to go on the offensive. Poor balance overall.

Get Majesty Gold instead.

Long version:
They have somehow managed to both speed up and slow down the gameplay at the same time. Specifically, enemy attacks and difficulty have been ramped up, whereas your buildings take forever to build, especially with hordes of enemies mobbing your peasants before you can construct a single building. So you have to use the speed-up function when building stuff or it's boring as hell, but you're going to be mobbed and killed anyway once you leave the basic quests, so you're just accelerating your doom. Also, they removed my favorite feature from the original: the ability to continue playing after beating a quest, renaming each and every hero with love aforethought and building the mightiest map-spanning empire ever.

Really, I just wanted the first game again with better graphics. But you know what? The graphics don't make up for the absurd difficulty increase. You're constantly doomed by factors beyond your control and that just isn't fun for me. So go get the first game and play that; I dug out my old disk and apart from some tolerable UI foibles, it's just as fun as I remember. And it's now available right on Steam.

Sub note: I thought, if I could find some cheats to deal with the difficulty I might still make it through, but there aren't any simple cheats. Bluh.

Loved the original Majesty, unique and fun. Magesty 2 lacks something that i can't quite point out, but it's still good. It feels like the developers didn't put any effort into DLC's though and i can't recommend playing them.

I absolutely loved first Majesty. The second one has a nice graphic upgrade, some new features like party gathering, and some difficulty tweaking issues. DLCs are good too. Recommended, and all my support to developers, and I hope they create Majesty 3 (and Warlock 3).

Nice concept but design of missions is absolutely pathetic. If I have to restart mission 40 times to find a combination that lets me BUILD ONE BUILDING bacause the I'm being attacked before single building is finished that is some straight retarded design.

Unfortunately can't recommend....Apparently there is a bug, that makes it so that the time triggers, for some events, start too soon. In several missions( the rat and dragon one's), you get swarmed by countless enemies, even before you finish a single building. There is difficult, and then there is simply unwinnable.

the difficulty level of Majesty 2 Collection in STEAM was set at heroic. That means, you will not enjoy playing the game in STEAM. Players are not allowed to change the difficulty level. Very disappointing. Hope STEAM look into it and request to amend the situation. Thank you.

This game offers a very interesting gameplay by removing all controls on your units, allowing you only to incitate your heroes in doing smth by offering money.
The problem with such system is the AI must be great. Which is not the case.
One of the most annoying thing is the heroes not giving a sheet about their own home being destroyed.
But the biggest issue is your lack of control on the paysans themselves ! They're not heroes they're paysans. They're supposed to obey you. They don't. Better they will prioritize building put by the game at the other side of the map over your own needing to be built / upragued / repaired... Even by making a ton of money you'll lose because your paysans are too dumb to understand what is important to build first.
This is a huge flaw which considerably decrease the pleasure in this game.

Great game with unique mechanics which namely involves recruiting heroes that can be enticed with monetary rewards to explore a certain area, loot certain treasure chests or fight specific monsters, etc. Different heroes also have different dispositions and some thus naturally prefer to fight, whilst others prefer to explore or collect loot, although if the reward is great enough any obstacle can be overcome. I would say that this is a game that is best played for the experience and story. I am still not quite sure how well this game lends itself to the highest difficulty levels though as its unique mechanics might also be an obstacle to it. Sure, there is most certainly challenge at those difficulty levels and for some games it is a good thing and for others it is a bad thing. All in all I think it lends itself best just for the experience and not so much for any excessive difficulty level. There is after all still quite a bit of randomness with heroes who cannot be controlled directly (which at the same time makes it interesting). It remains a paradox, but in spite of that it is a really good game.
