Features:
  • Umfangreiche Kampagne mit 15 Missionen
  • Verschiedene Wirtschaftssektoren: Tourismus, Ölindustrie, Bergbau, Landwirtschaft, etc.

P.S. Schon bei Tropico 4 zugeschlagen :-D

Tropico 3 is a bit like a city-building game, but with a major difference. Most city builders feel like toys where you've been given an environment to put your toys together and build a nice city and occasionally something happens that sets you back by five minutes of game time (an Earthquake might kill a few people, big deal).

Tropico 3 really is an actual game with actual challenges that have real consequences and need to be overcome.

There are about fifteen scenarios that you can play through where each scenario starts you off on a different island with different resources available and you are given a goal to achieve and a time limit.

In truth, the game is not proving to be very difficult and the scenarios are fairly similar in that you will almost always be trying to set up your economy first, whilst fulfilling enough of your civilians needs to stop them revolting or becoming rebels or starving to death. Once you are earning good money and have good infrastructure pretty much everything else becomes easy.

There are between 10 and 15 scenarios in the game (I think - I have played through 9 I think) and there is a forever mode too, but I have not tried that yet. When I have finished the scenarios I will try it, then play the expansion Absolute Power and then probably try Tropico 4. I really like this compared to the toys city-builders like Surviving Mars and Cities: Skylines.

There are no Steam achievements for this game.

Your economic and geographic choices matter a lot. So does your patience! Find a strategy to get cash flowing early in each scenario and then keep your peoples happy until you achieve the goals -- it's a balancing act that's fun and engaging.

This game is awesome! I'd honestly skip Tropico 1 and 2 and go straight to this - it's where the modern series really started. Hearing the game's soundtrack blaring with Juanito chipping in every now and again is great! This game also had the El Presidente speeches (whilst yeah they get samey after a while) really added to the game, especially as it rewards you for sticking to your election promises.

The game has a really interesting campaign and considering how much is in the game it does do a good job of stretching the various industries and factions. Obviously don't expect all the chaos and craziness of Tropico 4, 5 and 6 here though! You can easily get 20 hours out of the campaign (I was playing with the DLC for half of the campaign so that's why my playtime is low) and that's before you've even touched sandbox mode!

Tropico 4 basically built on this game in every way, so is probably better value wise, but if you want some nostalgia and to go back to where the modern games in the series started I'd recommend revisiting Tropico 3

I got the game from someone who shared their extra code on the Tropico 3 Steam Discussion forum and I am very excited about it. This is a game which brings back a lot of memories and nostalgia. Got into the series in the early 2000s as a kid and recently borrowed it from a friend's Steam library. If you've played the first 2 games of the series you might find Tropico 3 easier. Other than that no major changes were made. The game has aged well, I haven't experienced any crashes or major bugs. If you are into construction/simulation/management video games, Tropico 3 is a good choice for you. The good graphics, friendly gameplay and nice music are the perfect ingredients which will steal many hours of your time.

I've played Tropico 2, 3, and 5. 3 is my favorite. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who likes city building. I like that it's more than traffic management game in which the travel destinations are randomly selected. In Tropico 3, each citizen has their own life, so build your city to make sense. Keep the citizens from having to walk across the island for church, entertainment, or medical care. Or, make them, and maintain a strong military.

A budget city builder that I have grown to love. There is more strategy involved with this game. Instead of adding more police stations just change policing policy. Are the people unhappy? Use instigators to draw them out and have them arrested. As far as a city builder management game Tropico is less simulation and more arcade like. You can have humorous fun while solving problems. There is always more than one way to accomplish something. Unlike other city builders where there is a right way and a wrong way. tropico embraces minor mistakes rather than punish them. It makes light of them and allows you to move on while learning and laughing. If you are looking for a little more whimsy to your city building simulations Tropico is worth trying.

Man, isn't that a great game. I must say its kind of cynical sense of humour, is not entirely my cup of tea, but the game is so coherent and confident with what it does it drew me into its world and I do not regret for it was a great ride. The different elements which you have to prioritise developing the city and the decisions you have to make create a very satisfying system to interact with. I enjoyed doing some roleplaying acting like different types of a leader in different playthroughs, which was an interesting experience. The unceasing energy of Penultimo and his infathomable jokes are absolutely legendary combined with the great sample of music with local feel, it creates a perfectly laid-back atmosphere. (with little previous exposure to latin-american culture, a lot of random music from south America now makes me think about Tropico 3)

The game doesn't work! The game keeps asking for the key & upon entering the key it just says that the key is wrong. And this game just gets stuck at this activation point.
Buy the newer Tropico games, they are good & have active support, unlike this one.

I own all the Tropico games and I enjoy them all.I would pick Tropico 3 as the most fun of them all.It is not as challenging as Tropico 2 but that is not the kind of challenge I'm into so I didn't mind. The original and it's expansion are classics but I prefer #3

Tropico #3

Pros-

#1.Good Graphics

#2.Many Buildings to build

#3.Custom El Presidente

#4.Rebels will fight you if you don't please your people

#5.Some good music

#6.The radio guy can be helpful and funny

Cons-

#1.Building buildings gets old

#2.The roads are too big

#3.You can't make roads anywhere on the map.You would think you could get a bulldozer or dynamite and have enough slaves I mean your people lol to lower/raise/flatten any land you want. Not being able to connect all the roads sucks

#4.It is really easy to beat the rebels once you learn how to play

#5.One of the songs in the game I don't like it and they don't allow us to control what song is played.I just mute the music for a few minutes and then turn it back on.They could of added more songs also

#6.The radio guy gets really repetitive and I'm sure some can't stand him.I can tolerate him for awhile but I get sick of him too

#7.The maps are so small and it makes putting the tourists buildings in a area they can all fit and is allowed a serious problem. You can't place the buildings anywhere or less people will go to them.It would be like telling you to stay at a hotel in the ghetto part of the island. Some tourists just wont do it.That is realistic but the maps are so small. If they fix this the roads can remain big

#8.The majority of edits you never ever use.A few are good but most of them there is no reason to do them

#9.USA and USSR will circle your waters if you don't do something better. You will just lose if you don't fix it.If I am going to lose come on my island and shoot it out with me and my soldiers then

#10.I don't think the cops do anything.I saw they drive around and arrest people when you tell them to.I don't know if it lowers crime rates but if you are playing to help your people you wont need cops

#11.Prisons are even less needed.Unless you are going to act evil you wont need a prison for sure.I never saw a cop arrest anyone unless I told them to

The Bottom Line -

Tropico 3 is a fun game that will let you create your own city.I found the rebels first attack on me to be a wtf moment. It was funny and cool.I would also call that realistic.Once I got the hang of it I could make my people happy and defend myself and make plenty of money

I played as an evil El Presidente and it was ok but I could kill anyone that wasn't related to the military or cops/prison officers and get away with it.The rebels couldn't beat me because I treated the military so much better than everyone else and I always had an army.I never killed the wives of my soldiers and I wonder what happens then.I doubt it would of mattered I could just replace them.I found it less fun to act evil because they can't beat you once you have the military setup the right way

Once you are making good money the game gets really boring.I would of liked it had I been able to make a full military.Have buildings create Tanks,Fighter Jets ect and prepare for war. Then after that conquer another island or be invaded by a country that was a more even fight.I don't mean fight the USA or USSR but a similar country. It would of made a multiplayer game really fun

Tropico 4 could have 2 settings

#1 Financial

All it is about is building and money and they remove the rebels. This is great for kids and people who don't even like the rebels killing you or you killing them

#2 Financial and War

You have the same buildings as #1 but also weapons buildings and navy/air force/army/marines related buildings. The rebels would be there but the rebels would create and/or even take over your buildings.Make them tougher with more tactics.Plus the objective of the game is to stay in control of your own island which would be harder and then take over other islands. Then you got the multiplayer version

This would create not only a better game but it would appeal to more people.I hope Tropico 4 looks something like this as I have not played it yet but if it doesn't I hope Tropico 5 does.

My 2 cents

Dan
