In Seven: The Days Long Gone spielst du als Teriel.

I wish I could give a proper review of the game itself, however the crashing within a minute of running it constantly has prevented me from even getting past the intro cutscene. After several attempts and seeing this is an ongoing issue for months with no solution I can't see any hope of this being fixed.

+ adventure - it's weird but the way the main questline pulls your through locations and (almost) never going back felt unique
+ quests are rarely local - they often force you to go to completely different places in the world
+ verticality - best feature for most of the game, especially stealth sections (but try finding anything marked on your map in the actual city...)
+ both stealth and combat are viable in most situations - I suggest switching from one to another (game seems designed for this approach)
+ nice, clean, responsive options menu

+/- open world - there is a lot of side content to do, but like in most recent open world games often feels like busywork. I decided early on to not do most of the sidequests and am happy for it
+/- story and lore are good, but but not great
+/- it is an rpg, with (pretty basic) equipment, usable items, acquired abilities (with upgrades), but with no experience points or levels

- sometimes bugged dialogues and decision trees
- crafting was pointless, but can be ignored
- lack of memorable characters

A lovely isometric stealth action RPG with a lot of heart and strong emphasis on vertical level design.

Very reminiscent of Gothic series games as both feature the same premise and gameplay loops. Gets bogged down by underdeveloped or weirdly designed systems (skill system, crafting) and the typical low budget gotchas (animations, bugs, etc).

Overall, enjoyable experience.

Let's start with the good. Large, open world and lots of ways to get into and out of trouble. Lots of things to do and easy to come across weapons, money, consumables and skill upgrades. Interesting setting, world design and (from what I've seen of it) story.

The bad? Well, expect to die a lot. And I do mean a lot. Mostly from falling. The game is all about jumping from one high ledge to the next, and as your character is a tiny thing balancing on a tiny ledge and you can't see what's above you (literally, it's transparent) you will plummet to your death 9 times out of 10. Basically, it's like Dark Souls except with jumping. Fighting is relatively easy most of the time, which is good because you won't find much in the way of armor and you'll find weapons pretty early on that you're going to stick with for most of the game. This, however, is a trap. When the time comes, you will find that whatever weapon you've chosen is inadequate. When you do get into a fight, don't do so near a ledge, because just as well as hitting your enemy, your character will happily bump him off that ledge and then (you guessed it) fall off it as well.

After the tutorial, the game starts you out with a quest, but it has no way of telling you when you're ready to actually pursue that quest, or any of the side quests for that matter. Why is this important? Because at one point, the game will disable quicksave, start a sequence of cutscenes and then literally drop you into a fight which, if you're not ready for it (say, you've been using stealth and taking on enemies one at a time) then you don't stand a chance. Want to try it with a different loadout or skill? Then you have to load the last savegame and go through the sequence of cutscenes again. After about 100 attempts I gave up and uninstalled the game.

????Introduction

Seven: Enhanced Edition is an open-world stealth RPG game that leaves a lot to be desired from. Although there are some highlights here and there such as the vast and rich open-world to explore, the game is mostly riddled in annoying and unnecessary mechanics that either feel underdeveloped (the combat) or just not needed at all (the crafting system). This game could've been so much more, but it never seemed to reach its full potential.

✔️Pros

• Large open-world has a lot of interesting buildings and wrecked structures to explore
• Sneaking around hostile areas is enjoyable
• Loads of side quests that offer short and rich stories
• Teriel has a sense of personality and humour that I found entertaining

❌Cons

• Crafting system felt needlessly tacked onto the game
• Bosses felt out of place and poorly designed
• Some environments feel too cluttered and make it annoying to explore and traverse the world along with the isometric camera you can't move
• AI both get caught in terrain frequently and are generally dumb
• Being detected by guards feels like there's barely any consequence
• Lack of balancing with some of the skills makes combat stupidly easy
• Sometimes skills just don’t work how they are supposed to
• Quicksaves are annoyingly uncommon, and when they do happen automatically, they happen at inconvenient times
• Frame rate isn’t always at a constant 60fps, dips down a lot throughout the game
• A small amount of persistent and annoying bugs

????In-Depth Analysis

A True Open-World

The extensive and rich open-world of Peh is a considerable one to explore, filled with wrecked buildings, hostile camp sights and interesting structures. If you can reach it, then you can probably climb it. Even though the movement isn’t as fluent as it could be, it’s still enjoyable to traverse massive buildings and find new loot. You’ll come across dozens of crafting schematics and skill upgrades scattered across the world, which further incentives you to go off the beaten trail and explore rather than focus on side quests. However, it can be problematic sometimes since the game is in an isometric view. This can lead to difficulty navigating taller structures with multiple floors, since it's difficult to figure out where to go to climb higher. It also doesn’t help with how cluttered some of the wrecked buildings can be, making navigation more frustrating than it should be at times. That along with quicksaves never activating unless you’re making progress in a quest can result in wasting a fair amount of time if you're not one to save automatically.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2671004093

You’ll come across an abundance of random materials and junk items found in crates that you loot. The crafting system falls short however, and feels needlessly added to fill out the boxes you can loot throughout the game. Since you have limited inventory space, it doesn't seem worthwhile to pick up materials unless you have a very specific item in mind. Most of the time you’ll replace inferior gear with equipment you find on enemies, so crafting feels meaninglessly added on for no real reason.

Master of Stealth Or a Master of Stupidity

Seven: Enhanced Edition doesn’t force players to play stealthily, giving you the option to fight in hostile areas and be spotted if you want. Each area is designed with stealth in mind however, rewarding players with a keen eye with alternative routes to enter hostile areas. There are a lot of tools and traps that you can utilise to make sneaking around and avoiding detection a lot easier. That being said, the stealthy approach is let down by a number of things, most notably the poor AI. Once you figure out that you can simply run past guards, hide in a bush just outside their line of sight and they have no clue where you’ve gone makes strictly being stealthy feel redundant. That’s not to say sneaking around isn’t enjoyable, but it just feels unnecessary when there isn’t much of a consequence to being detected. Even more so when you figure out how broken the combat and skills can be, making combat seem easier than sneaking around.

Boring Combat and Unbalanced Skills

Combat in general isn’t that thrilling or exciting, it's neat that each weapon type has its own special attack, but that alone doesn’t make the combat stand on its own two feet. It's riddled with cheap tactics that make fighting too easy, For example, stun locking enemies with a series of attacks and taking them out quickly (though sometimes stun locking doesn’t work reliably) makes light work of most enemy types. There is some creativity when the game introduces skills, from going invisible, to teleporting a short distance, to summoning a black hole, there’s a lot to pick from. Despite this creativity however, there’s an issue with how these skills are balanced, let's take the blackhole as an example. When you place a blackhole near a group of enemies they’re stuck in a helpless animation trying to escape from it, whilst you can just stroll up to them and whack them without them retaliating back. It doesn’t cost much to use either, it's not like you have to wait very long till you can use it again, it just feels broken, making bosses feel like a joke rather than a real threat.

Speaking of which, boss battles are an odd ball of their own, rarely appearing throughout the game but when they do they always seem out of place and poorly designed. There’s no stealth involved here, so if you’ve been primarily focusing on stealth then you may struggle. However, as stated above, you probably have a few skills that will aid you and make the boss a piece of cake, this still doesn’t excuse how poorly designed they are though. Their attacks are overly repetitive with little to no variation, most of the time it's you versus several other guys, there’s just no creativity with anything boss related, it feels like a way to pad out the game longer than it should be.

Bugs and Annoyances

You’d think that a game being released 4 years ago would have ironed out any bugs or technical issues by now, but alas, this isn’t the case. Although the bugs aren’t game breaking by any means, some of them can be annoyingly common. Having the game lock at 30fps when a cutscene plays is fine I guess, but when it then locks the entire game to 30fps till you restart, it just isn’t acceptable. This, along with the music just not playing at all sometimes, a few other uncommon bugs and the quicksave function that only works if you’re making progress in a quest, takes away from the experience more than it should.

????Closing Thoughts

Despite enjoying the first few hours of this game, it started to fall apart the longer that I played it. Although I enjoyed exploring the rich world that it offered, there felt like too many mechanics were left undeveloped. The crafting system felt tacked on with little to no real purpose and the combat felt lackluster to say the least. There’s a real lack of difficulty thanks to the unbalanced skills that makes me question if this game was play-tested enough. Overall, you can probably find a better stealth game if that’s what you’re here for, or a better open-world game if that’s what you’re into. This game tries to be too many things at once and fails to bring you satisfying content.

Do you like Thief?
Do you like Divinity: Original Sin 1/2?
Do you like Assassin's Creed?

Do you ever wish you could play as Garrett (from Thief) in Divinity: Original Sin and the controls were [sorta] like Assassin's Creed?
WISH GRANTED. (Everybody gets one).

Highlights:
I accidentally jumped off a ledge 3 floors up but there was an enemy beneath me so I assassinated him like a badass instead of dying like an idiot. (I died like an idiot a lot though).
I barely managed to kill an elite enemy. I looted his gear while the other enemies were at the far end of their patrol and then used my powerful new gear to easily kill the other enemies in the base.
I killed a boss by spawning a black hole on top of him and stabbing him in the back when he tried to escape it.

Bugs:
1. A few times, I ended up locked out of the controls:
a. Once I was locked out of the controls entirely, so I had to alt+F4.
b. Once I was locked out of the controller but PC controls worked, so I could close the game normally.
2. At some point, I became permanently energy drained in every part of the map.
(It happened while I was walking along a wall inside of Mortbane. The north-side of town, near the welder and the full gas-tank (for the Mayor quest)).
Fix: Travelling into and out of an energy shield fixed it.
3. I frequently got a weird sort of controller drift (due to the mouse, I guess?).
Fix: Repositioning the mouse (below center of screen) fixes it.

Issues:
You are MASTER THIEF TAVRIEL AND YOU ARE THE WORLD'S GREATEST GARBAGE SIFTER.
Seriously, you will spend more time looting trash than you will stealing stuff.
The combat is kinda janky. <- But extremely forgiving (if you can run away).
I had no idea if health and energy upgrades just got applied to my character immediately. <- I just beat the game and I still don't know, to be honest.

TL;DR:
Should you buy it? Yes. It goes on sale frequently.
Should you play it? Yes. It's fun and I look forward to their future games.

Note: This is not financial advice.

I really wanted to like this game, but after about 19 hours or so, I have become fed up. The aesthetic is fantastic, the gameplay decent, story was fine, but it is such a drag having to maneuver around this map. You'll spend the majority of your time trying to find a safe way to get from A to B and I just couldn't keep myself interested.

Meh, all in all a frustrating experience.
I completed 100% of the game and it has its amazing moments but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan it could've been a lot more polished than this.

This should've been a neutral review but i'd rather not give it a negative since neutral isn't possible.

A good game, but extremely unpolished and unintuitive.

This is isometric Dishonored. Very unpolished, but the world and story and writing and level design are AAA-level
Global map can be very confusing though and travelling to nearest fast-travel point (after you unlock one) can take unexpected amount of time

There are different endings, and some depend on amount of side quest you've done - I got too lazy and fast-finished the main quest, because got bored with navigation and running.

But still a solid 7/10

The open world-style gameplay and the design of the levels and areas provides a great deal of options, and a lot of flexibility, in how you approach each mission, which is very exciting and interesting, and the freedom feels very satisfying when you are able to find the perfect approach.

Unfortunately, given the sophistication of the world design, the stealth and combat gameplay are comparatively basic, do not evolve very many new challenges over the course of the game, and don't change much at their core. This means that for the latter half of the game, as you learn the systems and unlock more powerful upgrades and abilities, most of the challenge becomes trivial and the game becomes less and less interesting as you progress.

While it has good points, it doesn't have staying power. Because of how it falls off so steeply, I do not recommend the game.

This game still has lots of quest bugs, missing reward from quest bugs, item bugs. Bugs that the developers claim were fixed in previous patches are back. The latest patch is so long ago. No updates or announcements from the developers.

Buy at your own risk. Developers have given up on fixing this game.

Seven is, at its most fundamental, a hidden object game. You will go from point to point searching for items that are generally hidden, and then having to solve a parkour-driven puzzle to get to the hidden items. There are two fundamental problems with the game however.

1) The camera simply doesn't work with how the world is designed. The world is designed with extensive verticality in mind. You'll be going up and down at least as often as you're moving forward. But with an overhead view the camera has to constantly make things transparent. So, for instance, you'll frequently have no clue as to whether or not there is even a ceiling above you. It makes parkour frequently frustrating. In a game that's all about parkour this is a big problem.

2) The game, outside of the hidden object mechanics, is very poorly balanced. There is no real equipment progression since you go from naked to end-game gear in a few hours. At this point your character becomes effectively invincible unless you get massively outnumbered. And if you get massively outnumbered then you need only move 20 feet away, wait a few moments, and everything will be forgiven and forgotten.

These two issues also lead into a number of other problems. The lack of balance also means there's little to no reward for exploration. And the world is designed such that getting from point A to point B is difficult, so there's even less motivation to explore.

That said, beside these two issues the game is really quite well done. And I think there's tremendous potential here for a great sequel. So while I would not recommend this one, I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for a possible Seven 2.

Huge potential. This game has everything you need: crafting tables, potion making, lot of different types of weapons with their own feel, lots of clothing/outfits to ware, spell-like abilities that grow stronger with time, a huge open world to explore, voiced npcs, cool art style, endless quests and spots of 'interest', lots of other stuff.

However, I really didn't like the game at all. Open world? Yes! But you couldn't really traverse it. It was very hard to get from a to b...the map showed the locations of EVERYTHING, but I spent hours trying to get from zone to zone. Often times getting from zone a to b required finding a tiny, little known, gap in a fence off in the corner of the map or something like that. If fast-travel was open from the start, my review would be much different. Most of my frustration with the game is due to traveling around but not being able to get to where I need to go because of the way the terrain is laid out and the shit map.

Lots of positive things to say about this game. The amount of time it must have taken a small studio to make this large game must have been crazy. But games should be fun (challenging but fun) and this game just pissed me off more than anything. It just wasn't fun for me. Maybe this would have changed if I played another 20-30 hours, but I'd rather move on to another game that is enjoyable.

If the main thing you like in a game is exploration, and if you're a fan of Eurojank, this one might be a winner for you, as it was for me. The world is really unique and intricate, and I loved learning my way around the whole thing.

It is not polished, but there are no game-breaking bugs, so that does not bother me. The quality voice acting and gritty writing really kept me invested in the plot. The game mechanics are really unusual, but they make it work. The animations are fluid and satisfying. I love starting the game feeling lost and powerless, and by the end, being able to carve a swath of destruction across a landscape I know well and can effortlessly navigate.

Cool little open world rpg type game, gives you that skyrim kinda feel, run around explore, lots of hidden stuff and quests, see someone that looks like they have really good equipment or weapons? Try and take them out and its yours.

Very fun stealth game with a great graphical style and an engaging story. The game is daunting and confusing at first, but everything opens up once fast travel is unlocked. Exploration is exciting and the puzzles are interesting. Stealth and combat as a whole seem a bit easy to cheese (spam throwing enemies and executing them), but you still can't take on legions of enemies without quickly dying. Overall, the game was well worth the cost and I definitely recommend it.

My gripes were the game felt a bit clunky, and I still encountered a fair share of bugs along the way. A lot of weapon/armor variety felt unnecessary when combat rarely happened outside of executions. I played through the entire game without using ranged weapons, which is a shame because there was a cool variety -- but they never felt necessary.

I really wish I could recommend this game, because I really like the world and characters. Gameplay, the major problem is the reason for combat. You quickly realize that not only is combat not enjoyable, it is an unnecessary nuisance. Anything more than 2v1 and you will be stun locked. The combination of unfavorable combat conditions and no traditional leveling quickly results in you just avoiding combat. Why fight and craft, just ignore it all. Only stealth is of any value, which the game should have put all of its focus on. But even if that was true, you get no xp.

Now lets get to the REAL PROBLEM. My complaints above make the game just break even worth it. The bugs, there are so many times the quests breaks. With multiple quests running at the same time, you will need to load a save waaaaaay back. If you want, you can do each quest straight through, one at a time. No one plays RPG's that way though. I'm including this as a bug, the climbing mechanic is atrocious. Can I climb this, can I climb that? Every time is just throwing your body at a ledge or wall and praying you climb. Now going down, you see that small ledge that is intentionally placed there to descend? You are gonna need to VERY carefully move over the edge or you will roll off the edge. Going down will result in almost all your deaths. I would much rather have no parkour animations at all, just basic platforming. This game has a LOT of verticality and movement is so painful.

With the bugs, my frustration with this game does not allow me to recommend the game. I love the ideas and will complete the game to just hear the story, but it is just too painful to recommend.

Great idea and worldbuilding. Terrible execution and gameplay.

It says save often, but not because the game is hard (during the normal bits rather than the forced combat) but because the camera and map are fighting against you to get lost, run into enemies just off camera or fll to your death by accident.

Fails at being an action RPG, fails at being a stealth game.
The stealth aspect is absolutely ruined by the camera - not because isometric cant work for stealth games but because they've concentrated on verticality whilst having the camera not occlude the players view... so anything above you is not show, and any walls are not shown. Climbing stairs or ladders is a flip of the coin as to whether someone is up there - you can't know, because you cant see.

The ai is unpredictable and terrible. I gave up after the first forced fight because I wasn't equipped for it and it autosaved just before entering.

Hard miss

Story is interesting,
gameplay clunky and meh -you can't pass a gate but you can climb next to it while guards are watching, if you enter a hostile area you can't kill any guard, combat system is basically right click, crafting system terribly confusing and no use(?), tons of junk to loot as well becoming overweight seriously fast.
I don't mind there is absolute no pointers how to go from A to B but the camera hides walls and you get so confused where and how to go it's simply a headache.

Fun game. Decent flow, some back-tracing in spots, but as progression happens, more fast-travel points open up to ease that. Good story for the most part, multiple endings, and a nice diversion in the middle with the free DLC they added.

+ Good overall progression and story. Decent RPG.
+ Ran fluid at 144 fps on my 144hz monitor.
+ Great sound (3d positional too).
+ Responsive action and lots to do.
+ Achievements are attainable by mere mortals.

- Mostly died due to terrain falling from goofy missed jump mechanics.
- Ranged weapons were basically a complete waste of time (stick to sword).
- Sometimes the 'reveal' of higher areas was annoying/obscured, but manageable.

I'm not good with reviews but i truly enjoyed this little gem of a game. I was so surprised when i started it by all the possible ways you can play this and all the items you could loot that it just blew me away and the game just kept on going with my positive view.
There where a few things that jumped out that i didn't liked and one of them was the lack of intelligent AI with the way they fight and how little they care in their surroundings but in general it was a really good game and i dearly hope they will create another dlc or even better, a new game.

Absolutely amazing! The developers are still releasing fixes and working on this game up to this date so CHECK THE DATE OF ANY REVIEW YOU READ as the developers respond to many of them and they actually go and fix what needs to be fixed. I'm surprised this game didn't get more attention as it combines the disguise, stealth and assassination traits from games like Hitman or the well known Assassin's Creed with some great RPG elements.

The Good

One of the most interesting mechanics is the chip system, with which you can make a variety of builds and just switch between them anytime you want by going into the menu and equipping a different chip. You upgrade your chips by collecting skill mods/upgrades which are scattered all around the land of Peh. With some thinking and dedication you can make an assassin build which will allow you to kill enemies from invisibility instantly and make their bodies disappear or make a fighter build which will allow you to shoot the brains out of the opponent with a gun while the world around you is slowed down by your abilities. The best part is that the game doesn't force you to approach most of the situations in a specific way. You can actually solve any problem the way you decide to. You aren't limited by any leveling system and there is no grind so the game didn't feel like a chore for even a second.

In TDLG you are the one who makes decisions and there are several moments where your decision might affect how your story ends (this is similar to The Witcher 3 in a way and it works really well).

In terms of length you should expect your first playthrough to be around the 30-40h mark so it's safe to say that there is enough content to make one occupied for a while.

The is absolutely awesome. I loved it because it actually made me think about the real world as the events that happen and the behaviour of the people is ''related'' to the ones in real life. There is also a free DLC which might make one shed a tear. Also the fact that there is only 35 achievements which can be completed without much trouble is great for any completionist.

The Bad

A few bugs can be expected as the world is really big and its understandably harder for a smaller studio to fix everything, but as I mentioned in the beginning: They are still supporting the game and bringing in new bug fixes every now and then.
For me there were a few bugs which broke my immersion but were at least funny, like guards walking into a tent to take a nap but suddenly appearing on the roof of the tent laying there like it's normal, or guards who appear in the room above the canteen - sitting (or rather levitating) above the ground having a snack.

The visibility and camera might be a problem sometimes as you can only move it horizontally and zoom in. Sometimes you might fall to your death because you thought you could make a jump which you didn't see was too long to do, or you might not notice that there is a floor above you which you couldn't see but had to get to.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the game is great and I think anyone who wants to can fall in love with it. For someone the price might be a problem, but I personally think it's money well spent. If you don't mind a few bugs I think you'll love it!

I'd like to give this game a positive review but I cannot.

The reason is that it's constantly in nighttime mode which is not fun at all to play. I don't understand why people think this is a good thing and keep putting a lack of illumination in their games / movies.

It is not challenging, it is plain annoying. There is no way to wait until light either.

The memory leaks and ample bugs though worth mentioning would not give me cause to give a negative review but nighttime mode ruined this game for me.

Seven: Enhanced Edition is an open-world (so open I regularly get lost, end up in random areas or have trouble getting back to the main road), isometric (read: annoying camera and none of the beautiful vistas you see in the trailer) stealth (barely playable) and action (buttonmash combat) role-playing (you make no choices, you just just do every stupid fetch quest in the book) game, in which you play as Teriel (not Garret, not Styx, not Altair), a master thief (only by dint of moronic npcs) sent on a mission (goto X, do Y - no explanations) that will shake the foundations of the Vetrall Empire (the world building is too convulted and tried too hard). Includes the Drowned Past (cheers. what?) expansion.

there are do many greats parts to this game. but it is also overloaded with... everything... There is about as much loot and lore and things to discover as in any elder scrolls. its just too much to be enjoyable.
Ther worst part is the enemy AI and combat in general. it just doesn't work

The game seems like it could be fun, the world, the plot, the voice acting all draw you in. Unfortunately it gets lost with flaws of game play.

Finding crafting and skill items early on not having the ability to use them until you find the skill the go with or upgrade your crafting benches later on sucks.

The barter system with the merchants is a pain, anything of reasonable value is too expensive for them and you find yourself just trading item for item for resources that you then have to drag back to a crafting bench to melt down.

The idea behind moving though buildings and having walls vanish works ... sometimes, other times you see what appear to be a ledge you can jump to only to find out it's just a wall that missing or a cliff you've just jumped off.

Even with those issues I was having fun playing it until i got stuck with an unknown Fatal Error constantly crashing the game. I really wish I could have seen where this game was going.

Another buggy Unreal 4 game: saved full screen mode behaves like full window on next game launch. There are also some annoying micro-stutterings while playing and, strange enough, will make your CPU/GPU burn above 60fps.
The game from this technical point of view has never been fixed. Annoying.
It is also affected by some known bugs never fixed after more than 1 year, and can randomly crash to desktop, despite some updates.

Vote: 5.5/10
If technical and non-technical bugs would have been fixed: 8/10

At the first glance Seven seems like an Assassin's Creed with top down view, but it is, in fact, a RPG with open world, 50+ side quests, various equipment, tons of loot and crafting.

It reminds me of Gothic for many reasons. First and foremost, you play as a prisoner on a colony island. But the rest of the reasons are not so great: clunky combat (thankfully, stealth is almost always an option), tons of bugs (yes, even in the enhanced edition) and too much running around and backtracking.

However, the story and the setting are interesting, there are some memorable characters and some fun references and easter eggs.

The only things that are really frustrating are crashes and bugs, some of them quest-breaking. Several times I was on the verge of uninstalling and not recommending the game, but in the end I think it's worth it if you have patience and use that quick save often.

Fantastic storyline with a beautiful environment backdrop but not recommending it due to lot of bugs I encountered during gameplay missions. Had to save and load muliple times to play properly.
Some Bugs I encountered-
1. Contract Allocation m/c shows ? even when no quest available.
2. Unable to pick up Loot in many places.
3. (DLC mission) Unable to send fake auryte through m/c to Calithea. Had to perform same action multiple times to advance.
4. I hv also noticed that if you go and play freely outside the storyline and come across loot in the environment and if you take it which if is related to a quest, you are unable to advance in the game if you undertake the said quest later in the game. (Problem encountered in Saviors Temple Missions & The Bandit Leaders Treasure missions)

Also hated that the Developers should have provided an option to save Calithea. Spent an hour searching for a way back to get to her. Apparently I don't hv 'Free Will' in 'Free Will Mission/Quest'. May be its just me but I hate sad endings. Theres enough sadness in real life.

Seven: Enhanced Edition is a 3D isometric RPG that departs from many of its peers by favouring stealth over direct confrontation, abandoning character progression through experience points, and traversing terrain vertically. As a result, S:EE doesn’t play like traditional stats-heavy RPGs like Neverwinter Nights, but more like stealth action games like Assassin’s Creed.

When these game mechanics work, they really work well and make playing S:EE fun. Removing the need for grinding for XPs means you can avoid engaging enemies. Being a fan of stealth action games, I really enjoyed sneaking past annoying and powerful guards by hiding in smoke and foliage, behind objects, and under stairs. You can also don various disguises as you infiltrate restricted areas.

The game offers flexibility in boosting your character’s stats. Character progression isn’t done by spending XPs on any particular skillsets, but by inserting/swapping out Ability Chips, as well as getting and upgrading your armours and weapons. As a result, you can change up your character’s skills as needed. For example, I’ve found myself swapping out the Thief chip for the Scavenger chip, so that I could carry more stuff, but at the expense of a bit of my lockpicking abilities.

The biggest way that S:EE varies from its peers is its focus on navigating through the landscape by climbing and ziplining over great distances. The verticality of this game literally adds a new dimension to RPG adventuring. I found it thrilling to zipline over enemy territories and treacherous terrains to a safe spot, especially when I had enemies in pursuit.

This mix of features can be a lot of fun. Yet, they feel unbalanced and not optimally implemented. That’s in part due to the game presenting itself as an RPG, but really wanting to be a serious stealth action game, too. It just so happens that a big contributing factor to the game’s overall lack of polish is it being an isometric RPG.

Remarkable stealth action games (e.g. Assassin’s Creed, Deus Ex, Dishonored, Hitman, and Splinter Cell) work in part because they give you informative feedback on whether your enemies can detect you or not. These games are so good at it that you feel like you have great intuition about your enemies’ behaviour and awareness of your surroundings. The fact that you can move the camera freely allows you to have clear sense of the situation around you, including your enemies’ lines of sight.

Yet, the camera angle in S:EE is restricted to being at 45(-ish) degrees. The isometric view is great for strategizing, but it doesn’t make you feel like you’re in tune with your surroundings. You can try simulating an over the shoulder camera angle by zooming in on your character, but you’ll end up losing a lot of visual information about what’s happening around you. As a result, I never felt like I had adequate stealth intuition and awareness in S:EE, even after putting in over 20 hours into the game.

The isometric view is also a hindrance to vertical movements. You can’t always clearly see where you’re climbing or dropping to at that camera angle. I fell to my death many times because I misjudged the height of a fall or my character’s post-fall roll distance. Annoyingly, you can’t even look up to see where the higher point of a zipline is connected. In one zone, there're many multi-storey structures that my view was often obfuscated by outlines and shadows of people, objects and other buildings. Thus, the isometric perspective characteristic of many RPGs conflicts with the stealth mechanics in multiple ways.

Great modern stealth action games also give you an ability or technology to help you track your enemies’ behaviour. Whether it be called Eagle Vision, Radar, Dark Vision, Instinct, or sonar goggles, they give you an advantage over your enemies as you move. There’s a similar power in S:EE called Sense Mode, but it semi-pauses the game, interrupting the flow of the stealth action. Again, the game’s RPG backbone doesn’t fully complement the mechanics that make stealth games work.

For some reason -- whether by choice or due to programming error -- disguises aren’t always effective in S:EE. If you happen to walk by a similarly dressed enemy, they’ll spot you and soon give chase. Thus, disguises merely buy you a bit of extra time and don’t really help with stealth as in Hitman games. This is very frustrating because there’re instances, such as infiltrating heavily guarded Overseer stations, in which disguises are highly recommended, if not necessary.

The conflicts between the game’s RPG and stealth mechanics are also frustrating because your thief character (i.e. you can’t choose character class) is not built for skirmishes with strong enemies. Since you’ll need to fight enemies at some point and there isn’t an XP-based character progression system, you’ll rely on crafting armour and weapon upgrades, as well as finding hidden Ability Chips to enhance your character’s skills. Although the game provides in-game “hands-on” experience to practice key skills like pickpocketing early on, there aren’t any for crafting, upgrading weapons, and swapping out and modifying Ability Chips.

S:EE can be frustrating in other ways, too. Here is an anecdote of what happened to me in the last couple of hours before I called it quits. It was around this time that I learned not to ignore or discard junk items because they’re needed for crafting armour and weapon upgrades. Throughout the game, my character was hauling an extra weapon, an additional set of disguise, and large amounts of consumables already. He ended up moving slowly across the wide terrain because he wasn’t built for carrying a heavy load by default. So when he started keeping crafting materials as well, he was no longer quick and agile.

I eventually learned that I could stash extra items at Fast Travel points, which are unlocked after successfully hacking a computer in those difficult-to-infiltrate-without-being detected Overseer stations. Yet, these Fast Travel points are often found along the perimeters of a zone. This meant that at some point, I still needed to haul a bunch of junk with me to a local crafting station. When I arrived at those crafting stations, I learned that they weren't at high enough level to craft the upgrades I wanted, despite my having the needed materials and schematics already. All that work for nothing!

Oh, did I mention that (at least) one Fast Travel spot was located at the top of a heavily guarded Overseer station? And the moment I stepped off it, with my heavy load of items, I was attacked immediately? Yup, that happened!

It’s therefore ironic that I eventually stopped playing S:EE not because of the technical flaws, but because of the mundane and confusing main story, my lack of investment in my pre-determined base character, and overwhelming number of side quests. Yet surprisingly, I still find myself wanting to recommend the game, though certainly not with great enthusiasm. That’s because when all these features work well together, however seldom it may be, they truly work to the game’s advantage. S:EE is at the very least an interesting experiment in incorporating stealth into an isometric RPG, and it could have perhaps been great with some tweaking. If you’re a fan of RPGs, I think it’s worth spending several hours trying this game out.

I don't endorse a lot of games on this website, this is a good game.

This is pretty good mix on adventure and stealth game, it fits the right balance of challenge and rewarding. World building is good and gameplay is solid, tho I have encountered couple of bugs with using windows.

I encourage everyone to play the demo and try it out, full game is different enough from the demo but it represents well how it feels at it's best.

I just finished the main game with thirty five hours played. I'm not sure if I'll go back and tackle the added expansion content, but I might.

I really loved the first fifteen hours or so. After that I got a little tired of navigating the map. There are just too many giant mountains or chasms preventing you from moving around, and they're not shown well enough on the map. I love to collect everything, and seeing an upgrade available just out of reach was pretty annoying.

The voice acting is pretty stellar, and until I became a completely overpowered killing machine, I really enjoyed the stealth mechanics and combat. By the end I just held down the special attack button and obliterated everything, bosses included.

While it's not perfect, I would (and already have) absolutely recommend this game, and I'd love if the developers decided to make a sequel.

Awesome game!

At first I was reluctant to try it out as it seemed to be a low effort/quality game, but I'm glad to say that I was completely wrong on both of those. I do love JRPGs in general, so I might be a bit biased, but this one is a true gem. And I've gotten it on a sale, a real steal considering the effort that's been put in to this game.

The atmosphere, the lore/story is really something unique and I would love to see it expanded in the future. The gameplay is easy to get a handle on, but the move away from the traditional experience based, levelling systems is something that some might like and some might dislike. I personally did not like that the improvements required finishing some parts of the main quest first, as I prefer to do side quests and explore as much as possible before tackling the main quest. It's more of a stealth based game, than a hack & slash that are typically in this format, so most of the things involved are quite different, Gear progression is for instance limited, but it's not really necessary to have as you are a thief who should avoid larger scale combat anyway. But in most cases, in reaching your objective you are given a number of ways to go about it - will you explore around and try to find the side entrance, or will you use a disguise which might fool the guards, or just rush past them and try to lose them afterwards, all of these are viable options and you don't get penalised for using either of these, even if it's not a stealthy approach. The character progression is mainly tied to quests and exploration, which is great. And the main thing is that the game world, if you like exploring around is absolutely huge, and there is lots of content in most areas that you visit. The crafting system is simple, yet effective, and most items you come across have some use to them. And the ending was really something I had to think about before making a decision, as it was not really an easy one, and I consider that a big plus.

There are some things I'd like to mark as faults though, one of them being that the game can often error on load, and require a steam client restart for it to load again. Combat is simple, but enemies might sometimes just ignore ranged attacks in parts of their animations (spiders are notorious for this) or in some positions. And yes, exploring the swamp before nearly finishing the whole main questline is really a huge pain, since it's incredibly dark. I get that this is explained in the story, later on, but I really thought there was something wrong with either my monitor, the game's brightness levels, or my eyesight. There are also places where you might randomly fall through the ground or touch a deadly spot which doesn't show on the ground, so my advice for this is just for people to continuously save when they play. The game lists most items as junk generally, but a lot of these will be useful crafting components and quest items later on in the game (sometimes a lot of these will be required for a quest, thankfully they are easy to come by).

However, the faults I've listed are really minor in comparison to the really awesome feeling the game left me with and how I've enjoyed playing it. Really looking forward to the next one in the series!

I would also like to point out that I really love the support the devs have given to this game on the forums, often answering questions and giving info to players. I noticed this when googling for some things I missed (darn that rune d next to Warden's Hold!), and I applaud the devs on this!

If you like Dishonoured and Satellite Reign, you'll like this game for sure. Some parts can seem rushed with voice lines not matching subtitles, but really not too much more on there. If you're struggling, you should be using stealth.

It's horrific how little attention this game received. It's rather glorious, and I am hoping very much the developers plan to keep working in this world.

Things I liked the most:
- The voice work. The voice acting in this game is an experience. I'm typically picky about this one and don't say voice work is exceptional lightly. This is top quality.
- The music. This game has music by Miracle of Sound and i found myself stopping and listening to some of the tracks. Particularly when there was a certain shadow around that I shall not spoil.
- The visuals. This game is a unique visual experience, the lighting and effects are top notch, do not use reshade on this one, it knows what it's about.
- Most importantly, the story/world you are set in. I don't do post apocalyptic much. This one got my attention.

Now I did receive this game in a humble bundle, but a discount shouldn't stop anyone from checking it out!

it took about 60 hours to finish getting MOST of the quests done and occasionally getting lost. This is including the free dlc they added.

It's buggy, and the quests are occasionally very vague and opaque. The game lets you explore as you please and you can accidentally complete things and skip portions of the game. That said... it's a delightful bit of exploration, I really enjoyed running around, sneaking, and climbing my way through the map and overall adored it. Well worth the price of admission in my humble opinion, even better if you can find it on sale.

I absolutely loved the game. The open world was fantastic and I loved how you can go anywhere and do anything right from the get-go. I was able to finish most of the side missions and get the visas for most of the areas before I even got to properly doing the story.
The stealth is great and the movement/traversal around the world is excellent. One issue with the traversal is that since the camera is locked to a certain angle I could not see things that were above me and had to look around and fiddle around with the controls to climb to where I wanted to.
Only problem I had with the game was the combat. It wasn't very responsive and the animations feel very drawn out. This might be a design choice but it was something I wasn't a fan of. It gets better later on in the game with better weapons and passive upgrades, but dodging and attacking still felt awkward. Thankfully since you can do most of the game in stealth, this wasn't much of an issue.
There are a few bugs with the game and it did crash quite a bit, but not enough to detract from the overall experience. I had a great time with it overall and it was a fantastic game.

Overall; it's not a bad game but not worth your time. Story was good, stealth mechanics are satisfying (also stealing), skill system is pretty good but you don't need any of them except a few fights. Some of side quests are also good but some other side quests are too repetitive. Jumping mechanics are good but have some bugs. Fighting is meh. It can be satisfying but if you're somewhere like hillside it can be annoying too much (also frogs). Optimisation is bad. Overall; these things are good and I enjoyed. I don't recommend this game because map design is too bad. Half of your time you're doing quests, the other half of time is running, searching the quest are or trying to get out of that place. And its TOO ANNOYING. I've raged a lot of times because of this design. The game has fast travel but opening them is annoying again, also the locations of fast travel points are too bad. I mean; when you look at your map you see a fast travel location near your quest and you teleport there. But because of terrible map design, you can't go to your quest area. Sometimes it's too high from teleport location, sometimes there is only a zippline to that teleport location which is no going back. (one way).
Like I said; game is actually good but this map design is too bad and doesn't worth your time.

One of the only reviews I have ever written. I was blown away by this game. 9/10 and mad props to the dev team. Great story, great atmosphere, great music, great quests etc. Sure it could have used a little polish here and there but damn if it was not the most fun I've had in a RPG in a long ass while. I wish I had found this gem when it was released. Worth every damn penny.

The stealth in this is so poor. The vision cones are so narrow that I could crouch in the middle of a room and the guard didn't see me. When they do spot you, they are slow to react even when you are in plain sight. They are easy to confuse. Combat is very basic and boring. I'm not a big fan of the art style. I think there is a reason most of my friends spent less than 5 hours in this game.

I really wish I could like this game because it does have some good ideas, but ultimately, having failed to hook me for the third time I tried playing it, I can't say I recommend it. Summarizing my thoughts may be hard as all pros have cons attached to them as well, but I will try to make as much sense of my thoughts as I can.

Exploration is nice and from the very start you can immediately get everywhere apart from a few security doors you need an upgraded lockpick and/or drill to open. It ties into the progression system because there is no XP or levels. Instead, all skills, skill upgrades and gear are found by exploring the world and finding them or the schematics needed to craft them. They can also be earned by completing quests found in the world. Traversing the world can be very fun with how vertical the map is and how agile your character is, and stealth can feel rewarding at first. This is fun for a bit... but then all of the cons of this game start weighing it down...

You soon realize that all upgrades you find are useless. The only ones that matter are the lockpick and drill upgrades allowing you access to newer areas. Everything else is useless providing minor stat upgrades you barely even notice. Skills sound fun but aren't needed. In my 8 hours of gameplay I barely used them at all. Gear also doesn't really matter when you stealth, but matters a lot when the game suddenly decides you HAVE to fight someone. Loot you find is pointless as you will dismantle most of it and have tons of resources with nothing useful to make out of it. And you can't sell it because all vendors have only a handful of currency which once they spend, never replenishes. So you quickly run out of places to sell your stuff at.

Stealth quickly becomes both a joke and a frustration. AI is blind to anything outside its field of vision, meaning you can stand right next to a guard in its FOV blindspot and loot things to your hearts content. You can often just run through a restricted zone using these blindspots without nead to sneak at all. That FOV on the other hand varies greatly in terms of how high the guard can see making it impossible to know if you are high enough to avoid detection, leading to frustrating moments of a random guard spotting you despite never being able to see you before.

The camera also frequently struggles to accurately show you your surroundings, especially when walls and cliffs are in view making it hard to navigate and plan ahead.

I want to like this game. I really do. But I just can't. Every time I start enjoying it, I find a new source of frustration which makes me quit it every so often without being able to really get into it. Some day I might be able to get into the game and recommend it. But not today.

Aesthetically, the game looks really nice, but it also felt incredibly clunky (keyboard/mouse). It was also slow-paced, and felt very back-tracky without the fast travel. As someone who doesn't really play these types of open world RPGs, it didn't feel RPG-ish nor did it feel easy to understand to play.

Can't believe I didn't review this game after I finished it. There's a lot I could say but it's probably already been said. I personally really enjoyed the game. The story was the best part easily. The combat was okay and sometimes good, but if the game needed anything it was more options with the armor/upgrades and weapons. At one point I got an upgrade to my armor and for the whole rest of the game never found anything that would outclass it whatsoever that also wouldn't turn me into a snail. (The game does punish you for moving too slowly as well, be advised.)

Overall an awesome world and adventure to delve into with a myriad of ways to approach most quests and puzzles.

Very good game, tried a lot of new ideas and combine existing ideas in ways that I haven't seen before. It took a little bit to get used to, but once I did, it sucked me in completely. Interesting story, characters and world and a good amount of content and side stories to flesh it out. Would love a sequel.

Seven has a beautiful foundation and aesthetic with a decent story to boot, but at every stage the fun is undermined by tedium, sub par game design and lack of direction.

– Progression is largely slow and irrelevant with a lot of roving around and finding areas you can't pass or can't activate with rewards you don't care about.
– Money/Gear is irrelevant, you can kill the toughest 'impossible' enemies right off the bat and take all their stuff. The only use for money is for visas to stop guards attacking you in each zone – I never found any high level gear I wanted or needed to buy.
– Crafting is a benefit, but the tedium of gathering materials and breaking some down for parts (some random components make sure to keep...) spoil it. Alchemy (for potions) can be completely ignored.
– Inventory is a pain, you spend the first half of the game hoarding everything, then eventually learn what you've done wrong, what to keep, and to ignore everything else.
– Most missions are just not fun and can sometimes be hard to work objectives out. Maybe just follow the main quest line which is where the good story comes into play.

This is almost a gem and I tried to stick with it, but tedium and frustration make it hard to endure to completion.

Six hours in and I'm still lost in the wonderfully put together world and narrative! I love being free and being lost in learning all that this game has to offer! I know the main part of this game is stealth but I enjoy that it allows me to change my character to be a somewhat assassin that chooses his fights wisely and not without plenty of preparation to pull the rug out from underneath a goliath (hard, difficult, or deadly enemies)!

Only cons noticeable right off is the difficulty in controlling the character so during fights it can be difficult. If the fighting and camera could have been further developed this would have been a near masterpiece game! Regardless, it's a rough diamond that is worth playing through and experiencing! Thanks for the hard work on this game developers!
