Erstaunlich gutes und kurzweiliges Spiel, dass jedoch einen hohen Frustfaktor aufgrund der schwierigkeit und auf Dauer ist die Musik super nervig ! Trotzdem gemuted super :D

Das Spiel ist der HAMMER! So einfach und genial. Verbraucht keinen Speicherplatz und ist simpel und gut. Ich will gar nicht mehr aufhören. Retro-Touch und einfache elektronische Musik. Bei jedem Sprung gibts einen Ton und man trägt zur gesamten Melodie etwas bei. Kauft es euch! Und im Sale ist es ein muss!

Zum Zeitvertreib ganz nett.
Mit jeden Lvl Steigt der Schwierigkeitsgrad.
Ein Jump and Runspiel was auch Platformer eigenschaften hat.
Am Besten mit Controller Spielen.

This was my first Bit.Trip game on my Wii, quite possible the first game I have bought purely digitally and paid for with a card... oh the nostalgia...
This game is beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing including your actions affecting the music itself.
The difficulty is pretty high though and this game WILL make you wanna break whatever device you're playing it on, even if it's a $2000 machine, so beware! This game is dangerous!

Runner 3 (BIT.TRIP Runner 3) is a awesome game, BIT.TRIP Runner 2 is a good game, but the first episode (BIT.TRIP Runner) is just a awful game for only one thing : The overall frustating difficulty.

Runner 2 and 3 have checkpoint in each level for better experience, but not here, if you die you start from the beginning, for short level that ok, but for boss level and long level (hello level 1-11 : Odyssey ... ) ; that make the game boring and infuriating.

Steam succes statistics clearly show that; in Runner 3, 38,3 % of the player have finish the first world, in Runner 2, 32,4 % of the player have finish the first world, but in this episode only 11,6 % of the player have finish the first world; that a big difference !

And the ''easy'' difficulty don't make the game easiest at all, that just remove all gold to collect, but all obstacles at still here, and no checkpoint added.

So can't recommand except if you love over frustating game, better go back to Runner 2 and 3 that are 100 times better than this one.

Very warning to someone who found this game and wanted to play a rhythm game.

This is not a rhythm game

Instead of that, this is absolutely a platform game with high-accuracy operation needed.
If you are curious about the music idea in the game, as the answer, it's kind of symbol that describes your score and can partially be regard as accuracy of your gameplay by mixing music from just beats to a completed music.
By the way, the beats in the game are not references or timing for you to input; however, they are even interferences.

About the difficulty

After beating the level named END OF THE BEGINNING, if you try to collect all of the gold bars to get perfection of some levels, the difficulty arises and is almost as hard as the game named Sekiro™: Shadows Die Twice.
Like most of speed run players who often use extreme jump on the border of platforms to reach the shortest way, this game sometime forces you to remember the position of inputs with scanty tolerance instead of normal reaction after you see the gold bars or the obstacles, but I cannot say nobody likes this kind of challenges, it is just not for me.

As my conclusion, although I got used to this game by beating ZONE 1 which is one third of the game if there is no secret, perhaps I could beat the whole game, I did not enjoy it.
Last but not least, I did not know why there is severe after image on the graphics which hurt
my eyes that it was unusual when I was playing a game.

Not much reason to get this one when Runner 2 exists. Runner 2 is the same basic idea, but done much better. In this one, too many of the obstacles blend into the background, and it's often hard to tell what's dangerous and what's not.

It's a whole game of the nerve wracking NES vehicle jumping over stuff segments that ruined otherwise good games (IMO). It's neat, and I can see why someone could like it. Not my bag, but not a bad game.

BIT.TRIP RUNNER was first released on the Wii as part of a collection of games, digital only as Wiiware. This one stood out in the collection, became sort of a cult classic and led to a couple of sequels. In the meantime the entire BIT.TRIP collection was released on a plethora of different platforms, including Steam.

This game has you controlling a little 8-bit pixel guy called Commander Video throughout a unique pixelly world. All the commander really does is auto run in a linear fashion on a set stage, from left to right. You have to make it all the way from the beginning to the finish line without running into any obstacle, all the while collecting gold bars. A very simple concept, yet this game's difficulty is absolutely brutal. The aforementioned obstacles present themselves in the form of drop pits, fire, projectiles and the environment as a whole. If you run into a wall, you die. If you fall into a pit, you die. If you get hit by a projectile...dead. You probably kind of see where I'm going with this...

When you die you instantly get thrown back to the start of the level to go for another run and try again. Now, this is where the game will make or break you as a player. If all goes well you will end up in a flow, a rhythm of sorts. The game takes this into account with its music which is done really well. Every gold bar or power-up you collect adds a note to the ongoing soundtrack. This makes you feel as though you're an integral part of the motion that's running on your screen and when you finally do beat the entire level and get all the gold, it ends up feeling like a natural victory because of this. This is a part of the game that needs to click. If it doesn't, you might as well stop playing. If it does- great, you're going to become addicted to this game.

There are a couple of prerequisites to be able to enjoy the game's flow and the most important one here is patience. Losing can become incredibly frustrating, especially in the game's bonus retro stages. These stages are only accessible if you've collected all the gold bars in a level. When you've done this and subsequently finish the level, you will be transported to a retro stage which takes the basic concepts from the regular level and amps up that difficulty considerably. The major downside here is when you lose (and you will- a lot) you get thrown from the level instantly. This means that if you want to have another go at one of these bonus stages, you will have to replay the preceding level as well. This is just bad design, nobody wants to play this way. Alas, it's the way it is. This concept does get improved in the game's sequels, but here it remains a strictly no mercy proposition.

Apart from that I have two major complaints. The first is an unexpected difficulty spike in the first of the game's three worlds. This happens in 1-11: Odyssey and is completely uncalled for. This level's difficulty is on par with the game's final stages and it just doesn't make sense to include this one that early. All it's going to do is make players give up before they even see the first boss. My second complaint is the retro stage for 3-2: Leaky Krinkston. This stage requires insane precision which borders on the inhuman. There is a repeated segment with three gold bars lingering in the air followed by some campfires on the ground. When you jump you have to be exactly in the middle of the first gold bar and hold the jump button to coast above the fires and safely collect all three bars. The problem here is that the timing is so incredibly precise that it literally comes down to the millisecond. This is completely unfair and makes you wonder if this level was even play tested. Most of my in-game hours were actually devoted to finishing this one retro stage.

When all is said and done I do recommend this game, but it will haunt you if you're an achievement hunter or a completionist. Seriously consider if you actually want to commit to finishing the game's retro levels, because there is a genuine chance that will drive you to utter despair and insanity. When you're just focusing on the game's regular levels and have a little patience along with some platforming and timing skills, you will love this game.

Normally I wouldn't write a review for a game that came out in 2011 (or even write a review at all) but this game is so awful that I have to put it out there. 90% of the game is inoffensive but the last 10% is so bad that the game is impossible to recommend. It's like they purposely design the levels to be as annoying as possible, sticking the only hard jumps at the very end as well as using dumb instagibs. The worst levels have you repeating minutes of braindead sections over and over as you die to a single precise maneuver. It isn't fun, it's just rage inducing.

I got this game on the Wii 8 years ago and it's been 5 years since I've last played it. Even though I was just a kid at the time of purchase, damn did I choose the right game to spend my Wii Points on.

Fast forward to today, I took a shot in the dark to check if this game was on PC, and sure enough, here I am. When I booted the game and started playing, I realized I had a huge smile plastered on my face that couldn't leave. I can only imagine the smile will leave once I get to the harder levels and be replaced with gritted teeth.

I don't care if it came out in 2011, IT HAS HELD UP INCREDIBLY.
Play. This. Game. If. You. Haven't...

...please? :)

In the Bit.Trip collection, the Runner games are the best! In Bit.Trip Runner, you will jump, kick, slide, spring, and block your way through each level to face each boss. These actions are choreographed with the soundtrack which really helps you learn good timing. While the controls are very easy to learn, this game demands perfection because your mistakes will send you back to the start of the level since there are no checkpoints. Experiencing the thrill of completion after grinding a level is extremely satisfying because you always get enough feedback so that you don't feel cheated. With plenty of hidden collectibles and three difficulty levels, there is a lot of content to master no matter how hardcore you think you are. If you like an old school challenge, this trip will make you more than just a runner. Game on.

Welcome to Bit.Trip Rager, an excellent exercise in reflexes and muscle memory. Playing this game WILL be frustrating… and yet, oh so satisfying. A bizarre sort of rhythm platforming auto-runner. The musical component is somewhat strange, but pleasant most of the time. When I first played, I walked away from the game out of frustration, but I’m glad I ultimately returned to finish it. If you’re willing to put in the time to conquer this challenge, then the journey will be worth it.

I'm sure people are going to hate me for this, but I did not enjoy this game one bit. Uh. No pun intended.

I love rhythm games, but this one feels more like you're creating the rhythm as opposed to playing to it.

I've seen people praise it for the difficulty. Yeah, it's difficult. Sure, I love a good challenge.
But, after making it through the first world, I breathed a sigh of relief not because it felt like an accomplishment, but because I would never have to do it again.

Bit Trip Runner is the Dark Souls of rhythm based platform games. It's brutally difficult and frustratingly unforgiving at times, but I still found it fun enough to keep me coming back until I had completed it. Be prepared to replay levels a lot until you master it.

Why this game even exists? I'd understand if this would be free project of some kid who wanted to pass his cumputer class exams, but they actually asking money for this. I've got it from a bundle long time. Decided to play a little and it's just terrible.
The difficulty is insane, there's no easy difficulty (you can choose easy in the options but it's meant to troll people), the first boss is literally impossible.

The visuals are ugly and the music and sounds are annoying. After playing this for 10 minutes you'll get a headache.

A complete waste of time and money, wouldn't even pass for a free game. Even hentai puzzles are better games than this which only shows how bad this Bit trip runner is.

Bit.Trip Runner harkens back to days of old. This is a TOUGH as nails gaming experience that rewards being persistent and learning from your previous mistakes. I do appreciate the musical component of the game, and I felt like I was creating music as I played, which as someone who has minimal to no musical abilities did appreciate. The end game made me furious with its punishment for minor mistakes and then needing to repeat upwards of a minute of a level. Overall it was a good game though be ready for a tough gaming adventure. Good luck!

This is to those who are thinking if this game is worth to buy or not.

Okay, i'm one of those who likes staring the screen with not hard-games and a bit repetitive games to pass time and think in my sutff. This game didn't give me it since it has some parts that pissed me off since i had to rejoin it like 30 times. However, it is not that hard either.

It s a nice game and you gonna enjoy it surely but sometimes i couldn't difference at all the objects from the scenario and the background... that, in a fast game, is unacceptable... but appart from it i have no more things to point out.

About the price: Just take it in a deal.

Okay so initially i disliked this guy so i decided to give it a try and tbh it's a fun rythm game that's been polished but at times it feels mre like a platformer than a rythm game. I had fun with this but honestly it's just a polished mobile game for $10. I mean it's fun and challengeing to complete the levels rather than endless running but i still think there are better options for $10 if you really like a mix of rythum and platform and a challenge get this game. 5.5/10

Bit. Trip Runner is a simple but pretty fun game. Your task is basically to avoid obstacles by jumping, sliding, springing or blocking at just the right time in order to complete increasingly difficult levels. One mistake sets you back to the start of the level. This can get frustating especially towards the end with the last two levels in particular being very tough. I would say a bit similar to the likes of Cook Serve Delicious in that the gameplay consists only of accurate sequences of button presses but here timing is very important.

A deceptively tricky ryhthmic running game with amazing sounds and visuals. Unlike a lot of these runner games, this game isn't endless. Instead, it is broken up into well designed levels that get more and more challenging the further you progress. This is a tough game and great for people who like a challenge. It can get frustrating at times as some of the levels require near-perfect timing but when you beat these levels, you get a real sense of accomplishment, unlike a lot of games these days that hold your hand and walk you from start to completion. I would compare this to the Super Meat Boy of runner-style games.
