OFFICIAL LADDER, CHAMPIONS CUP & LADDER PLAYOFFS
Season 8 has started, and I would like to highlight some of the changes implemented this season for competitions. Following a successful testing period, we have officially integrated Sprint Rankings into the game. You now have access to both the General Rankings and the Sprint Rankings, each featuring faction-specific filters. While the General Rankings remain the classic rankings you are accustomed to, encompassing every match played by a team, the Sprint Rankings only consider a team’s first 20 matches. Note that matchmaking rules are stricter for these initial 20 matches, ensuring greater fairness and protection for teams competing in the Sprint Rankings. Over successive seasons, we’ve recognized that there are numerous ways to enjoy Blood Bowl, and our philosophy is straightforward: rather than striving for a one-size-fits-all solution that satisfies nobody fully, we aim to empower players to experience Blood Bowl in their preferred manner. Sprint Rankings offer an engaging environment at lower TV, featuring a fixed number of matches where random skill acquisition carries significant risks. Conversely, General Rankings allow players to fully develop their teams in a sandbox environment with minimal restrictions. This approach will continue evolving to ensure the best possible player experience, incorporating new features planned for upcoming seasons, such as the introduction of Redraft. For the elite among you, we have decided to split the Champions Cup into two distinct competitions:- The Champions Cup will remain accessible exclusively through the Sprint Rankings, bringing together the season’s top performers in a resurrection format, with custom teams built according to a specific ruleset.
- The Official Playoffs have returned, available exclusively through the General Rankings. This competition gathers the season’s top performers based on General Rankings, played with teams that continue progressing throughout the tournament.
