Über das Spiel

Step aboard the HMHS Britannic, the third ship in the Olympic Class trio, who, like her older sister the Titanic, was cheated of a promising career. This ship has never been properly recreated before, and no one has seen her in this state since she sailed the Mediterranean. Now, as the result of extensive research by our team and leading Britannic historians, you can explore her and learn about her like never before.

BRITANNIC: PATRONESS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN is a virtual museum-like experience, where the user can explore the ship at their own pace and discover details about its story, architecture, and contributions to the First World War. This is primarily a learning environment, packed full of history.

Macht lust auf Me(e)(h)r

It does what it is supposed to do. People who are complaining about the sinking experience or the accessibility of spaces, miss out how incredibly accurate many details are. It's like having museum access with extras. The price fits.

Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean

The visuals are beautiful, you can do amazing views with the free cam and it never gets old. The sinking is a very important thing for a game like this, it really shows you what people saw when the ship was sinking. my only problem is that there isn't that much to explore. Overall, this game is fantastic and i highly recommend.

Dont expect many interiors and good optimization.

Its mostly just outside of the ship, with few selected interiors, yet its still nice to walk on the outside of the ship. There are also tons of info boxes with details, so... its not the best game, but its worth its price and worth a try, if you like those ships.

It is a really good game but I do think the water physics could be a bit better. I don't like that you can just walk on the water as it kind of gets rid of the idea of being able to survive the sinking.

I thought this would be the same as the Titanic experience, but how wrong was I... the level of immersion from being on board this ship whilst it is sinking in real time is genuinely terrifying!

If the crew and passengers were onboard with a good level of AI, along with all areas being accessible and more interactivity being in place, this experience would go from great to mindblowing.

Highly recommend but hope that further work is done on it.

Ello! So I purchased this around 30 minutes ago and I'm having a blast. The graphics are unreal, and the gameplay is insane. The tour is really cool, aswell is the sinking part of the game. However, why can't you go into the rooms and such during the sinking like the grand staircase? That leaves you trapped in one part of the ship if you're stuck there when the water floods it. But other than that, great game. 9/10, would recommend.

Amazing recreation of the HMHS Britannic. Both its sinking, and how it looked before. And also how it might have been had it become RMS Britannic. Worth a look. Though, I might suggest you wait for a sale. Especially, if like me, you don't have VR.

I do agree with what most of these comments are saying. I personally agree that the game seems a tad bit unpolished, that it could use a bit more to really feel like a true digital museum sort of thing. I think the game is lovely, but it does seem to lack certain things like collision and bug fixing that would really bring it out. As of now, if you're interested in buying it for the experience I would buy it now while it's on sale, but if you're looking to support the dev team behind it I would buy it at full price. The team is working on something more and it would be cool if you supported it lol.

Its nice to look at, But that's as far as it goes for me. Gameplay is almost non existent and although I am a ship enthusiast, Unless you are buying this game to support the development of the upcoming Titanic Honor and Glory game I don't think this is worth 12 euros on steam. Although the choice is yours if you want to give it a go then feel free but its a no for me.

However I Have A Slight Complaint I'm Not 100% Happy That During The Sinking The Third Funnel Falls First Then The First, Second And Fourth Funnel Follow. I'm Pretty Sure I'll Be Happier If It's Like The Titanic when The First Funnel Falls, Then The Second, The Third And Fourth Funnel. Thanks.

Let me start out by saying this is not a Game its a Simulator for people who have fallen in love with the Olympic class liners. While it is lacking in certain ways such as not being able to explore the whole inside of the ship it makes up for it with beautiful graphics and being able to watch her slip beneath the sea. The devs have been working on a Titanic Sim called Titanic Honor and Glory which is equally breathtaking, in Titanic Honor and Glory you can walk through allot of the ship but there is no sinking just yet. I can see that the devs are spending all of their time on the Titanic sim. You can find the demo by just searching for it, its totally free even a VR version same as Britannic. This review is for Non VR. Watching her slip beneath the waves is an emotional experience for me since I know the history of the ship. I would recommend this sim to anybody that loves ships and the Olympic class liners. Now for optimisation how it runs: I have a high end system R9 3950x and an RTX3090 and I play Ultra settings on a 1440p display, it runs very smooth. I got under 60fps during the sinking but everywhere else it was above 70fps. You won't even notice it running under 60fps because you aren't looking for it, you will be amazed at the graphics more than anything else. I would loved to have taken a tour of the inside of the ship but I can appreciate that the devs were working on multiple projects at the same time so I consider this gem a bonus for us lovers of ships. You should only consider this if you are a die hard ship lover and lover of Olympic class liners, the negative reviews amaze me because its a sim not a Game. There is no purpose to this except to appreciate the beauty and mechanical wonder of these great liners. If you see yourself as one of these people pick it and give it a try.

I'll be honest this is a truly magical experience. I have played since release day on and off and every time it has sent shivers down my spine. I'm not just saying this because I am a fan of the project, I'm saying it because I truly believe it.

The games graphics, SFX and music are second to none and have a really warm feel to them in exploring mode, this really allows you to experience the ship as it was/should have been. Similarly, when you enter the sinking mode it allows you realise the peril of the situation. This may seem soppy but in night time free cam the music and graphics (along with that stunning skybox) gets me everytime - wonderful.

Now alot of people where hoping for a full fledged game and I know this isnt one, however it is possibly the best walking sim out there. The fact they say they may update the game with more gameplay/interior space in the future shows the devs care and that I must commend.

Nice work :D

Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2

You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/03z6i7_5VnY

I think this experience is a great deal at the current sale price of $8.24 USD. This is an incredibly detailed recreation of the Britannic. It really does bring the ship back to life through the magic of virtual reality. Keep in mind, this is a strictly educational / historical experience. The only experience is being on the ship, there are no interactions of any kind, other than being able to walk around the exterior (top deck) and some of the interior rooms of the ship.

You do have full locomotion and snap turning. The game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, on cinematic quality (highest), I was getting about 50-60 frames per second. That is on the low side, however, it did not effect my enjoyment of the experience at all. I did experience this on the Oculus Quest 2, using the Oculus link cable.

The visuals are excellent for the most part, especially on the interior rooms. However, the areas are quite small and there's only a few places to visit. You can visit the entire exterior (top deck) of the ship, but there are many rooms you won't be able to enter. There's only a few places you can actually get into. Gates will open automatically for you once you're near them and you just kinda drop or climb from stairs in an unnatural way.

I want to estimate that you can visit every room and do everything in about 2 hours, assuming you're doing so to fully enjoy the experience and not trying to speed run it. So there isn't a lot of content. I will say that the ambient ship sounds are excellent. However, the waves and the horizon are pretty poor quality, especially compared to everything else. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in this historic ship.

Rate 7/10.

I really wanted to like it. Wish it would have interiors before and after WW1 instead you see 3 things max before and only some hospital beds outside after. You cant roam the ship free either you only can do it with cut scenes.
It would sound very creepy but I also wanted to see the ship sink to the bottom, not just hit the water.
Great idea but results could be way better.

Very Good Game I knew it was coming out for several months and when it appeared on steam I HAD TO GET IT
I'm most impressed with the graphics with the exception with circular objects having that somewhat hex shape to them the graphics are as if I were on the ship in real life and the music they chose for the exterior exploration is the best i ever seen for a game like this for some reason it puts me in a drinking vibe especially when it gets dark and the ship lights come on and that awesome sky view as for the sinking I like there is now music so I can play what ever music I desire for example in the final plunge I played Sia Breathe Me a perfect song for the final plunge but I do hope they make the interior accessable during the sinking or add an escape mode so you can see the effects in the interior such as the dome in the forward and aft Grand Stair Case like the escape mode in Fall Of The Titanic .
And as for the interactive gaming Game just called Britannic nothing was done right not even all the funnels fell it was like they released the game in a hurry and got every thing just a little wrong now that this Epic Game is out that other game is no doubt GONNA FAIL.
and one more thing about the sinking I wish the engine noises in the time being were the same as in the Real Time Sinking them guys made.
Anyhoo I strongly recommend this game to all.

had the interiors in the exploration mode been connected it would have been worthwhile. This would have required rooms that are directly equivalent to ones present in demo 3 and as such couldnt have been too difficult to implement at least for the Rms Mode, the only one that could be considered a strech to request is scotland road wich would have connected to boiler room 6, though you could have either made it acessible in the exterior model trough the ladder or simply put a teleporter in the door that would have brought you to scotland road, of wich im sure no one would have minded if it was the only instance of this. there have also been suggestions that this will not be fixed in patches, wich would be reason enough in my book to not buy this game when demo 3 was free, only reason im keeping this is because i want to see this in vr when i manage to save up for it and even then, it will probably be a done deal after than.
The audio design is very good tho

First of all: This is not a game in the conventional sense. It is rather a simulation of the sinking of the HMHS Britannic on Nov. 21, 1916 off the Greek island of Kea and also a walk-in digital museum of this beautiful Olympic Class ship. Also included is a model of the RMS Britannic in a what-if post-war version from 1919 in the usual White Star Line colour scheme.

As far as I can judge so far, the developers of this simulation have succeeded in creating a historically accurate image of the Britannic. In any case, I have not noticed any discrepancies when researching in books and on the Internet. And this is very important to me, because I use this program mainly as a reference for my model building project of a conversion of the Titanic to the Britannic.

5/5 stars... white stars of course! :)

-

I think this was a major miss.

I was stoked about this game -- and I am still stoked about the main Titanic project -- but Britannic: POTM didn't deliver.

Here's what I liked: the graphics are superb, the animations realistic, and the player movement system well put together (little clipping).

Here's what I didn't like: why is each room a separate menu option? Players should be able to move throughout the ship from one room to another. I understand that the entirety of the interior was not the goal of this project, nor did I expect it to be, but the fact that I can't go from the grand staircase to the pool without multiple loading screens is unacceptable. Model a couple hallways or something. Additionally, the sinking is extremely underwhelming. The developers ignored the entirety of what makes the sinking fun to play: watching the water rise. For example: we're promised a grand staircase but only get it in its static form. In its current state, the sinking is an entirely external affair. You cannot enter ANY interior during the sinking. This too is unacceptable. I should be able to see the water go up each stair, flood the hallways, etc. Luckily, there's a $3 Britannic game that already does the same thing this game does (external sinking). Severely disappointing. Lastly: how are you going to make a game about a sinking ship and include no swimming or drowning system? Here's what happens when you touch the water: you stand on top of it. That's it. And that too is unacceptable.
Considering you can get a similar sinking experience from a game 80% cheaper, and considering the museum mode (while impressive graphically) has HUGE problems with loading times, navigation through menus, and the fact that it feels unfinished, I would wait for a steep discount following updates from Vintage Digital before purchasing.

Let me finish by saying this: I truly, seriously wanted to love this game. I have been following the development of Titanic HG for years, and this was Vintage Digital Revival's first opportunity to show us, the fans, that they can deliver. But instead, this unfinished, unpolished, game makes me much more weary about the future of what they can produce.
