This game is ludicrously fun and quirky. Absolutely nothing in this game is resemblance of logic and common sense and the game is sure to make you laugh all through the ending credits due to sheer nonsensical characters and environments being infused. It's certainly a much less complex game in terms of mechanics and is no where near as difficult to complete, except for few glitches I have noticed here and there that is the only thing I didn't like. You control a female protagonist while the central theme and everything , even for you to progress in the game revolves around Buddies ! Buddies were designed to be replacements for Humans after the world was remade. They're the small, naked men that run around the islands. Buddies are the only known source of FUN and you'll be using them to accumulate that important substance. A group of three buddies playing musical instruments will greet you shortly after you begin the game. Known collectively as 'The Band', they give you some guidance throughout the game along with occasionally bizarre pieces of insight. By walking up behind a Buddy, you can give them a swift kick to the backside. Contrary to what you might think, the Buddies actually love it! Kicking them will send them flying and produce small quantities of FUN. If you kick Buddies too many times, they'll start floating up into the sky and explode! Luckily, they're not dead. By throwing bits of debris into the Sinkhole, new Buddies will be born from the volcano. You can also bring items from earth's stratosphere to make dear gravity centered all across your sandbox in which you are playing game from absolutely nowhere out of skies such as Iceberg, Ship, Big Ben, Skyscraper, UFO, Statue of Liberty, Train, Earth Axis, Collider, Comet. You'll enjoy Cargo much more if you just relax and have a good time. There's no time constraints, enemies, or anything else stressful to worry about. Experiment with vehicles, try new things, enjoy it, and have FUN!

Cargo! is just not good. It's a bizarre game with some janky vehicle creation and little else. While there are minuscule hints of it being made by the creators of Pathologic and The Void, it's honestly too little to bother with. I can't see any reason to keep playing this or recommend it to someone else.

This game makes me feel like I'm living in an acid trip. The game play is intuitive and compulsive, meaning you actually want to finish the game and it is not too difficult to do so.

Cargo! is Ice Pick Lodge's only misfire, but still what a misfire it is!
As they claimed, they were tired of making grim and tense games for ten years straight, and their lead writer and ideologist, Nikolay Dybowski, felt burnt out, so they decided to go for something lighter.

Right...

How do I describe this?

Imagine Psychonauts, but it's all real, and it's the end of the world, and it's carnival.

Among the features of this game are:
1.Vehicle constructor predating Besiege or Crossout - for ground, air, water and underwater traversal machines.
2.Music system: set up a clef, and the 'buddies' will dance to it, radiating happiness which is a resource you collect. And - you can import your own music too! If you want them to dance to viking metal or Marie Laforet - feel free.
3.Dropping world-famous landmarks from orbit. Gravity works inconsistently, things go up in the air, and it's your job to drop them down, thus changing seasons and progressing the plot. When Big Ben wheezes through the air and breaks the ice, you feel something you probably wouldn't feel otherwise.

All of this - to wonderfully trippy music, in colorfully sureal surroundings and to goofy lyrics of a buddy orchestra.

Funniest thing is: underneath all its unrelenting craziness and merrymaking, Cargo! in a way is akin to Godard's Contempt. It's a tired groan of a studio and a writer who tried to make serious art in 2000-2010 videogame industry. The demiurges reset the Earth because they felt humans were too grim and sad and thought too much. They decided to replace humanity with 'buddies', thoughtless endorphin junkies, who just can't help to be happy, spend their time searching for ways to entertain themselves, go up exploding with happiness when the entertainment proves to be too much and hurl themselves into dangerous turbines just to see what happens. Anyone getting typical AngelOfDeath2010 behavoir flashbacks? In the Russian version these buddies have a second name - gnobs, which refers simultaneously to the word 'gnome' and to the Russian verb 'гнобить' which has no direct counterpart in English, but encompasses meanings such as: 'humiliate', 'irritate', 'get down', 'nag', 'judge', etc. So, you get the picture. And, by the way (spoliers)
the world ends in everything being recycled into pure happiness.
Personally, I don't believe this layer does the game a good service - it's resentful, it's trite, it shines through the paint everywhere, and I believe Cargo! would be so much better without it - just pure craziness and carnival.
But oh, well - I guess sometimes your feelings get the better of you.

Try it or don't try it - whatever, but Ice Pick Lodge's other games - DO try. They are all good.

It's all YOUR fault.

How does one even begin to describe this game? Where the two Pathologic games, The Void, and Knock-knock are all experiences designed to test the human psyche in a more overtly negative fashion, Cargo! sheds that reputation seemingly.
Pathologic through literary influence combined with survival mechanics was designed to make your own moral code crumble or at least reform in the wretched, heart-still-beating remains of a dying Town, and subvert the entire notion of not just interactive media, but the attachment we form to art and the characters within art.
The Void felt more inspired by paintings and poetry than novels or plays, but still, a deeply artistic experience. This was stress induced by one's time running out - a final spurt of creation before you finally die, your final acts as a living being one as a creator, your own blood the ink or the paint, your own flesh the canvas. A stressful, nightmarish, and cathartic experience.
Knock-knock was a shorter, sweeter game - cutesy art style, terrifying environs, and repetitive motions made it feel as though your house was being invaded by something - a game rooted deep in the invisible fears of the pits of the human psyche.
So, now that we've got all that dreadfully serious stuff out of the way, what does Cargo! seem to be about? Ostensibly, it's about kicking fat dwarves in the butt and collecting the music that falls from the sky as they fly away.
Hrm. Seemingly a thematic change.
The music represents FUN, an element that Ice-Pick Lodge have always tried to combat or display in a manner in which we are not well acquainted. But now FUN appears in abundance - Cargo! is just outwardly ridiculous. It doesn't know how physics work - if the Earth stopped spinning, gravity would not stop - but I don't think Cargo! cares. You can use FUN, the new gravity of this weird Earth, to call the Statue of Liberty back to us, and kick buddies into it. You can also build weird boats, planes, or cars, or even submarines. The game is earnest fun, and the game knows it.
The biggest flaws of Cargo! lie in the fact that there is one level for each vehicle type, really, allowing for perhaps slight overlap. But the vehicle controls, especially in the air or those damn submarine levels, are not especially intuitive. It is a struggle to command the vehicles, even though you are having an oddly earnest and fun time doing it. Games are - they say - meant to be FUN. And Cargo! is filled with FUN, straight to the brim. So I can recommend it on those grounds.
Perhaps Cargo! says more than it ostensibly appears, though. And of course, it would not be an Ice-Pick Lodge game without that undercurrent of subversion. The genre of video game is not subverted nearly enough, so it was heartening to see that twist in the tail that always comes with their games, and the twists which I can never predict. So I shall not spoil what happens in the climactic scenes of Cargo!, in the hopes that fans of Pathologic, however few or many of those exist in the world these days, find their way to Cargo! and see a different side to Ice-Pick Lodge. Shed of literary tradition, Cargo! knows it is a game - but its technological and even religious roots are surprising and, most of all - Cargo! is genuinely silly, fun, and wacky. It is enjoyable for its own sake. So hell: what more recommendation do you need?

This game is very surrelist. You want to know how? Well, your a mechanic on a earth that has messed up gravity, and the only people who can fix it are nude and when their happy, they are resistant to gravity's effect. Also, weird talking masks considered god.

The weirdity of this game is what makes it interesting. There is not much else for me to say about this game due to it's weirdness, but it does have some different enviroments to explore, and some puzzles later in the game.

There is also a build mode where you can build your own vehicles in the game, which is really cool, if you have enough parts to actually make the things you want. You can build anything basically and up to your imagination what you want to build, but if you don't want to, the game provides blueprints also to help those that need a hand.

Recommended just for weirdness and custom vehicle building.

Nice game to just experience and enjoy its sheer different way of going about the gameplay experience it provides the interacter.

Too bad we got too many preconceptions of how a game should play, look and progress to give a decent shot to efforts like this that stray from the established norm.
