Netter kurzer Puzzleplattformer. Im Sale gibts das für 0.49€. Dafür definitiv eine Empfehlung.
Für den vollen Preis von 4.99€ ist es mit etwa zwei Stunden zu kurz.

Contra:
- Extrem kurz: ich brauchte nicht mal zwei Stunden zum Durchspielen
- Steuerung manchmal schwammig. Man merkt, dass es ursprünglich ein mobile game ist.

Pro:
- Die Schnecke ist süß

- Die Zeitmechaniken fand ich spaßig

Sehr knuffiges Jump and Run, die Story ist süß, wenn jetzt auch nicht besonders tiefgründig, und die Charaktere sind super gelungen, alles in allem ein super Spiel welches man problemlos an einen Abend durchspielen kann.

Ein 2D Puzzle Platformer mit Zeit Manipulation

Story

Ein Erfinder und sein Mentor haben ein Artefakt entdeckt/erfunden was in Falsche Hände Böse Auswirkungen haben könnte. Der Mentor nahm das Artefakt an sich und wurde Wahnsinnig und die Welt stürzte ins Chaos während der Erfinder einfach fort ging.

Gameplay

Wir spielen den Erfinder der in die Vergangenheit zurück reisen möchte um seinen Fehler zu korigieren. Bald trifft er auf eine Schnecke die ebenfalls Negative Erfahrungen mit dem Mentor erlebt hat und die beiden machen sich Gemeinsam auf den Weg den Mentor zu stoppen. Es gibt 8 Level/Kapitel in denen wir verschiedene Rätsel lösen müssen. Wir können bzw. müssen hierbei von der Gegenwart in die Vergangenheit switchen oder die Zeit komplett anhalten um Puzzle zu lösen. Oftmals müssen wir die Fähigkeiten der Charaktere verbinden (Schnecke hält die Zeit an und Erfinder wechselt in die Vergangenheit um über Hindernisse zu kommen oder Gegenstände aufzunehmen). Die Rätsel sind relativ einfach und schnell lösbar. Die Animationen & die Musik sind dabei Hervorragend.

Chronology is a platform game that grants you the ability to manipulate time. Its worthy of being purchased by all fans of puzzle games. You start adventuring as an old man and are soon joined by a young snail. You will need to switch between those both characters with different abilities. The old man can change time to future and present, the snail can stop time. You can take different items to combine them in different times. The Puzzles arent really complicated.

Now the negative about it: I guess the game isnt tested very well because it happens that i take steps which werent meant to be like this on one part it was impossible to continue the game with what i did. Sometimes it didnt trigger the events and i was running around for long times till i looked up a walkthrough and figured out that the game is just not working. One Part in Chapter 6..i couldnt pick up the flower anymore to give it to the old Lady. It needed 2 chapter restarts till it finally worked. Another Part was by fixing the saw..it didnt combine the 2 Parts..so another Chapter restart. Next Part in Chapter 7 i jump up to the Hook and it wont fall down after around 50 Jumps and restarting the chapter and replay everything i gave up..till im on another computer and see how it is working there. And Blackscreens by some videos sequences.

Still i recommend this game it has nice mechanics and a good idea. The Price is worth it.

Irgendwie fesselt mich das Spiel nicht. Habe zwar nur wenige Minuten gespielt, aber es war einfach nur langweilig. Das mit der Schnecke ist zwar ganz süß aber der alte Mann langweilt mich einfach.
Grafik ist ok. Soundtrack gefällt mir sehr gut.

Ein wirklich sehr gelungenes Puzzlespiel.Das Spiel fesselt eine von Anfang an und ist aber immer fair.Leider recht kurz aber trotzdem zu empfehlen! Wer etwas für zwischendurch sucht,sollte sich das Spiel mal genauer anschauen.

Die Schnecke ist natürlich der Knaller!

Dieses Spiel hat mich wundervolle 3 Stunden vor den PC gefesselt. Es hat schöne Grafik, Musik und eine kleine aber tolle Story. Es war jeden Cent wert. Die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten durch Wechseln in Vergangenheit und Zukunft sowie anhalten der Zeit wurden genial umgesetzt. Dabei ist das Spiel nicht einfach wie anfangs gedacht, sondern wird zum Ende hin echt knifflig.
Ein perfektes Spiel.
Klare Empfehlung.

Was haben ein alter Mann, eine sprechende Schnecke und Zeitreisen miteinander zu tun? Nun, sie stellen allesamt tragende Elemente im neuen Indie-Adventure Chronology dar. In liebevollem Zeichenstil verpackt dürft ihr in diesem Greenlight-Titel aus dem Hause osao games wechselweise in der Rolle eines alten Erfinders und bereits erwähnter Schnecke allerlei Rätsel und Sprung-Passagen meistern.

Der betagte Herr erwacht alleine bei strömendem Regen in einer düsteren, trostlosen Gegend, ohne irgendeine Erinnerung, wie er in diese missliche Situation gelangt ist. Einem vertrauten Ticken folgend entdeckt er kurz darauf eine seiner Erfindungen: Eine Taschenuhr, mit der es möglich ist, zwischen der Gegenwart und Vergangenheit zu wechseln. Diese Fähigkeit gekonnt einzusetzen, wird dem Spieler auch sogleich im nächsten Level abverlangt. Sprungeinlagen, die nur mithilfe der Zeitreise schaffbar sind stehen ebenso auf dem Plan wie gewitzte Rätselpassagen, die von der gelungen umgesetzten Spielmechanik Gebrauch machen.

Ziel des Spiels ist es, die verwüstete Gegenwart wieder in Ordnung zu bringen. Wie sich herausstellt, ist unser namenloser Ingenieur nämlich garnicht so unschuldig am aktuellen Zustand der Spielwelt. Tatkräftige Unterstützung erhält er bei diesem Vorhaben vor allem von einer freundlichen, sprechenden Riesenschnecke, die er während seiner Reise am Wegesrand aufliest. Wäre ein quatschendes Weichtier nicht schon kurios genug, kann der sympathische Begleiter auf Knopfdruck sogar die Zeit anhalten.

Wobei Knopfdruck hier ein gutes Stichwort ist: Die Steuerung ist sehr eingängig und simpel, die jeweilige Spezialfähigkeit der beiden Helden wird durch einen einzigen Tastendruck eingesetzt. Zwischen den Charakteren kann ebenso einfach gewechselt werden und ansonsten bedient sich Chronology dem typischen Jump’n’Run-Standard, um die Sprungpassagen bewältigen zu können.

Das etwa dreistündige Abenteuer wird durch den angenehmen Soundtrack und den wunderschönen, bunten Zeichenstil der Assets auch zu einem audio-visuellem Erlebnis. Leider scheint das Spiel intern auf eine Auflösung von gerade einmal 1280×720 festgelegt zu sein, was vor allem dem Standard heutiger PC-Spiele nicht mehr entspricht. Im Vollbildmodus sieht das Spiel auf 1080p- oder gar 1440p-Bildschirmen daher leider unschön verschwommen aus; eventuell wird hier aber ja noch nachgebessert. Ansonsten nutzt das Spiel die Features der Steamworks-Umgebung bis auf die Spielstand-Cloud leider nicht, Achievement-Hunter und Kartensammler werden außenvor gelassen.

Chronology is a 2d platformer with simple time manipulation. You're as an old inventor with your friend Snail, travel among ruins of civilization after (and before) the technological disaster.

I'd wish to call this game a good and short journey for children, for example. But because of puzzles which have no logic, I'll not to do it. Awful riddles as if came from point and click from 2000s. I'll describe one moment: you have to buy the ticket to the elevator, but the cashier speaks on the phone, and she doesn't even notice us. So… [spoiler] We need to stand up on a snail shell in the past, jump on the wardrobe, cut off the flower there, then plant the flower in the pot. After we have to stand up again on platform near the first flower position and jump aside. While jump, we must change timeline and try to grab the wire of ceiling light in the present. Then use this wire on the plant in present, take its tooth and with this tooth cut the phone wire outside. After that we need to cut off this flower again in the past and give it to cashier in present. [/spoiler] And only after this we'll get the ticket to ride. As you see, everything is intuitive and understandable. We will encounter such moments two or three times. Instead of simple go through guards as we have time-stopping abilities.

Low-resolutioned textures doesn't look good on the full screen.

The biggest part of my walkthrough time I wasted looking for answers of another mad riddle.
Chronology doesn't fell like the whole standalone game. Don't recommend it to anybody. 2d-platformer lovers or puzzle-solvers easily will find something better.

Chronology is a 2D Puzzle Platformer where you play as the Inventor who uses his watch to switch between 'Before' and 'After' states. By switching between these states, items and certain platforms can become available, and they make up much of the platforming and puzzle aspects of the game.
You will eventually meet the Snail which can act as an additional platform from which you can use to jump from to reach certain locations along with its own unique time ability.

The game isn't very long and while a few puzzles were a little tricky to figure out, it's an overall solid game and I quite enjoyed it. Visuals and music are nice as well.

You play as an Old Man and a Snail, solving platforming puzzles. The Old Man can jump, and shift between the present and the future, as well as summon the Snail to his location. The Snail can climb on surfaces and freeze time. The variety and creativity of the puzzles you need to get through is all very impressive, and it's fun solving them. I was wary of this game because of how many mediocre review scores it seems to have, but it's a solid game. Super short, but it goes on sale for 90% off all the time so just pick it up when it's cheap and you'll get your money's worth.

A cute short puzzle platformer game that was a nice break from some of the more intense games I play and/or stream. I appreciate the voice acting in it. The art work was pleasant and aestheically pleasing, not too distracting or overbearing. The puzzles weren't particularly difficult at all. Made for a relaxing 2 hours.

As the name suggest this game involves something to do with time. You play as a gnome who needs to travel to the past and future to restore the present. You have a trusty snail partner to help you in your time quest. Beautiful graphics and an easy to play puzzle-platform adventure game.

I didn't quite finish the game, but I was almost through.
The game feels sloppy and feels slow even in the main menu. Animations take way too long.
The puzzles themselves range from too easy to moderate.
The story is about 3 hours long and didn't keep me interested at all.

Luckily, you get the game for free quite often.

Chronology is an adventure platformer developed by Bedtime Digital Games.

Gameplay / Story

Brief memory loss is generally a popular narrative medium and the nameless protagonist of Chronology suffers from it at the beginning. Fortunately, memories quickly return and the little gnome realizes that civilization was almost entirely wiped out by one of his inventions, which was abused by his old mentor. But since, as a researcher of the world, he has a time machine with him, this is actually not as unbelievably tragic as you first suspect. He quickly makes it his goal to save the world as it should be for a decent hero. The only problem is that he has woken up in the middle of the wilderness and has to overcome numerous dangers before he can get to the capital and thus to his invention.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't tear up trees and prefers to rely on solidity, which is not improved by the rather mediocre speakers. Fortunately, the gameplay is more convincing. Because the little guy can travel around in time, some interesting puzzles and situations arise. Do you have to aim high in the present? Then just travel into the past and plant a flower there that will later sprout gigantic blossoms. That would have been an example of the simple puzzles at the beginning of the Odyssey, but a few more elements are added later - one of them not only likes to babble, but also likes to slime around in the truest sense of the word.

Chronology ist ein Abenteuer-Plattformer, welcher von Bedtime Digital Games entwickelt wurde.

Gameplay / Geschichte

Kurzzeitiger Gedächtnisverlust ist generell ein beliebtes Erzählungsmittel und auch der namenlose Protagonist von Chronology leidet zu Beginn darunter. Glücklicherweise kehren die Erinnerungen jedoch schnell wieder zurück und dem kleinen Gnom wird klar, dass die Zivilisation durch eine seiner Erfindungen, die von seinem alten Mentor missbraucht wurde, beinahe gänzlich ausgelöscht wurde. Da er aber als Forscher von Welt eine Zeitmaschine dabei hat, ist das eigentlich gar nicht so unglaublich tragisch, wie man zuerst vermutet. Schnell macht er es sich so zum Ziel die Welt zu erretten, wie es sich eben für einen anständigen Helden gehört. Problematisch ist dabei nur, dass er mitten in der Wildnis aufgewacht ist und er zahlreiche Gefahren überwinden muss, bis er in die Hauptstadt und damit zu seiner Erfindung gelangen kann.

Die Story reißt leider keine Bäume aus und verlässt sich lieber auf Solides, was durch die eher mittelmäßigen Sprecher auch nicht besser wird. Zum Glück kann das Gameplay dagegen mehr überzeugen. Dadurch, dass der kleine Kerl in der Zeit umher reisen kann, entstehen einige interessante Rätsel und Situationen. Müsst ihr in der Gegenwart hoch hinaus? Dann reist doch einfach in die Vergangenheit und pflanzt dort eine Blume ein, die später gigantische Blüten sprießen lässt. Das wäre nun ein Beispiel für die simplen Rätsel zu Beginn der Odyssee gewesen, doch später kommen noch einige weitere Elemente hinzu – eines davon plappert nicht nur gerne, sondern schleimt im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes auch gerne mal rum.

This *could be* a really nice game. But there are two things bothering me:

First of all, the game is really buggy. By accident I managed to get myself into several situations that I found no way out again other than to close the game and start again from the beginning of the chapter. And again. And again.
- Once, I tried to do a jump from snail's back that resulted in endless spawning and immediately dying because of falling down which made the whole game window flicker like it was on drugs.
- Another time, I did an unlucky jump on a cannon ball and ended up caged between the structures where there was no way out again.
- And I also ended up on places with my snail where I couldn't get out again.
- Also, there's no option to just normally end and quit the game. One has to close the game using the windows task bar....
In my opinion, these things should not happen... and at least not so many of them.
Second, I found the old man not very sympathetic. I did not like the way he talked to the snail and also I was sorry for what happened to the boy.

I really enjoyed the different layers of time and switching between the characters.

If I could rate this game by stars, I would give 3.5/5 stars by now. Since that's not possible on Steam and I think that something should be done to fix the bugs I experienced I cannot recommend this game.
If there were no bugs, the game would get 4,5/5 stars from me.

This is a fun, no-pressure, thinking gamer's platforming game. You get to play a time-bending artificer with an animal side-kick in a side scrolling puzzle game with notes of a visual novel.
Great game, albeit short. I only wish it had trophies.

Would be a great game if the last level didn't just abandon the timetravel mechanics completely and made you do timed jumping puzzles to ramp up the challenge. Also the game is a little short with only 2 hours of gameplay. But the 2 time zones you can travel between and the time stop make for a enjoyable little game.

P.S.: The voice of the snail is really annoying.

Short fun game, controls are a bit clunky but it's good for just passing the time. Good beginner puzzle game for kids.

Frankly, I expected more from this game, having previously read the very positive steam reviews.
I liked the concept of solving puzzles by time traveling, which changes the environment around you.
But, I didn't find the game quite fun. It gets kinda boring quickly, and when you lose concentration, you get frustrated by a few puzzles which are far fetched. They can be solved only in 1 specific way.
I presume it helps to play this game not at once, but bit by bit, over a few days.
I liked the hand drawn graphics.
It is too short and it lacks variety and content.
If you want to buy, do that only when on sale.

I played through this game once, and have just picked it up here and there since then. I really enjoyed the game, the stories, the art, and the puzzles. Definitely recommend!

This is a rely nice game to play. did think its going to be easy, but you have to think in this game. Well done to the inventors of this game.

Criminally under-rated puzzle-platformer

Yes, it's short -- 8 levels, each with only a few central puzzles.
Yes, you can't skip cut-scenes -- but they're only 30-45s at the start of each level.
Yes, the puzzles are sometimes a little tough -- but each one is quite different and unique. The puzzles are the main draw here.
Yes, the platformer controls can get frustrating -- but there's only one all-platformer sequence, near the end, and you don't restart the whole level if you die.
Yes, the story is a bit thin and trite -- but it's fine.

Overall, Chronology is just quirky and fun in all the right/rare ways. It's not a Braid knockoff, it's doing its own interesting thing, and it's damn good at it.
