Also an sich ein sehr angenehmes Spiel und gerade die Musik ist sehr GUT!
Zwar gab es technische Probleme aber ich bin für mein Führerschein Bereit!

Gedacht schon ein guter Auto Fahr Simulator, Irrtum, hat sehr viele Fehler, die Repariert werden müssten, ua:

- Sehr Pingelige Strafen, 1 km/h zu viel wird schon bestraft mit 10 km/h zu viel
- 50 km/h Straßen, darf man keine glatte 50 km/h fahren, dies schon als 10 km/h zu schnell, oft mals 45 km/h dort schon zu schnell
- Kraftfahrstraße / Landstraße oftmals weniger als 50 Erlaubt
- Autobahn kann man auch niemals Richtgeschwindigkeit fahren, nur so maximal 90-100 km/h, oftmals auch langsam dort Unterwegs
- Dumme Auto Fahr KI, die bei Unfällen nicht herum fährt oder Umfällen Ausweicht, da kann man dann ewig Warten bis es weiter geht
- Landstraßen / Kraftfahrstraßen die sich Kreuzen, muss man plötzlich von 90-100 km/h voll in die Eisen gehen und Vorfahrt gewähren
- Ziemlich unlogischer und unrealistischer Routen Planer, oft mit stellen zum Wenden an unmöglichen Stellen
- Kreisverkehr aus 2ter Fahrbahn Ausfahren nicht Erlaubt, obwohl es dafür eine Spur gibt
- Noch über Gelb fahren zählt als Rotlicht Verstoß
- Komisches Ampelsystem
- Gewisse Prüfungen schon zu Früh im Story Verlauf
- Oftmals zu wenig Geschwindigkeits Schilder, besonders auf der Autobahn
- Viele bugs, wo KI Autos plötzlich stocken, etwas jumpen oder zur Seite springen
- Man kann zu leicht Erkennen wenn ein Fußgänger auf der Fahrbahn rüber laufen wird
- Fußgänger läuft über einen Fußgänger Überweg, schon nahe zu drüben, auch weit entfernt, man könnte weiter fahren ohne ihn zu Bedrängen, aber dies wird bestraft
- Unmögliche Prüfungsfahrt, wenn man da links fahren muss Richtung Kreisverkehr hat man nahe zu keine Chance diese zu bestehen, Richtig schlechte Routen Planung dort
- Wenn man Abbiegen möchte kommen oft nahe zu unendlich viele KI Autos, was Abbiegen sehr schwer macht, wo man sehr lange Warten muss auf jemals eine Chance oder Lücke
- Neue Route kommt meist immer knapp vor einer Kreuzung, da steht dann Rechts Abbiegen, aber es geht nicht mehr, da man auf der Gerade aus Fahrspur sich befinden

Mein Fazit: Man kann es sich kaufen und spielen, muss man aber nicht, den es hat zu viele Fehler, die eigentlich behoben werden müssten, alles in einem zu pingelige Strafen, für mich keine 23,49€ Wert, sondern eher ein Trash Game für wenige Euros, macht kaum Spaß zu spielen, wenn man nur Rasen möchte, dann macht es wohl Spaß, oft muss man die Karte neu starten, Alles in einem ein sehr Enttäuschender Fahr Simulator, wäre es so gemacht wie American Truck Simulator oder Euro Truck Simulator 2, dann wäre es wohl richtig gut, aber so nur Note 4, ohne diese zu pingeligen Strafen und besserer Routenplaner wäre dieses Spiel schon um einiges Besser, so dann Note 2, aber so bleibt es bei Note 4, echt schade, hätte schon potenzial

Leider der einzigste Auto Fahr Simulator im Steam Store, bessere oder mehr Auswahl diesbezüglich wäre Wünschenswert

Nach knapp 3 Stunden Spielzeit in diesen Spiel, habe ich mir gedacht das ich eine kurze Rezension dalasse.
Ich finde persönlich sehr schwer über dieses Spiel zu urteilen, dazu am Ende mehr.
Trotzdem habe ich eine kleine Liste erstellt mit positiven und negativen Aspekten.

Positiv✅:
-Es unterstützt sogut wie alle Controller.
-Das Spiel ist sehr realistisch aufgebaut. Es gibt realistische Straßenereignisse etc. .
-Für dieses Spiel gibt es einen Workshop Bereich, wo man eine riesen Auswahl an Fahrzeugen hat.
-Es gibt zurzeit eine Erweiterung die auch kostenlos ist.
-Es besteht die Möglichkeit dieses Spiel in VR zu spielen
-Wenn man in kürze einen (Auto)Führerschein macht, lohnt sich das Spiel sehr!

Negativ❌:
-Die Grafik ist eher schlecht.
-Keine Multiplayer Funktion.
-Dieses Spiel lässt sich nicht gut mit der Tastatur bedienen (spielen), es wäre vorteilhaft ein Lenkrad mit Kupplung
und Gangschaltung zu besitzen!

Das waren auch schon meine positiven und negativen Aspekte zu diesen Spiel. Ich kann darüber wie schon in den ersten Sätzen dieser Rezension beschrieben nicht gut Urteilen. Das liegt daran das ich persönlich zwar ein Lenkrad besitze, jedoch besitze ich keine Kupplung mit Gangschaltung. Ohne diesen beiden Dinge lässt sich das Spiel sehr schlecht spielen meiner Meinung nach. Aus diesen Gründen kann ich auch nicht sagen ob ich das Spiel empfehle oder ob ich es eher nicht so empfehle. Trotzdem konnte ich negative und positive Aspekte auflisten, die vielleicht bei der Kaufentscheidung helfen. Ich persönlich gebe diesen Spiel trotzdem einen Daumen nach oben, weil ich das Spielerlebnis mit Kupplung etc. nicht kenne. Jedoch bleibt hier hinter der Nachricht kein Haken und kein Kreuz, sonder diesmal ein FRAGEZEICHEN. [❔]

City Car Driving ist echt ein gutes Spiel für jeden Autoliebhaber. Man kann selber entscheiden in welchen Bedingungen fahren kann. Ich finde City Car Driving könnte man auch als Lernprogramm für die Fahrschule benutzen, da es jeglicher Art von Gefahrensituationen zu Verfügung gibt, sei es dass Passanten auf einmal die Straßenseite wechseln, oder Notbremsung einen vorausfahrendem Auto. Das Spiel hat aber noch potential was Modding angeht. Ich persönlich würde es noch absolut feiern, wenn man auf verschiedenen Maps fahren könnte, da die Neue Stadt sowie die Alte Stadt schon langsam langweilig werde, da ich schon durch beide Städte komplett durchgefahren bin, und die Alte Stadt schon komplett auswendig kenne. Trotzdessen ist es echt ein klasse Spiel! Kann ich nur empfehlen!

VR-Modus ist genial. Spiel sieht gut aus, Fahrgefühl ist super. Macht viel Spass und man lernt was dabei. Mit Lenkrad zu spielen ist empfehlenswert.

Insgesamt ein sehr realistisches Spiel, gerade auch für Anfänger. Bis auf die Prüfungen, die zu streng bewertet werden, ist das Spiel super. Es gehört zu meinen Top 3 Lieblingsspielen. Empfehle es auf jeden Fall weiter.

Macht Spaß mit Sportwagen ohne Rücksicht auf Verluste durch die Stadt zu rasen und alles und jeden mitzunehmen. Aber als wirklicher Simulator um sich mit der Straße vertraut zu machen nicht empfehlbar. Weicht zu stark von der deutschen Straßenverkehrsordnung ab. Und da dies eigentlicher Zweck vom Entwickler war, gibt es keine Empfehlung.

I paid about $9 USD for this game and it's currently on sale for only $3 USD. This game is easily worth that and a whole lot more honestly. Yes, I do agree that it is a bit on the janky side, especially the VR support. However, there is no other game quite like it in VR. If you enjoy American Truck Simulator VR or Euro Truck Simulator VR, then this game is definitely for you. This is a pretty realistic car driving simulator with traffic conditions and with having to generally follow the rules of the road (that is optional though).

The most important thing I can tell you if you want to play this in VR is the following: you must play it in Non-VR first. You need to learn the controls outside of VR. Also, you need to look at the settings and enable VR from there. I suggest choosing the VR goggles and monitor option (NOT the VR goggles only option). Other than that, just make sure your VR headset is working.

You should also know that motion controllers are NOT supported. So you will need to learn KBM controls (because there are so many controls to memorize). However, once you know KBM, you can also use a gamepad or use the wheel support. You will probably need to mess with the settings and configure them manually although the default controls for the Xbox One gamepad works pretty well (I did change the mapping to enable honking by disabling the center camera option included in the mapping).

There's many options in settings and also the menu area. You can enable pedestrians, you can change vehicles, you can change time of day and the weather conditions or traffic conditions, or you can change from standard to automatic. Please note: I recommend standard if you're using an Xbox One gamepad because otherwise you'll need to remap the bindings to allow for automatic shifting (you still need to shift from park to drive and reverse).

Game is running on the Havoc Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps on my RTX 3080 on high graphical settings. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. However, there was an overall jankiness to the game. Including traffic not always acting normally. For example, I had a vehicle just totally drive through me while I was parked in a parking space. However, traffic does act reasonably well overall!

Honestly, this game is unique. I highly recommend it at the sale price. It's one of the better VR experiences if you can get it to work correctly. I heard there are issues with the Valve Index and WMR. I don't know, it seems to me that they should work fine since you're not using motion controllers. If the HTC Vive works, they should work as well on Steam VR.

Sale Price Rating 8/10. It is worth a lot more than $3 USD! Get this game at this steal of a price!

The game doesnt know what it wants: in the test it says go left but next thing you know it tells you to turn around in the middle of a cross section. and vr support doesnt work either for anyone with a oculus rift s just so you know.

Absolutely one of the worst games I have ever played, honestly.
I regularly try new games with my G923 and am used to having to set up the mapping, but I had to redo the mapping in this game at least 3 times just to get started and it still didn't work properly, despite the preset for G920 series wheels in the settings.

Understeer was excessively unrealistic.
Had to cycle the ignition every time I shifted gears.
Didn't get any further than this in the game but I wouldn't be surprised to find more issues.

0/10 absolutely hate that I wasted $2.99 and and hour of my time.

RIP me.

I personally find it really useful as a simulator to learn how to drive. The game could be updated to add a more rural area and learn to drive in that region as well. Make sure you have a proper driving set otherwise I don't recommend it.

It's a good but not the best simulator to those who are new to driving. The driving simulation with wheel and driving stick makes it very realistic. But there are many bad simulations.
- The position of the traffic lights are very odd in a bad way.
- The lights when turning also makes you cross traffic when you should not.
- The signs with which lane i should positioning in mostly are shown to late. And it makes you cross many lanes and more often solid lines.
- The roundabout are strange to drive with european rule... there are no signs on which lane to positioning in for which direction. I have been looking at the european rules how to drive in a roundabout and it's correct but with these roundabout it's hard to drive correct.
- The maps need more work to be a good simulator!!

The career mode which make you practise different exercises which can be hard to master for beginners are very good for new driviers. It helps you learn to drive and turn i tight spot, to use the mirrors and parking. For those who do not want to pay alot for drivers lessons this could be a good start.

Hopefully there will be an update soon. If there is i would definetly recommend this simulator

This is a very positive game i would recommend this to anyone who is just starting out in sim because i have learned a lot about how to handle cars just from this simulator. the only 2 downsides of this game is that your pc needs to be dedicated or the game will have difficulty running or it wont at all and that you dont know what any of the road rules are which makes it a bit harder to know and understand the rules of driving in different countries, there should be something in the game that tells you the rules depending on the country that you have chosen to drive in. I had to learn the laws of Canada from a book and just messing around in the game to find out what is legal and whats not. but put aside these small downsides this is a great game. In the future i would really love to see some multiplayer or server multiplayer in this game, there is AI traffic but this game does get lonely and a bit boring after 45 to 50 hrs of playing it and i think multiplayer would make this game really fun as you could take a drive with your friends.

Guys if you need a GAME that you will really enjoy. AVOID THIS GAME!.. it has been developed by a single person who does not care about the feedback of its players. There has been no update since like 2016, the bugs are more than the corona crisis, it lags even with a top gaming cpu.. Steam does not care either.. I regret ever wasting 20euros on this piece of dumb art

I enjoyed this game until I started to try and do what I bought it to do. MODS make it crash and the cars that you can play with are far too outdated. Game need severe updating and an online server.

I'm disappointed: the game doesn't seem to live up to the descriptions. I tried this with a Logitech G29 wheel and shifter, but it doesn't appear to read the inputs, properly. I also tried this with a VR headset, but the center of the Virtual Head was initialized on the hood of the virtual car. In general, these issues make the sim pretty much unplayable. I'm sure it works fine with a keyboard and mouse, but it's rather disappointing to have access to technologies that would improve gameplay, and not have them work, though they're described as being supported. Overall, rather disappointed.

If we start with the mods, you really can have good times while driving. There are various road types like mountain, country, highway and absolutely city. Traffic signs, environments are changing depending on the places that you are traveling. Those places were not modeled bad.

Also, Logitech G29 and PXN-v9/v900 models worked perfectly. You can drive the car with vibration feedbacks from the roads. Options provide you to change the sensitivity, dead zones (like most-known simulations), and key assignments.

In addition, there are really good missions like Ruber and CarGo which can provide you to buy some petrol. You can learn how to drive patiently in rules. Their missions want you to travel along the streets and regions step by step. Most of my favorite mods are qualified for the requirements of mission cars. This can also make you love this simulation more.

As a conclusion of my review, I can say that It's an old but developing game. If their developers bring a multiplayer option to it (this can be hard, you cannot observe the exact modeling quality in each car of AI.), they will get more customers without suspicion.

PS.: Please enlarge the map. We all love the atmosphere, just demand a little bit more roads and sceneries.

Fun, pretty much the only sim for city driving. It's the closest thing to real driving imo. Especially helpful to get people confident in driving again! I was in a car accident a long time ago (wasn't my fault, got smacked from the rear during emergency braking because of an ice patch, at least 20 cars were in a collision in that single event), I didn't want to drive, but this gave me a bit more confidence that I can get back in the road.

Free driving mode crashes very often, like every 5 minutes, even with just default 50% traffic without any mods and without any error messages. After some googling I found out that the game has such a problem with laptops that have hybrid graphics cards (big power hungry card + tiny integrated graphics card), so the solution for NVidia is https://steamcommunity.com/app/493490/discussions/0/3182216552772327474/#c1740012510024216331

I paste the most important part of that fix here, in case the comment gets removed sometime:

NVidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings:
1) Select Program to Customize: Navigate to starter.exe (on my laptop: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCity Car Drivinginwin32starter.exe)
2) Select the preferred graphics processor -> High-performance NVIDIA processor.
Those settings enforce the game to run on dedicated graphics.

Was very surprised how responsive the game was with my Logitech G293 Wheel. My only complaint is UI is outdated, but it is indie so I'll give it a pass. It is a simulator after all, so I strongly recommend buying a wheel. What's nice is that it also has good radio selections. You can safely learn to drive and listen to 1980's pop as a past time.

This gaame was the bigges waste of money ever. its so hard just to get the car rollin!!!!!!!!! i spent a long time trying to juust DRIVE ITS IN THE NAME OF THE GAME AND ITS THE HARDEST THING TO DO. THE STUPID FORCE FEEDBACK ON MY WHEEL IS WORSE THAN A SEMI TRUCK WITH NO POWER STEERING. THIS IS THE ROUTE OF ALL OF MY DEPRESSION. MY LAWNMOWER DRIVES BETTER THAN THESE CARs. Awesome Game. Wouldn't recommend though because there's a bug preventing me from progressing through career mode. Overall, the game is pretty buggy. But if you're just going to be playing the free driving mode, you shouldn't encounter anything game-breaking like i have.

Although this game is fun with mods and editing engine config files, the scenery gets old really quickly. If only there was a way to make maps for it.

I know that this is a driving learning game, but I think that the addition of map mods would make the game a lot more enjoyable. Maybe add a scenario of bus driver with the liaz from the workshop.

A fun game in itself. I've known it for years, and since it, at the time of writing, is on sale, I decided to give it a chance.
The game is very outdated, and translations into Dutch are not correct. As far as I know it works with my Logitech G29.
Nice to give it a try or practice for driving lessons, but the normal price isn't worth it at all. If it's on sale, like now with 85% discount, it's a nice extra game. 6 out of 10.

Bottom line: For normal 2D screen use, yes, this is pretty good. Has some rough edges, but it works... But if you want to use this game in VR, which it is advertised as supporting, then simply forget about it.

The VR support in this game/sim is very bad and will only partially work with first generation VR hardware (stuff that is 5 years old like the original HTC Vive or the original Rift) - and even then it just barely works. With any newer VR hardware (i.e. current generation HMDs like the Valve Index, Rift S, Quest/ Quest 2 via USB tether, or WMR), it is an utter mess and has stutter so bad that it is basically unplayable. This is regardless of your hardware and its settings. (I'm running an AMD 5900x with 32gigs of high-end DDR4 ram along with a RTX 3090 and a Valve Index, so pretty much top-shelf HW and in VR, it is totally unplayable. There are also no menus supported in VR, so you are stuck using a keyboard/mouse and returning to a 2D screen to set anything.

The developer has publicly stated in their Steam forums that there are no plans to update or modernize the game's VR support. This is a real shame as this game/sim is really a perfect match for VR. I'm hoping that they will one day reconsider this and add good VR support.

Again, if you want to use this in VR, prepare to be massively disappointed.

Every time you fail a task and restart, you have to go through the annoying starting procedure of:
Seat belts on, lights on, engine on, parking break off, break on + gear, drive.
It gets infuriating, especially when the game fails you after a few minutes of doing some elaborate check list of procedures and turns. Only to have to go through it all again and again as there's no other way to progress to more open game play. Even when you do, the rest of the game is more of the same but now in an open city where you get penalized for doing or not doing who knows what since there's never any proper explanation as to how or why you did or didn't do something.
Also, why is the UI/speedometer in the top-left corner?!

I've played many horrible games but this one is the worst so far. Super crappy looking graphics and lack of sense AI is more than enough to make you frustrated super quickly, especially during the road tests.
You may expect to see a catastrophe between the traffic rules, AI drivers and the examiner. If you are willing to free drive aimlessly in a boring, small mapped city, it's the perfect game for you! It definitely teaches some driving skills, however wastes great amount of your time. It's too bad there is no other alternative.

It is a good game once it is running properly and that hardly happens. Whenever I play the game I must have to uninstall and install the game 1-2 times. A lot of the times when you might be trying to do a career or free driving just as it is about to be fully loaded a notification will pop up saying that an item in the game can not be found or loaded in. If you do get the game I would not recommend downloading mods. Mods by a lot of the time don't end up running and the ones that do end up running are not compatible with over mods and once the game has finished loading it will crash.

For a title that is supposed to be realistic simulation, it is not very realistic.
If you have a steering wheel and looking for something that will improve your real world driving, then this game is NOT for you. It is close to being realistic but there are many aspects of it that are very unrealistic. Car accelerate way too fast and the brakes are super weak. steering sometimes did not turn the car, even at very low speeds. (this alone breaks the entire point of the game).

I was looking for a realistic simulation to introduce my wife into driving and was disappointed.

Why I disliked the game you ask? One. If you even install one mod, game breaks. And we have virtually no way of knowing if the mod is broken or fragmented. Sure the game is nice and the graphics is really good, BUT! Watch out the Intel iGPU owners. even though you've been watching videos about iGPUs running CCD, I highly despise that. This game isn't that diverse in terms of player base, partly because it needs a dGPU just for it to work. I've seen many videos and fixes on how to fix the iGPU problem, but most of them are pointless and don't have much instruction at all. Not recommended for those PC players who have no budget for their PC at all, but this review may change after I get a PC upgrade, or wait for the developers to add iGPU support for me to give a through review for it.

Controls are trash. Configuring them doesn't work most the time. You set up the controls but then nothing works. The driving is some of the worst I have ever tried.

So I ended up buying this simulator for my gf that needs help on how to drive without going out on the public road and risking an accident.

Pros: The graphics are ok (weather seems to be pretty cool)
The simulation runs smooth in vr (oculus rift cv2)

cons: The game is smooth but there is way too much swaying. I had to change the settings so that the camera was not moving constantly. I was finding that I was getting sick because of this. I am not going to put down the graphics too much but the ai could use a bit of work. I mean Im driving along and cars stop right in front of you, people robotically walk out in the middle of the road without looking at all times, If you want to play this with decent ai I would keep the traffic low and I wouldnt go over the usual traffic setting. The developers need to add more american style streets if you are going to offer american road laws...

Overall I like the direction that the sim goes. I mean it has plenty of spots that need to be fixed epecially for vr. Also please add more maps of different places to drive. You could have better cities, suburban areas, countryside maybe under different categories and countries each having their own laws. I would buy something like that for sure. Plus with a cleaner more accurate simulation of real life situations and driving maybe we could have driving schools online perhaps somewhere in the future...

Driving to perfection

A short review

Without wasting any time I will come to the point directly.
Please note that this is a hardcore city car driving simulator as the name suggests. If you only like casual racing games like need for speed, burnout etc then chances are you may not like it. Also I would highly recommend using a wheel like Logitech G29 etc for this simulator. I have played this game with both keyboard and a Xbox 360 controller with manual shifting & honestly both are not that comfortable to use for this game.
For me keyboard is too difficult & it also kills the purpose of this sim. But still if you want to try it out for fun then you may go ahead.
Now as mentioned before this game is so strict that you will get punished or notified for even making a slightest mistake. This may get frustrating for some people as its the main problem of this game. It wants you to be 100% perfect. If passing in this sim becomes mandatory for getting a license then I am pretty sure only around 25-30% of people will pass which can be both good & bad.

Anyways this sim has 2 game modes 1. Career Mode and 2. Free driving mode. The career mode is divided into 5 groups called driving school student, novice, experienced, professional and special training. Each of these groups has some tasks which you must complete to unlock the tasks of the next group. As you progress the tasks gets more challenging. If you want more challenge then the career mode also has an optional advanced mode too where its more unforgiving and with more limitations like you can't switch to external camera etc.

The best part of this game is the free driving mode where you can drive anywhere you like around the city and in any way you want. You can even turn off the notifications.
In this mode you can select the time of the day, weather conditions, season and traffic behaviour. There are many options in traffic behaviour to make the situation more realistic like You can change the frequency of breaking of traffic lights, dangerious change of traffic, lighting system failure, steering malfunction etc.

City car driving has only 1 map which is decent & around 12 vehicles. However when you create your profile at the beginning you can choose from 4 different countries viz USA, Australia, European union, Russian federation. Traffic rules changes according to the country selected so you can play the same map with 4 different rules.
Also this game support mods and there are many good car mods available in the steam workshop. The game is decent visually and the same can be said for its sound too. There are few bugs too & the AIs are not perfect but nothing game breaking.
The current price is a bit steep therefore if you don't want to get it now then you can wait for a discount or a sale.

Overall I would highly recommend this game to those who are learning to drive or want to learn driving & also to people who owns a wheel & loves some realistic sims.

I think the idea behind the game is amazing, it really does feel like the best simulator on the market... so far BUT IT DOES NEED SERIOUS IMPROVEMENT!!!
Keep in mind that some levels in career mode are simply frustrating and they will only teach you how to get extremely angry (especially ADVANCED ones) because unexpected arcade-ish gamelike behaviour will happen.... cars jumping ( I seriously mean JUMPING from the ground) In front of you, cars running into you out of nowhere no matter how slow of fast you drive (legal speed) , getting penalties for stopping and allowing a pedestrian to cross even though there's a pedestrian crossing, ALWAYS having some random pedestrians run right in front of YOUR vehicle (no one elses) getting penalties that a pedestrian is crossing even though there is no one there, and again, the most annoying of them all , cars who will simply run into you out of the blue as soon as you think you will finally finish the mission! for no reason either than to stop you from reaching the main goal and even if you do manage to break in time and avoid the accident you will get penalty points and will have to start the mission all over non stop!!! 5 points is a joke (where I live for the real drivers license you have 21 points)
Roundabound rules are broken, you will have to exit first lane 100% of the time in order not to get a penalty even though that's not how you cross a roundabound at all in real live, (you enter second lane, you exit second lane IRL) you have ZERO information or clues in learning how to park a car or how to execute any maneuvers and if you never knew how to drive before playing this game or how to park you will NOT learn it in here properly because there is NO tutorials for anything , no clues in how to complete certain maneuvers and no guidance for anything at all!~ even though it says it's for people who learn how to drive they don't teach you anything except how clueless you are at driving and how many errors you make while playing, not how to correct them or how to properly drive. They could offer a bit more support and guidance in how to play or actually learn how to drive because it actually does feel really cool if you can get over the fogginess of the VR glasses (if you have oculus or any other VR headset while playing and a wheel with pedals) and it could become a serious learning platform if only they would put in more effort and correct some errors!
Free Driving is the best thing about this game, simply make your own traffic rules and scenarios and go with them, that's the best thing you can possibly do in this game!
Another positive aspect: In free driving mode you can actually encounter real life situations (a flat tire) and you will notice how you will actually have to control your car as if it's broken down and in need of repairs , you encounter unexpected traffic scenarios/jams/accidents/ traffic control etc etc and that really is helpful!!!
In the future I hope to see motorbikes and bicycle lanes only with LESS abnormal exaggerated retarded behaviour from the AI who in some missions will seriously only run into you or at least they will hunt you down and make sure you fail certain missions no matter what!!!

Another negative thing, if you never tried to drive a car in your life this game will demotivate you completely making you think you're the worlds most retarded driver who can't even follow basic simple rules while in reality (if anyone studied legislation and how to drive seriously) that is not the case.

Sadly I will only give this game 5 out of 10 because there is too much improvement needed in order to make this a good simulator and an actual virtual driving school not just a testing platform.

Some rules don`t apply in certain countries,concerning roundabouts itspecialy (Europe region),some of the emergency situation settings are very annoying and perdictable.

Such as pedestrians starting running right before they run over a HIGHWAY,happens most on left lane,unavoidable love bumps from cars in blind spot (non vr),and you get scolded by not using turn sign,when you`re trying to steer clear of an idiot driving INTO YOUR LANE(from oncoming at 80 KMPH)...nvm i saved my life and possibly others i didn`t use turn sign cause fck life,signals over life!

Anyways mostly its quite functional,has flaws,but if you can overlook all that (and turn down the redicilous emergancy situations to realistic levels) it functions quite good as a training app should you not,like me,have a chance to practise drive with anyone before your final exam.

Not same,but better than nothing and defo enchanced by VR and good steering w/ 6 gears and clutch (both i have) if youre one of the dying breed types like me and drive manual.

I hope the devs read this. A few update recommendations. I agree with most people complaining about the points during the lessons. Admittedly it's been nearly 30 years since I did my driving test (I live in Australia) but I'm sure we still get more than five points to work with. The instructions during the lessons need to be vocal instead of writing on the screen. First of all it's distracting and takes your eyes off the road, second by the time you've read it you've already passed your objective (and most likely failed) and thirdly it would add more realism to the game. Make you feel like the instructor is sitting in the car next to you. I also think adding a cruise control option for the modern cars in the game as most modern cars have that as standard nowadays.
I do have a few small issues with the game but overall it is the most realistic sim I've played so far. I already have plans to get my 8 year old at the wheel and start teaching her to drive. It may not be as good as the real thing but at least she can learn the basics until she's old enough to get her learner's permit and hopefully make her a better driver.

There's a few things I like about this game, but overall it's terrible. The problems there are with it are trivial too which makes the game even worse.

I tried to play this with a game pad for example and the slightest movement sends the steering wheel in a full circle, there is no way to even control the vehicle a key concept of a driving game I would have thought. Did the creators not even test their game before giving it to us?

This alone would be my selling point on why you should not buy the game. They then proceed to give hundreds of settings in conjunction to the controls, none of which make any difference to anything. Turning the settings to minimum is exactly the same as to maximum, where it should almost immobilize the steering and then they give terms like linearity, well I'm sorry even studying higher level math I still have no clue what this relates to and best guess it is acceleration of the turning speed. but tried and testing it has little effect on anything anyway so who cares, the creators obviously just don't like the people who want to buy their game, stay away from this product.

The only thing I am glad of is that I got this game in the Steam Sales and I did not pay anywhere near the asking price. This should be a free title as it yet to be playable.

I cannot recommend this game, when using a controller its almost impossible to drive in a straight line even at low speeds, if it were a drunken driving simulator im sure it'd be more on point. Controls are super sensitive.

car starts off with basically no petrol in free drive mode which makes no sense and it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to even get the car moving. AI was also very janky.

May well be better with a driving wheel.

Ok, so the graphics and sounds are kinda awful. BUT! This sim is pretty intense. The career is extremely strict, probably because it is meant to be a learning tool. That being said, you can also play free mode and set traffic density, weather, number of random accidents/idiots on the road, which is a nice addition. Plus, the workshop has a cool selection of modded cars.

GTA this ain't but if like myself you are into regular driving simulators this is PERFECT! It's a very good emulation of driving round major cities in the USA / Australia / Canada / The EU or Germany for your choices however I think only Australia will drive on the left hand side of the road. Pick environment types where an 'Old City' and a 'New City' spell significantly different street layouts and AI traffic can be lightly / heavily loaded plus controlled working really well around you. Should you score yourself a 'stiff' then pedestrians make a GTA type dying noise whereas inducing an accident will just cause a smash and not much else at city type speeds. You can pick the options of being pre-assigned routes or free drive along with minor violation permission / NO violation permission and if you pick up too many hit points on an assigned route you will fail the route gaining no experience points. I love this personally but like I say don't go HOONING into this expecting GTA or you are in danger of finding this mundane and potentially boring. I wanted a cross between a regular driving simulator that was potentially educational in it's nature and 'BeamNG' ... THIS was so my 'man' :o)

I really want to like this game, but if you arent willing to dish out $80 on a wheel, I wouldnt bother. The keyboard controls are so atrocious that it makes something like driving seem 15x as complicated as it needs to be. Changing the key bindings to improve quality of life doesnt work. There is no option to be able to use the mouse to look around while using the car to drive. Why this isnt a feature? who knows. So how do you look left and right? well obviously by using left CTR and right CTR buttons. Because.. Thats a better option.. Sure.

Also, every single time you stop for any longer than a second, your car turns off. This forces you to hold the clutch and restart your car every single time you stop at a redlight. About as annoying as you could expect. There is also no choice for you to use a manual gearbox unless you are in freeplay, which doesnt have all the vehicles unless you beat the campaign.

While in training, if you make a mistake, it does not teleport you back onto the road. It does not give you a popup, or message. It doesnt tell you to get back on the road. No. Instead, it restarts the entire mission all over again from the very beginning. Very cool! not at all frustrating!

so far the game is a 3/10 and makes me want to smash my keyboard. literally the only thing keeping this game from being a good game are these shitty mechanics and controls.

Since the developer responded I will try the game again and update the review after more time spent on the game.

Overall the game is good, good physics, the graphics are ok/good. You can use mods if tired of the cars in-game. The car AI isn't the best but you can modify it(amount of cars in road, their way to drive[passive to agressive], the amount of people, emergency situations, under the influence of alchool, etc). I recommend this game.

It's not a racing simulator, but this is the only retail game out there that attempts to offer a realistic simulation of driving in the real world, and at that, it does pretty good job.

It simulates road signs and driving regulations for many countries around the world, and the colour-coded notifications that pop up whenever you break a rule are actually really useful for forming good habits. Speaking as someone with no prior driving experience or knowledge, the tutorials are quite helpful as well and will get you started pretty quickly.

For what it's worth, it also worked right out of the box for me, force feedback and all, with a racing wheel and Intel graphics on a laptop running Linux, with Proton/Steamplay. NOTE THAT THIS CONFIGURATION IS OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED; the developers don't have to help you if you run into problems on a laptop or with Steamplay/Proton, but speaking as a user, I found it works brilliantly.

Probably DON'T buy this if you're:

Looking for a hardcore racing simulator or even an arcade game like Assetto Corsa or GRID.
Looking for the most graphically attractive game to stress-test your gaming rig.

But definitely DO consider buying this if you're:

Starting out driving and preparing for a road test.
Considering taking driving lessons. Try this first; it's cheaper, even with a racing wheel, and you can practice as much as you want.
Moving to a country with different road regulations that you want to practice first.
Interested in learning how to driving a truck, a trailer, or any other special automobile that you're not used to.
Interested in improving your everyday driving skills and safety.

Game with locked content, you need to download unsafe executable in order to have the full experience, or play a career path that will take you hours. I bought his as a simulator, to practice with vans, and is locked. I know how to drive, just want to practice with vans. I cannot understand why they don't provide a way to get all the content. Free drive means FREE drive I can do whatever I want, I shouldn't be prisoner of they career mode. Please think there is other kind of player of the ones you design the game for. Add cheats or something...
