Today marks a month since the game came out, and it's been so amazing. We have more than 600 reviews, very positive... I really can't ask for much more. To celebrate, today we have the 1.1 for the game, with a lot of changes, like:

[b]FEATURES & QUALITY OF LIFE[/b]

  • Noticeably lower CPU use.

  • Added option to cap FPS.

  • New Last Checkpoint option in Pause Menu, to restart from the last checkpoint.

  • Restart Level from Pause Menu now shows a loading screen.

  • Added trigger near end of levels that alerts player that they are leaving the area.

  • Portable lights are now tied to weapons. Use lantern with one-handed, and flashlight with two-handed.

  • Martina now follows the player properly in the late stage of the game.

  • Switched from Mono to IL2CPP which makes scripts a bit faster and the game harder to hack.

  • Added notes to secrets in level 3 and 10.

INTERFACE & UI

  • Quick Stats screen, added treasure count.

  • Quick Stats screen, added objectives.

  • Added accessibility screenshake toggle.

  • Added subtitles to all cutscenes and option to disable them (default ON).

  • New AA quality setting (needs testing).

  • Potato mode textures now available as a new Half-Res Textures option.

  • Better interaction with Alt-Tab during end level screen.

[b]GAMEPLAY[/b]

  • Projectile weapons (panzer, flamer and crossbow) are a lot more accurate in short range.

  • Player rockets now are 25% faster, and crossbow bolts are 15% faster.

  • Player now has infinite ammo for the duration of Homicidal Rant.

  • Explosions now trigger mines and grenades when in distance.

  • Bigger sounds for mine and grenade explosions.

  • Added more different surface sounds for player falls.

  • Screen borders now also flash red when taking fall damage.

  • Final boss is now easier in Easy difficulty.

  • Big charger enemies now have 20% more health and charge 50% faster.

  • Fully removed ability for enemies to jump down tall slopes, which caused issues.

  • Shielder enemies can now be shot through the shield’s hole.

  • Shielder enemy can now hurt the player with melee attacks.

  • Dogs no longer leave a momentary invisible collider after death.

  • The U-Goat no longer fires if the queen is dead.

[b]CONTROLS[/b]

MOUSE & KEYBOARD

  • Weapon slot rebinding now possible.

  • Weapon Wheel now accessible with mouse & keyboard.

  • Added a keybind for new Last Weapon feature.

  • Added option to invert mouse wheel.

GAMEPAD

  • Added deadzone control for gamepads.

  • Added acceleration control for gamepads.

  • Walk/run visuals and sounds now detect analog input.

[b]VISUALS[/b]

  • Better door color coding in levels 2, 7 and 8.

  • Changed Ausfahrt for Ausgang in the red signs indicating exits.

  • Changed level selection German signs to be grammatically correct.

  • Better performing blood particles.

  • Better and better performing explosion effects.

  • New lightmaps for levels 3 and 10.

[b]LEVELS[/b]

  • Added descriptions to alien plants in level 7 lab.

  • Level 7 large Bad Guy portrait can now be destroyed.

  • Level 8 boss now triggers player mines.

  • Level 8 boss has better and more aggressive behavior when player is in armory areas.

  • New navigation mesh for levels 6, 8, 10.

  • Added sound to elevator in level 10.

  • Switched two of the script’s lines in cutscene before final fight.

[b]FIXES[/b]

  • Fixed “The place I used to call Fatherland” achievement.

  • Fixed “Master Finder” achievement and made it “find 50 secrets” instead of all secrets.

  • Fixed Tesla weapon icon overriding other weapons.

  • Restored missing treasure in level 5.

  • Screen mode setting now sticks through sessions.

  • Commentary setting now sticks through sessions.

  • Skipping cutscenes with ESC key no longer brings up the Pause menu.

  • Fixed ammo not translating correctly to the next level.

  • Restored lights in middle section of level 2.

  • Removed repeated note in level 12 part 1.

  • Martina no longer repeats her 2nd line in the level 10 dialogue.

  • Final boss no longer repeats a line in final level 1st cutscene dialogue.

  • Rat and grenades no longer hit invisible walls in levels 3 and 4.

  • Weapon sway option now doesn’t require level change to work.

  • Final fight level, removed a rock that allowed a game breaking shortcut.

  • Final fight level, stopped an exploit that allowed to exit early.

  • Fixed audio source in boulder for late game cutscene.

  • Fixed level 9 last door locking player in small room.

  • Fixed Rat and Gunther showing up before the final cutscene.

  • Fixed final boss health bar sometimes not reacting to vulnerability states.

  • Loading level 12 now shows the correct loading screen.

  • Fixed player weapon moving during end level fade out.

  • Consequences of button presses should now work correctly after checkpoint load.

  • Fixed valkyries that had buns through their hats in levels 6 and 7.

  • Fixed big charger enemies hurting themselves when turning corners.

  • Fixed bug in level 8 where the boss would not appear.

  • Fixed bug in level 8 where the boss would spawn with relevant offset.

  • It’s now harder for your companion to make you stuck in the final fight map.

  • Fixed blue skeletons going through doors in their first appearance.

Hopefully, your experience in Darkenstein 3D is a bit smoother now. :) Regarding the Fatherland achievement for finishing the game:

Since difficulty can be changed mid-game, the achievement requires to have played at least the last 3 levels in normal or hard. It will not trigger if you just go and finish the game from the last map. Sorry for the inconvenience.
