For a few days every year, experienced crab catchers and greenhorns brave the elements side by side, putting their health and life on the line. The goal is to earn a fortune and become known as the best crab catcher. Now you can become one of them!

In Deadliest Catch: The Game you will compete in dangerous sea rallies to catch more crabs than you ever thought possible. The task is not simple – it is a battle against time, fishing quotas, crab migrations, and most importantly: the sea. Such is your fate on the Alaskan waters!

Your ship is no different from those that sail from Dutch Harbor every fall to seek a fortune in the marine abyss. You will conn your vessel in all conditions: breeze or gale, no storm can scare you, however terrifying it may look. The troubled sea, the soaked ship deck, the vessel floating on the waves - and you to overcome it all!

At your disposal, we leave not only this fishing vessel, but also all the onboard equipment - the crane, the winch, the launcher, and the coiling system. We will teach you to use them, step by step. Remember, no-one was born with the rudder - or a crab - in their hand. However, you will manage the vessel by yourself - as captain and fisherman at the same time. All devices are handled by you in the first-person mode to have the best view of everything happening on your boat. You will also get original crab pots - thanks to them you will be able to pick out all the crabs from the vastness of Bering Sea.

Remember that you must follow Alaskan law. Not all crabs can be caught and sold! A realistic 3D model will help you judge whether you have caught a handsome and expensive male, a protected female, or a baby. Analyze the water and seabed to better predict where crabs may be found.

Nature will not be your only opponent. Match your skills against the computer and other players! Invite your friends to compete for the title of the best crab catcher. Load your pots on board, sit at the controls of your ship and see which one of you is the fastest and most effective in catching your crab fortune from the bottom of the sea!

Endlich ohne abstuerze spielbar! das letzte update war ein absoluter fortschritt und meilenstein das spiel ist endlich spielbar.
es ist zwar noch luft nach oben aber das letzte update macht mir hoffnung das da noch mehr kommt wie z.b. mehr schiffe groessere bzw. bessere schiffe anschaffbar etc. was das ganze spiel in meinen augen erheblich abrunden wuerde

Zum Glück hab ich nur 3.50 Euro bezahlt. Aber solch einen Müll überhaupt hier bei Steam zu vertreiben ist schon lächerlich. Am interessantesten finde ich die Möglichkeit einen Bug zu melden. Da kann man ja Romane verfassen. Die Crew arbeitet wie Roboter oder mal gar nicht obwohl man alle Leute eingeteilt hat. Stehen sich gegenseitig im Weg rum. Grafik ist grauenhaft. Umsonst wär es noch zu teuer.

Hallo,

als Fan der Dmax Serie war ich sehr gespannt auf dieses Game!

Ich fand es wirklich Grafisch nicht so wichtig wenn das Spielerlebnis gut wäre.

Leider wurde meine Krabbenfischer Karriere in der ersten Saison gleich mit einem sinkenden Schiff belohnt.
Alles in allem könnte daraus wenn man noch hier und da bugfixed betreibt in 5-7 Jahren was werden.

Ich hoffe das der Entwickler mein Bugreport liesst.

Also so in diesem Stadium extrem umständlich zu spielen.
Ich bin ja grundsätzlich ein Freund von realistischen Games, aber so umständlich, dass man alles alleine macht...
Dieses Game kann man beim besten Willen nicht empfehlen.

Eigentlich ein sehr gutes Game, vor allem wenn man ein Fan von der Serie ist. Allerdings nerven ein paar Dinge sehr. Zuerst finde ich es gut wenn man ein Game so realistisch wie möglich macht, wenn das game aber zu nah an die Realität kommt und man in einer Saison 3 Tankfüllungen Diesel siinnlos verbläst und nichts fängt leidet sehr der Spielspaß.
Bei meinem ersten Versuch machte ich in der 3. Saison nur Minus so das ich am Anfang der 4. Saison Pleite ging (da man sich ja keinen Kredit holen kann). Gründe für mein Minus in der 3. Saison: 1. ich wollte an einem Eisberg dran vorbei fahren und war auch schon halb vorbei, trotzdem rammte ich den Eisberg und mein Kutter sank (Kosten fast 42.000 $ da die schwimmenden Eisberg nicht auf dem Radar angezeigt werden), 2. fuhr ich dreimal raus und holte bei allen Auswürfen gerade einmal 84 Kg Krabben hoch. Bei meinem 2. Versuch meiner Karriere fing es super an. Bin noch in der 1. Saison und habe nach meiner ersten Ausfahrt über 120.000 $ verdient, bin jetzt bei der 2. Ausfahrt und habe 12 Körbe ausgeworfen. Bekam aber beim reinholen nur 6 Körbe hoch und geleert. Der 7 Korb läßt sich nach dem leeren nicht mehr zur Lagerfläche heben. Ich kann die sortierten Krabben nicht vom Sortiertisch nehmen (aber ich kann auf einmal über den Sortiertisch laufen), ich kann nichts mehr reparieren außer den Wickler. Dann sind die eingestellten Crewmitglieder so blöd, das es passieren kann (beim einholen der Körbe) das ein geleerter Korb noch auf der Rampe liegt und nur weil ich zu schnell an den nächsten herausholbaren Korb gefahren bin holt das Crewmitglied diesen Korb aus dem Wasser und setzt ihn auf den geleerten Korb der noch auf der Rampe liegt. Beim lösen der 2 Körbe gingen beide über Bord.
Fazit:
Eigentlich ist das Game schon zu empfehlen, aber nicht solange die ganzen Bugs noch vorhanden sind.
Ich bin zwar ein geduldiger Mensch, aber habe trotzdem keinen Bock ein Game zickmal neu anfangen zu müssen (nur wegen den Bugs).

An sich schönes Spiel, so lange man ohne Mannschaft spielt. Dann geht das frustige Rumgebugge los.....In diesem Stadium NICHT zu empfehlen. Ist aber auf jeden Fall nen 2. Blick wert(nach einer ordentlichen Überarbeitung).

UPDATE:
Es hat sich leider NICHTS getan, die Crew ist unbrauchbar wie eh und je. Warum sollen wir Bugs vom neuen Update melden, wenn die bekannten konsequent ignoriert/nicht gefixt werden? Die halten uns wohl echt für b....e. Sry, das Game ist für mich gestorben.
Kann es leider immer noch nicht empfehlen, und bin hier auch raus. Dafür ist mir meine Zeit zu schade.

Ich habe mich bewusst dazu entschieden, einen Daumen hoch zu geben, allerdings mit großem Vorbehalt.
Als Erstes ist es von der Idee eine klasse Spiel, doch meiner Meinung nach noch eine Alpha Version, es ist kaum
Spielbares enthalten, ja klar man kann Krabben fangen, also auf gehts, man hat nur ein Schiff, keine Auswahl, lediglich den eigenen Namen sowie die Farbe ändern----VIEL ZU WENIG!!!
Upgrades sowie Besatzung sind da eher rudimentär und viel Auswahl hat man nicht. Kann man ja noch mitleben, wenn die Crew nicht langsam (trotz Upgrade keine sichtbare Verbesserung) wäre und nur Auswahl zwischen 4-5 Leuten hat, natürlich immer dieselben.

Eine Simulation kann man es nicht nennen, eher etwas für den hohlen Zahn.

Zweitens hat es mir tatsächlich Spaß gemacht, auch wenn ich nach acht Stunden denke, eigentlich habe ich jetzt alles gesehen, denn der ganze Prozess ändert sich nicht, es ist keine Abwechslung darin, doch was man schon kann macht auch kurzzeitig Spaß.

Ich kann nur hoffe dass noch viel mehr Inhalt demnächst kommt, denn das Potenzial ist erkennbar und stark ausbaufähig.

Für alle die nicht genau wissen ob sie es sich holen sollen, schaut ein Lets play, mehr passiert bei euch dann auch nicht.

ich werde es beobachten ob es Sinn macht es in zukunft noch weiter zu daddeln.

Nein, ich schreibe sonst keine Bewertungen, aber ich bin wütend und enttäuscht. Dass das Spiel viele Bugs hat, ist ja schon erschöpfend erörtert worden. Das ist ärgerlich, wird aber wahrscheinlich abgestellt. Was mich enttäuscht ist das Konzept und die Grafik. Der Spieler sieht das Unterwasserschiff wie in einem Aquarium, dadurch passen die Proportionen des Schiffes nicht. Viele Details am Schiff fehlen, so bekommt man den Eindruck, die Entwickler haben sich nicht wirklich mit dem Thema auseinandergesetzt oder mal eine Staffel der Serie gesehen. So gibt es keine Flagge im Mast, die Positionslaternen sind nicht korrekt, achtern fehlen die Schwimmer für die Körbe und das Deck sieht zu klinisch aus. Das führt dazu, dass nicht wirklich eine Atmosphäre entsteht. Dazu sehen die Figuren einfach gruselig aus. Das Konzept selbst sorgt nicht für Langzeitmotivation. Ich fahre raus, finde meinen Spott ( ca. 60 m Wassertiefe, ca. 4 Grad Wassertemperatur ), schmeiße meine Körbe raus, warte, sammle sie wieder ein, hole sie hoch und habe immer genau 80 Krabben im Korb. Einige weiblich, einige männlich, soll das alles sein? Die Konkurrenz ist grottenschlecht, ich habe nach der 2. oder 3. Saison alles wichtige am Schiff ausgebaut. Zum Krabbenfischen gehört aber deutlich mehr! Dem Anspruch eine Simulation zu sein, wird dieses Spiel leider nicht gerecht, Langzeitmotivation gleich null, Herausforderung gleich null. Schade, sehr schade! Fazit: Wer nur was zum herumdaddeln sucht ist hier richtig, wer sich eine Simulation wünscht und zudem das erwartet, was im Werbetext versprochen wird, sollte unbedingt die Finger davon lassen ! Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass die Entwickler nachbessern, oder die Konkurrenz ( Fishing North Atlantic ) es besser machen wird.

Leider ist das Spiel in der Aktuellen Version nicht Spielbar.
1. Der HiScore wird nach den laden des Savegame zurück gesetzt.
2. Der Savegame selbst wenn man ihn neu anlegt, meckert das Spiel beim laden des Savegame das diese nicht der Aktuellen Version enspricht.
3. Es ruckelt wie Hölle (ich hab n AMD Ryzen 3, 16 gb ram und eine nvidia 1660 mit 6gb Vram)
4. Sobald ein Korb beschädigt ist, wird er auf hoher See als verloren angesehen.
5. wenn man in hafen ist, die zeit bis kurz vor den Seasonende vor spult(über die Einstellung die zeit einstellen), wird beim erreichen des Ende kein Seasonende angezeigt und die Uhr tickt weiter. Season kann so nicht beendet werden.
6. Das Meer, so schön es auch ist, Schaukelt es sich auf, kommt die Schaumkrone nicht mehr den wellen nach.

Dies sind nur einige Punkte, die das Spielen eher unmöglich macht. In meinen Augen ist diese Version immernoch ein sehr frühes Betastadion. Und keine 14,99 Euro wert. Wir Fans der Serie sind zimmlich enttäuscht drüber, was die Entwickeler für n schnellen Euro auf n Markt werfen. Zudem Selbst wenn Steam 50% der Einnahmen für sich behält, dürfte genug beim Entwickler bleiben. Mir ist schon klar, das ihr nicht grad ein großes Team seit, aber ihr pisst mit dieses Spiel die falschen Leute an. Leute die Fans der Serie sind und die gerne bereit sind, Geld für ein Ordentliches Spiel bezahlen würden. Nur was ihr hier abliefert, ist nicht mal 5 Euro wert.

Also ich hatte in der Alpha noch große Hoffnung das dass noch ein Gutes Spiel wird aber ich wurde echt enttäuscht.
Es wurde nichts am schiff gemacht man kann sich nicht mal in der Brücke richtig umschauen sondern auch die Sichtweite ist richtig schlimm (gefühlt 30m). Man kann keine anderen schiffe sehen man fühlt sich die ganze zeit alleine. Die Besatzung die man anstellen kann schauen richtig schlecht aus. Es gibt immer noch Bugs die seit der Einführung der Besatzung nicht behoben wurden.

Also ich kann zu zeit nur von den Spiel abraten bis die Bugs behoben wurden und grundlegende Sachen wie sich in der Brücke umschauen, die Sichtweite und andere schiffe/Fanggerät nicht eingeführt haben macht das spiel auf lange Sicht kein Spaß zu spielen.

Einfach ein Bugfest trotz der ganzen patche ist das spiel immer noch sehr verbugt. was ich bei mir jetzt festgestellt habe ist das beim zeit überspringen im Ladebildschirm sich das spiel aufhängt, dies passiert nur wenn ich öfter hintereinander die Zeit überspringe !

Man kann sich dran gewöhnen, allerdings finde ich das man bisher wirklich keinen Fortschritt erarbeiten kann. Auch verschwinden nach einem neu einloggen auf einmal Körbe die man auf der See gelassen hat.

Ich wünschte mir das man schnellstens sich verbessern kann, bzw die Crew und das Schiff.

Honestly, I enjoyed it. It could still use some polish, ngl. Although, I did find myself playing for hours. Occasionally, I found some bugs like one where the grappling hooks were all stuck together and I wasn't able to use them or store them, but a quick save and load fixed it. Also, another bug I found was one where my pot was out of range from the crane, again another save and load fixed it. And occasionally you'll have a bit of difficulty when sorting crabs where the game won't let you grab them. You just have to have a little patience and you get it eventually. My computer isn't particularly powerful, but even with my i5 and GT 730 I got around 18 to 23 FPS. Honestly, I'm not sure why I enjoy it, but I do. I guess it's the overall simplicity of the game. Just keep in mind before buying that if you don't have patience, you will hate this game. Although, if you don't mind the wait or investing some time into it, then you may enjoy it. The price of the game in my opinion is a little bit high, but you are supporting development when you pay as much as you do. If you find a bug don't worry, the developers have a bug report button. Just click it and type a detailed description of the bug. The graphics? Honestly even on low it's okay. I haven't seen it on settings above low because I have a low-end gpu, but from the videos, it looks good. Finally, there is an in-game leaderboard where you compete against AI opponents which I really enjoyed. You can also actually find and sail close to these AI ships!

Ill make it clear that I absolutely love Deadliest catch the Tv show, but ouch this game was painful! Alaskan Storm from back in the day was a way better put together game then this.

If you are a fan of the show then this will be a fun game to play.

Things are still clearly being ironed out so please manage your expectations, but it still captures that crabbing experience.

If i could make a suggestion to the developers, the AI crewmen have improved, but the captain needs more options regarding crew orders and priorities etc.

My suggestion would be to split the duties into better categories such as rail/hydros/bait
With the above in mind you can hire someone to operate the controls on the hydros without moving from that spot and someone else to do rail duty, which means less men running around like headless chickens and getting in each others way.

The only time someone should be moving on deck is when they are moving from the rail to the bait/buoy's and back during pot preparation, or back round the table to sort crab, leaving a second guy working on the controls of the hydros to save the other crew running back and forth from the controls to his other jobs etc and allowing a more seamless crew synergy, otherwise it really defeats the purpose of having more than 1 deckhand.

Additionally, in its current state captains are forced between 3 modes, pot setting, pot collecting, and resting. In order for the crew to work more efficiently we need a fourth option (collect and reset) to pull a pot out of the sea, empty the crab, rebait and reset the pot in the sea where it came from.

This is needed because as of now you have to manually switch between pot setting and pot collecting between every pot you wish to pull out and empty whilst utilising crewmen to perform those tasks.

If i set the crew to pot collecting they will collect the pot, and i can get them to empty it and sort the crab, but there is no option to reset the pot back in the sea, if you have 1 crewman as a sorter you can save yourself a ton of time rebaiting the pots and resetting them yourself while he sorts crab...... however this creates a new problem,

If you reset the pot yourself and your crew is set to pot collection, Harry sorter will run over and begin hooking the pot you have just dropped in the sea because that was his set job, this wastes the bait and uses more if you decide to set the pot back in the water again, only this/next time remembering to turn pot collection off allowing you to rebait and set the pot without the crew instantly trying to retrieve said pot.

You need to manually turn off collecting by switching back to setting and then drop the pot back after you bait etc, and then drive the boat forward and manually switch back to pot collecting in order for your crew to retrieve the next pot.

Pretty good game so far. Still as early stages but will continue to play more and see what I can unlock and test out.
Needs Co Op or multiplayer where you can compete against other players in a season then it would be sweet.

Overall has a good idea. But i had to say: Was it that hard to make a great game like the 2008 one? The answer is: If they already did, it wasn't. Buy it on a sale just as i did.

At the time of this review; the game is on sale for 3$ during the holiday sale.

That said; When this game first launched, I wasn't even able to get through the tutorial.
Playing it today (12/29/2021) I was able to actually play through that and get into my first season! The new devs that have taken this game under their wing are working tirelessly to bring us the game that this should be, and I'm super thankful for that. Their work shows, and will only get better.

Now is, in my opinion, the perfect time to grab this game (even if you decide to sit on it for a while).
Great potential here, and I'm excited for what the future holds for all of us fans!

I really wanted to give this game a thumbs up but DO NOT buy this game at full price ( I got it on sale with two other games I haven't installed yet but still cheaper than the ridiculous $20CAD+ price tag). Game is fun for a few hours but there is NO challenge what so ever. You are challenged to a bet by another captain each season but they can't even come close to the numbers you put up. You will have every skill and upgrade by the end of Season 2. The bugs were the final nail in the coffin for me, so frustrating. Lots of features you will never use, you can hire guys right from the start (with upgrading) so no need to even sort yourself. Also do not bother hiring 4 guys, completely pointless and causes even more glitches and bugs/ Lots of potential but as of right now I would not recommend at full price. If you do buy it, make sure you save A LOT as there are a ton of glitches that will make you have to exit out and lose progress.

The game itself is decent, it's all the bugs that have been in it and are still in it that make the game unplayable. You get so far and then something goes wrong and totally breaks the game, wasting the hours you've spent getting to that point. I can't help it I keep coming back to find changes have happened, spend hours on the game then a game breaking bug occurs.

At first the game looks good but later it gets boring. There is no challenge no real storms to make you hold the ship in position or prevent it from sinking. There is no icing of the ship that has to be removed or the ship will sink. The crew have no character or dialog no groans or arguments. The devs need to find a copy of Alaskan storm to what the game should be like.

Lots of bugs. I like the game so much, I decided not to give up. By saving game, reloading game, reassigning crew duties, swearing, spitting ........ I've now managed to get halfway through my first season. It's a great game, but there are bugs that should be fixed.
*UPDATE* After struggling for around 70 hours with this, I'm finally giving up. Can't even get through a season. Do not purchase this game. Without a doubt, the worst game purchase I've ever made.

Needs so much work so dont invest time yet, there as so many bugs, dont hire more then 1 crew as they normally bug out when doing tasks leading to you doing tasks as they wont launch the pots when ready or when it launches they can just stand like statues. the game has no character unlike previous titles like Alaskan Storm, there is zero danger involved for one of the most dangerous jobs. i started the second season and loaded onto the water and was told my boat sank and my career was over and i had no idea why, other then that you have no danger involved whatsoever. the boat is too robotic in its movement also and you dont see anyone else on the water unless randomly they have broken down and i had to figure this myself as there isnt a prompt to tow a colleague etc as stated at the start the game needs a ton of work. Hope this helps.

I'm baffled how this game runs my PC harder than a triple A title, yet has the graphics from a Play Station 2. Just sad, because the idea of the game is cool, but dang is this the least optimized game in the world. it probably would make an Nvidia RTX 3080 drop frames. DON'T BUY THIS WRECK OF A GAME!

wow where do i start, i have played for about 26 hours now i guess, and through it all i delt with snags and many reloads, my helpers don't function well under stress i guess and all station about the ship have glitches from the crane, to the lift, and even the wench. How ever i managed to stumble through all that and got to season 3. that's when i got my mind blow away here are some pics of the event https://prnt.sc/1rrrawv the season starts off with like 29 million days or something witch makes this next image almost funny except it caused me to be locked in a stalemate, between starting over or prying that they can fix the bug. The cost for a helper is so high i don't even know what this number is https://prnt.sc/1rrrer1 but as if that wasn't the worst that could happen this happens.....thinking ok no problem ill just start the season over right? WRONG its like y2k all over again the number of days of the season is so large the game cant figure that much and locks up.

The name of the boat does not appear the crew will not hook the pot because its not in range even tho its right next to the boat.

its got lots of potential but just isn't there yet. it would be nice to play with friends instead of AI people. and GOOD LORD, PLEASE FIX THESE BUGS AND FRAME DROPS. still very much there despite the may update.
the latest beta just took the ability to even sail in storms. this may be the game killer if not dead already unless fixed. immediately damaged my ship. really? isn't this DEADLIEST CATCH? if i wanted to fish in calm weather all the time id play Fishing North Atlantic. you have the potential to make this a great game. please fix this. also when the storm damaged my ship (really?) i radioed rescue (which would of been $17k with only $19 in the bank. yeah, bad situation) and my game froze lost all progress as i had to restart my game. $100k worth of crab gone. bummer.

continue the efforts to fix this game and maybe ill give this another chance but its just too frustrating to play right now.

Not Worth the headache buying this game . so many bug it never should have been released. Tilt table freezes up , the sorting table stops working often. the crane don't work half the time , and the biggest problem is the hook /winch line to hook the basket/pod on to the tilt table , . got 22 .6 hours on this game and 20 hours was trying to get glitches released by saving game and reloading the saved game. sometimes it worked out by loading up saved game but more often it didn't.. total waste of $$ , DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!!! Plus there is so many other issues with crashes. TOTAL THUMBS DOWN !! My RATING on this game is a 2 out of 10

This game is NOT ready to be played. It's basically on Alpha stage, pre-Alpha compared to Alaskan Storm.

Horrible bugs, shallow environment, lack of passion and immersion, weird animations, broken AI, very few features compared to Alaskan Storm, no morale, no autopilot, no disasters, no events, no everything.

Seriously, just find and play Alaskan Storm, it's far better even at this day.

This game is a excellent game. It well worth the price. There alot of stuff that you can do as well as compete each season against other players. However i do wish there was a Muiltplayer where u and your friends can join on the same vessel. Hopefully in newer updates this may happen. For now i would recommend this game to others as it well worth it.

It's definitely a work in progress. If you liked any of the other games like this you'll enjoy it. A lot of reviews about game breaking things that have bee.n fixed oy I found fixable with a simple reboot of the game. So basically it is close to bare bones but LOTs of room to grow if you just give it time and the feedback they need to continue building and Improving the game.

Not in a good place. Crane stops working not broken but repair anyway still doesn't move. Many things are still very broken. For the price might be ok if they get basics working. At this point not playable. No way to recover from problems. Save games work sometimes sometimes not. If you can get it cheap why not if you love the show.

I've put in almost 13 hours on this game, and I think I've played enough to form a cohesive opinion on this game. When the game works, it's great and a lot of fun, with a good challenge, and some fun mechanics. The unfortunate reality is the game does not work very often. Whether it's your ship immediately sinking when you enter a storm (how often does that actually happen? Most boats can weather a storm), your crew just refusing to work even when everything is oiled and repaired. The amount of times, as captain, that you have to leave as wheelhouse because your crew just doesn't know what to do next is incredibly frustrating. Not to mention when you first start out, and are on your own, you get punished for getting larger amounts of crab, as you have to determine their size and gender, individually, so the more crab you get, the more time it takes. I had to sort through 400 crab, which took a good 25 minutes of time. It needs a lot of work, and as far as I can see it only includes one crab season, instead of splitting between King and Opelio. It'd be nice to have some variety, and challenges such as the ship icing over, etc. Overall Alaskan Storm is a better game, even though it's dated and tough to get working on modern hardware.

BROKEN!

What could have been an incredibly fun simulation for one of my favorite television shows, is nothing more than a shoddy, bug-infested mess. There are so many bugs and glitches that this game needs one of those fumigation tents to cover it all.

The simple fact that 95% of the people who have attempted this dumpster fire are unable to advance beyond the tutorial is embarrassing. I'm glad that I waited until it was 75% off, but as it stands, the game should probably be removed from Steam until the Devs can get their proverbial sh*t together and create a playable experience for their customers.

I strongly recommend avoiding this.

This game is very buggy and glitchy. My crew keeps getting stuck (walking on spot), I fell through the floor once and my ship sunk during tutorial (which means I had to start again). The idea is really cool, but the game itself is very poorly made.

I would avoid currently as the game doesn't actually let you load or save your progress as soon as you click save it crashes and if you press escape it unfreezes but you cant do anything nothing is accessible as if your mouse is broken.

A lot of bugs in the game, some times the menu doesnt work or pick up crabs but they are dont go away.
So many bugs in playing it in only 5 hours of play, very poor. also when you go to pick up pot there is big blind part were the pot is, so very hard to see. did these guys not play the game for an hour? also cant put down a string of pots just one and then have fast forward. it is worest the older game, Were is the game skill in the game I see none, Just pick up pot and drop it. Very boring. For a fan of Deadliest Catch this is shit, I would play the other game than this.

Play the free demo instead. You won't be able to save your progress but then you can't do that in the full game either. It's got a lot of potential but it also needs a ton of work. I'll be hoping to see more work put into this, and if it gets to a good place where you can play it properly, then I'll try again. Until then, it's a nope.

the game itself has potential, it is pretty addictive however.... the AI are derpy and can sometimes bug out.... along with the entire game if you attempt to save, the game will go into a semi crash state where most things will not work and the only way to exit the game is ctrl, alt,del and opening task manager to close the program, if you want to continue your save dont count on it as there is more chance of you winning the lottery than being able to continue a saved game

please dont take this as extremely negative! yes there are a few bugs with this game but i would happily wait a couple weeks if the devs are good enough to fix it, then i can see this game gathering a relitively large community

Oj oj first impressions very bad unfortunetely - bugs, crashes, freezes, cant save the game, character controlls feels unresponsive, mouse freezes, menu dont respond. Ugh. I would hold on with the purchase if I were You.

The game is glitchy. certain aspects of the gamecould have used more thought. As you have seen in other reviews the game dosnt save, making it pointless to me. I have 3 hours of playtime so naturally i wont recieve a refund.

The game is being worked on by a new developer and you can really tell it has made a difference. They are dedicated to fixing this bug mess and in the near future we will truly have a playable game. Today they released a beta update fixing the save/load issues that kept this game from having a chance. With more work it could really turn out to be a diamond in the rough.

This game is broken, the save system is non-functional. Any attempt to save or load results in the game freezing and/or becoming unresponsive. The actual gameplay seems to run fine, but if you can't save your progress...
I advise saving your money for now, I cannot recommend this. I will change this review IF they fix it.

This game imo is amazing. new dev team are working hard and so far have improved the game to some extent, in terms with bugs, yes there are a few which can be game ending but if you can get a good run without bugs happening (which ive had) its really good game imo. so far the major bug is the saving. currently the save and load options are broken. everytime you try to save. it freezes making progression impossible. hopefully it will be resovled in the january update. ive also ran into the bug where the hook gets stuck in a pot when bringing aboard the ship. basicly the hook is inside the pot but u cant grab the pot or the hook to put the pot on the launcher meaning you cant retrive the pots ( game ending have to restart).

So long story short, yes buy now while on sale, great game but very buggy, dev team are working hard to fix those bugs but it takes time, eventually this game will be bug free and be amazing esppecialy with our new devs already having plans for more content which recently they added more crab speacies and the ability to walk around the wheelhouse.
with the game concept and mechaincs, take away the bugs, giving this game a 8/10

I can not control my mouse on this game no matter where i put my mouse sensitivity it takes me for ever to be able to walk or to try and look at one of the controls to be able to use. I brought this up to steam and asked for a refund and because i have spent 3.5 hrs trying to figure this out they will not refund me or wont even put it on my wallet so i can purchase a different game. this is so sad because i really wanted to be able to play this game but there is no way i can and there is no working with steam SAD SAD SAD

This will never get good. A menu for harbor? A teleportation from port to fishing grounds and back? Endless sea around us the only thing we get to see? This would not be enough even for a naval combat sim, let alone a sim where there isn't much to do besides navigating around fishing grounds (and setting pots of course).
Just dig up the old Deadliest Catch game (yep, there is one). It is still leagues better than this toy. At least back there you can actually sail out of Dutch Harbor (and other ports) and sail back in. And don't get me started on other things that one got right.

You guys messed up this game so bad.
The game I remember doesn't have this wierd arcade feel to it, why doesn't the workers have attributes anymore, you always catch a good load of crab never a load with to many females or to many small crabs. The feeling of realism has totally disappeared.
Go back to how this game was before, PLEASE

Sorry devs - you had one job - give us a next gen version of the old game with updated graphics and some new systems/career mode and I reckon most of us would have rejoiced and thrown money at add-ons and DLC.

This isn't remotely close...given up waiting for it to get better.

This game has more bugs than a Costa Rican jungle.

I got this for cheap during Early Access and I still feel ripped off.

Your crew members are more braindead than any creature in Night of The Living Dead.
Equipment items, crabs and buckets magically disappear after hours of work.
If this game released in the early 2000s its graphics would still be embarrassing.

How was this released for sale by any living, breathing human? Avoid at all costs.

I have over 53 hours into this game so far. I bought it in alpha because it has AMAZING potential, and I even joined the Discord. The old Devs were talkative, and seemed to be on top of pushing updates and bug fixes. They then decided to push the full release, even though it is nowhere even close to being ready. As soon as they put out the full release, they informed us that there are new devs and they are off the project. Since then we have had barely any communication from the new devs, no updates other than a broken boat DLC that even breaks the game and the other boat, and no matter how many times we post the same bug reports over and over they just ignore us. The only stable version is the public BETA and even then it's riddled with issues. The crew wont do what they are supposed to, people spawn in crab pots, the crane goes all sideways, you fall through the map into a void of nothing...and the list goes on and on and on. They won though...they got my money, they got plenty of other people's kickstarter money and then ditched us with Devs who dont give to shits about us or the game. I will update this in the future if things change, but for now...please dont give these people any of your hard earned money...they do not deserve a dime after how they have screwed us.

TL:DR; Waste of money, Devs don't care about us or the game, only fed excuses, riddled with bugs and issues, BETA is more stable than retail.

Game is literally almost unplayable with the bugs... I lasted 2 hours trying to piece together this game. IMO worth under 5$ and might not even be that. I came across MULTIPLE bugs in first 30 mins of gameplay... its unplayable in current state.

First game I have EVER asked for a refund. How this game is associated with discovery is a joke.

Full release game that should never have left alpha stage. Absolutely RIDDLED with bugs. Definitely needs some work to be able to be fully enjoyable. Would not recommend picking this one up unless its on a pretty hefty sale.

For now game is unplayable. Crane does not work. Can`t pickup pots, so you can`t even start tutorial or real game. Also AI have same problem with crane, so you can`t work at all.

The idea of the game is great but it is rushed and their are so many bugs its impossible to play the crane cross hair is so of that u cant pick the pots up and put them on the launcher and the controls are way of. I do not recommend this game!!!!

I can really see the potential in this game... but... Right now there is a lot of bugs with the crane and the hook... I just launched the game for the first time and i couldn't even move the pot to the launcher. Hope you'll fix this :)

Did they let a team of 8th graders design this one? The control interface is HORRIBLE. I can't see how anyone could possibly enjoy this game. Absolute waste of money.

Devastating game bug on the mechanics pop up just in the air.

-- I start up the game for the very first time and of course i start with the tutorial. After i have done 50 % of it i got a new message : use the crane again and place your crab pot on it and when we doing that a ghost crab pot should show up on the table where we need to drop it.
So i use my crane and grab the crab pot and i didn`t see any ghost on the table so i aim at that table and drop my crab pot just to give it a try without any crab pot ghost and my crab pot just disappear in the air and now my crane is stuck and i am not able to use it anymore so i need to restart the tutorial again.

-- Well after i have finished the tutorial for the second time i decided to start up the real game. I use my crane and drop my crab pot on the table where i see the ghost crab pot and make it ready and throw it out in the ocean.
So now i do the same where i use my crane and grab a crab pot and again none crab pot ghost on the table so i place it down and give it a new try but still none crab pot ghost.
So i drop it on the table without any ghost and my crab pot disappeared out in the ocean and again my crane is stuck and i am not able to continue anymore because i can`t use my crane and i didn`t save either and need to restart again

-- This happened on the tutorial where i was forced to restart it and now on the real game as well on the second crab pot and again this devastating bug pop up.

I buy a game where i gonna fishing crab and i am not able to place down my crab pot on the table to make it ready , what is going on here !!!

I am still at the harbour after 25 gaming hour where that bug pop up and make it impossible to play.

-- By the way the save mechanics have some issue as well where the game can`t load all info.

-- After the new update i spawn inside my crab pot when i gonna travel and now we cant play at all.

-- That new DLC ship has so much bug and i got stuck on my first crab pot my worker gonna collect and now i can`t play with that ship either.

-- Basically i can`t even start to fish crab.

Added this 27 agust :

After the last update 25 juli i spawn inside my crab pot every time i try to start up the game and i am not able to break free. Today 27 august more than 1 month ago i still spawn inside my crab pot and other player as well.

Game has quite a few bugs including unresponsive NPC's, Memory leaks, and save issues. It can be fun for a sim game but becomes very frustrating when after playing a few hours and you try to save your game and not be able to. I have been 2 hours into a game and had the NPC lock up and make mechanics unavailable such as stacking pots or pulling pots.

it's fun. only on my 2nd season. could have more of a competition between other boats. glitchy at some point. Opelio crab? More different depths. only one is relavent so far. but I do like the idea and attempt at this kinda of game. keep doing update to smoothing things out more

Dont know why this game is called deadliest catch it has nothing to do with the show. it should be called king crab simulator. The boat cant even hold a realistic amount of crab or pots. need to add more boats to purchase, co-op, snow crab season, and a cod season. also has way too many bugs crew members get stuck on eachother and stop working, had my crane stop working halfway through my pot string for no reason. the launcher has a forcefield around it that makes it twice the size it actually is so you get stuck on it every time you try to through your small/ female crab overboard. need upgrades to boat like a conveyer that automatically puts the good crab in your tank. this game could be a great game just a long way off.

Game has hard locked my machine multiple times. Crashes without rhyme or reason, and does not have an auto save feature which results in hours of lost work. Interface is clunky and graphics are sub par. Waste of money that I won't be refunded for, being as I spent 5 hours trying to work through the issues.

Worth it for the price this game is still getting updated and has new things coming all the time pretty cool and very fun if you like sim games check it out the more we support different games the better they become and it's so cheap for the time you will spend on it
have fun and support fishing games as that's how all game get better and certain categories get more games if something becomes a hit the hole category pops of all types of water games you may be interested in and a lot of the time even big game company will add a lot of DLC support the thing you like always as it's up to you the big corp funder's never spend big even in AA games for the amount of tun over they make compared to new or off topic games to the mainstream so support them little games the best you can or one-day games will not be as vast don't ever forget that gamer's.

The idea of the game is good but there are far to many bug's and glitches like falling off your boat and going through the world or having 3 of your workers walking in to each other and getting stuck together and not working or having the waiting slider coming up and then you can not do anything else and you have to close your game.

I got this game on day one of early access and had hoped for it to develop into a quality fun game. The dev road map was nice to see at first until I realized it wasn't followed very well. Had hoped for a multi-player option to have friends on a crew or fleet but that doesn't seem to be in the plans. I laughed when I saw they went full release cause its nowhere near a full release in my opinion. Game needs another of improvements and features to make it a sound purchase. Devs should listen to their fans and mold an early access game to fit. I should have learned after Gold Rush did the same thing. Muliplayer would be a game changer I feel and multiple species of crabs. If those were added I may change my mind but for now this game belongs on the bottom of the Bering Sea.

Ok, this is my first ever review of a game.
The reason I have been prompted to do this is because this game has some real problems, and it is a shame, because it is quite addictive. Yes, the graphics are 10 years old, and the game play is very basic, but it has potential.
I really love the Deadliest Catch TV show, I have watched it for years now, but unfortunately the makers of this game can't have watched it much, because the game does not replicate it close enough.
There are too many limitations, too many repetitions and too many bugs for it to be truly playable in its present form.
I understand it is only around £8 to by and yes I did try the free demo so I made the choice to see if the full game was more in depth than the demo, but no, it is not! it is just the same??
But without doubt the biggest problem I keep finding is that the game constantly crashes!!! I have to remember to keep saving every 5 minutes just in case it crashes.
I really think this game needs a major overhaul to justify the name 'Deadliest Catch: The Game'
List of issues that need to be sorted:
1- Keeps Crashing
2 - AI is rubbish
3 - Campaign is too basic, and you should have to start lower down the chain rather than starting with a large vessel and decent money.
4 - King crab, is all you can fish for?? Where are the alternative species?? and why can't you fish for bait, like Cod etc?
5 - More random crab numbers, I either seem to get none or 80 per pot??

These are but a few improvements that need to be made to make this game what it should be. I agree with many other comments that this game should still be early access, and it is just not finished enough for release.

Game overall is good, But there are a lot of glitches. Save the game and come back and the crab in your tank are gone, or the string you set is gone. Also it'd be nice too be able too fish for other crab than just King Crab

Very fun for the first few hours but then it becomes boring. Wish you could choose between different boats and customize them more. They also need to fix some bugs, I kept running into the issue of the game glitching and not letting me pull the pots on board. I also randomly lost a pot after I baited it and put buoys on it. When I dumped it over board it just disappeared and I got charged a fine for losing a pot. Overall has potential but the devs need to work on it more.

Terrible. Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm from 2008 is much better, and more complete. This game is garbage. Doesn't even come close to being as full and entertaining as a game that is 12 years old... epic fail... It's more like a mobile app gimic or a VR experience than an actual game...

On top of a review I want to point out the obvious. Its early access so people need to cut a little slack. Demanding the game be free when its 10 dollars is dumb. People spend that at taco bell for 15 minutes of enjoyment. I love what you guys are doing with this project and I look forward to this update this month. Keep up the good work.

On the review side. The tutorial being broken was frustrating to figure out so that does need fixed. But once I figured that out and went to the campain for the meat and potatoes it led me to alot of fun.

Pros:
+ It's an amazing concept and very different.
+ Devs seem to be working on it quite frequently.

Cons:
- Still too buggy to be worth your money.
- Tutorials are in broken English making it difficult to understand.
- Graphics are dark with poor in-game lighting.

Just meh in all aspects of the game. once you've completed the tutorial youve played the whole game basically. Played a couple hours but not a very rewarding player experience, theres not much keeping you wanting to play.

Okay, so this is a pre-release and I recommend this game only to the true believers in such things. If you are expecting a bugless, fleshed out and feckless simulation of a very entertaining reality show, then keep walking player, there's nuttin' to see here. This game is currently in a state of development that allows for very limited play but we knew that going in because they told us so. What there is so far though, I am very happy with how it is progressing. They are absolutely working hard on this game so far and they listen to players. I don't feel comfortable writing any detailed commentary on engine workings, graphics or sound. You know, everything that goes in a game review. Because it is very pre-release and I don't think it would be fair to cast about with premature judgements so far before the game has a chance to at least get close to release. All I will offer at this point is that it is looking like a great game in development. We ALL KNOW that it could go in any direction from here. Happens to us constantly. The Dev's of DC:TG really seem on top of things though and are not afraid to push out minor updates and fixes, as well as feature updates when they are ready. I guess I am just saying that I believe this game will make it to the finish line and I personally think it is going to be well worth the wait.

Now if you are impatient, lack understanding and just have no concept of what a pre-release is all about then stick to full release stuff. So many people get aggravated with alphas and betas. I play a LOT of early stuff because I like seeing them come together sometimes and if I really like the idea of the game, then I want to get them some extra dev money because some houses need to pay property tax even before they are done building, and hopefully that's because it will be a giant party mansion soon enough. Now even I have returned a couple of pre-release games because some devs can take the idea of pre-release WAY too far. This is playable (albeit limited while in the works).

I'm actually enjoying this game. I love simulations and this one is pretty cool. It only took me manually identifying about a thousand crabs to figure out I didn't need to run the entire boat by myself and that I could hire crew to do things. Hiring someone to sort the crabs for me was the best money I ever spent. Now, I can sit back and watch the crew do the majority of the work and I can focus on my smoking and drinking habits while I rake in the money. I can't wait until I have enough money to afford cocaine.

This game is something else! yes its an early release and there are a few bugs but it is very playable. and with each update it gets better and better. its not as repetitive as other fishing games. it has very nice graphics.

First let me say that this game is not for everyone. It reminds me of many games that you have to harvest this to get that. Then that enables you to get more of this. I have been a fan of Deadliest Catch since it's start. I also like sailing games. So this all blends well with me. This game will drive twitch players mad.
I see the vision of the devs in the skills store, the ship upgrade store, the bar, and others. As more of it is added, the game expands exponentially. Right now it is enough to try to emulate the drive of the ship captains to keep moving and bringing in fish while the fishing season is open. It is a race against time to make the most money possible during the season.
The in game manual really helps. As I progressed, and did know how to do something, or what decision to make, the manual explained it very well.
As I just started my journey today, I cannot tell you what lies ahead. But I am looking forward to it.
