Man kauf das Addon nur damit man dann direkt wieder vor einer Paywall steht und erstmal schön Seasonpass after Seasonpass kaufen darf für schlechten Grind Kontent ohne Sinn und verstand weil 1 Season später einfach das Gear lvl angehoben wird damit man wieder zum max lvl farmt . Einfach eine Schlechte BeschäftigungsTherapie aber das Gunplay ist immer noch einer der beste schade was aus dem Game geworden ist

Es ist zwar die erste Edition die ich von Destiny 2 habe aber eins kann ich auf jeden fall sagen: KLASSE bungie! Die Missionen haben undenkbar viel Spaß gemacht außerdem kann man ziemlich coole Rüstungen bekommen (auch exos) Ich weiß nicht warum bei mir steht das diese Version äußerst negativ bewertet ist???? Ich finde die persönlich SUPER!

If you buy this DLC it won't be in the game for long. Bungie likes to take your money and then delete the DLC content from the game a few months later.

Shadowkeep was fun when it first came out. Thanks to FOMO and vaulting it is nearly obsolete nowadays. You are better off spending the money somewhere else.

switched from xbox to pc, and honestly, dont even know why I bought it lmao. That goes for forsaken as well. I've played the campaign(s) on all 3 characters so its nothing new. The only reason I could see myself buying these dlcs is to use the exotics, because I believe you can't even use them unless you own the required dlc which is bs. And I guess also the pretty mediocre weapons that have been reused about a hundred times with each season. But yeah, big waste of money unless you see yourself playing the dlc content religiously, which isn't even worth it anymore. Better off just getting the individual season passes or Witch Queen which are actually good and aren't going anywhere any time soon. And don't even get me started on how all this is going to be removed from the game anyway. Money down the drain

An okay expansion with a decent story. Felt like the story could've been expanded on more and the content itself is a bit of a mixed bag. Definitely not bad to grab on sale. Full price though? Ehhh...

Why are they selling a DLC with 90% content removed from the game? Avoid this.

Long time Destiny fan since the first game, I tolerated reused assets and content and managed to ignore time consuming currencies and reward mechanics. Gameplay was just so fun, probably the best gunplay out there.

Jumped ship after they started removing content to 'vault' it and very likely sell it again in the near future.

I assumed whole DLCs removed from the game would also be removed from sale but hey! Here they are, isn't it a scam? At some point Bungie made us believe Activision was the problem. Obviously it wasn't.

Shadowkeep is the embodiment of mediocre. Most if not all of the content is now irrelevant unless you want a few okay legendary weapons and armor for armor synthesis. However, there are some decent exotics that are worth using. Shadowkeep's campaign is mediocre at best and comes to screeching halt when you are required to complete a set of armor by doing busy work. The dungeon is okay and I personally have not done the raid but community reception is pretty mixed on it. I wouldn't bother with this expansion unless you really want to have access everything that Destiny 2 has to offer.

I do not understand the Shadowkeep hate. For me the story campaign was short and sweet, the exotics are good, and everything else is good. Only thing I don't like is that $25 is a bit overpriced.

shadowkeep is just okay. is it worth full price? no. is it worth like $10? sure. the exotics, raid, and dungeon are all really good, but other than that there isnt much to the DLC. only get this if you are a completionist.

I love the universe Bungie has created with Destiny and Destiny 2, the universe they've made is the only reason I keep coming back to the game. I simply can't recommend Destiny 2 or any future Bungie game for that matter. Their blatant anti consumer practice of hiding rather large disclaimers in the fine print is a major turn off for me. Take not that when you buy this game or any DLC you are only RENTING that for as long as they want to continue supporting it, even though they certainly don't advertise that. It makes me incredibly sad to see the developers of some of my favorite games as a kid do this to their costomers. (note that I also play this on ps4 so i have no idea how much of my life I really wasted playing this game.)

I thought this dlc was ok. Not great but not horrible. Too bad it's gettin flushed down the toilet in a few months.

And the fact that Bungie hasn't pulled it from the store or at least seriously dropped the price and clearly state that the content your paying for will be unavailable starting February on the store page is disgusting. Had I known Bungie was planning on scrapping paid content I never would have paid for dlc, and I feel like that should have to be clearly disclosed on the store page.

Unironically the content vault has sucked all my motivation out of this game. Will I pay for the Witch Queen dlc coming out next year? Probably not.

I absolutely despise solfware and game companies feeling entitled to remove content they already sold us. We're not allowed to own anything anymore, only rent it.

This DLC is virtually worthless in the current state of the game. With the advent of sunsetting and content vaulting, much of the content is either out of the game or worthless to do. Even the remaining content that is still worthwhile in game drops lackluster loot. Lackluster loot, decent exotics and a fantastic dungeon are all you are getting for the purchase. It's not worth a buy unless it is on sale for less than $10.

Worst expansion so far.

Campaign was shit and short and most missions consisted of collectathons and other
boring busywork.
The Destination we got was mostly the original moon from D1 with a few new areas
Nightmares, the ''new enemy type'' introduced in shadowkeep are mostly reused assets
from D1 and older D2 Expansions and thats all.
Altars of Sorrow is pretty fun and great for farming catalysts but lacks loot and variety, it had potential.
Nightmare Hunts are just renamed strikes and the only loot exclusive to them are mods
that are useless because nightmares DONT EVEN APPEAR IN THE RAID, also most
of them are just missions from the campaign unsurprisingly.
We only got 2 actual strikes from it (Now 1 since Io is gone forever and Festering Core went
down with it)
Pit of Heresy is pretty challenging but once again it lacks loot (and my god the ship is so
awful). Im pretty sure bungie was too lazy to make new weapons so they just removed one
weapon from the Lectern and put it there (You cant even farm it with Essences once you
obtain it once)
The Weapons. Well all of them except 4 are sunset so uhh yeah, we can go f
ourselves i guess. [spoiler]Thanks Bungie[/spoiler]
Garden of Salvation. I played the raid and found most of the encounters to be buggy
and frustrating, especially the final boss. The weapons are okay and and look pretty cool but
theres not a single heavy weapon in there lmao.
Now the armor, oh boy the armor. Its literally a reskin of Eververse armor ornament sets from
Curse of Osiris with some blue lights attached to them (You cannot even change the color of
them). Now if you look at the season pass armor ornaments from Season of Undying you
might notice how similar they look to the weapons from the Raid. Interesting isnt it?
Overall the expansion sucks and is not worth the nearly 30 dollars you have to
pay for it, i would rather play Curse of Osiris again
The only redeeming qualities are the Exotics and the Soundtrack
Buy only on huge discount or if you really really need Xenophage for something

Great game but Bungie sun-setting everything is the worst thing to ever happen. So many people (including me) payed over 100$ worth of DLCs plus the actual game just for it all to disappear. Its basically a game with an expiration date.

Sunsetting gear is not acceptable，and I will quit once my current high stat gears are sunsetted， which is August this year.

I just glided my Conqueror title before I saw that F***ing transmog system announcement. Suddenly I feel tired. All those ridiculous grindy steps made me feel completely disappointed about Bungie. Sunset, Destiny content vault, seasonal challenge, step by step Bungie have made playing this game more of a torture than fun. So I think it's time to say goodbye.
I shouldn't pre-order Beyond light, I should've known that Activision or Bungie, they are all the same.

Genuinely don't know why people hate so much on this expansion. The story was mediocre, but nothing too bad. The moon returned from the first game, but with enough changes and additions to make it worthwhile. The Garden of Salvation raid is fun with a unique mechanic. The Pit of Heresy Dungeon is a solid experience for those looking for something between a strike and raid. The seasons pass was added which overall is pretty good, about what you'd expect. The exotic quests for divinity and xenophage are well done and are great weapons even today. The reviews are likely mass hate from the community as that is the games biggest weakness. Would I recommend? Yes, but stay away from the community, they are peak toxicity.

I would only buy this expansion only if you you want Xenophage and make sure it is on sale pretty much half the game is sunset which makes the DLC useless.

My review of Shadowkeep goes along with my review of the full game and I am going to go against the norm for reviews of this DLC. I will start with that while I do agree in partial to most of the criticism this DLC has received since it launched but where I depart from those reviews is the extent of how it effects the experience. As a hardcore Destiny fan I mostly subscribe to the idea even bad or underwhelming Destiny content is still normally good content mainly because of how this game attracts you and what it accomplishes in comparison to other games and while I will say Shadowkeep is one of the weaker DLCs that has been released in the Destiny series it is still very far from being bad or unplayable and at its core it is still Destiny and all of its amazing story and fun game play so I really can't say its bad and if you truly enjoy Destiny you will need it in your collection to get the full experience as Pit of Hersey, Garden of Salvation, and the Xenophage and Divinity exotic weapons obtained from it are worth it in the long run.

This content may have been worth it when it came out a year ago just to be able to play the most recent content. However now it's a really questionable purchase. The campaign is pretty quick and shallow, and ends on a cliffhanger (though we are at the point where that's somewhat resolved). There's little the Moon offers that can't be gotten elsewhere. Unless you really want gear from the dungeon/raid or the exclusive exotics, don't bother.

i really loved this expansion when it first came out, good rewards and a fun story. however recent events have caused it to be utterly dead and redundant. all guns are sunset and cant be brought to power (even with sunsetting now somewhat removed) and the matchmade activities involved are also just utterly dead.

To this day Shadowkeep is one of the weakest dlc's to ever grace this franchise. I see no real need to purchase this now over Beyond light or forsaken unless you want the raid and the exotic tied to it. I played this game and pretty much nothing else last year and still do not remember a bit from this campaign.

Honestly for 25 fucking dollars go buy forsaken not this! Honestly the only somewhat decent thing is Garden but its just not worth 25 dollars imo. The story line also sucks ass and makes no sense, tbh Curse of Osiris was 100% better than this piece of shit dlc that should just be free at this point.

What a horrible expansion - what a horrible cash grab.

SO Expensive for absolutely rehashed, regurgitated content.

Bungie is the mother bird puking up garbage and trying to force it down your throat.

Ooooh how exciting, fight three bosses at once! Fight three bosses you've already fought before.... at once! Such innovation.

I get it's impossible to keep the no-lifers happy when all the want is an endless catheter of endorphins in the form of 1% better damage numbers - but man have they gone too far here, there's almost nothing redeeming about this.

It's the game design equivalent of serving up a frozen meal from the supermarket at a restaurant. It's soggy, it's reheated, it's mass produced and it's way more expensive than it should be.

I get there was a big upheaval at Bungie, moving from battle.net back to steam, but it's a poor excuse for such a shit product.

Only buy it if it is heavily discounted due to the only content not sunset/good are 2 exotics and a dungeon.
The raid while not awful, isn't remotely close to a worthwhile experience. The loot is subpar w/ 5 energy weapons all in very weak archetypes and w/ weak rolls, and the encounters are buggy and boring.
Xenophage and Divinity are the only 2 things that would be worth the ~$8. If you can stomach $4 per weapon then bite the bullet and buy it.

Bought in the sale so I could do the campaign. The moon is pretty ugly, which you can see for free, without buying this. Why the not recommended? Well, imagine purchasing a DLC, even on 1/2 price, that EVERY SINGLE thing you earm inm game, through hours of grinding is completely and utterly useless because it's power capped at 20% below the current power level in the latest DLC. That's right. You can play through the campaign, but it's literally just for the hell of it. Not one piece of gear is useable in the rest of the game. Honestly? I'm pretty disgusted they would even charge money for deliberately out of date content.

Do not buy this DLC, I played when it initially released but this DLC is where it begins to show Bungies fatigue and inability to maintain the Destiny Franchise post split with Activision. Shadowkeep being pretty lackluster as a whole but launching with enough to occupy most players. This DLC started to show how poor the drip feed content model that was introduced in Forsaken was. Unlike Forsaken the seasonal content did not stay in the game instead retiring the content as well as most gear each season which in my opinion is a huge downside to their content model. This made many players feel rushed to complete the content or they would be forced to miss out as Bungie continues this model in Beyond Light. As of now its not worth it all content from this DLC has been made irrelevant due to Beyond Light and sooner or later it will be retired like the rest of the now unobtainable gear/content. All of this so it can be reused later down the line if Bungie runs out of ideas for content. Disclaimer not purchasing this DLC will lock you out of content from the DLC that may be still in use now.

I enjoyed the content that shadowkeep provided and I'll happily support the developers BUT if you're not super invested in the game don't purchase this for full price. I'd say its well worth the $17.49 it's charging as I'm writing this though

Honestly this DLC was pretty terrible, only a couple of new missions reused location and a few exotic quests and a boring ass raid. this is not worth 25 dollars maybe 20 but thats like pushing it pretty far.....

Shadowkeep lacks substance and seems to only set up the next expansion which it does very poorly. Don't buy this. Don't even bother. The price tag is way to steep for what Shadowkeep delivers, which isn't much.

since they added f2p and shit this dlc is pretty much a few activities, a dungeon and a raid. Past DLCs have lost almost all their value and this is even more so with vaulting and sunsetting, pretty much half of forsaken's content is getting removed (year 2 pass) and pretty much all of shadowkeep's loot apart from its raid loot is useless, but that's another story. Kinda regret buying this on launch day but whatever. Get this if ya wanna raid basically

Coming to Destiny when New Light was introduced back in October '19, I bought the dlcs pretty soon after I had finished all year 1 and 2 content which was pretty good for the most part. This DLC, while the campaign and raid not as memorable as Forsaken still gave me hours and hours of stuff to sink my teeth into, which is what this game is largely about. Would recommend this for lore nerds and people interested in getting some top tier weapons.

People criticize how short the campaign is but fail to realize that most of the game isn't just campaigns. It wasn't the greatest campaign ever, and didn't really lead anywhere, but it brought a lot of good content outside of the campaign missions. The raid was fantastic, I personally thought it was as good as The Last Wish. Dungeon was fun and definitely worth doing weekly for the loot. Although don't fool yourself thinking nightmare hunts are anything new and exciting. It's just a strike in the form of a Shadowkeep campaign mission. The exotics it brought like Xenophage and Divinity were definitely game changers and are used a lot. Whether it was a good decision to bring back the moon or not is very opinion based. If you played a lot of Destiny 1 you're either gonna be tired of it very quick, or enjoy it's return. If you didn't play Destiny 1 I think you're going to enjoy it enough for the DLC to be worth it. I enjoyed it but it didn't top Forsaken, but did good enough to say it's worth the money. Although if you are planning on buying both, buy the upgrade pack that comes with both for 57$. My final thoughts on it: if you really enjoy playing Destiny, you love raiding, find the lore interesting and just like having more content to play in general, you should definitely buy this.

The dlc is terrible, honestly not even deserving of the title, the campaign is just 4 hours of public events, 1 strike (u can play it on a f2p account) and 1 mission thats semi different from the rest, it better get more content or just another dlc added to it. Compared this to the forsaken thats 10 eur cheaper, it's not even a comparison, forsaken campaign is like 5 hours long but it has normal missions and not recycled public events and im not even gonna talk about the raid and exotic difference. Shadow keep feels and probably is just a half fast thing they launched for shits and giggles.

If you play Destiny without Shadowkeep and enjoy the game and would like more content to play, Shadowkeep- or the Year 3 Upgrade Pack- is worth a purchase, especially if you have friends who play.

If you don't enjoy Destiny, don't buy the DLC.

If you haven't played Destiny yet, play through most of the free content before deciding if you want to buy this DLC.

DON'T BUY IT! IF THIS WAS A CHIPS BAG, THAN THERE IS 95% AIR IN IT!

Content:
- 1 Strike (which you can play withoit having the DLC)
- about 5 story missions
- a recylced location
- a couple recycled bosses
- a new Raid (haven't played so I have no opinion on it)
- and whole lot of nothing

I am a big fan of Destiny, i've played both Detiny 1 and 2 from day one, after Destiny 2 launched in an even worse state than D1, which must have been really hard to accomplish, I was already concernd. The first 2 DLC, which you can get for free now, were so small that you could call them a Hotfix, altough hotfixes usualy have any impact on something, sadly this is true for this DLC aswell. I have finished the DLC in 2 hours on my first playthrough including all cutscenes and at least 1 hour and 15 minutes of that time was me doing fetch quest (Partols, Events, Lost Sectors, etc.), which i frankly didn't mind that much, because I like the gunplay of D2. Though that changed when DLC ended, this is hands down THE WORST DLC FROM BUNGIE, i even liked Darkness Below from D1 and the curse of Osiris, which are both considerd garbage. It might be nostalgic googles on Darkness below, but curse of Osiris, for me at least had an interesting concept and story. NOTHING in Shadowkeep is worth it's price, the story doesn't lead anywhere, the campagne doesn't deserve the title campagne, I honestly liked the return to the moon, because I knew all the old places, but considering the size of this DLC, it is just so sassy to even RECYCLE EVERY BOSS and THE LOCATION. I also would have finished the DLC earlier if not literaly every boss has 3 to 4 invincebility phases, before you are allowed to end them, which is okay in the puplic event, because else they would get shreded by 6 guardians, but for the story it is just so annoying.

Destiny 2 was on a good way with Forsaken and after the departure of Aktivision i had high hopes, this has me f*cking conserned. The new D2 Beyond the light DLC, which drops in nov. 2020 will be the last chance for Bungie to win me over. Please don't fk it up Bungie, I loved Destiny to pices and i want to do it again.

This was a short (as all expansions for Destiny are) and repetitive experience.

Lots of recycled content from both Destiny 1 and 2. The ONLY new area to explore (in the campaign) was in the first and last mission, and really only the last.

Multi-player was great, as always.

Speaking of story, it just abruptly ended. It was really short this time around. There was more grind out enemy kills via bounties, than actual missions. Skip it, unless it's on sale and you're a big fan. However, Forsaken was soooo very much more worth the time and money.

Personally, I bought Shadowkeep due to how good Forsaken was. I may skip Beyond Light due to how meh this one was.

Skip this expansion - poorly gate main quest line with some hidden and never revealed conditions for completion will leave you frustrated else you will be spending a lot of time on the internet asking why does it say one thing and when you go do that thing you can't - ah because you have to do this totally separate thing that is never mentioned. Shame because the environment is nicely crafted (though AFAIK a fault in the game is that the game physics engine doesn't seem to take into account differing gravity fields in kinetic weapons and movement.)

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! They are literally complaining about a game MADE to be a grind simulator with PvP/PvE aka Crucible/Raiding/Gambit. The game is amazing right now and has brought my friends and I joy ever since we came back. We enjoy the grind with bounties despite them being repetitive (Every MMO IS REPETITIVE!!! This is LITERALLY not avoidable in ANY MMO.). It feels like D1 again and I love the season pass.

Please consider the DLC/XPac. Don't listen to the negative reviews. They're complaining about grinding when that's the purpose of the game - grinding.

BTW Dungeons are amazing, strikes and nightmares are amazing. The story is impressively written and I'm extremely excited to see what Beyond Light brings. Hopefully this review helped you decide on whether or not you want the DLC, the negative ones complain to damn much.

This expansion was disappointing, the story hardly moved on and the seasons were bad.

I left after the game turned into a chore, completing checklists on a daily basis is not fun. I have work checklists to complete all day, I don't enjoy spending my free time doing the same, even if the shooting is still amazing.

The dungeon addition was great and the only real worthy activity in the expansion. The beginning story mission was great, the innovation just didn't follow through the rest.

Story wise, the thrill has gone and the mystery is now just lack of content and meaningful narrative.
The darkness coming has been stretched out so far it's hard to care and I just want it to get here so we can get some meaningful answers to events so far.

After this expansion I won't be pre-ordering any more as it was a waste of money. I don't think I hit 10 on the season pass past season 1 due to the reasons above. My faith in Bungie to provide an amazing sci-fi story has gone and after paying full price for all content so far, I think it's bad customer practice not to give a discount at least to people who have supported the game so far.

As a D1 veteran and played this game for 800+ hours back on battle.net, i have to say that this game is not what it was before, and its certainly not what is can be.

After playing this game since vanilla, i can say i have alot of experience in this game so i must say that this game is not worth the 35+ euros and gameplay wise its very lack luster, so i can only recommend this game if you are a souless person that has nothing else to and just whats to do 1 thing like 50 times for 1 gun, go ahead this game is for you.

I am a bit iffy on Shadowkeep because I do not think it is worth its current price of $35. If it's on sale for less, I do wholeheartedly recommend it. It's a very excellent expansion with a lot of really good content. The seasons system introduced with it is not a great thing, but Bungie have already said that they're fixing all of the issues I have with it, so, no complaints here. Having a free season pass is.. nice I guess? But I don't like the concept of it. In any case, as for the expansion itself: It is good. It is worth $20. The campaign is about as long as The Red War, though it extends far longer than it, what with the re-playable story missions and such.

Let me just preface this by saying real quick that:

This is mostly through the lens of a longtime player (no I'm not going to pull the 'As a D1 Alpha player' card because that's stupid and holds little to no weight in this.) If you're a new player, that's great! Enjoy the game, this is just my take on stuff and you can ignore it if you want.)

This is probably going to be messy too, as I didn't really plan on making a hugely formal review, but here goes nothing.

By itself, Shadowkeep was already a mediocre Fall expansion back to back with others like TTK and Forsaken (and hell, even RoI). Destiny has had this weird cycle of absolutely atrocious spring/summer seasons with alright winter time periods, and fantastic Fall expansions. As much as I had my fun in Shadowkeep, it didn't keep me in as long as other expansions, and I had a little bit more hope in the Season Pass being able to help with previous content droughts to keep everything fresh and fun. That was all I really hoped for, but the seasonal 'content' following suit has truly been one of the worst, mind-numbing half-baked periods of time to be playing the game as a long-time player:

-Drip-fed activities to compensate for the lack of content (that, along with their rewards, completely disappear after the end of the season with no deadline as to when said rewards will come back!) that have been Menagerie clones (Sundial, arguably the best one still), boring capture point runthroughs (Vex Offensive), or a public event. Yeah, a public event surely counts as content for the rest of the season!

-Speaking of lack of content, how about them bounties? That's right, who doesn't enjoy picking up bounties every single day for a monotonous power-grind with no end that goes away after a season, to rank up a half-baked battle pass (which has literally zero rewards for free players past rank 35, and no valuable rewards for paying players. The game has literally been a pure bounty fest since Shadowkeep's launch, and the Guardian Games event is just the culmination of months-worth of bounty-happy effort to show us just that. Do bounties to complete medals (bounties!) to finish up your weekly bounties! Have fun!.

-Absolutely no PvE endgame (the last raid was almost seven months ago, and no, running Master nightfalls for hours and hours on end is not engaging or comparable in any way whatsoever). Running Garden of Salvation for 7 months is stale and not fun anymore. Raid rotations from Rise of Iron are gone (can't have any good QoL from our previous game, can we?) Legendary lost sectors are pathetic excuses for repeatable content that keep shoehorning the godawful Champion system, and while Obelisks were interesting on their own, Seraph Bunkers are just downright worse versions of Obelisks with none of the quality rewards last season had.

-An enormous decline in QA with an insane spike in server-errors the likes never seen before (Hope you like visits to the zoo, because you'll be seeing a lot of animals booting you back to the menu screen this season! Even worse for console players that have had to deal with Watercress/Newt errors LOCKING THEM OUT OF THE GAME.)

-Trials of Osiris being taken out for -years- to release even WORSE than how it ended off by the end of Destiny 1 Year 3 (and in some ways, worse than Trials of the Nine!) No Adept weapons at launch, borderline zero incentive to go flawless except for an Ascendant shard (which you can already get from Nightfalls easier!), terrible glows instead of ornaments like D1Y3/D2Y1 (that go away after two weeks!), token farming low matches ensuring new players never come back to the playlist, rampant cheaters, and more. Playlist's already on it's way to being DoA for a lot of people, and some of the changes (Adepts specifically) are taking 5 months to ship, so don't put your hopes up on bringing some of those people back either.

-Planned obsolence/sunsetting of weapons as a lazy excuse for balancing (despite 'power creep' of old content not even being a valid argument when obsolete content will always be powercrept by the way of being, well, old content), making sure even /less/ people run old activities for loot and consequently killing off more playlists already for...balancing? We've already had this happen before, where all our weapons were invalidated in D1Y2 and they were subsequently drip-fed back to us to re-grind again (laughable), or worse, just replaced with flat-out inferior alternatives because Bungie's philosophy of balancing something is murdering every single item in its category, whether its an actual outlier or not.
(An example: Erentil-FR4 (hi-impact fusion) with Backup Plan being unbalanced. Reasonable solution: nerf Backup Plan on High-Impact fusions. Bungie solution: nerf backup plan on ALL fusions, even though High Impacts are the only ones that see any sort of use.
OR: Blanket nerf range for ALL hand-cannons instead of balancing individual frames, ensuring that where 140s and even 110s had a chance before, now that range is normalized, 150s are the only usable handcannons for high-end PvP since the other frames put you at a huge disadvantage in TTK / stats.)

-Storylines that drag on for far too long, make no sense in any meaningful way (...what's the point of the Almighty crashing to Earth when there's no threat, and the focus already shifted to the pyramids once again mid-season with no explanation?) and have been disjointed for too long with no connection whatsoever. Sucks too, because lorebooks/lore entries have consistently been of extremely high quality too, but the actual game storylines are just...eeeeh.

-The absolutely oppressive cash-shop scheme behind Eververse taking away activity rewards from activities that already need extra rewards to make them enjoyable (Trials ornaments, Garden of Salvation Vex cosmetics, Shadowkeep's new Nightfalls (THAT DON'T EVEN HAVE AN EMBLEM / ANY STRIKE GEAR BEHIND THEM, BY THE WAY) ) all so we get...a reskinned Eververse armor set as our Raid armor and a ship / sparrow at the near completion of our season pass. The Bright Dust economy being shafted so hard from Opulence to blatantly force you to pay up for a cosmetic that's always on store (whereas brightdust items disappear after a week and might not come back for the rest of the season), the fact Eververse gets a whopping ~80 new items per season while this season had barely anything in comparison. Not even bringing up the outrageous silver prices because I don't spend money on the cash shop, but the fact that the game's monetization scheme was somehow better when Activision (yes, Activision!) was at the reins tells a lot. Maybe that's why it ended up going F2P, I don't know.

And finally:
-The fact that this game just doesn't have a clear direction on what to be, and the constantly ignored feedback is starting to take a toll on trust on Bungie (if people had any in the first place.) Blatantly obvious problems that were STILL not recognized until the community borderline joined together in screaming against it (Artifact LL in Trials), other similar problems that went unrecognized for too long, and with their solutions taking far too long too (Adepts in Trials being on a 6 month deadline, cheater bans in PvP taking too long), and other times just completely ignoring divisive topics such as sunsetting, no incentive to do activities and dodging the Eververse question for far too long (until recently). You can't really ascribe to malice what may very well be just incompetence, but for a studio like Bungie, being already incompetent enough about this is bad in the first place, and I can't tell which is which.

I've played this game for a long enough time to have a gripe with the problems and missed potential, but aside from helping friends every once in a while, I think I'm just done for now in general. I love the gameplay, PvP and PvE, but its just too much for at this point.

Long time 6 year Destiny vet here.

Shadowkeep is the worst September expansion to date, not really that bad, but is ABSOLUTELY not worth at full price. Year 6 for this franchise has been an utter travesty so far. Things will get better, but I expected a lot more from an expansion of this price and timing. Hopefully Bungie gets back on top of things, listens to feedback and gets this game back out of the gutter.

Whelp... I thought supporting a post-Activision Bungie would be a good idea.

It wasn't.

They are clearly out of Ideas, their season are completely void of meaningdul content. Completely lacking in quantity and quality.

They just copy and paste stuff from their last game, and someone manage to make it worse. They took away everything from Destiny 1, and have been reselling it to this community for years.

I'm out.

Destiny is a game that highlights the best and worst of modern gaming.

To give some context, I've been playing this franchise since 2014, and I can't bring myself to ever leave it alone, but I'm no blind follower to the glaring issues this game provides.

The good:
The overall gun play is fun. Shooting aliens in the face is always satisfying even after all these years.
The game is beautiful. Set pieces like the Black Garden, Nessus, and the Dreaming City always make me stop, look around, and admire the care it took to make these fictional areas look and feel dynamic.
Co-op is the best thing about this game. Raids, Nightfalls, secret missions, whatever is in this game, it is better played with a buddy or a full fireteam.

The Mediocre:
The gameplay loop. This is a looter shooter, so it rewards grinding towards a max level and farming for a god roll weapon. I like this, but it's not for everyone.
Microtransactions. I play this game enough, so I'm able to earn everything for free, but I know people will have issue with paid cosmetics.

The Bad:
Destiny's story is quite possibly the most intruiging story every thought of, but it was expressed in a really poor and shitty manner. If you are looking for a consistent story that is easy to understand, do not pick this game up.
PvP is in an awful spot right now with hackers and a half-baked competitive mode with no real rewards.
Bugs and Lag: Oh boy, there is shit form day 1 that are still in the game. Some exotic quests are busted and some mechanics in endgame content is inconsistent. And don't get me started on the lag. I don't have the best internet, but when it comes to this game, it puts up the white flag.

This is one of my favorite games, so I'm baised to say that I enjoy it. but it is not for everyone. Personally, I would wait until next season to make a purchase.

On Season 3, but I've sorta lost the feel to do their seasonal temporary thing that will disappear in 3 months, y'all get that right, they have time-limited events every season (not just the season pass). These time-limited events have time-limited loot (it's a looter shooter), title/s, STORY, and game modes, yup, actual game features are removed every season to be replaced by something else, so everything is temporary, once it passes, it's gone, no one, not even you, can experience it again (unless you watch a youtube vid or something about it...).

At the start it was great, I would be recommending this, but now, it just gets... tiring? It's like I don't even want to click the play button unless I got friends inviting me to play...

I like Destiny 2 itself and absolutely loved Forsaken (year 2). But Shadowkeep (year 3) managed to reverse all my feelings towards this game. There's things that i loved about new developing model, but here im going to describe only things that i don't like.

Since the very beginning of Shadowkeep, which is Season 8, dev team claimed that they are letting us to play the way we want. This is brute lie and let me bring a couple of examples why:
-Each season focuses around a few weapon classes and forces you to use them while doing certain activities.
-Most of content now is seasonal, that means if you missed quests and weapons to obtain during the current season, you won't get them after.

Previously, game awarded player for ranking up & doing activities with cosmetic loot. But now, since game is F2P model, most of thematic cosmetics are tied to microtransactions. Feeling less rewarding prevents me to do things with enthusiasm i've used to do.

Since Season 9, the grind (which takes 70% of activities) became a chore and repetitive. Devs' vision on MMO basically is endlessly filling up bars from 0 to 100%. Also by doing same activities over and over again with almost no diversity - play same missions but using limited weapons. Most of the times, the reward is too disappointing making you trash it and never using it or balance breaking, which will result in a nerf probably 6 months after.

Personally, i was so washed up by doing same tasks, that i expected the next season to bring a fresh breath, yet got disappointed hard. The current season grinding tasks are literally reskin of the ones players had to do the last season, but with tougher enemies and time-gated steps.

One of the core activity is PvP (which is focused the current season) has questionable balance. It has been going since the very beginning. Devs showed that they don't know anything about the PvP. To avoid making hard calculations (or reading community feedback) they're catching with current meta and just nerfing it. That results in an average player entering PvP modes will just get mowed down by tons of players using literally same loadouts of weapons and perks. No place for creativity in PvP.

Overall quality has gone dramatically down. This year we got: constant server crashes, players' inventory wipes, tons of bugs and glitches, poorly tested exotic items which are just getting disabled until further rebalance.
Most of new mechanics are half baked, which tells about lack of game testers in devs' team. Im not going to go in details here, just giving an example:
There's a tough enemy NPC which can be stunned by a weapon with special seasoned mod. This year offered mods for swords. But the thing is, the NPC is constantly teleporting & shooting at the player, making it really challenging to approach him. At what point was this tested?

In the end, i'd recommend you to stay away from Shadowkeep. Devs are ignoring huge amount of feedback and constantly lying to community. There's barely any genuine content that haven't been recycled from old seasons or even Destiny 1.

Shadowkeep's annual pass isn't even half as good and filled with content as the one that came with Forsaken. Definitely thumbs down from me.

I've noticed, that quite a lot of people rated my review, so here is an expanded version of my thoughts about year 3:

1) Lack of PvE content
Each season in Year 3 features one time limited repetitive game mode, which lacks replayablilty due to non existent sandbox, simplicity of it's mechanics and useless rewards. Not a single raid has been introduced during the last 3 seasons as a part of a season pass model.

2) Lack of PvP content
Competitive game mode is rendered useless by Year 3. Ritual weapon for reaching 5500 hasn't been changed since Forsaken expansion and weapons for reaching 2100 aren't featured in the Season of the Worthy as well, meaning there is no reason to play this game mode what so ever. Trials of Osiris are a big event returning to this game, but lack of exclusive flawless rewards which were always a part of Trials back in Destiny 1 is dissappointing. The game mode is still fun, but it barely has any differences to the one we had in Destiny 1, what makes me wonder what took it so long to bring it back.

3) Cosmetics
Visual designs has always been a strong side of Destiny franchise, but with every season i follow a gradual degradation of it's quality. The armor sets in Season of the Worthy reached the point, when not a single legendary titan class armor piece is even worth looking into, especially the one you can by for real money from Eververse store. Do i even need to point at what Destiny 1 had to offer?

TL;DR: I recommend at least checking out Destiny 2 because it has some of the best gunplay ever, environments are extremely well-done, and it has many different kinds of content.

You'll like this game if:
* You were a fan of the Halo series.
* You like space fantasy.
* You like well-done FPS (good-feeling gunplay, etc.).
* You're a completionist (hundreds of Triumphs to complete, thousands of items to acquire).
* You like different kinds of content (matchmaking missions, group missions, solo missions, group raids, world events, random quests, tons of PvP options including competitive PvP, etc.).
* You like well-done environments (some of the best visual and audio environments of any game, ever, certainly for FPS games).
* You like really cool random story or environment moments (finding random portals, puzzles inside of hidden missions, etc.).

You won't like this game if:
* You want a super-solid story (portions of the story are great, but it's not cohesive).
* You don't like FOMO/Fear of Missing Out (seasonal content goes away at end of season, a very small amount of story/lore is inaccessible).
* You don't like weapons or abilities changing every season (I think Destiny's in a great middle ground right now where weapons aren't unusable or too powerful, and even weapons like sidearms and swords have been buffed and are in a great place; however, to get there, they've done a ton of buffs/nerfs season-to-season).
* You don't like change in general (Bungie is thinking about making older weapons obsolete so they can focus on newer weapons but haven't made that change definitive yet, they change the UI occasionally, etc.).

I wanted to give Bungo the benefit of doubt and check out this expansion, but it's such a ripoff and it ends on a cliffhanger. They haven't done jack shit about the Shadowkeep campaign/story and it's clear their Battle Pass system gets more attention.

Recycled low-effort content. Most of the new content is only available through the in game store. To top it off, if you find yourself enjoying the drips and drabs of content released during the season, you better play it during the season because afterwards it is gone forever.

New Light players should stick to Forsaken, you get far more content for your money and you can play that content on your schedule.

If you're looking for an fps game, don't because the pvp balancing is shit; if you're a fan of looters, don't because your loot will get nerfed and become trash; if you're into RPGs, don't because the game has so little content. And if the game does improve, please do not have your hopes up, as it will get bad again. Anyways, please don't make the mistake which I've made.

- A player who has waited 5 years for the game to improve
- TL;DR: bad pvp, little content, poor balancing, no improvements
- Warframe, Rainbow six seige, final fantasy 14, Borderlands 3 are all excellent replacements
- DON'T BUY THIS GAME

By giving each season a time limit it seems like they want to scare people into playing rather than add anything meaningful to the game. They add fun activities, only for them to become unavailable when the season ends. Adding time limits on paid content is not the way to go.
