In 6 Stunden Spielzeit ca. 1 Stunde effektiv gespielt.

The game take to long to load and the fight system is horrible. I don't like the system where one have to press non stop left click to fight. They should have make that more comfortable. Also is there no spint option to run faster. The movement speed is too slow in my opinion. I also not like that Origin is required to launch the game, and one are forced to install it, even though one just want start it directly. It also seems to be very heavy on the CPU, since my computer make very lound sounds when run the game. One can even not run the game in offline mode, since its connected to Origin, and the Origin launcher require Internet connection. The game price is also way too high.

Will ja nicht alles verraten :)

i can not put into words that how much i hate this ea app. game is good but the barely working bloatware called ea app ruins every aspect of it.

why do i have to sign in to my accound everyday?
why do i have to be online despite steam allowing it?
why aren't the achivements working?

i will answer it myself: because ea is shitass company that doesnt care about user experience and forces me to use its unuseable trash of a launcher.

One of my favourite games with a beautiful story and great characters. The graphics are good game-play is really fun. The modding in this game can be a little confusing as there is two types DAI and frosty mods, but there is plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to get them to work together. Be wary of mods that you use as I did have a bit of trouble when it came to traveling to Skyhold, the screen would go completely white and you are unable to move or do anything. If you encounter this issue, disable your mods (both DAI and Frosty if you are running both) and the cutscene should work and you should be able to travel with no issues. Just re-enable mods after you arrive there. This game does require Orgin to run as well in order to play it, just an FYI. But overall I would recommend this game, its worth the money but you can usually find it on sale a couple times a year.

Despite the game itself being a brilliant and engaging roll-playing game, I cannot recommend this version of the game.
The fact that the Steam version uses EA's Origin launcher makes the experience of playing this game a downright chore, from little things like; the game not tracking Steam achievements, or the game randomly crashing. To the biggest one (and the one that made me give up on playing this game entirely) is the numerous amount of times you'll find yourself pressing 'Play Game' on Steam, only for Origin to show up for a second, then... nothing. The game won't boot, no process with launch and absolutely nothing will happen. I've reinstalled the game three times, and still had the same problem.

Where as Dragon Age 2 felt like a side game, Dragon Age Inquisition feels like a true sequel and perfection of the Origins formula. Interesting squad mates that you end up caring deeply for, a compelling story, and a furthering of everything your previous Dragon Age characters have worked for

It feels a bit unfair to not reccomand this game after playing 100+ hours, but a big chunk of my time was spent on tedious MMO-like fetch quests.

It's a shame because the combat system introduces some nice original ideas with its barriers and armors. A huge issue thouth is how limited you are in the number of skills you can equip at one time. Also the tactical camera is atrocious and the game is unplayable with a keyboard and mouse. But the worst part of the gameplay is definitely the War Table ! What is this ? A 4x strategy game ?

My biggest gripe with this game however is the story and the lore. A lot of it feels like a middle finger to fans of the previous entries. Both the Blight and the Grey Wardens are made a mockery off and every bit of lore built in Dragon Age Origins is simply thrown out the window. The world is supposedly in danger, but your forces are always one step ahead of the enemy and you feel absolutely no sense of urgency. The only redeemable parts were the attack on the Inquisition's original base and the last DLC.

I have played this game across all available platforms and every year or so I just keep coming back to it. There's something about the extensive lore, flexible gameplay and hours of exploring that just keeps pulling me back. No regrets buying this over and over and if you're a DA fan, this is definitely worth a try, I have the highest of expectations for the next one I hope it doesn't disappoint,

Let me just say, this game is awesome. The way Dragon Age 1, Dragon Age 2, and this game all come together and weave my story choices into meaningful, permanent, and profound gameworld experiences is perhaps the coolest thing I've seen to date in online gaming.

While I highly recommend this game--I think it's very important to play through the other 2 titles first. Take your time. Experience the story. I think this game has something like 40!!! possible endings depending on choices and events in the previous 2 titles and how they affect the things you choose in this one.

I can't wait for Dragon Age 4 next year.

I want to like it, it definitely has potential and looks gorgeous, but it's just so slow and boring. Seven hours in and I couldn't care less about anything going on in this game. Quests are boring, enemies are boring, story is boring, abilities are boring... it's all just really boring.

Honestly, I've only gotten this far because I loved the first two so much and want to know what happens. It's fun enough if you don't care about the story. I don't like the direction the writers too with this. Oh well.

I have way more hours of this game on the playstation, but I had to buy it again so I could try out mods. I genuinely LOVE this game. It takes literally EVERYTHING I've ever wanted in an MMORPG. Fully voiced main character, Check. Customization options for said main character, check. The oppertunity to build a personality for that character, check. Different dialogue options based on your class because of the internal politics and history? triple check. It's everything you could ever want in a game where YOU can make any character you want and bring a life to them that no other game has been able to do.

Oh and uh, The series and specifically this one has become a comfort game, where when the world seems to bring you down, Inquisition is there to pick me back up and make me happy again.

So yes, I would highly recommend

Thumbs up because I like the game as much as I ever did. The biggest issue with the Steam version is that it forces you to connect to Origin to launch the game. If you've never used Origin, imagine if Steam didn't work and it hated you.

Honestly I Tried to play this game 4 or 5 years ago and just couldn't get into it even though playing dragon age 1 & 2 (Xbox). I'm so sad I didn't have the patience to find out what this game was about. I picked this game up on sale as it was a great bargain. I decided to research if anyone else had the same problem I experienced from days of old, low and behold a whole Sub Reddit with people complaining about slow or confusing game-play after the first hour ( I thought the same ). After reviewing these forums pertaining to DAI early game I realized the consensus was 8 hours of game play or getting to Skyhold is when you can decide if you like it our not and LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS TRUE. I found myself at about 7 hours and started to realize what the game was and its potential, then Skyhold, an hour later I was hooked. Please give this game a chance it has so many detailed features and if you haven't played it in an age where its hard to come across a game that is actually developed properly this is your ticket. LOOKING AT YOU RPG FANS. I highly recommend this game to any Dragon Age fan or RPG fan. Give it until you get to Skyhold to decide what you think, it is a slow paced game at first but it goes from 0 - 100 after 8 hours.

They put the game up for sale on Steam without even bothering to fix the most simple game-breaking bugs that have been there since day one. You have to install Origins. Game can be a bunch of fun if you get it to work.

I bought this game at the very start of 2021 after I saw a friend stream it. I never played an game like this before and was honestly pretty worried that I wouldn't like it like. 350 hours in, 3 fully done play through and almost a year later I got say this is my favorite game of all time now.
I love all the characters we can befriend and build friendships with them. I love all npcs we can get close to. Some of them I didn't really understand their character my first play through but after the second I grew fond to them after actually giving them more time and attention. Sometimes you can't get around to be friending everyone in on playthrough so it's night to go back and try to learn more about the ones you missed before. Also the banter between party members are great. Heck even the banter between the npcs you pass down the street are super interesting to listen in on.

I love how open the world is and how almost every corner that would seemed to be empty has something there. Normally some loot but sometimes a fun little lore bit!
Fighting is pretty good for the most part. Fighting the dragons are the best part :3

My only complaint is there isn't more! haha. But seriously if you have any issues with the game or need help check out youtube or the wiki. it helped me a lot when stuck on what to do or where to go.

I really can't get into this game as hard as I try... It feels soulless and they tried to go for to much at once. The game borderlines on collect-a-thon and entirely fetch quest based tasks, The controls are absolutely horrible unless using a controller, The fighting is stiff and hollow and all of it breaks down to holding down a button and not doing much beyond that unless you want to use the useless tactics feature that didn't work half the time, and of course last but not least the only difference in how characters react for the most part is a blip on the side saying whether they approve or disapprove. It didn't feel like I actually made any substantial difference in conversations or choice. 2014 Tumblr hyped this shit up but its really just an over glorified dating sim. Also it forces you to use ea's lite launcher... so fuck that.

Inquisition has been one of my favourite games to play in recent years.

Positives:
- Combat feels varied region to region
-Enemies feel fun and interesting to fight while still remaining varied and unique.
- The crafting system is easy to use
- The story feels fresh and easy to follow
- Companions are amazingly written and the dialog between them during exploration manages to expand the world while giving the player a look into the personalities of the companions.
- The quests are well written and most of the side quests are interesting and don't feel like they detract from gameplay

Negatives:
-the requistion quests can become tedious and repetitive
- some world areas can feel a little empty and not completely fleshed out.

Not really a bad game, but painfully mediocre, especially when compared to Dragon Age: Origins.

The main story is bland, writing is slightly above average at best, GoT season 8 tier at worst, gameplay is boring, quests are unimaginative.
If the main quest wasn't level gated, could play through it in 10-12 hours.
Frostbite engline doesn't work properly in this game - a lot of janky animations and bugs. (To be fair, though, Frostbite was made for FPS games and not massive RPGs, so it isn't really BioWare's fault, they did their best)

My advise to anyone who wants to get into Dragon Age series - just stop playing them after Origins. Sadly, it doesn't get better than that.

A Fantastic RPG from Bioware. this game has absolutely fantastic combat and visuals, a beautiful series of environments and maps, very smooth flowing combat, and great story progression for what is happening and how your character just happens to be involved by chance. The game is a Lot of fun, especially if you have been playing since Dragon Age Origins, and the score is beautiful too. A great game for an RPG fan.

If you like open world RPG's, this is the game for you. This genre of game has been a longtime favorite of mine. The Dragon Age series has been a longstanding gem within that genre, but this one takes the cake. You get a massive open world with endless side quests along with the main quest, and a lot to do far after the game is over. It is also a butterfly effect game, and every decision you make counts in the long run of the game as far as how your companions, alliances, and politics will pan out. Every decision matters. The game makes you aware that you matter. It is extremely easy to fall in love with both the lore, your companions, your own character that has decent customization, and the beautiful graphics itself. 10/10 for players who enjoy open world, RPG, or butterfly effect games. Love all three? This is the diamond in the rough, and has become my all time favorite video game, specifically amongst the series too. I only just got this game on Steam which will not reflect the hundreds of hours I have put into my PS4. Unlike Skyrim, I never get tired of restarting with how expansive and customizable this entire game is.

If you love Bioware RPGs, this one is a must-have. Definitely the best in the Dragon Age series.

Storytelling - 10/10
Interface - 9/10
Artistic design & execution - 8/10
Combat mechanics - 7/10
Skill Diversity - 4/10
Tradeskilling - 5/10
Overall Challenge - 6/10

As with all Bioware games, it crushes in storytelling and playability and looks pretty, too, Memorable characters, good progression, However, (as with all Bioware games) its biggest downfall is the lack of class and skill tree diversity which ultimately boils down to more simplistic combat mechanics and tradeskilling. Still, it's a great & memorable game with great playability

I cannot recommend this game enough. I enjoyed just about every part of this game. Some of the highlights for me are:
- The character customization. There are four races to choose from, all of which will affect the story you play. You can customize their faces to an incredible degree.
- The play style. Previous Dragon Age Games were somewhat turn based, this one is not. This means you can effectively, and easily, combo moves. You can do this with just your own character, or your companions as well. You can also change how companions interact with potions, and how they attack.
- The story. It builds on previous Dragon Age games, but I started with this one, then worked my way backwards. You may be a little confused if this is your intro game, but you will understand the jist of things fairly quickly. The story is incredible, including companion quests.
- The graphics. This game is stunning. It is easily one of the, if not the most beautiful game I have ever played. With every game, there are quirks, but it isn't enough to bother you.
TL;DR: Wonderful game, I recommend the entire franchise.

Okay, so - if you haven't played Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age 2, STOP, TURN AROUND, go play both of those first. This game is much, much better if you do. This is not one of those 'I didn't play the first two and it was fine!' games.

On that note, this is probably the worst of the Dragon Age games, though it is the largest and most ambitious. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a Dark Souls 2 situation where they lost the magic, but it does feel a little off. The story is the obvious highlight and is crammed full of fascinating and polarizing characters - Solas in particular is one of the finest characters I've ever encountered, whether you love or hate him. The gameplay is impactful and often surprising, and the combat is fairly fun, especially the archery and controlling the tank of the party.

Where the game stumbles a bit is in the MMO-style side quests and in the balance. I don't want to collect ten bits of meat from randomly spawning rams in my story-driven single player game. I don't want to do a hundred fetch quests, or fetch all the hidden shards in the landscape. It really did feel open world for the sake of being open world, and the game suffers for it. As for the balance, crafting gear is laughably overpowered compared to everything but the very, VERY end-game items in DLC, and that certainly sucked a lot of the fun out of looting.

Having said quite a few nasty things about this game, I feel it's important to acknowledge that I've played it three times, and each run has pushed 70 hours. I am nitpicking because constant exposure has revealed these flaws, not because these flaws are game-destroying. This game is VAST, is clearly a labour of love, and is hard to not fall in love with for its sincerity and exceptional world building. Would recommend.

Played this back when I was younger, came back to it...dissapointed.
For starters, if you're a fan of Origins, don't get this. Storys good, game looks good, and clever writing, my main issue is this game feels more like an MMO, ubsurd material costs, tanky enemies, etc etc.
But my biggest gripe is the combat...dear lord the combat...

So the combat is janky, and the movement system is just wierd, it feels like it was made for controller, but after switching from keyboard to that, it wasn't any better. And the combats reduced to SPAM EVERYTHING AND LEFT CLICK!

But yeah, that's my only real gripes.

I don't normally leave reviews for games because each game has its vices and enjoyments, but god damn IF I EVER HAD A DAMN GAME ASSOCIATED WITH ORIGIN I ALREADY KNOW ITS SET TO FAIL.

1.) I bought this game on steam because I already have it on origin and origin is SO BAD that I rebought this game to play through a launcher that actually works.
2.) This game FORCES you to install ORIGIN to play the game. I have two copies of this game on ORIGIN now. ORIGIN literally virus'd its way into the game to ruin the experience. It doesnt even run after a few playthroughs. Steam says look to origin to fix, origin says screw you the game isnt installed (protip: it is).
3.) I found out you can run the game through the executable by right clicking it in your steam library and going to browse local files. It worked a few times... now ORIGIN ruined that too and I cannot get the game to run. my play time reflects how many hours I lost because of ORIGIN.

If you are a Bioware dev reading this, I hope your company has learned that origin is a trap and now that your company (and game titles) have the origin stink. You've lost 10000s if not 100000s of sales because Origin is in itself, a virus. I will never use software from Origin. I tried it once for APEX, tried it twice for Dragon Age II, and my strikeout was with this game.

tl;dr: Imagine being a big money company like EA and somehow having incompetent developers who not only made some virus that tries to run games like a launcher, but also kill any games they sank money into by not just submitting to GABEN. Origin is trash, this game REQUIRES Origin to run, so this game is trash. Into the bin it goes.

While DA Inquisition is an amazing game (have many, many more hours logged on the Origin version), I've found several issues with the Steam 'port', in the sense that it doesn't always launch as intended, nor does the Steam overlay work, and despite contacting EA several times with hopes of seeing a suitable fix, after the guides failed to fix, they've come up useless. Regardless, the world of Thedas continues to be immersive and deeply rich with its lore and cast of characters.

6/10 - One of my favourite franchises, a beautiful and immersive game. However, only a six due to it not wanting to work as the Steam/ Origin linking doesn't appear to work, nor do EA appear to care to fix it anytime soon. Buy it on Origin or elsewhere.

TL;DR, DA:I is an excellent game that you should NOT, under any circumstances, buy on Steam. Don't even buy it on Origin. Buy it from another third-party retailer like Humble Bundle. Read further for explanation.

I put many hours into Inquisition on PS4 and had a great time--it's one of my favorite Bioware games. I purchased it on Steam, and requested a refund after 45 minutes of trying and failing to get the game to start. I thought it was finally working, and managed to play for about 20 minutes before it crashed, and after another few minutes of troubleshooting, I requested a refund.

Steam and Origin do not work together. The game only got to the main menu twice. Every other time, it crashed on startup. I don't think this is Steam's fault, so much as it is Electronic Arts desperately trying to make people use their terrible software. The Ubisoft games I have (that also require the Ubisoft launcher) work without issue.

Regardless, I can't recommend you purchase this game on Steam for the foreseeable future. I can't speak to other EA games on Steam, but if they also require Origins to be able to launch (if they can launch), I have very low expectations. I will not be purchasing any more EA Games on Steam. The few that I still have are old enough I don't think they would require Origins to launch

Do NOT buy this game on Steam. The only way I can recommend purchasing this game on PC is, ideally, by purchasing it on a store like the Humble Bundle store. Rather than going to Origins directly and giving EA the majority of the profit, buying it through Humble Bundle gives their company the majority of the profit, and even sends some of that to charity.

Dragon Age Checklist Simulator, seriously 90% of the Game is just boring ass Side quests with no substance literally check list simulator. The Main story and Companion Quests are all really really good though too bad its muddled in between the most boring core gameplay loop. I can see a sliver of old Bioware in there still, hopefully DA4 and the upcoming Mass Effect can bring them back to form, one can only hope.

-edit Trespasser DLC pretty good much more satisfying ending closes loose ends and sets up DA4 really well, please don't mess this up Bioware

I purchased this during a steam sale. The origin and steam double connect has royally fucked this game. I attempted to try every fix online. This caused my time to go as high 3 hours even though I wasn't even in the game at all but origin was open. Steam counted this as me being in game and unable to refund. Purchasing Inquisition from steam is the worst mistake you'll make. Do not get this here or any EA game from steam. The amount of time it says I have played to date on steam shows 6 hours. On Origin it says less than an hour played. Fuck this bullshit.

While Origins was made tons better by mods and Dragon Age II required none, DA: I, to me, would be unplayable without. BioWare has somewhat used MMORPG design patterns in Inquisition with huge (incredibly scenic) maps, resource gathering, and 'kill 10 mobs' quests retrieved from notes stuck to tree trunks. MMOs are supposed to be infinite and the feeling of the game sucking many more hours out of your life than it has to sets in right quick. I initially almost chucked the game killing wolves in the Hinterlands as a level 4 or something.

To start installing mods you need Frosty's Mod Manager: https://github.com/GalaxyEham/FrostyToolSuite/releases

Some can be added directly as zips, others need to be extracted first.

The must-haves:

Bugs Be Gone:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/1992 - does what it says on the tin.

Search Radius Increased:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/1442 - DA: I is mostly a 'sonar simulator' game. You run around the map tapping V, which prompts kind of a 'cast of the search spell', revealing very nearby items which you have line-of-sight of. This mod makes the scan radius a lot bigger (you can choose how much), makes the items remain highlighted longer, and removes the LoS requirement so you can easily find very interesting lore items hidden in the bushes during your first playthrough.

Speed Launch:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2051 - skip the intros. Your game will crash many, many times during the 100+ hours you'll be putting into it. I couldn't get it to not crash in the Frostback Basin region no matter the settings I twiddled around with. Unchecking ambient occlusion, then using the 'low' preset helped only somewhat. Relaunching isn't as annoying with this mod.

Quicker Looting:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/788 - aside from the aforementioned 'sonar' thing, Inquisition would have you sit through over a dozen hours of looting animation without this mod. It's a lengthy game as-is and you'd want to optimize as much as possible.

Faster Movement Speed:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/1461 - again, the maps are huge and you have to traverse some multiple times after unlocking ruins, rebuilding bridges, etc. I bound the X key to 'unsheathe weapon', which triggers the 200% faster running. Very effective.

War Table - No Waiting:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/479 - there's this kind of minigame where you have to wait sometimes long swathes of time to get back the outcome of operations you plan on the map. Another MMO gimmick - it's easy to imagine being able to speed up the process with microtransactions. I don't want to say it has no place in single player - it is logical - just gets tiresome after a while. You'll be looking for ways to waste in-game time to get the notification to trigger.

Didn't use, but interesting:

Skip Fights:
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2652 - a cheat item that kills all the mobs around. I enjoyed bombarding enemies with destructive spells (especially using cheats from WeMod), but I imagine endlessly respawning trash mobs are not everyone's cuppa.

Theorycrafting pays in DA: I. I discovered the Fire Mine build for the mage more than halfway through the game. It's strong. This blog has lots of information on how to min-max the game: https://brightrockmedia.com/tag/dragon-age-inquisition/

As always, mage gets more content and is more interesting.

I managed to miss recruiting Sky Watcher, Hessarian mercenaries, and one more side thing I forgot. You don't strictly have to use the wiki to get a pretty complete playthrough, but with it, I missed only three things aside from alternative (~evil) routes: https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Quests_(Inquisition)

It's interesting to note Inquisition, being a game released end of 2014 features multiple gay companions and even a trans hanging around camp. All the internet raging around the topic has only really started annoying me in the last maybe 2-3 years. I guess they 'did it before it was cool'. The characters fit in nicely, nothing bad to say about it.

All-in-all it's a great game. Get it for $10 during a sale or $50 right now, it'll be money well spent both by dollars or emotions per hour.

Great work! completed 95% of the quests in the game.

Pros
- Multiple huge beautiful locations to explore
- Good story
- Great gameplay
- Some of your actions in DA: origins and DA:2 reflected in the game (I give like every time they mention my Hero of Ferelden lol)
- Always include Sera in party for the banter.

Cons
- Some of the quests are like from an online rpg (too many fetch quests)
- The War table. why the fck I need to wait 3 hours for a mission to complete
- to be fully satisfied with the story you need to buy the Trespasser DLC. Which is the continuation after the main campaign. (Best played with complete DLCs as the real ending is there. :-D)

tips:
Subscribe to EA Play so you can play the 3 DA games. then unsubscribe once you're done lol

Played game for a couple of hours when I purchased it and it seemed OK (not great). I went to play it again a couple of weeks later and behold it wouldn't load. Checked all the things that the forums suggested to no avail. I've spent more time trying to fix it than play it and have now given up.
It did start to load from Steam when I reinstalled it but as soon as Origin loaded it packed in.
Rubbish
Update May 2021...,
Occasionally I try to load it to see if it'll work, nah. It's the only game I've purchased on Steam that won't work. Don't think I'll get any other game from EA again.

Dragon Age Inquisition is a really long game. It starts slowly and many gameplay mechanics only show up after owning your base. There are tons of quests, many interesting ones, but unfortunately many fetch quests too. I think that balancing the two is the key to a great experience. The story is always interesting and filled with choices and consequences. The base game ending would have been disappointing (and kinda rushed) if it wasn't for the Trespasser DLC that takes place after and explains a lot of things. There are also two more main DLCs in the GOTY edition: Jaws of Hakkon, which is actually very good, and The Descent, which is meh (due to the horrible level design and the disappointing ending with no meaningful choices). All companions are great, they have their own stories / quests / endings and tons of well-written dialogues. They also can approve / disapprove your actions, you can romance a few and some can even leave.

Combat is ok. Yes, there is less tactic involved compared to the previous games, but now it's more dynamic and I can't say I dislike it. Changing companions often and unlocking different skills for each one of them helps a lot.

Thedas feels alive, there are so many overwhelming details about the lore. It really takes time to read every book and connect every piece of info together. Maps are beautiful, maybe sometimes too big, with lot to do and lot to explore. Even for today standards graphics are really good, especially characters models, textures and effects.

Yes, Origin is bad and there are still technical problems (game not starting, game crashing at launch, steam overlay not always working, achievements not always getting unlocked, really slow loading times), but that's not enough reason to push down one of the best RPGs ever. I have more than 140 hours including Origin playtime. I don't remember why I didn't finish it many years ago, but I'm glad I did and now I can't wait for the next Dragon Age.

Dragon Age Inquisition takes the greatest aspects of a classic Bioware RPG and combines them with stunning visuals and an exploration system that is one of the best to date. Take all this and add a deep, emotional Bioware style story, and you have one of the best RPG's to date.

The game is a masterpiece. Let's get that out of the way. I enjoyed every minute of it but after a while Origin and/or Steam acts wonky and won't let me run this game. It boots up then almost immediately crashes. Sure I got 88 hours of gameplay but I still want to play more!

If you like RPGs then give this a shot but be warned that this issue might happen to you too.

Do I recommend this game? Yes. Do I recommend playing it on Steam? Not really. A lot of people have a problem of the game not launching or the game crashing constantly because of the Origin background launcher. There is a fix for this that includes going into & deleting some folders but it isn't always permanent. Meaning you may have to keep repeating this process just to be able to play the game. Either EA needs to fix this sh*t or Steam should drop EA Play.

I know a lot of people don't care for Origin, myself included, but it's probably better to just play Inquisition & Mass Effect 3 on it. Oddly enough no one seems to be having any problems with Andromeda launching though. Also just go ahead & give us Dragon Age Origins Remastered like we want ya goofy bast@rds.

Has Everything which makes a RPG great, characters are Rich, the lore is expansive and the choices have weight, gone are the typical good vs evils choices within previous bioware games.

To give a score
83/100

Pros - Story rich characters, choices and RPG elements fought out

Cons - Miss the Blood magic skill tree , the game becomes a grind if you want to complete everything and waiting times of the war quests

NOTE- Not completed the main storyline, 150- 200 hours is required to complete everything

Finally a game where running into small fire has no effect, you're not a running cloth soaked in flammable material

Latest entry in Dragon Age franchise. First I want to say that you wouldn't pay attention to my hours played. I've played on release on Origin. You can check my achievements, basically all of them were unlocked at the same time when I first launched the game on steam with steam achievements enabled and achievements synced. Nice feature, thanks EA.

Did I liked DA Origins? Yes and no. I loved the character interaction and dialogues but I disliked the majority of the game. Locations were boring, tunnels, small maps and those damn dwarf caves were tedious. I disliked the combat too. Honestly I don't understand why that is considered a pinnacle of rpg games by some. The best part of Origins was “enchantment?”.
Inquisition finally offers location variety and better combat system which is faster yet retains the tactical possibilities. No need to use mouse and keyboard anymore, this is made for controllers and it was great using a controller.

The game definitely has flaws but positives outweigh the negatives.
Character creation is ok, there could be more options for hairstyles maybe but it's alright. What I really love about this game are the characters. Majority of them are interesting and I want to learn more about them and their life. There are those mini-dialogues when you're traveling and having certain characters in your party leads to some hilarious conversations. My favorites are Sera, Bull and Dorian. The conversations between these three are priceless.
There's a lot of talking of course. It's a proper rpg so expect to listen to people and choose your answers/questions. Your choices also have an impact on future dialogues. Most of the time talking with people is fun and you learn the world lore, the backstories of the characters and so on. Your choices affects the character's opinion of you.

There are lots of things to do. Besides the obvious main story line (which is “you are the chosen one”) you get a lot of side quests. This is where the worst part of the game comes in. These quests are boring and they make the game feel like a single player mmo sometimes. It's just too repetitive. Of course first 5 or so quests in the area are fun because you get to explore the beautiful surroundings, discover new landmarks, astrariums, establish camps, gather materials for crafting and close rifts. But after 10th, 15th fetch quest it becomes boring. You'll be collecting stuff, running to objective countless times in each area. Like all that isn't enough to annoy you, the enemies respawn. If fought some enemies and used your potion and want to rest before going further you'll have to deal with respawned enemies again. That's just annoying and adds absolutely nothing to the game. It doesn't make the game harder, it makes the game tedious at times.
You have a war table where you can unlock new locations by acquiring points and sending agents to certain locations. Later on you get a castle to manage.

There are a lot of areas to explore. First one being Hinterlands which is beautiful. Even today it surpasses some other games graphically. There's a lot variety in maps, snow, forests, desert, rocky terrain, everything is there so it doesn't become bland after 20 hours. But! The maps feel kinda empty, they're filled with fetch quests and that's almost everything you do there.
Combat is really nice, you get skills mapped to controller buttons and can access them easily for quick actions. It doesn't take much from previous combat system, it just makes it more fun and fluid. It's still a very similar system, not an action game.
For those who miss real time-pause combat you can pause the game and enable the tactical view to take a minute to think and plan your actions. The combat hasn't lost depth, it's not that much different after all. It still becomes too chaotic in big fights.
You can quickly change character you control on the fly so the combat can become really tense.
Some enemies are extremely tough and will need some planning like using the right skills, builds and weapons and probably will require you to switch to tactical view. Overall a pretty standard rpg experience.
The enemy variety is pretty poor. Of course there are dragons but 99% of the time you fight same enemies over and over again and closing rifts where you need to fight same enemies. I wish there would be less enemies but tougher ones.

When it comes to relationships you obviously can have romantic relations with other characters. You need a little bit of work to get there, talk with them, gain their trust while learning about their past. The game is LGBT friendly so you won't be forced into traditional romantic relationship here.

This also includes all the DLC's so you're getting additional hours of fun.

This is a wonderful game graphically. Frostbite engine is one of the best engines out there, I wish EA would let other studios use it for a small fee. The game is quite old but it still looks amazing. All areas and maps are highly detailed, you leave footprints in the snow, plants react to you and overall look is great. Like this is not enough, facial animations and dialogue cut-scenes look better than Andromeda. Faces are more detailed, they look more natural when talking and are on par or near the quality of Witcher 3 or other AAA open world games with lots of talking. Definitely better than Fallout 4.

Performance on the other hand is meh. No, it's not meh, it's bad. It's an old game but it runs on ~40fps on max settings on current PC's. Cut-scenes could go down to 20fps. Lowering some settings and having g-sync helps but still this is not acceptable. Weird, i've played it on gtx970 on max settings at 60fps @ 1080p and now i'm on 3700x, 2070s, 32GB @3440x1440.
No ultrawide support out of the box but it works well using flawless widescreen.

Sound design in pretty high quality. Voice acting is definitely good, each character sounds different and they are acted very well. Each character has a distinct voice and talking manner. I can't say anything bad about soundtrack, maybe it's not something to remember but it fits the game setting pretty well. Overall AAA quality sound design.

This is not as bad as haters say. Sure there are better rpg's. But don't be afraid to buy this. It's a long game and will give you a lot hours of enjoyment. It's a good rpg with good writing and deep lore, lots of things to do and interesting characters. It looks great even today. The only bigger downside is mmo-like side quests.

Pros
  • Still looks great
  • Good variety in locations which are beautifully crafted
  • Character interaction is great
  • Romance options
  • Combat is pretty fun
  • Good voice acting

Cons
  • MMO-like gameplay
  • Poor performance
  • Poor enemy variety

Verdict: 75/100

Rating: 7.5/10
Genre: Fantasy RPG

The Good:
+ All quest markers appear on the map making it very convenient to look at your map and figure out where you want to go next. Even highlighting locations on the world map also shows all quests available for that region, making for a very easy and intuitive UI.

+ Lots of different active/passive skills spread out between multiple classes offers plenty of variety in character builds.

+ Every location offers a different environment, elven forests, snowy mountain tops, stormy coasts etc. Every location feels unique which makes exploring a bit more interesting.

+ Rich lore, books, backstory etc. detailing the world history, enemies, characters, and locations for those that want to immerse themselves further into the dragon age universe.

+ Side characters are always a strong point with Bioware games and this game is no exception. After recruiting NPC to your party, you can talk to them in between quests to learn more about them. Depending on who you have in your party you can always listen to interesting banter between them which always adds a nice touch to the overall atmosphere. The banter is excellent and changes depending on party members, location, where you are in the main story etc. Throughout my entire playthrough I always heard new conversations between party members. If you gain enough favors with them, you can then do special quests. These quests seem to be the most interesting parts of the game.

The Average:
+/- The UI for equipping armor/weapons/accessories could have been better. Having to scroll through a list of items every time you want to equip a new item gets very cumbersome especially if you have a large party.

+/- The main story/plot is pretty basic even by bioware standards. Given how detailed everything else is, the main plot feels like it takes a back seat to everything else. If you played a fantasy RPG before, you should know what to expect.

+/- Combat can be done in either real-time or tactical advantage where you can manually dictate your party members to cast specific skills. I never found this to be particular useful as your party members do a decent enough job fighting without your help. Combat comes down to spamming your skills and waiting for them to recharge. Certain skills are cool to use but combat itself requires very little effort. It never really mattered what enemies I was fighting the strategy was always the same even on the hardest difficultly setting.

The Bad:
- Fetch quests/side quest seem like an afterthought, almost every area has the typical “collect 5 of items x” etc, or close 5 rifts. Every once in a while, you come across an NPC who wants someone dead or find a lost farm animal. It feels hollow and boring, and doesn’t require much effort.

Conclusion:
Compared to more modern RPG games, this game is starting to show its age, the quest and world design feel outdated already. Its fun for a while until you realise the most areas play out the same way. I feel Bioware could have taken more creative risks with the game but decided to play it very safe.

Everybody's building empires,
Building walls high in the name of glory.
Everybody's hanging high wires.
It's a fine line, it's an age-old story.

The first will be last
And the last will be kings.
The small will be great
And the great will be weak.
Everybody's building empires,
But it's our time...

Completely gutted the tactics system, which was a large part of the appeal DAO and even DA2 had for me.

I tried to play this as an action game instead. Planned to build my companions to combat their own inept AI instead of the enemies. But I never got that far, because exploring this game is just so draining!

There's this big map with almost nothing in it! Collect 20 shards, close 20 rifts, etc etc whilst riding around on a horse inspired by a flaw of skyrim(It's hooves have a magical molasses enchant on them). It's such a shame that this game is open world, I always loved dragon age for having a more focused story and sidequests that added to it.
The game feels like it's all filler. Maybe main story missions pack more of a punch, but those are locked away behind a mandatory 'power' requirement. How do you get power? Exploring and sidequests...
People will recommend to skip 95% of the games content, be it the avalanche of fetchquest
sidemissions or boring puzzles scattered throughout the maps. But playing a lore-driven rpg game (it sure isn't combat driven), and then skipping out on the vast majority of content just doesn't sit well with me.

It's like it's not even trying to be a dragon age game. I can't believe that with it's terrible re-used environments and dull enemies, I STILL prefer dragon age 2 over this.

It's an okay game, but not as nearly good as DA Origins. It's missing all those role-play options Origins had, kinda feels like your character is meant to be good and nice. I'm lacking those funny and diverse conversation options. On the other side it's good they added exploration, some decorating in your main hold, crafting cool armors and weapons, but now I feel like the map is just too big and it get exhausting to run to same places over and over again. Not to mention some enemies randomly spawn along with a whole camp on some places while I'm carelessly running around. Also I prefered loot on click and cut scenes DAO had. Even tho I still don't prefer these over DAO, Inquisition has more companions, some cool quests, new combat style and so on that some people may end up loving. Not the best DA game but I think it's worth the shot! Be ready for lots of hours of gaming!

Dragon Age: Inquisition
----------------------------------
Third in the dragon age franchise, this game has a better prodcution value than the second game.
Still falls a bit short in the total package compaired to the first.

But, its a damn good rpg. Great soundtrack, great characters and great story.
Combat is fun, it has been changed, but it still feels great to play.

World design is fantastic and is eye candy in a lot of parts.
Inquisition is a must play for RPG fans.

Enjoy the game !

Let me preface this by saying that this game is my favourite game of all time, and I would very much like to write an essay just gushing over this game. However, as that may not be very helpful, I decided to write what I love about the game in bullet points.

- Masterfully-written story that ties in beautifully with the events of the previous games. If you enjoy stories of heroes with humble origins who rise to greatness, this is the epitome of that. It's epic, grand, and just makes you want to pump your fist in the air! Did I mention that it also has some of the best DLCs available?
- I am someone who enjoys active combat and DAI fully embraces that, making it just down-right FUN (compared to the previous games, in my opinion). Every single fight is an adrenaline rush because you feel like you're right there in the thick of it, instead of directing your characters like a God controlling chess pieces. Even just stabbing a ram for meat or attacking a group of bandits is fun. It gives you endless freedom to use the battlefield to your advantage. You can evade the enemy, block attacks, and deal damage whatever way you like. This doesn't mean you can't play it like an RPG, but DAI gives you the freedom to choose if you want to take a strategic approach and watch it play out, or if you like getting your hands dirty with actual combat.
- The characters are all so likeable and charming, even down to the side characters. The dialogue is so cleverly written and PERFECTLY voiced. The entire cast has so much personality and their interactions will leave you either giddy with laughter or brimming with emotion. The connection you form with each and every one of them ties in very poignantly with the story that is told in the Trespassers DLC.
- The interface and gameplay is perfect. It's design is stylistic, sleek, intuitive, and extremely thoughtful. Having the map ready to access whenever you want to is also extremely handy, especially since you have so many vast maps to explore and quests that take you all over the place. The search function is also such a great feature and is vital for those who love to be thorough in cleaning out an area of all lootable items and for finding side quests.
- There are numerous regions for you to explore and each map is so unique and vast. The environments are breath-taking and gorgeously-designed, with ambient music and sounds that fully immerses you in the environment. It really just evoked this sense of wonder and exploration in me. And unlike prior installments, DAI allows for free-roaming (like Skyrim, I suppose), which enables you to explore every nook and cranny of a map. This gives you an immense sense of satisfaction when you finally complete a map as you feel every step you took to uncover the place.
- The graphics and music are just sublime. Technology has really come a long way in how realistic games can be in emulating real life and DAI is no exception. Whether it's watching your characters have a conversation, to simply standing next to a waterfall and watching the water cascade down the rocks, or walking in desert and looking to the sky. There are so many moments like these that just make you pause in wonder.

There is so much more that I can write here, but I think I'll leave it at that. There is a reason it won GOTY in 2014, and so deservedly so. It's unfortunate that some people have been having trouble with even starting the game, and hopefully, EA/Bioware can figure something out.

UPDATE: if you are having this issue, it may be your antivirus software. I use Avast and have to temporarily disable it so the game will boot. It's annoying, but not the end of the world.

I cannot currently recommend this purchase.. Fix the issues with Origin so I can actually play.

I love Dragon Age, and I played a bit of Inquisition on the Xbox back in the day. When I saw it was on sale I was really excited to finally have it on PC... BUT. It won't boot from Steam. Fine, try Origin. Nope. Not from there either. Acts like its going to start but then black screens and crashes. Tried loading directly from the .exe file.. no luck there either... So yeah. Really glad I wasted money on a game I can't even access.

2014 GOTY. Amazing story, music, environments, and characters. One of my favorite games of all time. Lots of replay value. I have probably 6 complete playthroughs (mostly on origin) and still haven't seen all the possible romances and endings. This is probably the last great Bioware game.

I previously owned this game on PS4, and have played every previous entry in the series. Personally, this game is my favorite out of every other entry, I liked it so much I bought it twice.

The Story:

You’re thrust into the world of Inquisition as a hero by chance, caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. Through no action of your own, you have the only ability that can save the world. You can choose to lead for yourself, the oppressed, and all other manner of reasons. With an amazing team of well written and voiced characters, all with their own unique pasts to learn about, it makes for world of choices. Each choice leads you to a new outcome, some having massive results, even changing the world around you.

Your character is first defined by an easy set of three choices.
Your class, your race, your gender. All of these choices open up a whole wealth of interesting story elements down the line. Things you know already, and things you can learn.

The races include:

Elf
Human
Qunari
Dwarf

I love a well made Role-Playing game, and Inquisition is just that. You can play through the game multiple times and still have new choices to make. You can form romantic relationships and friendships with those you journey with, aiding the already titanic story. Be hated among your peers, or a paragon for them to admire, your Inquisitior will always be unique to you.

The Combat:

You take on this fantastic world as one of three different classes that have remained consistent across games.

The Warrior
The Rogue
The Mage

Each class(besides mags) comes with two starting weapon types. Sword and shield, and two handed for warrior. Then bow, and duel daggers for rogue. The mage always uses the trusty staff.

From here you gain access to character trees, as you level up you gain ability points, you use these to unlock new abilities. Customizable characters is already the name of the game, and Inquisition keeps coming. Each class starts with four unique trees to put your points into, focus on one kind, or split the points as you see fit. Later in the game, your companions as well as yourself gain access to new trees. Where your companions are pre selected for certain unique specializations, you are able to choose.

The game is completed on a four man party system. One member must be your player character, allowing you to pick three companions to travel with you. You can customize their weapons, armor, accessories, and what abilities they use.

You can swap control over the different characters, and even set certain abilities to only be used by the player, locking the AI from wasting their use. This already strategic methodology is made deeper with the use of the Tactical Camera.

The world pauses and you gain access to all characters at once, allowing you to set up your movements and attacks. Then with a press of a button, time resumes and your choices play out. You can play using this pause and attack method, or simply let time flow and wield the power of The Inquisitor.

The game rewards those that understand the basics, all taught in the prologue. Crafting gear and upgrading potions is beyond important. This is done using resources like herbs, ores, cloth, and leathers found on your journey. A wise player will take some time to collect the iron deposit nearby, so they may create better gear later. Understanding these simple concepts will decide if the game is harder for you, or easier.

The Other:

While I could speak about BioWare as a company, and the many things they’ve done wrong. I could look at the trust they’ve broken, and their recent failures. Failures like ignoring their fan base. I choose to focus on what they’ve done right...Dragon Age Inquisition.

It is set in an amazingly written world that has had several decades of work put into it. With amazingly unique and fun characters for anyone to fall in love with. The combat(especially on harder difficulty) is strategic and exciting. You will travel to a diverse group of regions. From the mountains of the Hinterlands, to the endless desert of the Hissing Wastes.

So if you want a game that has: an amazing story, a lore rich world, well written characters, beautiful scenery, and a customizable combat system, the Dragon Age Inquisition is the game for you.

I want nothing less than for Origin to be thrust from the highest balcony into a pit of molten rat turds, and for the upper management of EA and everyone else who thought this clunky invasive software was a smart investment to follow suit. If I bought the game on Steam and not your in-house client, maybe it's because your launcher sucks complete pee pee and I don't want to suffer it.

I like this game. I really do. After playing it on Ps4 years ago i saw the sale and thought t would play it again.

EA's Origin Launcher...said no to my nostalgia trip.

I didn't even make it into the first cut-scene of the game. All I've seen is the loading screen, then...crash.
I do not understand why i am forced to install Origin AFTER buying it on steam, and run this game using Origin.
I am blown away by the bull!@#$ of EA.

Don't buy this on steam. Don't give your money to EA. It didn't work for a second. I'm currently waiting on my refund.

I owned it on Origin and played it 358 hours there. So when it went on sale on Steam I had to get it and start playing it through yet again. I love the Dragon Age series and I could practically live in this one. As others have said, in an age where you can click a quest and the game practically walks you to the target itself, this one does not hold your hand. It is extremely in depth. You have to pay attention or you'll miss something. The characters are deep and fun. The romances are great (Cullen <3). The DLC is all good as well. There are surprises and twists and with the help of Dragon Age Keep you can keep the same story, your story, throughout all the games. Lots of nostalgia for those of us who have played them all, but it's not necessary. You can jump in right here and enjoy the story. Definitely worth it. You invest, not just your time, but your emotions. A great game. Along with Dragon Age Origins, one of my all time favorites.

Like a lot of people that played Origins, I consider that game to be one of the best RPGs of all time. Both sequels thereafter have gone in very different directions resulting in some mixed feedback, however if you can come into these games with an open mind and look at them as separate games that happen to take place in the same universe there's not a lot to complain about here.

Unlike ostensibly a lot of people I had no technical issues with the game itself, Dragon Age Keep syncronisation or the Origin overlay, however one glaring oversight is the 30 FPS lock during cutscenes which is tremendously jarring when the game runs so buttery otherwise. For this a launch argument fix is readily available.

The lore and world building are masterclass tier, the writing in general is very good especially when it comes to the cast of characters and companions. I consider this to be one of the foundational pillars of this franchise, and Inquistion still has the goods.

I didn't spend a lot of time playing rogue, but the mage and warrior combat is competent, this is perhaps the one area of the game I wish they put more depth into. As it is, I'd call it servicable. Nothing drastic is wrong or out of place, it's just been very streamlined to the point of feeling a bit sterile. The mechanical deep dive you can take into Origins' combat is all but absent, while Inqusition still retains the tactical mode I got the impression that it kinda wants to be played more like a traditional third person action game.
An issue with the mages especially is that roughly by the midpoint in the game you unlock more abilities than you have slots for and you need to start making decisions on which abilities to put onto the UI and which to leave out. This felt like such an artificial and annoying limitation, present only to make the game playable on consoles. The expandable hotbar from Origins is sorely missed RIP.

The major story quests are consistently brilliant and thrilling, however they are sandwiched between more MMO style gameplay loops that are definitely more variable in quality. Having said that, for the vast majority of what you do in DA:I I found myself quite engrossed.
The progression in gaining more power, both in terms of your party and greater inquisition, the crafting, the dragon hunting, the puzzley bits, even the usually tedious collectibles have gotten a loving treatment here, oh my, this is some real, real good shit and all the people that seem to turn their noses up at this game because of the Origin overlay, or simply because DA:I isn't Origins are missing out on a wonderful game.

In 2020 the graphics hold up very well, and the art direction especially when it comes to the environments is fantastic and really makes you wanna go and explore the map even if there's no quests in an area. As inconsequential as this sounds, to me this is a critical metric for every RPG and I do not tire of wandering through the world of DA:I.

I do like the game and do recommend it

But it's important you know what it is and what you're getting into.
It's 70 percent fetch quests, picking flowers, finding collectables, crafting, etc
20 percent combat, which is decent, but very easy. There's a tactical mode but even on the hardest difficulty I just used my own character and never really controlled anyone else.
10 percent story and character interactions. The story is serviceable. Some of the character interactions can be great.

The graphics are alright. The animations range from passable to horrid. Everything else is pretty great.
