Cons
- Leblose Welt: Die Welt (insbesondere in Ansiedlungen/Städten) wirkt außergewöhnlich leblos.
Man muss nachher eh googeln, was man wo wie machen muss.

This game is Awesome but definitely glitchy and laggy at times. it reminds me of Dungeons and Dragons online, World of warcraft and Everquest. The combat is very Responsive and fun, rolls, somersalts and back flips, attack in the air, and a very nice selection of spells and hot keys. the dungeons are cool and the ability too turn random hostile encounters on heavy is nice. i highly recommend reading quest and character build guides before or whiles playing the game and following them, the game can be very glitchy and crash alot so you may have to go back and re do things, definitely save lots as you progress or go into load screens, new areas or back into old areas. My friend says this game is the Abusive Lover you cant help but come back too LOL, i must agree and second that notion, if you can look past its flaws and progress the levels its a very rewarding experience and the game gets so fun as soon as you start too multi class. im a Knight and a Sorcerer and its cool how i can cast a spell on a horde of enemies press tab and change targets, i recommend playing with the cursor on which is enabled by pressing control. as a Fan of old graphics, and Runescape being my all time favorite, i recommend this game.

I ran like Forrest Gump in this game.

I did play Collectors Edition many times in my childhood, but Steam version is a lot worse.

Lots and lots of running one place to another. I think it's impossible to finish this game without walkthrough quides - there are several quests which doesn't tell you what to do next and where to go.
Fighting is satisfying, but gets boring mid game.
Questline is meh.
Still - fun to try for once or twice.

Taking a walk through the Woods, getting Steamrolled by an Army of Goblins that even got a Ballista with them - Great Game

Ive got a Heart for Obscure Bad Good Games. This is one of them.
It clearly has alot of flaws like not clear enough quest directions or alot of enemies that take control from you and so on (Gets on your nerves as melee)

But i actually really love the Variety of Enemies in the Game and their look.
Its like a bad B Movie that has alot of Good stuff hidden beneath some Cheese.
Also i quite enjoy that the Game tells you absolutely nothing, this makes you really feel like playing an Adventure.
Not like some of the New Rpgs that are more like an Amusement Park where you go from one attraction to another without ever really having to guess something or the Fear to really get lost.
Class Variety is also Great.

The Game is simply fun if you can look over some stuff and dont mind reloading.
Theres something in it that i miss in most modern Games.

Dont know how long i really play this, but for the Time i absolutely like it.

I have to say although it is fun and there are some improvements (notably to UI and other ease of use features) there are some major gripes.

Some are from the base game. Being constantly harangued by avalanches of level 1 rats, thieves, snakes and worst of all bats is so, so frustrating. Unfortunately, this isn't just because of the slog of killing a dozen rats for the dozenth time in so many minutes.

This flaw in the base game synergizes with a flaw introduced in the steam version to truly make you want to cry while playing this game. The attribute requirements have been replaced by a weapon integrity system, meaning after beheading so many rats with your axe you have to repair otherwise its like pounding them with your fists, except slower. The time it takes for your gear to degrade is much shorter than it should be for a game that throws platoons of scrubs at you every time you turn a street corner. Your weapons wear significantly after only a few groups of enemies.

The situation which results from all this, from my own perspective, is that when I turn a corner to inevitably see the hundredth swarm of bats in what seems like five minutes, I feel what can only be described as despair. I know that I am doomed to either run around taking minor damage while ignoring constant, high-pitched screeching, or chop impotently at their enragingly small hitboxes while my weapons and armor crumble to pieces on my virtual avatar's body.

Faced with these situations the player is left with a dilemma. Keep some backup weapon/armor sets, or let mobs whittle down your good stuff to be left only with tatters and rotten cudgels (statistically, not visually) when you fight some specter flinging AoE spells at you from 40 feet in the air while you toss back an occasional dagger or arrow and hope they deign to join you on the ground out of pity (they occasionally do).

Backup equipment might seem to be a passable although regrettable solution except for another caveat - which is that opening your inventory does not pause the game, and to equip new weapons and armor you must drag your other set of equipment from the inventory screen to the character sheet screen and drop them on the appropriate area, in which time you could easily be paralyzed and subsequently fried and served as elven stew for your enemies.

Were this just for boss battle this is an annoyance (the newest in a line of several!) but not insurmountable due to the poor enemy AI. Get behind the right doorway and you can usually buy enough time to swap some of your gear out, and after a few of those moments you might be able to swap everything out. The worse part is that up until that boss fight you're now spending inordinately more time bashing critters with pitiful amounts of damages because your broke-ass backup gear is a waste of resources to fix because you want to keep the limited repair kits for your good stuff.

This also aggravates another issue which is a tiny inventory space and infinite amounts of garbage dropped by certain types of mobs, such as thieves, goblins, and skeletons. This could be almost entirely mitigated by some kind of loot blacklist system, but as it stands inventory management is a pain as it fills up quickly with trash and its a pain to manage (pickpocketing is both overpowered and yet another annoyance!).

All these factors culminate into a swarm of low level bats provoking a feeling of inescapable despair, not because they're a challenge, but because no matter what you do, this skirmish is going to suck, and it's the hundredth time its sucked...and there's no end in sight.

This all leads me to the conclusion that the only feasible ways to play this game are going for one of the unarmed prestige classes (I distinctly remember some elven monks kicking my ass in the original game, so my hope is that it hasn't been nerfed), or to play as a mage. Unfortunately the steam version elected to change the spell casting style into a stationary world of warcraft style channeling cast instead of being able to run and cast. But all the same I might try and restart the game as a mage and just toss fireballs everywhere which have a shockingly large (and invisible!) area of effect.

Overall you're still getting a fairly faithful dungeon lords experience...just with some of the pain points removed and some other ones amplified by an order of magnitude. The base game itself would pass as a thumbs up - although not completely comfortably - but the steam edition unfortunately has enabled the game's worse instincts, and that pushes the game into a solid thumbs down.

Don't misunderstand my recommendation - it's a shit game and probably even worse than the original version of it. But it's shit in an interesting, engaging and fun way and if you're interested in game design it's a lot of fun to play and experience why a lot of good ideas in this game don't work the way they implemented them.

Also, look forward to having a whole bag full of useless RGB-stones and not being able to get rid of them.

What is Dungeon Lords ?

Got surprised with this one, its an old rpg game that I never heard of, a game that has been forgotten by time, its surprised me because Im someone who is very familiar with old pc games especially rpgs, I found this here on steam during a sale and gave it a go while its not what I call a great underrated gem its a pretty competent low-budget title, its fun to play altho a bit janky, it reminds me of games like diablo and such but in a full 3d style perspective, you create your character and choose his race and class and is instantly dropped into an tutorial forest area, with a npc giving you your first steps and theres enemies to kill, loot to find, the usual stuff but theres something cool here, it has coop integrated so playing something like this with someone is just a great trait this game has, considering how cheap it is too if the fact that its an old game doesnt bother you and if you want to coop rpg experience to have this is a fine pick.

only play with a guide. a general walkthrough is advised.
dungeons are actually hard (and a bit frustrating) opened a guide in every single one of them
you become insanely overpowered at the end (or even middle) but gameplay is just somehow fun. the game itself is very messy, but lovable in its own right

This game was pretty tedious and boring and I was starting to lose steam after 4/5 relics collected but I accidentally managed to climb on top of one of the many mountain walls segmenting the world and then climbed into the endgame zone to kill the final boss, bypassing what I could only assume was even more hours of tepid dungeoneering.

10/10 would boundary break again. Thank goodness now I can uninstall in peace.

Never played this, until recently. I am about 17 hours in and I have to say as a newcomer I am really enjoying myself. I find myself pleased and interested by much of the story and quest. Now, I know many rush to point out some of the dated mechanics and clunky user interface; But contrary to many others opinions I find the pacing, and strategy of combat to be a nice change from some of the more modern fast paced games. On the User interface point, I personally think its fine, but also understand that returning players may find the UI to be a bit different. Also love the class building I have so far had a chance to try out the Fighter, Adept, and Mage. I have enjoyed the Adept most of all and the Fighter is a close second. I would suggest this game for anyone looking for a good classic RPG to play alone or with friends!

Doesn't play like the Collectors edition. I just find it lackluster. It's just not as entertaining, enemies feel a lot tankier, building a character isn't as fun to me via the leveling system. I mean it looks great visually I have to give this version that compliment but it's just not a great pickup. If you're going to buy dungeon lords, don't bother with this version.

Dungeon Lords, a game that I've had in my game library for years and have now finally finished.
This journey started years ago with a couple of friends. We were looking for a fun co-op game and somehow found Dungeon Lords. Our first attempt at the game lasted about 2 hours; it was then put on ice for about 4 years. Our second try was almost identical and it wasn’t until early 2021 with our third attempt that we really pushed ourselves.
There is a reason why it took years to complete. It is an incomplete game that has nothing of value to offer you as a player.

In the end I was the only one with endurance enough to finish the game, but I salute my comrades for trying.
The online experience is horrendous with its constant crashes and the fact that it is a broken game will push people away no matter how hilarious it seems to be. It just isn’t worth it.
I played 130 hours + and I give it 1/5, since it technically is a game.

** Read this if you are planning on buying the game for multiplayer

Like many other people I really wish there was a middle option between a Positive and Negative review.

This game, despite the crust, is actually a pretty competent RPG. However the crust that it does have is extremely thick and is manifested in bugs, glitches, and an absolute mess of a multiplayer system.

This game is advertised as being 8 players which is about a quarter true. Using the Steam multiplayer lobby, you can actually only get 4 people in a lobby and this appears to be a hard limit. Using LAN either genuinely or via Hamachi, it is possible to get more. However, my friends and I were only able to jam about 6 people into a lobby before we started facing inexplicable issues regarding lobby connectivity, and after that first time we were never able to get more than 5 people into a lobby even using Hamachi.

Also, once in the game, at various times there were significant desyncs, physics issues that launched players into the skybox, and heinous lagspikes that seemingly came from nowhere that required reloads and otherwise hindered the quality of the experience. I would say that 2/3 of my gametime has been multiplayer troubleshooting.

Outside of these issues, like any game, multiplayer improves the experience though you may need to increase the difficulty as the natural scaling for more players can be outpaced once you get a 4-stack going.

The game itself has already been covered by many of the other reviews, but to sum it up the game is a perfectly fine RPG with a reasonably free class system that still appeals to class fantasy through the different weapon fighting styles, feats, and non-combat skills which can be steadily mixed and matched as you progress through the story.

I swear they released this game four times and it's been undercooked each and every time, and with some polish this game could be significantly better though it seems that may never come.

TL;DR: The game is pretty good, probably a 6 or 7 out of 10 but well worth it on sale, but if playing multiplayer buyer beware as you will fight more game jank than you will rats or goblins.

If you're into pretty crappy games but they're still technically playable and there's some good in them that'll keep you playing, kind of like Two Worlds, you'll most likely enjoy this. If you check the forums and even the reviews people are constantly complaining about how the Collector's edition is so much better and well. They're not wrong, but this version isn't completely terrible. It's playable start to finish, there's definitely some balance issues but nothing will really break the game as far as I can tell. However, the person who designed the Shadow Ruins should be forced to play it over and over again for a few years as punishment for the slog it is, makes Lost Izalith from DS1 seem slightly less terrible.

Do I recommend this game? Yes! But wait! It depends. It depends who you are and what you like. If you like old school RPG's like Dungeon Siege 1, Ghotic and the sort, you will most likely like this game. It is far from perfect, but still, I consider this game a classic that has to be played. If you are the kind of person who go out of their way to play old RPG's you will like this game.

Here are a few tips:

- Spend points in Acrobatics early on to make the gameplay and movements more enjoyable.
- Just loot everything till you find the first vendor, no need to micromanage like crazy. You most likely will have enough space for everything.
- Once you reach level 10 ish, I would suggest you in the main menu to up the difficulty and lower the encounter frequency. The frequency is a part of the charm of this game in the beginning of the game but later on it becomes really annoying. For example when I entered the slums on '' normal '' encounter difficulty it took me literally one hour to kill a vampire because I would get armies of enemies spawn every 10 seconds while I was trying to fight the vampire, making it almost impossible to damage her (as a melee).

So overall, fun game. Clunky. Far from perfect, but fun OG rpg.

Don't consider yourself a gamer until you beat Dungeon Lords, like me. Maybe one day you'll be as mlg as me but until then why don't you go on home to moma, she's waitin'n for ya.

Finally after so many years of trying, I could enjoy and finish this game.
Now with the Steam Edition it´s a fully rounded, playable game without bugs.
I needed to use a walkthrough, it´s a convoluted and complex, hours upon hours of adventuring, a worthy classic game.
Happy to have it in my library.

Multiplayer is unplayable, incredibly laggy. I see it's a common problem, I didn't see any fixes. Really wanted to play it again, but that's a refund since coop doesn't work.

This is such a dumpster fire of a game and I love it. It's horribly glitchy, unbalanced, and the movement is awkward. I can think of almost no redeeming qualities.

The game has enjoyable RPG features and quests but it is also frustrating, annoying and uniquely lacking in quality of life gameplay. There is a bollox of movement, attacking, mastering controls, no pause and viewing (really horrific to try to view the action when you are in tight spaces). Then there is the lack of a manual, good tooltips or game journal (there is a good steam guide and the Gamebanshee walkthrough that help). I wanted to finish the game but gave up at the Trial of Elders, I have better games to conquer. I can only half-heartedly recommend it.

I own this game in the tin box but decide to give this steam edition a try.

The game is mainly how I remember it: an hard-RPG deeply old style.
Loads of combat. Loads of loot. Highly customisable.
The game is a no-frill experience. It lacks the modern polish or fancy graphics but is brutally fun to play and engaging.

There aren't hour of spoken text and the story is told trough letters, a few cutscenes and such.
It got its share of bugs (death autosave...) but overall is a very nice, old stile, CRPG romp.

Edit: be warned.
Some aspects of the game as just blatantly boring and will make you wonder why are you sticking to this.

The game, also, makes a pretty bad job in communicating what is the next quest, often obliging me to look for hints on line on what should be my next move.
Some quests I've completed by chance, not even realising that I completed it...

Somewhere under all this mess is a great game. In fact, it could have been one of the greats. But because of bad devs, lazy programming, or just plain indifferance to their work, this game came out terribly flawed. After 3 complete revisions ( not just upgrades, complete revisions!) this game is still full of bugs, broken quests, and bad development. Stay away!

One of the worst RPGs I've ever had the displeasure of playing. Every element that you can think of - from UI to story - is half cocked or simply broken. The game is a mess and barely functions as a single player game ... don't even think about dragging some poor soul along for this terrible ordeal (yes, the game can be played coop), unless you're doing it out of spite or something.

One of my favorite games from my childhood
It was a big surprise for me, but it's still fun to play
Though there are bugs and it's way too outdated to fully enjoy it

Had earlier versions of this game on CD/DVD when they were own or published by dream catcher games.(was sad to see them close)
A Fun old game that now looks dated but still has way more things to offer then newer games these days.
i have spent hundreds of hrs on this before steam sold it.
it's old but it's still fun to play even in 2019.
