This is a perfect example of interplay's complete and utter incompetence as a company. If they were not going to make any effort at porting they could at least have used snes9x with a rom for earthworm jim 2 instead of using dosbox.

Surprisingly, The DOS Version of Earthworm Jim 2 is not bad, it seems that the developers have learnt their lesson after the abomination that was the DOS Version of Earthworm Jim 1, The Physics have been fixed, making them closer to the Sega Genesis version, I have not encountered any glitches this time, thank god, and the backgrounds & sprites from the Sega version are recreated well here.

The only gripe I have is that one level is missing, Lorenzen's Soil, which is featured in every other version of the game. It's a shame they couldn't include it as it was one of my favorite levels from the Sega version.
Aside from that, game is good, I would still recommend buying or emulating the Playstation / Saturn version of Earthworm Jim 2. But if you don't have enough money to order an old CD online or don't want to resort to piracy then get this game on Steam.

This is a no-effort money grab. This is a hackneyed dosbox setup (even after applying the fan patch). Controller input is only possible through joy2key or similar. You're effectively paying for an experience that's completely inferior to and vastly more inconvenient than that attainable with an emulator. It is absurdly overpriced for what we get, even on sale. Absolutely shameless.

Avoid this travesty of a cash-in attempt like the plague.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this port is god awful. The audio is broken, the controls are broken, and the joypad configuration doesn't help. I'm sorry, You're better off not spending your money on a broken port of a good game.

Guys, don't be silly and do your research before purchasing old games outright and pretending to be scammed directly afterwards. Some neat facts for newbies:

- 99% of DOS games are sold with DOSBox emulator embedded and pre-configured;
- There was no Windows version of Earthworm Jim 2 (only Earthworm Jim 1);
- DOS version of Earthworm Jim 2 is different from console versions (yes, no Lorenzen's Soil level);
- DOS version of Earthworm Jim 2 is actually more advanced than colsole versions technically (the resolution is higher, music is CD-quality) and was made to run on 486 PCs (not 386s).

Check the wiki or something...

Also, this was the first and only rendition of EWJ2 I played in the 90s, and I love it to this day. The console versions all seem filtered and muffled to me :P

Earthworm Jim is the amazing game (and series), no doubts, but there is one very important thing you need to know:

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ON STEAM

It is a horrible port, seriously, it's bad on so many levels
-Horribly emulated and you will have problems with controls
-Horribly cut comparing to the SEGA and NES versions - music and levels are missing, and there is NO info about that on the steam page.
-20$ for 3 bad ports is a rip-off

If you want to play this game, simply get SEGA or NES emulator and ROMs, so you could actually enjoy the game.

I wish I could refund this game, but I bought the pack years ago before that new refund system and support refused to return my money when I bought it. I wrote a money back ticket half an hour after I bought the game, and they closed the ticket like a month later with something like *bad port is not our problem - no refund*

It is missing the best level in the game which had one of the best BGM ever in a game (Lorenzo's Soil). That alone earns a thumbs down.

Poor response by keyboard and mouse. Rom occasionally lags. No sound effects. Do not want anymore.

Don't fall for this, its a trap.
I remember as kid playing a fully windows Version of EarthWormJim 1 (special edition) it was a fully working windows ewj1 game, is there anything like that for Earthworm Jim 2 in this steam game version ???? Answer = NO.

Steam version is a poorly D.O.S emulated pack (dosbox), I cant even turn volume music down on ewj2, is so loud that i can barely listen to the in-game Sounds :/

as an EJ2 fan, i'm very doged, wow :'(

As a fan of Earthworm Jim growing up this is an interesting case of nostalgia hitting up with what amounts to a lousy port.

Back in the SNES days Earthworm Jim was considered a fun game due to it's unique charm. Excellent gameplay, responsive controls, outrageous humor, terrific song and music, and fair difficulty. It's everything you want in a game, something that doesn't take itself too seriously and if you screwed up it wasn't the game's fault it's because you weren't good enough.

Some are present here, however the port wasn't a clean one.

Hit detection can be dodgy, missing levels, sounds that just aren't plumb there. Even among the poor ports out there this is probably the worst of the bunch.

If you want to get Earthworm Jim, I'd recommend the SNES/Sega/SegaCD ports. You're missing out by getting this even if you are a fan of Earthworm Jim.

A some-what nice version of Earthworm Jim 2, the color pallet sometimes messes up when you go into fullscreen, which can be fixed, but it's a long process. This is the best game out of the EWJ Pack. One problem though, this version of EWJ2 doesn't have the second level, Lorenzo's Soil. This is also the DOSBox version of EWJ2 from The Whole Can 'O Worms pack for the PC, not that it's a problem, but it makes things a bit more pixelated.

Note: I have Windows 7, and this works fine.
