Frostpunk 2 ist die Fortsetzung des preisgekrönten, BAFTA nominierten Gesellschafts-Survival-Spiels, das Städtebau, Strategie und Management-Gameplay verbunden und ein neues Genre erschaffen hat. 30 Jahre nach dem apokalyptischen Schneesturm kämpft die Erde noch immer gegen raues Wetter und das eisige Klima des endlosen Frosts.

Du bist der Leiter einer Metropole, die nach Rohstoffen giert, in der der Ausbau und die Suche nach neuen Energiequellen unvermeidliche Realität ist. Nach dem Kohle-Zeitalter hofft man, dass die Eroberung von Frostland für die Erdölindustrie die verbliebene Menschheit rettet. Doch Veränderung ist nicht einfach und nicht jeder in dieser neuen vielschichtigen Gesellschaft begrüßt diese neue Ausrichtung.

Ansprüche und Erwartungen der verschiedenen Lager werden die Spannungen erhöhen und Konflikte provozieren, aber ist eine kaltblütige Regelung und Politik à la Machiavelli nötig? Da die ewige Kälte die Stadt weiterhin im Griff hat und Bedrohungen von außen aufkommen, musst du sicherstellen, dass deine Leute vereint, engagiert und bereit zu großen, unvermeidlichen Opfern sind!

I'll put it like this:
Frostpunk 2 isn’t a bad game.
But it definitely doesn’t feel like the first Frostpunk.

In the original, everything had a purpose. Every citizen mattered. Even the way you laid out your streets had meaning.
Every decision carried weight. But here? I just don’t feel it.

Building the reactor in The Last Autumn—racing against time—that felt special. Every bell toll felt like a failure, a reminder that the reactor wouldn’t be as perfect as it should’ve been.

Saving the saplings as a small group of stranded scientists? That was beautiful, meaningful.

But in this game?
Clear some snow, place some buildings, go out, fetch 1,000 people, send them to a colony, establish a resource line.

It’s just... missing that emotional weight.

Don't buy, just get the original and its expansions. 11bit announcing a remake to the first game before they've bothered creating another campaign for this one is a shameful use of resources.

The thing that made frostpunk 1 so good is that everything you have is the people and your generator, that was how the game was ment to be with every action being risk not a open ''sim'' game like frostpunk 2 it just dosen't have the same feeling of deppresion and despair as the first one.

This game is the reason I will never pre-purchase a game sequel ever again. The original Frostpunk is one of my top 5 games of all time, and every news posted about postponing the release date was disappointing. Little did I know Frostpunk 2 would be the biggest disappointment of them all.

The atmosphere is good, but it took away the core gameplay of the first game that made the game fun.

People criticise it for being different than the first game, however the games are doing different things. The first game is apocalyptic, a crisis that you're having to survive. Meanwhile the second game can be described as post-apocalyptic. You survived the crisis, so now what?

I really like this game. It's less of a colony management game, and more of a society simulator. Different interest groups clamouring to make their vision of the city come true, and you having to balance these groups so that they don't tear the city apart. I've yet to play a game that is such a good society simulator. Frostpunk 2 will have you granting one interest group an agenda in parliment to make them happy, then having you promise another interest group to fulfill one of their demands so they vote against whatever insane law the first group proposed. It will have you delay building an objectively good building until it is more politically advantageous to do so. It will have you start up a new game where you promise yourself to be a good little democrat, and then hours later do the video game equivelant to the ba'ath party purge as you declare yourself dictator and send in jackbooted thugs to break up riots.

If the above appeals to you, I greatly recommend Frostpunk 2. It manages to scratch an itch that I've wanted scratched for years. It manages to be a politics sim that doesn't feel dry. It feels like it represents a real society, and not an excel sheet made by a polisci major that worships rules.

I couldnt help but stop playing. The game is very random, no way to track the use of resources, it has just become a situation where you look at what resources are needed ibn the resource panel and build the needed biudlings and so on. No way for me to know how much the 2000 frostlanders I will bring in will use of coal, and how many daily scraps will they give, just a punch of random shit that doesn't allow me to strategies at all. Frost punk 1 was waaaaay better, way way better
