Hey there!

A a fan of Point n Click games, i got to say that i really enjoyed that one.

Its an easy game with easy puzzles. There was a few bugs along the way but i was able to easily get thru, one thing that is great is that it auto-saves for you!

I did really felt the monkey island vibe, i also did the duke grabovski game that i liked as well!

A fairly decent point and click game with pretty decent graphics and animations and ok voice acting spoiled by a lacking storyline and bad jokes. Still if you get it cheaply like I did then it's well worth playing of you like theses types of games. It shows what Lucas arts adventure games could have been like if they had continued making them.

I have reached a glitch in the game and it will not allow me to go any further. I am disappointed to have wasted my money on this game. It already wasn't my favorite (no where near as good as Monkey Island), but now I can't even finish it.

I very much enjoyed this game. Some laugh out loud moments. Great voice acting. It's really good how the creators blended the older style painted backgrounds with 3D characters.
Some of the humour reminds me of Broken Sword and Monkey Island, very witty but may seem a little sexist in places.

Took quite a bit of trial and error but that's no bad thing as a lot of the responses when you get things wrong are quite varied and amusing.
The game is not too short and not overly long. Took me about 7 hours, only resorting to a walkthrough about 4 or 5 times when I thought I'd exhausted all other possibilities.

Essential Tips:
- Holding TAB shows all interactive areas on screen.
- Double clicking on a screen exit (i.e. when the skeleton hand is visible) jumps you to that screen, saving you the time of waiting for your character to amble to that screen location first.
- Sometimes you need to click on an item in your inventory and then on one of the other 2 playable characters in your inventory to solve a puzzle. The other characters sometimes give you hints or essential information needed to progress when you do this.
(The game was likely released with a printed manual originally but these things are not explained in the game itself.) But now you know, so no worries!

Someone wrote they had issues getting the game to run but I personally had no issues on Windows 10.
Other reviews complain about waiting on a black screen or waiting for the voice actors to finish speaking because they read faster than the text. I probably only noticed the screen staying black for a short time on a couple of occasions and probably only because I'd read that review! I can't say I noticed the voices taking a long time to finish because I enjoyed them.

The text trees in this game are simpler than Monkey Island and there are probably fewer of them, you won't get stuck trying to pick the exact correct order of comments/questions, which in my opinion is a good thing.

If you like the old school point and clicks then you should definitely give this one a shot. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

As with A Vampyre Story (from the same developer), I cannot get this game to run on Windows 10 (not even with all community guides on moving the game to another folder, renaming .DLL files, installing and using dgVoodoo2, editing the game config files, etc.). As long as this is not solved, my review of the game will remain negative, as I think this should not be sold on Steam.

Don't let my number of played hours fool you, btw. Those are from trying to get the game to run and forgetting to close the main.exe program from Windows Task Manager after the game crashes.

Very funny game with really amusing characters. Though its not always clear what has to be done to complete a scene, but with a bit of trial and error you get there. Graphics are good..

Agrr time to raise the anchor you land lubber and aghast ya gaze on 'autumn moons' little strumpet point and click adventure. The commanding coxswain behind this ships wheel is captain/developer Bill Teller infamous for his visual work on 'The Curse of Monkey Island' before abandoning the jolly roger known as 'Lucas Arts'.

Alas me matey's. You would think the loot would be in the coffer on this one. But they only seem to be serving dumb down rum on board in comparison to the monkey island fleet. Also on set sale there was some scallywag bug stowaways causing all sorts of scurvy savagery behind the scenes. But those stinkin bilge rats were located and everything was patched up when those wretched wenches were tossed overboard. Unfortunate, the stormy weather reviews had already done quite a job on the sales and this ship became just a still log in the water.

Still, hanging from the yardarm I’m trying to get a clearer picture. This vessel is still operational and it's time someone scraped the barnacles off the rudder, hoist the sales and got things moving again with a blow of a good hornpipe.

Plot is a bit foggy at first, it’s about a once quiet volcano housing a demon god that's been previously contained due to Vooju spells cast, but dark clouds are looming once again as the volcano seems to be throwing a temper. Three main protagonists straight away fall fowl play to a cruel mutiny orchestrated by Papa doc's treacherous wife Queen Zimbi. Secretly, behind his back while being aided by pirate Green beard and his crew she has been using the power of Vooju to collect an army of mindless zombies, trying to awaken the sleeping demon, preparing plans on how to over throw the pirate council and been erecting warding barriers so that not even the dead or ghosts could stop her.

Three immediately fell trap to her spells having their soul’s separated form their bodies. These three are left with no choice than to join forces and try and put a stop to this evil. First there is Papa doc himself a Vooju priest who is an expert on all things Vooju being able to read ancient hieroglyphs. Next there is Jane Starling a female pirate with such a low cut top and endowed with such glowing chests that everyone should treasure. In fact I’m sure many would find it hard to even keep all hands on keyboard when she is around. Lastly there is Blue Belly the comical relief of the game and expert on all things food related.

In the first part of the adventure our heroes need to discover a way to reattach their souls to their bodies, they need to locate a ship so they can get off Vooju island and try and find others allies that could help them bring an end to this plan. In the second part of the adventure we learn that it was Green Beards job to attack all these potential allies, using their ghost powers they must put a stop to his attack, join forces and everyone help prevent the resurrection of the demon god.

Ramming speed unfortunately is halted by dialogue not being skippable, this causes the hull of the game to drag along scraping all of us with shallow patience. Also several of the puzzles are so cryptic, that they will scar your dignity like a cutlass when you have to scallywag for a walkthrough since no lily livered hornswoggle in game hint system is applicable.

With these things placed aside there's no real reason to be sassing the cap'n about a very pretty, now working, completely made up baloney Vooju game not to be taken seriously. Some of the in game curse/spells contain words like 'Orthodontist' and 'Miley Cyrus' and it would be smart to keep your tongue housed where it belongs and your thumb pointed towards the crow’s nest unless you want to feed the fishes YO HO HO.

Ghost Pirates tries to be a good game but comes out flat and bland. not being able to skip dialog also makes it long winded and just adds to the boring part. i feel like they wanted to be a monkey island but it just ended up hurting them in the end because it just came off as them trying to hard. the story does its job but the characters try to hard to be funny and likable but don't do a good job at it. i do feel the target audience was young adults and in this respect i could see people of that age enjoying this. its colorful and has a passable story but lacks a real soul. if you're really into monkey island maybe give it a try but for others i'ed pass on this until you have played some of the better point and clicks.

The game would be interesting enough, but it's ruined by waiting.
Either because there is some weird black screen right after going to another room, or because you have to watch your character move across a room, or, most annoyingly, because you can't skip any text apparently.

Every time you examine something - and you do that a lot - the character will actually speak the text you can read.
So far so good, a nice voice-over is always welcome.
However, any well designed game should offer the option to SKIP the voice-over. I probably could read the text a dozen times while the character is still droning on about it.

As nice as the voices are, after a while I don't need to listen to them every time - especially if it's something I've heard several times already.

To confound that problem, the puzzles are not necessarily something you'd call obvious, so you need to try a lot of stuff - and have to listen to the characters over and over again.

If you've got lot of patience and time - go ahead, try it. The graphics are quite nice, the voices are alright. It's really mainly the UI that kills it.

I've played A vampyre story from this develper a long time ago, it was a great game. Now i have finally decided to try Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island and it's a fine game, not very good, just good adventure game, 7.5/10 for me.
People who have problems on win 10 just do this.

Go to game folder, find main.exe

right click, properties > compatibility
check 3 boxes > run in 640x480 you wont see difference
Disable display scaling
Run as administrator
click OK.
Game runs fine for me win 10 64bit

It could be that only run as admin is the solution, i've saw this 3 on some forums, so i checked them all it doesent really matter as long as it's working.

I love this game, and since its rating was so negative due to spending so many months being unplayable for the majority (game worked fine for me), I felt I needed to help balance reviews now that a patch was finally issued.

All I need to say is that Monkey Island was 'my' video game, back in my teen years. I finished the second episode over the phone with a friend I was trying to solve puzzles with. I love all of the episodes, even the last two. I try to buy every pirate-themed game I can find, especially those with a comedic side. Vooju Island was one such 'find', back in the day.
So, yes, it's Bill Tiller's shameless attempt at making his own Monkey Island follow-up after he left LucasArts. I never found him to be crucial to the Monkey Island mythos, however Vooju managed to make me laugh and, most importantly, I got attached to the characters. Yes, the game has many flaws. But it also got what mattered right, at least what mattered to me: story, atmosphere and characters.

tl;dr: if you want to play a Monkey Island-like game, buy a Monkey Island game. If you've finished them all, buy Vooju Pirates and Jolly Rover, the two best MI copycats around.

I used to rely like this game back in the day, So when I found it was on steam I ordered it right away.
The problem is that it's just not compatible with modern systems. I have 3 computer's a PC a laptop and a windows tablet and this game crashes on all 3. It just shouldn't be sold until all the many issues are fixed.

About the game. As a big fan of the Monkey Island series I can't really say it belongs in the same group. Ghost Pirates has the exact same controls as Curse of Monkey Island, the same art style and it's about pirates. But it lacks a bit in the humour department. Some puzzles aren't really logical and after much trial and error I just looked up the answers. Most of the time the order of things was incorrect or some small thing just popped up in a place where I just looked before.

Encountered numerous problems starting the game, looking at the discussions I'm not the only one. Eventually I got it running by forcing it to use my onboard graphics. Using a video card just wouldn't work.

However problems left asside I did enjoy the game and would recommend it when it's on sale. Looking at my play time I've finished it in about 10 to 12 hours.
